If BMBO FM is still taking requests, could I get "Dancing Queen" by ABBA? It's my wife's favorite and I'd like to surprise her after a long day at work.
I’m no longer accepting BMBO FM requests. I may bring this interactive back at a later date but for now this and several others that I got earlier will be my limit until my move is complete.
*****************
When the door slammed you knew it had been a bad day for her. She walked into the room with a sour look on her face. You could tell she was fighting to not take it out on you.
You poured her a glass of wine and went to the kitchen to order something for dinner. As you did, you saw BMBO FM radio app. You knew you could cheer up your wife and it was perfect that it was request hour. You knew the perfect song to play.
Your turned the station on and had it playing quietly in the background as other requests played out. The food was delivered quickly as you refilled the wine glass at least two more times.
After eating her favorite food, you cleaned up for her. She just let her head rest against the back of the couch, dreading to returning to another day in the job. She was a mix of depressed and panicked thinking about it.
Suddenly the DJ came on “alright, this one is for all my dancing queens out there. Show me what you got!” The familiar opening played out and you went to turn up the volume.
She didn’t budge at first. Didn’t even recognize that the song had begun to play. But you walked to her and pulled her out of her own mind. You swayed back and forth with her. She was a touched confused at first, but once she heard what was on and realized what was happening, she smiled. It might have been the first genuine smile in a few days because of that damn job.
As the song headed into the chorus. She perked up again and begin moving more on her own. She added in hip movement and they seemed to grow with the music. She found her rhythm and began to dance for you instead of with you. She wanted to put on a show for you. It was almost if she had gotten the personality of a show girl or dancer.
As she bent down and did a dramatic hair flip up, her hair shimmered to an icy platinum color. Her lips seemed to puff up become the focal point of her face. Her beauty made her that much more hypnotic to watch.
As she kept eye contact with you, she began to grind up on you. You didn’t even realize how huge her butt was. It was hard to not look at that face, but her ass definitely was eye catching as well.
She spun around and as she came back around there was more bounce. Her previously average sized chest was now massive. Perfect for a stripper to bring in lots of cash. She made sure her dance moves called attention to them.
She strut around the room to the beat of the song pulling sexy poses. Her thigh high boots and newest lingerie were perfect for this. Sure she spent a lot of money on clothes, but she earned it and it made her happy, so why would you stop her. Im fact, you encouraged it.
Having men and women leer at her and give her their money was incredibly hot. They could only look at her, watch her her dance. Maybe a few for Han day. But nothing went beyond stares and some light touching. It was even hotter that she came home to you and was so horny almost every night. You got to fuck her.
And she practiced for you. She had the pole on the living room so she could rehearse her moves. She figured out what could drive people wild. How to tease them and get them to throw all the money they had. She moved gracefully up and down the pole, making sure to tease you with her most provocative moves.
As she slid down the pole and crawled to your feet, you pulled out a wad of cash for her to take you upstairs to the private bedroom for a different kind of show. She would have a good day at work now.

Happy 64th Birthday Brian Alexander "B. A." Robertson, born September 12th 1956.
Robertson was born and raised in Glasgow attending the former Allan Glen's School, Glasgow,[and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama. He recorded his first album "Wringing Applause", for Ardent Records in 1973. It enjoyed modest critical acclaim, and a nomination in Down Beat Magazine's year end poll. He made four further albums, but had little commercial success.
During these years, he combined his career as an artist in a writing and production partnership with bassist Herbie Flowers. BA wrote and produced with Herbie, and worked with an eclectic crowd, including Lionel Bart, Joe Brown, Jim Cregan, Ray Cooper, Micky Dolenz, Gillian Gregory, Georg Kajanus, Harry Nilsson, Phil Pickett, Annie Ross, Sandie Shaw, and Chris Spedding.
He made his first television appearance with Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel (1976), played piano on the B side of "Come Up And See Me Make Me Smile".
Before finding fame in his own right B A teamed up with guitarist Terry Britten and wrote over 20 worldwide hits, the pick of them for Cliff Richard, the songs Carrie and Wired for Sound, the latter was nominated Ivor Novello Song of the Year in 1981.
It was around the same time his singing career took off. He enjoyed chart success in Europe, with six hit singles as an artist. The first, "Bang Bang", achieved sales over 1 million, the last Flight 19, in 1982, a #1 in Iceland! This track inspired a ground breaking music video directed by Brian Grant. BA was nominated Ivor Novello Songwriter of the Year 1980, UK Male Vocalist, Daily Mirror Rock & Pop Awards 1980, JVC Scottish Musician of the Year 1982. He recorded with Maggie Bell in 1982, Frida from Abba, 83, and Lulu in 84.
As well as appearing in concert, he also featured on radio and television. Was a frequent guest broadcaster for the BBC, from 1980 to 1985. Hosted his own music series "BA In Music". In 1986 he was commissioned to compose the music for The Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. He has written more than 30 themes, songs, and scores, for film, television and special events. These include "The Other Side of The World" by Chaka Khan for the motion picture "White Nights", music for one of the UK's longest running talk shows "Wogan", and "We Have A Dream" for Scotland's World Cup Football Squad of 1982.
Throughout the 80's and 90's he continued to write and work in the studio with another diverse group, including Sam Brown, Roger Daltrey, Lonnie Donegan, Dave Edmunds, Bernard Edwards, Peter Frampton, Alan Gorrie, John Jarvis, Maz + Kilgore, Joe Sample, Helena Springs, and Andy Taylor (Duran Duran).
He met Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford in 1985, and began a second long term writing collaboration. He introduced Paul Carrack to the embryo Mike & The Mechanics. As writer and musician, he featured on six of their studio albums. Wrote their first hit single "Silent Running", Billboard's number 1 Rock Song of 1986, and the international success, "The Living Years". This most celebrated of his lyrics written when his father died twelve weeks before the birth of his son.
At the 1990 Grammy Awards, "The Living Years" had four nominations, including Song of the Year. BA was pipped for the statuettes by good friend Arif Mardin and "The Wind Beneath My Wings". In London, at The Ivor Novellos, 'The Living Years' topped 1991 Grammy winner "Another Day in Paradise" for Best Song.
He was invited to set up offices at The Walt Disney Studio, by Michael Eisner, and Jeffrey Katzenburg. BA moved with his family to Los Angeles. He remained a feature on the lot for over three years. Was Creator, and Producer of Grammy nominated, multi-platinum, music video, "Simply Mad About The Mouse". Artists include Harry Connick Jnr., LL Cool J., Billy Joel, and Bobby McFerrin.
1991 saw "Silent Running" and "The Living Years", awarded "MillionAir" status by BMI, for more than one million broadcast performances in the US. "Silent Running" has now reached almost three million plays, and 'The Living Years' over four.
From 1993 through 1995, he put together, "With Your Hand on My Heart" for Patti LaBelle and Michael Crawford. Michael's album had a double Grammy nomination and world wide sales of more than 2 million. Wrote music for "Baywatch", the world's most popular television show and collaborated on a musical with Burt Bacharach.
He continued to work with Mike & The Mechanics, had six songs in the "Beggar On A Beach of Gold" project including the title song, and another six on their, multi-platinum CD, "Hits". He worked as writer, and musical associate to Phil Ramone on the stage production "EFX”, at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. The opening song "Somewhere in Time”, a collaboration with John Barry.
For the past 20 years or so Robertson has lived in Ireland, continually working on various projects he is still in high demand, Over the years, B A has accumulated more than 70 silver, gold, and platinum record awards. He lives with his wife, designer Karen Manners, they have two adult children.
