Rq who is nika? Had some art tagged daminika cross my dash and I am Intrigued

Nika alias Flatline, a character created by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Gleb Melnikov, was introduced in Robin(2021) run—where Damian Wayne as the fifth Robin running off home attended the Death tournament on Lazarus Island.

Nika is the first opponent Damian faces on the island and she proceeds to take his first life with her signature move— ripping his heart out with her bare hand (no one actually dies, people would have three lives during the tournament on the island).

She is a Russian metahuman girl and a martial arts fighter, with the power to absorb the skills of people who had died in her hands.

Quick tip for anyone who is new to comics or who is not new to comics, but hasn't put enough effort into reading them yet:

You can NOT be a Cassandra's fan if you haven't read Batgirl (2000) & Batgirl (2009)

You can NOT be a Jason's fan if you haven't read "Batman: Under the Hood" & "Red Hood: Lost Days"

You can NOT be a Damian's fan if you haven't read "Robin: Son of Batman" & "Batman & Robin (2011)"

Not only are all 6 of these books really great reads on their own right that can be enjoyed by all readers, but they also define these 3 characters and reading all of them them is essential for understanding them, so if you haven't already, go read them!

Sometimes I think about how even when I'm trying not to be, I am entirely made of the people I love. I recently reconnected with a close friend I hadn't seen in about three years. Apparently they're into watching video essays now. I'm more of a gaming YouTube person, but to each their own, I've always known this friend to be a touch more academic than me anyway. Fair enough. We find other things to talk about.

It is two months later. My watch later list is entirely filled with video essays. Three years is not enough time to forget how to love somebody. I'm glad of that.

in 2020 and 2021 i came up with Top Ten lists for my favorite kpop songs of the year, and i wrote reviews of each of them, just talking about how they really defined the year for me, what they meant to me and stuff. i didnt do it last year, and i might this year, but tbh i might literally just write about Ditto. it's my number 1 song and i have so, so, so, so much to say about it. i've been preparing for this for 365 days lol. i have things i could say about the other 9 songs that i have picked out, but i might just write about Ditto only

@star-lemonade: One of the first SKZ writers I followed. Always so sweet to talk to too! I always go back for more!

@multifandomfantasies: Not afraid do dark fics and we need more do that. At least I do. It’s something I’m into and has delivered. And if that’s not your thing? Sweet, they have other amazing works.

@skz-bb: Personal favorite for Euphonious. It’s on going but oh my god, my feels. I’m so invested in the characters. Always dying to know more.

@setsugekka and @ballelino were mentioned already but also goals for me as a writer. God damn. They constantly surprise me.

(1) the roommate by rosie danan (almost done); (2) angels’ blood by nalini singh (i actually dnf this book originally and i’m retrying it again... it looks like i might not finish again); (3) a great and terrible beauty by libba bray (reread, trying to figure out why i liked it so much when i first read it; almost done); (4) book of just (#3 bohemian gospel trilogy) by dana chamblee carpenter (just kind of started); and (5) ross poldark by winston graham (it’s fine but also a little dull, I wanted to read it before i started the show but I also acknowledge that it’s very slow for me)... i start and stop books a lot. i do tend to give books a lot of chances to get better if it takes me awhile to get into which is why my reading pile is always so high. i also read a lot of fanfics when i don’t want to get invested in new characters/situations, aside from a few familiar characters... it sometimes helps. i have these moments where i need new characters! and then I get disappointed by the new characters lol i’m the problem.

last movie: i don’t watch a lot of movies these days BUT i did watch how the grinch stole christmas for xmas with my fam

currently consuming: candy that my next door neighbor brought me, she does this for holiday season

currently watching: rewatched iwtv and it is very multi-layer and excellent commentary on race and racism... and religious zealots. but also gay vampires and my murder daughter, claudia.  i also watch a lot of yt essayist/reaction/recap idk what they’re called these days lol

currently craving: to have an utterly boring next year lol like that’s it that’s the bar. i don’t want quiet per se but something very close to that.
