Can I ask for an S/O who comforts Chai who finally has a change to realize at every point in dealing with the Vandelay bosses that he could've died or at the very least become a mind controlled puppet to Kale?
What's The Matter?
꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦
Summary: After feeling the victory of saving Vandelay and thus everyone from being victim to the Spectra Project, all seems perfect with the reconstructions of the way Vandelay once was on its way. But you can't help but notice that your usually energetic boyfriend has been a bit hung up on somethings
Warnings: Major Hi Fi Rush Spoilers. There's a good bit of some angst in here so be ready for that. Chai almost has a panic attack.
Author’s Snip: This request was so lovely thank you, anon!
Notes: This wasn't proof read, I'll get on that later on
I’ll shut up now. Enjoy! And don’t be afraid to request.
꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦
It had been a few days after the adventure with Vandelay and meeting the band. Everything was finally going back to the good old Vandelay that was much more admired.
You will admit that having to take down head of the company, Kale Vandelay and his group of bosses wasn't even in your list of things that could happen that day. I mean, hell! You went to the campus with Chai to offer him some moral support in getting his new arm.
You had simply been waiting outside patiently for his procedure to be done, maybe admire some scenery. And then next thing you knew there was a massive commotion about a defect on the loose and you were about to be taken in for questioning because you had apparently been seen with them. As you were walking with the guards to see the security boss, Korsica, Chai comes out from nowhere with a scrap metal guitar weapon and an orb cat head, sweeps you into his arms and runs off with you, and takes you to a hide out to which you meet Peppermint. As if you weren't already blindsided by all that you are then informed about Spectra and that your boyfriend is part of the plan to take it down. And since "Chai wanted to be a dumb ass in shining scrap metal and save his damsel.", according to Peppermint's words, you were now a part of the team via association.
And of course your day just got crazier with helping in the effort. But that was over and done now and you were sure that everything in you and Chai's life would go on as usual, with the fact that Chai was now Vandelay's new ambassador in mind.
But you could't help but notice that Chai had been quiet for some time afterwards. An immediate red flag to you since you knew Chai was anything but quiet. It started happening after a short talk and briefing with everyone about all that Kale had done to the company and how to go about fixing it or making it more than just some money grab. After that, Chai would have these moments where he'd be with the group and something like sadness and hurt came over him.
"Chai." you ask, receiving a hum back.
"Is everything okay?" you asked again. "What do you mean, babe?" Chai questioned, doing that head tilt he usually does. "You seem to be in an upset mood lately." you explain, "Is something on your mind?" you follow up. "It's..." Chai tries to remark, but it seems like he pauses for a moment to think about how to finish that sentence. "It's kind of a lot, actually." he confesses.
You nod and look around for a moment to see if anyone is around to hear something that could be personal. You spot no one room, but you still take Chai's hand and guide him to a corner of the room just to have some more sense of privacy.
"What's the matter?" you say in a soft tone, but the way you carry the words don't really make it seem like it's that much of an opportunity for Chai to open up, but rather a starter to the conversation. "I've just sort of realized that Peppermint was right about a lot of things." Chai mutters. You give him a questioning look that asks him to explain. "Fighting all of the Vandelay bosses was tricky and really dangerous!" Chai explained. "Rekka literally turned her office into a wrestling wring. Zanzo's building was literally underground and filled with lava. One blunder and I would have been a goner! Roquefort litterally turned int a giant metal werewolf! And Kale already had Spectra ready to go! I had an ArmStrong, (Y/N)! The thing that would get Kale into my head! He could have used it at anytime to stop me from my missions at any time! I could have..." he listed, getting even more distressed as he went on. You whispered his name under your breath and gently placed your hand on his cheek to console him.
"He could have used me like a puppet to hurt you guys if he wanted." Chai remarked, seemingly having just thought about that horrifying idea. "Gosh, I would never forgive myself if I hurt you guys. Especially you." he commented as he looked at you and held your face with a strained type of gentle touch.
"Well... He didn't." you say, trying to look for something to comfort your boyfriend with. "808 came in and got the chip off of Kale before he could think of it." you continued. "And you know what we did after you came back?" you asked in a light hearted baiting tone. "What did we do?" Chai played along. "We kicked his ass and saved everyone and Vandelay." you answered. "We kicked all the bosses' asses and even got one on our side!" you cheered.
"Yeah!" Chai cheered back, "Yeah, we did! Didn't we?".
"We saved the day!" you cheered, to which Chai mimicked. You both then spent a moment cheering in the empty room, feeling the sense of victory that the whole group felt that day all over again.
