HERE IS MY UP-TO-DATE P5R CHARACTER RANKING bc i think it will be funny if i post this now and then come back when i am later in the game and see that my opinions were severely bad and wrong. also i am doing phantom thieves only (but know shiho would be second if she were in the ranking)

(DISCLAIMER: you cannot get mad at me for my opinion on people who have not showed up yet okay. i have been avoiding spoilers and i know nothing about them so i just know what has happened IN THE GAME SO FAR. also very long post i went off about some people sorry about that)

1. ANN TAKAMAKI - MY GIRL OF ALL TIME. what can i say, i love myself a silly blonde girl. i think my favorite thing about ann is how she’s portrayed as both strong and emotional - she is consistently shown to be resilient, capable, and tough, but she also deals with her emotions in the same way that a teenage girl in her position would. it makes me happy to see that bc not a lot of characters get that right and i hate seeing emotional girls always being the pathetic ones. also i know she’s not canonically sapphic but she does feel very deliberately sapphic to me if that makes sense. having it be canon would be nice, but in a way, the fact that her and shiho have a very sapphic relationship without it being called that reflects what being young and confused about sexuality is like. it’s very common among teenage lesbians, and i know it probably wasn’t the devs’ intention to accurately portray sexuality confusion, but they did a good job of it on accident regardless. anyways i love and adore ann i am hugging her hugging her hugging her and pressing her lips to shiho's as if they're barbies

2. haru okumura - OKAY LOOK. LOOK. i know she hasn't shown up... i know she hasn't said anything besides that one time i saw her in the hallway and she talked about plants to a random teacher for 10 seconds... I KNOW BUT BUT SHE'S SO SKRUNKLY LOOK AT HER. she is so soft looking so silly looking i want to hug her so much. i am reserving this second place spot for her, if it turns out i don't like her as much as i thought then that's fine but nobody knows Girl Of All Time Vibes better than me and she has them

3. yusuke kitagawa - YUSUKE MY BEST FRIEND YUSUKE. I LOVE AND ADORE HIM SOSOSOSOSOSO MUCH... i honestly didn't expect to like yusuke when he first showed up but as soon as he spoke i was like. oh. Oh This Guy. LIKE HE'S SO SILLY he makes me giggle with how he's just so like. WEIRD. but i genuinely don't see how people find him creepy - the fact that he doesn't have any harmful intentions is very clear and he's just a guy who fumbles every social interaction he's ever in and i want to be his best friend for it I LOVE HIM.

4. ryuji sakamoto - I LOVE RYUJI HE'S SUCH A GUY TO ME i love him being best friends with ann and i love his stupid comments he is so funny fr

5. morgana - EVERYONE'S SO MEAN TO MY SILLY KITTY GUY... usually mascot characters like him are super annoying but i fuckin LOVE morgana he's so funny and adorable. i wanna cuddle him THE KITTY EVER

6. kasumi yoshizawa - she's really cute and sweet! the fact that i don't have anything besides that to say about her is why she isn't higher on the list lol

7. akira kurusu - he's a Guy. i like him as a protag, he has dialogue options that don't make me wanna rip my hair out and he had the emotional intelligence to comfort ann without making me want to be like "YOU'RE FUMBLING THIS FR SHUT UP STOP TALKING LET ME TALK TO HER" so i like him. however he's just a guy that exists to me

8. futaba sakura - she's cute! but being a woman in stem is like. every girl i know irl is Like That so she doesn't feel very blorbo to me when she's just An Average Girl In My Comp Sci Class, yk? i might be more interested in her when i actually come across her tho

9. goro akechi - i don't care about him at all i want what he has tho (knows sae niijima personally)

10. makoto niijima - SORRY SORRYSORRYSORRY SORRY. i know this is anti-feminist of me and considering she's so well-liked i am sure i will change my mind on this based on later stuff in the game. but MAN. her attitude is absolutely rancid in the pre-second palace scenes........ LIKE i'm not even mad at her for selling out the phantom thieves bc i get that she's been blackmailed but she said something to akira about how she "didn't know if ann being a victim of kamoshida was all there was to it" naming ANN SPECIFICALLY and not akira or ryuji and like. GIRL WHAT ARE YOU IMPLYING THERE WHY ARE YOU SINGLING OUT ANN i do not like the implications there they're Yucky!!! you can do what you have to do without being nasty to ann and mean Okay Thanks.

hmm i think she had a lot of potential at the start especially in s1. She was spunky. She had really good rapport with merlin. It felt like she and him could have done a lot of pranks and hijinks.

Then when mergana (the whole shebang) started to happen i thnk they pushed her to become more of arthur's voice of reason as replacement for the spot morgana used to hold.

it's still a little weird how she and arthur got together tbh. Like okay, her views on arthur started to change when he began saving merlin's life i in the cup of life episode. But Idk i wish we could've seen more introspection on her part?

She's not like Merlin and Morgana who had high hopes for Arthur from the very start. Both of them had been working on Arthur from the Bottom and Top. Merlin was peasantry and Morgana was nobility and they both pushed Arthur to be the kinda cool dude he was in S1. And I feel like she got pulled along by MM's efforts to see the good in Arthur. Where does Guinevere fit in all of this? In the middle… I guess because it worked! MM's efforts showed that there was hope in Arthur and Guinevere acknowledged that. Then in s2 when Merlin became more focused in thwarting Morgana in and when Morgana's powers truly awakened and her hate for Uther deepened... Guinevere was what? left to pick up the pieces? I think?

