CRMINAL LOVE (I)

Summary: Your boyfriend, Park Sunghoon got a call from his parents whom he have not been in contact for 3 years demands for him to go back to Seoul out of the blue. You had one last dinner together and spend the night together before his flight tomorrow morning.

Chapter 1

You just finished your shower before an aromatic smell of pizza and ramen fills your olfactory system. You walk towards your kitchen only to see your boyfriend whom you have been dating for 6 months is busy with the stove with your apron looking good on him. You slowly make your way to him and give him a back hug.

"You just showered right?"

He asked with a smile on his face.

"Hmm. Now I'm hungry though."

You peek through his side to get the view of what he is making at the moment.

"Hungry? for me? I know that I am irresistible but I have to feed you a proper meal first before you get your main dish like last night."

He wiggle his eyebrows as he said the suggestive words to you which made you give him a little pinch on his abdomen.

"Of course I mean the food! Don't flattered yourself too much Park Sunghoon."

He let out a chuckle before he turned off the stove. You helped him to serve the instant tteokbeokki that he made just now. It turned out Sunghoon bought a box of regular pizza and made 2 servings of ramen and the instant tteokbeokki to have a pleasant dinner with you that night before he have to go back to Seoul, South Korea to visit his family.

"Do you really have to go back home? I mean.. It's not like you are in a good relationship with your parents, right?"

You decided to speak out your mind as both of you are cuddling for one last time before he is gone tomorrow.

"I know, babe. I don't even want to set my footstep again in that home. But I have no choice. I promise I will be back soon, alright?"

Sunghoon tries to comfort you knowing that you feel uneasy and annoyed that his parents who kicked him out all the way from Seoul to the US called him out of the blue to go home and expecting his appearance after 3 years with no contact. You know well about his relationship with his family since he would call you for comfort every time he was hurt and fought with his parents over phone calls. From the day he cried and shows his vulnerable side for the first time to you, you swore to yourself to never let him feel that pain ever again as long as both of you are together, through thick and thin.

Sunghoon only started to be rebellious after he met you when he tried to committed suicide at a beach that you visited after being fired from your previous job. From that day till now, you feel responsible to comfort and give him every types of support and love that you can give him. And it obviously involves your body but you never care about that as what matter the most to you is his happiness and well-being, in which his parents barely care about.

While living with him under the same roof, which is an apartment that his parents bought for him to stay at the US, you have learned that Sunghoon's life was never the same. He lost his mother due to a hit and run car accident. His father who is an assemblyman holds enough power to call for further investigation as it could be a murder case considering the fact that she was the wife of an assemblyman. But, his father decided to accept that it was an unfortunate hit and run accident and the culprit was ordered to have a lifetime sentence at the jail. Not long after that, his father remarries another woman and have a daughter named Yeri who is now 14 years old.

As an orphan, you always thought that you were the most unfortunate on earth until you met Sunghoon who invited you to live with him at his apartment that his parents bought him when they sent him over to the US for him to further his studies. You lost your parents at a young age and have been living at an orphanage at a countryside where you met Sunghoon for the first time while he was trying to committed suicide by the lake that you were passing by. Sunghoon's existence in your life signifies a new beginning to you and to himself. You know that you are no longer alone and lonely with him by your side. And to Sunghoon, he finally learned and knows what love is and how does it feels like.

Both of you decided to watch Netflix while cuddling after the dinner but it is not as warm as it used to be. The silence that you and Sunghoon created from having a lot of thoughts has never been that loud. Unconsciously, your hug tightened on him as you couldn't stop thinking about him having to meet his family. And this of course did not go unnoticed by Sunghoon who turned to look at you and silently rub your cheeks, which make you turn back to the reality.

"What is my princess thinking about, hmm?"

Your numb expression breaks Sunghoon's heart as he knows that he is the caused of your sadness.

"What if they want you to stay in Seoul forever? What about me? What am I going to do?"