I've chosen this song because it is my favourite Scottish World goal offering, remember, if you are old enough, four years previously, Andy Cameron proclaimed, We're Going to WIN the world Cup, by the time 1982 came B A Robertson knew that it was a dream. Oh I must add, the last World Cup Scotland was in 1998, and the much more realistic song was by Del Amitri, and calle Don't come home too soon, which as always we did, failing to get beyond the first stages yet again

Super Fëmmes release *Guilty Pleasure* as their second single
Tumblr media
Super Fëmmes is a new Swedish girl band representing a powerful and edgy, yet traditional and glamorous pop music that blurs the lines between a variety of influences. The group is a constellation of the 90’s pop icons – Emilia, Miio, DeDe Lopez and Therese “Drömhus” Grankvist – who joined forces in this super group during 2021 with the purpose to create music and perform together. Recently, Super Fëmmes released their first song, a cover of the Rozalla hit Everybody’s free (from 1991). The song is produced by the renowned team Hertzberg & Funke who had recent successes with hits like Save tonight. The song was released April 29 and has in this short period of time reached great traction, both in Sweden and internationally (markets like US, UK and Germany). As a second single, Super Fëmmes will soon be releasing the newly written song Guilty Pleasure on June 17, 2022. Guilty Pleasure is written by Collin Idzikowski, Tor Eimon, Julia Gartha, Jakke Erixson plus the Super Fëmmes member Denise DeDe Lopez. It is produced by Jakke Erixson, a Swedish musician, composer and producer based in Los Angeles. Erixson has earlier worked with artists like e.g. Christina Aguilera and Rod Stewart and, on the producer side, Max Martin and RedOne among others. Super Fëmmes will also tour this summer with their premiere at the large Swedish festival Vi som älskar 90-talet (Gothenburg, Stockholm and Helsingborg) where they will appear with their newly created show which entails a mix of their previous hits and the newly produced material. About: Super Fëmmes The name Super Fëmmes is a symbol for coming together as women, strengthening and empowering each other – all women are super women and we’re stronger together. We flirt with our roots in the 90’s era, inspired by female superheroes like Spice Girls and Charlie’s Angels, but mixing it with a modern vibe – all with a touch of glamour, attitude and class. With our different backgrounds and influences we are proud to have come together, unified in one group, and we aim to challenge the narrow view for women when it comes to who can do modern pop music and why – passion for music has no limits when it comes to age, race or appearance.   Emilia Mitiku Her world hit Big Big World had an international breakthrough when it was released in 1998 and the single set a new record in Sweden with 70,000 records sold in only 3 weeks (5.5. million copies in total)! The song wasa huge hit and was placed #1 on the charts in 18 countries at the same time and, also, later became a huge hit in China 2004 where it’s still used as a part of English education. Emilia was discovered in 1996 by Lars Anderson, son of the ABBA manager Stig “Stikkan” Anderson. She used the mononym Emilia in the early years of her career but later started to perform under the name Emilia Mitiku, using her father’s surname. In 2009, she competed in Melodifestivalen (Swedish Eurovision Song Contest) with the song You’re My World where she qualified for the finale. During the 2010’s Emilia has composed music in the genre “vintage pop” with the album I Belong to you (2012) among other   Therese Grankvist Therese’s music career started in 1996 when she called Sony music and recorded a song on their answering machine. When she later met the famous Swedish musician Dr. Alban, he convinced her to join the new eurodance project Drömhus. In 1997, the first single of Drömhus, Du och jag (You and I) was released. The big breakthrough, however, came in 1998 with the single Vill ha dig (Want You), a cover of a hit by the band Freestyle in the 1980s. The song reached triple platinum in sales and was placed #1 in all Nordic countries at the same time, an achievement that only ABBA reached before. In Melodifestivalen (Swedish Eurovision Song Contest) 1999, Drömhus competed with the song Stjärna på himmelen where she ended up on an honourable second place. After a successful career as Drömhus in the Nordics (250,000 albums sold), Therese moved over to a club music career in English and released the hit single Monkey in 2002. Hence, internationally Therese might be mostly known for this music and for her collab with the Swedish DJ and producer StoneBridge and the songs Put Em High and Take Me Away (released on Hed Kandi in 2004), both placed top 10 on the UK charts. Therese also had a successful collaboration with Danny Saucedo with whom she released the hit song If only you in 2007. Denise “DeDe” Lopez DeDe signed her first record deal with Sony Music in 1994 after have toured the world as a dancer behind artists like Melodie MC, Dr. Alban and Culture Beat. Her single Party was released in 1995 and was the song that opened up an international career for DeDe. The biggest success came in Japan where she quickly was awarded a gold record. DeDe’s biggest hit song, My Lover, was written by Max Martin, Per Magnusson, David Kreuger, Kristian Lundin and DeDe herself. DeDe has worked with prominent producers and songwriters such as Max Martin, Andreas Carlsson, Per Magnusson, David Kreuger, Anders Bagge, Derek Bramble (David Bowie & Whitney Houston), Herbie Crichlow, Father Mc, Pras Michel (Fugees), Mc Lyte and Michael Feiner. She has over 500,000 albums sold and was the only Swedish artist to open up for Michael Jackson in his Gothenburg concert in 1997. In 1999, DeDe had a concert in Japan playing at the Tokyo Dome for around 100,000 Japanese fans (!) In 2007, the song Turn you on was released featuring the Fugee star Pras Michael and in 2008 she was, together with Pras, the opening act to 50 Cent in Helsinki. Her latest single, Dare to change the world feat. Mc Lyte, written and produced by DeDe herself, reached the US top 20 list in 2018. Miio – Mia Schotte & Josefine Willers Mia & Josefine met already at ten years of age in the child performance industry when they both sang at a Swedish national TV show (Soffipropp, TV4). Since then, Mia and Josefine both have been engaged in various music projects together, with others and solo. Miio started of as a teenage pop duo in 2003 and immediately reached great success in the Swedish charts. började som tonårspopduo 2003 och nådde stora framgångar på listorna i Sverige under de följande åren. Mia & Josefine first met in the children’s artist industry and performed together for the first time at the age of 10 years on a TV show for children, broadcasted on national television (“Soffipropp”, TV4). Since then, Mia and Josefine have been engaged in various music projects, together as well as on their own. Miio started off as a teen pop duo in 2003 and reached great success on the charts in Sweden during the following years. Their releases became popular with the Swedish audience and two of the singles (“När vi två blir en” and “Ska vi gå hem till dig”) sold gold, as did the album released in 2003 (“På vårt sätt” / In our own way). They have collaborated with several Swedish rap legends such as Ken Ring, Ayo and Daddy Boastin. After taking a break from the Miio project in 2006, the duo reunited more than ten years later and have done selected gigs around the country since then Read the full article

pairing: george weasley x fem!reader , george weasley x angelina johnson, bill weasley x fem!reader
summary: (part iii of mamma mia! series) after arriving on the island of kalokairi, she’s met with a storm, a horse and another very attractive ginger man.
warnings: mamma mia!au, muggle!au, angst, fluff, au where george isn’t that close with his family, mentions of storms, thunder, lightning, mentions of an abandoned house, broken stairs and windows, etc.
words: 3.7k
a/n: i mentioned in the first two parts of this that this was an au where the weasleys aren’t siblings but i decided they were so… yeah :)
Tumblr media
y/n explored the small secluded island.
she found a large abandoned house. she could really make something out of it, she thought.
she saw something in it, a hotel maybe or a restaurant. an attraction for tourists and newcomers. sure, the place had broken windows and moldy floors but with the right motivation, what could stop her?
the place had a blue tone to it. aquamarine doors and shutters. the white walls and destroyed rooms. there were vines all over the place, intoxicating the beauty of home.
she tried sliding down the railing of the beautifully made staircase, she ended up destroying it.
she heard thunder from a distance, a few short minutes later, rain started pouring down with lightning. but, she still continues exploring the abandoned house.
faint noises of neighing can be heard in the distance. she steps down on unstable looking stairs, to what looks like a basement. the walls were made out of rocks and there was rainwater coming inbetween the loose floorboards from upstairs.
“hello?!” she yelled.
she found a tall brown horse tied down to piece of plywood. y/n could barely see anything.
the horse panicked, he jumped and broke the piece of wood. the floorboards from above collapsed due to the horse’s sudden movements. y/n yelped and jumped back.
the piece of wood the horse was tied to now under the debris. the rain was pouring, she was soaked from head to toe.
y/n thought for a moment ‘what could she do?’ she thought of calling for help. “wait there, okay? i’ll be back, yeah?” she ran back up to look for any bystanders or passerby’s.
she ran down a gravelly road until she was met with a man driving a motorcycle.
“stop! stop!” she stood right in front of the moving vehicle to catch the rider’s attention.
the rider had bright ginger hair and freckles just like the other two men she’s been with in the past week. the man stopped his motorcycle looking concerned and scared.
“can i help?”
she dragged him out of his bike and back to the house. she led him down to the basement, trying to avoid all the damage they could cause.
they prodded across all the broken floorboards in front of the horse.
“you have a plan?” she panted.
“oh, absolutely, i’m a trained veterinarian.” he uttered.
“really?” she looked up at him, a little hope enflaming in her heart.
“no. no, i’m a businessman but don’t tell this guy that” the small hope in her heart died out. how could he be joking at a time like this?
he lifted her over another piece of debris before marching over to the panicked animal. the horse jumped and the stepped back.
“woah! okay!”
“i’ll distract him, you grab the halter” she offered.
“good plan,” he looked at her “what’s the halter?” he asked, confused.
she did a double take at him until forming a new plan “just — just talk calmly.”
“easier when i’m calm” he expressed “alright, my friend.” he climbed over the fence
“storms are scary,” he started “and i wish i was home and dry right now, too, but believe me,” y/n climbed over the fence too but going over to the horse’s behind.
“it came down to a choice between leaving you and helping you,” he looked at y/n then back at the horse.
“there’s no choice at all.” the two of them stepped closer to the horse and grabbed his forehead, calming him down. y/n was clinging onto his gear and rope.
“good boy, good boy” she rubbed the horse’s forehead.
the two became quite acquainted. she’s noticed a type since she’s departed off to explore the world. tall gingers with freckled faces. she’s also noticed that only ron’s mentioned his last name. for all she knows they could all be siblings.
he introduced himself as george. he mentioned he lived, in the exact words, ‘in a shack on a hill’.
“ha! and what the hell were you doing there?” she laughed at his answer. they were exploring the seaside while getting to know each other.
“uh… i don’t know, running away i guess.” he stammered “everything at home was lined up for me. a great job and just, you know, my whole life mapped out. i wanted to take a break before i signed up to it” he sighed.
