❝ you passed out, i carried you here. ❞ — vanessa @hazardess , but she’s bitter about it
FEVERISH  MUTTERING  HAD  HAUNTED  HIM  ALL NIGHT,  ALL DAY,  AND  THE  LAST  MEMORY  HE  HAS  IS  LEAVING  THE  PIZZERIA,  still  shivering  uncontrollably  in  the  heat  of  the  sticky  summer  sun.  Head  aching,  angrily  waving  off  his  daughter’s  questions:  I’m  fine,  he  remembers  snapping,  more  of  a  groan  than  anything  else,  I  just  need  air.  Don’t  you  even think about. . .
The  rest  is  a  sliding,  slippery  blur.  Despite  everything  he’s  done  and  the  lengths  he’s  gone  to,  it  seems  he’s  still  just  as  human  as  ever.
That’s  the  really  terrifying  part.
He  can  barely  even  face  lifting  his  head  from  the  makeshift  pillow  Vanessa  has  propped  under  him,  the  whole  world  tilting  precariously  on  an  axis  of  its  own  bearing.  But  he  does:  persists  in  rising,  his  pale  face  ghostly  and  off - color.  Even  trying  to  keep  his  daughter  in  focus  hurts.  She  blurs  in  front  of  him,  fades  in  and  out  between  the  little  girl  he’d  initially  doted  on  and  the  young  woman  he  knows  logically  that  she  is.  Is  this  his  fever - addled  brain  trying  to  offer  him  a  reprieve  from  the  disappointment  he  feels  his  daughter  has  become ?  –  Clumsily  reaches  out  for  her,  words  heavy  and  absent.
“ ‘S  a  good  girl,  Ness.  Always  so  helpful. ”  Her  father’s  right  hand  man,  through  and  through.  Remembers  getting  her  to  hold  his  tools  as  he’d  painstakingly  built  that  old  Spring - Bonnie  suit,  his  pride  and  joy;  remembers  more  recently  handing  her  his  knife  to  wash.  Clean  that  up  for  me.  We’ve  done  well  today.  Both  killers.  Nobody  suspects  him,  of  course  they  don’t.  Confident  words  and  faux  charming  smile  keeping  him  out  of  public  scrutiny,  the  loss  of  his  own  son  only  years  before  at  the  hands  of  his  daughter.
He  smiles  that  same  smile  now,  but  it’s  pathetic.  Laden  with  the  sudden  realization  he  feels  helpless  for  the  first  time  in  a  long  time.  If  she’d  wanted  to  kill  him,  she  could  have.  Ended  it  all.  He  wouldn’t  have  even  known.  Maybe  that’s  why  he  addresses  her  now,  in  an  exhausted  facsimile  of  love  he’d  once  shown  her  as  a  young  child.  “ Help  me  stand.  [...]  How  long ‘s  it  been ? ”   How  long  has  he  been  lying  there,  human,  vulnerable ?  How  long  has  she  been  watching  over  him;  how  long  has  she  served  her  duty  to  him  loyally  today ?

get down on your knees and tell me you love me | javier peña
Take The Weight Off His Shoulders - Chapter Six
Tumblr media
Chapter Summary | There is something about Javier Peña that makes you bold, makes you want to prove to him that you're a woman, not the girl he used to know, and how better to prove in than getting down on your knees for him?
Chapter Warnings | A pretty tame one, all things considered. Public-ish oral sex (M), Javi talking you through sucking him off, inexperienced reader, cum eating, no use of y/n and some advancement of the plot.
Pairing | dbf!Javier Peña x F!Reader
Word Count | 3K
Authors Note | LET ME TELL YOU. THIS CHAPTER HAS BEEN LIVING RENT FREE IN MY MIND SINCE THE CONCEPTION OF THE FIC. I hope you love it just as much as I do and that you're still enjoying the sprinkling of plot that comes along with it. If you're enjoying this then reblogs and comments really do help and if you’d like to support me further, please consider a donation to my Ko-Fi.

It’s Friday night and the bar is busy. You and Liv were lucky to get a table. It’s loud, full of patrons trying shouting orders at the bar, the smell of fried food wafting through the air, as well as the sound of disagreements at the jukebox over what song someone will play next, but its your happy place, always has been, especially when you’ve got a birds eye view straight across to Javier Peña, sat sipping beer with your dad.
“Are you going to look at me at all tonight?” Liv asks, mouth full of the fries she’d ordered for you both.
“Sorry,” You mumble, dragging your eyes away from Javi, who seems to be having a similarly hard time tearing his from you, “What were you saying?”
“I was trying to tell you,” She starts, picking up another fry to stuff into her mouth, “That I remembered something about that party.”
“What party?” You ask, picking up your own fry, biting half of it off into your mouth, dipping the other half into the pile of ketchup on the side of the plate.
“You remember calling me from work earlier in the week?” She asks, “The party at the house that got busted?” She smiles when there’s a flicker of recognition on your face, “Well, I remember that it was Vanessa that invited us, so,” She picks up another fry, “You’ll be so proud of me for this, I did some digging,” She looks pleased as punch, which makes you chuckle, “I spoke to her, and she said it was Tyler who hosted the party.”
“Tyler?” You ask, “As in, Tyler Johnson?”
“The one and only.”
You pick up another fry, the pile dwindling in front of you slowly. Tyler Johnson. Oldest son of Richard Johnson. Long-standing mayor of Laredo. His family had been in power in town for as long as anyone could remember. Tyler, raised to follow in his father’s footsteps had faltered, opting, much to the chagrin of his family, to choose to say no to college. As far as you knew, he didn’t really see much of his family, worked at the local manufacturing company and spent most of his free time hanging around outside of bars trying to chat women up. His younger brother, Garrett, having taken up the banner, currently deep into his bid to become the youngest mayor Laredo had ever seen.
“Why the hell was he doing hosting a party in an abandoned house?”
“I don’t know,” Liv shrugs, taking the last fry off the plate, “That’s for you to find out, isn’t it?”
Unable to argue with her logic, you shrug, “You think he’s the kinda guy to get involved in that kind of shit?”
It’s confusing to you, because although he’s the perfect candidate for it, estranged family, always in the shadow of his younger brother, anytime you’d come across him, he’d seemed pretty straight-laced to you. Sure, he’d been drunk a few times, but never seemed like the kind of guy to take drugs, let alone be hoarding it in a house he didn’t even own. But then, Dylan hadn’t seemed to be the guy to take enough drugs to die of an overdose, so you suppose anything could be true in this case.
“The deadbeat son, disappointment to his family, who has never amounted to anything?” Liv chuckles, “Yeah, seems the type to me.”
Something doesn’t particularly seem to settle right about this for you, but that’s for next week. You shake your head a little, letting your eyes drift back over Liv’s shoulder to where Javi is sitting, looking straight back at you. When you meet his eyes, he throws a wink your way.
“What on earth are you staring at?!” Liv squeals, turning around to follow your eye line, finding Javi right there, “Oh.”
She turns back around to you, and you had wanted to try and keep it at least a little cool, but the wink he’s given you, paired with the smirk on his mouth, as heat flushing across your face, your bottom lip sucked between your bottom teeth, and your eyes on the grain of the table under your arms.
“Girl!” Liv reaches over, slapping your arm gently, “Have you fucked him?!”
“No!” You exclaimed, “Keep your voice down for crying out loud.”
“You’ve done something though, haven’t you?” She prods, smirk on her face, “I’m right aren’t I?”
Closing your eyes, you can’t help but smile, looking up at her as sheepishly as possible. Javi’s words ring in your ears, probably best we don’t tell anyone about this, but technically if she guesses, you haven’t told anyone.
“Shut up.” Is all you say, but there’s heat flushing all over you and a smile you can’t hide on your mouth.
“You lucky bitch!” She’s smiling so wide, squeezing at your arm, “Is he any good?”
Rolling your eyes, you sigh, shaking your head, “I don’t kiss and tell,” You sigh, chin resting on your palm as you look over the bar at him, currently locked in conversation with your dad about something, he looks so fucking good in his plaid shirt, arms rolled up to his elbows, “God, he’s so good looking, wish I could have five minutes with him.” You muse out loud.
Your eyes flit back to Liv, who has a devilish look on her face, “Say no more,” She smirks, “You want another beer? Perhaps you need the bathroom?”
You twig almost immediately, as she stands up, chair scraping, pulling the attention of people around who are looking at what the noise was. Shooting your eyes over to Javi, you note that your dad has already figured the noise was nothing, he’s gone back to talking to the side of Javi’s face that’s given to him, as he looks directly at you. You tilt your head toward the door, give him a smile and start walking towards it, as Liv makes a beeline to the bar.
You’ve not made it halfway down the hall when you feel a hand circling your wrist. Turning to the side, Javi is there at your side.
“I want to kiss you so badly.” He speaks softly, but even you know that there are too many eyes here.
You make it to the end of the hallway, faced with a choice, you push on the handle for the single disabled stall, finding it open, you pull Javi into it, closing the door, enjoying the ‘snick’ of the lock closing too.
“Now you can.” You smile, pressing your back up against the door.
Javi is pressed against you in no time, palms warm on your cheeks as he leans down, mouth slanting over yours, soft and warm, pulling away from you before you have the chance to wrap a hand around the back of his neck and deepen it by opening your mouth against his.
You’ve got a corner of your bottom lip sucked between your teeth, eyes looking up at him through lashes as his hand rests on your waist, “Javi?”
“Hmm?” He muses, eyes trailing up and down your front, stalling slightly where your shirt reveals your cleavage, before his brown orbs meet your own eyes.
“I think I want to suck your cock.”
His face is a picture you wish you could keep forever, eyes wide, mouth hanging open, shock written over every inch of him. His hand on your waist grips tightly, like he can’t believe what you’ve just said.
“Baby,” He coos, “We don’t have time.”
“You underestimate Liv’s ability to talk to my dad about utter nonsense.”
“What happened to keeping a secret?” He asks, eyebrow cocked, “Thought you were a good girl.”
“Technically I didn’t tell her,” You shrug, hands trailing up his chest to rest on his shoulders, “She guessed.”
“You really want to suck my cock in a bar bathroom?” He asks, leaning forward a little, his mouth just centimetres from your own, “Definitely not the good girl you make out to be, are you?”
“I just want to return the favour.” You shrug, memory flashing to earlier this week when he had you pinned against a brick wall with his hands down your trousers.
“Okay baby,” He relents, stepping back a little to turn you both, his back now against the door, “But we have to be quick.”
His palms press gently into your shoulders, watching with darkened eyes as you sink to your knees in front of him. Your hands rest on his belt as anxiety spreads through your stomach. Javi notices your pause, his hands holding onto your own at his waistband, “If you don’t want to, you don’t have to.” He insists.
You shake your head, “No, I want to,” You respond, “I’ve just-” You trail off, lip back between your teeth, “Never done this before.”
Javi sucks in a deep breath, looking down at you at you. He cups your cheek, thumb rubbing across the skin underneath it, “God damn it baby,” He sighs, almost pained, “You can’t say stuff like that and then look at me with those eyes.”
It’s performative but you flutter your eyelashes at him, a small smile across your mouth, “Will you teach me?”
He closes his eyes, taking in a deep breath, but then his hands are moving to his belt, undoing it in front of your face. You can already see that he’s half-hard behind his jeans. Javi undoes the button and pulls down the zipper, and then motions with his head for you to do the rest.
Hooking your fingers into the waistband of his underwear, you shuffle back a little, pull them down his thighs. You can’t help but gasp when you pull them down enough to fry his cock, watching it bounce slightly in your face. He’s big. Almost like he can sense your trepidation, Javi is reaching down, squeezing your wrists in comfort.
“It’s okay, cariño,” He coos, “We’ll take it easy this time.”
He drags his hand down to grip at one of your hands, moving it to get you to grip onto the base of his cock with your fist.
“Move your hand up and down a little first,” He instructs, moving your hand with his own, “Just like that.”
Then he’s taking his hand away, letting you handle this on your own. You look up at him from your knees, smiling a little to yourself when he tips his head back slightly against the door, hips bucking gently into the movement of your hand.
Almost like he remembers he’s meant to be teaching you what to do, Javi looks down at you, his hand trailing to rest at the back of your head, “Open your mouth,” He says softly, batting your hand away from his cock, gripping it himself to guide it towards your open mouth, “Use your tongue a little,” He instructs, “Just on the tip for now.”
His voice is low and gravelly, which makes your pussy clench a little. You shift on your knees, trying to get some friction to relieve the ache you’re feeling, as you do as he says, using your tongue to lave attention to the tip of his cock, swirling it around but also stopping every now and again to give small kitten licks to the tip, preening to yourself when he lets out a low groan.
“Think you can take more, cariño?” Javi groans, hand clutching your chin so you’re looking at him, “Just wrap your lips around me and take me in as far as you can.”
You do as you’re told, sealing your lips around the head of his cock, flattening your tongue along the underside of him, before moving your mouth down as far as you can before he’s brushing against the back of your throat.
“That’s it,” He praises, “Good girl.”
The praise makes you swoon as you move your lips back to the tip and then back down again, looking up at him through your lashes, finding his head tipped back against the door, his chest heaving with heavy breathes, his mouth open, with a whispered ‘fuck’ breathed out as you move your mouth up and down a little faster.
“You’re doing so good for me,” His tone is heavy, lust-filled, and just like before, the praise goes right to your cunt, “Use your hand on the bit your mouth doesn’t reach.”
So you do, circle your hand around the base of his cock, pumping your hand up as your mouth moves down. Javi is more vocal, his hand on the back of your head, gently guiding your head to the movements he likes.
“So fucking good,” He breathes out above you, bucking his hips into you as you move down his length, “Gonna make me come, querida,” He warns, which only makes you double the efforts of your mouth on him, “Where do you want it?”
You pull of him now, still pumping his length with your hand as you look up at him through your lashes, “Where do you want it?” You ask, innocent as the day you were born.
“I don’t think you want what I want.” He says simply, breath panting as he thrusts into your palm.
“Try me, Peña.”
“Jesus, girl,” He chuckles a little, “Where’s that innocent, little thing gone?”
“I think I left her in an alley somewhere in town.”
He sucks in a breath, baring his teeth a little as he works as hard as he can to keep it together, towering above you.
“You want me to come in your mouth, huh?” The hand on the back of your head is now cradling your cheek, “That what you want?”
Instead of answering, all you do is stick your tongue out for him, guiding him back to rest on your tongue. You don’t do anything else though, just look up at him, waiting for him to give you what you want.
He does exactly what you want him to. Taking himself in his fist, he moves his hand up and down his length, furiously tugging himself until he’s moaning, head thrown back, with his cum aimed right onto your tongue, giving you every last drop. He looks down at you, pulling himself from your mouth. It’s a taste you’re not used to, musky, masculine and you’re sure distinctly Javi, but it’s not necessarily unpleasant, so you close your mouth and swallow everything he gave you whilst looking him dead in the eye.
You’re both breathing heavily, looking at each other until you start giggling, which sets Javi off chuckling as he helps you from the floor once he’s put himself right.
“Did you really leave your friend to entertain your dad so you could suck my dick in a public bathroom?” He asks, palm on the small of your back pressing you into his front, leaning down so his lips are close enough to your lips that you can feel the heat of his breath on your skin.
“I think I did, yeah.” You chuckle breathlessly, letting him press his mouth to yours.
“Think you better go back in there and save her,” He says against your mouth, “But call me later, and I’ll help you with this.” His hand dragging down your front to cup your pussy through your shorts, where he knows you’ll be soaked.
“I’m counting on it.”
You don’t really think about leaving at different times until you spot Liv sitting in Javi’s old stool, talking to your dad.
“Well, there they are!” His voice booms when you get close enough to the table, “Where the hell have you been?”
Sucking your friends cock in the bathroom, dad. Is what you think.
“Oh, I was just asking Javi about something for work.” Is what you actually say.
“Well, it was lovely to catch up!” Liv says to your dad, slipping off the stool for Javi to sit back on, “But we’ve got very important girl gossip to catch up on.
Then she’s dragging you away, back to your table, where you spend the rest of the night talking, eyes drifting over to Javi, his own meeting yours when he can.
Yeah. You’re fucked.

Monday afternoon comes in a flurry, your boss poking her head from around her office door, catching your attention as she motions for you to come in and meet her. You swallow, a little nervous, because the piece you promised her would be done, is now blown wide open with the addition of Tyler Johnson hosting a party in a drug den. Picking up your notepad and pen, you resign yourself to a telling off for being slow as you settle into one of the chairs in her office.
“How’s the piece coming along?” She asks, making you swallow a little.
“Well,” You start, deciding to be honest, “It’s done with the information we have.”
“But?” She says, lifting an eyebrow up.
“I think there might be more to it,” You shrug, “I’ve been making some enquiries and I think I might be able to go deeper with it, if you’ll let me.”
She thinks for a moment, “Is this going deeper going to be illegal or dangerous?”
“No?” You ask, because right now it’s neither, but who knows how far the string you’re pulling might unravel.
“Then I say go for it,” She smiles a little, “I know you’ve been wanting something more challenging here, and if you think there’s something worth digging at then dig at it, but promise me if it takes a turn, you tell me?”
“I promise.”
“Well then, reporter, go get your story.”

