Oscar Piastri x trad goth!reader PART TWO

“Oscar, have you seen Y/N since the whole ‘setting your car on fire’ thing?” Mark Webber asked, fiddling with his steaming coffee mug. 

“No. Dr. Roberts returned and Y/N was off training with the FIA. Don't you remember that? You were the one that told me in the first place!” Oscar complained. Mark shook his head. “Right - I totally forgot. I got my hands full of your contract negotiation goin' on. Have you spoken to Y/N at least? I know you got her contact info.”

Now it was Oscar's Turn to shake his head. “Y/N had to hand off her phone. Secret FIA stuff or something. Training's been pretty intense from what I've heard. Almost a Bootcamp. Appears Dr. Roberts really wants to retire about now. “

Before Webber could answer him, however, his phone's special chime went off. A message directed to Oscar, who'd managed to toss his own phone in the bath, had arrived. Y/N was now fully starting at her position coming the Saudi Arabian GP.

The young Australian driver smiled as he read it.

As the GP weekend rolled around, Oscar found himself excited. Y/N was good to be around - or more than that. He couldn't really tell himself. 

The paddock was lively with music blasting, though not that much to his liking. The practice sessions went well for him, less good for Carlos Sainz Appendix. Y/N was the one to order him to the hospital. Oscar himself hadn't had the chance to spot the woman yet, but a chance would surely arise.

The second he finished that thought, Oscar spotted a familiar gloomy appearance.

Y/N stood in the distance, long black sleeves cuffed at the end, puffing up at her shoulders and fluttering in the wind, a dark hat resting on top of her hair. The second she spotted him, she jumped up and waved but also dropped her cup of coffee.

Oscar rushed over to her, ignoring the media, snapping pictures. 

“Nice to see you, Y/N. It's been so long! Should i call you Dr. L/N now?”

Y/N chuckled. “I don't think that's necessary after I managed to set your car aflame. Was McLaren angry at you?” 

Oscar cringed on the inside. The chewing out he'd received afterwards wasn't exactly simply lovely. “A bit. But it's all good, McLaren saw this as a chance to fix the car.” He took a simple look down at the spilled coffee on the ground. 

“Fancy a new mug of coffee? My treat at the McLaren Hospitality?”

“Coffee sounds good. Let's go!”

The Walk to the hospitality was short, letting Y/N sip on her new Latte Macchiato much earlier than she could have hoped to. 

“You look quite simple today. What's up with that?”

“That's pretty direct Oscar. Short answer: I'm a doctor now, can't turn up in a full face of makeup that gets somewhere it's not supposed to. Everything else? This is a Muslim country. Didn't wanna rock up too revealing - not that i usually am.”

“I feel like the bite you spoke of the last time we met is kinda gone Y/N.” Oscar exclaimed.

The woman just pressed her face on the tabletop, sighing loudly. 

“Oh Honey, you wouldn't know. Be happy you're a driver - FIA bootcamp is hell.”

“Hell?” He laid his head to the side, looking like a depressed puppy.

“Sleep deprivation, caffeine overdosing and overworking. They had me going from morning till evening and then last minute studying.” Her fingers were shaking as if the sheer thought was causing her agony. “I am, however, very well-prepared for this job now. Dr. Roberts can retire in peace now. I also got to meet someone great.”

She perked up at that before pulling out her phone. The wallpaper presented to Oscar showed her standing next to a lady in an old-school racesuit, looking quite old herself.

“I got to meet Michèle Mouton! I got to practise driver extraction on her!” With her voice rising high, one could feel Y/N getting excited.

“The rally Legend? That's hella cool Y/N. Though your fangirling makes me think you'd prefer working with her than in F1” Oscar teased her.

“Shut up mate! It's Michèle Mouton! Who wouldn't fangirl meeting her! She was quite happy seeing me enter the world of Motorsport. She even took me on driving laps around circuits and even road track's. Believe me, she scared the carsickness out of me.”

“So our doctor doesn't need a doctor of her own after a car ride? That's nice - i feel like I'm in much better hands now. Have you told the other drivers yet?”

Y/N balled her fists. “Who allowed you to be so cocky, huh? I rescued you from becoming cooked chicken in Qatar. Be grateful.”

Oscar bowed forward. “Thank you, dear saviour. How could i ever repay this favour?”

Y/N pondered for a second before answering. As she turned to speak, her beeper announced itself.  She read the little device before downing her coffee and standing up. “Sorry Oscar, that'll have to wait. I need to check over Ollie Bearman and his dad. Both are nervous wrecks. See you!”

