:0 Vampire Colton part 3 please??
you got it! tagging @whumpsday aka the vampire whump expert since they asked to be tagged. i bow down to them. also tagging @sordayciega @whumpycries since they expressed some interest, hope that's okay! <3
enjoy some more vampire col. CW for dehumanisation, pet whump and animal death
part 1 / part 2 /
-
“Okay, before we do anything else, let’s get you something to eat. You’ve probably not been fed in a while, right?”
The vampire hardly moved. Apparently, he was unwilling to budge from his place at Linden’s feet right now. That was okay- Linden could make it work.
“I’ll be right back. Don’t go anywhere.”
The last thing he wanted was a vampire silently following him downstairs and giving him a heart attack. And, though it made him feel guilty, he did want to at least find out if this vampire was obedient.
Linden had made sure to have blood delivered to the house well before the vampire’s arrival. Cow blood. Apparently it was similar to those freeze dried military rations that technically provided all the nutrients you needed, but tasted of absolutely nothing at best (and at worst, tasted like shit).
He’d had mixed answers when he asked if vampires could develop an addiction to a specific person’s blood. If he let the vampire feed from him, would it make him more likely to attack him, to get another fix?
The pet handlers hadn’t even let him finish before they interrupted him with a solid no, do not ever let them taste your blood.
“But why not, specifically?” Linden had pressed.
“Just don’t. You know human blood is like fucking crack to them. Crack flavoured with caviar and truffle oil and whatever other delicious shit you can come up with. It’s a luxury you can’t afford to give.”
Vik had been even less helpful.
“What, you’re gonna cut yourself? Or just flick your hair back like a shampoo ad and tell him to tuck in? Don’t be so stupid.”
Vik had snatched Linden’s phone not long after and put himself on speed dial. For if, no, when you need some hired muscle.
The cow blood slipped out of the package in a singular congealed brick. It slapped against the bottom of the bowl, bounced once and then wobbled grotesquely. Regular liquid blood was hardly appealing, but Linden felt like this would make even a vampire’s stomach turn. He supposed he was about to test that hypothesis for himself.
He put the bowl on the table with a spoon lined neatly beside it. Standing at the bottom of the stairs, where he could just about see the vampire’s hair, he called up. “I have something for you to eat, if you want to come downstairs?”
He really needed to find out if this poor pet had a name.
. . .
Pet had to obey, even though he wanted to stay curled up forever, where he could do no harm.
He wondered what he’d be given to eat, then kicked himself for actually believing that he’d be fed.
Master would probably have him chew on rocks, or glass, or silver. Something to show him exactly what’d happen to his mouth if he ever tried to use it as a weapon.
He pulled himself from the floor, heavy with resignation. He knew it had to be done. The sooner he could prove himself the better. He’d take it like a good boy.
Besides, Master was actually incorrect- Pet had eaten recently. He’d been praised for good behaviour just a few weeks ago and rewarded with a dead rat, and he’d actually shed a few tears of happiness. His handlers found all of this hilarious, and Pet was aware that somewhere in the world there were pictures of him ripping the rat to pieces with his hands and squeezing the bits of flesh through the gaps in his muzzle.
Pet could certainly smell something from downstairs, but he couldn’t speculate on how it’d be used to taunt him. He was too stupid for all that.
It was hard to crawl down the stairs, but he managed, grateful for the way it slowed him down even more. He had been promised food- even though he knew it was merely a test, he couldn’t let himself down by lunging forward, or displaying any kind of preternatural hunger.
The smell became so strong that his eyes could follow it, landing on a bowl at the kitchen table. Master was stood to one side of it- keeping a safe distance, Pet couldn’t help but notice.
“I know you’re hungry, but let’s just take this slow. I won’t take it away, I promise. I won’t do anything. Why don’t you come and sit at the table and then you can eat it however you like, and I’ll be nearby. Good?”
Pet nodded. He would be good. He did as he was told and balanced onto the chair, unused to being so far from the ground. The bowl was filled with animal blood. Lots of it, too.
