My brother rarely said the words “I love you”. He showed he loved me when he would ask if I wanted anything to eat. He showed he loved me by always being the first to wish me a happy birthday. He showed he loved me when he would drop whatever he was doing when my sisters and I needed him. He showed he loved me whenever I was in the wrong and he’d approach me about it in a calm and kind way. He showed he loved me by marching through the snow on my birthday to buy me a necklace from the dollar store when we were children. He showed he loved me the last time I saw him when he chose to sit with me at 1am eating- what I didn’t know would be our last meal together. My brother rarely said the words “I love you”, but he didn’t need to. Because he showed he loved me in everything he did.
May Allah (swt) grant him the highest of Jannah.
Allahuma Ameen ♥️

hi dolli im muslim too n yk the belief that things only happen unless Allah wills for it or allows it, well im tryna enter the void state because it’s an easy method n i’ve been tryin for so long but i can’t help but feel that im not supposed to or Allah doesn’t want me to enter it…? i don’t know but i want to live my dream life so i can live in better circumstances for not only me but mainly for my mother because the way this world is n the way it works is literal asscheeks im ngl but anyhoo this thought is engrained in my head n i always think about it after a failed attempt. i feel like im going against him in a way or he doesn’t want me to enter it i don’t rlly know how to explain it but im just really scared that im doing something that’s wrong n im also scared of the idea of living like this forever…basically just scared
HI LOVE
omg this is what I exactly went through
First off all, please don't think you're going against Allah swt himself 💗
He's not mad at you, certainly, because you have good intentions in your heart, why would he still encourage you to move and attempt and showed you the void if he didn't want you to enter?
I had your same idea and thought, these fears blinded me, I was scared, I did the thing what I was about to do, I did Salah al-istikhara
I sat down, after praying, poured out my whole heart to him, even cried honestly, because I felt like shit and I felt like I was being untrue to my own Deen, I asked him, to show me guidance and to show me if I should continue or not
I kid you not, I asked Allah for a sign that I should continue and not give up
And I swear, everytime I try to give up, I get a sort of a message from him
The last time, which was actually two weeks ago, I was on the verge of quitting everything, I wanted to drop everything, I couldn't stand it, do you know what was the first thing I heard?
"indeed, with hardship there will be ease 94:6"
This made me cry even harder, because the message right after this was a song coming up on shuffle that I never heard before:
(How could you question God's existence
When you question God Himself?
Why would you ask for God's assistance
If you wouldn't take the help?)
Anyways I'm so sorry to stray from the question, but please, I just definitely know you can do it, Allah himself does want you and everyone around you to be happy, talk to him, ask him for guidance, do istikharah Salah if you like for more reassurance from him, ask him and tell him everything, tell him why you want it and tell him everything 💗
Please remember, Allah himself wouldn't have made you want it and follow it if you wouldn't see it, you can do it, every failed attempt itself is a sign
Hope I answered well! 💗

Rainbow on Eid. DOUBLE RAINBOW ON EID. I took such a magnificent picture of it!!!!! Unfortunately it would be some sorta self doxxing posting it heh. Just trust me when I say it was so beautiful and such a moment to take in especially on such a joyous occasion! It evoked such childlike glee and delight within me oh goodness. Allah is continuously showing us such magnitude of his signs and bestowing so many blessings and GIFTS. It truly felt like an Eid gift from Allah SWT. But seriously though: first a solar eclipse in the last ten nights of Ramadan and now a double rainbow on Eid!!!!!! Allahuakbar. Part of me wants to keep my neck craning to the sky and to never look away. I would never feel bored or unsatisfied doing so.

