ghost in your home was not supposed to end like that at all lol, wrestled with the idea of letting him have his cake and eat it too or shove it in his face a bit more and ended up with just letting him be

work's been a little light and there's a brief lull on the job hunting side so i've been reading books lately and i think i've found my first 5/5 read since tana french's the likeness. it's called The Three of Us by Ore Agbaje-Williams and it's about this unnamed woman and her husband and best friend who both despise each other. the book is divided into 3 parts, one for each person so you get to see where everyone is coming from. it's a really short but also really dense novel about their messy complicated dynamics. i found the central conflict of conventional socially-recognized patriarchal hetero marriage versus platonic co-dependent independent-woman friendship extremely compelling. i'm nothing like Temi, the friend in personality and yet coming from a similarly conservative culture her life goals completely align with mine, and i can relate to the pain and bafflement of seeing my friends become (to me) lesser versions of themselves and living worse lives to live up to societal expectations even if it's something that they actively choosing to do. on a fundamental level, temi doesn't get it, will probably never get it and neither will i. and it's funny. excellent read, probably my fav book this year

Okay i dont talk about HRT with people a lot and i started E when i was a teen so i actually didnt know estradiol injections were a thing until i saw your posts. I thought injections where a T thing and that we all got E through titty skittles.
I want to ask what the difference actually is because its piqued my interest. It sounds pretty annoying compared to a pill. Is it cheaper or more often covered?
also ps i know youre not my doctor but is 44pgml too low?
So first off, yes, 44pg/mL is way too low by any standard. The usual standard you'll see is 100-200pg/mL, but this is starting to be considered very, very low. More modern standards of care try for 200pg/mL at trough (the lowest you should be- on sublingual this doesn't vary much though). Generally 200-400 pg/mL is the more typical modern guidance. Your T is also very important here. It's very difficult to get your E high without your T going at least a bit down first.
With that said, self injecting E seems very intimidating at first, but has a lot of benefits, including but not limited to:
The main benefit is medical. Injecting E bypasses the liver. This means that you're stressing out the liver less.
This has an added benefit: you can safely get a much higher effective dose with little to no health concerns. Eg, Oral and sublingual generally have a limit of 8mg sublingual per day, and most of that gets completely destroyed by the body via the liver before it acts on estrogen receptors. Sublingual injections come in different forms, and the dose numbers aren't directly translatable, but no matter what you do, the effective amount of estrogen you're delivering is much, much higher.
Additionally, this means that your estrogen can safely get high enough to suppress T on its own. Once your T is down, and E stops being suppressed by T, the reverse will start happening- E will down regulate T production (up to a limit but that's an additional detail). That means something awesome- no blockers. No Spiro, no cypro, no bica- all of which have some concerns of their own beyond just E.
Yes, it is easier to access. Generic, sterile, injection supplies are easily available online in large quantities from reputable medical supply sources, and the injectable medication itself is generally cheaper and more likely covered by insurance.
This also means it's uh. Easier to access when access to HRT is... Non-conventional.
Whiiiiich also means another thing. Injectable medication is always limited by expiration time and the sterility of the vial, not the quantity it's packaged in. Which means that IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOURE DOING, you have flexibility in your dosage if you so choose. Eg, I have personally talked with my provider about how to do this safely, but I've recently tried dosages of estradiol valerate ranging from 6mg to 8mg a week. Again, remember that this isn't translatable to 8mg sublingual a day- 8mg EV injected a week is SO much higher than 8mg estradiol pills per day.
It seems intimidating, but honestly, I find a ~20 min routine on a Friday morning much easier to keep track of than taking multiple pills multiple times a day.
In general, it's considered the best HRT option, although most people ease into it with a period of time on sublingual first. If you can, get trained by a nurse to self inject the first couple of times.

I have a new comic in vol. 1 of the Lucky Pocket Press anthology, Knapsack Magazine 💌 This volume, Cassette, is 200pg of music themed comics and illustrations, including my new short The Luthier’s Son. The kickstarter launches today (here), there’s a ton of really fun and beautiful work in this book so I hope you’ll check it out.
“Knapsack Magazine is a comics anthology that is a love letter to our collective weird kid nostalgia. Comics have been ever present through our lives, and with Knapsack Magazine we wanted to emulate our love for serialized manga publications like Shojo Beat and Shonen Jump, popularized in North America during the 90’s and early 2000’s. Knapsack is meant to fit snugly in your Jansport backpack, holding precious things, ready to be a friend on your way back from school. With this anthology, we hope to evoke the memory and excitement of picking up a new manga after school and being swept away into an entirely new world.”

I am a little bit more than 200pgs into Memnoch the Devil. It's only in the last 13pgs that it has gotten interesting.
Not gonna lie the first half of this book is a little boring, I don't know why we spend so much time with Roger and Dora I'm hoping there's some explanation in the second half. Also, the writing in this feels different I don't know if Anne was changing her writing style or if 2 re-reads and 4 books into this series I am getting used to her writing so I'm processing it easier but it feels different.
Unexpectedly best part of this book so far is this exchange between Lestat and Armand:
"And then he surprised me, rising and coming towards me just as I moved to take him in my arms. His gesture wasn't tentative, but it was extremely gentle. I could have backed away. I didn't. We held each other tight for a moment. The cold embracing the cold. The hard embracing the hard. "Cherub child," I said. I did a bold thing, maybe even a defiant thing. I reached out and mussed his snaggled curls. He is smaller than me physically, but he didn't seem to mind this gesture. In fact, he smiled, shook his head, and reclaimed his hair with a few casual strokes of his hand. His cheeks went apple-perfect suddenly, and his mouth softened, and then he lifted his right fist, and teasingly struck me hard on the chest. Really hard. Show-off. Now it was my turn to smile and I did."
This was adorable, I enjoyed their whole interaction this was just my favorite part of it. Them getting along and acting like brothers is something I didn't know I needed but I'm so glad we got it.

Hi hello:))
Sooooooo for the past like year and a half or so, I’ve been designing my 2nd photobook, called “Slow”.
This is a 200pg, 6x9, soft cover, self-published photobook featuring 35mm film photographs and journal entries created/written between 2020 and early 2023 all designed by me.
This is an attempt of documenting and archiving my existence and leaving a small legacy for those that may come or have came after me and those presently around me who I love.
Coming from an immigrant background where unfortunately there isn’t much documentation or photo evidence of relatives and their way of living prior to my parents generation, I’m hoping I can change that a bit, even if it feels small at the moment.
All the info is on my site, will link in lé bio.
My book is available for pre-order/purchase. I’ll be having a lovely launch release at @dearfriendbooks in BK, NY on March 29th from 7-9pm where you can come hang out, chat and pick up your book:)
If that’s not your vibe there are other options toooooo 🫧
pls don’t mind the scoffing on the cover I had the book on me everyday tryna snap pics of it and dropped it a few times lolll I promise yours will be in pristine condition 🤎
I hope u guys enjoy:) it’s a great addition for your coffee table and over all home!!!
Umm I think that’s all I got for now lolllll see ya soon.
From my eyes to yours, hope you enjoy 🤎
All designed by me🤎