He stared into the firm blood, but couldn’t see anything painful hidden within it. Couldn’t smell anything untoward, either. Glancing around, he noticed that he wasn’t in a direct sun-path, should the curtains be pulled open. His eyes fell on his owner, who had moved to stand against the kitchen counter, the table forming a barrier. Was it Master, then? Would Master do something while he was distracted?
It was useless trying to anticipate something that he couldn’t fight off, anyway. He placed a hand by his legs, steadying himself on the chair, and brought the bowl up to his face. As he licked it up, he felt… nothing. It didn’t hurt.
Pet finished the entire bowl, licking it thoroughly with his newly-freed tongue. He had been allowed to eat all of it. His stomach was actually full, for the first time in decades. He knew his body would make short work of converting it into strength.
Vampiric strength. That was wrong, surely? Master wouldn’t want to undo all the hard work the handlers had put in. Pet was wonderfully, pathetically domesticated. He could stay that way all the better if kept in the pits of starvation.
He was so confused it was making his head spin. All he could do in the present was gently put the bowl back down, licked clean, and get back down onto his knees to show his gratitude.

June Monthly Recap:
Between getting sick and being on vacation, I didn't read very consistently this month, or really read things that weren't cozy mysteries (which tend to feel more like snacks to me, and therefore are easier to pick up). Which does mean that I pretty much completely neglected my goals - not a great month for me all round. I did finish listening to Night Watch, though, which was absolutely amazing! I totally get why everyone loves it.

EXCLUSIVE: Hawaii Five-0 star Scott Caan has been tapped as the male lead opposite Dania Ramirez in Fox’s Alert, a character-driven police procedural from The Blacklist showrunner John Eisendrath and Jamie Foxx, Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment, sources tell Deadline.
Written by Eisendrath, Alert is about the Philadelphia Police Department’s missing person’s unit. When police officer Nikki Parker’s (Ramirez) son goes missing, she joins the LAPD’s Missing Person’s Unit to help other people find their loved ones, even as she searches for her own. Six years later, her world is turned upside-down when her ex-husband, Devon Zoellner (Caan), shows up with a proof-of-life photo of their missing boy. Or is it? The series is a procedural drama with a search for a missing person in each episode, that runs alongside the overarching storyline of Nikki and Devon’s quest to find out the truth about the person claiming to be their long-lost son.
Caan’s Devon is fearless, smart and calm and under stress. He thrived in the life and death world of war-torn Iraq—until the disappearance of his 11-year-old son brought him rushing back. Six years later, with his son still missing, his marriage over and his personal life a mess, he is asked by his ex to help find a young kidnap victim.
Eisendrath serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Foxx and Datari Turner.
This marks Caan’s return to television following his 10-season starring run as Danny “Danno” Williams on CBS’ Hawaii Five-0. He also starred in the final two seasons of Entourage for HBO. Caan most recently finished shooting the crime drama feature One Day as a Lion, which he starred in and wrote.
He is repped by CAA, Linden Entertainment and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern.

I Ching 47 with ChatGPT prompts and Peter Paul Rubens - a review
Background
Tumblr media
Prompt : Obstructed by rocks, grasp at brambles. Entering into his house, he does not see his wife, (No artist or ChatGPT text for comparison. )
A main direction of my Midjourney work is to use indirect prompts to see what Midjourney, and other AI Art programs, will generate. The sources for these prompts are from Chines poems, Japanese Haiku and the I Ching.
The I Ching is about 3000 years old and covers subject important to that society such as farm animals, journeys, rivers and often captives. Series 43 is the 43rd section of the I Ching which has 64 sections each with six statements.
What actual words from the saying that used in the prompt is determined by my arbitrary selection from the result of tests in Midjourney.
The initial series used ad hoc styles for each series . From Section 35 the styles of historical western artist starting with Giotto where used.[Source : Techniques of the Great Masters of Art, Quantum Books]
However the I Ching and the artists actual subject often do not match so the resultant images can be discordant. There is an attempt to create some level of consistency within the series but sometimes Midjourney just creates something different.
Series 45, 46, 47 used prompts taken from custom ChatGPTs specialised in Midjourney.