You finally breaks down into tears with your hands cupping your face in attempt to hide your sorrow from him which failed since he managed to grab your hands and hold it in his hands.

"Hey, hey. Now, listen to me babe. Knowing my parents, there's no way they would thought of that. I am a menace to them. Having me staying together with them only means problem so why would they bother about that?"

You can't stop your tears and now Sunghoon is crying as well as he bring your body closer to him if that even possible, giving you the hug the hits different at the moment.

"Promise me that you will be back soon, Hoon."

You look straight at his crystal-like eyes from the tears that filled his eyes waiting for his reply. Sunghoon look at your eyes lovingly before he pats your head and hug you again as he whispered to your ear.

"I promise I will be back before you even know it. We have a promise to make our family together here right? How could I leave you without fulfilling our promise?"

He breaks the hug and bring his hands to cup your face and take a good look of it as if he is imprinting your image in his head.

"Be a good girl for me while I'm gone, can you do that for me babe?"

You nodded your head to him as your respond.

" You can be a good girl for me, right? You are such a good girl to me I know you can do this. WE can do this together, babe."

You nod your head again with your eyes shut knowing that you will have to accept the reality sooner or later. You feel Sunghoon's fingers on your chin which made you open your eyes again. Soon enough, his fingers are on your lips ribbing on it so gently and sensual before he put his index and middle fingers on your mouth asking for you to suck on it.

And it was at that moment the night lose and both of you win again having one of the longest night that you spend together under the sheets.

Dzisiaj był taki dziwny dzień, w sumie to nie wiem co się działo ani jak się czuje. Na szczęście pamiętam co jadłam, chociaż wolałabym chyba zapomnieć. (z niejedzeniem cukru zaczynam od jutra bo dzisiaj jeszcze przez postanowieniem tego zjadłam)

• dwie bułki na śniadanie - 438 kcal

(wzięłam w przepływie nie wiem czego, no a potem nie miałam możliwości wyrzucić więc mimo że myślałam że żygne to zjadłam)

• lód karmelowy - 209 kcal

(koleżanka mnie namówiła na loda, a wzięłam takiego bo kurwa pies był na opakowaniu XDD mi już naprawdę odbija, a lód nawet dobry nie był)

(niestety mój pomysł z kupieniem tego, nie wiem co miałam w głowie totalnie, ale stało się)

A Gay Girl's Guide to Korean Musicals (with English subtitles!)

People often associate musicals with male gayness (both onstage and off) but there's stuff out there for female-oriented queers too! It's just harder to find, which is why I put this video together despite not knowing Korean.

This list isn't comprehensive and I deliberately chose musicals with either queer female characters or gender-free casting (i.e. female actors playing male roles), except for Bernarda Alba, which is special as it’s by far the largest-scale all-female production with 10 characters. Obviously there are many Korean musicals out there which don't meet these criteria and are still of interest to the queers, but I wanted to highlight these in particular as they are, apart from Rebecca, not as well-known. I highly recommend checking out @koreanmusicals for more information on Korean musicals generally!

Note: Again, I don’t understand Korean and relied heavily on machine translation and the original lyrics for licenced productions, so any errors in the subtitles or explanations are mine. Corrections are very welcome!

How did Gilmore Girls stack up?

Season 1 comes in at #143, with 82.1 million minutes viewed.

Season 2 comes in at #161, with 75.2 million views.

Season 3 comes in at #175, with 71.3 million views.

Season 5 comes in at #179, with 69.9 million views.

Season 4 is at #180, with 69.8 million minutes viewed.

Season 6 comes in at #207, with 63.9 million views.

Season 7 comes in at #250, with 56.5 million views.

AYITL comes in at....#1256, with 17.1 million minutes viewed.

What does all this prove? Well, it doesn't surprise me that the seasons get less popular as the show worsens, though it is curious that season 5 is slightly more popular than season 4.