“how ‘bout you?” he nodded over to her.
all she did was purse her lips and shrug. “i have absolutely nothing mapped out. and no clue about what the future holds.”
she walked forward “enough walking. let’s ride.” he smiled at her and followed.
he brought her to the town. she went shopping for her new wardrobe. george just thought it would be fun to go with her.
right now, she was in a changing room trying on all her different outfits.
“so, how come you’re here all alone, saving horses?” he asked right outside the curtain.
“uh,” she stammered “i’ve been traveling my whole life. my dad was never in the picture, and my mum’s always on tour.”
“oh. she sings?”
“sweet as sugarcane.”
“you know, there’s some great stuff here. this dress would look very pretty on-“ he was holding up a very tacky blue dress that looked like a nighty. he turned away from the hats and dresses as she emerged from the curtains in a whole new outfit.
she was wearing denim dungarees with a floral yellow top. she was barefoot and spinning around to show him to full outfit.
“you don’t know me at all do you?” she noticed the dress he was holding. the two just laughed it off.
once again they found themselves somewhere else. this time a small restaurant, pub, bar whatever you could call it.
there was a live bad and the lead singer was obviously drunk and absolutely horrible.
“god! this whole place is incredible” she exclaimed as george came back with their drinks “i am definitely staying here forever.”
“yeah? your mum wouldn’t miss you?”
“no, she’s not that kind of mom” she brushed it off and laughed.
“oh, i’m sorry. i didn’t…”
“oh! oh, this isn’t a sob story, i’m fine!” she furrowed her brows and assured him.
“and it’s not easy being a mother. if it was, fathers would do it” she continued.
“well, i wish i could stay here, too.” he absorbed everything happening around him. a chaotic love band in front of him and a very pretty lady right next to him.
“oh, when do you go back?” she sipped her drink “to your fully programmed, good job, short haircut life?”
they both let out a small laugh “i have a week”.
“oh!” she cleared her throat and her focus went back to the band.
“listen, about what’s waiting for me back home.”
“yeah, hang on, hang on” she cheered for the band as they ended a song.
she was laughing and cheering and having the time of her life. “i am definitely staying here.”
he forgot what he was about to say and just laughed at her antics.
she raised her hand at the short lady behind the bar. “excuse me. are you the owner?” she inquired.
“my son the owner. he had to buy bar because no other place he let his band play.”
“hello!” the lead singer, the lady’s son sat down on their table “so, how can i help you?”
“well, firstly, you’re all awesome” this was the thing about y/n. even if he was horrible and drunkenly singing, she loved that he was having fun and enjoying what he was doing. that should be the purpose if everything in life.
“oh!” his eyes lit up at the compliment.,”and second,” she placed her hands on his “i’d like to sing here sometime with my group.” she offered.
“you have a good voice” the owner raised his eyebrow.
“oh, sweet as sugarcane” george affirmed and winked back at y/n.
“okay… then let us hear.” he gave the mic to y/n.
“oh, no. not just like that.” she leaned back on her chair and chuckled nervously.
“here on island, everything just like that. it’s the path of happiness. you think too much, you get unhappy” the man exaggerated, stood up and offered his hand to y/n.
she stood up from her chair, silently asking george for help. all he did was shrug in response.
“thinking at all is pretty much… a mistake.” he lead her to the stage and twirled her around.
“well, in that case,” she sighed “uh… okay.”
she started humming, then singing andante, andante by abba, capella.
everyone was shocked to say the least. george, the owner’s mother, the few customers all paid attention to the stage.
the instruments started platinum in the background while a disco ball softly spun. she chuckled nervously before continuing.
she walked off the stage while singing.
“you are hired!” the owner excitedly yelled.
“really?” her eyes widened.
“yes! you are really, really, really, hired!” he hugged her.
she cheered while the owner gestured for his mother to serve them drinks.
later that evening, george brought y/n to his little “shack on a hill” to stay for the night.
they stopped right before the door, the stars brightly shining in the sky. before any of them knew, the two leaned in to press their lips against each other’s, george’s hand on the side of her face her arms around her neck.
it seemed like all time went out the window, she was laying in his bed, fully nude under the covers right next to him.
the next day, george planned a whole itinerary for the two. they went for breakfast in the town. he told her about all the food his mum cooked for his whole family. he exclusively told her about his twin brother, his sister and his parents. he didn’t want to talk about the others.
right after breakfast, here they were, on a boat to explore off the island.
“right” george grunted as he lifted the paddles of the boat.
“i don’t think you know what you’re doing” y/n chuckled.
“i’m hoping,” he panted “if i keep pulling these two bits of wood, we might eventually bump into land”
“oh, okay.” she was uncertain and a bit nervous to say the least. non of them knew where they were going, for all she knows they migjt end up stranded.
“there’s another little island over there. i thought we might go for a little picnic” she looked over his shoulder where she assumed where the island was.
“where’s the food?” she leaned back to absorb the sunlight shining down on them.
“oh, you’re gonna catch it, on the way” he winked. she chuckled and picked up what was supposed to be a fishing net.
george continued rowing we he admired her beauty.
“uh…” she stammered “so, we haven’t talked about last night.”
george faltered “no…”
“you should know that i never do that, as fast.” she explained “i mean, hardly ever.”
she paused “well, sometimes — a bit recently, in fact. but not on the whole, not.”
“i thought it was miraculous” he assured.
“um, i’m gonna say something here, and you should shut up as i’m saying it because you’ll think i’m crazy for a while, but gradually you’ll… you’ll realize i’m right, and then you’ll spend the rest of your life thanking me for saving so much time and getting straight to it.”
george looked at her skeptically “well, i’m ready”
“i wasn’t joking yesterday, i was serious. i want to stay here, and i think you should, too. i think we should make a choice to do something radical and wonderful, to live in this extraordinary place with someone…” she hesitated before continuing “someone miraculous.”
when george just stared at her she spoke up again “i told you, you’d think it was crazy.”
he sighed before speaking up “i don’t think it’s that simple. nothing is.”
“everything is, when you break it down”
george looked out at the distance before looking back at her. she was the most miraculous thing he’s ever seen, touched, interacted with.
y/n was biting her lip as she awaited an answer from him. when he chuckled, she felt a smile creep onto her face.
“i don’t think it’s crazy.”
she chuckled “that’ll do; for now”
he took out his camera to snap a picture of an angel in human form, sitting across him. he didn’t know why he ever thought of leaving her, even if they did just meet a day ago.
they had a lot of fun the rest of the day. taking photos of each other, catching fish, having a picnic and almost getting lost.
another few days went by, they slept in the same ‘shack’, in the same bed, doing everything together.
y/n was wide awake at 5am in the morning. she was scribbling in her journal everything that’s happened with george. she was happy ; no, ecstatic! she felt alive and amazing.
she stopped writing as she gazed at him. still fast asleep next to her.
she went out to the balcony and walked around wherever her feet took her. picking oranges, doing cartwheels on the sand. she also fell while picking said oranges, it fell on her head and a goat almost chased her off the island.
when she got back to george’s shack. she made the two of them breakfast. she was almost done before she opened a drawer on the kitchen island.
in it was a bunch of knives and other cutlery, and a journal, most probably george’s. it was brown leather with a sealed with a leather band.
she couldn’t help it, she picked it up and pulled a photo that was sticking out of it.
y/n’s fantasy world crumbled at her feet. it was george. her george. he was cradling a dark skinned woman at his side. she was tall, beautiful, everything george probably wanted. she saw a gaudy engagement ring on her finger. that did it for y/n, she slammed the book down and ran for it.
the loud noise woke george up. he put on some clothes and ran after her.
she just ran and ran until she arrived back at the farmhouse she found the horse in.
“y/n! y/n! please, just listen to me” he pleaded.
“love to” she yelled sarcastically.
“you will?”
“yeah, of course. i’ll listen while you answer three questions” she stood at the too of the broken stairs, glaring daggers at him.
all he did was nod in response.
“are you engaged to that beautiful woman?”
“yes”
oh lord, did she feel like breaking down again. but she couldn’t, he was right there in front of her, a few steps down.
“and did you tell me about it?” her ring clad hands clenched into tight fists.
“no” he shook his, looking down at his shoes.
“and do you seriously think i could ever forgive you?” she asked one last time, breathless.
“please, y/n.” he pleaded once more.
“go! leave!” she stomped up the stairs, not caring if she fell through the pathetic pieces if wood.
“please just listen to me”
“that is enough listening! go!” she screamed at him at the top of her lungs before marching up the stairs again.
he just stood there. not knowing what to say. he just lost the possible love of his life.
of course, he loved angelina. but did he love her the way he loved y/n? considering how heartbroken he is about y/n now? probably not.
he heard her slam a door. he sighed before leaving the farmhouse in despair.
he ran back to his house with tears in his eyes. he packed up his bags, and decided to just go home.
y/n on the other hand was destroying what was left of the farmhouse. she pulled at her own hair while she watched the waves going back and forth through the window. she really like george, between ron and bill.
she most definitely thought he’d be the one.
the last time y/n saw george was when he was leaving with a boat. she was standing by a tree as he was whisked away back to his planned life.
she came back to the horse under the farmhouse. she stroked and hugged it for comfort.
a few days go by of y/n sitting in the old overgrown room, sobbing. she was heartbroken.
the only way she could fix it was either by singing, which she was not in the mood to, or being with her friends.
it resulted in option number two. she waited for fleur and dawn at the dock.
when she heard gasps of her name, she immediately turned to see her two most favorite people in the world.
her sullen face turned into a small smile as she ran to hug them. the two were screaming and shrieking to see their best friend again.
they met in the middle of the pier in a tight hug. they missed each other so much!