DISCLAIMERS
This is fiction. Please always talk to your partner before doing anything and make sure they are ok with what you are doing beforehand
It will not follow the timeline of the show. But I hope you enjoy.
You sit in the living room of your friends house. Your husband sat next to you as the other guests talk around you. You recognise some of the other people. Knowing them from previous parties and interactions. Talking mainly to them but still joining in with some of the conversation from everyone. Laughing at the jokes they make or adding your own knowledge to subjects. You notice Tommy stays silent beside you. Occasionally smiling at a joke, even letting out soft chuckles. But you pay it no mind.
Once all the guests have arrived is when the party truly gets started. Music, food, and alcohol is served. You got up, getting yourself and your husband a drink each. Him thanking you as you sit next to him again. Sipping your drink you lean towards him. "That is Vanessa's niece and nephew. Her brother and sister in law" you point out the people. His eyes following your finger as he listens to your introductions.
"The group over there are some of her friends from her early childhood. They used to play together when they were younger. I wish I could remember all their names" you pause as you try and think. "I've only met them once and that was a few years ago on my defense" he continues to watch the different people. "Oh that is her nanny. Vanessa comes from a very, very posh family so they could hire a nanny" you look around. Pulling at your bottom lip slightly with your teeth as you try and find a specific person. Shrugging slightly, downing the rest of your drink before muttering. "I can't see either of her parents"
You stand up. Causing his eyes to move from the crowd up to meet yours. "Do you want another drink?" he shakes his head. Watching as you go over to the drinks area. Grabbing a bottle and refilling your glass. You go to walk back over to your husband just as Vanessa comes up beside you. You smile at her, going to speak but she cuts you off.
"So... you got married" you nod, placing the lid of the bottle back on as you place it back onto the table. "That must be nice for you... " Turning to face her you take a sip of your drink "Thomas Shelby correct?". You nod again, getting ready to answer her 21 questions. "How did you two meet then?"
"I ran into him a few times around where we lived. We got closer once I became his neighbor. Once that happened one thing led to another and well - now we're married"
"Oh that's... sweet"
"You hesitated"
"No. No I didn't" you look at her, a smile taunting your lips as she shakes her head. Raising your eyebrow a fraction she lets out a sigh "Ok maybe I'm a bit hesitant" you lean against the table, picking your drink up.
"Why?"
"I just- I'm concerned for you" she comes closer to you, her eyes darting over at the man as she speaks in a hushed tone "I've heard about the Peaky Blinders. What they do. And who they are run by" you nod, watching as she moves a little bit away from you. Placing her hands either side of your arms. Almost holding you in place as she tilts her head down slightly. Looking at you through her eyebrows. As if the new angle could give a new perspective for either of you.
"I'm worried you've gotten yourself into a situation that you can't get yourself out of. That you've done something to end up here" you nod in understanding. Bringing your drink up to your lips as you take a sip. She continues "The violence that surrounds his name. The illegal acts that his family take part in. The affairs he has with every girl with a heart beat". Your eyes glance over to him. As if on cue a young, very attractive girl goes and sits next to him. You take a deep breath and look back at your friend. Smiling at her as you place your drink down. Taking her hands in yours as you look at your friend.
"I appreciate your concern. I do. And I love how much you care about me. But I am aware of who my husband is and the acts he gets up to in his free time" you look downward as you continue speaking slowly, thinking the words through before saying them out loud. "I know that - so long as I am his wife - my sisters and I will be protected from everyone who used to want me dead. I also know that my husband would never cause me harm as it wouldn't be in his best interest to hurt me"
Before either of you could continue your conversation, a youngish lad comes over. Asking your friend for a dance to which she accepts. You take this time to down your drink, pouring yourself another one before going back over to the table with Thomas at. The girl he was talking to stands up, smiling at you before turning to him. Gently resting her hand on his shoulder as she leans down. "I've got to go. My car is waiting for me. It was lovely seeing you today" she smiles, gently kissing his cheek before she stands up. "We should meet up again. Some time soon" he nods, watching her as she walks away.
"Who was that?" you ask.
"Just a girl. She thought I looked lonely so kept me company" you nod slightly.
"Sorry I would've come back sooner but I got talking to V" he nods and smiles softly at you as you turn to face him instead.
"How do you two know each other then, eh?" you let out a soft chuckle. Bringing your glass up to your lips, speaking before taking a sip of the liquid.
"I stole a large sum of money from her". His normal expressionless features turn to one of confusion instead. Causing you to let out a small chuckle, turning to watch your friend dancing as you talk to him. "I was 17. Stole her purse from her. I went to a poker game and won a good few times. She found out. I gave her back the money and the extra earnings I had made. She was impressed by how I had dealt with the money, how I stole it plus how I'd increased the earnings that she offered me a job. Working for her. Stealing for her. Being a spy of sorts. I denied the offer. I was young and knew if I started working for her then that would be it for life. But she took a liking to me. Let me stay in her house for a bit. I guess that's how we became friends"
You down the rest of your drink before placing it onto the table. Turning to face your husband. His features soft but unreadable as you watch him. You smile, standing up as you hold your hand out. A look of amusement on his face as he looks up at you.
"Lets go dance" he watches you. A smile threatens his lips before he places his hand into yours. Letting you essentially drag him to the dancing. The both of you engaging and dancing with other party goers. The song finishes and you all cheer for the band. He turns to you, gently resting his hand on your lower back as he whispers into your ear.
"You carry on dancing love. I'm going to sit down" you nod, smiling at him as you feel him move his hand from you. You take hands with one of the other party guests. Dancing with them in place of your husband.
A few more hours pass. You dance and drink throughout the night. That is until the party starts to disperse. Ending in the early hours of the morning. You say goodnight to your friends. Finding your husband sitting at a table. The girl from earlier that night sitting next to him again. You bite your bottom lip slightly. Unsure if you should go over and say something. He is your husband after all. But you arent jealous of the girl hes talking to, yes you find him attractive but you arent married to gim for romantic reasons. Because of this you decide to leave it.
Retiring to your bedroom for the night. Stumbling slightly as you make your way to the edge of the bed. Sitting onto it and regaining your balance. You must've drunk more then planned. Chuckling slightly at yourself, taking off your shoes. Starting to undo the buttons of your dress, the door opens. You automaticaly stop undressing as Thomas walks in. You smile at him softly before standing up and turning your back slightly. Undoing and taking off your dress. Leaving you in your bra, pants, and socks. Your husband takes off his blazer. You watch as he loosens and undoes his tie. Placing them onto a small armchair sitting in the bedroom.
"Mr Shelby?" you ask. Your voice quiet as to not disturb the other members of the house. He turns to face you, starting to undo his shirt buttons as he gives you his undivided attention. Your drunken mind taking over from your logical one. "Do you find me attractive?". He pauses. His hands that were undoing his buttons fall calmly to his sides. His piercing eyes standing out in the room as they watch you. The silence quickly falling onto your ears. You break your gaze with his, shaking your head slightly. Your slowly sobering mind catching up with your drunken one. "Sorry it was a stupid question. Just forget I asked it".
You reach your hands up. Fumbling with your earrings as you take them out. "Why would you think I don't find you attractive?". The suddenness of his voice making you jump slightly. You look at him. His gaze just as harsh as it was when you originally looked away.
"Please just-" you shake your head as you break his gaze "Forget I asked. Please. I think the alcohol from tonight is clouding my judgement"
"There must be some other reason behind this thought though eh?" you meet his eyes again. "You want a trusting relationship with me. This is a good way to start. So tell me - why are you suddenly asking this question"
"B-because..." you feel your cheeks start to turn a slight shade of red. His eyes dart to your cheeks, noticing the change of colour in them. He tries his best to hide the slight smirk that comes over his face
"You need to speak up love" he teases. You avoid his eyes. Speaking softly but loudly.
"We haven't had sex. Not since our wedding. I know that it's not because you're to busy for it. I've seen how you are with other woman. I know that you get it else where. I just- I assumed its because I was a social accessory. Not someone you would actually want to have sex with". There's a small pause before you hear him walk towards you. A soft grip onto your jaw as he tilts your head to look at him.
"This marriage was constructed for social reasons. Not sexual ones" he leans down, his eyes watching yours as his lips hover dangerously close to yours. "But if you want a fuck... Then I can give you a fuck". You pause a moment. Taking in what he said before you nod. A very quick but enthusiastic nod. Dropping your face he stands up straight. Taking a few steps back from you. His eyes grazing over your half naked form. You watch him. Waiting for his next move.
"Get undressed" he says. His eyes coming up and meeting yours. Never once breaking contact as you stand up. Slowly taking off your layers as he rolls his sleeves up and pushing his suspenders off of his shoulders. Watching your every movement as your undergarments soon become a small pile on the floor. You keep your arms by the side as he comes over to you. Closing the gap he created. Tilting your head up by your chin as you lock eyes with his. "Open you legs". You do as he says. The hand wondering from your chin, down your throat. Between your breasts. Over your stomach. Eventually finding that spot between your legs.
Your hands come up, resting onto his shoulders as he moves his fingers slowly over your clit. You flutter your eyes shut as soft moans leave your lips. Hands gripping his shoulders as he continues to work on the small bundle of nerves. You feel his finger move. Gently pushing two digits into your needy hole.
Another soft whine leaves your lips as he begins to slowly thrust his fingers in and out of you. "Poor thing. Already so wet for me. And I've been a neglectful husband. Not helping to attend to your needs". He puts his arm around your waist. Holding you close to him as he continues.
"P-please Mr Sh-Shelby" you manage to stutter out. Opening your eyes, your gaze connecting with his as he quickens his pace on you. Causing all logical thought to leave your head as you dig your nails into his shoulders. Feeling your orgasm building up and up. "Please. Please" you mumble. He smiles, watching as you start to crumble under him.
"You want to cum eh?" Feeling him curl his fingers inside of you. You nod
"Yes. Fuck yes. Please" he smiles. Kissing you harshly before he removes his fingers. Right before you could cum. "No. Please. Please" you beg. Your hips rutting against nothing as you try and get some sort of friction. He smiles. An almost sadistic smile as you grip at his shirt.
"Its ok love. I'll let you cum before morning". He kisses you again. Enjoying the small grunt you make as your mouths connect. He pulls away. Pushing you gently away from him, perching you onto the end of the bed. You watch as he starts to undo the buttons of his shirt. You bite your bottom lip. Watching his hands remove the delicate fabric. Your eyes fixated on him removing his trousers and underwear. His clothes becoming forgotten on the floor as he walks over to you.
He doesn't hesitate as he pushes his lips back onto yours. Your hand going to the back of his head as the other holds his bicep. His hands going to either side of your face. The slight taste of alcohol on both of your tongues as you continue to kiss each other. He holds you close to him as he pushes you to lie down. Him coming on top of you as you put a leg either side of him. He breaks away from the kiss, gently running the back of his fingers down the side of your face. Your soft smile quickly changing as he pushes himself into you.
"Holy fuck". You groan out. Eyes fluttering as he bottoms out. Kissing your neck before he pulls out completely. Pushing himself back into you. Repeating this action, slowly but precise. His tip hitting that sweet spot inside of you with every thrust. He keeps eye contact with you as he rests his forehead onto yours. Your hands go to his cheeks. Soft whimpers leaving your lips as he begins to fasten his pace. That familiar feeling building up again.
"I didn't think... that a girl as smart as you... could be fucked... into being so dumb... so easily" he says. Emphasizing every few words with a thrust. The words going straight to your core, causing you to tighten around him. He lets out a chuckle that quickly turns into a grunt. Kissing you as he also gets closer to his own high.
"C-can I cu-cum? Pl-please?" he smies. Kissing you again before speaking.
"Let me feel this pretty pussy cum around my cock" you moan out. Shutting your eyes tightly as you ball your hands into fists. Letting your orgasm wash over you. Tightening around his length. A few more thrusts and he hits his own high. Pushing deep into you as he lets his cum fill you up. The both of you breathe deeply. Catching your breath as you gently run your hands over his shoulder blades. Shutting your eyes as you feel him start to go soft inside of you.
He plants a deep kiss to your lips before he pulls out of you. He cleans himself up, putting his boxers back on. You sit up. Bringing your knees up to your chest. He grabs out a pack of cigarettes, rolling one over his lips before placing it into his mouth. Taking out a lighter and lighting the end. He draws a drag from it. Taking it from his lips with his thumb and forefinger he hands it to you. Exhaling the smoke, you watch as it falls around him. You take the item, placing it into your mouth. Shutting your eyes as you let the nicotine fill your body.
Opening your eyes you take the cigarette from your lips. Standing up you give it back to him. Grabbing some sort of cloth to clean yourself up with before placing your night clothes over yourself. His eyes watch you as you make your way over to the bed. Getting underneath the covers you hear the birds start to chirp outside. A tired smile appears on your lips as you look over at the window. You nestle down under the duvet. Bringing it close to your face as you get warm. Knowing you have a couple of hours before you need to be awake.
A few minutes pass, feeling movement in the bed next to you. You open your eyes, seeing Thomas getting in next to you. He rests on his back, bringing an arm up to rest behind his head. Your eyes scan over his profile. The early morning sun sneaking in past the curtains, making his skin look beautiful as he lies next to you. You shut your eyes again. Speaking softly to him
"Sleep well, Mr Shelby"

Spencer how are you so sure about your sp? isnt he a celebrity?
<33333333333333333333333333
For the longest time, I struggled with the concept of being able to have a relationship with celebrities.
I had limited beliefs about that word until last week, when I realized that it was just a title. We are so used to titles like police officer, teacher, mom, sister, brother, etc., but why do we give so much power to the word celeb? Celebrity is just a title just as much as the other words I just wrote; the only difference is that they're well known and have a lot of money; that's it!
So to answer the question, I don't question the how or why; it's none of my business. I also relate to the times when I met my favorite celebs when I was younger. I never asked how or why; I just knew I was going to meet them.
I also redirect my brain to the time when my friend and I met Ariana Grande, (during this time she was on victorious) and my friend ended up being close friends with her; she even follows her on Instagram. So yes, it's very possible. Either you want to be friends or have a romantic relationship, always remember that they're just human beings at the end of the day; they think, they feel, and they'll die just like us. They are not untouchable.
Another example is that my friend at the time was a huge Vanessa Hudgens fan; she ran a fansite and a fan Instagram.
She always knew that Vanessa was going to see her fansite one day and that she'd have a connection with her.
Vanessa now follows her account; she has met Vanessa so many times, and Vanessa knows her personally.
*Also a lot of celebs do not like other celebs, they love normal people like me and you. most celebs treat other celebs like co-workers
Why do you think Selena Gomez hangs out with the most normal-looking people? Why do you think Ariana, at the start of her career, gave her phone number to her fans, tweeted out her locations, etc.? They hate talking about fame and work. Most celebs actually hate being celebs, but they love their work so they suck it up.
My sp lives a boring life outside of his work; he doesn't even have social media, and he's very private, so I know for a fact that dating him would be very easy for me since he has dated fans in the past.
So, like I said in the SP post, deprogram your thinking and get rid of your limited beliefs and you'll have that celeb sp.

