Throughout Lexie’s intern year, Mark and Lexie have been dancing around their romantic feelings to each other.

… Or so everyone thought.

Derek and Meredith got so fed up in the two that they decided that they would take matters into their own hands.

“Why don’t you just ask her out?”

Mark looks up from his tablet at the nurse’s station. “What?”

“You give her all these looks and won’t even ask her out.”

“She doesn’t feel the same way.”

“I call bullshit. She gives you the same looks.”

“Really?” Mark looks at him, intrigued.

“Yes, so ask her out sometime soon.”

After a few seconds of thinking, “Help me plan the perfect date.”

At the cafeteria, Meredith sees Lexie sitting at a table on her own eating her lunch. She observes her sister for a bit, seeing her smiling very big at her phone, making her wonder what was it that is making her so happy. She swiftly walks to her sister and sits down on the unoccupied chair.

“Uh, hi?” Lexie confusedly looks at Meredith.

“When are you gonna stop ignoring your feelings from Mark?”

After hearing those worlds, Lexie chokes on whatever she was drinking. Caught completely off guard to what her sister just said.

“I do not have feelings for Mark! What made you think that?”

“Oh, yeah? Come on! You give each other these looks that screams that you want to drag each other in an on call room.”

Wide-eyed, Lexie couldn’t even think of what to say.

“Look. I don’t know how to came to that conclusion, but I can assure you I don’t have these feelings that you’re saying I have. I’ve never even thought about him that way.”

“Not even a little bit?”

“Nope!”

“Well, why not? Mark is totally in love with you.”

“Until he says that, I won’t believe him. But if he did I would reject his advances because that would make me unfaithful.”

With that, Lexie walks away.

“Unfaithful?” Meredith asks herself.

It’s now a few days after. The workday was done for Lexie. She was ready to just go home and sleep the night away until she has to come back to work, don’t knowing of a surprise coming her way. Or multiple surprises.

As she’s walking out to the exit of the hospital, she hears quick footsteps behind her.

“Hey, Lexi.”

“Hi, Mark. What’s up?”

“Uh, well, I was just wondering if you have some time after work tomorrow? For some dinner.”

“Like a date?”

“Yes.” He replied confidently.

Not far away, Meredith and Derek are watching the interaction.

“She’s definitely going to say yes.” Derek stated with a smile.

Meredith looks at him sheepishly. “IforgottotellyouthatwhenItalkedtoLexieshesaidthatshewouldturnMarkdownbecauseshedoesn’tseehimanywayromanticatall.” She said very quickly all in one breath.

“Say that agin, but slower.”

“I forgot to tell you that when I talked to Lexie she said that she would turn Mark down because she doesn’t see him any way romantic at all.”

“What?! Why didn’t you tell me.”

“I don’t know! I didn’t believe her, but I should’ve believed her cause she said something about feeling the same way would make her unfaithful.”

“So, she’s in a relationship?”

“I think so.”

“So, Marks gonna get his heart broken?”

“Probably.”

Back with Mark and Lexie, Lexie is speechless while Mark looks hopeful.

“Look, Mark.” She pauses, trying to find the right words. “I am flattered, but I don’t feel anything romantic towards you.”

“What? But Derek said that we look each other the same.”

“Well he was probably seeing things cause I don’t look at you any other way but friendly.”

“Can’t you just give me a chance. Just one date and after you can tell me to stop if you still don’t feel the same.”

“I can’t. Besides…” Lexie looks away, which happens to be over by the door. At that moment she sees someone walk in holding a bouquet of flowers, wearing an army uniform, taking the beret off their head. Lexi becomes wide-eyed, not believing who she’s seeing.

At the same time, the person looks up, meeting Lexie’s eyes. Her eyes light up, holding up the bouquet of flowers. Lexie completely forgets about Mark and runs past him, jumping into the arms of this woman.

“Oh my god! How are you here? I thought I wouldn’t see you until next week?” She said into his neck, arms clinging onto her.

“I lied.” She said, chuckling into her hair. “Wanted to surprise you.”

Meredith and Derek took this time to walk up to Mark who had a confused and hurt expression on her face as Lexie pushed past him, essentially forgetting about their conversation.

“What just happened?” Meredith was the one to break the silence.

“I have no clue.”

“I asked her to give me a chance at on date to see if her mind changes, but she said no.”