However, geesh, AYITL is really not watched much at all compared to the original series. It's got a little less than a third of the viewership of season 7, and even season 7 doesn't have close to the viewership of the early seasons. I think this is why the constant cries for a sequel to the revival (mostly to "fix" the revival's plot) haven't gone anywhere: there is no use in paying AYITL level salaries for a project that isn't going to merit big numbers.

People don't like AYITL, they don't watch it in big numbers, and they only clamor for a continuation to relive a bygone era. I didn't expect the gap to be this big, though.

WIP Update - 14 Dec 2022

Had another nicely productive writing week - I touched 10 fics (4 WIPs & 6 new works) for a total of 2414 words.

On Ao3, I posted I posted an AmeriHawk (Clint/Steve) hookup (fade to black) fic, a BruceNat ficlet based on their A:AoU farmhouse scene, a Clint/Thor internal monologue drabble and an elf!Tony &elf-Steve Christmas fluff teamup.

On Tumblr, I posted a Steve & Bucky post CA:CW ficlet for last week’s Flash Fiction Friday prompt: #FFF180 Promise You’ll Write.

Am up to 15 active WIPs (with a couple of maybe TBCs) with my current deadline being the Avengers Bingo, with Man with a Plan and Starkbucks and coming in close behind!

See below cut for the WIPs (arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc) I am working on - feel free to send me prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding any of these projects (or any other WIPs I’ve got out there) – they really help feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Avengers Bingo [AvB] (Runs thru 24 Dec )

Fourteen fills posted (13 to Ao3) and 0 WIPs - Everything is written!!! I just need to edit and post to get my blackout on this 4x4 card!!! I decided to further challenge myself on this 16-square card by pairing up each square with a unique combo of 2 original MCU Avengers, with the final square being dealers’ choice. With the help of the STB Enthusiasts Discord folks - I’ve got all 16 squares planned out, at least in terms of who to write about, and half of them have some sort of idea or crossover square to go along with them. Feel free to toss other plot bunnies my way…

* B3 - Road Trip - Wrote up and posted Sailing Toward a New Horizon to Tumblr. It’s a Thor & Bruce post-Ragnarok ficlet that also filled a Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF177 Expand Through Horizons] Scheduled for Ao3 on 12/19.

* B4 - Age Gap - Finished up Caught By the Rain and Blinded by the Lightning - a Thor/Tony post CA:CW PWP crossing over with TSB One Night Stand. It came in at 1256 words & is scheduled for Ao3 on 12/23.

* C1 - Opposites Attract - Clint/Thor - Posted Nothing Like Him this morning - an introspective Clint POV drabble. I really struggled with this one. Last weekend, I wrote about 200 words based on the Tumblr headcanon going around about a Bumbling Foreigner whose ignorance of local customs results in him flirting with/proposing to the prince - but it didn’t jell. Tried a moodboard, but wasn’t happy with that either. Finally approached the prompt from a different angle and ended up with what’s linked above.

* D1 - Friends w/ Benefits - Clint/Steve - posted Aiming for the Stars on Friday - an AmeriHawk post-mission fic where heavy flirting leads to a fade to black hookup. It’s crossing over with my MWAPB Hawkeye/Clint Barton and came in at 720 words. I may continue it if/when I have the smut spoons.

* D2 - Romeo & Juliet AU - wrote up Two Friend Groups: Alike in Dignity - Steve (jock) & Tony (geek) trying out for title roles in R&J - despite their respective friend groups objections/grousing about the other clique. It came in at 327 words and will post on 12/21.

* D3 - Bed Sharing - posted Finding Refuge on Ao3 on Monday - it’s a Natasha/Bruce fic that is Age of Ultron based (divergent) and also fills the Comfortember Day 16 prompt: Shelter.

Man With a Plan (Steve Rogers) Bingo [MWAPB] (Runs thru 31 Dec)

Fifteen fills, 3 WIPs and several Vague Ideas/potential cross fills with other bingos. Since the event was pretty much abandoned by its creator (life happens, I get it), I’m finishing this pretty much out of stubbornness and may carry some squares over for inspiration into the new year.