Chapter 3
The next day, you made sure to visit your friend, Vanessa Enoteca, to their headquarters which is so weird because according to the Magic Emperor it changes randomly. Now, you are roaming endlessly to the forest trying to decipher where the hell is Black Bull’s headquarters.
“Excuse me?”
A voice interrupted your lost thoughts when a small muscular guy talked to you. He is somehow upper body naked with a band on his hair.
“Hey, Black Bull?” You asked taking notice of the logo on the band on his hair.
“Who are you?” His eyes changed into a scrutinizing one that almost made you laugh.
You grinned, “Y/N. I am a Magic Knight. I believe that you are at Captain Yami’s squad, right?”
“Right!” He went back smiling, “My name is Asta. Nice to meet you.”
Oh.
“Asta, huh? So you’re the one with the five leaf clover, anti magic and has no magic?”
He frowned, “You make it sound like it’s a bad thing!”
“No, no,” You chuckled, “I didn’t mean to but I heard stories about you.”
He wore his robe and looked back at you.
“I was looking for your headquarters and I think I am lost.”
“Alright. I’ll bring you.” He politely said and walked.
You followed him. A moment of walking and you come across a silver-haired girl with her hand on her hips and the other flipping her hair. She arrogantly asked Asta where he went as she was looking for her.
“Bakasta!” She said.
You smile. The memories of a small child is playing in your mind as you watch the two argue over the trivial thing. She was so small when you left, just walking around the castle and has no responsibilities. Though looking at her now, she seems very matured and has experience of battles already.
“Who is she, Asta?”
“Oh, she’s Y/N. A Magic Knight. She’s looking for our headquarters.” Asta answered.
You saw Noelle gaped upon hearing your name. You didn’t think she would remember you as years have already gone by.
“Bakasta! She’s the one we went for last night. The one where all the squads gather for her return!”
You guess she didn’t remember you.
Asta looked at you gaping now as well upon learning the information. You didn’t think what should be gapable on having your return but probably the gathering of the captains is a great deal.
“I knew you won’t remember me, Noelle Silva.” You directed your eyes and attention to her.
“You know me? Well, I’m a royal.” Then she flipped her hair again.
You chuckled, “You’re definitely a Silva, but I am here for Vanessa. Is she at the headquarters?”
“Vanessa senpai? You know her?” Asta asked.
“We were at the Entrance Exam the same year.”
They let you follow them. You smiled seeing the two bickers on your way. Later on, you saw the black building where you recognized as Black Bulls’ headquarters. Nothing much has changed.
You followed their lead and they opened the door for you.
“Vanessa senpai, someone is looking for you!” Asta’s loud mouth echoed, you sure that it resonated in the room.
“To me?” You heard Vanessa, and you took it as a cue to show yourself, “Y/N! I know you will come for me!”
“So, that’s why you didn’t bother welcoming me?”
She grinned, “Of course, but we had a mission yesterday and it was late when we got back. Anyway, what’s important is that you’re now here!”
She didn’t change but you can see that she somehow matured.
It was late before you noticed that the whole squad was staring at you. You mustered up a shy smile to them and gaze to Vanessa.
“Oh right,” She jolted, “Everyone, this is Y/N. She’s a friend of mine. A Magic Knight too and we entered the same year.”
“Y/N? That sounds familiar…”
“Isn’t she… Well, I don’t remember.”
“Who cares? Is she strong, Vanessa? Can I fight her?”
“You can’t fight a beautiful woman, I think we can date later!”
“Marie is the only beautiful person!”
“I...I don’t t-think he m-meant t-that w-way, Gauche.”
“Hey brats, she’s an important Magic Knight. She’s definitely at captain level.”
You almost want to roll your eyes when Captain Yami appears from the hall. He smirked when he looked at you to the silver-haired girl.
“Noelle, have you met her?” He teased. Oh my god.
Noelle looked at him confused, “Yeah, we met outside.”
“You don’t remember her?”
“She told me that I might not remember her, but who is she exactly? Is she a royal?”
Yami smiled, “Nothing. You should ask your older brother about her.”
“Who? Nozelnii-sama or Solidnii-sama?”
“Maybe both.” Captain Yami grinned.
“I sort of met you when you were younger, I mean I always see you or sometimes babysit you.”
You decided to interject because it seems this is inevitable and it might as well come from you than anyone else. Some people might inject ideas to her.
“Just that?”
“Captain…” You stressed.
“Alright! Alright, I will stop!” Captain Yami laughed.
“Oh, I don’t remember.” Noelle only said.
“It’s fair enough. If not for your hair and your distinct feature I wouldn’t recognize you either, you’ve grown so much.”
There’s a blush that creeped into her cheeks upon your praise. The smile that crossed your lips was almost motherly-like. She grew up beautifully, almost identical to her mother. Acier Silva must be so proud watching her.
“You should’ve come to my squad. Definitely, you are an addition to this weird squad.”
You grinned, “I know that you already expected me not to change my squad, I don’t know what you are fussing about.”
A smirk graced his lips. You and Vanessa decided to leave and went to a restaurant to catch up. You’re talking while eating when the crowd made whisper noises that caught your attention, when you checked out what they were looking at you saw Nebra and Solid Silva there. They just arrived and as Solid sat down your eyes met.
You looked down, “Vanessa, I think we should go.”
“Hey, we came here first and they don’t own this restaurant. We’ll be fine. You will be fine.” Vanessa told you back.
As much as you want to believe her, but you caught Solid’s playful smirk before he stood up. Eyes were following him as he made his way to you. You can almost hear Nebra’s protests.
When he stops at your table, you don’t have any choice but to acknowledge his presence.
“Solid Silva. Nice to see you well.” You said.
His eyebrow raised, “I am indeed well, Y/N. I am not going to waste time, I just want to ask why did you still come back? Everything’s going pretty well here without you.”
“Hey!” Vanessa stood up, anger displayed on her face. People started to watch the scene, even the people outside were peeking.
“This is my homeland, of course I will always come back where I came from.” You bravely answered him, although his words stinged you.
Solid laughed at your words, “Homeland? Who even voluntarily leaves their homeland, huh?”
“I did that to-”
“To prove something? To hurt people who will be left behind? Isn’t that selfish?”
You stood up, “You have no idea what I’ve been through and I would never wish that to someone, even for you.”
“Don’t give that to me. You want to leave! You left my brother, right? You chose that! So, don’t give me crap about what you’ve been through because you also have no idea what he's been through!”
“Solid!” Nebra stood up and dashed her way to his brother, “Stop making a scene!”
Your breathing became violent, “I-I’m sorry.”
“No, do not apologize for something you don’t regret.” Nebra told you.
“Just don’t come near our brother again, or else you’ll deal with me.” Solid points at you. He brushed off Nebra’s hold on his arm, “I don’t want to eat here anymore. Let’s go.”
They both left the restaurant, and you felt your knees weaken making you sit back on your chair. Vanessa went on about you apologizing and how you shouldn’t have done that. The people’s look at you made you extremely uncomfortable. The two of you decided to leave and went to a forest near Black Bull’s headquarters.
“Y/N, are you alright?” Vanessa asked after a long silence.
You looked at her and smiled, “Yeah. I expected that, actually.”
She sighed and told stories, changing the topic which made you thankful of her. The nightfall came and Vanessa although hesitant parted ways with you. You decided to take a leisure walk in the Royal Capital for hours, a lot of thoughts coming to you. The years of your travel brought you to the results that you needed before you left and it made you happy.
“No, do not apologize for something you don’t regret.”
Maybe Nebra was right. You don’t regret that you left because it gains you something irreplaceable, something that you lacked before you left.
You decided to go back to the headquarters as you noticed the stalls beginning to close up and the crowd was dissipating. As you walk at an average phase, someone’s presence was made known to you. It was familiar, and felt almost like a comfort to you.
“Y/N.”
That brooding low voice and a man with purple eyes appeared from the alleyway on your way to the headquarters. You are frozen on the spot. The silhouette of that man changed into his own physical self.
“Nozel…” It hit you and you looked down, “Captain Nozel.”
He did not talk for a lot of seconds and you did not dare to look at him. You have no right to. Instead, you wait for his words. He called you, it means he needs something.
“I… I wanted to extend my apology to you.” His words were enough to make you look at him. Your mind went on a trip to the memories thinking of the cause of his apology in seconds. You found nothing, it should even be the other way around.
“F-For what?”
“I learned about the incident earlier with Solid. I assure you that I already talked to him and made him promise to not talk to you like that again. That is not how a royal acts.”
Oh.
“It’s nothing. I understand where he is coming from. You should not apologize for that.” You said.
“Understanding the reason doesn’t make the course of action appropriate.” He said, without the familiarity of softness and affection he usually uses to you. It was all gone. You are only colleagues now.
“Of course. I understand. Thank you… for apologizing. It’s alright.” You stammered.
He paused, “Very well. I won’t keep you for long. Thank you, Y/N.”
“You’re welcome,” Your eyes on his purple one. The one you felt so bare everytime it turned to you. The one who looked at you like you’re a goddess. The one you felt the most loved. The one you love the most, “Captain Nozel.”
It is not the same. It changed. Everything has changed.

a lil teaser for the football fic with no name yet!
It’s pissing down. The umbrella he’s holding earns its forty quid by staying up right as the wind whacks against his back and pushes him further towards the pitch.
Robert looks up and hears a few Brighton fans laughing and joking, cheering about seagulls or something as they make their way out. Robert knows no Hotten fans are around, they’d be fools if they wanted to stay to hear the other team banging on about absolutely thrashing them on their own ground.
The result just so happens to be the icing on the already shit cake he’s got to eat for the next few months.
And he can’t quite believe it.
Robert moves his foot onto the pitch and watches as his shoe seeps into the sodden grass, sinks down into the mud further and further. That does it, it’s the cherry on top as he yanks out his phone and scowls down at Lawrence’s number, it takes all of two seconds for him to answer the call.
“Oh Robert, you’ve arrived then?”
“What sort of shit is this you’re playing at?”
And maybe, maybe it’s no way to speak to him but he does because right now he couldn’t give an absolute shit.
“What does that mean?”
“Hotten?” Robert spins around and stares up at the empty stands. “Hotten?” He shudders. “When you said a team’s interested in signing you for the season, that it’d be a good opportunity to get me fit again, I thought you meant West Ham or Wolves, not –”
“Hotten are a good team.”
Robert knows what that means, it’s means they’ve got heart and passion and Match Of The Day say they play brave football sometimes. It doesn’t mean they’re successful.
“Aren’t they bottom of the table?”
Lawrence says absolutely nothing for a second and then he clears his throat. “Not for much longer.”
Robert doesn’t know what to do, or what to say, because it’s all sounding like he’s their miracle worker and that definitely does something for his self-esteem, something that he needs after being on the sidelines for over a year.
For a second, the smallest second, he feels like a little boy wanting someone to say he’s special. He remembers being a lanky sixteen-year-old signing the contracts and having Lawrence tell him that he has a lot of potential to make it into the first team. He absolutely hates himself for it.
“What so … you think I can actually make a difference?”
Go on. Robert wants to say. Compliment me right now.
Lawrence is predictable, he says he should make a difference and Robert’s got all that weight pressed on his shoulders again.
“I didn’t agree to this.” Robert bites, slips back into himself. “I agreed to stretch my legs, have an opportunity outside of Leeds but this … it’s …”
It’s degrading. It’s taking a league champion and plunging him into a team that are lucky to still be amongst all the others. It’s telling everyone Robert’s career is over, that he’s not bounced back from his injury and he’ll never be who he was before it happened.
And it’s not like Robert doesn’t know that himself. It’s what keeps him up at night.
“Happening whether you like it or not.” Lawrence says. “I don’t think you know how lucky you are.”
“Lucky?” Robert knows he should be grateful about a lot of things going on in his life but how can he be in his career. “I was the best of the best and then I get kicked in the knee so hard I needed surgery. And now, now I’m not needed anymore, and now I’m standing on a pitch that looks like it’s quick sand and …”
Robert looks up and sees someone staring at him.
“If you would like to come with me.”
Robert wouldn’t actually. He hangs up by the phone and then stares down at the time. It’s nearly nine, the team’s probably gone by now and for some reason that makes his shoulders relax a little.
Robert walks with the woman in silence, she prattles on about the stadium, its history and the trophy cabinet. He passes it and doesn’t look back; it might as well be empty.
“We’re really happy that you’ve decided to come and see us.” He finds out that the woman, Vanessa, is part of the medical team and she makes him feel a little important until he’s walking towards an office and being told to wait outside for a second.
Robert rolls his eyes, leans back against the wall and then spots Clive, his manager walking towards him. He shoots off the wall and shakes his head.
“Is this where you say there’s been a mistake or something?” Robert says. “As in you’ve told Lawrence where to go?”
Clive shakes his umbrella against the floor and runs a hand through his hair. “No.” He says. “Because it’s this or sitting up in the stands watching younger kids pass your club records. So suck it up.”
Robert bites his gum hard. “I could fire you; you know that?”
Clive scoffs, “Yeah? Try finding someone dumb enough to replace me.”
Robert scowls and then the door opens to reveal a very pink Paddy Kirk standing there looking like he’s going to be sick.
“Hello.” Paddy waves a hand out and Robert does his best not to roll his eyes. He knows about Paddy; he went viral last season for asking an interviewer to repeat a question three times because he couldn’t understand it. He’s hapless and yet somehow he stays around. “Um, come this way.”
Paddy tries to show him to the only empty seat in the room like he has to, and Robert sits down awkwardly. He’s staring at Pollard and the back of someone’s head until he turns and sees that it’s Aaron Dingle. He looks about as pissed as Robert feels and it relaxes Robert for a second in this really weird way until he realises that Aaron should be kissing his feet. He’s saving his club.
“Hi Robert, glad you could join us.” Pollard says, and then he brings his hands together and smiles. “We’re all glad you’re here.”
Robert could do without the pleasantries so he just nods.
“I hope I’m not treading on anyone’s toes.” Robert says after a few seconds of just staring at Dingle looking like he’s about to throw Pollard through the window.
“Oh no, nothing like that.” Pollard says. Only Aaron just has to scoff, pull his head into his hands and sighs. He’s acting like a kid who’s been told he can’t play outside even when his older brother can.
“So there is a problem?” Robert says, he stares right at Dingle as he speaks.
Aaron scowls. “We’re rival teams you know.” It’s the first thing that comes out of his mouth. It tells Robert all he needs to know.
Robert laughs.
“What?” Aaron wants to deck him already it seems.
“We’re hardly in the same league. Pun intended.” Robert has this smile on his face. Aaron looks like he wants to punch him.
Aaron only sits up straighter. He looks like he’s going to explode. “You ain’t being a hero here, let’s get that straight now.”
It’s Robert’s turn to scowl. “Did I dream that result you just got?”
“More than you’ve got recently.” Aaron blurts out and Robert can’t help but find his anger a little amusing.
Robert’s eyes flicker. “Is that right?”
Aaron nods his head so vigorously and then looks back at Pollard. “Surely if we need someone, we should get someone who’s actually fit enough to make a difference.”
“Aaron.” Paddy whispers.
Robert smiles. “No. Let him carry on, let him be the captain that watches his team lose 6-1 every week. It’s not my fault you couldn’t step up to lead this lot.”
“What did you just ...” Aaron stands up like he’s going to do something, his eyes are wide and blue, and he probably thinks his towering over Robert when in reality he isn’t. He looks like an idiot.
“Aaron.” Paddy stands too, shakes his head at Aaron and Clive starts speaking about how he won’t let Robert be undermined like this, by the likes of this football club.
Robert sits back, waits for Aaron to sit down again and then he looks at Pollard.
“I deserve some respect.”
“Of course you do. All my players do.” Pollard says, like a politician trying to appease the crowds.
Robert sits forward and then looks at the way Aaron is bouncing his leg again like some sort of caged animal or something. He knows about Aaron, the underdog, the hero of the hour, the down to earth lad from the small village with a big dream.
Robert knows that he’s good at what he does. It doesn’t mean anything now.
“Of course.” Clive says. “But if Aaron doesn’t show respect, than none of his players will.”
Aaron breathes in deeply, everyone hears it. Robert can’t help but think he’s the most dramatic person he’s ever met.
“Fine.” Aaron mutters. “I just ain’t keen on us becoming Sugden FC.”
“Could make a change from Dingle FC.” Robert shrugs his shoulders, it’s not really helpful but he can’t help himself.
Aaron scowls at him, if looks can kill and all that.
“You work around us, not us around you.” Aaron says, like he’s the one in charge of the demands made around here.
“We’ll make this work.” Paddy keeps nodding his head like if he says it over and over again it’ll actually happen.
Why don’t I have someone give you a tour of the place whilst me and Clive talk business?” Pollard says.
Paddy shoots up to do it, stupid smile on his face and says he’ll lead the way. “Aaron can come and …”
Aaron’s already by the door. “I’m shattered, I’ll see you tomorrow.” He says, and Robert tells himself it’s the wind that slams the door and not Aaron and his stupid self.