Once you both simmered down, you looked over at Chai. "Better?" you asked, trying to see if you succeeded in getting Chai back and out of his rain cloud.
"Much better." Chai responded.

Yea I almost forgot about the poll I set if I should attempt a Hi-Fi Rush fanfic/work, and a lot of the results were a yes!
It’s a wip, and I also have to figure out where/how to post it (also get the courage to actually do it).
I hope to finish it soon, and coming with original ideas is hard and I don’t want to look like I’m plagiarizing someone else’s work.
I’m short, I’m dumb and scared.
Wip story under cut
——————————————————————————
The alarm sounded at Korsica’s desk, announcing the end of the security head’s day at work. Korsica groaned, stretching out of her chair, tense after another hard day at Vandelay. Not as hard under former CEO Kale Vandelay, especially during the “defect” fiasco, but still, a stressful day. Changing passwords, massive paperwork, finding possible security breaches, and so on. Before logging off her own computer, she made sure to quickly change her passwords, and shut off her computer, and walked out her office.
As she passed through the doors, she was surprised to see a CAR-11E bot, with food she ordered from the cafe.
“How long have you been waiting here?” The Scottish redhead questioned.
The robot responded in a worried voice, “About 4 hours, 37 minutes, and 12 seconds”. Korsica cringed at the thought that the bot was here, holding up her food, nearly all day, all because she was so caught up in her work.
“I am surely to be fired” the CAR-11E exclaimed.
“I assure you, that won’t happen.” Korsica reassured the bot, grabbing her food and paid a bit extra for the CAR-11E’s inconvenience.
As she stepped foot on the elevator, she wondered how Chai managed to get up here, when he invaded the tower. Even though he destroyed a major part of security, technically got her fired from her job, and maybe hit her head on multiple doors, she couldn’t help but commend him on making it up the tower, fighting against Roquefort, Mimosa, and Kale, and fixing the data nodes faster than any of the TEC-78s could do. She couldn’t also help but think; what is Chai and the rest of the gang up to?
(Note: Ty for reading this short bit! I hope I get the courage to find somewhere else to post and write other than my notes app on my phone.)

SO ANOTHER CHAI X KALE RAMBLE TURNED HALF DRABBLE I GUESS
Consensual half choking
Kale is bottom and he loves when Chai visits the office
You can kinda tell my mind went all over the place I guess but here just dunno enjoy?
❤️
insert evil laughing gif xD man can you just imagine Chai sauntering into Kale's office though.
Kale swallows thickly and watches him, his body is drawn to him, it's like an addiction, he wants to go to him, feel his warmth , his hands, but he stays seated, good and obedient.
He has nothing he can bribe Chai with to be there, Chai could and can leave any time he wants and that's what scares him and makes him feel completely wonderfully weak, in a way no one else ever has before.
He has to submit to this being, if it were anyone but Chai he’d obliterate them, but he’d seen what he could do, for all the times he called him a defect...he was...had been jealous. Kale had made so many complicated plans and still...he’d lost because Chai had always been to the point, made the best of what he had and made to admit Chai’s talent was natural... wonderful and unique...one of a kind.
Chai had told him he’d noticed the musical puns he’d been using specifically on him, a fleeting moment when he’d visited him in the prison Korsica was keeping Chai in at the time , Kale had blushed and tried to deny it at first until the idiot had told him he thought it was cute...they’s shared a kiss and he’d felt like someone with their first crush the way he’d turned from confident to bashful in matter a of moments under Chai’s watchful stare, the calls they’d already shared...
(NGL kinda wanna ramble write a prison cell ramble about these two)
He hadn’t aimed the robots lasers at Chai, he’d aimed them at Korsica.
Had he fired her for failing to keep Chai in place where he could reach him whenever he wanted, or had he been jealous she was so close to what was his? He figured Chai would survive, he seemed to have a knack for surviving the impossible...of course he called that night just to make sure.
Watching Chai move in closer he still couldn't believe that in that last moment as he'd been flying through the air, sure of what would be his end , despite all the flirting and the secret kisses , the hidden dark corners where desire had taken over them and they'd become one , hurried moments of passion he'd always seen one of them dying as if it was in inevitable truth...
But that day he'd felt something grab onto him and pull him back before Chai’s feet in a crumpled heap and before he’d passed out he’d heard Chai shouting at Peppermint.
‘You were just going to let him die...he’s your brother... he’s not perfect...you really think you’re better than him? You weren’t even gonna give him a chance to be better! I changed why can’t he?’