Summary
Series 47 details
I Ching 47. 困 Kun Obstruction
Artist; Peter Paul Rubens
ChatGPT Prompt Generator By Abbas Hassan
Results
The pictures were adequate. There was a painterly style vaguely like Rubens and the scenes illustrated the prompts. However none of the images really impacted me. See below for discussion.
Next Steps
A seperate comparison of long and short ChatGPT prompts and also with just the I Ching text in Midjourney.
The next series will use style references with the painting from “Techniques of the great masters of art” reference used as the source reference. ( Could try more —s {0, 250, 500, 750, 1000} // stylise )
More artists than section so for future I Ching series will skip many artists to move to the modern artists.
Peter Paul Rubens
Tumblr media
Portrait of Susanna Linden née Fourment (c 1620 - 1625)
Rubens was based in Antwerp in the Spanish Netherlands was a court painter for the rich and famous including royalty. Rubens also work will collaborators such as Bruegel who painted the backgrounds.
The weight of portrait images by Rubens is mitigated by the detailed ChatGPT prompts which set out in great detail what should be included in the image. The prompts do assume the Rubens painted the backgrounds which may not have been the case.
Techniques.
'The I Ching text and the artist where added as a prompt to the Midjourney focus ChapGPT generator and the resultant text was used as a prompt in Midjourney.
Example with MidJourney Prompt Generator By Abbas Hassan Me : Peter Paul Rubens oil painting of, Obstructed by rocks, grasp at brambles. Entering into his house, he does not see his wife
Prompter: In a dramatic reinterpretation of the classical return, a lone figure emerges from the wilderness, marked by the struggle against nature’s barriers. The composition is steeped in the dramatic chiaroscuro and vibrant palette associated with Peter Paul Rubens. The man, adorned in attire that is both regal and torn, represents a blend of nobility and human vulnerability. His body is muscular, a testament to Rubens’ appreciation for the strength and beauty of the human form, yet it is caught in a moment of profound exhaustion and perseverance. The rocks and brambles that obstruct his path are rendered with painstaking detail, each thorn and stone a symbol of the trials faced on the journey back to one’s origins. The house in the background stands as a beacon of hope, its architecture reminiscent of the grandeur of the Flemish Renaissance, yet there’s a haunting absence the figure’s wife is nowhere to be seen, her presence replaced by the silent anticipation of the home itself. The landscape around them is alive with the tumult of nature and the deep, emotional undercurrents of the human experience, all captured in the rich, fluid strokes of oil paint that define Rubens’ legacy –ar 3:2 –v 6.0
These prompts are very extensive on the subject elements and much less so on the style attributes. It can be that very detailed story prompts obscure the style which blends down to a more generic painterly Midjourney style.
This will be examined in future where detailed, simpler and bare Midjourney prompts are compared.
Images
(The full prompts are on http://imaginediching.tumblr.com/ and just too lengthy to be redone here.)
Tumblr media
47.0 Make offering, the divination for the important person is auspicious.
The forest scenes provide a break from the interior temple images which appear when 'offerings' are mentioned. Two Vary (region) passes were need in Midjourney to delete some distorted animals. I was hoping they would be replaced by more realistic ones however they
Tumblr media
47.1 Buttocks obstructed by stumps and trees while entering into a deep and secluded valley.
‘Pair of Buttocks’ was in two of the ChatGPT prompts but not allowed by Midjourney. The phrase was replace by ‘pair of people’ which worked in the context. However the phrase '‘human buttocks are ingeniously camouflaged’ was accepted. The image had a more painterly style than the other in the quad and keeps to the forest theme.
Tumblr media
47.2 A vermillion ceremonial garment with seal arrives from a beneficial direction—is to be used for offering a sacrifice.
Bleaker and more desolate but still outdoors if not really Rubens. The composition was the most appealing in the quad proof sheet. The indistinct faces of the associated figures obscures the problems Midjourney has in painting smaller group faces.
Tumblr media
47 .3 Obstructed by rocks, grasp at brambles. Entering into his house, he does not see his wife,
The outdoor theme continues. The desolation of both the man and the scenery appealed to me. Stylistically of the Rubens' period.