Tumblr media
Pressentimento masculine noun 1. act of feeling in advance, more through emotion than reason, the occurrence of a future fact; suspicion. "I have a p. that this will not work" 2. knowledge of what will happen, obtained by intuition; forecast, hunch, omen.
You still hadn't explained everything to your father nor your uncle. Cas remembered one of the episodes that occurred with you when you were younger, around ten or so. It was hard for you. Every time you tried to explain yourself, things were hard to explain. All the time, something blocked you from exposing the fear inside you, the fear of letting things out.
The way their "new" memories came to them didn't help. It was so unpredictable. Cas remembered you praying first and then, mixed memories, tiny ones, which made him assume a lot about you already; and worry as well. Dean remembered more, like the time Sam was soulless and you lived with him for months, you concluded he was remembering things by the impact they had in his life. As for Sam, well, apparently things were coming more chronologically for him, but a little late, since he also had a lot of Camila to remember.
You tried to think how to talk to them about your crisis. The big ones. It was so complicated. When it started happening, you had your godmother to help with calming down and understanding how sensible you were; but even Vanessa had to talk with the Winchesters to fully understand what made you so much stronger and sensitive. Anyway, she wouldn't help you now that she was in the list of people to whom you never existed.
Oh, and your mother...
Looking at pictures of her nowadays became an addiction. You couldn't sleep before searching a little more about her, not that you've been having much sleep or any of this helped. You wish so bad you could talk to her. And now that Sam told ya you reminded him so much of Camila, you really studied her, trying to find the resemblance.
How would you tell them there's more? More of you to worry. You wanted to wait for a time when the memories hangovers weren't so heavy on them. They were all trying to act normal, but it was obvious - you've never been at home for this long, they were never so quiet. Dean wasn't even drinking, to make sure he wouldn't be more confused.
You were lying down on your bed, trying to ease the headache. It was normal to have a day just to be tired, but after the all day just resting you still got a headache by night. Went to get a pill to make it better and when you swallow it, you realize something.
"I don't exist." You whisper to yourself.
For the first time in that day, you felt useful. Even with the headache, you got in front of the computer and started to do your thing. For some reason you got happy when you confirmed your theory.
"I was never born."
"You gotta stop thinking about that." Dean warned you.
"No, I mean... I don't exist."
The three men stared at you with confusion, you repeated.
"I don't exist."
Still nothing. The room was filled with silence while you hoped for the clicking in their minds. It never came. You sighed.
"I never existed! Never did anything!"
Sam looked at you like he was starting to worry, while holding a bowl with cereal. Just like Dean, who chewed his, probably thinking you've gone crazy.
"I don't understand why you're so excited saying it." Cas finally said.
"Isn't it obvious?" They once more, didn't react. "There are no records of me, at all. Nobody knows about me. I only left the bunker once."
"What's your point?" Dean asked.
"We should keep it that way."
"What? Why?" The brothers said together.
"Well, if nobody knows I'm here, we're in advantage. It's always good to have a secret backup, right?"
"Like... as a surprise element?" Castiel suggested, you nodded. "Y/N, you don't truly expect us to treat you like a secret weapon..."
"Hell no." Dean agreed.
"It's not like it."
"Well, I don't see your point." You father stated. "I know this seems messed up, but, we can fix it. Don't worry."
"I'm not worried, I'm thinking!" You made them quiet. "C'mon, think with me: I barely left the bunker, how could anyone know about me?"
"We know about you." Dean answered.
"But you've seen me. And your memories, are just yours, this doesn't mean the world knows about me."
"Ok, but you'll need to use an ID sometime. Or will you live forever here, inside the bunker?"
"Dean, you should know it's easier to make a fake ID look real if there isn't a real one to prove the fake one as fake."
Sam took a deep breath.
"Ok, so we leave it as it is. How much long do you think it would last?"
"Not much, I know. But at least, for a while it could be useful."
"I don't see how, Y/N. I'm not using you as my secret-spy-soldier or whatever."
"Sam is right. It's not worth it."
"Castiel?" You looked at him, only to find the agreeing look. You looked down.
"Look, how can you be sure nobody else remembers you?" The angel tried to clear your mind.
"For most people I know, I never happened. And the others, will probably only remember me when they see me, if they do. Until then..."
"That's not right." Sam interrupted. "I had this feeling about you, before we arrived on that day; like I left something behind, but I couldn't remember why."
"So did I."
"I got one your prayers for not getting news from us." You stood there, silent.
"That's it? A feeling you forgot something?!" You left for your bedroom, a little ofended they didn't listen to you. Your idea was good, logical. You genuinely thought they would see it as a good thing out of all this.
Reflecting on it, you finally notice: you may not know your family as well as before. At first it sounds crazy, but this is all crazy, ain't it? And after doing their exercise for a couple hours, thinking about your childhood, the events that crossed it and when it all began, you got yourself some questions.
You fell asleep while still thinking, trying to find logic somewhere and always getting to the same point, a lost point. Somehow while sleeping, you had no dreams, didn't wake up once; not even the fact that you were with a jacket bothered you.
"Hey, man. You good?" Dean noticed Sam squeeze his eyes.
"Yep. Just those flashbacks. I hate to have them by day, but I can't sleep no longer."
"Like a constant hangover, thank God it's not a heavy one." Sam did not answer. "Sam?"
"Right..." Sam stared at the floor, seeing stuff in his mind. He blinked multiple times after a little.
"You all right? You seem shocked. What did you remember?"
"It's just... Y/N's suggestion."
"Dude, that was today."
"Very funny!" Dean smiled a little to ease his brother. "It got me thinking. Why would she want that?"
"Honestly," Castiel entered suddenly. "I think she is trying to get something good out of this."
"Good? I see her point, but..."
"Not good." Cas interrupted, correcting himself. "Useful, at least."
"It's not as useful as she thinks." Dean says as if it's obvious.
"It's the only thing she has to offer." Castiel putted it in a weird way, but made sense. They silented for an instant. "Still, how does that has to do with your flashback, Sam?"
"I thought that maybe I should listen to her. Maybe there was a point."
"You, Sammy, considered the possibility of being saved by her?"
"Obviously not. I wondered: what if her non-existence helped her get away from this craziness. Like, she could get to any school if we put some effort."
"You concluded it fast." Cas commented.
"Well, yeah. Then I... questioned." Sam felt the gazes at him. "How did she get dragged into hunting in the first place? Why did I not stop it? And one more thing popped up: why did I leave college?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Dean couldn't understand his brother.
"Dean, if it wasn't for my anger towards Jessica's death, who knows..." He explained. "So why I left Stanford, making Camila stay behind and after weeks drop out too?"
Castiel took a seat.
"Why did you?"
Sam opened the door, showly. You were in your bed, far from his atmosphere, enjoying a rest you needed. He passed the door carefully, took a look at your room and turned the lights off. Ever since that hunt days ago, when he saw you sleep at the motel bed while he was reading about the case, the day he woke up before you and as you slept in the car coming back home, Sam felt peace as he watched you.
It was the moment he could breath easily and a little relaxed. You were resting, next to him, nothing could hurt you in your sleep. There, you were safe and wasn't leaving soon. So he couldn't help watch you once more; just stood by the door for a couple seconds, smiled at the taught of you having a break from this madness for some hours. Grabbed the door and heard your move, turning to check if he had woken ya.
"Sorry."
"Don't be." Your voice sounded lazy. "I have a light sleep."
"So do I." You nodded. You knew it. He regrets commenting it.
"What is it?"
"Nothing. Go back to sleep."
"No, tell me." He understood you couldn't sleep anymore.
"You don't want to talk now."
"It's about earlier, I know." You said while rubbing your eyes. "Just spit it." He gave in and sat in your chair.
"Why do you wanna do it?"
"Why don't you?"
"Why would I?"
"You've always wanted this." He gulped.
"What? No!"
"You never wanted me to be in risk, you hated the fact I made you all vulnerable, now nobody knows I'm here. I know this isn't permanent and things can change, but for now, you could finally be at peace. Nobody knows me, none of you have to worry."
Samuel digested everything you said and got his answer prepared fastly enough.
"For a long time I asked myself if Jessica never died, would I be here? And you know, as things turned out to be, as I found out more and more throughout the years I got the answer." He paused. "I would. Because if it wasn't Jess, it would be Dean or dad, or a friend."
"What do you mean?"
"I left college for revenge." You got surprised. "It wasn't Jess. Not anymore." That sounded weird. "I made a choice and I know now that somehow, at some point, no matter how many times... I would make that choice again. As soon as somebody I care about got in danger. So I left college. For you."
Sam got back from his first hunt after two years. Camila was waiting. They talked and she was serious when she told him to call Dean. Leave as soon as he could. She said she had a bad feeling, he had to find his father. Was something repentine, fast and clear - the fear in her voice stopped Sam from questioning.
"The way she talked to me... her eyes, getting sudden tears. At first I tried to calm her, jokes on me, I blamed her hormones. Camila proved me wrong. I knew she had that sometimes, like with tests or bad decisions, maybe something simple like knowing staying in was better than going to a party. She was always right. If not totally right, fast enough to avoid regret." He looked down as her voice came to his head and repeated her words. "'This is your family we're talking about, Samuel! Your child's grandfather.' She screamed. I was scared." You two laughed a little. "She begged. Aggressively. But, I didn't leave because she did."
"Why then?"
"I called Dean to get back there and pick me up because once we talked, I got that bad feeling too. And was suddenly afraid. Afraid something would happen to either of you." You stayed silent. "I hoped things would be more simple, soon I'd be back and things would go back to normal. You would be born and grow up, normal. We would be a family..."
"Please, don't say normal." He smiled.
"Your mother's bad feeling... I don't know what is was about exactly. She got scared too in that moment and it was the only time I saw her that scared. But I know that mine became true. Only, it was even worse. There was no blame. Of all things that happened in those months, how worried I was with my father, you, Camila and even Dean... The hunts, the confusion and overwhelming information all at once. The fear. Your mother's death was the most sudden and painful." You saw a tear run down his cheek, followed by a couple more. Sam had more to say but you spoke before, in the heat of the moment.
"She knew." He looked back at you, now with red eyes. "I think she knew something bad was going to happen."
"She knew we would be in danger." By we, he meant himself, his uncle and your grandpa.
"No. Not that. She knew that something terrible was happening already and would get worse. But she didn't tell you to go to stop it." His tears froze, lost in your words. "Like you said. Camila was always right about this bad feelings. She was certain." You were sure thanks to your own experience with it.
"About Dean needing me more than her?" You denied.
"About you needing the rest of your family once I was born."

Light My Fire - 1
Summary: Millie Halstead is just a girl finally coming home, Blake Gallo is just a boy looking for one. *Blake Gallo x OC Halstead/UPSTEAD
...
1 - It’s the Wind
...
O’Hare was buzzing with it’s normal chaotic energy, the business of traveling near the holidays lost on no one. Millie Halstead raced down her terminal, barely phased by the craziness. She couldn’t contain her smile as she saw a familiar redhead standing at baggage claim, she was home.
“Mildred.” Will said, holding his arms open.
Millie rolled her eyes, “William.” They both laughed before embracing, it had been six months since they had seen each other last. “I missed you.” She said, pulling away.
Will reached out and grabbed his sister’s bag off the floor where she had dropped it. “I missed you too.” He nodded towards the doors, “Let’s get out of here.”
The two siblings navigated the sea of people out of the airport and headed for Will’s car, which was conveniently (not) located at the far end of the parking garage. When they finally got there, Millie was out of breath, thankful that her brother had decided to take her bag.
“This is weird.” She said, sliding into the passenger seat.
“What is?”
Millie shrugged, “Being home.” She watched the city fly by out the window.
Will laughed at his sister’s dramatics, “Mill, this isn’t the first time you’ve come home…”
“Yeah, I know.” She said, glaring at him. “This is just the first time I’ve come home for good.” She peeked at her brother and watched his face go from very confused to shocked, she grinned.
“What?” Will asked, “You decided to take the job here?” Millie nodded, her heart swelling at her older brother’s joy. “The Halsteads,” He sighed, “All back together again.”
Millie laughed, “Looks like it.”
“Seattle not as fun as it used to be?” Will teased.
She watched the buildings go by, it was similar in some ways to Seattle, but Seattle would never be Chicago. “Seattle is beautiful and I will always love it there, but it’s too far away…” She explained. Millie had attended the University of Washington for biology (specializing under a professor in marine biology), and she would forever say that it was one of the best decisions she had ever made. She had just finished an expedition in the pacific, working with an organization called OCEARCH for shark conservation. When she got back to land, there was a job offer for her from the Shedd Aquarium.
As amazing as it was to live at sea, Millie missed her family and the decision to move back was a no-brainer. “I’m glad you're back, for good.” Will said, smiling.
“Yeah, me too.” She agreed.
A few minutes later, Will pulled into the parking lot of the district. “I’ve got night shift tonight, so you are Jay’s problem until tomorrow.” Will joked, putting the car in park. “I’ll leave your stuff at my apartment and you can come grab it later.”
Millie nodded, “Thanks Will.” She said, pushing the door open. “I’ll see you later.” Will waved before she shut the door, turning to make her way up the concrete steps.
The 21st district was just how she remembered it, hectic and full of life. “Millie Halstead.” She heard and her head snapped up, meeting her favorite desk sergeants eyes. “Look at you.” She said, rounding the massive desk and wrapping her in a hug.
“Hi Sergeant Platt.” She said, smiling.
Trudy pulled away, giving the much younger girl a fake stern look. “What have I told you? You aren’t your brother.”
Millie nodded, laughing. “You’re right. It’s good to see you, Trudy.”
“You too, it’s been too long since I’ve seen my favorite Halstead.” Trudy said quietly, “I’ll buzz you up.”
“Thanks!” Millie threw over her shoulder, before walking up the stairs. She was a lot younger than her brothers, a product of a time where Pat and Jane were happy again. Her mom died when she was still in middle school and Trudy had become a sort of mother figure afterwards. Jay had been in intelligence for a long time and before that he was still at the 21st, she spent a lot of late nights with the resident desk sergeant when she wanted to be anywhere but home.
She pushed the metal gate open and ascended the marble staircase to the bullpen. As room as she reached the top, her brother jumped up from his desk to greet her. Millie grinned, running past him and embracing his partner who was waiting for her with open arms. “Hey Mill.” Hailey said, hugging the girl tightly.
“Hey Hailes.” She replied.
Someone cleared their throat behind her, Millie pulled away and rolled her eyes. “Hi Jay.” She said, walking over to hug her brother.
“If it isn't baby Halstead?” Kevin asked, walking out of the interrogation room. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“Hey Kev.” She said before going to hug Kim. “Hey.”
Kim gave her a kind smile. “Hi Mill, how are you?”
Millie grinned, she had some news to share. “I’m great.”
The members of intelligence had become her family over the years, most of them had attended her high school graduation, Hailey flew out with Jay and Will to watch her walk in Washington. They had all been there for her every step of the way. Like when Jay was shot, Kim sat in the hospital on facetime with her for almost two days while he was in and out of surgery.
“Hey kid.” Adam said, ruffling her hair. Millie faked a punch and Adam jumped back putting his hands up in surrender. “Woah-wee, did you get taller? I think she got taller.” He said pointing at her.
Millie backed away from Adam, “Shut up.” She turned her attention back to Hailey, leaning against her desk next to her. “So, do you still have that extra room?” She asked and Jay’s eyebrows shot up.
Hailey grinned, “Yeah, it’s been empty since Vanessa left.”
“You feel like having a roommate again?” Millie asked.
“Only if it’s you.” Hailey said, wrapping her arm around the younger girl.
“Wait.” Jay said, moving his crossed arms to slightly point at his little sister. “Does this mean you are moving back?” Jay asked, his voice getting higher and more excited as he went.
Millie nodded, “Yeah. I took the job,” She took a step forward, almost like she was presenting herself to the room. “You are looking at the Shedd Aquarium’s new resident shark biologist!”
The room erupted with claps, Jay coming to stand beside her. “I’m so proud of you.” He said quietly before hugging her once again. As much as Millie loved Will, she and Jay had always been closer. Jay was the token middle child, she always hated the way their dad treated him, but they bonded growing up. They were closer in age and even as a kid Jay had a slight hero complex, so when he enlisted Millie was anything but surprised. She was ten when he left, Will had already been gone for a while, he was in New York, but Jay leaving hit her much harder.
When their mom got sick he came home, but he wasn’t the same. Something in him had changed, he was still her Jay: loving, protective, responsible...but there was a darkness that he brought with him. There were many times that year before their mom died that she would sit outside of his bedroom door in the middle of the night, listening to him thrash around. She would stay until she knew he had fallen back asleep and then sneak back to her room.
He left again for another tour after she died, that was the hardest. Pat was always distant, but after Jane died he wasn’t much of a father at all. Will visited, but he was living a new life far away so when he did come home, the time was short and few and far between.
Jay joined the force after his second tour, telling Millie that he was home for good. She moved in with him for her last two years of high school, with little interference from their father. They were happy, Jay was pulled into a unit, where he met Antonio Dawson and Millie got a few more people to call family. She even babysat Eva and Diego sometimes.
Choosing to go to Seattle for college was a hard decision, but she got a full scholarship and she had Jay’s full support, how could she not take it? That was the last time that she lived in Chicago, so Jay was ecstatic that she was back for good. “Let’s go get coffee, I’ve got some time and we need to catch up.” Jay said, grabbing his coat off his chair.
“Sounds great.” Millie said.
Jay looked at his partner, “Hailey?”
“I’m good, have fun.” She said, waving them off.
Jay nodded and Millie waved goodbye as they disappeared down stairs to the drive-by. “So…” Millie said as she hopped into the passenger seat of the truck.
“So?” Jay asked.
Millie sighed, her brother was so dense sometimes. “Hailey…”
Jay laughed, “Yeah, what about her?”
“Jay. In the past two weeks you have called me three times about her.”
Jay took a deep breath, he didn’t know how, but Millie could always see right through him, no matter how good the lie was. “And? She’s my partner.”
Millie laughed, “I know that excuse works for everyone else, but it doesn’t work for me.” She shifted in her seat to face him, “Plus, you called me about what to get her for Christmas, what I thought her favorite scent was and if asking her to go shopping with you was too much. Those aren’t really partner things Jay.”
Jay thought long and hard, trying to find something to say. “I hate it when you are right.”
“That must be why you are so grumpy all the time.” Millie teased.
They reached the local coffee shop, ordering quickly (and of course Jay still got Hailey a cup). Even though the walk from the building to the truck was brief, Millie still shivered. “Cold?” Jay asked, smirking.
“You know, after living in Washington for five years, you’d think I’d be used to Chicago winters.” She said, sighing at the heat in the truck.
Jay shook his head, “It’s the wind.”
They rode in comfortable silence for a little while before Millie spoke up. “I was thinking...maybe we could go to Mom and Dad’s grave later? It’s been a while since we cleaned it.”
Jay nodded immediately, “I took tomorrow off, we could go in the morning after Will gets off shift.” He looked at his sister for approval..
“Yeah, that’d be nice.” Millie said, taking a breath. She sipped her hot drink, watching the building fly by.
“Hey Mill.” Jay said, grabbing her attention. “I’m really glad you’re home.”
Millie smiled softly, “Yeah, me too.”
A/N: I am SO so excited for this story. I’ve been toying with the idea for a while now and I have finally have the time to write it! I know the backstory is a little jacked, but with a new character and timeline, I needed it to make sense. Also, I can’t decide if this is a fire or pd story, so let’s just call it both! Thanks for reading! <3