I'm saying this because in s2 both MerMor were already stepping into their destinies, the real "I want to do what's best for Arthur and Camelot." phase. Guinevere was stuck in the weird spot of just being the one who truly cares for Arthur as person.

Now I know this sounds ArWen-positive. but on Gwen's side.

The problem with Arthur tho is that once someone is kind to him he he holds that person on a pedestal and only wants to see that version ever. IDEK why in the span of five seasons, he still has a low opinion on women and girls, he still has this chivalric notions that it's a men's world and girls should just be protected and kept in the dark and that servants should just stay as servants. Moreover his attitude with the women Uther tries to make him marry is abhorrent. He doesn't like the girls who challenge and mirror him too much (like Vivian or Elena from The Changeling). For him his ideal woman is the prim proper perfect loyal- looks good as nobility type. He has this like list of what makes a perfect woman for him and it's so incel-like lol. The moment any of these make a mistake, he casts them away (yes even guinevere). He can make all those "I am doing this for the kingdom" "my love can never be" "what would my father think" excuses but what happened when Guinevere became his queeen and chief adviser? He kept things from her and won't listen to her as his voice of reason. He's honestly frustrating tbh. His ego mixes with his notion of being a "King" and a "Man" and he kept pulling rank at both his Queen and Merlin.

This leads me back to Guinevere just being pulled by the story and cleaning up all the messes ArMerGana leave behind. It's complicated. She's a reflection of whoever was close to her. When she was still close to Morgana, she thought Arthur was a prick. When she was close to Merlin, she almost shared his views of Arthur being the "best thing ever." When MerGana decided that Arthur was an okay dude, guinevere also rode that boat. When Arthur was king and was already like "magic users are all lunatics" Guinevere became like, "yass ur right u have a point." Morgana tortures and brainwashes her and she becomes the latter's ultimate weaopn. Merlin lies to her constantly and she's just "fine whatever you say Merlin teehee but i'm watching you OwO." Arthur abuses Merlin even as King and Guinvere is still like "Aww you two are so cute, but i also think merlin staying as ur servant serving you for eternity is alright."

On one hand ppl can say that she can make her own judgement. Ofc she can. But I wish I saw more? just more. What are her hopes and dreams outside of arthur, merlin, morgana or elyan? Did she want to be a smithy? did she want to be a maidservant forever? did she hope to be a lady in waiting? did she want to become an apprentice of gaius? did she want to be queen? was she not upset that merlin and arthur kept secrets from her? (this was a deleted scene from s5 btw) does she even want a kid? we dont even know that! we know nothing!

She was interesting as Queen, I admit, but bruh it was still like watching Morgana and Arthur on the throne (and lets be real she had been their representative on both times). It's annoying. And this is my point. Guinevere is like... a shapeshifter or chameleon. That's why even now we could never tell what she would be like as queen post-series. WE DON'T KNOW GUINEVERE.

it's like she was whatever the narrative wanted her to be. Maybe that's the point then, that it's her destiny to be the boat that tries to keep itself afloat as the natural disasters called Arthur, Morgana and Merlin swirled and raged around her.

the only light at the end of that tunnel i think was Lancelot. His presence made her actually pursue stuff/hopes/dreams. AND IT SHOWS. They remind me of MerGana in their intense moments in s1-s4. GwenCelot chemistry is electric as hell. THEY WANT EACH OTHER, not for the king or queen or knight that they can become BUT EACH OTHER.

When Merlin and Guinevere weren't too wrapped up in "arthur is actually a good guy deep inside, just trust me on this, give him a chance give him a chance give him a chance" moments, when Merlin and Guinevere PURSUE SOMETHING ELSE, I see honesty, I see something RAW, i can see cracks in the facade forced on them just by merely being in Arthur's presence start to fade and break down.

So yeah. Lancelot had to be killed early coz what would happen to the "King Arthur is the best and hottest sht in the universe" narrative if we had actual Mr. Anime Protagonist Lancelot Du Lac in the show?

GwenCelot needed to happen. I was waiting for it so bad. I was so excited for it. It would have been he perfect foil to ArGwen. It would have added a lot more spice to the show. It would have made Guinevere a more well rounded character with her own hopes and wants instead of the "she's the only braincell holding this group together" character. I want to know Guinevere better, all the good and the bad and not just this impossible perfect angel that the show carved her out to be.

overall thoughts on guinevere? started interesting, ended up boring, gave us nothing.

overall thoughts on gwencelot? yes pls give us the dramatic, encompases beyond all reason courtly romance that arthuriana is known for.

Favorite character: barbara my beloved

Least Favorite character: i feel like it's almost lazy to say steve but... steve.... weirdly he kinda grew on me but he was still used in extremely annoying ways 9/10 times, so if i cared i would make my own lil pocket version of him that is bearable but alas i do not so he is simply... steve..... i'm also not a huge merlin fan.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): stricklake and stricklakerot are rly all i've explored but that reminds me i also wanna look more into barbmura, morgana/gwen, morgana/barbara, and usurna/nomura. honorable 3below mention to zadra/izita and wizards mention to arcane order hell since we're over 5 anyway.