Tumblr media
47.4 Coming, slowly, slowly. Obstructed in his bronze chariot.
All generated images figures in a turbulent sky sitting a a throne or chariot. This image had the benefit of having more background than just clouds. It was a case of picking the best of an average lot.
Tumblr media
47 .5 Cutting off the nose and feet is obstructed by one wearing vermillion
Prompts with phrases such as cutting off the nose' need to be worked around in Midjourney. Moving the prompt through ChatGPT and then to Midjourney alleviates the issue.
The image lacks focus as a painting but we are back in the forest. It looks more like a storyboard image.
Tumblr media
47.6 Obstructed by creeping vines, worried and unsteady
A closeup of a face in the vines continues the outdoor forest theme but with a different subject. The prominence of the face breaks away from the abstracted figures in the previous images in the series. Still not very Rubens.
Conclusion
My process in creating these images for the I Ching is to not dwell too long on the selection. A longer process with more renderings may produce better results but will lead to procrastination.
However with using the detailed ChatGPT prompts there was limited variety which meant a limited selection regardless of the renderings.

Wright Night, Wrong Team, as Komets Prevail Over Nailers
Tumblr media
This weekend was a tale of two nights for the Wheeling Nailers and Fort Wayne Komets, who both came away with one win for their efforts. Unfortunately for Wheeling, Saturday night's contest belonged to the hosts. Cameron Wright led the way with a natural hat trick for the Komets, while Morgan Adams-Moisan netted a pair of goals in a 7-3 win. Justin Addamo, David Jankowski, and Lukas Svejkovsky all scored on the power play in the third period for the Nailers, who take a 2-1-0 record into their home opener next Saturday. After getting blown out by rival Toledo on Friday, the Komets started with some angry energy, and used that to build a 2-0 lead in the first period. The opening tally came with 6:01 remaining. Morgan Adams-Moisan skated onto a pass and wound his way into the left side of the offensive zone. As he reached the circle, he let a wrist shot go, which found a home in the right side of the cage. Fort Wayne added another with 2:07 left. Carl Berglund centered a feed to Cameron Wright, who rolled his backhander from the left side of the crease right along the goal line, and eventually inside of the right post. Wheeling kept the Komets at bay during the first half of the middle frame, but the hosts put two more on the board during the final five minutes. The first strike ended a season-opening run of 13 straight penalty kills by the Nailers, and it came off of a quick passing play. Jack Dugan played the puck to Berglund, who needed less than a second to one-touch a pass to Wright, who drilled in a one-timer from the right side of the slot. Wright completed his natural hat trick 1:48 later, as Ture Linden sent him on a breakaway, which he converted by shelving a shot into the top-right corner. The power play breathed some life into Wheeling in the third, which started with a Justin Addamo goal 28 seconds in, when he tapped a centering feed from Lukas Svejkovsky into the left side of the twine. However, Fort Wayne responded to that with three straight markers, as Adams-Moisan and Alexis D'Aoust scored 1:24 apart, then Darien Kielb connected with a power play wrist shot from the right circle. The Nailers showed heart until the end, and tallied twice in the final four minutes. David Jankowski buried the rebound of Jordan Frasca's one-timer, and Lukas Svejkovsky whizzed in a wrist shot from the high slot, giving the game a 7-3 final. Tyler Parks got the win for the Komets, as he made 28 saves on 31 shots. Taylor Gauthier had a busy night for Wheeling, as he came away with 33 stops on 40 shots. The Nailers will play their home opener on Saturday night at 7:10 against Reading. Opening Night will feature Mad Chad Taylor - the chainsaw juggler, as well as a magnetic schedule giveaway, and the debut of Nail Ale by Big Timber Brewing. Wheeling and Reading will also play on Sunday, November 5th at 4:10, as the Nailers play five straight games at WesBanco Arena. Season memberships and other terrific ticket plans for the 2023-24 season are available now by calling (304) 234-GOAL. The Wheeling Nailers, considered one of the top things to do in Wheeling, West Virginia, provide affordable family entertainment for fans throughout the Ohio Valley. Read the full article