Party Mask
Whoops my hand slipped here’s another one :)
Amaya doesn’t like parties but she supposes she’s glad she was at this one
Amaya + William fluff
Tumblr media
Amaya has no clue how she allowed Mimosa to get her to tag along. Gatherings like this usually spelled trouble and over the years she’s been a Magic Knight not once has she attended knowing how rowdy they were- courtesy of her Captain’s hangover rambles.
With a sigh she lifted what she hoped was a stronger drink to her lips. She pulled the cup away from her lips that wasn’t the nicest beverage but at least it was alcohol. Who knows maybe she’ll forget she was ever here. Wouldn’t that be a miracle?
“Hi Amaya!” Asta exclaimed as he and Yuno noticed the woman sitting by herself in the corner. Her table really only had her glass, William’s glass and Mimosa’s food for safe watching.
“Asta! Shh I don’t want people to spot me.” She hushed playfully. The magicless boy laughed.
“Why at the party if not to party?” Yuno asked.
“Mimosa.” She answered. “I don’t like parties I think they are a waste of time. So I’m compensating.” She waved her half filled cup around. It wasn’t really a lie she did think parties were nonsense but they also scared her, reminded her of her life in Harlow Manor.
“Klaus said you didn’t often join gatherings of any kind especially family ones.” Yuno said.
Amaya’s nose scrunched.
“I have a brother that’s it no other family and he’s busy.”
“I’m sorry he didn’t mean that to sound blunt. Do you want company?” Asta asked. Amaya gave a soft smile.
“If you two were of drinking age maybe.” She laughed. “Go mingle and make friends it’s good for you.” She dismissed them with a smile.
Her silence didn’t last long as someone new sat across from her. She sighed heavily hoping that was enough to get that she doesn’t want to talk.
“What’s a beautiful lady like you doing here on your own?” No apparently not. She glared at him, blond hair, cocky grin. Mantis cloak.
“Watching her Captain’s drink.” She grunted.
“You should be up partying.” He suggested.
“No.” Her eyes locked with his nearby Captain.
“Come on-“
“Jack!” She motioned for him to come over.
“Hello Amaya. Is Sekke bothering you? Kekeke.” He laughed. Sekke as she now knows went white as paper- she almost laughed.
“Yeah can you make him fuck off.”
“Go.” Jack said with a crazed grin. Off the bug went.
“Thanks Jack.” She said tilting her now empty cup towards him in appreciation. He laughed (keke’d?) and ruffled her hair. She scowled. “We’re friends but that doesn’t mean you can mess with my hair.”
She was quick to let the scarlet tendrils fall before gathering them to the side to make a quick braid making the Green Mantis Captain laugh once more before walking off- something about pissing off Yami.
Please. She hoped no one else would come over- maybe William? Yeah and he can tell her to go home considering he hasn’t been drinking maybe he’ll wisen up and they can go. No her Captain hadn’t looked at her all night par dropping off his drink a few times. She pursed her lips in annoyance she just wanted to leave.
“You’ll get wrinkles if you keep your face like that.” Vanessa said. “What’s wrong Dawnie?”
“I wanna go back to my room.” She grumbled drowning herself in the new drink Vanessa brought.
“Alone?” She teased. Amaya snorted.
“Yeah and who’d accompany me Ness? You?”
“Darling if we swung that way I would.” The women fell into a fit of giggles. Amaya sighed again.
“Seriously though I don’t want to be here.”
“I said that the first time we met.” Vanessa quipped. “You turned to me and said that’s nice but right now it doesn’t matter because you’re here anyway.”
Amaya groaned at the memory. They’d met during a mission where Yami had convinced her to join Vanessa, himself and Finrall on a mission to collect missing people from giant spider caves. The red head shivered not and entirely pleasant memory.
“Don’t use my words against me.” She pouted.
“Come on why don’t you just leave if you don’t want to be here?”
“Captain Vangeance-“
“What happened to William?” Amaya shot a look. “Okay sorry continue.”
“-has to know I’m leaving if I do. Plus I’m still watching his slowly emptying glass… I’m on my seventh and he’s on his fourth.” She huffed.
“Remind me why you aren’t the vice captain?”
“Perfect pretty boy Langris gets whatever he wants.” She joked. “I’m happy to fill in I don’t know about permanent vicing.” She shrugged honestly. The new liquid was stronger, it burnt her throat.
“It’s good right? Nicked it from the Silva table.”
“Fuck it’s strong. It’s good remind me to hunt it down next time Klaus’ group does something destructive with yours.”
“As long as I can join-“
“Definitely.”
“Vanessa stop fraternising with the enemy!” A drunk Magna exclaimed making the women laugh. “Oh it’s just Ama hewwooo.”
“Hello.”
“I’ll leave you and your drink be to take care of this.” Vanessa snickered.
“Good idea.”
Alone again. Really she couldn’t decide if she liked the company or her thoughts better either way she still had a drink in her hand. Her silver-grey eyes scanned the room, everyone else seemed to be having fun unlike her. She just couldn’t get passed her mental block of everything that happened when she was younger- maybe one day she would- stop. She shook her head this isn’t the time or place to think about that.
Yuno seemed to be having a good time with Asta being the brothers they were it was nice to see them behaving civil sometimes. Mimosa was with them playfully smiling and talking to Asta- Amaya smiled at that she knew the girl had a crush on him and it was sweet really. Noelle was nearby doing whatever that creepy angry-jealous stare was towards Asta. Amaya frowned at that. Klaus was drowning himself in snacks surprisingly which made anyone who knew him well stifle their laughter. Langris was glaring at his brother from across the room and Amaya felt the urge to mess with him crawl it’s way up her spine.
Her eyes scanned the room again this time her brows furrowed where did Will-
“Enjoying the gathering?” Amaya jumped almost spilling her drink with that. Her free hand was pressed to her heart. Purple eyes stared down at her with a mischievous glint. He knew he’d startle her.
“Not particularly if I’m honest.” William tilted his head to the side clearly a brow would be risen if he didn’t wear his mask. “Don’t like parties. Never have.”
“Why is that?”
“Nothing party pleasant.” She shrugged nursing her drink awkwardly.
“Well I’m partial to leaving if you are?” Her head snapped towards William who offered his usual kind smile.
“Please.” She breathed before quickly chugging the remains of her drink,
“Come along then.”
“So.” William began making sure Amaya was settled in the broom with him. “Why did you tag along if you don’t like parties?”
“Mimosa convinced me and being a noble takes the magic out of parties.” William paused and turned his head back towards her. Out of the five years they’ve known each other not once had she mentioned that. He considered themselves friends.
“A noble?”
“Huh? Why so shocked I thought the name Amaya Harlow was pretty obvious.”
“I apologise but no.”
“Oh. That’s fine it’s not worth worrying over I’d rather not be associated with it. I’m just Amaya Captain.”
“William please you’ve known me long enough to call me that.”
“What? Does Captain and sir not float your boat?” She teased. William’s cheeks flared thankfully his mask hid that- he hoped. “Plenty other names, leader, boss, hmm.”
“Stop your teasing.” He ushered only making her laugh more as her arms tightened around him.
“William?” He hummed in response, “Why are we going back to the base by broom?”
“For one you’ve been drinking and don’t trust you won’t fall asleep outside and I want to show you something first… if you remember it that is.” He joked.
“One- that only happened once and I’m not even drunk thank you. Two- Depends on if I find it worth remembering.” She said, her chin resting on his shoulder as she watched the trees wave in the breeze. She hummed softly, a lullaby her nursemaids sung to her and her brother. William smiled as he flew them behind the base to a small clearing. Amaya’s eyes narrowed, she trusted her Captain without any doubt but she was confused as to where they were going.
“Here we are.” He said allowing her to get off the broom and step towards a rose bush.
“A rose bush?”
“Amaya we’ve been friends for a while yes?”
“Yes. Why?” She turned around moonlight catching the scarlet braid. William bit his lip her wide silver eyes watching him carefully. Slowly he reached for his mask.
“I trust you, just as I trust Yami, Fuegoleon, Julius and Marx. So please allow me to show you what’s behind the mask.”
“William- you don’t have too.” She said brows furrowed. He smiled that kind smile, the one that always comforted her, as he lifted the mask away and dropped it beside the broom.
He shut his eyes not daring to see any pity or shame or disgust. Amaya stepped towards him. Eyes taking in each mark and shape, the colour of his hair and where the scar stopped.
“This is worth remembering.” She whispered. Slowly William opened his eyes, fear still lingered in his as they connected to her calm ones.
No pity.
No shame.
No disgust.
She seemed happy if anything. With a delicate hand she traced the edge of the scar.
“You truly believe that? Do you not find it hideous?”
“William with or without the mask I trust who you are as a person. A scar doesn’t make a difference, whether an injury or curse they only thing that matters is you.” She smiled. “I have my own scars that I keep hidden, that I worry people would judge so I understand in some way.”
“Thank you.” He whispered. Amaya pulled him in for a hug, he hurried his face into her neck while she trailed her fingers soothingly through his hair.
“You’re not hideous either William Vangeance. In fact I find you rather handsome and I’m sure many would agree.”
“Don’t tease me Ama.” He grumbled into her neck. She only laughed at his retort.
“Make me.” She said. William’s arms moved from around her waist, hands settling on her hips before settling his forehead against hers.
“So I’m rather handsome am I?”
Her face bloomed a pretty shade of pink.
“I see how it is you tease.” She snickers stepping out of his hold.
“I’m the tease?” William laughs in surprise.
“Oh yes keeping such a handsome face from me it’s quite teasing.” She said eloquently. William’s face flushing more. “Now that I’ve seen it I’ll be in shambles without it in my life.”
“Now that’s being dramatic.”
“Is it? Oh Captain my poor heart cannot take such a handsome man hiding himself from me whatever shall I do?” She announced dramatically. “I simply cannot stand it. Captain I think I might just faint.”
“Amaya I’m warning you,” William joked. Taking a tentative step forward he saw the gleeful look on Amaya’s face.
“A warning gods my body cannot take it, take me into your arms my dear captain for I shall die a happy woman to see your handsome face as I perish.” She stepped back again the grin somehow widening as she did.
“I believe you had plenty to drink Ama-“
“Don’t look at me like that I can’t stand it too handsome I shall go! It was nice knowing you world for my eyes have been blessed.” The scarlet haired woman continued to tease before dashing to the side of the clearing towards the base. William was quick to pull his mask back on and rush after her. Amaya’s laugh echoed through the small thick of trees making William grin.
They reached the base with Ama giggling as she stopped in the garden for a moment, William was quick to trap her in his arms and spin her around. A simple caught you hung in the air as they giggled.
After a moment they paused and she looked back at William. She pouted.
“Aw you put it back on.”
“I’m not quite ready for anyone else to see.” That seemed to appease her as her fingers danced along the intricate design.
“Captain? Amaya.” Within a flash they were apart.
“Oh hello everyone what are you doing out here?” Amaya asked as innocently as possible.
“Coming home from the party.” Langris said with a scowl. “What we’re you doing with the Captain.”
“She fell. She did get quite drunk I was just keeping her steady.”
“Yeah what Wi-The Captain said.” Amaya cringed she hoped that was kind of plausible. It definitely wasn’t. “Captain, I should head to my quarters now thank you for keeping me from falling. Mimosa shall we?”
“Okay Commander.” Amaya’s nose scrunched- she told Mimosa and everyone to only call her that during missions…
“Goodnight everyone.” Amaya waved feigning a slightly drunken walk.
Mimosa giggled to Amaya about how cute they looked making the twenty-five year old blush, William however wasn’t so lucky with the light teasing. Yuno found it most entertaining.
“So should we tell everyone Amaya is off limits now?”

Ranked: Mother of the Year (Choices) Main Characters
I can’t sleep so that means I need to make another list that I’m not going to proofread before I post, right? Of course it does. But before we start, please remember this is my opinion on who I liked best. Not who impacted the story the most, not who was the best written fictional character of all time, yada yada. This is my personal opinion of the characters I liked best.
Spoilers WILL be featured below. You have been warned.
#13 -- Tallulah Copeland
Tallulah is a parent to a child at Bernhardt Academy, a friend of Vanessa Blackwood, and an active member of the PTA. Hugo is her partner.
This woman. I would flat forget this woman existed until she would show up again just to wreak havoc on MC’s day, usually at someone else’s urging. Every single time she spoke, I just wanted it to be over and she is just an awful, AWFUL person. She’s also the only awful person in this book who never pretends to be nice and/or never apologizes for her actions. Just an all around nasty person.
#12 -- Hugo
Hugo is a parent of a child at Bernhardt Academy and an active member of the PTA. Tallulah is his significant other.
If you’re actually reading these little blurbs, you have to be wondering “MagnoliaPip? How in the hell is Hugo ranked lower than two other unmentionables in this story?”
Thank you for asking, no one ever.
Put frankly, Hugo just annoyed the crap out of me. I know that’s supposed to be part of his character, but it went above and beyond the scope of acceptable annoyance. I grew to hate every second he was speaking. He never really contributed anything to the plot other than some irritating drivel. He wasn’t an antagonist, but he also wasn’t a pleasing good guy. He’s also the reason I’m considering not re-reading this book again right away like I want to.
#11 -- Guy Ledford
This man. This. Man. THIS MAN!
This part is going to include major spoilers, y’all, so if you haven’t read it and are still intending to, skip away now!! Again, major spoilers from here on out kids.
Guy Ledford is your main character’s ex-husband who has been absent for four years since the start of the book and wants to reconnect with his daughter. He is also a CEO of a snack food company/app, Nomme. He is the main antagonist of the book.
The reason I didn’t rank him lower is he genuinely adds something to the plot. He IS the plot. He’s the reason this book exists. However, he is such a scumbag he deserves nothing. He feels like a trope for quite a lot of the time, but at least he’s not physically abusive like a true trope could have been (at least, I never noticed him being physically abusive). Just, you know, a gaslighting, manipulative, arrogant, rude, selfish son of a-
I also love that they named him “Guy”. I’ve only ever met one man named this in my life, so it’s funny to me that they named this jerk “Guy” so it’s not only the most generic sounding name (did his parents also get a dog named “Dog” and a cat named “Kitty”?), but also one that a lot of men won’t likely have so they don’t have to get name checked in relation to him.
I like that you can get a good outcome (Guy ends up with joint custody with visitations  every weekend and having to back pay) without spending diamonds in this game as long as you make the right choices, but for those who DID spend all of the diamonds, I would have liked to have seen Guy end up with worse. I would have liked to see, if you made most of the right choices and bought all of the diamond stuff, him ending up with every other weekend or maybe just visitation. I know he’s trying to be a good dad (but still an absolutely terrible human being), but every weekend seems like so much when your daughter is in school.
#10 -- Augustus Blackwood
August Blackwood is one of Vanessa Blackwood’s sons and is a student at Bernhardt Academy.
I’m not going to spend a lot of time on this one. But he hurt my daughter and that’s enough. I would have liked to have seen him fleshed out a little bit more beyond being basically just a schoolyard bully. His motivations for his actions are hinted on, but nothing is really ever done and he’s mostly just a prop for something to hurt your daughter.
#9 -- Vanessa Blackwood
Vanessa Blackwood is the president of the PTA, a single mom, and a lawyer and becomes an antagonist to your character.
I’m probably going to get hate for this, but I want to like Vanessa. Obviously, she’s hateful and offensive, in some very, very unredeemable ways, but there’s something about characters like that which makes me want to forgive them and teach them how to be better. How to rehabilitate their bitterness. I felt it with Olivia Nevrakis, I felt it with Victoria Fontaine, and I know certain people in the fandom felt it with Becca Davenport and Poppy Min-Sinclair.
**DISCLAIMER** Keep in mind, I’m not trying to excuse homophobia and racism here. They are both despicable things and should be accounted for. However, after having grown up in a homophobic and racist home and learning to leave that shit in the dust by the time I was eighteen and SLOWLY teaching my family to do the same over the course of the last 10 years, I believe people can change if you give them room and help to. Not everyone will, not many people will, but I believe in giving the chance. We need to force people to take responsibility and learn from their mistakes. Should the book have been approved as a series rather than a stand alone, I think this might have been a very real option within book 2.
#8 -- Ajax “AJ” Blackwood
Ajax Blackwood is one of Vanessa Blackwood’s sons and a student at Bernhardt Academy.
AJ is the quieter of the Blackwood boys, AJ is a shy kid who hates that his brother is mean just as much as your daughter does. He finally has enough within the book and stands up to him, which was more than a little satisfying and he does seem to have a genuinely good heart. I think it would be so cute for him, your daughter, and Luz to be their own adorable trio of friends.
#7 -- Levi Schuler
Levi Schuler is your neighbor who helps save the day for MC early on in the book and becomes a friend to both her and your daughter. He is also one of your love interests.
And if this list is going to invoke hate from the masses, it will be this entry that does it. I know how loved Levi is. And I love him too! I just find him, and his musician plot, to be a bit tiring. He’s a wonderfully supportive friend/love interest, just about one of the nicest people, and he’s great with your daughter. I swear, all of the love interests in this book would be god tier in any book. It’s truly unfair to the others that we got three amazing ones here along with a great cast of characters. However, since that did happen, Levi will sit here at #7. He can have a consolatory rugelach while I continue on.
#6 -- Faye Devore
Faye Devore is your ex-husband’s new girlfriend, a younger social media influencer.
I loved Faye. Right from the start, I loved Faye. I prayed they weren’t going to make this into one of those books where we were supposed to hate the “other woman” because those plots are old, outdated, and overused. Thankfully, MOTY lets us skirt right around it and we end up with a wonderful character like Faye, who is the human definition of having the best intentions.
She gets on well with your daughter, even pointing out to MC at one point that she thinks of her like a little sister, and goes above and beyond to make her happy. She is genuinely upset about going against MC’s wishes about your daughter appearing on social media and doesn’t appear to want to cause any harm or hard feelings with MC at any point during the book. In fact, she wants to be friends.
I would have loved for this and for it to be fleshed out more, again, if we had ever gotten a book 2. I’m also that jerk who would have totally romanced her in a replay and would have emptied my wallet to get a scene in that hypothetical book 2 where Guy finds out. Take that homophobe!
#5 -- Dr. Eiko Matsunaga
Dr. Eiko Matsunaga is a science teacher who teaches at the private school your daughter goes to and becomes friendly with MC because of your daughter. She is also one of your love interests.
If I would have had a teacher like Dr. Matsunaga when I was in school, maybe I would have cared about science at any point during my childhood. Eiko is so incredibly smart but has a heart of gold. She could be off teaching at colleges or writing published journals, but she’s teaching elementary science at a private school and honestly enjoying herself! She wants to see children succeed and will give any child who wants to do so, like your daughter, all of the help they need.
I want to romance her. I want to be her friend. I want it all because I’m selfish even when I don’t because I could never possibly be worthy of the supremacy that is Eiko. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
#4 -- Your Daughter / Zoey
Your daughter is 9 years old at the start of the book and desperately wants to be an astronaut. She is a science whiz and moves from public school to Bernhardt Academy at the beginning of the book to kickstart her education.
It makes me so sad that I will never actually have this child. “Zoey” is just so smart and funny and sweet and I love her so much. I spent so many diamonds on her. She’s a pixelated little bundle of amazing and I would die for her. That’s it.
#3 -- Alma Velasco
Alma Velasco is your neighbor, best friend, and (for part of the time) co-worker.
What did our character do to deserve such an amazing ride-or-die friend like Alma? She never disbelieves MC, is forever supportive as a shoulder to cry on and a supplier of good wine, and also helps MC out of more than one pinch. Seriously an amazing friend, and I wish we could have done something equally amazing for her to reciprocate.
#2 -- Thomas Mendez
Thomas Mendez is a lawyer and a single dad who becomes friends with MC very early on in the book. He is also one of your three love interests.
A big reason for why Thomas is at #2 is because of who #1 is but we’ll get there in a second.
There’s also something about Thomas that speaks to me as a person. It’s more than just being interested as a love interest or as a friend. There’s something about who he is. His awkwardness, his humor, his kindness and his generosity all make him someone I envy as much as I admire.
He takes on MC’s case pro bono when he doesn’t have to. He shrugs it off like it’s no big deal, but stepping back and looking at the it, by all accounts he was walking into a handily losing situation. He was also super busy at this time being a single parent himself and working on his class action lawsuit. That’s not even saying anything about him still grieving for Soledad.
However, the biggest reason I love Mr. Mendez is...
#1 -- Luz Mendez
Luz Mendez is a student at Bernhardt Academy who becomes best friends with your daughter early in the book. She is a soccer and art fan.
This little girl is the best thing I have ever read in my entire life. She made the entire book. Every character that came before her pales in comparison to her majesty. She is a goddamn queen and deserves everything.
Every scene with her is gold and I wish we had more. This little girl was completely willing to curb stomp someone with her cleats at the courthouse if something would have happened to your daughter. She is so aggressively herself and it is a joy to see. The relationship between her and her father is what really kept me going through the book’s more difficult spots. There is such true love and acceptance there, as well as the drive and desire to do better for the other than I just...There is really no way for me to properly explain the perfection that is Luz Mendez so I guess you’ll just have to read it yourself.
---
I’m not sure why it took me so long to start reading Mother of the Year (MOTY), but I’m so glad I did. In 3 days flat I binged the entire book, wasted so many accumulated diamonds, and had the time of my life. The cast of characters in MOTY is perfect and I wanted to rank them according to my opinion on which ones were the best. I ranked all of the characters I found to be profound enough to matter to the storyline or that MC or “Daughter” had enough interactions with to matter. As a result, there are several characters who didn’t make this list.
Sound off below if you wish.