“oh my god! i see what you mean!” fleur exclaimed.
“this is beautiful!” dawn was jumping around, arms wide open as she twirled to see the place “this place is paradise!”
“i’m so glad you’re here” she sniffled.
they noticed her expression. their faces fell. “what’s happened?” “where’s the hot architect?”
“oh.. turns out he was lying to me.” she confessed.
“he’s not an architect?” dawn asked.
she shook her head no “he’s engaged, to someone else.”
she let out a small pathetic laugh “and she looks beautiful, and now he’s gone back to her.” her voice was shaky almost breaking down in tears again.
“i hate it when they do that” fleur rubbed her arm comfortingly.
“oh!” the three hugged again.
she explained to them everything that’s happened, including ron, bill and the pub, everything.
they rode the horse as she led them to where she’s been sleeping. “so, i’ve been sleeping in this farmhouse. but it’s the most beautiful place in the world. and it also has a horse.”
“yes, very romantic. we’re taking you home.” fleur sighed.
“uh, not before a fabulous performance by the greatest girl band in the world.” dawn interjected.
“yes!” “we’ve got all the gear! where are we playing?”
“oh! no, no, no. i can’t. i can’t. i’m not in the mood” y/n groaned.
“oh! but it will put you in that mood!”
“of course it will! the floodlights, the grease paint, the adrenaline of the crowd. a thousand descendants of great greek warriors cheering and clapping furiously as the irresistible beat transforms their bodies into pulsating pilars of flesh!”
when they git to the pub. it was as dead as the relationship between y/n and george.
no one was there. the band was exhausted out of their mind and the owner’s mother was serving just one customer.
“i don’t know how to sing about love when i’m not feeling it.”
“then, sing about what you are feeling.” fleur suggested.
y/n sang the beginning of mamma mia by abba in a sullen, depressing tone.
the band started watching her with comforting smiles in their faces. y/n slowly moved to the center of the stage, standing and swaying her hips a little.
when she got to the pre-chorus, the pace picked up a bit and the tone was more fiery and fun. the band started playing again.
dawn and fleur cheered before joining her on stage.
“yes, y/n!”
when they continued performing to the second verse, the owner whistled for more people to come in.
people started crowding the pub when she ran back on stage. the three were jumping and stomping to the beat.
the dancer around the pub and ended up on the bar counter.
dawn ended up accidentally pushing y/n off the counter and into the arms of another familiar ginger man.
“bill?!” it was bill. the man with the boat.
fleur was eyeing the two up and down. she definitely thought bill was attractive.
fleur and dawn left them alone against fleur’s will. she didn’t pass up the chance to walk by them every time though.
when fleur sat back down across dawn, she started ranting.
“my point is—“
“i know what your point is.”
“you don’t know what my point is.” she argued.
“your point is that you fancy him.”
she hummed back “you see? you were wrong. that’s not my point. it’s not that i fancy him. my point is, actually, that i love him and i want to have his babies and eventually push him around in a wheelchair and scatter his ashes.”
dawn spit her drink back into the glass to look at fleur weirdly. “i see.”
“and he likes y/n. and i don’t think that’s very fair.”
“he can help her feel better.”
“d’you know what makes me feel better when my heart’s broken? cake. why doesn’t she just do that instead? just eat humongous amounts of cake and leave hot ginger guy to me.”
they looked back over at y/n and bill. they were talking and laughing and generally just enjoying themselves.
“i’m going in” fleur smiled.
“no. you’re staying out, sister, because you love y/n and you want her to be happy.”
as dawn sat fleur back down, y/n and bill approached them. “hey guys”
“hi” the two said back, fleur’s drink accidentally spilling from her mouth.
“this is my friend bill” she pointed to him.
“hi!” fleur said again, flustered “it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“we’ve heard nothing about you.” dawn said, fleur laughing saying ‘hi’ again.
“i brought y/n here on my boat.” bill explained.
“you’ve got a boat!” fleur exclaimed “he’s got a boat!”
“and then i worried about her so i came back.” bill continued.
“he worries, he cares. and he’s got a boat!”
“and now, i’m taking her out to sea again.”
“taking her out to sea again. in the boat”
dawn looked at fleur weirdly before fleur sat down and downed her drink.
“you don’t think i should go?” y/n stepped forward and whispered to dawn.
“are you kidding? of course, you should.” dawn turned around the get fleur again “tell her she should go.”
fleur stayed silent for a few seconds before dawn slapped her arm a few times. “you should absolutely go.”
“that’s what i’m saying”
“i- i’m saying it too. go.”
“go! and do everything i’d do!” dawn stepped forward.
“nearly everything. i’m sorry.” fleur pulled her back.
“thanks, guys. i’ll be back soon.”
“bye, darlin’!” “bye.”
when y/n was out of sight, fleur’s smile faltered. “could i get some cake please?”
“some cake over here?” dawn gestured for a waiter.
“— a lot of cake!”

HOMILY for Pentecost Sunday
Acts 2:1-11; Ps 103; Romans 8:8-17; John 14:15-16,23-26
Tumblr media
Pentecost is, as the name suggests, the fiftieth day after Easter; originally it was a Jewish festival observed fifty days after the first day of Passover, which is why so many pilgrims were gathered in Jerusalem at the time. In the Bible, the number Fifty was significant: it spoke of God’s gifts, God’s providence and generosity, God’s bounty and forgiveness. For in the book of Leviticus, every fiftieth year was proclaimed to be a time of rest, of relief from debt and hard labour, a sign of God’s forgiveness and redemption. The name yovel was given to this year, which in English is called Jubilee.
This name of course, coincides happily with the Platinum Jubilee we commemorate this weekend, and it is right that we give thanks for God’s providence and goodness in the past seventy years of the reign of Her Majesty the Queen, and that we show gratitude to the Queen for seven decades of unstinting public service and a fine example of devoted duty. It is certainly fitting, as Catholics, that we pray for the Sovereign as St Paul instructed the early Christians to do with regard to their rulers. But as the Jubilee celebrations fall on Pentecost Sunday, by God’s wise arrangement of things, it is certainly fitting that we consider the profound Biblical meaning of Jubilee which permeates this feast of Pentecost, of the fiftieth day after Easter and Passover.
In the book of Leviticus, God instructs his people: “you shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants; it shall be a jubilee for you.” (Lev 25:10) As such, jubilees are associated with debt relief, with aid for the poor and hungry and the refugees, with justice for all. It is not my wish nor my role to politicise a sermon, but we must all, as citizens and as responsible participants in the common good in this land, ask ourselves if this Jubilee year lives up to the idea of Jubilee as declared by God. Are there not some among us who still go hungry, even some of this congregation who are left to wander the streets of NW5 begging for food? Have refugees from the Ukraine, shattered and shocked by war and violence, not had their hopes furthered shattered when they are turned away and sent to Rwanda? The time of Jubilee, and today’s feast of Pentecost bids us to look upon the face of our brothers and sisters in need; to hallow the people of the land, and to give them relief, or at the very least to speak up for them, to represent them before the authorities and powers of these lands; we are called to hold them accountable before us, the demos, before that great and terrible day when we shall all be accountable before God.
For St Paul reminds us that “The spirit you received is not the spirit of slaves bringing fear into your lives again; it is the spirit of sons, and it makes us cry out, ‘Abba, Father!’” Therefore, let us, with confidence cry out for the dignity of human lives; cry out for justice and right judgement by those in government; and cry out for the poorest and most vulnerable who are, after all, also children of God our Father. As we sang in the Sequence hymn today, we asked the Holy Spirit to “Bend the stubborn heart and will; Melt the frozen, warm the chill; Guide the steps that go astray.” Therefore, we pray today for a change of heart towards the needy, a change of attitude and will in those in power, and a change of direction as a society.
At the time of the apostles, Pentecost or Shavuot was also a harvest festival, a time to bring the first fruits to God, and to thank God for the abundance and plenty of the land. The Jewish people were thus called with every jubilee to hallow the land. Often we can take the land, this planet, and its natural resources for granted. To pillage the earth and to exploit it for the sake of our own convenience and comfort, or to enable corporate greed is not to hallow the land. Therefore, as Christians, keeping Jubilee reminds us that we have a duty to speak up against the destruction of the environment, and to strive by our individual choices and patterns of consumption to secure a more sustainable future. Again, I do not think a sermon should become politicised or reduced to a commentary on the social justice issues and trends of the day – indeed, I have often resisted this tendency so common among preachers today – but on Pentecost Sunday, when we ask the Holy Spirit to come and challenge and change us, it is worth pointing out our responsibilities to the common good as Pope Francis has been wont to do. There is much that is commendable and inspiring in his encyclical Laudato Si’ for example so we should give it a read.