The Islamic calendar differs from the Gregorian calendar because it follows the cycle of the moon rather than the cycle of the sun, but the two calendars have one thing in common: they both have 12 months. The 12 Islamic months each have different meanings, with four of them being sacred months during which fighting and conflict is forbidden.
There is a rich history behind each of the months which is both symbolic and deeply interesting, so if you want to learn more about the meaning of Islamic months, keep reading.
Muharram
The first month in the Islamic calendar is Muharram and it translates from Arabic to ‘forbidden’. Its name relates to the fact that it is the first of the four sacred month during which fighting is haram. It is sacred so that Muslims can return from Hajj without being attacked. There are a number of notable events that took place during Muharram, with the most significant being the Day of Ashura which occurs on the 10th day.
Safar
The second month is called Safar. The translation means ‘void’, and there are two possible reasons for this. Some believe the name comes from the fact Arab homes were empty at this time of year because everyone was out finding and gathering food. In contrast, some people believe that the meaning of the month comes from tales of Arabs looting the homes of their enemies post-battle. Several battles were fought during Safar, and in an effort to cement Islam as a peaceful religion, Allah (SWT) commanded the Muslims move to Medina during Safar to avoid any further conflict.
Rabi al-Awwal
The third month in the Islamic calendar is called Rabi al-Awwal and it is an extremely joyous month. It translates to ‘the first spring’ or ‘to graze’, as this was when cattle began grazing as the earth sprouted with new life. The most prominent event during Rabi al-Awwal is the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in 570 A.D. Many Muslims celebrate his birth, but they also grieve for him as it was also during Rabi al-Awwal that he passed away and returned to Allah (SWT) in 632 A.D.
Rabi al-Thani
Rabi al-Thani is the fourth Islamic month in the calendar and means ‘the second spring’. There are a number of different events that took place in this month, but for many Muslims, it is a time for mourning. Fatimah bint Musa, the daughter of the seventh Twelver Shia Imam, Musa al-Kadhim, and Sufi sheikh, Abdul-Qadir Gilani, both died during Rabi al-Thani.
Jumada al-Awwal
Jumada al-Awwal is the fifth month of the year and it translates to ‘the first parched land’. It’s thought that historically Jumada al-Awwal was the first month of summer pre-Islam, but some people believe it means ‘to freeze’ and relates to frozen weather causing parched land.
Jumada al-Thani
The sixth month of the Islamic calendar is Jumada al-Thani which means ‘the last parched land’. It is a significant month within the calendar, but different sects of Muslims celebrate it for different reasons. Fatimah al-Zahra, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Khadijah’s youngest daughter, was born during this month, and she also died during this month. Caliph Abu Bakr passed away during Jumada al-Thani, making this a month of mourning for many.
Rajab
Rajab is the seventh month of the Islamic calendar and translates to ‘respect’ or ‘honour’. It is the second of the sacred months and therefore it is haram to fight or engage in conflict during this time. Rajab is considered Allah’s (SWT) month and is therefore a highly significant time during the year. It’s believed the Creator designated Rajab as a sacred month so that Muslims could complete the voluntary pilgrimage, Umrah, without being attacked.
Sha’ban
The eighth month of the Islamic year is called Sha’ban and is considered the month of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is sometimes referred to as the neglected month because Rajab precedes it and Ramadan comes straight after it, but it is an important month nonetheless. Sha’ban means ‘scattered’ and relates to the time of the year when Arabs would historically scatter to find water. Nowadays, many Muslims use Sha’ban to prepare for Ramadan.
Ramadan
The ninth month of the Islamic calendar is one of the most prominent and is well known outside the Muslim community, too. Ramadan means ‘burning heat’ because it historically fell during a hot time of the year. Muslims observe Ramadan by fasting from dawn to dusk in order to cleanse their minds, bodies, and souls, and to be reminded of the fortune Allah (SWT) has bestowed upon them. Fasting gives Muslims an insight into what their lesser fortunate brothers and sisters go through when hungry.
Shawwal
After Ramadan comes the 10th month of Shawwal, which means ‘raised’. The meaning of the name relates to the fact that female camels are normally pregnant at this time of year. Shawwal is a celebratory month, with Eid al-Fitr taking place from the first to the third day. Lots of food, gifts, and prayers are exchanged during Shawwal, with many praying that their Ramadan is accepted by Allah (SWT).
Dhul al-Qadah
The 11th month of the Islamic calendar is Dhul al-Qadah which means ‘the month of truce’. It is the third sacred month during which Allah (SWT) forbids violence so that Muslims can make their way to Mecca to commence their Hajj safely. It is special because Allah (SWT) said so, and like the other sacred months, good and bad deeds are weighted more heavily at this time.
Dhul Hijjah
The final month of the Islamic year is the holiest and most significant of all. Dhul Hijjah means ‘pilgrimage’ and relates to the fact that Muslims carry out their religious due of Hajj during this month. There are many significant days during this month, including the Day of Arafah when Allah (SWT) finalised Islam. Other key dates include Qurbani, the Festival of Sacrifice that honours Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his devotion to the Creator. Following Qurbani is Big Eid, also called Eid al-Adha – a time for great celebration and joy. Dhul Hijjah is the fourth and final sacred month so that Muslims can complete Hajj in safety.