- alright doof just suggest actual murder, it was of a chicken but still.
- the canoe, when phineas says it we trust him, he can do what ever he wants

Witness – Upstead AU
Tumblr media
PART ONE: MEETING YOU WAS FATE
Hailey couldn’t believe it. Well, she could believe it, since she saw it happen right in front of her eyes. But she really could not believe that she would be the one to witness such a thing.
She was walking to her car from her family’s Greektown cafe and bakery, where she worked, and she heard a rustling in the alleyway across the street. She turned, but couldn’t see anything. She had just put her key into her car door to unlock it when she almost jumped out of her skin.
A gun shot.
That she knew she heard.
Before she could even blink, the gunman was fleeing the alley. He was panicking, but not only from the crime he had committed. No, Hailey had a feeling he wasn’t from around the area, because if he were, he would’ve ran the opposite way, as the back of the alleyway would dump you onto a service road, which would make the perfect getaway.
No, this guy ran to his right, forward, and even crazier, in the direction of Hailey. She had tried to avert her eyes, but she felt frozen with fear as she heard strangled sounds coming from said crime scene.
Oh god, was someone dying? Shit. She couldn’t just leave them there. She had to help.
She blamed it on her masters in psychology, which she was just two more months away from completing. She was splitting her time between school, and work. It was actually how she met her now-roommate, Vanessa. They studied at CCU together.
Hailey whipped out her cell phone and dialed 911. She was talking with the dispatcher when she cursed herself for not shining her flashlight in the dark alley. She flipped it on, and in front of her was a man, couldn’t be more than 5-10 years older than she, lying on the ground.
His words were mangled, but it took Hailey a moment to realize it was because blood was spilling from his mouth. She held her breath, as if that was going to help something. She was trying to find where the actual wound was, but she was having a difficult time.
The man’s fancy suit jacket was covering his arm that put pressure on his abdomen. Shit, that’s not good, Hailey thought to herself as she tried to assist. “Yes, at 501 S Racine. Yes, he’s been shot in the stomach, he’s bleeding really bad, please hurry.”
“Ma’am, paramedics and police are in route.”
Hailey heard the dispatcher as she dropped her phone, not caring where it landed, and turned her attention to the dying man in front of her.
“Sir? Hey, the ambulance is on its way,” she tried, but he wasn’t responsive. “Hey,” she said with a bit more authority. “Do you know who did this to you?”
He barely moved his head up and down, but that was enough for Hailey. “Who? Who did this?”
“My,” he croaked, his speech cut off by the gurgling of blood. Hailey idled helplessly as the man’s eyes shifted closed.
“No, no, no. Hey, hey!” She exclaimed, ears perking up when she heard the sound of the sirens. “Sir, please hold on. They’re almost here.”
She saw a myriad of flashing lights, red, blue, and white. She had the most idiotic thought when she looked at it. It reminds me of the flag. As fast as it entered her mind, it was gone as she screamed for the first responders to get over here. She wasn’t sure if they could see them from the street.
She saw shadows along the brick wall, rushing to meet her own. She didn’t expect to be pushed and prodded, but she supposed it was what needed to be done. She was plucked up by a paramedic, while 2 tended to the man. He was up on a gurney and into the first waiting truck before the one that stood by Hailey spoke.
“Ma’am? Are you hurt?”
Hailey hadn’t spoken yet, but when she brought her hands up to her face to brush her hair out of her eyes, she found them to be covered in blood. His blood. She felt her breath come in spurts, and she felt like she couldn’t move, let alone say anything. So much blood.
“Okay, we’re gonna get you to Chicago Med just to be safe,” the medic told her, leading her zombie-like frame over to the second ambulance. “Did you see what happened?”
Hailey parted her lips only a tad, still unable to form the simplest of words: yes. So, in a disturbing twist of events, she took her bloodied pointer finger, and etched a “Y” onto the back of her hand, which was clear of blood. She felt like she was watching herself do these things: showing her hand to the medic, hearing calls for a cop to follow them to Med, and a distinct two taps on the back of their truck before it propelled forward.
What the hell just happened?
——————-
Jay wasn’t the hugest fan of the late night calls that Intelligence seemed to always pick up. Well, at least not lately. Seemed like he barely clocked in two hours of sleep a night because he was always on the clock at work.
He wiped the sleep from his eyes as he surveyed the remnants of the crime scene. They couldn’t call it a murder yet, because as it stood, their victim was on his way to the hospital. Blood littered the brick wall, some trickling down to the unevenly paved cement ground.
He rubbed the back of his neck as he took it all in. Why the hell would someone be shot here? It was just outside the dinkiest shopping lot, with a bakery across the street, a gas station on the corner, and a couple of random stores in between.
“Halstead,” Voight’s voice echoed over his own thoughts. “Get to Med. You’re interviewing the witness.”
Jay opened his mouth, wanting to at least get someone else to come with him. Ever since his ex-partner and subsequent ex-girlfriend Erin left a few years back, he’d been rotated through all the rest of the Intelligence Unit. He’d felt most comfortable with Adam, as the two were able to dick around in their free time to take the edge off the homicides and robberies they dealt with every day.
But, because Adam was a bit – according to his fiancée Kim, a lot – dismal, he’d managed to get stuck with a needle while chasing after a suspect a few days back. He was holed up at the apartment he shared with Kim until the end of this week, when his tests would come back. Just to make sure he didn’t catch anything. Adam had called it a “free vacation”; Kim called it “the dumbest decision he’s made in a while.”
So, he was left without his usual buddy, and everyone else had already been assigned a job. Kevin and Kim were out canvassing, meanwhile his sergeant and sergeant Platt were knee deep in the middle of a discussion. It made sense that the only other missing piece was the witness statement. The medics had whisked them away before anyone could speak to them. Jay didn’t even know if he would be speaking with a burly guy or a timid girl.
Only one way to find out, he figured as he climbed back into his truck. Off to Chicago Med, he went.
When he arrived a short time later, he saw a flash of red hair, which meant his brother was making his rounds. “Will!”
The redheaded older Halstead turned at the sound of his name. His face softened for a split second when he saw it was his younger police brother, but fell serious once again when he realized why Jay was there. He’d not been in the operating room while Dr. Marcel was working on their gunshot victim, but, he knew by hearing the experienced surgeon call “time of death” that they couldn’t save him.
Him turned out to be interim Superintendent Jason Crawford. And Will, being the nice guy that he is, would break the news to his brother.
“Jay,” he said carefully as he walked over to his brother. “He didn’t make it. I’m sorry.”
“Dammit!” Jay said, slamming his fist against the nurses station. Maggie gave him one of her looks, and Jay mouthed a “sorry.”
“Shit. Will, who was it?”
“Ex-superintendent Jason Crawford.”
Jay just stood there for a second, mouth slightly agape. Well, fuck. This couldn’t get any worse.
He slapped a hand over his mouth as he began to pace. Will’s hands steadied his shoulders, making him focus again. “Jay. Go make yourself useful and interview the witness. I think April’s finishing her vitals now,” he nodded his head across the way. Jay’s head swiveled, following until he saw April’s coiled hair and nurses uniform.
Got it.
“Yeah,” he said, giving Will’s shoulder a quick pat of gratitude. “Thanks.”
He made his way over towards April, and when he asked her how they were doing, he was surprised when she said that “she’s good to go. No injuries, just shock. Blood was not hers, it was your victim’s. All yours, detective.”
He played off his surprise with a cough. “Thanks, April.”
He finally turned to face this mysterious woman, and was met with the brightest blue eyes he’d ever seen. Her blonde waves were mussed, but he assumed that was from the hospital staff poking at her all night. Her lips were pursed, and she sat calmly on the hospital table.
“Hi,” was the first thing that tumbled out of his mouth, and if it was remotely possible to stick his foot in his mouth whilst standing up, you’d better believe he would’ve done so. Really, that’s all you got? He tried to pull it together so he wasn’t just gawking at her. “I’m Detective Halstead, with the Intelligence Unit. Can you tell me what happened?”
She blinked, running a hand through her hair. “Yeah, sure. I was walking to my car, and I heard a noise. I wasn’t thinking much of it until I heard a gunshot. Once I remembered how to use my legs again, I ran over to where the guy sat, er, lied. I asked him if he knew who did this to him, and he nodded – well, as best he could. He only said “my” before he passed out, or went into shock, I don’t know. I’m not a doctor. But, if I had to guess, it was someone close to him, because a close range shot like that suggests they were within arms lengths of each other.”
Jay was in the midst of scribbling down her answers when his ears perked up at her suggestion. He felt a small smirk play on his lips, and he miserably failed to tamper it down. “Not a doctor, huh?”
“Nope,” she responded, popping the “p.” Sensing he’d want an explanation, she tacked on: “Future psychologist.” She nodded, the smallest of smiles gracing her lips. She held out her hand, and Jay had forgotten what the custom meant. Damn her prettiness.
He regrouped, placing his hand against hers to shake. Their fingers connected, and even though it was a simple handshake, he’d not felt anything during all the other hands he’d shook in his lifetime. Not a one.
“Hailey Upton.” Even her name was pretty.
He locked his eyes on hers. “Detective Halstead, but you can call me Jay.”

I'll just throw this bomb of asks and question so sorry in advance: like I know is a oneshot but I want to know more about the story!! What is happening?
I agree eclipse is a bean and I love her and Kai (who is also a been)
Your mermaids are so varied, pretty and awesome!!
For me the main difference between TLC Ru and the Ru from your new spinoff is that the former is like "can't believe I'm fish, I don't want to be fish" while the later is like "can't believe I'm fish, guess I'm fish now"
And loved you oneshot for ghost and the refuse!!!
So manyyyyyy 8D
OKay so; I assume you mean the oneshot I posted that Ru had batwings ye?
Ru is part of an avian species; however normally they have elgant bird like plumage. Vanessa got angry with him and found an old spell that changed him into the bat winged version in the fic. He was thrown out of their society for being ‘fallen’ (despite he didn’t do anything) and had to go live with humans and such. Humans don’t trust the winged folk easily (as the wing folk tend to have a holier than thou attitude towards walking humans)
He met Eclipse who took pity and gave him some food and a warm scarf when she was walking to work once and they ended up becoming friends because she doesn’t seem to view him the same way.
He’s a tsun and will do things to aide her despite saying its not like that and she kinda gets used to reading him.
He learns later Eclipse was BORN an avian. Eclipse was born with rare wings that were both bird and fae; this would have allowed her to push Vanessa from the throne when older because the fae were the ones who blessed the original avians giving them their whole ‘better than walkers’ attitude. (also Alicia heard something about Eclipse would bring the end of their family line and tried to get her killed but the wing cutter took her home instead. She grew up with Conductor and his family)
So Alicia had Eclipse’s wings removed and she was cast out. Eclipse has no idea about this. This is something Ru learned when Vanessa came to see if he “wanted to apologize” (for nothing he did so he clearly didn't)
He tells Vanessa to take a hike. When Vanessa gets mad, Eclipse ends up slicing her wings off with a halberd. Thus proving the prophecy right. Because without her wings Vanessa can’t get back to the capital of avians and the curse she put on Ru starts to come undone because she’s no longer ‘blessed’ to use magic.
Eclipse is a bit shocked to see Ru’s actual form and wings (he has large, very large black raven wings)  And He decides he’s still not going back and stays with her.
so that’s what’s going on. the oneshot was basically just him being a tsundere when he was “courting” her.
Much beans!!! so bean!!! my beans!!!
Ahhhh thank you!!! I really try to keep them distinct, like you can defs see some of my favorite mermaid design choices in them but I like to think they are unique enough (I love long tails and trailing side fins lol. something is so pleasing)
Yeah I guess that’s tru! one kinda fought it the other went “well shit might as well get used to it”
ahhh thank you!! tbh I really like that story because it’s a rare case of mostly fluff with minimum angst. the most angst happened prior to the plot and if you read closely can learn what happened to BOTH Ru and Eclipse before they met!!
Like the reason Eclipse is a recluse is actually hidden IN the story itself.
She used to date Ru’s younger brother (Sena makes a comment to goat at the end and goat says he’s nothing like his brother. This is why Sena was so HOSTILE to him off the bat as he looks like Morgan. Eclipse didn’t notice as they have different last names and she doesn’t think Ru looks like Morgan. But her vision of Morgan is severely warped from the abuse she suffered. She’ll never learn this fact of them being related because Ru doesn’t even know he had a younger brother. He was born AFTER he vanished.) but he abused her and she ended up with a lot of scars, and the main cause of her scars was she was lit on fire (you can get this from how she flinches and won’t use the gas stove)
And the reason Ru was a ghost is also told. and not just with Ghost.
He hesitates going into the bedroom due to bad memories, the basement makes him worried and he knows he wasn’t remembered or seen when police came. The house is located away from any neighbors and is on the border of the woods.
When Vanessa locked him up she would ignore him. He felt less human and the forest helped him. That’s why acting human again saved him. otherwise he’d have stayed that way until he just. faded away forever.