We also sang in the psalm today that the Holy Spirit will “renew the face of the earth”. As such, when we work for the physical renewal of the planet, and sacrifice our desires for the sake of a responsible and just use of its resources, we are co-operating with the Holy Spirit who has been sent forth into the world and into our hearts for certainly, caring for the planet, living simply, can become yet another work of asceticism that we can offer up to God.
However, all these issues of social justice and environmental responsibility are subordinated to the final good of Mankind, which is salvation in Christ. Subsequent to the fall of the Temple in Jerusalem, then, Shavuot became a celebration of the giving of the Law to Moses, and thus people offered to God not the harvest of the land but the first fruits of their lives lived in obedience to the Law; a harvest of good works, as it were. Thus Jesus says in the Gospel: “‘If you love me you will keep my commandments” (Jn 14:15). The Lord is calling us Christians, who have been filled with the Holy Spirit, to keep his word, to obey his commandments, to observe the law. Christ’s law, of course, is the law of love that is written, not on tablets of stone, but in our hearts, in our own flesh.
Hence, the good works we do; the justice that we strive after in our society; the acts of mercy and compassion that we do for others especially the poor and hungry; the advocacy that we undertake for refugees and the unborn child and for single mothers; the recycling and care for the environment that we engage in – these are all works that we do out of love for God and for his people, his creation, his works. The Holy Spirit, therefore, comes to help us in these works transforming duty and justice into charity. For only love lightens the burdens of our labours; only love makes motivates us to strive for the arduous and the onerous; only love makes a hellish chore into a sacrificial act of charity. For when we do the good out of a love for God, then we will have invited the Holy Spirit into our lives. And he comes, as the Sequence hymn says, to be our best Consoler, to befriend us as “the soul’s delightful guest” who brings “refreshing peace”. As we sang: “Thou in toil art comfort sweet; Pleasant coolness in the heat; Solace in the midst of woe.”
In the book of Leviticus Pentecost points to the jubilee, and therefore it points to liberation and hallowing. As such, this feast of Pentecost is about the coming of the Holy Spirit whose greatest work is to set us free, through love, from the bondage of sin and vice and even death. Pentecost is about the Holy Spirit who comes, by his sevenfold gifts of grace to sanctify us, to hallow us, to make us friends of God by filling us with holy charity. The Spirit of God, therefore, descends today on our hearts, on this land, to free us from the debt of sin; from slavery to our limited human ideas, and our wild emotions and unbridled passions, so that we may have the freedom of the sons and daughters of God. As the Sequence hymn proclaims, so we pray: “Light immortal, light divine, Visit thou these hearts of thine, And our inmost being fill: Heal our wounds, our strength renew, On our dryness pour thy dew, Wash the stains of guilt away.” Amen, alleluia!

maybe a bit risque for the writing ask meme, so feel free to ignore, but: the first love scene (or part of it) between jimmy and kim during their trip out of town?
hell yes, i’ll do this scene!! for sure! thank you ❤️❤️❤️
fic commentary meme and my answers
this is just a reminder before we go on that jimmy’s still wearing his damn bugs bunny t-shirt
Inside their room, Jimmy stares out through the slats of the blinds at the glowing highway sign, listening to Kim have a stilted conversation with her roommate over the phone.
Tumblr media

He tips his head to the side. “Hmm. I could maybe get behind a dead space chimp.”   ah, the dead space chimp. they were originally gonna visit the world’s largest pistachio but then i discovered it wasn’t there in 1992, so we went with the dead space chimp. the pistachio is so tragic though, you should definitely google it. send me reacts if you do. it’s a bummer.
He exhales and gives a winning smile, but his next question comes out a little breathier and a little more strangled than he would like: “Wanna make out again, then?”   i always liked the idea of jimmy just out and asking this. famously not the greatest at communicating, these two, but i really wanted there to be more of a “hey, so do you want to do that again?” “hm, yeah, i do actually” vibe at the top of this scene rather than just them getting completely swept up in emotions
and it’s like a jolt rushing through him, like everything he’s been holding back for the past week comes smashing up through a frozen surface and he can breathe again.   kind of blending two different images i’ve used before. way back in chapter 2 when jimmy does his little coffee spill scam: “it feels like bursting up through the water’s surface and breathing again”. and then kim right before their first kiss: “an enormous grin shatters over her face, like an ice sheet cracking”.
he shifts his weight back to his knees and reaches for her hair again, this time gathering it up gently and tucking it up on the pillow as best he can, running the soft threads through his fingers.  jimmy’s boner for kim’s hair really just grows and grows huh
“Why are we doing this?” he gasps, and then he shakes his head. “I mean—why aren’t we doing this?”  oh man the like, foggy-brained gibberish of this. “why are we doing this--no wait why aren’t we doing this--ok wait i know we’re literally making out right now but why aren’t we doing it for real kim?”
“To start with?” she asks softly, and she gives him a small smile. “Because you woke up and looked terrified.” “I what?” Jimmy asks.  i was always curious how people took this. we’re in jimmy’s pov for that wake-up scene, and he doesn’t exactly think he’s terrified of a relationship with kim in that moment, but he does have a bunch of big messy thoughts that i hoped could seem like hesitation or fear in how they appeared on his face, and how kim interpreted them.
“No,” she says, eventually. Her eyes meet his. Words coming slowly, she says, “Jimmy, you’re not…” —and he thinks, what? what? pulse humming in his ears— —and, voice so careful, she says, “… part of the plan.”  Jimmy lets out his breath in a rush of air. “Yeah,” he says lightly. He stares into her eyes. Hers are gentle, and he sighs again.  oh man another thing i was curious about the response to. on the surface these words from kim are so horrible. they’re still not exactly nice but i really wanted to give them a specific kind of softness/honesty that makes them land okay. there’s maybe shades of howard’s “we want the case. we do not want... the case is all we want” that i really wanted to avoid.  they are, though, probably the sort of words that jimmy filters away in the little bank he stores things like “the kind of lawyer guilty people hire” and “roll around in the dirt with me” and the lyrics to a certain ABBA song.
He tightens his fingers. “Wanna tell me about the plan, then?”   but in the moment i wanted him to just be forgiving, and curious (and maybe already bracing to game the plan like he ends up doing, but hey)
“Make something of myself,” she says.  kim’s ambition is so interesting to me!! her “plan” here as she tells it to jimmy is so vague, but i always feel like at the core there’s two elements: self-preservation/escape, and then ambition. “what did you want?” “more.” the ambition part i think about a lot, and i want to do more with it, tbh. because i think in some ways it’s the more interesting part. there’s a bit of a leap from just escaping a difficult situation to relentlessly gunning to get ahead in a field that gives you the power to determine right from wrong.  kimberly wexler you fascinate me.
“We’re not in Albuquerque now,” he says.  “No,” Kim says, smile edging her expression. “No, I guess not.” “Seems like the plan’s already gone off the rails,” Jimmy says, and he shrugs.  “Hm,” Kim says, mouth twitching.  forgive me for the chandler-and-monica-in-london of this. i do think kim and jimmy would’ve kept going in this moment without the dumb excuse, but i liked the idea that they both enjoyed having the dumb excuse. and then it ends up being more significant once they do get back to abq and kim actually does walk the relationship back.
She opens it and rifles through, then lets out a snort of laughter. “I forgot about this haircut,” she says, and she turns his wallet to face him.  disgusted to discover i didn’t describe the velcro cronch of jimmy’s wallet here.  how long do licences last in the US anyway? i hope he had to show people that slippin’ jimmy mullet for a long time.  that important question aside, i really wanted to keep that easy humour and laughter they've had since the beginning going through this scene. and any time i can shift a fun/gently-ribbing joke into a slightly more emotional beat i’m happy, and i liked that shift here. “you guys didn’t know what hit you” “no, we did not.”
She leans back a little and runs a finger through the vee of his hips then holds it up to him. It’s covered in a fine layer of white dust.  i got so attached to this dumb idea even though it’s the shittiest thing, sorry you two, fanfic rules, sorry, you’re covered in gypsum i guess, good luck bet it feels great 👀it’s just really hard to, you know. shake off white sands after you’ve been there once, y’know. 👀#metaphors
“Hmm, that wasn’t the first time,” Kim says, moving their joined hands around so that she’s resting her weight down on them. “I seem to remember you coming back to the mailroom one day soaked with coffee…”    kim-wexler-is-horny-for-a-scam... but also, hey, a chance to talk more about this! kim remembers jimmy (who from the outside might’ve still seemed like he was one platinum platter away from joining howard on the third floor) helping a lowly assistant when he didn’t need to. and not only did he help clara in that scene, he did it in an outside-the-box way that put all the blame on himself and made clara look good in front of everyone upstairs.
there’s a scene break in that chapter from when jimmy starts explaining the plan, to when jimmy’s about to put it into action, and i always think that, after his explanation and after he and clara leave, kim stands there thinking that there’s no fucking way this mcgill brother is going to go upstairs and put on this whole performance just because one printer fucked up and vernon is a picky asshole.
and then he comes back down drenched in coffee.  kim: 🙂
“Covered in coffee, huh?” he says, a few moments later. “I can arrange that again.”   jimmy: kim wants a coffee-soaked striptease i’ll GIVE her a coffee-soaked striptease! kim: um
so he stops talking and listens—and it’s his name, over and over, hummed to his lips.   jimmy and names is so... aahh. when i wrote this i was thinking about that moment in chapter one when he stands in front of the elevators and tries out different ways of introducing himself. “yeah, just jimmy. like, you know... cher.” just jimmy. it kills me to think about how, certainly by bcs s5 times, kim is the only one he’s just-jimmy to. 💔
letting Kim swallow it until there’s no sound left between them at all, no sound or words or names, just—light.   echoes of them driving up into white sands, and it’s quiet, like after a snowfall, when jimmy wonders if the white itself that makes things noiseless.
thank you so much for requesting this scene!!! ♥️

Happy Birthday Brian Alexander “B. A.” Robertson, born September 12th 1956. Robertson was born and raised in Glasgow attending the former Allan Glen’s School, Glasgow,[and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama. He recorded his first album “Wringing Applause”, for Ardent Records in 1973. It enjoyed modest critical acclaim, and a nomination in Down Beat Magazine’s year end poll.
