Narration Chris Drosselmeyer:
Princess Pirlipat wrote the fae a letter requesting her presence,
Of course, she could not refuse a request for an audience from the royal family. So using teleportation she arrived at the palace that very night.
Standing before the fae Pirlipat greeted the fae with a traditional gift of gold, gems and a feast. Much to their shock The Sugar Plum Fairy didn't eat the food or touch the gifts. Instead, she just
wanted to talk.
Page 14
Narration Chris Drosselmeyer:
"Oh Princess Pirlipat, most beautiful and intelligent of princesses." The fae greeted with a bow.
"You personally wrote me a letter and sent for me for a favour. Now I am oh so curious, what would the young woman who has everything need from me?"
"Most esteemed Sugar Plum, Princess of the long night, I require a teacher. Someone to teach me the power and nature of Dark magic. While even the greatest wizards struggle with the most basic of
Black magic for you it is second nature, like breathing. So I ask you, will you do the honour of teaching me your craft. You will be well compensated for your time and efforts of course."
Page 15
Narration Chris Drosselmeyer:
There was a moment of silence before the Sugar Plum Fairy started laughing. She laughed and laughed as
the court looked on in shock and confusion.
Princess Pirlipat, on the other hand, was furious. "What's so funny?!" She snapped.
The fae could barely speak through her giggles but managed to get out, "oh sweet delusional Princess, you amuse me so. You play castles and politics on a pile of bones and locked in a gilded cage."
Page 16
Narration Chris Drosselmeyer:
They were all confused but mostly because they did not want to acknowledge the truth. The truth that the realm they called home was nothing more than a farm for their energy. That the Royals had no real power compared to that of the fae who built the very land they stood upon.
The truth that while many people from all around that realm lived and worked together they still divided themselves from wealthy and poor, slave and master. All for the illusion of control, all to cling to the distant memory of colonialism.
Still, the Sugar Plum Fairy was able to calm herself a little as the Princess huffed and puffed and demanded to be taken seriously.

Hi Amira! It’s Elisa here, I thought I would ask some questions. Firstly, what is your favourite play/show that you ever performed in? I was once in a production of cats as a voice double and I loved it! Also, what would your ideal Sunday evening consist of?
Hey, Elisa! thanks for your questions!hmm, the musical one is a tough question hehe... I’ve participated in so many plays. hmm, I loved doing the nutcracker and got to play the main role (which a lot of girls were jealous of), obviously, I loved doing some of Shakespeare’s plays, my school even did the phantom of the opera once! I think that's the one my teacher got jealous of and tried to kick me out of the club. gosh, I’m rambling..if I had to pick a favorite it would midnight summer dreams, I got to play Hermia the daughter! hmm and my ideal Sunday evening? since I was a vampire most of my life I would love to be outside to watch the sun go down, see the pretty colors in the sky before it went dark. so, I would say going to a pretty lake/river maybe even a beach and watch the sunset as everything quiets down.

The Irises perform the Nutcracker ballet…
Ballet is a beautiful and creative way to get your body moving! If you enjoy structure, you can practice the formal moves (ask Emilio or Amira and they can teach you) or if you like to be loosey goosey, you can dance freely. The music gives us the clues we need. Irises can feel the different emotions in classical music, the variations in tone and speed telling them what kind of action might be happening on stage.
How can you play an instrument in a way that sounds scary? Happy? Sneaky?
How can you move your body to express different emotions?
How is it beneficial for kids to have the option to learn something new but the freedom to learn at their own pace?