She spoke before running out, sleeves fluttering like a crow's wing. 

Qualifying went well though Oscar couldn't spot the doctor again. Only after the actual race on Sunday did he catch her again - standing next to the medical car still in her racesuit, talking to a few FIA employees about something. Her hair had been put into a tight braid, looking disheveled from the helmet sitting on top. 

As she caught Oscar, she said goodbye to her colleagues before speeding off. 

“Congrats Oscar! I bet it felt great to finally leave Lewis behind you.” She greeted him.

“It sure did - a podium would have been nicer though”, Y/N fumbled around the medical bag slung over her shoulder before procuring a bottle of water of which she quickly downed half. “You came back nice and healthy - so that's all that matters. Want some?” She finished off with a question. Oscar took the bottle, letting the leftover water run down his throat. “Very good. You've been looking a little red again. Make sure to drink enough.”

“Yes Doctor, i will.” He cheekily responded to her. “So what did you want from me as payment for your chivalrous deed? Well, both good deeds now. Nothing's for free when you're concerned. I bet you want repayment.”

Y/N placed her hands on her hips. “Of course Oscar - take example of the Dutch. They even want you to PayPal a Euro if they buy you something.”

“Glad then that i haven't been in Max debt yet.” Oscar smiled at her again. “Want me to repay you in monetary value?”

Y/N sat the bag down on the floor, packing the waterbottle before turning to him again.

“I'd like you to take me out for dinner somewhere. You've got my number, right? I know Mark got you a new phone. So contact me with the time and place. I gotta go now! FIA isn't kind to people being late.” 

With that she zoomed off again, leaving Oscar behind in mild confusion. Had she just asked him to take her on a date? Apparently. He'd better get researching then.

Haughtily composed high priestess of punk, spooky voodoo doll frontwoman of the Banshees (and The Creatures), perennial eyeliner role model, perfector of the death glare and Chislehurst’s finest, Siouxsie Sioux (née Susan Janet Ballion, 27 May 1957) turns 66! For generations of punks, goths, queers and misfits, Siouxsie is the real Queen of England! What a life-changing performer: it was seeing a black-and-white photo of Siouxsie in a magazine when I was in my early teens that planted the idea of moving to London. (I’m still unsure whether to be grateful to her or not!). I last saw her perform at the Meltdown festival in June 2013 – so ten years ago next month! Isn’t it gratifying to see Siouxsie’s recent reemergence as a mature artist, still fiercely glamorous and charismatic? Lenore/Lenora Von Landshort from the specter bridegroom, she's a spooky goth girl with a weird little husband.

Sha Wujing aka Sandy from journey to the west, he's purple sand and an intellectual.

Scheherazade the Storyteller of One Thousand and one nights/Arabian Nights, A she's arguably one of the coolest and most important women in fiction ever, B, that's a persona summonable name if I've ever read one.

Barbatos Costumes: The Good, The Bat

Okay! The Good, the Bat and the Ugly is a go!

Demon form! 10/10 My favorite Demon form and in my not at ALL humble opinion his is the most unique and interesting. That 300 raven was a total pain and took over a year to save up because of emergency vouchers. Silly beginner me had the lofty goal of getting everyone's Akuzon costumes when I started the game.

I wasn't into the ruffles, initially, but over time I've come to adore them. I hate drawing this costume. He's so freaking pretty 😫 His design is so stylish! I thought his spooky little horns resemble fossilized wings (Which are totally not like Handia's lol) and that made me wonder if he is much older than the others (lol yes) or if he has ancient Demon features. His long tail evokes amphibian and serpent and is a fresh twist on the traditional forked tail. On that subject I have never had the chance to hold an amphibian, so would his tail be super smooth, warm and slick like...the interior of the mouth or more like a cold, wet puppy nose? Lukewarm? I wonder if due to its nature that he has a special beauty routine/hygiene for his tail or if there is a degree of self cleansing. Does the "glistening sheen" have any rumors of psychedelic or magic effects? Does it get drippy?

Dame It's OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAND it just needs a nice tight corset! Dame opportunity, heh

Arabian Look 8.5/10

Already discussed, but GOD. He is practically naked, the Barbie toes, the shoulders, the fingerless opera length gloves, THAT WAIST AND LOW CUT TOP. The pashmina bulking out his hips in that weird bow and dragging around on the ground subtracted points.

