When the sales clerks at Woolworth's—all of them women—went on strike in March, 1937, some men (union members?) turned out to support them. They picketed near the home of Barbara Hutton, the Woolworth heiress, on March 18, 1937.

The manager of the Marietta Hotel, Obertauern, Austria, makes the worst decision ever when he tells John and Paul he hired Jacky and the Strangers, not them, to play that night, and anyway they are too loud.

On this night they were also very sweaty.

Curious fact: Apart from being the anniversary of my fic, curiously March 18 is also the day of the oil expropriation of my country xD
In fact, the president had a big event in the zócalo to commemorate the event and the whole thing. The great plinth was filled.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But I am going to apply the same thing that I do with the fairs that are held on San Juan's day, I will think that the event is for me or in this case I will think that it commemorates the anniversary of my fic just to feel u a bit important xD
Attention: The above said should be taken with humor, nothing that was said should be taken seriously.I know very well that it was a great event for my country and I have it fully in mind

Mistigram: what's your first hint that springtime is approaching and Easter season closing in fast? I'm not sure, but in surely unrelated news, the holiday being observed by AdeptApril in #ANSIart today is Goddess of Fertility Day! So get out there and, uh, track your cycle!

Last night I dreamt about kittens. That might seem like a pleasant occurrence, and I won't deny that the memory of being surrounded by them doesn't give me fuzzy feelings, but in my case, dreaming about kittens is a stressful event.
It's not the first time either.
My most common kitten dream involves me forgetting that I had them. I will be in a situation where I enter a room or open a closet and it's filled with kittens I was fostering but somehow forgot about. Sometimes for days or weeks. Thankfully, by the miracle of it being a dream, the kittens are still alive and well, but I will spend the rest of my time in this fantasy world kicking myself for being such an irresponsible kitten parent. These dreams are truly awful.
That's not the kitten dream variant I had last night.
Last night was the "I find a bunch of kittens in the wild who need to be fostered and proceed to try to catch them" variant. Sometimes the task is easy - they are newborn kittens who aren't going anywhere - but my brain will come up with impossible situations to give me a dream headache anyway.
Once, one of the newborn kittens crawled away from me and fell through a crack in the floorboards of a building to the apartment below and I had to go knock on a door to ask if I could look around and collect them. When I was back upstairs, kitten safe and sound, it happened again. This dream was honestly just shy of being too bizarre for me to not realise it wasn't real.
Last night's dream, though, involved kittens between three and six weeks old. Most of them were feral, and for some reason, one of the rooms in my parents' house, where I grew up, was crawling with them. There were kittens everywhere. I caught a few of them, but many would escape my grasp. I gave the ones I caught a litter box, but then I ran out of cat litter. All the while, my mum was complaining she didn't want them in the house, as I was on the phone with the shelter I foster for expressing the wish to foster all of these kittens myself, apparently.
I miss fostering kittens.

When Columbia University gave Winston Churchill an honorary Doctor of Laws degree on March 18, 1946, some students protested. School books belonging to the picketers lie on the sidewalk. Police routed the demonstrators from the gate about five minutes before Churchill entered the campus.

National Black Pudding Day
Savoring blood sausage connects taste buds to rich culinary traditions, blending savory notes that captivate discerning palates.
Black pudding is considered to be one of the most important traditional butcher staples in Scotland and Ireland, as well as other places in the UK. Not only placed on breakfast plates at home but also found as a gourmet menu item in fine dining establishments, this time-honored food is certainly worth celebrating and deserves its day in the sun.
National Black Pudding Day is here to give this tasty delicacy the love it deserves!
History of National Black Pudding Day
The idea behind National Black Pudding Day is to celebrate the craft behind black pudding, which is a traditional product from Britain and Ireland. Having enjoyed a revival of popularity in recent years, black pudding is a diverse and delicious food with an interesting history that goes back to at least the 14th century.
Although there are some variations on flavor, the versions of black pudding from Scotland, Ireland, as well as France and Spain, are basically the same food. Black pudding is a sort of sausage that is typically made from pork blood, or sometimes beef blood, and combined with various fillers such as oats, suet and spices. One particular kind of black pudding, called Stornoway, includes sheep’s lungs as well as the other standard ingredients.
The Irish version of National Black Pudding Day was launched in 2019 when it was started by a collaboration of butchers and chefs including The Smokin’ Butcher, Hugh Macguire, and Darina Allen. The day has been celebrated in early November in Ireland but didn’t gain traction in other places.
Beginning in 2024, a Scottish and UK version of National Black Pudding Day was planned through the support of the National Craft Butchers and Scottish Craft Butchers. With the hope that this foodstuff will receive similar attention as its famous cousin, haggis, National Black Pudding Day has been called for by various people including Scotland’s Black Pudding Champion, butcher Nigel Ovens.
How to Celebrate National Black Pudding Day
Get involved in enjoying and celebrating National Black Pudding Day with some of these ideas to connect with:
Eat Some Black Pudding
Those who live in a place where black pudding is accessible at a local restaurant or pub, National Black Pudding Day would be the perfect time to head on out and celebrate by ordering up a full Irish or an “Irish fry-up”. Enjoy the black pudding with bacon rashers, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, and obviously some traditional Irish soda bread.
Try a New Black Pudding Recipe
With the opportunity to grill, fry, bake, simmer or even microwave black pudding, there are all sorts of ways that black pudding can be prepared. But for those who want to go beyond just the traditional, perhaps National Black Pudding Day would be the right time to get a bit creative. Consider some of these interesting recipes to try that feature black pudding:
Black pudding sausage rolls with chorizo, and goat cheese
Black pudding salad with caramelized apples and honey mustard dressing
Black pudding breakfast with diced garlic potatoes and baked eggs
Black pudding on sourdough with smashed avocado