how do i summarize the last year in isolation.. 2/8
2020 was literal hell. the worst year of my life to date! in february i got into boston ballet’s summer program, which would mean five weeks surrounded by serious ballet students and living on my own in boston. ugh im still so upset it got cancelled. covid happened in about march cancelling everything for the rest of the year.. spring show, amira, boston ofc and i couldn’t see my friends for the longest time. i am super glad i had anna though. we would just go on the longest walks to feed the baby geese all spring long and well into the summer. we gossiped about basically anything besides the actual shit we were dealing with in our own lives. it was too hard to have to talk about dad getting diagnosed outside of my house anyways. i mean i still haven’t told the vast majority of my friends that he has cancer? i don’t even know how to go about it, and im literally an expert oversharer. idk, its something about the way you can tell the looks on peoples faces even through a screen, especially when you are telling them your dad got diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in april of 2020. once summer came things got a little bit better? i started seeing dance friends again slightly, and i still saw anna a lot. we would go to sunrises and stay up all night in anticipation since we all know i cant wake up for the life of me. i started dancing again for the first time since march and it felt really good to finally have that release that i really missed. once school started up again, some routine started kind of entering my life again! i started getting close with nina, which has been probably the only upside to this entire pandemic. she completely gets me, and i really don’t know what i would do without her and my other closest friends. nutcracker season started and i was so so happy. my friends were dancing their dream roles and i got to be their biggest supporter which is truly what i do best. dancing in snow will forever be one of the highlights of my life. it was so magical and i really think it’s one of the core things that motivates me to continue dancing. when dance went virtual again, my life kinda started going downhill. i don’t even know how to put into words how painful dancing in your living room is in front of your entire family, but it is simply the worst. they have zero boundaries, and i am too anxious to try and set them. taylor released two albums in 2020 and i re-entered my obsession. also i have become a full fledged l****e , so you can probably tell that i am unwell!! ao3 has its own category in my screentime.. anyways. weekly hangouts with the roitmans + maiya + sarah have truly been my saving grace. it’s the only thing that feels even remotely normal and it’s still super modified. i am super glad we are still allowed to do them even if it means freezing our asses off walking home alone at 1 am every saturday.. maiya and fiz <333 in january i auditioned for three of the best ballet summer schools in the entire country and i got into all three!!! boston ballet with partial scholarship, miami city ballet with full tuition, and pacific northwest ballet with half tuition!!! this literally was insane to find out and i think that my parents are finally understanding how big of a deal this entire thing is? i have decided to do miami city ballets spring break workshop to adjust to strict balanchine, and then hopefully pnb has in person stuff in the summer? school stuff has been alright, i ended 1st semester with all a’s, but i don’t think i’ve retained nearly anything.. also i am in love with someone i havent even spoken to in person please. thomas gostch is literally perfect in every way. jones junior jazz musician, HE/THEY, percy jackson stan, olivia g’s little brother.. stop playing oh my god. anyways i am obsessed but its never going to happen ugh. i am hoping for things to start looking up for second semester and the summer! trying to be the emotional support im sure my friends will need once college stuff starts getting sent out. lol until next time!

Panel 1
Chris Drosselmeyer: Do you think there is more to the story?
Panel 2
Amira Mohren: Hmmm, I think so. Sometimes I think about what happens to Pirlipat when she becomes Queen
and the Mice after their king is killed. Stuff like that.
Panel 3
Chris Drosselmeyer: Then there is more. As long as someone is around to think of more than a story is never truly over.
Panel 5
*Grab*
Chris Drosselmeyer: But since I'm here I can simply tell you things that happened. If you want of course.
Amira Mohren: Tell me everything, I need to know, I'll die if you don't tell me!
Chris Drosselmeyer: Well we can't have that now, can we?
Page 10
Panel 1
Chris Drosselmeyer: Alright, how about the Nutcracker wars, where the old mad king literally built an army of child soldiers-
Panel 2
Turner Dressler: Maybe something a little lighter? She's seven.
Panel 3
Chris Drosselmeyer: Right! Right, okay, how about something… Okay, you wanted to know what happened to Pirlipat right?
Page 11
Narration Chris Drosselmeyer:
Alright
Well, you see she was around your brother's age young when the original Nutcracker broke her curse and was cursed himself and barely a tween when Marie broke his curse. So she was really too young to truly remember what the Mouse Queen had done to her and even the Mouse Kings brief but still very frightening rule.
Still, she wasn't stupid. Unlike her father who was content on just ruling as he'd done before she began studying, gathering the best teachers in all the realm for she was a Princess and deserved the best. She learned about their worlds history, math and sciences. All so she could rule her kingdom better than any King or Queen before her.
Page 12
Narration Chris Drosselmeyer:
However there was one important study that eluded her, the study of magic, specifically black magic such is what the mouse queen has used to curse both her and the Nutcracker.
Many great wizards and sorcerers came to offer their services but none of them were up to her standards. She didn't want someone who knew a few hexes and curses, she wanted a true master.
There was only one such master in all the land, The Sugar Plum Fairy. A mysterious and powerful fae who lived in their realm, a guardian of children lost in the dark and the devourer of fears and nightmares.