He made his first television appearance with Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel (1976), played piano on the B side of “Come Up And See Me Make Me Smile”.
The first, “Bang Bang”, achieved sales over 1 million, the last Flight 19, in 1982, a #1 in Iceland!
Hosted his own music series “BA In Music”. In 1986 he was commissioned to compose the music for The Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. He has written more than 30 themes, songs, and scores, for film, television and special events. These include “The Other Side of The World” by Chaka Khan for the motion picture “White Nights”, music for one of the UK’s longest running talk shows “Wogan”, and “We Have A Dream” for Scotland’s World Cup Football Squad of 1982.
Throughout the 80’s and 90’s he continued to write and work in the studio with another diverse group, including Sam Brown, Roger Daltrey, Lonnie Donegan, Dave Edmunds, Bernard Edwards, Peter Frampton, Alan Gorrie, John Jarvis, Maz + Kilgore, Joe Sample, Helena Springs, and Andy Taylor (Duran Duran).
He met Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford in 1985, and began a second long term writing collaboration. He introduced Paul Carrack to the embryo Mike & The Mechanics. As writer and musician, he featured on six of their studio albums. Wrote their first hit single “Silent Running”, Billboard’s  number 1 Rock Song of 1986, and the international success, “The Living Years”. This most celebrated of his lyrics written when his father died twelve weeks before the birth of his son.
At the 1990 Grammy Awards, “The Living Years” had four nominations, including Song of the Year. BA was pipped for the statuettes by good friend Arif Mardin and “The Wind Beneath My Wings”. In London, at The Ivor Novellos, ‘The Living Years’ topped 1991 Grammy winner “Another Day in Paradise” for Best Song. He was invited to set up offices at The Walt Disney Studio, by Michael Eisner, and Jeffrey Katzenburg. BA moved with his family to Los Angeles.
He remained a feature on the lot for over three years. Was Creator, and Producer of Grammy nominated, multi-platinum, music video, “Simply Mad About The Mouse”. Artists include Harry Connick Jnr., LL Cool J., Billy Joel, and Bobby McFerrin.
1991 saw “Silent Running” and “The Living Years”, awarded “MillionAir” status by BMI, for more than one million broadcast performances in the US. “Silent Running” has now reached almost three million plays, and 'The Living Years’ over four.
From 1993 through 1995, he put together, “With Your Hand on My Heart” for Patti LaBelle and Michael Crawford. Michael’s album had a double Grammy nomination and world wide sales of more than 2 million. Wrote music for “Baywatch”, the world’s most popular television show and collaborated on a musical with Burt Bacharach, for me it shows his class.
He continued to work with Mike & The Mechanics, had six songs in the “Beggar On A Beach of Gold” project including the title song, and another six on their, multi-platinum CD, “Hits”. He worked as writer, and musical associate to Phil Ramone on the stage production “EFX¬î, at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. The opening song "Somewhere in Time , a collaboration with John Barry.
For the past 20 years or so Robertson has lived in Ireland, continually working on various projects he is still in high demand, Over the years, B A has accumulated more than 70 silver, gold, and platinum record awards. He lives with his wife, designer Karen Manners, they have two adult children.
I’ve chosen this track to remind people that the regardless of what else in the news the war in Ukraine continues. This is a previously unreleased live version of Silent Running, recorded at Gilded Balloon, Brian penned the words, Paul Carrick and him did the music. This version was released in July with all proceeds going to Mail Force Ukraine Appeal charity.
The story behind the release is an Edinburgh granny, Lori Hailes heard the track on a long car journey, her partener knew Robertson and the words of the song:struck a chord with Lorri, particularly the lyrics about keeping guns and ammunition close at hand, and the haunting chorus “Can you hear me?” Lori insisted i that he call the singer/songwriter immediately to ask if he would allow the song to be released as a fundraiser for Ukrainian people, for the children and refugees.  BA agreed, a partnership with Mail Force – Ukraine Appeal charity ensued.
I think you’ll agree the words suit the situation very well.
 Silent Running
Take the children and yourself And hide out in the cellar By now the fighting will be close at hand Don't believe the church and state And everything they tell you Believe in me, I'm with the high command Can you hear me, can you hear me running? Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you? Can you hear me, can you hear me running? Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you? There's a gun and ammunition Just inside the doorway Use it only in emergency Better you should pray to God The Father and the Spirit Will guide you and protect from up here Can you hear me, can you hear me running? Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you? Can you hear me, can you hear me running? Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you? Swear allegiance to the flag Whatever flag they offer Never hint at what you really feel Teach the children quietly For some day sons and daughters Will rise up and fight while we stood still Can you hear me, can you hear me running? Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you? Can you hear me, can you hear me running? Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you? Can you hear me, can you hear me running? Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you? Can you hear me running (can you hear me calling you?) (Can you hear me) hear me calling you? (Can you hear me running) hear me running babe? (Can you hear me running) hear me running? Calling you, calling you

Just a little rambling and then a few bands I really like and you should totally check out, so expand it if you wanna see them :)
I know this isn’t a normal update, I just have to talk about this with someone.
Music is a vital part of everyday life for me. Everything I do has a backtrack. If I’m not watching a show in my room, I have to have music playing. When I write I have headphones in, blasting music, like right now. To go to sleep and sleep easily I have to play music, ever since I was young I’ve done it. I can’t remember not falling asleep without music playing. Music even helps inspire what I write.
Point is, I love music.
However, I am extremely uncomfortable with sharing my music. My freshman year I was made fun of the type of music I listen to, which has evolved a bit in the 3-4 years since that time, however it hasn’t ventured too far.
When I was eleven my parents gave me a windows phone with no sim card, but it had a music app. They downloaded a bunch of child friendly songs and it was the first time I could control what I listened to. Before I had an old MP3 which was filled with Disney songs, Anamaniacs tunes, and ABBA’s Golden Hits. I can sing all them by heart, dances are a fun time for me. Now, I could look up songs.
My best friend was into the alternative scene as her sister is six years older than us and as such had a more ‘adult’ music sense. She introduced me to the classic bands, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Panic! At the Disco, etc. I loved their music, we’d listen to it on the bus to middle school. However, as time went on, I began expanding my music taste. I got into My Three Days Grace, Shinedown, and other similar bands. Then, Freshman year came.
I remember the moment clear as day. I was working on my photography notebook the week before finals like the dumbass I was am, with Pandora open and listening to one of the many radios. Then, a song came on. It was by a band I hadn’t heard of before. It was called Bad Company, and the band was called Five Finger Death Punch. Now, little fourteen year old me was a little shocked by the name but the song wasn’t unlike anything I’d heard before. I decided I liked that song and favorited it.
A little while later more of their songs began popping up, but they were a little different. Heavier. Angrier. And I loved it. I don’t know what it was about the gruff vocals or pounding drum beats or glorious guitar solos, but I was hooked. I then moved onto Spotify and listened to their albums, headbanging all the way. This was my first experience with Metal, and you better believe I was a fan.
As time went on I explored more bands. Alesana, Asking Alexandria, Crown the Empire, A Day to Remember, Halestorm, Ghost, etc. I tried showing people my favorite bands but they made fun of my music taste, mimicking their screams whenever I looked up. It was disheartening, and I never wanted to share it again. Not until I knew they were okay with it. I had people tell me they were scared of that music, and asked me to never play it in front of them. You can see how that would make me never want to tell anyone about it, right? Well, I kept it to myself, electing to share music with only a few people, one being my friend. She always jokes about how she showed me Fall Out Boy and all them and then lost me along the way.
During Junior year I discovered even more bands, including one of my favorites, Ice Nine Kills. Amazing band, you should definitely check them out, but the advertising comes later. My music taste also diversified a little and I began listening to softer bands, like grandson and The Ghost Club.
Now, to the main show. My recent music taste.
It all began with one Instagram video. A meme video that really isn’t all that funny. I was actually just looking through what I saved and it happened to be in a  really small folder, so I clicked it. Here is the exact video

So I was interested the song and band and decided to look them up. What I found was simply...amazing.