“That’s probably the person she’s in a relationship with then.”

“She’s in a relationship and you didn’t tell me?” Mark asked Derek, hurt.

“I didn’t know until a couple minutes ago. Meredith knew, but didn’t believe her.”

“Even if she’s in a relationship, I usually still get the girl.” Derek looks at him with a face that says ‘really.’ “Right… sorry.”

A few more moments of watching the two embrace, Mark clears his throat cause the two to break apart and look at the others.

“Oh, yeah. Come here.” Lexie says, grabbing the woman’s hand, pulling her towards the group. “These are my friends Mark, Derek, and Meredith.”

“Meredith, your sister?”

“That’s the one.”

“Well it’s nice to meet you all.”

“How do you know Lexie?” Marks straightforwardly asks.

“Uh, well we met in high school actually. Sophomore year, specifically.”

“So, been friends ever since.”

“Best friends. She’s actually my ex-girlfriend.”

“You guys dated?” Mark asks, at the same time Lexie says, “You need to stop calling me your ex-girlfriend.”

You look at her with a smirk. “It’s true though.”

“I’m confused.” Derek speaks up.

“She always introduces or calls me her ex-girlfriend whenever we meet new people.”

“I’m still confused.”

“We’re married, but she technically is my ex-girlfriend because now she’s my wife. And that makes us in-laws.” You clarify, looking towards Derek and Meredith.

As the in-laws converse, Mark is stuck in his own head, reeling back to all the times Lexie could’ve reciprocated his same feelings, but now that he really thought about it, she never showed any signs of it.

“Well, we should go. I’m exhausted and I’m sure this one is too.” Lexie said, the whole day of work finally getting to her. “And Mark. I hope you find someone that is right for you.” With that, she grabs your hand and intertwines it with yours, pulling you to her car.

You both walk away, oblivious to the three staring at your retreating figures.

“We all didn’t read the situation correctly, I guess.” Meredith speaks up, still staring at her sister and husband.

“Don’t worry Mark, you’ll find someone.” Derek pats Mark on the shoulder. They both leave him, walking away, holding onto each other.

Mark is still staring at the both of you, seeing you pick Lexie up bridal style, her arms wrapped around your neck, pulling you into a kiss, smiling at each other as you pull away.

Still wishing that Lexie was his to love, Mark is content that she’s happy and loved, even it it’s not with him.

Your story starts at a coffee shop, sounds simple but your interaction really wasn't. You first met Derek a few months before your internship at the hospital. You just moved to Seattle with your cousin Meredith Grey and your meeting with Derek was totally unexpected but you'll never forget it.

Now, as weird or stereotypical it may sound it was love at first sight to Derek. You were there by yourself studying a medical book and Derek just happened to be walking by and saw you in the window.

He literally stopped when he saw you.

He wanted to talk to you so bad but he chickened out at first. In his eyes you were the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. You were right there and he finally worked up the courage to talk to you.

“Why would an amazing woman like you even talk to someone like me? That was the first thing he'd ever said to you and the words that fell from his mouth surprised you both.

The both of you talked into the day. You brought up that you were starting your intern year and he brought up he was a nero attending. Surprisingly you both failed to mention what hospital you were working at.

He was the first person to actually ask what you wanted to do in the medical field. To you it always felt like an unspoken rule that you and Meredith would become general Surgeons, that's not what you wanted and for some reason when he asked that you felt you could trust him.

“I thought about Peds or Truama as my specialty”

He was pretty much smitten by you from the start. He couldn't keep his eyes off of you and for you a guy has never looked at you the way he did. It made you blush and feel things you never felt before.

“why are you looking at me like that?” you asked blushing.

It was like he was something out of a romance book.

Even though it was the best conversation you had in a long time you unfortunately had to leave and meet Meredith some where. Derek wasn't about to let you go just yet so he offered to walk you to where you had to meet Meredith.

Then he asked for your number. It just felt too good to be true when it came to him, so you decided to mess with him a little bit. “you could be a masked murderer for all I know”

He would just chuckle and not take it personally. “there's always that possibility... Come on live a little”

You gave in with a loving heart. You wrote your number and drew a heart on a sticky note then stuck to his chest where his heart was.

Your first date was simple but romantic. You told him you weren't into anything too extravagant, so you went to a nice Italian restaurant and you talked the whole hole time.