Character I find most attractive: it is SO cowardly of me to say barbara considering the show is also like, monsterfucker central, but... she pretty... and unfortunately a lot of female troll designs kinda suck, and while i love morgana i have issues with her design as well. i do think strickler and angor rot are attractive in theory but i have a very weird sexuality of like, yes i'd love to get railed by them even if it'd kill me, but i don't think i'm "attracted" to them because i'm in a weird zone of being a lesbian but also a monsterfucker and i genuinely do not know how to explain it more than that. so yeah we'll go with barbara bc there is...... idk, something special abt bein into someone kinda plain amidst a world of magical creatures, too? maybe? who knows, thanks for coming 2 my ted talk in this wendy's drive thru

Character I would marry: barbara is going to be my answer for SO much so i'll say nomura for this one because i love the surprise of never knowing if i'm going to get poisoned. usurna is also in that realm.

An unpopular opinion: yeah we're not going there <3 the worst i can probably answer with is that while i hate rott, i also do love the delicious angst of watching barb's reaction to strickler dying (esp doing so right after they got engaged) so i am kinda glad it gave me a glimpse into that just...... i do not want to take that or anything else from that film as canon tho lol. i just like having that in my back pocket for when i want a mental breakdown.

Pairing I am not a fan of: so i don't hate jim and claire but i also don't know why i semi-like them??? i really appreciate a lot of the ways they're portrayed in fanart! esp when toby gets added in. and again i actually don't hate them! i just don't... know why they're together when i actually think about it, and they're also too young for me to rly care to think about that much anyway.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): hmm i mean... rott aside i don't know. i guess "draal should have lived" counts here. also my previously mentioned issues with some troll designs, i just think nomura's in particular could've been way better. oh and i had some issues with morgana's whole narrative but i can't remember them. ultimately i think the writers just didn't go into the actually interesting characters' backstories anywhere near enough.

Character I most identify with: barbara, which is probably mostly projection but like... i vibe with trying to balance work and school and childcare responsibilities even if i will never have it as hard as she had jl;sdjfsldkfj. i also love angor rot because yeah i also relate to continually being at the mercy of people who don't have my best interest at heart and wanting nothing more than to have independence from them but having no means of doing so. there's also def something there with changelings x autistic feels with always having a Mask on and being in survival mode.

Character I wish I could be: omg none of them everyone's lives are all nightmares??? BUT probably barbara because being at the center of a monster harem sounds fun

that other person be wild because there's a difference between kasumi/sumire. i mean yeah no spoilers but it's actually important though. well imma be honest here and explain the kasumi/sumire thing. for persona 5 royal you meet the character kasumi only to realize with in game janurary, that the character you think is kasumi is actually her twin sister sumire. basically sumire and kasumi are identical twins with kasumi being the older sibling (though like kasumi had more browner hair compared to sumire's red hair). there was a car accident in april where kasumi passes away. sumire had always been jealous of her sister so during an argument she runs off without paying attention to where she goes. sumire runs into traffic without knowing but her sister kasumi pushes her away and then dies because of it. sumire blames herself. she loves her sister but hates how kasumi was so perfect. so she like heavily grieves and the therapist is like "oh if you become kasumi, it might make you feel better" or something among those words and then sumire's cognition changes and she essentially thinks she's kasumi. the sumire introduces herself to others as kasumi and even if you call her sumire, she thinks you're calling her kasumi. but yeah she's traumatized.

but yeah where am i going with this, technically kasumi wasn't a phantom thief but sumire. i think to not spoil others, fandom ppl just refer to sumire as sumi (as her sister's name also had sumi in there).

i kinda posted comment on that poll but like atlus did not do a good job at integrating her within the phantom thieves group. she was a good concept but execution of her character was bad in relation to the group. she only really interacts with joker (protagonist guy), kinda morgana but not that much, and akechi who hates the phantom thieves and was trying to kill joker at one point. atlus could've put her more with the other phantom thieves but they chose not to and that was bad writing on their part. and i feel like found family would interact with everyone in the group not just one person.

i think if sumire was in her own separate game like sophia and zenkichi were, it would've been more convincing to have her in the group because sumire only helps them during that one part whereas sophia and zenkichi helped the phantom thieves in multiple times in their spinoff game with helping them get into certain events, post up calling cards, and gather information. sumire didn't do any of that really other than guide them to the third semester thing in royal.

but yeah much drama over who really is in the phantom thieves tbh. if anything you can just put down the main 8 (joker, ryuji, ann, morgana, yusuke, makoto, futaba, haru) and just call it a day because man is it really controversial

I was pretty upset by how they handled Morgana becoming a villain. Morgana was always a compassionate person, who cared about injustice against sorcerers even before she found out that she was one. She just became a one-dimensional villain after she joined Morgause. I understand why she'd hate Merlin, but I feel like nothing else about her change was properly explained.