I just wondering if you could do a headcanon based on Champagne Problems by Taylor Swift, cuz im sorta in love with that song but i dont mind who. Thx so much, u dont have to tho ❤
Yes! Champagne Problems is my absolute favorite song on the album along with Tis The Damn Season so I’m very excited! This is a Keely/Luis fic, which I've never done so I’m confused too don’t worry, but it does make sense I assure you. Also, there are ticket men and balls so um,,, have fun deciding what time period this is in because I don’t know. Enjoy!! Also there are notes at the end.
You booked the night train for a reason So you could sit there in this hurt
”Are you sure you want the three am train?” the ticket man asked. No, Luis was not sure and he had half a mind to go back to Keely’s house as fast as he could, but he didn’t have that choice anymore.
”Yes, thank you.” Luis and the man exchanged money and tickets.
”Well, have a good night then,” the man said.
”Doubtful,” Luis muttered as he sat on a bench to wait for the train.
Bustling crowds or silent sleepers You're not sure which is worse
Luis ran his hand over the ring box in his pocket as he waited in the silence. It was strange, to be able to hear his own thoughts when an hour ago he was surrounded by so many people he could hardly hear Keely’s voice.
Because I dropped your hand while dancing
His hand still tingled, where hers used to be. He could still feel the way her fingers slid along his palms for the last time as she spun away from him.
Left you out there standing Crestfallen on the landing
Luis could still feel the snow on his coat and on the knee of his best pants. He could feel the biting cold on his cheeks as he watched her blubber apologies he couldn’t hear.
Champagne problems
He leaned against the railing of the balcony as he watched her drown cup after cup of the champagne he knew her family always bought.
Your mom's ring in your pocket
The box he had warmed in his palms and opened to the cold felt heavy in his hands. The ring he had seen glint on his mother’s finger every day until it was too heavy for her  to bear was too painful to look at. He wanted to see it glint again, but the snow was in the way.
My picture in your wallet
Luis pulled out his wallet to see how much money he had, and if there was enough for the train when he saw the picture he always looked at: Keely, his mother, and himself laughing at his high school graduation. It was the last time his mother left the house.
Your heart was glass, I dropped it Champagne problems
Luis felt his heart shatter as Keely smashed the top of the next bottle in the hall downstairs.
You told your family for a reason You couldn't keep it in
Luis’s brothers made a beeline for him when he slowly walked down the stairs, his money where Keely’s hand should have been.
”Did she say yes?” Manny asked.
Luis didn’t answer. The look on his face was answer enough.
Your sister splashed out on the bottle Now no one's celebrating
Luis’s sister-in-law came towards them with a glass of wine in her hand.
“Did she say yes?”
Manny shook his head at his wife.
She dropped her glass, the red wine splashing onto her dress.
Dom Perignon, you brought it No crowd of friends applauded
Cooper handed Luis the bottle of wine Luis had brought earlier that afternoon when he entered the kitchen.
“Are we celebrating?” Nate asked.
Luis shook his head.
Your hometown skeptics called it Champagne problems
Vanessa Merriman, Luis’s friend from childhood laughed a short humorless laugh as she pulled herself up onto the counter, her ball gown fluffed to one side.
”It’d call it too much wine if you asked me.”
”I’m sorry Luis,” Bronwyn added, pressing a gloved hand against his arm. He shook it off.
You had a speech, you're speechless
He had a speech planned. He had wanted to thank his friends for supporting him. For reminding him how much his relationship with Keely had helped him grow as a person.
Love slipped beyond your reaches
“I loved her,” was all he could say. Olivia, Vanessa, and Bronwyn pulled him into a hug, their arms around him as his shoulders shook and the bottle slipped out of his hands, staining his shoes and the hems of their dresses.
And I couldn't give a reason
”Did she tell you why?” Kris asked.
Luis shook his head.
Champagne problems
Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Vanessa miming drinking to Kris, who nodded with pursed lips.
Your Midas touch on the Chevy door
Luis could see her new car through the window of the kitchen. He could see the handle he pulled on to open the door for her whenever they went for drives. It was the only thing not covered in snow.
November flush and your flannel cure
Keely had been shivering the first time they exited that car five weeks ago. They were going to their old dorm for the last time with their friends to visit his younger brother. Without a second thought, he pulled off his flannel jacket and wrapped it around Keely’s arms.
He didn’t have to think about much in their relationship.
"This dorm was once a madhouse"
Luis could still remember the day Vanessa dared them to a game of soccer in the halls when they all woke up with major hangovers. “What a mad house,” he had commented as everyone laughed.
I made a joke "well, it's made for me" how
The joke was a small one that they had all found amusing and then forgot about, until now.
“She really was mad huh?” Olivia asked.
“I guess.”
Evergreen, our group of friends
“She’s messed up everything,” Vanessa added.
Don't think we'll say that word again
“We won’t be us without Keely,” Bronwyn agreed as she wrapped her arms around Nate, who was leaning against the stove.
Luis didn’t question how they all agreed to drop Keely from their group. It seemed natural.
And soon they'll have the nerve to deck the halls That we once walked through
“Oh, sorry.” Everyone turned to look at Keely in her black dress and gloves.
“What do you want?” Olivia asked.
Keely’s eyes darkened. “This is my house. And I’m getting the Christmas decorations.”
They watched as Keely walked through the kitchen to the door that concealed the basement steps. Decorations felt odd for a time like this.
One for the money, two for the show I never was ready, so I watch you go
Luis stood and watched as she disappeared down the steps.
Sometimes you just don't know the answer Till someone's on their knees and asks you
“God, she wasted an eight year relationship,” Vanessa said, shaking her head.
Eight years. Luis didn’t know how badly he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her until she refused to.
"She would've made such a lovely bride What a shame she's fucked in the head", they said
His friends’ words were still in his head as he sat in the train station.
“She’s fucked up Luis, it’s not your fault.”
“There’s nothing you can do when someone like that makes up their mind.”
But you'll find the real thing instead
“Hello. May I sit with you?” Luis looked up to see a girl with a beautiful white gown and a green coat and cap standing in front of him. He could see her shining amber eyes, even though it was dark in the station.
“Do I know you?” Luis asked.
The girl smiled and nodded. “I left the same party as you. Keely’s? I’m Bronwyn’s younger sister.”
Luis knew he recognized the voice. “Maeve?”
“Yes.”
“Why are you here?”
“I needed to go home, and Bronwyn wasn’t ready yet. I’m not fond of Christmas parties.”
“Neither am I,” Luis said. Maeve laughed and fiddled with the skirt of her dress. It really was the prettiest dress Luis had ever seen.
“May I sit?”
“Of course.”
She'll patch up your tapestry that I shred
They sat and laughed for hours as they waited for the train, and Luis walked her home in the snow. Her shoes were soaked through so he carried her the last few blocks, and he fell in love as she laughed, her eyes shining.
And hold your hand while dancing
A year later, she wore the same gown as she had at the train station as they danced in her ballroom with the rest of their friends. After a while they found their way to her balcony overlooking her yard.
Never leave you standing Crestfallen on the landing With champagne problems
“Want a drink?”
“No thank you, Luis.”
“I’ll be right back.”
“No, I’ll come with.”
Your mom's ring in your pocket
He never got the wine though, because once they were in the middle of the ballroom, he was kneeling in front of her with his mother’s ring on her finger.
Her picture in your wallet
It might have been Vanessa who took the picture. Or maybe Cooper. They were never sure, but one copy was in his wallet and one was in her locket with their children until the day they died.
And you won't remember all my Champagne problems
They were toasted with glasses of champagne, and for the first time he wasn’t hurt by the sight. Tonight was a night for celebration. Not for heartache.
You won't remember all my Champagne problems
“I’m glad you didn’t marry Keely Luis my dear,” his mother told him at the wedding, the first time she was able to leave the house.
“Who?” Luis answered.
Notes:
It’s snowing idk why
They’re at Keely’s vacation house which is why Luis had to take a train back home
I hinted at it but Luis’s mom was sick when this happened, and better at the wedding
Also this was a mildly petty fic my goodness.
Also this happened in about eight different time frames/locations that I’ve woven into one fic: There’s Luis and Maeve at the train station, Keely and Luis at her house on the balcony overlooking the dancers, Luis talking to his brothers and sister in law, Luis and his friends at their dorm, Luis in the kitchen, Maeve and Luis on her balcony overlooking the yard, Maeve, Luis and friends in Maeve’s ballroom in her parents’ house, and then their wedding at the very end.
That wasn’t any clearer sorry
I hope you enjoyed!!!

Ebb and Flow Chap. 7 Disaster on Board
Hey everyone! Back for another chapter!
I tried to get this one done sooner, but work the past few weeks have been rough! I got longer hours, and the weekends are a big punch to the face! AKA SO BUSY!!! During those times my mind goes blank and I can’t get a single thing done in my stories other than a word, sentence or paragraph in. My days off from work, I’m drained from the weekends and need to rest and play videogames.
Despite all that, I was glad to get this chapter done! I made a bit of a reference to the Little Mermaid in this story as well as revealing a new potential ship!
Enjoy!!
On a small ship miles away from Subcon, a crew of people were setting up tables for a big celebration. While everyone was setting up a young girl with long blonde hair was looking out at the ocean board out of her mind. She let out a long sigh as her blonde hair, and fake mustache blew in the wind.
A boy, who looked two years older than her, was humming as he brought over a box of decorations. He saw the girl staring out into the ocean and went up to her. “Hey Mu, what’s wrong?” The boy asked. The girl didn’t reply and just looked out into the ocean. “Come on Mu, I can’t expect my cousin to be sad on her birthday.”
Mu gave a sigh. “No one showed up. Well, except you and Uncle Gio, but I invited the entire class to join and have an amazing time and they all ditched.” Mu felt like she was ready to cry as she told her cousin everything. She hoped a boat birthday party would have everyone show up, but nope.
The boy sighed and put his hand on her shoulder. “Hey even though no one showed up. We’re still going to have a fun time!” He exclaimed. “And if it makes you feel better, you could lie and tell everyone what they missed so they can feel guilty and promise to show up next year.”
This made Mu giggle a bit. “Thanks Timmy.”
“No problem.” He replied as he ruffled Mu’s head, which made her giggle. “Now come on, your mom is baking your cake and I want to see how it looks, and tastes.” Mu nodded and the two went inside the ship to check out Mu’s mother’s baking.
Not too far from the ship, Lucas, Hali, Willow and Vanessa were in the water. Willow was having fun getting used to using her fins, but Vanessa just sat on a rock as she watched her best friend enjoying the time of her life. Lucas took notice of Vanessa just sitting there and swam up to her. “Aren’t you going to join us?” He asked.
“I am, but isn’t just being a mermaid like regular swimming just breathing underwater and what not?” Vanessa replied.
“It’s not like that Vanessa!” Hali spoke up. “Being a mermaid also has survival in it. Not sure how you humans can survive big scary storms, garbage destroying your homes, or humans coming to capture you one by one!” She listed, overexaggerating all the disasters a mermaid can go through which horrified Vanessa. “So, it’s best you girls know.”
Vanessa rolled her eyes as Willow swam over to her. “Come on Nessa, it’s fun! You can swim gracefully!” She beamed. Vanessa sighed and slid off the rock and fell into the water.
“Well now that we are all here,” Hali started. “Let’s go exploring!” She then dived into the water splashing the older mermaids.
“H-hey! Hali! Wait!” Lucas shouted following after her. Willow and Vanessa looked at each other and nodded to follow after the mermaid siblings. In the ocean, Hali looked behind her brother and the girls before swimming off faster. Lucas and the girls tried to catch up to her, but the mermaid siblings were a bit faster than Vanessa and Willow. The two were getting exhausted following after the mermaid siblings, and had to stop to relax their fins. Lucas turned back and stopped seeing the girls had fallen behind. He turned back to see Hali was swimming back to them.
“Hey slowpokes why are you just floating there?” Hali asked. She then turned to see Vanessa and Willow slowly swimming to the siblings.
“Lucas,” Willow tried to catch her breath before continuing. “Your sister is a fast swimmer.”
Hali laughed nervously, and rubbed the back of her head. “Sorry. I'm a fast swimmer.” Soon her laughter was put on hold when she heard chirps coming from a distance. Hali started to swim again following where the chirps were coming from. Lucas, Vanessa and Willow looked at each other worriedly and followed Hali again.
The younger mermaid swam faster and the chirps and calls were getting louder. Once Hali got closer to the chirps she gasped seeing a dolphin tangled up in a net. Quickly, she swam towards the dolphin and started to remove the net so that it could be free.
Lucas, Vanessa and Willow finally caught up with Hali and saw her trying to rescue the dolphin. Not wanting to see it suffer, Vanessa and Willow swam by to help Hali with the netting.
The three untangled the net and freed the dolphin who chirped happily doing some flips. “Aww don’t thank me, my friends helped too.” Hali said, not wanting to take all the credit.
The dolphin turned to Willow and Vanessa and each gave the girls a kiss on the cheek. Willow giggled and Vanessa gave a smile. The dolphin then gave his kiss to Hali, making the mermaid giggle before swimming away.
“Goodbye! Be safe!” Hali yelled, waving to the dolphin.
Vanessa was surprised over Hali’s kindness with animals; she just saw her as an annoying brat, but saw she had a sweet side to her too. “Hali you were amazing back there!” Willow beamed, which snapped Vanessa out of her thoughts.
Hali gave an embarrassed smile, “It’s just what I do. I love to help every creature in need.” She replied. Speaking of creatures, Hali heard another cry for help not too far from where they were and went to swim in the direction of what animal needs help next. Lucas, Vanessa and Willow followed her and the four saw a mother whale crying as her baby was stuck between some rocks. Hali looked at her brother and gave him a quick nod as the two siblings went to help rescue the baby whale.
The mermaid siblings helped the baby whale with Lucas giving the baby a push so he can be free. Hali carefully pulled on the whale’s fins and soon enough the baby whale was free and reunited with his mother. The two whales gave a call before swimming off together.
“You’re welcome!” Hali called out, waving goodbye.
“Aww. That was sweet.” Willow sighed happily seeing the wholesome reunion.
Hali and Lucas smiled. “Thanks Willow.” Hali replied. “Now you see I’m the fastest and my big brother is the strongest.” She added giving her brother a pat on the back. Lucas gave a nervous chuckle and gave an embarrassed blush.
Vanessa and Willow giggled at Lucas’s expression. Vanessa gave a smile to Lucas, still having her crush on him and knowing how strong and caring he was, fueled her crush on him further.
After saving sea creatures, the rest of the day was exploring other parts of the ocean where Lucas and Hali would usually hang out when getting away from their kingdom life. Vanessa was lying down on the rocks staring at the sunlight beaming through the water. It felt magical to her to the point she closed her eyes and started to remember something in her past.
She remembered jumping into the ocean swimming down below, before feeling pressure on her chest for being underwater for so long. Before thinking anymore, Vanessa snapped out of her thoughts to see Hali right in front of her face.
“You okay?” Hali asked.
“Y-yeah I’m fine. Just thinking.” Vanessa replied as she got up.
“Thinking about my brother?”
“No.” Vanessa glared back at the younger mermaid. “Just an old memory.” She replied, turning away from the younger mermaid.
Hali stepped back and turned away as well. “Sorry.” She apologized. “Was it a good memory or a bad one?”
Vanessa scoffed, “Why do you ask?”
“I’m just asking.” Hali quickly replied. “You just were spacing out and looking uncomfortable.” Vanessa blinked in surprise. Hali looked at Vanessa and sighed. “Look when I see someone looking sad or uncomfortable I just need to know.”
“Sometimes you don’t need to know.” Vanessa replied. “Unless the person feels comfortable with telling.” It was then the two girls realized they had a conversation that didn’t involve them yelling or screaming insults at one another.
While that didn’t mean they were friends yet, it did show Willow that Vanessa was progressing with Hali well.
“Hey, can we show you a place where Hali and I usually hang out?” Lucas asked. Willow and Vanessa nodded and the four started to swim off again. The four made it to some rocks, the same rocks where Hali would stare at Subcon all day and what made the mermaid siblings start their adventure.
“A rock?” Vanessa asked.
“This is my special rock, I’ve been on this rock for three years watching Subcon.” Hali explained as she got up on the rock. “If you're here at the perfect time the sun makes the island shine.”
“Yeah. That’s Subcon for ya.” Vanessa replied. The mermaids watched the sun setting on Subcon before they heard voices coming from the distance.
Hali turned to see a ship and people celebrating a birthday party. “What’s going on over there?” She asked. Before anyone could respond, Hali jumped from the rock and swam towards the ship.
“H-Hali! Wait!” Lucas shouted following after his little sister.
“Not again.” Vanessa sighed as she and Willow went to follow Hali and Lucas. The four mermaids swam towards the ship, once they got close enough they stayed underwater so no one could see them.
The mermaids saw Mu’s birthday party going on with everyone dancing, eating and celebrating. Hali’s eyes sparkled seeing everyone gathered together having fun. She realized that mermaids and humans celebrate the same way, no differences except feet and fins.
Hali heard the strings of a guitar and turned to where the music was. Her eyes then gazed at Mu and Timmy playing their guitars to get the party moving. Hali’s eyes were more focused on Mu as she wanted to get a closer look, but couldn’t as she would be seen.
“Wow! She’s amazing!” Hali commented.
Vanessa and Willow looked up at the young girl the mermaid was talking about and recognized her. “Oh yeah she’s part of the Captain family.” Vanessa revealed.
“Captain family?” Lucas asked.
“Their another famous family in Subcon.” Willow replied. “They aren’t big as Vanessa’s family and just have a well known business with training goods.”
“Then.” Hali started. “Who is she?” She asked, pointing at Mu.
Willow turned to who Hali was talking about and told her. “That is Emily Captain, aka Mu. She’s Giovanni Captain’s niece who lives in Subcon.” Willow introduced.
“Mu.” Hali sighed saying her nickname. Vanessa looked at Hali and recognized that look. It was the same look she gave when she saw Lucas for the first time.
The four kept spying on the party, until Mu saw them. Quickly, the mermaids dived down before Mu caught sight of them. The birthday girl looked at the ocean, but with how dark it was starting to get she couldn’t see what was near the boat just now.
Timmy caught his cousin looking at the water below and walked over to her. “See something Mu?” He asked.
Mu turned to her cousin and looked back at the ocean. “I thought I saw someone or something, staring at me.” She told him. Timmy looked where Mu was staring at and saw nothing then the ocean.
“Probably just a fish.” Timmy told her. “Come on we’re about to have cake.” Mu smiled and followed her cousin, which made her pull away from looking at the water. Hali was the first to peek her head up as she slowly went around the ship, keeping her eyes on Mu. She didn’t know why, but something made her want to jump onto the ship and talk with Mu, which was crazier than it sounds, but she wanted to.
“What are you doing?” Lucas asked, whispering. Hali didn’t listen and kept staring at Mu. With a sigh he grabbed his sister by the shoulder and pulled her away. “Hey! Ocean to Hali!” Lucas yelled. Luckily, no one heard it, except Vanessa and Willow. Hali snapped out of her thoughts and looked at her older brother. “What’s wrong with you?”
Hali nervously chuckled as she played with her hair. “S-Sorry.” She stuttered. “I just seemed interested in Mu.”
“You mean to be her friend?” Lucas asked.
“Y-yeah.” Though from the blush on her face it seemed to be a lie. Vanessa and Willow looked at each other knowing what Hali really wanted to be with Mu. The four decided enough was enough and decided to swim back to shore and head back to Willow’s for the night.
However, that became a big problem. Once reaching shore, clouds started to cover the evening sky and a few drops of rain fell from the sky preventing the four from drying their legs. “Oh great!” Vanessa complained. “How will I explain to my mom about this!”
Willow giggled. “Relax, she won’t get mad at you now for being out in the rain.”
“True.” Vanessa groaned in reply.
Lucas and Hali giggled as well, and sighed looking at the rain. It wasn’t a big storm or anything, just a rain shower. A cool relaxing rain shower. That is...until a large clap of thunder in the distance surprised them. “Quick, dive!” Lucas yelled. The mermaids all dived underwater, and saw it was completely different underwater then on the surface. You couldn’t tell it was storming unless you were closer to the surface.
Hali realized it was about to storm and got worried for Mu and the people aboard the ship celebrating the party. Quickly, she started to swim towards the ship hoping that Mu was okay. “Hali! Where are you going!?” Lucas yelled, but Hali ignored him and went to check up on Mu.
Mu however, was not okay. Everyone on the ship was screaming in fear after the clap of thunder spooked her and she fell overboard with a piece of rope tied to her foot. The rope was dragging the young girl down, and no one grabbed it in time to stop Mu from falling. “Mu! Mu!” Her mother shouted, almost in tears.
Mu was below the sea trying to remove the rope from her foot. She was slowly losing air trying to get the rope off from her foot. Her eyes slowly closed as she slowly started to lose air.
Just before Mu could drown. Hali finally made it to her and quickly removed the rope dragging her down off her foot. Mu slowly opened her eyes and got a glimpse of Hali before she closed them again as Hali helped Mu up to the surface.
“Mu’s okay!” Timmy yelled. Quickly, the crew reeled in a floater for the young girl and brought her back on deck. Her mother came by and held her daughter and cried seeing her daughter almost died.
“My baby! My baby!” Mu’s mother cried as she held her close.
Mu slowly opened up her eyes seeing her mother. “M-mom.” She groaned. Mu’s mother gasped and hugged her daughter tight. Mu slowly turned her head and saw a glimpse of Hali’s tail swimming away. Only she noticed it as everyone was worried for Mu’s safety.
Hali smiled seeing Mu was going to be alright, and quickly swam back to her brother and friends, seeing as they were coming towards her and they swam away from the boat and that it was time to call it a night.
Luckily, the rain quickly passed and soon the group was able to dry off their legs and quickly make it to Willow’s house for the night. Vanessa called her mom, and told her about the rain and she’ll be staying the night. Good news, her mom was understanding with the rain and let her daughter spend the night at Willow’s.
Hali was looking out the window relaxing after the long day she had. Lucas came by and went to stand by his sister. “Why did you do that?” He asked. Hali looked up at her older brother. “Why did you go back, almost risking yourself being caught.”
With a sigh, Hali spoke up. “I just wanted to check up on the girl and well I saved her life.”
Lucas sighed and put his arm around his little sister. “I know, but please be careful Hali. We don’t want to be caught.” He told her.
“Right.” Hali replied with a nod. For the rest of the night before falling asleep, the siblings watched the moonlight sky.
At another house miles away, Mu to was watching the moonlight from her bed. She was constantly thinking about Hali, and why she saved her life tonight. It was a surprising birthday for her to say the least.

