I came across this recently - an interview with the wonderful Aadila Dosani (Amanda Bobbsey) on the Tumblr @entertainment blog from 2021. In it she states that “every member of the Drew Crew can sing,” that “they have the voice of angels,” and they can “belt out show tunes like Idina Menzel’s spirit animals!” She then calls for a “Musical Episode, anyone?!”
Tumblr media
Alas, I don’t believe we’ll get a musical episode in the final season (although they sort of look like they’re about to break into song in the photo above).
I humbly submit the next best thing, my musical theater AU fic, No One Mourns the Wicked. If you haven’t read it, the Drew Crew put on a musical - “Wicked”, which originally starred Idina Menzel (who won a Tony for it). It’s also got a supernatural mystery that generally follows Season 1 of Nancy Drew, but with many twists and turns that entwine it with the musical plot. And of course Nace - lots of Nace.
You can read it with the knowledge that the crew can really sing. So when Ace is singing the oh so romantic lyrics to “As Long As You’re Mine” to Nancy, you can imagine him legit singing (swoon). I hope you give it a try if you haven’t already!

“As a kid growing up in Calgary, Akilla would occasionally follow the crime-fighting adventures of the Bobbsey Twins through their books. They were published by the Stratemeyer Syndicate, the same company that gave us the Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew and Tom Swift.“

Entertainment Spotlight: Aadila Dosani
Canadian actress Aadila Dosani stars in The CW’s Nancy Drew as Amanda Bobbsey, one half of the Bobbsey Twins. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Aadila was the only female member of the University of Toronto’s champion rugby team. Aadila is perhaps best known for her role in the mini-series, Unspeakable. In 2014 she received an AMPIA (Alberta Media Production Industries Association) Nomination for ‘Best Performance by an Actress’ for her role in Double Booked. Aadila sat down with us to discuss playing Amanda Bobbsey and the making of Nancy Drew.
Do you have any headcanons for Amanda Bobbsey?
If I had to choose one word to describe Amanda, it would be “curious.” Amanda has such a zest for life and hopes that she and Gil can have a better life. When I started prepping all things Amanda, the one thing that kept coming up was that she wanted to experience life and see the world. She didn’t grow up in a traditional manner; she and Gil always had to fend for themselves, so she would always dream that there had to be something better out there for them. She is a consummate dreamer. She wanted to travel. SO—what no one knows is that I actually bought a globe and pinned places on it around the world where Amanda wants to travel, which is so funny because the show may or may not allude to this Dora the Explorer side to her!
What’s a mystery in your life that you’d like Nancy Drew’s help to solve?
I would LOVE Nancy Drew’s help to solve “The Mystery of the Missing Socks.” Does the dryer really eat them up? Is there a sock mouse in the house? I cannot, for the life of me, figure it out!
What’s a fact about the making of Nancy Drew that fans would be surprised to find out?
Not so much a fun fact about the making-of, but did you know that every member of the Drew Crew can sing? They have voices of angels! It is insane! Not only are they so incredibly skilled at bringing their characters to life in the fullest of ways, but they can also belt out show tunes like Idina Menzel’s spirit animals! Musical Episode, anyone?!
Do you have a favorite Bobbsey Twin moment or scene (so far)?
ALL OF THEM. I have to say I love Praneet Akilla (who plays Gil Bobbsey). He is now my forever brother. We instantly clicked when we met (which was a year before we both found out we were playing The Bobbsey Twins). Fun fact, we are both from the same hometown of Calgary, AB. So we already had that innate connection. I truly love exploring our relationship because even though we are twins, we are two completely different humans. It is such a treat to explore a twinning relationship as an actor—so rare and so full of layers. If I am honest, I loved Episode 9, “The Bargain of the Blood Shroud,” because we were really allowed to explore our relationship and dynamic. Without saying too much, you really get a feel for how much Gil and Amanda rely on each other.
If you could host your own game/reality show, what kind of show would it be?
WATCH WHAT HAPPENS LIVE WITH AADILA DOSANI… Bravo Edition 2.0—Andy who?!
Thanks for taking the time, Aadila! Catch Nancy Drew on Thursdays on the CW.

Sooooo, was I disappointed at 2x13 being delayed an additional week? Yes. However, the little silver linings I found were 1. I found this out the day before I had expected the episode to air so it wasn’t like “oh great two weeks of torture” and more like “okay another week, I can deal with that I guess” and 2. I got to watch the promo again to get a better picture of the things we have to look forward to. One thing I noticed and took into more obsessive analysis of due to my natural stance as a Nace shipper being alive as ever (aka seeing how Nancy’s jealousy will manifest and further THAT plot) There’s like a brief second in the 2x13 promo where Nancy catches on fire, and presuming that Ace, amongst the other Drew Crew, is there from what I could tell then we could see how he responds to her being in danger, especially right before his eyes. Testing the waters if you will. Plus with regards to Amanda (which btw all respect to her she’s actually really nice, love the actress Aadila Dosani too), I wonder how they’ll really incorporate her perspective because I mean she’s gonna notice SOMETHING. Aside from that, the episode looks like it’s gonna be interesting all round.
Oh also to add, looks like we’ll have more instances of Nancy and Ace not knowing personal space (maybe with some added interesting interactions in terms of conversation), or at least being in many a scene together from the shots I could get by having to quick pause the promo (I’ll add these below if possible). Anyways apologies, I do genuinely watch the show for more than just my ships, but there’s no denying that when I see them I will fawn over them to an addictive level, which I should probably get under control but likely won’t.
If there’s anything anyone else wants to add, please do. Other than that stay safe everybody, at the very least till the next episode of Nancy Drew.

“Nancy Drew” on The CW has cast the Bobbsey Twins, which is also another children’s book series that’s owned by the same publisher as hers, “The Hardy Boys”, “Tom Swift”, and more. Aadila Dosani will play Amanda Bobbsey and Praneet Akilla will be her twin brother Gil. So we are getting more book characters like they said at NYCC.