tbf she was manipulated very heavily by morgause, and we don't really know what went on in that year she was missing from camelot, so she might have more reasons and justifications than the audience knows about. but u make very good points! in s2, even after she allied with morgause, it was so clear it was all from a place of compassion. and i really dont know what could have happened in that One Year she was away that made her say "lmao actually inflicting genocide multiple times is a very good idea." not to compare traumas or anything but she was living in fear for? what? like a year? merlin dealt with that his whole life and he wasnt racing at the opportunity to kill 30k ppl by releasing the dorocha.

tbh i dont even 100% know why she would hate merlin. like, merlin's helped her multiple times and even helped save mordred when he first showed up, why would he suddenly turn against her even if he thought she had magic? i rly wish we saw some critical thinking on her part and see her actually try to get to the bottom of why merlin poisoned her. i feel like so much could have been resolved so quickly if someone was like "btw morgana u were the source of the sleeping spell thats why merlin tried to kill u and anyway he gave u an antidote even tho he could have just as easily Not Done That"

Arthur would do pretty good, but I'd say he have nightmares after. Like he doesn't scream but maybe he does flinch at some point, but in general he's doing really, really good.

Leon would manage pretty well too. Like this man has lived through a shit ton of stuff that I don't even want to think about, much like Arthur, so I'd say he's doing okay. He may be flinching but I could see him falling asleep too, probably depends on the film.

Percival is, against expectation, I think quite scared. He'll definitely flinch, he won't scream, but you can see on his face and in the way he holds himself that he's definitely in a state of shock.

I can't place Gwaine. It's one of those things again where I can't place Gwaine. I could imagine him acing it honestly, like he just straight up vibes with the film and has the most fun ever. But I can see him screaming as well. Like I think he may be a very big fan of horror films but then again he does get scared by them at times. He's screaming but he's having fun, so that's alright.

Lancelot,,, idk. I'm quite sure that he doesn't scream or flinch at all. I don't know if he'd enjoy these types of films but he'd totally be holding his s/o in his arms if they want him to (which would be me I hate horror films you'd have to force me to watch one). He just doesn't really mind. Like he may flinch once during the whole film and it's probably a jumpscare (I'd say Lancelot has fight or flight the most out of all the knights, like his reflexes are the best, and when there's jumpscares he just has the need to move you know).

l don't know shit about Elyan but I think he could sit through unless a child is shown or someone that's drowning. Just, gets old memories back out that he's shoved far, far, far down to the very bottom of his brain.

Morgana would honestly really ace it. like, really. She'd be a bit like Lancelot, holding people in her arms and protecting them, but she'd probably not really flinch. Like she's just sitting there, having fun watching a horror film. She's probably the one who picked it out (or the knights had a competition going on)

Gwen I could see as someone who'd join Gwaine in his screaming, and I do believe she'd flinch a lot. Like if you were to sit behind her she'd come across as really scared, but genuinely she's good. She may be screaming at the scary scenes but apart from that, she's fine.

Merlin. Merlin is something. Idk. I just think he'd be good. Like he's lived through so much, he's seen it all. I don't think he'd flinch at jumpscares either. He'd just sit there and maybe lean back a bit. But I'm convinced that everyone else thought he would be scared as fuck (and he was teased relentlessly for it) so he's one of the people wrapped in someone's arms (probably Lancelot's).

on that note tho, which ones of them would be like us, commenting what they're watching, and who are the people trying to watch in peace and scolding the others?

GLUP SHITTO: oh man. background characters uhhh. Mogami the shujin stalker girl orrrrrrrr Nakanohara. I also greatly enjoy the NPC who sits behind Akira and watches him make lockpicks. I don't really have... big reasons for these? Nakanohara is interesting because I like thinking about what life was like for the students in Madarame's Atelier, but the other two it's more just.... 'I just think they're neat !'

i wanna talk about claire & douxie

so im on episode 4 and just got to the scene where claire uses her shadow magic to create a portal for them to go see the lady of the lake. this scene is claire’s moment of development and i loved it for her. i dont wanna take away from that but i also loved it because of claire and douxie’s bond during it. im sure there will be several other posts about how awesome this was claire bc it really was, so i guess just take this as another perspective on the scene.

before i start i would just like to say: this post is about their strictly platonic relationship. i dont ship them and honestly dont know how i feel about them as a ship in general since douxie is significantly older than them (”college aged”) and i dont really think its right. especially bc on the wiki it says claire is only 15-16 (im guessing 16 since its been A Minute since s1 of trollhunters lol) and in the show douxie canonly says he’s 19-esque. so pls dont go reading this in ya know that kind of lense bc thats not my intention.

alright so now that i’ve got that out the way

from the start douxie has obviously gravitated towards claire because of their shared understanding of magic. when they first drop in camelot, he confides in her the most and whenever she gets upset he takes it strongly, seemingly as a personal hit. like when he tried to talk about the brightside of jim being imprisoned and then claire bursts into tears (bc obviously lol it really wasnt a great situation to be in). but i really wanna talk about the scene in episode 4 when claire starts to become more comfortable with her magic. 

douxie comes up with the plan in the first place because he has full confidence in claire’s abilities. he starts off by talking about how amazing her powers are and that she shouldn’t be afraid of herself. he expresses not one ounce of doubt abt how strong claire is and fully supports her, even when claire refuses to herself. 