You talked about anything and everything. Favorite movies, favorite childhood memories. You talked about why you guys became doctors, but failed to mention you both would be working at Seattle Grace Hospital.

Communication won't be a problem in your relationship. You both just find it so easy to talk to each other.

Later that night you went to your place and watched a movie. You almost kissed, but you made a rule not to kiss on the first date. Derek respected that and didn't have a problem waiting for you.

But you couldn't help it, your first kiss happened on the fourth date. You were at the movies and you couldn't help but lean into each other. The kiss was passionate and sweet. He held you and treated you like you were the only girl in the world.

The way he kisses you makes your heart race. He holds your face in his hands and you honestly feel like you and him are the only things that matter in the world.

He never felt this way with anyone, not even Addison.

You guys were dating for about a month before you started your internship at the hospital. You were suprised when Dr. Bailey asinged you to be on his service, you didn't even know he was an Attending there.

When you saw him you grabbed his sleeve and pulled him into an on-call room. “so you work here?”

He smirked. “yeah and so do you apparently”

Even though your relationship was growing stronger by the minute and it was going at a pace you both were comfortable with, you were worried about the fact you were an intern and he was an Attending.

You explained this, but he wasn't worried he just stared at you like a love sick puppy the whole time you talked. You sighed. “stop looking at me like that”

“like what? Like your the most beautiful woman in the world” he clicked his tough and shrugged with a stupid, adorable smirk. “sorry, I can't just not do that”

So you powered through it and ignored the whispers and honestly it made you two stronger as a couple.

You have an old black Labrador that is your protector and shadow. He didn't like Derek at first. Your dog Duke would stare him down every time he came over to the house, grumble at him and make sure to sleep on Derek's side of the bed, and he will shove his way between you if Derek was hugging you.

“there's this old soul that's just really hates my guts”

After a while Duke dose warm up to him and the two become quite close. If he works the night shift he'll pet Duke before he leaves and tells the dog to take care of you while he's gone. “take care of her buddy”

Your a Peds surgeon, you always look forward to having surgeries with him if the patient needs him.

You steal his ferry boat scrub cap all the time. You'd just get done with a surgery wearing it and when you come out of the OR you'd see Derek leaning against the wall with his arms crossed waiting for you. “I was looking for that... I didn't have it during my surgery”

You'd just shrugged and give him a cute smile. “but I love this one”

He is your biggest supporter. Derek is your absolute number #1 fan, everything you do amazes him. You've never had a man supporting and encouraging you every day and night.

He's big on hand holding too, if your walking around the city your hands will be locked together, or sometimes hell just hold your had if your setting down at a table or something.

This man need physical contact a lot. He's a big cuddler and just needs you in his arms, it's a comfort and a protection thing.

“cuddle me?” he asked, giving you puppy eyes and holding his arms open. You smiled and cuddle up to his chest.

Your always resuring him that your always gonna be by his side. With that I think he's secretary insecure, Addison cheating on him really did a number on him. He trusts you, 100% but deep down he has this fear you'd find someone better.

You always tell him he's the only one for you and you love him “your so Handsome, have I ever told you that?”

“Yes dear, so many times” he smiled.

He leaves post-it notes all around the house for you. You find them everywhere. In your bag, the book your reading at the time. On top of your favourite cup. Stuck onto the mirror in the bathroom, if he has to get up and go to the hospital late into the night heal leave one on his pillow. He loves those little details. Loves to write you silly or romantic notes because he knows how much you love them.

Your Favorite one he ever wrote was, 'If I were to kiss you and then go to hell I would, so then I can brag with the devils I saw heaven without even entering it.'

You've kept every single note he's writin you.

He's so flirty with you. No matter how many years you've been together, he still thinks you're the sexiest, most beautiful thing he's ever seen.

He'll learn quickly your a book warm. Sometimes if your reading and not giving him any attention he'll wedge his way between you and the book, resting his head on your chest.

Like I said, he flirts with you so much. Some times he'll come up behind you while your working and whispere suggestive comment in your ear or grab your ass.

Watching old Universal monster movies together and the show The Munsters.

If it's a smut book you get really secretive about and he'll notice quickly. “What you reading?” you blush and hold the book away from him. “nothing”

If he gets a hold of the book and reads a steamy part if the book he'd want to try everything he read with you.