* I1 - Steve is here for TFAtWS - I’ve got Passing the Torch pretty much sorted out - a moodboard for this square paired with a ficlet for my BBB “Oh, hell no" square - Bucky POV (with some extra insider info) of the events where Sam is given Cap’s shield. It’s scheduled for 12/21 with the fic coming in at 339 words.

* G4 - Canon Divergence post CA:TWS - possible crossover with BBB Kill List – Bucky wreaking havoc on Hydra bases and Steve & Sam catch up with him. Not on my Bingo Attack plan list, so probably won’t get done.

* G5 - Friends to Lovers - possibly combine this with my BBB Free & Stucky Mutual Pining square for the Centerfold fic idea I’ve been rolling around = min 950 words if I finish it before this bingo (lower priority)

* O2 - Sex Pollen - A Dusting of Trouble is pretty much wrapped up - Steve and Bucky get curious when they learn Teenage Groot’s pollen is an aphrodisiac. It crosses over with my SRB - Groot square, is currently sitting at 505 words, and scheduled for 12/16. If I’m feeling feisty, I may add another scene/200-ish more words so it crosses over with BBB KINK:Aftercare square (and goes Stuckony)

* O3 - Hawkeye/Clint Barton - see AvB - Friends w/ Benefits above.

* O5 - FREE - Filling this with one of the following: -- Badges for this bingo based on photos of my Steve Rogers SWC figures - participant, bingo and blackout. If I have spare time before Friday.

-- Chapter 1 of Never Have I Ever (But I’d Like to With You) - a pining!Steve POV of the team playing NHIE where he manages to get one over on Tony. It’s scheduled for 12/16 and is coming in at 995 words.

StarkBucks Bingo - Round 3 (SBB_R3) - Ends 31 Dec

Thirteen fills (11 posted to Ao3), 3 WIPs and several Vague Ideas - soliciting plot bunnies or other kick-starters.

* B1 - “I wouldn’t mind wasting my time on you.“ - Possible crossover with BBB - KINK: Seduction Mission? Not on my Bingo Attack plan list, so probably won’t get done.

* I2 - Mistaken Identity - crossover with TSB K5 - Protectiveness - “The Mechanic, The Soldier & The Artist” - mob/assassin AU with a Mr. & Mrs. Smith twist? Not on my Bingo Attack plan list, so probably won’t get done.

* I3 - “Oh dear.” - Wrote up a remix ficlet of Leading Questions - Tony POV on the stressful interview and the immediate aftermath. It came it at 255 words and is scheduled for 12/21.

* I4 - Canon: Avengers Academy - will probably do Stuffed Marvels sketches of Tony and Winter, as I know very little about the game/canon. It’s on my Bingo Attack plan list, but at the bottom, so don’t hold your breath.

* N3 - FREE - Filling this with An Act of Kindness, a fluffy meet-cute with Tony & Morgan needing a bit of help from the handsome stranger standing in line at the coffee shop. It’s coming in at 462 words and is scheduled for 12/19.

* N5 - “Wanna make a bet?” Used this in combination with the Day 18 Fictober (“I don’t think this is your problem.”) and Flufftober (Soulmate AU) prompts for Marked-Up Soulmarks - a soulmate AU where Tony discovers he and Steve have something (and someone) in common. I may expand on this before posting it to Ao3 and/or claiming it as an official fill. Currently coming in at 418 words.

This was supposed to fill my Man with a Plan Bingo Soulmates square, but I ran out of time on that bingo. We’re currently sitting at 1640 words (984-ish of which are mine). POISONOUS MUSHROOM: AMANITA

Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric or fly amanita, is a basidiomycete of the genus Amanita. It is also a muscimol mushroom. Native throughout the temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere, Amanita muscaria has been unintentionally introduced to many countries in the Southern Hemisphere, generally as a symbiont with pine and birch plantations, and is now a true cosmopolitan species. It is associated with various deciduous and coniferous trees. Arguably the most iconic toadstool species, the fly agaric is a large white-gilled, white-spotted, usually red mushroom, and is one of the most recognizable and widely encountered in popular culture, including in video games—e.g., the extensive use of a recognizable Amanita muscaria in the Mario franchise and its Super Mushroom power up—and television—e.g., the houses in The Smurfs franchise.