seeing morgana die and knowing they share the same magic was an understandably awful thing for claire to witness, and she is obviously traumatized from it as she still has nightmares and visions about morgana’s death. but then douxie, who has complete & utter faith in her, encourages her to use her magic. so she tries just because he asked. claire tho who still feels uncertain asks for his help in return, and douxie is completely shocked by it. i have expressed several times how much i hate merlin and i am NOT afraid to do it again bc i 100% blame his constant degradation for douxie’s low self esteem. 

which also leads me to believe that douxie connects with claire, not only bc of their use of magic but because he also sees himself in her. they both have little confidence in their powers that stem somewhat from their predecessors. douxie vs merlin’s nonstop insults and claire vs morgana’s seemingly inevitable evilness. he sees himself in her because he was her (and still is) and subconsciously, as most of us do, wants to become the support he wish he had. 

but helping those younger than you/who were in your shoes also has a way of making you reflect on yourself too. which is why, even tho he was fully prepared to give claire emotional encouragement, he was blindsided when she asked for his teaching. he wants to help raise claire’s confidence, but has yet to work on his own. 

when the rock.... wall...... thingies.... insult douxie and agree on him being subpar, claire (and archie but this aint about him) immediately fires back at them to cool it. and while douxie didn’t disagree with the rockwallthingies, he clearly appreciated claire standing up for him and smiles about it. her sticking up for him helps give him the boost he needed to teach her what he knows. 

while attempting the portal, douxie gives her constant words of encouragement. and when claire, who is gradually becoming more and more unstable, confesses that she is afraid, his tone changes and becomes softer. he is still confident in her abilities, but also knows how overwhelming they can be and doesn’t hesitate to switch from determined support to warm reassurance. 

things turn for the worse tho when claire ends up giving into her fear and the shadow portal swallows her.

once claire succumbs to her fear and her magic swallows her whole, douxie hyperventilates. i’d even say he was panicking bc this was the one thing neither of them wanted to happen. its both of their fears happening all at once. douxie’s initial fear of being a bad teacher/influence/magic user in general and claire’s fear that her magic will overpower her, both being proven right in the worst way possible. 

what douxie doesnt realize yet is that his teaching didnt fail. while claire is in the shadow realm, she sees morgana’s corpse again and freezes up. but then she pauses as soon as she remembers douxie’s words “dont let fear control you. stay true to yourself.” and with the help of his previous support, she gains the courage to finally face what she’s been afraid of and brings herself back to them. while douxie is terrified that he’s failed claire, it’s actually his words that help her succeed.

once claire comes back, douxie is immediately up and grabs her face to check for injuries. he crowds her so much, archie even has to tell him to relax and give her space. douxie is skilled in magic, but he has no idea what shadow magic and all it entails is actually like, so it isnt unreasonable for his imagination to have run wild with all the dangers claire could’ve been exposed to.

claire rambles about what happened (rambling claire is the most adorable claire) but douxie misreads her curiosity as anxiety and goes to comfort her again. “we understand if you dont want to go back in” its just constant constant support from this guy! (which is funnily enough the exact opposite of what he received from merlin.) he sees her eyes are glued to morgana’s spell book and gently pushes it away. in his mind, what happened in the shadow realm was most likely a bad experience and instead of trying to force her to do it again, he tells her to not feel rushed to go back in. he gets that what he thought was encouragement might’ve actually been pressure and doesn’t hesitate to make sure claire knows that they, and he, will support whatever she wants to do. 

claire quickly tells him that’s not the case and that she’s fine. and whether or not she’s aware of his insecurities yet, she lets him know his influence was actually a great help. 

the positive words surprise douxie and make him smile. once again, claire’s kindness has uplifted his spirits. 

between these two its just a back and forth of nonstop support. douxie helps claire not be afraid of her own magic, and claire helps douxie not fall into self deprecation. as the show goes on i think they will grow to have a very strong sibling-like bond and i cant wait to see it.

A: How did you come up with the title to [insert fic]?

i had a real bad day 2018 and lost my ability to write fanfic or just function in general for awhile. and then i got hyperfixated on merlin and decided to write a 130k epic! exciting! and i was like >:) got my groove back. and then i thought that’d make a good title for the fic, since it’s also sort of about arthur having a real bad day and then landing on his feet anyway. the boy <3

E: If you wrote a sequel to [insert fic], what would it be about?

lol sneaky. for anyone not familiar w/ the fic, it it pre-slash but doesn’t involve any explicit romance bc it was already 130k without it and there just wasn’t Room. and a bunch of people asked for a sequel but i always said that even tho i knew what happened after the end of the story, it wasn’t really worth writing. so here are the things that would have happened in the sequel that i will never write:

arthur and merlin growing apart because of arthur’s duties as king + merlin reluctantly becoming court sorcerer + pressure on arthur to find a queen

the gang goes to find balinor so he can release the dragon safely, and arthur comes along because he misses hanging out with merlin. hunith comes along bc that’s her husband. this is how hunith finds out that merlin is gay. morgana and gwen come along because i like them. this is how arthur finds out that morgana and gwen are gay. this is also how arthur finds out arthur is gay