Chris Drosselmeyer: Hello there Amira, your uncle talks about you quiet a lot. It's nice to finally meet-
Panel 3
Amira: Where did you come from?
Why does your voice sound like that?
How do you know my uncle?
What happened to your eye?
Panel 4
Chris Drosselmeyer: Well, I grew up in Germany but moved to Canada a number of years ago.
That's where I met your uncle Turner. We collaborated on a project together and we've been friends ever since.
Page 6
Panel 3
Chris Drosselmeyer: As for my eye, just a workplace accident. This is why you always wear eye protection when working with machines. But don't worry, I'm going to replace it with an automaton eye at some point. Just gotta work out the last of the design kinks.
Amira: When can I see it?
Chris Drosselmeyer: Well, I have to finish building it first.
Panel 4:
Mackenzie Dressler: Thank you sweetie.

Mackenzie Dressler: This year I remembered to bring two bottles, but don't tell your mom.
Panel 2
Amira: Why do adults drink that stuff? It tastes like juice gone bad.
Panel 3
Ha ha ha
Chris Drosselmeyer: That's a rather astute observation.
Panel 4
Amira: Wait! I have more questions.
Chris Drosselmeyer: Oh?
Panel 5
Amira: Are you the same Drosselmeyer from the book? Or are you just related to him?
Page 8
Panel 1
Chris Drosselmeyer: Ahh, I guess it's pretty obvious, isn't it? The answer is a little bit of both. I'm his reincarnate, this is actually my third life, and my family tree does go back to that man.
Though he specifically didn't have any children of his own. To keep things simple I am related to him in blood and spirit.
Amira Mohren: That's amazing!
Turner Dressler: Chris is so sweet, he would have made such a good dad. I wish my niece could be happy like this all the time.
Panel 2
Amira Mohren: Do you still make automatons? I remember seeing one on tv, it looked like a swan swimming in water but the water was made of glass. How would you make it? I figured you could use would you recommend a size 1 inch or 1.5 inche cog. What measurement do you prefer? Centimetres or Inches?
Panel 4
Amira Mohren: Mr. Drosselmeyer, do you think? Is there anything else that happens after the story ended?

Baba Yaga's Hut Concept.PNG
This is an idea I've had pretty early on in this Nutcracker project. Basically stopped Inktober just to work on this illustration. Please let me know what you think and feel about this piece and the design
You can see more of the process for free on my Patreon and for $1 you can see the concept sketches for this building

Family Portrait.PNG
My fire attempt at Amira's entire nuclear family. Their mother is very particular about how they all look and act.
This is a family portrait that the photographer ended up not using due to some issues with the subjects.
Stannes and Adal First attempt.PNG
A portrait of the missing Prince Stannes and Princess Adal. No one knows if they’re alive or dead though it’s suspected they were killed by the Nutcracker when he murdered the Rat Queen.
I also have a patreon now for this webcomic/project. It’s in a very early/wip mode right now so there is only the one $1 tier. Still, it’ll allow you to see things I’ll put in a higher tier later down the line and I’ll be putting up all my stuff there as soon as I finish rather then having to wait for me to post stuff in clumps. Donating also gives you a 5% discount on all commissions from me on top of any other discount offered :D

I think I’m gonna stop doing Inktober now, it was fun for a while but I’m falling behind and I’m starting to get bored/frustrated. I’m going to go back to my normal projects now, do some more concept art
I’m almost done doing a fair bit of the character designs and want to try and do more landscape stuff and stuff that’s more quick doodles rather than full finished illustrations and careful colours which is something I struggle with
It would really help if I could have some support on Patreon for just $1 a month you can see all my work early, get a 5% discount on all commissions (on top of any other discounts offered, yes they stack) and if I make $10 I’ll start sharing rougher sketches and the like so you can all get a peek behind the curtains and a better look at my process.