Finally...he thought as he passed out, someone cared about him.
It was still a marvel after everything that Chai had shown him mercy...he’d never told Chai that a part of him had been alright with the idea of dying so long as it’d been by Chai’s hand...his Rockstar truly had no idea how much he was committed to him even more so after that moment when the world had turned black and he’d awoken to find him sleeping by his bed side and holding his hand.
Kale couldn’t help but smile, god Chai always seem to sleep in the most uncomfortable positions.
Now here he was again waiting patiently for him, watching his every movement, that beat in his step...he remembered also the first time Chai had shown him a trick that nearly blew his mind...and knew he’d found the perfect drug.
Something called a beat thrust that he’d never fully understand but when Chai hit it perfectly his back would arch and legs would tighten around his lovers waist he’d torn through all the layers of clothing the first time Chai had pulled it off and cum embarrassingly early, while leaving scratches that thankfully hadn’t been deep along Chai’s back.
Now Chai was kneeling on his chair, one knee between his thighs and metal fingers playfully around his neck
Placing small lingering kisses along his cheek bone along his jaw and whispering against his ear
“You miss me baby?”
Kale had power, money, influences connections, good ones he’d made sure to change to be better after Chai had given him the chance to...and what made him so intoxicating was that Chai wasn’t interested in any of his power, the sole reason he was there was because of him, not for the name or all the treasures that could come with it, it was him and in that truth Kale knew he was Chai’s...and if anyone tried to take him away
...well he might just simply have to kill them... he could have his little group of friends...but there had been a few disappearances...sometimes he wondered if Chai knew...or was that level of idiot cute... nodding as Chai placed his thumb against his bottom lip he answered
“My world is nothing when you’re not in it Chai...you know that, can I kiss you?”
Chai smirked at the breathless voice of his partner and turned Kale’s head to look at him as he playfully booped his nose
“Magic word old man.”
“Please?”
Chai paused a moment and it was those moments Kale loved , those moments Chai made sure he was okay when he was in charge
“Not being too rough am I?”
“No...if you were I’d say that stupid word you made me promise to say.”
“Kale safe words are important.”
“Yes but I’m not saying it so a little rougher if you p-“
Chai’s confidence was back as he forced Kale harder against the chair so that his head tilted back.
“Bruises like last time gorgeous? People will be wondering why you’re wearing scarves in summer Vandelay.”
“None of their business...I want your marks...for the days you can’t be here...”
Kale ground out between clenched teeth, only to then bite his bottom lip , looking up at the younger man with pleading eyes, his hips shifting, eager to get some friction from the knee that was sat between his thighs.
Chai couldn’t help but smirk, looking him up and down slowly, thinking how good Kale looked when he allowed himself to be at his mercy. Leaning forward lips lingering just a breath away.
“Both hands later or just the one today?”
Kale whined trying to close the gap and kiss him only to feel Chai’s grip tighten and keep him in place.
“Just...one today.”
“Good boy, you know I like it when you communicate with me.”
Chai praised him and closed the gap, kissing him slow and steady, eyes closed , he’d missed his taste, the way Kale could grow so desperately hungry for him, feeling Kale’s teeth biting softly at his bottom lip, oh Vandelay was eager today. Pressing his fingers in just enough to mark him, just how he liked, how he wanted, easing enough to let him breathe when he needed to.
Sinking further into the kiss he moaned deeply as he felt those claws finding their way under his clothes and onto his hips, Chai was completely aware of the danger they held and the control Kale had over such power...it was a sin and yet divine all at once, he couldn’t believe how barely a year ago how unhappy they’d been only to find happiness in each other.
Kale thought about how close to death and almost taking over the world he’d been to now , it was almost unreal and dreamlike , if this was a dream he hoped never to wake and he fell repeatedly into Chai’s wants and desires without a fight, he was wanted for him and with that he would submit himself always and willingly to him.
Chai ended up ravishing Kale on his desk, all through a phone meeting, no video calls of course but Kale had to keep his composure, which had failed him in the end, Chai he made him come undone a whimpering mess over the surface of his desk, moaning his lovers name, knees together and the warmth of Chai’s human hand wrapped around his cock as his metal one pulled at his hair, he loved every second and the person on the phone had to pretend like nothing was happening because the meeting was too important to hang up on, breathless with seed dripping from his cock, splashes under the desk , he could feel Chai still in him, long after he’d pulled out, Chai fucked him with what felt like within an inch of his life and he LOVED it.