(like merlin and gwen and arthur are bi. i meant the collective umbrella gay. morgana’s def a lesbian tho)

and then arthur is spending this whole trip grappling with the idea that HELLO YOU CAN BE GAY? THIS EXPLAINS SO MUCH ABOUT THE WAY I HAVE INTERACTED W/ MEN MY ENTIRE LIFE ESPECIALLY MERLIN WOW MY FATHER WOULD NEVER APPROVE NERVOUS LAUGHTER TIME TO NEVER THINK ABOUT THAT AGAIN

except at some point during the trip merlin makes a move on arthur and is firmly rejected bc arthur is repressed and thinks he needs to find a queen. arthurs arc in this would be about getting free of his father’s ghost/shadow, so to speak. unrepressing. unclenching

joyful father/son reunion between balinor and merlin but when they get back to camelot uther finally dies of old age or his crazy or whatever (or maybe he died while they were gone for extra ouch)

so merlin’s like living it up cause he finally has TWO PARENTS and arthur has NONE so he decides that actually he hates balinor and doesn’t trust him, especially not to free the dragon

merlin and arthur fight! this story has no overall Plot Arc aside from the dragon but they would fight about the Plot as a stand-in for actually fighting about parents and THAT’S a stand-in for actually fighting about romantic intentions. maybe merlin is jealous of whoever arthur’s new servant is lol

shit hits the fan re: the Plot. if we’re using the dragon, maybe someone tells him arthur has decided not to free him because of his weird misplaced hate-on for merlin’s dad, and then somehow he gets free another way and tries to trash camelot anyway?? i really don’t know, i’m making this up on the fly

however i am also a grade-a certified FREAK about the episode where arthur brings back uther’s ghost so i could also vibe with the shit hitting the fan somehow involving a ghost summoning

anyway, merlin almost dies saving arthur and/or camelot. and he’s in a coma or whatever. and arthur realizes that actually life IS short and finite actually and he can’t just find a queen bc his dad so if he wants merlin to blow his back out then by god he should be selfish for once. and he says this big beautiful speech like full maleficent except instead of mother/daughter vibes it’s romantic

maybe it literally is like a sleeping beauty coma actually that would fuck. and so then ofc the thing arthur has to do to wake merlin is kiss him - a physical action representing that he’s gonna be less repressed now

and then merlin and arthur save camelot together and they kiss and live happily ever after. the end.

so this was just done off the top of my head in like 20 minutes but as you can see mainly the purpose of a sequel would be to involve the three big things i didn’t have room for in the original 1. releasing the dragon + finding balinor 2. merlin/arthur romance + YOU CAN BE GAY?? and 3. arthur grieving his father’s passing. (this last one was why i was DETERMINED that uther should live and not die in the original, no matter how difficult that would be to pull off believably - there just wasn’t room for such enormous and complicated grief when arthur already had so many enormous and complicated emotional beats to hit realizing magic isn’t evil and that his father is a genocidial maniac and he is complicit in that genocide.) the fic was already 130k, if i had included those things we would have hit 200k for sure and also trying to do that much at once would have been so messy we would have for SURE lost the plot, so to speak

this is actually the most i have ever thought about what happens after the end of that fic LOL like i really didn’t have a clear start-middle-end before this. so now that i theoretically have an outline i COULD write it, but i won’t bc i’m kind of over merlin. sorry. like never say never but i don’t see myself coming back. but now you know what happens at least! i hope that makes the people who wanted to see a sequel feel better and not worse <3

there was some artwork from someone on tublr..where they pointed out that he doesnt really talk outside the metaverse so--hes hyperverbal as joker and just near nonverbal as akiren

he stims ALL THE TIME. that phone thing, the pencil thing, the little tappy tap of his foot, pulling at his bangs when hes embarrassed/smug. someone get him a fidget spinner. he’ll prob learn to do tricks with it

he probably sucks at focusing in class, like i know its just the game design but hes always surprised out of his daily “star out the window at the nearby office building” when his teachers ask him questions

mona mentions when the pt is at Wilton for the first time (after they run into shido) that joker eats like shit, and that could have multiple causes at the start of the story of course, but when i first played i thought that joker was a picky eater and that the variety (and amount of food) at the buffet would be an Ordeal...

he Yearns to hold his friends hands, but he shies away from a lot of touch (excepting yosuke, teddie, and nanako)

Cooking and Cleaning makes the world better. he and joker vibe together with this

unlike akiren, he strong arms any executive dysfunction into Be Productive or Else. his punishment is feeling the pure anxiety of having to make up for ‘lost time’. (another symptom of his workaholic parents)

writes everything down, notes are very neat, has pages dedicated for bad doodles when hes not feeling his usual Super Classroom Focus

Cannot handle secondhand embarrassment (most often caused by yosuke) and will quietly slip away to random cats or origami folding

big personality!! very people-oriented!! koromaru and her are buddies!! when shes having a real bad time, shes very quiet and expressions turn off

bouncey legs, swingin arms, twirlly skirt, little somersaults! when will she stop? never!