Your hospital 'nickname' would probably be bookworm, but then after you and derek get married it'll be Lady Shepherd. Mark will tease you sometimes and call you McWife.

Speaking of which you and Mark become pretty good friends surprisingly. It'll scare Derek at first and in the back of his mind he'll have this fear of Mark sleeping with you.

“I'm not gonna lie she's beautiful... But I promise I won't do that to you ever again” Mark said to Derek.

Even if you're good friends with Mark he's not your person. Callie is your person and later on you become close to April and kinda become her guard dog.

When you fight you both always feel guilty. It hurts Derek seeing you so said. What makes it worse for him is when he's the reason for your pain. He's always the first to apologize. He hold you from behind, whispering he's sorry over and over.

YET ANOTHER long and obnoxious stream of my thoughts while watching grey’s anatomy for the first time (season 14 because i’m still hanging on by a thread)

-why did megan hunt have a fresh coat of mascara and some lip gloss on when she got flown in with her gaping abdominal wound LMAO

-teddy!!!!!

-i absolutely think they should tell megan about meredith and riggs and let her make an informed decision on whether she wants meredith to be her surgeon. this is greys anatomy, of course there’s gonna be a conflict of interest. they’re making this more complicated than it needs to be.

-somebody tell me when the show stops being worth watching. so far i’m hanging on bc i’m mildly interested in how jo and alex turn out, i want teddy and amelia to interact, and i’ve warmed up to arizona since she broke up with callie. obvi i love meredith i just don’t know how much more they can do with her before i just want her to take a warm bath and retire to somewhere far far away with her children.

Ooh for your ask game, I would love to know more about your Grey's Anatomy fic!

Oh, I actually mentioned this to you before.

Season 19 introduced a new group of interns, including Lucas Adams (middle name Shepherd). He's played by Niko Terho who is half Finnish with a very Finnish name. Lucas is also half Bajan (from Barbados) like his actor and I think that's cool. He also realises that he has ADHD towards the end of s19.

I really like his character and since he's related to like half the hospital, I want to write about his familial relationships. I have the basic idea/outline for the chapters with Meredith and Addison (who I love, I have all of Private Practice).

The issue is the show didn't reveal in s19 who exactly his mother is and I'm not sure if s20 did either (I'm not watching at American pace and the strikes made the season much shorter than usual). I feel it's pretty crucial to know who exactly his mother is so I can make proper sense of his relationships with his aunts. Meredith is probably doable since she barely interacted with Derek's sisters but Addison would have had a particular relationship with his mother. I can fudge it based on the little canon we have re: Lucas & Addison but I like to be thorough and sure.

Also the writers did some weird things early on with his storyline with Amelia that's going to be annoying to deal with.

I am doing a rewatch of s19 and maybe then I'll move on to s20 and actually write this. I'm not married to the title but that line revealed his Shepherdness to those in the know in 19x1.

Hi! Can I request a Steve Harrington x reader fic based on “The King” by Conan Gray?

I've never listened to this before so bare with me, I think I did okay :) The POV of the actual song is extremely confusing from a lyrical standpoint, imma email Conan and ask questions lmao.

I stare at him with conviction and annoyance, my eyes flickering over his sad expression as he reaches up to rub his eyes with his fists. He looks broken and I can only assume the damage to his ego and heart was inflicted by the one and only Nancy Wheeler.

"Steve, it's almost three in the morning." I whisper, leaning against the crack in the door as I watch him sigh, nodding. With a huff, I pull the door open, letting him step quietly into my house, brushing against me as he pulls off his jacket.

"I would've called but I was out at the stupid Halloween party and your house was closer than mine." He explains, my head bobbing in a disappointed nod, knowing that this interaction could possibly dig the knife further into my aching heart, tired of helping him put himself back together for him just to run right back to the same disappointing people. "You just are the only one who understands- the only one who listens. I just need to talk to you o-or if you don't wanna talk, just let me crash on your floor." I let out as a sigh as he follows me up the stairs, my silence only making him more anxious as I feel the weight of his eyes on me. "Why are you so quiet?" He asks anxiously, sitting down at the edge of my bed as I plop down into my beanbag chair across the room.

"Did Nancy do something? Is that what this is about?" I ask suddenly, catching him off guard as he toys with his fingers in his lap, his eyes dipping nervously to the floor.

