Merffet's Polar Cube reassembly

Meet my new blorbo, The Cube

A fidget/puzzle that was on my Christmas list since I couldn't stop playing with the ones at the shops, I took it around with me for like a week.

It's like a rubix cube, but you've got to make the colours alternate.

Sadly, it has been giving me some trouble.

It kept jamming up, despite my attempts to lubricate it, or adjust it using the hidden screws. So I took the plunge and took it apart.

Loosen the top screw enough, and soon the cube was no more.

I couldn't find any guides to this cube online, so I'm making this all up as I go. I carefully noted which parts where where as I pulled it to bits.

These are the parts I found inside:

Corner

Center

Edge

Core attachment link

Inner track bracket

Outer track bracket

Center piece frame

Seeing the cube completely in pieces, after many earlier attempts to fix it, almost makes you want to throw everything out, buy a new cube, and pretend nothing happened.

But I persisted.

I needed to find a place to start. Eventually I managed to wiggle two inner and one outer bracket between two parts of the core.

You can also see the little mark which the core attachment point must line up with.

To get the rest in, I had to turn the core plate just slightly. It helps to accept that these parts are intended to slide past each other, and a little unevenness won't cause everything to instantly come undone.

The little gaps in the side seem to be there so you can squeeze the two brackets tight enough that they slip into the gap where eventually, they will sit tight.

Now I have something firmly attached to the core, and that is enough to really get going.

Doing the first layer of ball segments was just a matter of placing them in the right order and orientation:

I also added the brackets.

(I did do the layer below as well, but that fell off later, so we shall ignore that for now)

Now the top layer, just got to add the inner brackets and center link,

Then i have to wiggle on the center pieces. The screw needs to be loose enough that can sort of hook them under the plate.

I've left a gap, because the last edge segment and corners need to be jammed in there somehow...

And that's one side done!

Now for the other, which should be much the same

Top layer, this time you can see the brackets, ready for me to slip the central link in,

I use a poking tool (awl) to reposition these, when the center pieces go in it helps to be able to slide them to the side so there's more gap to slide the pieces in.

This time I did the last center pieces last, and put the edge in first.

Just got to wiggle in the last pieces, and,

I am done. I also have the puzzle solved, because I needed to make sure it would still be solvable. It's still a little stiff in parts, but now everything is moving again.

I still haven't solved it the normal way.

Accidental Siblings AU Headcanon #8

[Ramblings related to my fic, Accidental Siblings.]

I think as time goes on, and as baby Bokushi has more time to understand and explore his own interests, he'll slowly start building up his own collection of "toys" in his room that he plays with. So, here are some that I think he'd own.

Board games. Canonically Seijuro is a tabletop game nerd as seen from the Drama CD/Replace Plus chapters of the Teiko school festival, so I would think Bokushi is the same. He loves to use his head, and playing board games that require strategy would be his favorite. He takes great pleasure in roping other people into playing board games with him just to see if he can beat them. He spends very long periods of time reading the rules before starting games as well and will not hesitate to inform others when they're violating the rules.

Puzzles. It would be a perfect solo activity he could do in his room. And he doesn't go for the kiddie puzzles you can put together in 10 minutes. He likes getting those big puzzles that have upwards of 500-1000 pieces where the full picture displays a famous painting or something that he can spend time putting together across multiple days. Sometimes he could be in his room for hours sitting on the floor and putting pieces together if no one stops him. Seijuro may join him on occasion, and it becomes one of the ways they bond with each other.

Crossword puzzle books. Not necessarily a toy, but definitely something to help him pass the time. Again, he likes using his head, so crosswords would be right up his alley. I'd bet he likes solving crosswords in multiple different languages, too. One book for Japanese, one book for English, and if he has any other languages he knows (which I have a headcanon that he does), he'd have crossword puzzle books in those languages as well.

Rubik's cube. I don't think I need to explain why he'd own something like this, but I can see him solving one of these. Maybe he owns a few that are varying in grid size. So like a standard 3x3x3 and then he might have 4x4x4, 5x5x5, and so on. He likes to time himself to see how quickly he can solve it, too. If he beats his own records, Seijuro is the first person to be informed.

Playing cards. Again, Seijuro is canonically a tabletop game nerd, so playing cards is included in that. Bokushi would have regular playing cards of course, but I think he'd slowly start to add specialized cards for specific games and maybe even get specialized card sets for foreign games and learn the rules to those.

Legos. This one might be an indulgence for him because he had been fascinated by all the different things you could build with them but never had the time to indulge in a hobby like that when he was still sharing a body with Seijuro. So maybe Seijuro is the one who gets him his first set of Legos because he's seen Bokushi eyeing them in town when they passed by a store once. Bokushi's first set is one of those Lego flower bouquets and he liked building it so much that he periodically gets new elaborate sets to build. This is another one of those things that Seijuro does with him if he's around.

Anyway, these were just some of the ideas I had. If I think of any more toys and the like, I'll add them to this list. Or you can add your own!