very obvious music stims with her hands and arms! people are like “oh there she goes! happy as usual!” shes listening to minatos heavy metal playlist

switches from exhausted to excited within milliseconds. no one can predict, not even her

SEES has to ask her for context all the time cuz she’ll just continue shit from 2 weeks ago without warning

professionals will assume shes very childish bc of how chipper she is, but she is beyond mature for her age and only feels comfortable enough to have serious conversations if a person has proved themself able to handle it

collects every little thing. her room is a mess and she has to get rid of most of it every time she moves :(

he is still nice to people because he doesnt see a reason not to be, but also he has very limited energy so only his senpai and old people get his most polite-kindnesses

cannot describe feelings for the life of him. the team wont know hes injured or sick until hes passed out

everything is too loud, time to drown it out with my loud ass music

rocking and chewing stims, ryoji is the first person to point him out for these subtle stims (not accusingly of course, just general pure curiosity and love for the uniqueness of humanity)

i have only played up to the end of the third palace but i won’t be able to play for a few weeks because my sibling has ABANDONED ME (single tear) and we play together. and i’m bored. so HERES MY REVIEW of all the major characters so far. under read more because i do tend to ramble

why is my silent video game protagonist a catboy. it’s funny to me how much personality he manages to have despite being. yknow. a blank slate to project on. charisma! the dialogue options when you’re talking to shadows that are like “girl power!” live in my mind. joker is a girlboss to me. feminism win

he’s like one of those very excited big dogs where you’re like “oh good for you buddy! oh yeah buddy!” but you’re also just like man this is a bit much. on one hand he’s a very good guy but on the other hand sometimes i feel a very strong urge to insult him or just be mean to him in general, often for no particular reason. i like him i really do he just has that kind of personality. he’s a bro. his pirate thing is funny i know they’re named after like. historical figures/characters in literature(?) but captain kidd sounds so. it’s funny ok. it’s funny. he’d be a backyardagain. i like how he’s a mamas boy that’s cute. sorry about your leg buddy. he’s very. naive isn’t the right word but something like that. i still want to bully him. his grin looks dumb (endeared)

i adore ann she is cute and great and she deserves a lot better get this girl a better costume PLEASE. at the start of the game i was already rooting for her hardcore cause everyone was being terrible to her (very common occurrence that happens to like every character i have noticed. Society) and then she had that thing where she was like “let’s have him continue to live so he can suffer more” and i was like HELL YEAH ann is always saying the truth man. other thieves like “yah it wouldn’t be moral to kill them” (tho they’re cool with the mind control lol 🤔) but ann’s like “idc about that lol i just want him to suffer” SO TRUE. so true. i like her pigtails

ngl before i started playing i kind of already knew that i’d like this guy. i didn’t know much about him other than gay little artist but i knew. i was right. i am incredibly fond of this guy. partially because i too am a weirdo artist with parental issues (his persona awakening had me like *vibrates*) but mostly because he is just so funny. look at this guy! look at his stupid little tail! i lost my mind while doing his first confidant event thing he is GREAT. VERY cool. i just really like him. i could sit there and listen to his long impassioned speeches for a long time

i was a big fairy tail fan in early middle school (unfortunate) and i play in dub so every time she opens her mouth i can only hear lucy/every other dub character her va has voiced cause there’s lots of them. ok first of all i’m not a big fan of her character archetype. yknow the straight laced student council president type. nothing personal just not my thing yknow! i do sympathize with her Issues of being useful and being used by the adults around her ofc but i’m not like INVESTED invested. tbf i haven’t known her too long. what’s his face mafia guy’s palace didn’t feel as personal as the last couple which probably contributes to that (underwhelming). on the other hand i really like that she has a motorcycle i was like ?! QUEEN and then THAT WAS HER CODENme??? very cool of her. i don’t care about her that much but i do think she is cool. if i were to encounter her irl i would be so intimidated

he has not joined the team yet but he obviously will. i have not seen much of him yet but i do have many opinions. i did know he was this games komaeda archetype before playing because of the sheer amount of arguing i can vaguely remember scrolling past about him but even if i didn’t i would’ve instantly been able to tell. he’s fake as hell. i lose it every other sentence whenever he’s on screen WHO IS THIS GUY. “thesis antithesis *pretentious stuff*” “woowwwww you’re so interesting ^-^” “woahh look we happen to have met waiting for the train teehee” (whenever he pops up in those train scenes it feels like a jumpscare) there is a high percentage chance that i will like this guy a lot. there is a precedent for me really liking that sort of character and he is very entertaining. i hope he is just so unhinged. i mean there’s like a 99% chance he’s the ~mysterious guy causing all the accidents~ and also the “heh kid u were betrayed by one of your own” guy. so. he gives me the vibes of one of those really tiny cutesy dogs who are just incredibly aggressive. funny to me how ryuji hates him to an absurd degree like buddy chilll yeah he sucks but wowww. i LOVE that stupid doodle of him on the classroom chalkboard. the anime sparkles. his hair is ugly btw. we met on 6/9 which turns me into a 12 year old. i enjoyed our silly little tv debate

This is an odd question but how do you think you'd interact with the phantom thieves individually?