Okay, here comes the advertising of my favorite bands :)
I. Gloryhammer
Tumblr media
The first Power Metal band I discovered and still my favorite. Here’s how Gloryhammer describes themselves:
“And lo, Planet Earth had been destroyed by the Hootsman, with an explosion so powerful it ripped a hole in the very fabric of spacetime. And yet, Zargothrax was still not defeated, for he managed to use his last shreds of power to escape through the dimensional rift. Vowing to defeat the evil sorcerer, Angus McFife XIII followed him into the portal, with no idea where it might lead…“
That may seem confusing, and it is, but trust me, when I tell you a bit more, it will all make sense.
So Gloryhammer is one of the best bands I have ever heard before. Their concept is absolute gold and is the only of its kind I’ve seen before. Basically, every single one of their songs tells a story of the Land of Fife. The Lead singer (Thomas Winkler) is Prince Angus McFife (the 1st and 13th), keyboard/backing vocals (Christopher Bowes) is the Evil Sorcerer Zargothrax, guitar/backing vocals (Paul Templing) is Sir Proletiues, leader of the warriors of Crail, drums (Ben Turk) is the Ancient Hermit Ralathor, and last but never least is bass/backing vocals (James Cartwright), the Mighty Hootsman!
Each album follows a part in the epic saga, with three in total. The first album tells the story of the original Angus McFife the I whereas the next two follow his ancestor, Anguc McFife XIII. I don't want to give too much spoilers but let's just say that all three are filled with so much creativity and twists that it’s like listening to a movie! I cant even express how if you are looking for something to listen to that has dragons, goblin kings, evil sorcerers, hammers, and space, then this is the band for you!
I am going to put one song by them down because you can only have five and I’m big mad about it.
Gloryhammer - Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex
youtube
So yeah, that’s band numero uno!
II. Sabaton
Tumblr media
What is there to say about Sabaton that hasn’t already been said...
Unlike Gloryhammer, Sabaton is older, formed in the nineties. Here’s what they say about themselves on their website:
“In the nearly two decades since their launch, Swedish metallers Sabaton have carved out a reputation as one of the hardest working bands in the business – gaining a legion of loyal fans across the globe, delivering eight highly-rated studio albums (including two certified platinum-sellers), and scoring multiple industry award wins and nominations… not to mention launching their own annual festival and cruise.
Combining soaring power riffs with vocalist Joakim Brodén’s instantly-recognisable gruff baritone, the band refuses to be simply slotted into a genre. Fans need only know them as Sabaton: the heavy metal band that sings of real life wars and the people who played a part in them – of gruelling campaigns and dazzling acts of bravery, of magnificent victories and touching personal struggles – true stories more fantastic than any fiction,”
Sabaton is, as they stated, a band dedicated to sharing stories of true battles throughout history. On their website they even have a whole calendar dedicated to historic events, so you can see what happened in history on whatever day you’d like!
As a huge history geek, this band is amazing. I would watch the World War documentary series before I went to bed in middle school because I thought all of that stuff was so interesting. If I didn’t love writing and English as much as I do then I’d go into a career where history was involved. They were actually a part of my Spotify Wrapped this year where I explored 27 of their songs, listened to six of their albums, and spent over 39 hours listening to just them this year.
Unlike what I did before, I am just going to showcase three of my favorite songs by them because they have way too many albums and I’m sad to say I didn’t listen to all of them.
The Lost Battalion - The Last Stand
youtube
Now, onto the third band and a good one too!
III. Powerwolf
Tumblr media
I’m not a religious person, I grew up being taught all that stuff but I consider myself to be more agnostic rather than Christian or any of that stuff. But, if there’s one religious thing I don’t mind bumping its the Priests of Metal, Powerwolf! Here's what they have to say about themselves:
“After spilling gallons of blood and fighting tirelessly, after only two albums with Napalm Powerwolf shot straight to the pole position of the official German album charts (and another album made it into the top three!). After selling out venue after venue and thrilling bigger and bigger hordes of fans, the time is right for a new chapter: The Sacrament Of Sin which offers eleven metal psalms forged for all eternity!
Powerwolf entered Fascination Street Studios in Örebrö, Sweden starting in January 2018 to work on their seventh manifesto together with renowned producer Jens Bogren (Opeth, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth). The result is brimming with the Germans` trademark sound, and yet the band have recorded their boldest and most adventurous album to date! ‘Where the wild wolves have gone‘ even marks the first ballad in Powerwolf history – whereas ‘Nightside of Siberia‘ does the exact opposite and turns out to be one of the heaviest tunes the fivepiece have ever written. ‘Incense And Iron‘ simply MUST be part of every future setlist with its folky nature and anthemic catchiness; and epic single ‘Fire & Forgive‘ brilliantly melts infectious melodies into timeless, heavy shredding. The Sacrament Of Sin overwhelms both with sophisticated songwriting and sheer aggression – and proves once more why Powerwolf are the one and only true high priests of heavy metal!,”
The band is made up of vocalist  Karsten Brill as "Attila Dorn", lead guitarist Benjamin Buss as "Matthew Greywolf", bassist/rhythm guitarist David Vogt as "Charles Greywolf", keyboardist Christian Jost as "Falk Maria Schlegel" and drummer Roel van Helden.
They’re really awesome and here’s my favorite song by them.
Army of the Night - Blessed and Possessed
youtube
Now onto the fourth band ;)...
IV. Brothers of Metal
Tumblr media
Oh boy, if you thought the bands might’ve mellowed out a little then you are sorely unprepared for this glorious group...
When I was younger I was one of those Percy Jackson kids, but my love for mythology started long before I read one of those books. As I grew older I expanded my knowledge, moving away from Greek and Roman and into Norse and other mythologies. You can imagine my joy when I found Brothers of Metal. They have no Wikipedia or website so here’s what Spotify says about them:
“BROTHERS OF METAL consist of eight powerful Viking warriors that originates from the glorious kingdom of Falun, far up in the north. Falun is a mighty town that lies within the dark iron woods where only true metal warriors reside. BROTHERS OF METAL are known to most as the strongest metal band in the nine realms.
Before time, our eight warriors would travel through the realms and protect the good folk against evil. It was one of those nights that the legacy of metal was born. They came home from some pretty intense giant slaying and felt the common urge for mead and entertainment. The mead was generously flowing from the teats of Heidrun, but the music was really bad. The warriors took what instruments they could find and started playing, thus they wrote their first song Son of Odin, creating a tribute hymn to the strongest god they knew.
The mortals of the kingdom was so impressed with the music that they couldn't get enough, our warriors looked at each other and so a band was formed. Together they swor an oath to keep the flames of true metal burning and to continue to play until the earthlings had worthy entertainment of their own, it's yet to come,”
They haven’t released a ton of music when compared to the bands I listed before them, but they are absolutely amazing! All their music videos make me chuckle and when I watch Q&A’s they’ve posted they feel so down to earth that a person whos probably a decade younger than them if not less/more can relate to them. All their music has to do with Norse Mythology, but here’s my favorite music video yet:
The Mead Song - Prophecy of Ragnarök
youtube
And yeah, that’s it!
I hope you all weren't too bored and I hope you at least somewhat enjoyed this. It feels good to talk about my favorite bands. I’d love to put more videos in but Tumblr won’t let you so I guess we’re stuck with only one per band. I planned on doing three each but I guess that’s dead in the water.
Oh well.
If you like any of this music/band honestly just reach out and talk to me, I love chatting about music. I don’t know a ton about the logistics or anything like that but we can share bands or songs or whatever. I sound really lonely which is true but please don’t feel shy.
See you all later!

All That Glitters {Roger Taylor} [2]
A/N: 2160 words. Every day I deadass get closer to just writing this movie. I’ve put too much time and thought into this probably. As Always @ginghampearlsnsweettea and @prettyboyroger are my favourite Giselle chearleaders. I actually rather like this, though I’m worried it’s less coherent than the first All That Glitters trailer.
[And All The Queen’s Men ‘verse masterpost]
All That Glitters (2018) | “Oracle” Teaser Trailer [HD] | 20th Century FOX
[id: We open on a shot of the crowd at Live Aid from the perspective of the stage; the crowd is cheering, but it’s distant, almost like it’s underwater. The camera pans back slowly, so slowly, and we see Giselle, facing the crowd; as soon as she is in view, the squeal of a microphone feeding back fades in, growing louder until it overpowers the sound of the audience.
The feedback cuts out sharply and we see and hear the following in rapid succession; a close up of a large aux cord, from a keyboard, being plugged into an amp, a power switch being flipped and lighting up, a bare but new-ish looking parcan lighting up.
The room is hazy, a small, speak-easy style bar; the patrons mill about, smoking and drinking and we hear a general, indistinguishable chatter. It’s mostly dark, a few dim, gold lights overhead, with one exception;
We see Giselle standing on a cramped stage, wearing an ill-fitting, wine-coloured, rayon slip dress, lit only by the unflattering light of the cheap parcan. Behind her, drowning in shadows, a four-piece jazz ensemble sits, all wearing white button down shirts and black jackets, though their accessories are a mishmash of colours; some where bowties, some don’t even have their top button done up. One is wearing sunglasses and is looking like he’s almost asleep at his keyboard.
Giselle stands awkwardly, fidgeting, she looks young, and not particularly at home on the stage. She leans into her microphone and tries to speak, but there’s the squeal of feedback and she flinches away. The band behind her just looks tired. She leans back in to the microphone.