Here came his favourite part, the soft kisses and tender touches, the comfort that came after the roughness he asked for , the fond cooing and making a fuss of him, clean up and how they would snuggle in his giant office chair for hours until one of them fell asleep, they always made one promise in this that the other would never wake up alone, that a kiss goodbye would be given in a promise of always returning.
The world might know they were together but it was still fun to pretend they were sneaking around just like the first time Chai had ever talked dirty to him...and he'd realised the only way you could spell
Perfect was by spelling it D-e-f-e-c-t , for what was a world without flaws, with out it’s peculiarities? Boring ...that’s what it was and Chai was anything but.❤️

its fine if you dont like alola but can you not make incest jokes?
I'm not joking. I'm serious.
Alola, or, as I prefer, La Boca del Infierno, ain't all sunshine and smiles as it pretends. Beneath that plastic exterior lies true darkness.
Tumblr media
What am I meant to think when I see this?
There's swimming pools bigger than the gene pools down their way!
Although described as 'twins', it's really triplets, but Lana suffers a prematurely ageing growth abnormality.
Children I expect to bear a similarity to their parents, but the moms 'n' dads ain't meant to look like each other!
Everyone here has blue barnets and Inside-Out Eye, where the pupil's the white and the white's the pupil.
Sight defects are notorious in the 'close-knit' communities.
Each insists on hair decoration, but it's almost part of their heads, which you can call bad animation or deformity resulting from too much intermarriage.
Momma's 'thing' just resembles lumps.
It's them space ticks at it again.
Tumblr media
Even the hedgehog is round in this house, which may imply he's an illegitimate offspring of one of 'em.
What about inbreeding suggests practitioners won't stoop to even greater infamy?
Stufful's dad never arrived did he?
Funny that, and a bachelor like Oakie-Dokie residing nearby knew nothing about it.
All that bathing in Cuprenol does terrible things to a man.
Tumblr media
Ever wondered what'd go down in the marriage of Tweedledum and Tweedledee? Well here you are, yer deviant.
A pair of pudding-faced, gormless Cabbage Patch Dolls, each with snouts, black button eyes and glandular issues, and they don't share DNA even when they do?
Tumblr media
Oh yes, Lusamine met a total stranger also possessing her lime pies and effusive mane of unruly, ice-blonde slats.
Total coincidence there.
He came to Alola, he says. On a prison ship.
Tumblr media
It's just one head in triplicate!
Oversized an' all: sure sign of genetic tomfoolery.
Dot Nose, Bridge Nose, Fish Eye: bloody serious case we have on our hands.
Now you understand why she failed to remarry: no other brothers cuts yer options ter nil.
Incest is of course, relative.
Whatever dæmon they worship, some are more pious about it than their fellow perverts.
The more dedicated the believer, the greater insistence on keeping things running in the family.
They'll show off their interwoven connections to the neighbours in a smug game of one-upmanship.
The more lapsed follower will tolerate copulation with distant kin.
These sinners are naturally despised and forced into menial labour, whereas the fanatics just so happen to be rolling in wealth.
Consider:
• Lana's family get by on a fisherman's salary, apparently.
Yeah, yeah, as if the state doesn't have to subsidise their medical bills.
• Sophocles don't go hungry, he has a lab, a giant hamster wheel, a portable hologram in a Pikachu, and he's so rich he not only had the roof fixed, but can move down the road in the meantime.
Oi! The rest of us get by putting a bucket under the leak!
• Lillie has every material possession possible, but no spine or company.
Oh the irony that top sickos should be so resistant to the lure of family obligation.
Hey, yer didn't say that earlier!
• Lusamine is fawned upon for her pwehshush research to the extent she can abandon her children, turning her daughter into a nervous wreck and her son a moody, absent drifter, and it's up to them to understand her work comes first.
• Mohn (by name and nature) fannied about with worm holes until he got sucked off by another dimension.
What did yer think would happen?
Yet on his return, is he knocked on his arse as he deserves?
No, because of incest privileges. The in-group take care of their own, and worse.
Tumblr media
Mallow's mater and pater both share hair, thick brows and close-together peepers of murky green.
The contrast in noses suggests something lesser than siblings, but then again other differing aspects are forgivable.
She is of a lighter pallor, being dead, and wanting an open coffin, had a shave beforehand, which is a frightening nod to morality.
Woman, are you ashamed of our love?
Well Abe went along with it, thus is also culpable of this grotesque bristle denial.