I want to share some thoughts..
I want to marry and have my husband provide for me financially and to stay home. On the other hand, there is a chance of divorce.. so if I don’t learn or become financially independent myself then what will happen once something happens. 10 years down the line we may divorce or he will be gone from the world. ☹️
Assalamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh sister,
I understand your concern, and I strongly believe this is a reason why today it is so important for every woman to get a degree, a bachelor's degree in the least! In the older days people were very community based, so a woman had a higher chance of people (brother, SIL, etc) willing to take care of her or share space with her than today. It's all about personal space and independence these days, which isn't all bad, it can be good but to an extent.
So this would be you tying your camel: if a hard time like you mentioned comes, you have something to fall back on and show employers you are educated. Yes, without experience it would be likely difficult to find a job, but it would be even more difficult to find one without experience or education.
So again, this step would be you tying your camel, and the next step would be you relying on Allah SWT. Allah gives hope for better things to come with these situations along with protections for the women, such as mahr, inheritence, child support, alimony etc.:
"O Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم)! When you divorce women, divorce them at their ‘Iddah (prescribed periods) and count (accurately) their ‘Iddah (periods1). And fear Allâh your Lord (O Muslims). And turn them not out of their (husband’s) homes nor shall they (themselves) leave, except in case they are guilty of some open illegal sexual intercourse. And those are the set limits of Allâh. And whosoever transgresses the set limits of Allâh, then indeed he has wronged himself. You (the one who divorces his wife) know not it may be that Allâh will afterward bring some new thing to pass (i.e. to return her back to you if that was the first or second divorce).
Then when they are about to attain their term appointed, either take them back in a good manner or part with them in a good manner. And take as witness two just persons from among you (Muslims). And establish the testimony for Allâh. That will be an admonition given to him who believes in Allâh and the Last Day. And whosoever fears Allâh and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty).
And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allâh, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allâh will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allâh has set a measure for all things." — Quran, 65:1-3
"The divorce is twice, after that, either you retain her on reasonable terms or release her with kindness. And it is not lawful for you (men) to take back (from your wives) any of your Mahr (bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) which you have given them, except when both parties fear that they would be unable to keep the limits ordained by Allâh (e.g. to deal with each other on a fair basis). Then if you fear that they would not be able to keep the limits ordained by Allâh, then there is no sin on either of them if she gives back (the Mahr or a part of it) for her Al-Khul‘ (divorce). These are the limits ordained by Allâh, so do not transgress them. And whoever transgresses the limits ordained by Allâh, then such are the Zâlimûn (wrong-doers)."
"The mothers shall give suck to their children for two whole years, (that is) for those (parents) who desire to complete the term of suckling, but the father of the child shall bear the cost of the mother’s food and clothing on a reasonable basis. No person shall have a burden laid on him greater than he can bear. No mother shall be treated unfairly on account of her child, nor father on account of his child. And on the (father’s) heir is incumbent the like of that (which was incumbent on the father). If they both decide on weaning, by mutual consent, and after due consultation, there is no sin on them. And if you decide on a foster suckling-mother for your children, there is no sin on you, provided you pay (the mother) what you agreed (to give her) on reasonable basis. And fear Allâh and know that Allâh is All-Seer of what you do."
I believe there is also a hadith or an ayah where it is said to the person passing away that they don't need to be worried for those they are leaving behind because Allah will take care of them. Even though I cannot find this, it is still a true statement. Our rizq is from Allah and in Him we put our trust.
lt was narrated from Abu Tameem that he heard `Umar bin al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) say:
I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say:
“If you truly put your trust in Allah, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds: they go out with empty stomachs and come back with full stomachs." — Musnad Ahmad, 370

Imam Hussain’s (as) last sermon to the Umayyad army in Karbala
On the 10th of Moharram in 61 A.H., Imam Hussains admonished the army of Banu Umayyad in Karabala by giving an eloquent Sermon.
Holy Prophet (saw) raised me up by feeding the Divine Prophecies.
I am the son of Prophet (saw) w and my mother is ‘Batool’sws (3).
I have been created as infallible Imam.
I have the privilege of being the son of Amir-ul-Momaneen (as) .
I am the son of that who holds the key to the future events and sustenance of the whole universe.
Hassan (Imam) has brought me up to his customs.
I am the Divine authority, recognise me prior to declaring war against me.
Be aware! You will close all the doors of forgiveness by killing me.
You are doing this for the attraction of your leader’s promised rewards, but if you ask me, I can bless you thousands’ time more than that.
(I know) collecting filth is in your genes.
You are unable to comprehend and (debate with doubts) that we regularly travel through the milky ways. (Be aware) Stars are nothing else but aftermath of footprints. North pole finds its direction from us.
Our destination is in ‘Qabah Quosaan(4); and ‘Bait-ul-Mamoor(5) is our residence.
‘Bismillah (6) refers to our beginning and ‘Yakhamah (7) concludes with our (attributes).
‘Innamah (8) describes our Divinity and Purity, ‘Allif-lam (9) is on our introduction,
‘WalAsr (10) is about our glandular status,
The Verse of ‘Feel (11) is the narration of our past,
‘Walfaj (12) has borrowed colours from us, ‘Filqurbah (13) is the means to seek nearness to us, the verse of ‘Dahr (14) is on our generosity, ‘MinYashra’ defines our rights,
‘Al-Taha’ is about our way of life, the Verse of ‘Muzimmil (15) is our outfit,
the verse of ‘AlQadr1 (16) authenticate our (Divine) rights, it is in our jurisdiction to change the direction of ‘Qabateen’ (17)
We attend to the needs of others in ‘Rukku (18) of prayers.
Our traditions became the principles of religion; we are the ‘Ibrahimy (19).
However, those who could not gain guidance from 63 years of preaching will not be influenced by my words. You are blinded by the ‘worthless’ rewards and are inclined to disgrace Holy Prophet’s family (as) -which would result in your eternal punishment.
1 Nahjul Asrar, reference, Usool-e-Kafi, vol, 1, chapter 20.’
2 Salawat wassalam
3 Prophet Mohammed saww’s daughter’s title meaning a lady created from the Divine Noor.
4 The highest point in the heavens.
5 Highest point in skies where Divine Throne is located.
6 The Name of God