HOW TO IDENTIFY IT

All have white gills, white spores and grow from a bag (volva). When identifying mushrooms that you aren’t familiar with, it’s important to get to the very base of the stem (or stipe) and make a note of what you find; this bulbous base is a key identifier for the Amanitas. This can often be buried under the forest detritus, or lodged well in the ground.

Most have a skirt which can either be smooth or striated. Look closely at the characteristics of each skirt when you begin to learn about the individual species within this family. The Grisettes, a subspecies of the Amanitas generally do not have skirts. Be aware that the skirt on a mushroom can easily be knocked or worn off, even before you have handled it.

TAXONOMY AND NAMING

The name of the mushroom in many European languages is thought to derive from its use as an insecticide when sprinkled in milk. This practice has been recorded from Germanic- and Slavic-speaking parts of Europe, as well as the Vosges region and pockets elsewhere in France, and Romania. Albertus Magnus was the first to record it in his work De vegetabilibus some time before 1256, commenting vocatur fungus muscarum, eo quod in lacte pulverizatus interficit muscas, "it is called the fly mushroom because it is powdered in milk to kill flies."Ramsbottom, p 44. TOXICITY

Mature. The white spots may wash off with heavy rainfall.

Amanita muscaria poisoning has occurred in young children and in people who ingested the mushrooms for a hallucinogenic experience. Occasionally it has been ingested in error, because immature button forms resemble puffballs.Benjamin, Mushrooms: poisons and panaceas, pp 303–04. The white spots sometimes wash away during heavy rain and the mushrooms then may appear to be the edible A. caesarea. Amanita muscaria contains several biologically active agents, at least one of which, muscimol, is known to be psychoactive. Ibotenic acid, a neurotoxin, serves as a prodrug to muscimol, with a small amount likely converting to muscimol after ingestion. An active dose in adults is approximately 6 mg muscimol or 30 to 60 mg ibotenic acid; this is typically about the amount found in one cap of Amanita muscaria. The amount and ratio of chemical compounds per mushroom varies widely from region to region and season to season, which can further confuse the issue. Spring and summer mushrooms have been reported to contain up to 10 times more ibotenic acid and muscimol than autumn fruitings. Deaths from this fungus A. muscaria have been reported in historical journal articles and newspaper reports, but with modern medical treatment, fatal poisoning from ingesting this mushroom is extremely rare.

FLY TRAP

Amanita muscaria is traditionally used for catching flies possibly due to its content of ibotenic acid and muscimol. Recently, an analysis of nine different methods for preparing A. muscaria for catching flies in Slovenia have shown that the release of ibotenic acid and muscimol did not depend on the solvent (milk or water) and that thermal and mechanical processing led to faster extraction of ibotenic acid and muscimol.

Are you interested in attending BPA events and assisting with BPA fundraising?

We encourage you to attend the Monday, April 22 interest meeting via Zoom (https://smuhsd-org.zoom.us/j/99080642048) from 6-7 p.m. to learn how you can get involved with the BPA.

The BPA is a 501(c)(3) volunteer-led association that supports equitable and inclusive learning environments for our students. The group is dedicated to cooperatively promoting quality education for students of African, African American, or multiracial descent while offering the best level of support and information to both students and parents. Through collaboration, participation and support, they help to enrich our students’ high school journey preparing them to reach their fullest potential.

In order to continue to be operational, the group needs a Board of Directors, including a president, treasurer, and secretary. These individuals need to be at least 18 years of age, so the opportunity could be extended to recent high school graduates who have an interest in learning more about non-profit management.