Animal Look 8/10

This was the first costume I could unlock for him! I love it! I love anything that gives him the illusion of an hourglass figure. The outfit looks so soft and cute and his big ol' adorable ears having cute fluffs is one time I'm not a stickler about accuracy. It would have an 9/10 (by Obey Me standards) but those high heel sneakers pain me so much. His tail being under his coat made him immune during Tail Thieves even if he was a target. But it also hides his long r-a-t like tail lmao Otherwise it's a Turn around~ Turn your ass back around~ I like his little hip peek. On his sprite his nails are unpainted, but in the chat art his nails are.

THIS is Ruffle Maxxing. It's an unusual color choice for him, but he rocks it. The big bow kind of detracts from it, but I adore stars.

SSO REWRITTEN / FULL STORY SERIES

-> SSO Rewritten is how I would write the main story. The posts will complete the whole main storyline. -> Opening ALL the areas in the horse part of Jorvik (Harvestlands, Winterdale, Springvalley, Summerplains and Jorcrater) -> Story from arriving to Jorvik to defeating Garnok. -> You can find the story related posts with the tags "sso rewritten" and "sso full story series". -> Up to the point where Anne steals the 5-Leaf Clover, I didn’t change anything (unless they did since I played the game lmao), we do it how it is in the game. From that point on, the real party starts. -> The story to come: more detailed descriptions of scenes, unlocking new areas, new factions, new characters and new storylines!

CHARACTERS

Rules: --SSL (Starshine Legacy) is the most sacred canon: can’t change it. --Consistent SSO lore, exploring the same Themes as SSL. --Characters staying true to their original SSL selves. --Use Star Shine Legacy and Star Stable Season riders heavily as inspiration. Expand on the stories and worldbuilding suggested in there. --Thus characters’ personalities, magic system, world, etc can’t be changed, only added to. --The Dark Riders are: Sabine and Kaahn (red maned black warmblood, red eyes), Jessica and Erebos (jet-black Friesian), Katja and Tyrann (dapple grey Arabian with light blue eyes), Elise and Acheron (light maned, dark body Rocky Mountains horse)

A, SOUL RIDERS

LISA (Heart of the 5-man band) --Goth aesthetic, “rocker girl”, punk spiky hair, wears black and blue clothes. --Is still into rock music, looks almost scary, but is the heart of the team. --Music based healing powers. --She was the leader of the team in SSL. In SSO, the leader is Alex, but Lisa also remains important.

LINDA (Smart guy of the 5-man band) --Nerd aesthetic, likes to wear green things. Usually the source of exposition. Scout. --Introverted, but will infodump when scared or nervous. --Teaches MC how to see the visions, see truth and dispel illusions.

ANNE (Lancer of the 5-man band) --Prep aesthetic, wears the trendiest light coloured clothes, likes light blue and pink. --She can get like a moody diva sometimes, but mainly brave, loyal and unconditionally devoted. --Sulking sometimes, but not morose. --Teleporting and light powers to dispel the dark magics.

ALEX (Leader/Big guy of the 5-man band) --Jock aesthetic. Likes to wear red and grey, camo, comfortable or even “fighting” clothes. --The one that usually decides they have to act, the others follow her. Anne’s more calm and collected energy balances out Alex’s hot-headedness. Playful bickering. --Reasonable, listens to others now, warrior with a good heart.

B, DARK RIDERS

SABINE (Strong guy) --Short and thin, with short, black hair. Main colours are red, brown and grey/white. --Rival of Alex. Short, angry powerhouse, bone-headed, many times refusing to listen. --Fiery personality, rich, spoiled brat, who secretly thinks, she’s better, than the other Dark Riders, while being deeply envious of them. --Has fire powers. Emotional, easy to anger, will fall into traps playing into that.

JESSICA (Prideful) --Tall and thin (wanted to be a model), prep/goth aesthetic, wears only black, very fashionable. Green eyes. --Rival of Anne. Both start off as prideful, but Anne learns humility by admitting that Alex leads better, than she would. Jessica never lets go of her pride and feeling of superiority and in the end it will be her downfall and fatal flaw.

KATJA (Smart guy) --White, ice blue and light grey colours. Piercing ice blue eyes. Her hair is unnervingly, unnaturally icy white, almost glows. Wears only white, her flowing coat more fashionable, than warm. Always in the mini skirt outfit, even in the coldest weather as if she’s not cold at all. --Medium height, but the most terrifying of the Dark Riders next to Elise. --Rival of Linda, the only one, who can outsmart her. The only way to defeat her is with the truth. --No violin: while it is a nice aesthetic an all, in SSL, there was nothing about Katja being into music. That alone ofc wouldn’t mean she can’t have it, but the fact that Lisa is into music and Aideen was into music does. Magic through music seems to be connected to the good guys and it is generally a good guy trope, so I would stick with that. But she can absolutely keep her violin theme music, just not as her playing.