8 Al- Ahzab, Chapter 21, verse 33. Indeed Allah swt wants to keep uncleanness away from Ahlul Bait

I do not know where to start the storytelling session from, but here is the brief version, 8 years ago I got accepted in a master's degree, I was happy, proud, excited, you name it.. but I was in a different phase of my life where my priorities weren't straight, and I sorta did things for the wrong reasons, but that's not the point. After studying and passing the first 2 years it was time to work on my research and write the MA dissertation thesis.. which took me about 2 years of wasted time, and I missed all the deadlines and ended up quitting and leaving the program without graduating. It was one of the hardest times it in my life. I only have one description for it: Painful. When I was trying to work on my research I was utterly and completely lost. I struggled with crippling anxiety, I wasn't sleeping or living properly, I was way under rock bottom. I remember the nights where I tried to force myself to study or write something, my arms would hurt and freeze on me, I couldn't even move my fingers on the keyboard, and I would end up crying myself to sleep. I watched my days slip away, my classmates making progress and me falling behind.. I still remember the pages of " pros and cons " on my diary that I filled with reasons trying to ease my pain and convince myself that I didn't need to graduate and that a degree doesn't make you happy. Anyways, let me save you guys the ugly details, long story short, I gave up. It was too painful. I let the rope go. How did I live on with that feeling and with the circumstances? Obviously not healthily. Little did I know back then that it was all a part of Allah's plan and Allah's test for me. Alhamdulillah. That was mid 2018.
A year later, I picked up school again. I enrolled in the master's program all over again, I had already gotten a full time job and still, with Allah's blessings, managed to study and work, pass my exams, improve my grades, and a year and a half later I found myself face to face with the research and the dissertation again, aka, my nightmare. Obviously, my very unstable brain decided to bring back all the psychological damage from last time and live in it. The episode of severe anxiety had begun, I went on antidepressants, I took a leave from work on to focus on research but all I did was procrastinate and cry about it. I know I tend to whine a lot on tumblr but a few of you have been close enough to me to witness the struggle and to see my pain, I am beyond grateful to any one and everyone who ever helped me even with a simple word of encouragement, may Allah swt bless your hearts and grant you pure happiness. Anyways, it was painful as well, except that this time, I did things the right way, with a closer relationship to Allah swt than my 2018 self, and seeking therapy, I was making progress, and obviously when you see yourself making progress it gives you a sensation of reward, you get high on the dopamine and you find the energy to keep going, and to reach the finish line, Alhamdulillah!
And it happened, with Allah's blessings and mercy it happened, with Allah's kindness and generosity it happened, and today, I am a holder of a Master's degree in applied linguistics after a journey of eight whole years!
Now of course shaytan can't see you or let you put your effort in something and work hard on it without trying to shake your self-esteem and distracting you with negative thoughts, like what are you doing? Your friends graduated 4 or 5 years ago. Have you seen how old you are? You couldn't do it last time there is no point in doing it now! It is pointless and your work is very mediocre. You are only wasting your time, blah blah blah.. But the key to break this vicious circle of self-doubt and negative self-talk is to realize the following:
To each their path, to each they journey, according to their own right timing. There is no rule in life that holds us to reach a certain milestone at an exact age or timing. To each their own experiences, and each person blooms differently, which is beautiful. There are 7.7 billion people in the world, do you think they all have the same goal or the same definition of success? do you think they all graduated by the age of 22 or 25? How many people do you even think got to go to college? It is not a fixed template that we have to all adjust our lives to. Absolutely not. Do not compare your journey to anyone else's!!! Walk your own path, with your own steps, write your own story!
And remember, it is okay to try again. It is okay to start over. It is never too late. You are gonna make it, the way you are supposed to make it and not the way other people made it. Success looks different from one person to the other. What works well for you does not necessarily work out for others. And if you fail? That's okay! Trial and error is a part of the learning process. Making mistakes is what makes us human, and perseverance is what makes us superhuman.
Writing this with all the love in the world. May Allah swt bless your journey and grant you the strength and patience to keep going. May Allah swt grant you success in this duniyah and the akhirah.