omg me personally?? WELL i’m really shy so they would have to talk to me first probably lmao but i think the one i would get along best with is haru - she’s so sweet and polite, i think her personality would really put me at ease and i would love to garden with her and try new coffees together! plus we’re similar in many ways - i try to be as nice as i can be and i want to do what i can to help others, shrinking into the background so as not to cause trouble or any kind of scene, but i will always stand up for what i believe in and i can be pushed to the point where i’ll fight back if i have to. i think i would do well with ann too - she’s definitely way more outgoing than me, but she’s so kind and she’s super empathetic, plus i LOVE desserts and shopping, so we could have a lot of fun together dfhdfg morgana is just TOO cute and i would get along with him no matter what tbh...i’ve had pet cats my whole life and i love them, i think i would have an easier time talking to morgana than people. not so sure if he’d like me in return though lol although like i said, i do think i’m similar to haru in many ways, so maybe we actually could get along :o i think i would be...kind of intimidated by someone like ryuji when i first met him, because people that are loud and have no filter can super stress me out (i’m like...bunny levels of fragile like that lol), but since he’s so nice and he really does make an effort to accommodate for people, plus he does apologize for scaring people, i would love to like...play video games with him 🥺 i’m not sporty at all tho...but maybe he could teach me to get into it lol yusuke would so scare me. like completely. he can be super blunt and he’s this artist with a scholarship to a really nice school, i would be totally freaked out by him. THE THING IS...i think of myself as just too boring and too shy, but i think everyone should actually try out thinking about how the thieves would get along with you because this was nice...the fact that pretty much all the thieves are such kind people that they would be friends with you, no matter your flaws, can make you feel a little better about yourself. like i honestly think they’re such good people that they can get along with anyone and i’m nowhere near as bold or as confident as they are, but i think they would be patient with that because they all know not everyone can be. this made me soft even if it is a little silly, so thank u for this kind ask 🥺🥺🥺

For the persona Au, what the basic plot and themes of it and will there be a mascot character that symbolises that main theme?

okay i have a doc of themes that were word vomited out and a rough story, so ill stick it under a keep reading. warning it gets less fleshed out as it goes tho

i also have no idea for a mascot, or any real theme.

Persona au

Molly: as the main character, she is the fool arcana. Dps with a lot of evasion. her persona is goldilocks. codename is bear trap

her persona helps her understand that she is allowed to care about herself, she doesn't have to put on a sweet face

Mollys mask is soft, what she shows to others. Its made entirely of fabric, so its harder to get a grip of to tear off

Giovanni: strength arcana. almost solely because of his strength of heart, but hes mostly a healer/buffer magic wise. his physical moves are fairly strong but his healing is probably the best of all other characters. a funny ui thing that i imagined was him scribbling out the attack names and writing cooler ones that show up on the buttons you select. His persona is fionn mac cool.

Fionn means ‘light haired’ but the exact origins of this name is unknown.

This persona embodies Giovanni’s sense of comradery. Fionn was the leader of the Fianna, a small band of warriors mostly detached from the royal politics of the time.

Sylvie: temperance arcana. he has the most well rounded epithet move wise and hes pretty well rounded in stats too. His persona is Beefton

Its minos themed, but its really just Beefton

Mera: Moon arcana. primarily because reflecting light and junk. the research I have says that moon arcana have a hidden depth to their actions.

Indus: chariot arcana. entirely due to his drive and focus on BARRIERS. his personal goal to protect lady Mera also fits the chariot.

Percy: justice arcana.

Ramsey: hermit arcana.

Zora: sun arcana.

and as for order the party is formed in the hypothetical game... (its not how they meet but the times they join party)

id say that molly first gets pulled into a palace with giovanni (it doesnt really matter who the palace belongs to) and then the two unlock their personas and meet morgana (who i guess would stay the same since nobody else in ee that i know of fits)

then sylvie follows them into the palace the next time, he unlocks his persona whos... basically beefton but hes wearing greecian clothes and the persona name is minotaur

mera and indus actually discover the metaverse independently, but meet the trio when theyre very lost (they just wanted to get out of prision) meras persona is probably gonna be based on kaguya but ill have to check if theres already a persona with that name. indus's is probably some sort of defending hero (wether mera has a palace or not is up in the air)

percy who has been investigating these 'phantom theives' that have apparently stolen two (or more, how many palaces between team members joining is undecided) hearts already. i dont have it figured out how she gets into the metaverse but thats around the time she joins. her persona is likely some god or angel of justice after joining and stealing another heart.

percy introduces ramsey to the group (he most likely doesnt have a palace because hes not really troubled by much other than survivalism.) his persona is definitley a rodent (pied piper came to mind)

finally the final team member is zora! her persona is def a time/sun being of some kind, but i havent hammered out a motivation for joining other than 'people born with power lord it over others and i hate it' buts shes def the loosest canon.

Other possible phantom theives are feenie and trixie, possibly rick shades, yoomtah could be a weird helpful sidekick that doesnt have a persona cause robot. maybe the final boss is the leader of bliss ocean.

zoras persona is eos, greek godess of dawn. eos' symbols are saffron, a cloak, roses, tiara, cicadas, and horses.

the cloak and horse really mesh so im thinking a cloaked woman on a horse (or a cloaked horse lol)