ELISE (Hateful) --Dark skin, long black hair in small braids, golden (almost sith) eyes. Violet and black colour scheme. --Rival of Lisa. While she is a healer and peace-mediator, Elise sows discord among people and destroys. --As tall as Jess and also muscular (Sabine’s new model’s body type basically) --Wears camo pants and combat boots, military type clothes, sleeveless tops. --Because Eleanor Nightwalker’s design of her is about as close to perfect as humanly possible.

Main Oppositions Table: attributes, that would guide the writing process

C, SECONDARY CHARACTERS

--HERMAN (Mentor): should be less of a goofball. More mysterious, always knows more than he tells us, but not out of malice or forgetfulness, but to protect MC from the grim truths.

--FRIPP (Mentor): is not an annoying rat in SSL. He is our main mentor and guide, alien and distant, but not because he’s bad, but because he has lived so long, raised so many generations of Soul Riders to fight Garnok and watched them all fall and die. Also kinda lost faith, that the druids can beat Garnok. Now, he’s trying not to get attached, to not get his heart broken again, when his students fall. Eventually he learns to open up again and gains back his faith in victory.

--MR SANDS (Redeemed Opponent): since he was manipulated to turn bad, he would eventually turn back to good, to our side, after realising all the damage he’s done, driven by his past love for Rosalind and recent one for Justin and the desire to correct his past mistakes. When he helps us and leaves the dark side, comes into conflict with Darko and is injured. In Winterdale, he is recovering in Pine Hill and is now kind of our ally and our greatest source of insight against Darko, who now leads the Dark Riders.

--DEREK (Ally): is not a postman. He is a badass spy, a secret government agent in SSL and he could get secret agent storylines like spying on GED, Dark Core and Mr. Sands’ enterprises. It would be first during his quests, while spying on Mr Sands, that we realize, Sands maybe wants to leave the bad side behind.

i've only ever heard their cover of "dear prudence" which makes me think i might like their other stuff, but i don't like just diving randomly into artists' discographies so i was wondering if you had any recommendations for which albums/songs i could start with?

My personal favorite album of theirs is A Kiss In The Dreamhouse! It's a little less known, so I really recommend the Juju album as well if you're looking for their fundamental work. Most of their well known stuff is on that album, and gosh it's good goth rock; Spellbound, Arabian Nights, Halloween, Into The Light...there's a lot of great music on that album. I also really love Tinderbox, it has Cities In Dust which is one of their more well known songs and it's very good. Can't go wrong with any of their albums.

So, Who Are The Three Mothers Anyway?

Exploring the Germanic “Modra.”

Found in Burgel, West Germany, is a votive stone with an inscription reading “Matronis Alagabius,” translating to “All-giving Mothers.” The stone dates back to around the 4th century AD. Ten more votive stones with the inscription “Matronis Gabiabus” were also uncovered in Rovenich, Germany. These are just two instances of votive stones dedicated to the elusive mother deities throughout Northwestern Europe. Furthermore, the heathen Anglo-Saxon holiday of Modranicht or “Mothers’ Night” is mentioned by the notable monk Bede in his work De temporum ratione. Bede writes that the Anglo-Saxon heathens celebrated this holiday at the same time that the Christians celebrated the birth of the lord. It is generally accepted by scholars that the mothers recognized during this holiday, as well as the mothers to whom these votive stones are dedicated to, are ancestral female deities of a protective nature. However, information on these deities is scarce and their importance remains somewhat unclear. I don’t think it would be unwise to view the mothers as ancestral deities, but I have my own theories as to whom these mystifying figures are. I believe these Germanic mothers are much more complex and nuanced and I aim to make more sense of them in this article.