"Why do you sound mad?" His voice makes my heart crack, the utter broken tone makes me want to just wrap my arms around him and never let him go but I have to put my foot down at some point.

"I'm just tired of repairing what she breaks." I mutter, eyes fluttering shut as my head hits my wall. "Let me guess, she got super fucking drunk and broke your heart into a million pieces." A few minutes of silence goes by as I listen to him sniffle, his back hitting my mattress as the boxspring squeaks.

"She told me that she wasn't in love with me and that our relationship was bullshit- that I'm bullshit." Fuck, that's brutal. His fingers grip his hair as his shirt rides up a bit, my eyes drifting away from him as my cheeks warm.

"Ouch." I huff, making my way to my feet as I step towards the bed, catching his attention as he looks down at me desperately.

"I just don't know what to do- what do I do?" He pleads, brows furrowed sweetly, his whole frame just terrorized over this girl- a girl who doesn't deserve a second more of his time.

"Steve, you don't want my opinion because you won't take it." I could never tell him that he should just leave her and never look back, that he would be better off, because he's so desperately trying to cling to his first love- to fix things. Maybe it's because his parents never fixed their relationship, who knows. But in the time he's been spending trying to make his relationship last, he's getting hurt and Nancy's only growing more disinterested by the day.

"W-What do you mean?" He stutters, looking up at me as I slide down onto the bed beside him, clasping my hands in my lap.

"You'll always go back to her no matter how many times she lets you down." My eyes flicker back and forth between his as they tear up, a silent tear sliding down his temple and I reach over to gently brush it away. "You need to move on, Stevie." He smiles sadly at the nickname, his eyes closing as his cheek hits the mattress.

"To who?" He whispers, voice cracking and I frown, my eyes fluttering shut in frustration. What is it that Meredith Grey says in Greys Anatomy?

Pick me, choose me, love me.

"Someone who can actually tell you how much they love and adore you." He nods with a shrug, reaching up to cover his face with his hands, his shoulders shaking in quiet sobs.

"It just doesn't seem realistic." He mumbles against his hands, my hand immediately reaching out to rest on his shoulder, forcing him to look up at me as my lips curl up into a comforting smile.

"Well," I pause, blowing out a breath as he waits, "I love and adore you. That's pretty realistic." He laughs tearily, my stomach dropping and I realize he thinks I'm just making a point but in reality, it was a confession. A confession I've held onto for years. "Yet, you do to me what Nancy does to you." His brows pull tightly together as his lips part in shock, his whole body to moving to sit up and scoot closer to me. "She strings you along, and you come here to string me along, then you always go back to her like I go back to you when she's fucked up royally." His face falls in a confused, pained expression, hands reaching out to take my hands in his but I just brush him off, watching him crumble in front of me, his head falling back into his hands.

"Y/n-"

"You have been pining over her for a long time and I've watched you. I've watched and been here forever, Steve. For some reason, you can't seem to realize that or notice me because you're caught up on someone who has blatantly told you that she doesn't love you." He nods against his hands, sniffling loudly as a few moments go by, his eyes eventually finding mine once more, desperate and sad.

"You've been here." He croaks with a knowing smile, clearing his throat as I let out a small scoff. It's as if something finally clicked in his head, his eyes flickering over my expression in a new light. His shoulders droop a bit as he laughs under his breath and I can see that he's mentally face palming right now.

"I'm here right now." Taking a leap, my hands reach out to do what he tried to do so desperately only moments ago, taking his hands in mine and he gives them a simple squeeze. "But I'm not a rebound-"

"You're not. I know." He cuts me off almost immediately with a nod, his voice reassuring and he sighs, squeezing his eyes shut tightly as he sighs. "I need to break it off with Nance and I need to give myself time." A proud smile spreads across my lips and I take a deep breath in, happy that he just suddenly gets it, his face relaxing a bit. I reach up to brush his tears from his cheeks, his whole body moving to lean into my touch.

"And I'll be here through that too." I promise, his eyes teary as he looks for any sign of insincerity in my expression and when he finds nothing but familiar comfort, he smiles.

"Yeah?"

"I'll always be here." My arms wrap around his shoulders as he pulls me flush against him, his face tucking in the crook of my neck and my fingers brush through his hair.

"Waiting for me?"

"Always."