Nareszcie spałam

Miałam sen ze przed sylwestrem dostałam ataku padaczkowego przez który trafiłam do szpitala bo był długi.

Oby to nie był prorok 😑

Jak wstałam to od razu poszłam z mamą do sklepu po zakupy ostateczne

Dowiedziałam się że mój wujek nie przyjdzie bo on ma imprezę w firmie

Trochę smutno mi się zrobiło bo jednak zawsze był choć na chwile

Później były przygotowania do wigili i pakowanie prezentów

No i jak położyłam prezenty pod choinką to Kiara była ciekawa bardzo 😅

No i ludzie. Kupiłam prezenty dla mamy i mama była tak ciekawa tego prezentu że nie mogła wytrzymać i musiała otworzyć

Zresztą obie otworzyłyśmy 😅

I had already written out a long post that probably breaks Tumblr’s TOS, so I’ll shorten it up a bit.

If you aren’t already aware, Brianna Ghey, a 16 year old trans girl, was brutally stabbed by two 15 year old kids near Manchester England this week.

These children, one girl one boy, are monsters for what they did, and as a 16 year old trans girl myself, I say with little exaggeration that I would have both of them locked away in a 4x4x4 foot box for the rest of their pitiful lives (not what I initially wrote). However that would not solve the problem here. The problem here is that grown, vile excuses for humans, are telling these kids it’s okay to brutally murder their peers if they are in a minority they don’t like.

In place of a long rant about how sickening these people are, I’d like to jump to my call-to-action. If you are witness to a journalist, activist, politician, or other powerful person telling their audience the lies that got Brianna Ghey stabbed, I implore you to do whatever you can to show that they aren’t welcome on Earth, and that we don’t want them here.

If you don’t mind getting fined, spit in their ugly faces, spray them with cold water in the middle of winter, yell obscenities at them through a loudspeaker directly into their ears, throw a bucket of pigs blood on them. If they can knowingly get children killed, then they can take a little abuse.

If you don’t want to get arrested, then harass them through social media and email, every day you can. Don’t just send “you suck, kill yourself”, as these awful people probably get that every day. Instead send them links and statistics. Hard, undeniable proof that what they say can make children murder other children, or far more likely, have innocent kids kill themselves. I don’t care if they’re a primary school teacher. I don’t care if they’re a single mom. I don’t care if they run a charity food drive. You cannot be truly good, while contributing to the murders of children.

I live in a rather safe neighbourhood as far as this horrible type of discrimination goes, but I can’t just ignore all the horrible things that happen to trans youth around the world. I will not let people forget about the children they’ve killed until the day I’m rotting in the cold damp ground. If you ever receive the opportunity to tell an influential transphobe, racist, whatever, that they are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent children, do it. Anything to convince them even slightly, that they are doing something wrong.

Edit: never mind, fuck TOS. If I were given the legal opportunity to decide the punishment of those two kids who murdered Brianna Ghey, I’d have them formally executed by fatal injection. Leading up to this date they’d be put in a windowless cell where they can’t know the day or time. The press claims that there isn’t sufficient proof to label this as a hate crime, though I think any dumbass with some semblance of common sense or empathy can deduce that this was rooted in a vile hatred of transgender people. So yes, I’d absolutely put these fuckers through psychological torture for that. It’s sickening to think they’re the same age as most people in my grade, and decided to stab and kill a girl of their own free will.

Triconsonantal roots + CV syllable structure and something else.

This "something else" is that every vowel in order from the beginning of the word encodes first part of speech, then tense/case, then gender.

Would work best with 4 vowels in the inventory, like /a o i u/.

Say, a root *pst, related to writing.

First vowel encoders:

A = Noun

O = Adjective

I = Past tense verb

U = Nonpast tense verb.

Then for nouns the second vowel encodes e.g.:

A - nominative

O - accusative

I - genitive

U - dative

And the last vowel is always the encoder of gender:

A - fem.

O - masc.

The total of word configurations thusways is 4x4x4, thus 64.

Chore jest to że gdyby rodzice nie zabrali jej do szpitala to może by żyła

Mam żal do jej rodziców i tych lekarzy.

Później zdrzemnelam się i jak wstałam to wzięłam się za malowanie

Podczas malowania słuchałam z youtuba od Zuzanne Marie o Eugenie Coney.

Wydaje mi się że coś przegapiłam a jako że wyskoczyło to mi na głównej postanowiłam nadrobić

Skończyłam 2 część malowanie. Jeszcze 2 części i będzie gotowy

A po malowaniu zajęłam się oglądaniem szpitala

I oglądając usiłuje ułożyć kostki Rubika

Moja mama i ciotka zaczęły układać te 3X3X3 I 4X4X4

A ja próbuję na początek z tą trójkątną i tą 2X2X2

Wciąga to jak nie wiem

I jestem ciekawa czy kiedykolwiek mi się uda to ułożyć xD

A tymbardziej jestem ciekawa tej

Ta będzie chyba najtrudniejsza. Ale szczerze lubię to robić