So close, and still so far
Word count: 2517 words.
A/N. This is the first non-academic thing I’ve written in a year or so, so it might not be the best. Inspired by the song So Close by Jon McLaughlin and one of my favourite movie scenes ever, the dancing scene in Enchanted with Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel and James Marsden. Comments are appreciated!!
“Peter Moore and Ella Lewis invite you to their engagement party, on Saturday 22nd August.”
It shouldn’t be a surprise, as Brian had told him about the engagement, but having the invitation in his hand made his heart stop. Peter and Ella had been a couple, The Couple of their group, ever since their high school senior year. Now that they both had graduated college, it was the logical next step. After all, Ella and Peter complemented each other. She was as organised as he was playful, she was as logical as he was spontaneous. They were the power couple, and they were so absolutely right for each other that it made no sense to avoid the unavoidable.
Still, Shawn’s mouth went dry, and for a moment he seemed to have forgotten how to breathe. His best friend in the world was getting married. The person who knew everything about him, his rock, his muse. The girl he’d written every single song about. The love songs, the heartbreak songs and the hopeful songs. His world revolved around Ella Lewis, and she would never know it did.
As if life were mocking him, he heard his phone ring with the sound of her favourite song, Everything I Do by Bryan Adams. Shawn had to swallow twice before he was sure he’d sound normal.
“Hey there!” he tried to sound as cheerful as possible.
“Hi, Shawnie! I was wondering if you’d got the invitation, because almost everybody replied and you didn’t.” she sounded excited. Of course she did. She had just graduated top of her class, and now she was organising a party to celebrate her engagement to the love of her life.
“Yeah, just got it. I was about to call Andrew to ask if there was any problem with me going.” He lied. He knew that, in the writing process, he was mostly the one who organised his own schedule, so he could free that day without any problem. But he wanted to seem busy, for some stupid reason.
“Uh… Alright, I guess?” He could picture her nibbling her lower lip. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, but couldn’t you try and get the day off? It’s pretty important for us, and all our friends are gonna be there, and…” She was pacing now, he could hear her footsteps down the stairs. He was being cruel, he knew that. But he couldn’t tell her that he’d leave everything just to make her happy. He didn’t have a partner, and music was all he had. She couldn’t know she came first.
“I’ll talk to him, I promise.” He heard her low hum, and the click of a pen. “So, anyways, congratulations! I can’t believe you didn’t tell me though.” A text would’ve been nice, he added mentally. Just so he could prepare himself for the gruesome conversation that they were having.
“Well, yeah. I’ve been busy with some paperwork, and my final project and stuff, so I’ve been a bit out of it. This is honestly the first day I’m fully invested in this, so call yourself lucky that you’ve been the very first person I thought of!” Against his own judgement, his heart sped up, but the little mean voice in his head reminded him that she thought of him while organising her engagement party. He knew he was being ridiculous letting his hopes up.
“Lucky me!” He forced a chuckle. “By the way, congratulations on your graduation. I have no clue what your final project was about but I heard the guys say it was ground-breaking.” He tried to steer away the conversation from the invitation on his table.
“Oh, thanks! It wasn’t that big of a deal, truth to be told. Sheldon Cooper would’ve totally mocked me.” He rolled his eyes. There was no real person to criticise her work, so she went to fictional characters. “By the way, are you bringing a plus one? Camila, perhaps? Haven’t seen her in ages.”
Hearing her mention Camila felt like he’d been punched in the stomach.
“Um, I’ll have to get back to you about that. I don’t think she’ll be able to make it, though.”
“Erm… Okay, I guess? I mean, it’s not a big party, or anything. But I wanted to have it…”
“Controlled.” Shawn interrupted her.
“Well, yeah it comes down to that.” She giggled. “Hey, I’ve got to go. Peter’s family is coming over to have lunch, I’ve got to go check on him in the kitchen. Love you!”
“Love you too!” If only she knew how true that was, he sighed as he heard that she’d hung up.
Ella was a very dedicated person. Whenever she had an interest, or a plan or a goal, she was invested a 100%. Her engagement party was no different. That was the reason why she didn’t reach out to Shawn in the month prior to the party. She spoke to Vanessa, her maid of honour, and to Brian, who would be Peter’s best man, but her interactions with Shawn went no further than a couple of texts to check up on each other every couple days. He seemed busy, he never said much. Honestly, she was busy as well, so she didn’t dwell on it. That went on until three days before the party, at 2 a.m.
She would be lying if she said he woke her up. Her body wasn’t used to her new-found freedom, so she couldn’t sleep until past 2 or 3 in the morning. She spent those late hours, when Peter was already asleep, reading scientific papers, reading books or playing the keyboard. After spending so many late nights working on papers and studying, she felt like her mind was the sharpest when the world was asleep. And, suddenly, after almost a month of silence, Shawn was calling her.
“Hey, what’s up?” She asks. Being friends with Shawn for years, she knew that this could very easily be a breakdown. She closed the door of her study room so she didn’t wake Peter.
“I love you, you know that?” It was very clear that he was drunk. Very drunk.
“Of course I do, Shawnie.” Ella could hear him open a bottle of something, then knocking something over, and taking a big gulp. “Is that why you’re calling me? I’m not mad or anything, I was reading. But… do you know what time it is?”
Her words seemed to get lost and never reach the other side of the line. “You know, Kid in Love is actually about you. And so is Never Be Alone. And Imagination.” She was startled. She knew he had a crush on someone in their friend group, but she never imagined it was her.
“So… It was me you had a crush on in junior year?”
“And so are Because I Had You, and If I Can’t Have You, and Mercy…” He lost track of his own train of thought, because he went silent.
“Are you really saying you’re in love with me, Shawn?” Those words were difficult to speak out. He couldn’t do that to her.
“Do you remember when I was just the Vine kid and we were sitting in my room looking for a song to cover? And we kinda jammed to Everything I Do? I tried to tell you then. And when I got drunk for the first time because of just one beer and I kissed you? You started dating Peter a week later and I brushed it off.” Every word Shawn said felt like a dagger directed to her heart. Tears were threatening to fall, and she let out a silent sob. “It has always been you. You're with somebody I can't be. But I can tell that you're happy.” He started singing. “I know you and Peter are a perfect match, don’t worry. But I needed to get this out of my system, you know?”
At that point, she couldn’t hide the fact that she was crying. And Shawn heard her ragged breathing, which seemed to sober him up.
“Oh, El. I’m so sorry. I’m so, so, very deeply sorry.” He started crying as well. “I’m such an idiot. I’ve kept it to myself for so many years, and I tell you now. I understand if you don’t want to see me ever again, if you hate me now. Oh my god, El. I hate myself so much now.”
As much pain as he was causing her, he was still her Shawn, her younger brother from another mother (by six exact months, she reminded him continuously). She had had a crush on him for a few months, back when he was writing Handwritten. Now she knew that those songs she hoped he wrote for her were actually about her. Knowing it didn’t change anything though. She was wearing Peter’s ring, because she was in love with him, because they balanced each other out. While Ella considered Shawn to be her little brother, Peter was her best friend, her soulmate.
“It’s okay, Shawn. I’m just shocked… Why… why would you keep that from me?”
“I’m so stupid, I was nervous you’d make fun of me and hate me. It’s okay if you do now. I mean, not okay, obviously, but I’d understand.” Another sob escaped his mouth.
“Shawn, I don’t hate you. You’re… you’re like my little brother. I just wish you would’ve told me sooner. I could’ve helped you get over me.” She let out a sad chuckle. “We’ll see if some of my friends from uni is your perfect match at the party, okay?”
Shawn couldn’t believe his luck. He was so drunk he wouldn’t remember any of it in the morning, yet she wasn’t mad at him. Peter could never know what jewel of a person he was marrying. What Shawn didn’t notice was that he was thinking out loud.
“If his words are any pointer to go by, he knows.” This time, her laugh was genuine. “Shawnie, go to bed. Sleep this off. I’ll see you at the party, okay? I… I’ll see you.”
Ella couldn’t bring herself to tell him she loved him. She honestly did, but it felt wrong to say it, now that he’d said he was IN love with her.
She looked at the clock. Half past two. The crying had been very tiresome, so she’d give sleeping a go. She entered the room on her tiptoes, but somehow, Peter sensed her coming in.
“Love… what’s the matter? I’ve heard you crying.” He sounded worried.
She didn’t even give it a second thought. The conversation between Shawn and her would remain private. Peter didn’t need to know. Hell, she wasn’t even sure Shawn would remember in the morning.
“It’s nothing. I was watching kitten videos.” She mentally facepalmed. It was probably the lamest excuse she’d ever given. But Peter just shrugged, patted on the bed and snuggled into her neck as soon as she laid down. “I love you.” Ella whispered. Peter was already sleeping, because he answered with a hum, just one beat too late.
On the day of the party, everything was perfect. Ella had organised it, so nobody was surprised. Everything, from the pins in her hair till the wine that was served, had been handpicked and controlled. She was a quantum physicist, after all. She liked details and perfection. The guests started to arrive with gifts, and she greeted them all like a perfect hostess. Peter was chatting with his grandmother when she saw a familiar set of curls by the open door. The smile on his face as he approached her could mean two things: he had let go of the whole situation or, most probably, he had forgotten all about it.
“Hey, El. Nice party.” He greeted her with a soft kiss on the cheek.
“Thanks, Shawn. Peter’s over there,” she pointed to him “and the rest of the group are somewhere inside. Probably close to the snacks.” She chuckled. “I’ll catch you guys later.” With that, she turned to greet her cousin and her nephew. “Hi! Thanks for coming.”
Even though Ella enjoyed being the perfect hostess, half an hour later her mouth was so dry she needed a glass of something. When she approached the table, Shawn was pouring himself a glass of white wine. “I’ll have one of those as well, Shawn.” She half asked-half demanded. He nodded, acknowledging her words, and gave her his new glass. It wasn’t until he was done pouring a second glass that he looked at her.
“Look, El. I’m sorry about anything I said last Wednesday. I don’t remember all of it, but I’m pretty sure it included me confessing you my…” Ella quickly cut him off.
“It’s alright. I’ve thought about it and, honestly, I feel sorrier for you, for not being able to help you, than for the situation.” Shawn nodded solemnly.
“So… water under the bridge?” Instead of answering, Ella simply hugged him, and she felt Shawn’s chest relaxing.
Ella closed her eyes, happy that they had finally made amends. Suddenly, she felt Shawn humming a song that sounded familiar. She focused on the music that played softly from the stereo. So Close by Jon McLaughlin. She hadn’t realised that it was still on the playlist. She loved the song, but it didn’t seem suitable for an engagement party.
So close to reaching that famous happy end. Almost believing this one's not pretend. Now you're beside me, and look how far we've come. So far, we are so close.
Just like in the movie, her favourite movie, he whispered the words in her ear. They weren’t dancing though, just merely swaying in place.
Ella felt sorry for Shawn. She didn’t understand how she could have missed the song when she was grooming the playlist to engagement party-appropriate songs. She hoped Shawn didn’t take it to heart. He was still her best friend, and she hoped that nothing would ever change that.
For Shawn, hearing that song, at that exact moment, was bittersweet. Somehow fitting. He was saying goodbye to the love of his life, who considered him a brother, who was marrying the love of her life. He was holding her close; he could pretend for a moment that he was hers. But he knew it was a lie, a hopeful thought. He would always love her; he would always be there for her.
As the final chord of the song died out and something else, much happier, started to sound, they started to become aware of their surroundings again. They let go of each other, and they smiled as they looked into each other’s eyes.
“I love you, Shawnie.” “I love you, El.”
They both walked towards their friends, sharing a secret that nobody knew. Ella’s eyes were gentle, and her laugh was genuine, and nothing had changed between them. And Shawn knew that was the first step to heal. His smile was bright, and he was having fun. Ella decided to let him be. She’d tell him they were moving some other day.