[GISELLE] (hesitant) Hello, I’m-
[MAN] (from the crowd, not visible) Sing something already!
Giselle looks taken aback, a little offended, and she looks over her shoulder at the band who nods. There’s a moment, a beat, when we cut to a close shot of the keyboard player’s hands hovering above the keys, before coming down, playing the opening notes of This Is Where You Get Off.
[Editor’s note; This Is Where You Get Off comes from Giselle’s sixth studio album, Strictly Professional (1978). It was the second single released off the album. Think, the upbeat positivity of ABBA’s Waterloo, meets the heart and catchiness of Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody. It’s joyful and tongue in cheek, as the name would imply, a song about young love and intimacy, though it may be fleeting.]
[Title cards for 20th Century Fox and Marv Films come up.]
We pull back from a close shot of hands playing the keyboard, however this time they’re Giselle’s, well manicured with gold polish, and she’s is sitting behind the keyboard though the bar is empty. She’s lit in stark relief to the rest of the room with a warm, gold light. The rest of the room is a cool, hazy grey. She’s wearing a pair of high waisted, pale blue jeans, and a yellow and green floral button-down.
[JOHN DEACON] Giselle?
Giselle looks up, a little confused. Her hands still on the keys, but the music keeps playing. It’s a wide shot, the two in profile facing each other; John Deacon is backlit on the right where he’s standing at the door, sunshine shining in behind him, wearing brown corduroy pants and a maroon jacket that’s a little too big for him. His hair is long. The space between them shows the bar, in shades of grey, almost like the colour’s been saturated from it, though it gives a nice contrast to the colours of the two figures on either side of the shot.
John smiles.
[JOHN DEACON] Thought I might find you here.
Extreme close shot of Giselle’s eyes as she squeezes them shut tightly. When she opens them, we cut to a wide shot taken from behind her, facing a small room packed with people. She’s standing now, holding the microphone on it’s stand, wearing a blue velvet, off the shoulder dress.
The camera pans back and with each beat of the music, we cut between shots, all from the same angle, all with Giselle in the same place, but it’s always in front of a crowd, and the crowd is always getting bigger; at first it’s bars, then theatres, then stadiums, with thousands of cheering fans. We never see Giselle’s face, but the crowd is always desaturated compared to her, each of her ensembles, her very presence vibrant under the stage lights.
[JOHN DEACON, VOICE OVER] So I suppose I’m gonna see your name in lights in a few months?
Giselle snaps back to the present, and we get a close shot of her looking at John a little wide-eyed.
[RAY FOSTER, VOICE OVER] Giselle? That’s the name on the marquee?
We smash cut to an over-the-shoulder shot of her sitting in Ray Foster’s office; he’s wearing a beige suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up over a bright blue button down. From what we can see of Giselle’s shoulder, her shirt is a red and orange striped turtleneck and her hair is down.
We whip pan around and stop on a shot of Giselle, sitting at her desk at the very righthand side of the shot, lit in pale yellow by her desk light, while the rest of the shot is filled with the midnight blue of the night sky through floor-to-ceiling windows; on the lefthand side of the shot is a television, showing reports and excepts all about Giselle, giving off desaturated blue and white light. Giselle is writing furiously at her desk, though we can’t see what.
[REPORTER, VOICE OVER] Giselle, the name on everyone’s lips!
[RADIO HOST, VOICE OVER] And now, with her newly certified platinum single, Giselle -
[REPORTER 2, VOICE OVER] Why Giselle? Who’s this woman who’s caught the world by storm?
The voices start to overlap, become indistinguishable as the song rises to a crescendo, though their words are clearly turning negative. Giselle’s name is distinguishable every few moments.
[GISELLE, VOICE OVER] I want to work with Queen.
Giselle stands with her hands crossed over her chest, wearing a mint green, skater style, floral dress, her hair tied back neatly. The music is still upbeat and joyful. Jim Beach stands across from her in a freshly pressed, grey suit. He looked amused.
[JIM BEACH] You want to work with Queen?
We shift through a set of quick shots all intercut together to the beat of the music that gets progressively faster, never stopping on one for enough time to get a good look; Giselle running into a drumkit and the cymbals going crashing to the ground, Giselle and all four members of Queen cheersing their drinks though they all seem to already be drunk, Giselle sitting on Roger’s shoulders and cheering and singing at the top of her lungs in a hotel room while Brian throws things at them because he’s trying to get to sleep, Roger kisses Giselle on stage in front of a stadium audience and though she’s shocked for a moment she kisses him back, Freddie walks in to what is clearly Roger and Giselle’s wedding with an elephant in tow. The final two shots are of Roger and Giselle wearing identical shocked looks, clearly at Freddie’s extravagant party, and then we cut right to the door being closed in Roger’s face.
The music stops; we come back to Jim and Giselle in the present.
[GISELLE] What’s the worst that could happen?
Her grin is all teeth.
We kick into the next scene and into the chorus section of an instrumental version of Set It Up.
[Editor’s note: Set It Up was the fifth track on Giselle’s second album, Cold In June (1971). It’s got the bass and weight of Queen’s Another Bites The Dust, courtesy of Giselle’s pre-established friendship with John Deacon, and it’s the earliest known collaboration between them. Lyrically, the original song is a love letter to dedication and drive, and is the story of a young woman forging her way in such a ruthless industry.]
Cut to; Jim and Giselle standing in the doorframe of a wood panel studio; Jim looks like he hasn’t changed, though Giselle now wears a yellow sundress.
[JIM BEACH] Boys, -
The rest of the room is filled with band equipment, and the four members of Queen, all in light coloured but colourful clothes, a solid contrast against the mid-tone brown panels along the walls, the chrome of the drumset, and the red of Brian’s guitar, the darkness of the piano and the various amps in soft focus behind them.
We quickly pulse through visions of other big name musical celebrities to the beat of the music, all looking at something just off camera, as if looking at Giselle in the room, though their background all betray different settings. We see Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, and David Bowie, before settling back on Queen in the present.
The music cuts out.
[JIM BEACH] - play nice.
[ROGER TAYLOR] You’re not our father, you know!
The camera turns to show that Jim has already stepped out of the room, closing the door behind him. There’s a few moments of awkward silence; Giselle looks at the door for a few minutes before smiling awkwardly at the boys in front of her.
[GISELLE] I should introduce myself -
Before she can, the music comes back in after a beat and we cut to a montage of concert footage, of Giselle in various dresses which all look incredibly expensive, as well as her appearance on Top of the Pops in 1972, the camera craning around her as she sings in her black, velvet off-the-shoulder numbers with her black and red gloves.
This is also intercut with key moments from her life; arguing animatedly with her sister, Giovanna, in what appears to be a hospital, screaming at the top of her lungs in what appeared to be a recording studio, rage written all over her face, though we can’t hear the scream for the music, she’s laying in a hospital bed, looking exhausted but elated, holding her two daughters and almost weeping with joy. The final shot in the montage is Giselle in soft focus as she holds out a copy of Rolling Stone magazine, which she is on the front cover of, posing surrounded by Queen. The headline reads ‘And All The Queen’s Men’. She sets the magazine on fire and we fade to black, and the music dies down, fading into the slow, melancholy piano chords of Ache.
[GISELLE, VOICE OVER] (she sounds tired, a little forlorn) Everything I touch turns to gold.
We fade in to a dressing room; Giselle is sitting in front of a mirror lined by lightbulbs, sneering as she addresses someone who we can’t see, not even in the reflection of the mirror. She’s adjusting the neckline of a gold, sequinned, v-neck dress, wearing thick, winged eyeliner and gold lipstick to match. She looks over her shoulder, her expression cold.
GISELLE (rueful, a bit bitter) And God, I was all over you.
The music picks up, quick to morph into Trot, Canter, Pirouette (The Show Pony Song), and she stands quickly.
We smash cut to her walking out onto stage at Live Aid, though she’s now wearing a dress with a white velvet bodice and an ombre yellow-orange-charcoal skirt. We can hear both the song, and the crowd chanting her name.
[JOHN DEACON, VOICE OVER] An engineering student and a law student walk into a bar.
Cut to; both Giselle and John are sitting at the bar from earlier, both looking young, Giselle in her yellow and green floral shirt, and John in his maroon jacket. They’re positioned in the left half of the screen, both in profile; Giselle is in the foreground, slumped against the bar, her head resting on her arms. John is looking up wistfully. We can no longer hear the crowd, but the music is still softly playing. John pauses. Giselle turns to him, resting her cheek on her arms and looking at him expectantly. The camera angle changes so they’re side by side and fill most of the screen.
[GISELLE] And?
John, who’s seemed to have zoned out, looks at her with a slight frown, as if just remembering she’s there.
[JOHN DEACON] Oh, I just got lost thinking about the future.
Giselle gives a quiet, amused smile.
[GISELLE] About my name up in lights?
[JOHN DEACON] (nodding and grinning) About your name up in lights.
We cut to; the music picks up and the title card, “ALL THAT GLITTERS”, lights up in a block font, with lights in the letters, reminiscent of a Broadway sign. We hear Giselle belt the final, high energy, upbeat lyrics of the song, accompanied by a full brass section for the end of the song; “But I cant! Call! Cut!”
Snap to black. End id.]