Firstly, I’d like to address how these female deities appear. They are often depicted in groups of three, sometimes holding dishes containing bread, fruit, or flowers. The Ashcroft Relief, found near Circencester, England, was discovered in 1899 and dates back to approximately the 3rd century AD. The first figure appears to be holding bread, the second fruit, and the third some unidentifiable objects. It is important to note that Circenster was occupied by the Romans at this time. Matter of fact, many artifacts relating to the three mothers have been unearthed at Roman military sites. The Romans dominated much of Europe from the 1st to 4th centuries AD and as a result, the Germanic tribes and Romans frequently interacted. An altar with an inscription dedicated to the Ambiamarcae and Ambriorenis, as well as several Roman deities, was found in Deutz, West Germany, and dates back to 252 AD. These titles may be referring to the location of Ambia. This altar alone affirms the protective nature of these deities. There are also votive objects that describe mothers of rivers, oaks, mountains, battle, and healing. Stones dedicated to the Condrusi tribe and Eastern Goths also signify their status as ancestral tribe mothers. These votive objects are found mostly in Germany and England.

The appearance of these deities in groups of three is particularly striking. It is common knowledge that the number three was considered sacred by the Germanic peoples. There are three Norns named Wyrd, Verdandi, and Skuld who spin the threads of fate. The Yggdrasil tree has three roots, each containing a sacred well. One of these wells is the Well of Wyrd. Triple fate deities are also present in Greek mythology. The three sisters Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos are responsible for one’s destiny. The Parcae are their Roman equivalent. Moreover, the triple goddess portraying the maiden, the mother, and the crone is a popular neopagan concept. Each figure represents an important phase in a woman’s life and corresponds to various phases of the moon. It should be noted that triple female deities are recognized in pagan beliefs across the globe, not only in the native European faiths. In the Pre-Islamic Arabian religion, the three sisters Al-Lat, al-Uzza, and Manat were the central deities venerated in Mecca. Al-Lat was the goddess of war and battle, al-Uzza the goddess of protection, and Manat the goddess of fate and death. Fate and one’s life cycle is a significant common theme among triple deities.

As previously stated, the heathen Anglo-Saxon Modranicht was briefly described by Bede. He asserts that specific “ceremonies” took place during this holiday and many scholars believe Bede may have been alluding to a type of sacrificial celebration similar to the Scandinavian Disablot. The Disablot was a pre-Christian holiday dedicated to the Disir, female deities. Female land spirits are even referred to as Landdisir, derived from the sacred stones they inhabit called Landdisasteinar. Disablot took place in hopes of ensuring a bountiful harvest. Female goddesses are often associated with fertility within both humans and the Earth. The 11th century Anglo-Saxon Aecerbot, or “Field Remedy,” mentions the goddess Erce. This charm is heavily Christianized, but still gives directions to invoke the goddess. Her name is to be chanted three times and she is described as Earth’s mother. In Gylfaginning, Frigg receives oaths from several natural objects such as stones, trees, and birds after Baldur’s dreams predict his death. This demonstrates Frigg’s deep connection with the Earth and her influence over its characteristics. Some argue that these three mother deities were central to a Germanic mother-cult dedicated to the hearth.

As a result of my lengthy research into this topic, I do not reject the idea that the three mothers are ancestral guardian deities. Their veneration at Roman military sites makes this extremely clear, and the votive objects describing them as mothers of certain tribes makes this all the more obvious. However, I feel these deities also have an extremely strong connection to fate which is often overlooked by scholars. Their worship at military sites may very well indicate the belief that these mother deities have some command over an individual’s fate, as well as the fate of the tribe. As mothers of the tribe, these deities at the very least possess knowledge of its destiny. As I see it, fate deities being portrayed in groups of three throughout numerous pre-Christian religions furthers the idea that the three mothers are in some way symbolic of fate. Secondly, I view the three mothers as some sort of land spirits, similar to the Landdisir. Inscriptions describing them as mothers of various geographical features, as well as many female goddesses being heavily linked to the natural environment, solidifies this suggestion. I feel that the three mothers are often not specific deities attested in literary sources, but instead separate beings unique to and symbolic of specific tribes. In some cases, I would argue that the three mothers may depict various aspects of Frigg, a trio of Earth goddesses such as Erce, or even the Norns. Overall, I view the three mothers as prophetic ancestral fate deities who are in some way responsible for the prosperity of the tribe, as well as the land in which they reside.

Wednesday Characters as D+F Fragrances

I’m currently heavily hyperfixated on two things: Wednesday and perfume. I decided I might as well combine the two, and have some fun with one of the most Wednesday-esque perfume houses I have ever seen, that being Death and Floral. These aren’t necessarily what I think these characters would wear, but more what they would smell like as a whole, or maybe they just fit the vibe? I don’t totally know, because this is just for fun! Use this as an interesting look into the characters, OR use it as a perfume rec list! Support small, ethical fragrance houses!!

I have the characters listed, followed by the titles of the scents and then the D+F descriptions of each scent!

Wednesday
