The two caravans searched where the Signers said. The painful sand digging in their face, the sharp cloud scrubbing the merchants. Damn, the food in storage was tainted! The lack of water gave them illness. Must have missed the eastern home those undead merchants, traveling to the desert.

LOOKING FOR PARTICIPANTS FOR CONLANGING STUDY!
Calling all conlangers! I’m Eddie (he/they), a conlanger and Master’s student studying applied linguistics. For my dissertation I’m looking to conduct some research on conlanging and the wonderful amazing people that do it! And if you want, you can participate in this research!!!
If you’re over the age of 18 and have made (or tried to make!) at least 1 language, you are eligible to take this questionnaire! And you don’t need any formal linguistics training or knowledge to complete it! I’ll also be conducting a few in-depth interviews (randomly selected), so if you’re interested in that part of the study as well you can indicate your interest in the questionnaire :-)
The questionnaire is on Microsoft Forms and split into two parts, so if you only have time/want to do the first one, it’s no big deal; Part 1 is more general (~15 mins), Part 2 is where you get to gush about a language you’ve made (avg ~20 mins)!
LINKS TO PARTICIPATE: Part 1, Part 2
DEADLINE: I’ll close submissions in June, but if you want to be considered for an interview, get it done by the end of May!
CONTACT: Casual or clarifying questions are welcome via tumblr (edsmore), but if you have more serious inquiries, you can find my university email on the information sheets located in the questionnaire forms.
(obligatory mention that this research is being officially conducted through the University of Oxford; information on data privacy/collection can be found in the information sheet provided in the questionnaire. The official flyer for this study with more information can be found here)
Of course this is all totally voluntary! If you’re interested, I hope to read about some of your cool languages soon!

This looks promising. Bit barebones and reliant on user input but I love the space separation (which was the best thing Vulgarlang's generator had to offer).
...though once I tried it it's limited.
The "fixer" of illegal combinations is what I liked in WordGen, and Vulgarlang (despite it being bit overcomplicated there).
The fact that it yields the exact amount of words you want it to make, all original, is very nice though.
The interface is neat, I will look into that right now.
No, doesn't allow the gimmicky self-reference Vulgarlang and Awkwords had, where groups of units marked via capital letters could contain other groups of units in specific combinations, Like V = a e i o u aR eR oR R = r l y w C = t n s h r d l c m w f g p b v k j q x z N = t s d f g p b v k z S = CV CVN VN Word pattern: S S'S Results in: Tars'vin Cuy'do Lolg'riwn
The "allowed letters" could've been a self-updating list that adds all used letters onto itself.
In general it seems a good tool but. Not for me, who goes off orthography rather than phonetics - which Lexifer is all about it seems.
Thanks @vilikemorgenthal but I think I'll pass.
Wonderful, Awkwords is down, the best word generator on the net for me.
Wrdz sucks because it's misimplemented and buggy (always tries to generate monosyllabic words even when prohibited from doing that?), WordGen by JasonTank is mediocre/bad because of how it encodes symbols (aka literally without spaces, disallowing making a two-letter unit, and Vulgarlang is just outright unsuited for the task.

I’m sooooo bad at being brief and succinct. But I need so many extra words to make my meaning clear. But then people don’t read the whole message because there’s too many words. So they skim it and don’t get the clear meaning….

important ! In recent years especially this year I’ve noticed a lot that the internet language picked up so many Islamic phrases and, from a muslim perspective, it makes the internet a little more welcoming. the thing is, a lot of the time with Islamic phrases you have to be careful about when and where to say them they hold their own weight and demand their own respect so here is a list explaining each phrase and some notes about it.
In sha allah
It means “ If God wills “. Muslims say it because we’re unaware of what future holds it’s actually blasphemous to claim to know the future, so saying so means “ If it’s the will of god it will happen if not it won’t “ and you’d say it about future events. side note, it’s also a polite way of saying No. for example, someone asks you to do something and you say in sha allah. Technically you’re not saying yes or no, and if it’s not in god’s will it won’t happen.
Ma sha allah
It means “ this is what god intended “ and it’s a compliment. Saying so is like saying WOW! But it’s also kind of a prayer of protection? If I see someone with pretty hair I should say “ Ma sha allah your hair is very pretty “ the ma sha allah protects the person from the evil eye. By saying that I’m also saying I’m not jealous I’m genuinely enamored and I don’t wish any harm to go to it.
Astagfurullah
it means “ to god I repent “ or “ from god I seek forgiveness” it’s usually used when you make a mistake but people also use it when they see something bad or when they want to avoid saying something bad. Like once my card refused to work and I’d say that so I won’t say any curse words and to calm down my anger
wallah/wallahi
okay this one is important. This one shouldn’t be used so lightly. It means “ by god’s name “ and it’s basically swearing in Allah’s name. You are only supposed to say it if you genuinely mean what you’re saying. It’s such a heavy word that I only say it very rarely and if you say it and don’t follow up on what you said you have to fast for three days as repentance.
One more note is that with the name of Allah you should also be careful it’s not supposed to be written on papers that’ll get stepped on or lightly used in art because it also has its own weight it’s regarded heavily. Like even in home decorations it should be elevated and not overshadowed. If I have to throw away a paper I have to sit down and color over the name of Allah or burn the papers so it won’t get thrown in trash.
another note is that those phrases aren’t Muslim exclusive. Some Arab non-Muslims use them as well. This is only my explanation from a Muslim perspective.
Another another note is this is what I can remember at the moment but if you have additions or enquiries let me know

A conlang where a "separator morpheme" is present, meant to separate morphemes from one another. If two morphemes are combined without it placed between them, they are considered one singular morpheme, and thus a new meaning.
Taq = n. fire Yad = n. man
Taquyad = n. firefighter
Taqyad = n. man of fire, fire associated man
Or idk.

I HAVE RETURNED
with a new edition of my script.
Tumblr media
Meet _script with no name_. Unlike the last one I posted this script wasn't made for the purpose of creating a new language; it's meant to be used for english.
It has most of the letters in the Latin alphabet (not including Q and X, although I might make a glyph for X for ʃ), except for vowels. I went against organizing my glyphs in total alphabetical order by instead separating the x-heights, descenders, and ascenders.
This is technically an abugida (I think), but instead of putting diacritics above a consonant I made a separate glyph used for vowels. The glyph itself means nothing, I made it for the circumstance of a word starting with a vowel.
If you take a closer look at the diacritics underneath the consonants (I'm sorry they're so small), each one is meant to sit on the flat top of the "vowel".
I kept it simple by making a + e and i + o the same thing with only a dot to differentiate the syllable, u is the only diacritic that looks different.
This took me three days, not because it was hard, a lot of these glyphs are recycled or borrowed from actual languages (Georgian was my main inspiration, I like the curves and stuff). Some things were the same letter in different iterations (there are 5 m looking glyphs, and three different types of a), or regular letter I took from the alphabet and assigned to another letter.
Overall this isn't anything impressive. I'm not going to do anything for numerals, normal ones are fine.
Under the break are all the drafts I did!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Admittedly I wanted to make a syllabary but being able to just write words instead of spending three hours brainstorming is more fun imo.
I haven't written this on paper yet, but I don't think the glyphs will be a hassle to write quickly.

Good morning everyone, the weather today is biscuits. Cats around the world have been crashing the market for millennia. This is why so many had to be buried with the pharaohs of ancient Egypt. No other way to dispose of biscuit surplus but to bury it. As it turns out, this was the true culprit behind mummification. Biscuits draining the moisture out of an enclosed space faster than an elephant having a spa day.