Being unclean, he's gotta cook the dinner.
Tumblr media
And this lot milk the cows.
On the surface, Kiawe's old 'uns aren't identical. You might think some heretical decency has finally sneaked in under the oppressive Alola regime, but it ain't that simple.
These people pray to a volcano as if an earthbound deity, so are nutters.
One aspect you must remember:
Tumblr media
Ol' Granpappy the Island Kakuna, i.e. a dried-up chrysalis.
Tumblr media
'Cause Pappy got Momma's tufts...
Tumblr media
And Dadda's humourless mouth, oblong head, straight-line nose, rectangular eyes and pin pupils.
Well that's not how it's s'posed to go!
I'm thinking Granpappy, as one of them there Kakunas, is in a position of power high enough that he's able to wilfully flaut the laws he imposes on others, like how popes had kids in the Good Old Days and no one took a blind bit o' notice.
He's a rebel I tells yer.
He don't play by the rules.
No sister-wife for him.
Not when he's got a sexy cousin a-waitin'.
A little bit of new blood's crept in, disgracefully so, that's why the whole lot's punished by living near an active volcano.
Surrender 'em to the flames!
Kiawe makes such a big deal about Pappy, and sod the other three grandparents.
Except he only had two!
What is the explanation?
1. Bone-idle writing team.
Character design is foundational stuff. If yer can't even be arsed to do that properly, nothing you do is worthwhile.
I mean, come on, repeating the same model that blatantly?
Halfwits so limited in imagination shouldn't be working in any creative industries.
I blame modern diets.
A whole generation's grown up timid and risk averse because they were taught to fear E. numbers as kids.
I make it a rule to suspect any sod unaware of the joy of a blue tongue.
They've never lived, man!
Where did you think it'll end when dangerous, pretend edibles like houmous, avocados and quinoa replace the wholesome, nourishing fare of biscuits, cake and crisps?
Stop toying with the fundamental principles of the universe!
The mess of the modern era screams systematic abuse of too much kale and not enough sugar.
2. Incest
Alola is extremely insular.
It's implied to be a tourist destination, but no amount of degenerate outside influence appears to have diluted the weird customs it still upholds.
They didn't even think of starting a League until Ash turned up with all his wild exoticism, and why's that?
A. Inbreeding has destroyed their capability for innovation.
B. Many thousands of years ago, Alola got well annoyed its dirty habits weren't exactly catching on as it strove to spread the Satanic message.
Thoroughly confounded in its plans for world conquest, Alola shut itself off in a purification ritual, which is why later developments popular  elsewhere, such as replacing beasts of burden with machines, never caught on.
3. Alola isn't Hawaii, it's a combination of Australia, a penal colony, and Crete, where lived the lepers.
Specifically it's a dumping ground for all the regions' sex offenders to keep their own societies clean.
Of course, the guilty took their nearest and dearest along too, since they were on the receiving end, and loved it.
This explains the large amount of foreign Pokémon, since the owners are also from abroad.
Now I think 'anging's too good for 'em, but these wet-willy countries insist on storing up trouble for themselves, for if cinema has taught us anything, it is that mutants will always escape.
Nature finds a way, however abominable.
Since so many on Tumblr simply love Alola, they aren't about to admit the slightest weakness in the creators' abilities.
Therefore, incest is the acceptable answer to all and sundry.

Look at the system
There is this concept in medicine known as a “sentinel event”. It’s basically the nice way of saying, “Oh shit, something bad happened.” This could be anything from a patient getting the wrong dose of medication to the wrong limb getting amputated.
When a sentinel event occurs, what’s supposed to happen (according to The Joint Commission, the accrediting body that credentials most hospitals in the U.S.) is something called a root cause analysis. The idea is not to put the blame on an individual person when a sentinel event occurs, but rather to find the fault in the system that led to the event occurring.
One example I can think of: let’s say a patient is ordered a drug that comes in a vial with a blue cap. This little vial is in a drawer of a computerized medication dispenser (one brand name is Pyxis; my healthcare peeps will know what I mean). Let’s say that there’s another drug in the drawer right next to it, made by the same company so it’s in the same size and shape vial but with a yellow cap.
It’s very, very easy, when you’re on a busy floor, to be rushed in giving medications. It’s very easy to grab the wrong vial.
The question is: what could be done with the system of medication administration to prevent mixing up those vials?
One way would be to put the two drugs in separate areas of the Pyxis drawer so they’re not right next to each other and less likely to be mistaken for each other.
Another way might be to get the drug company to make the vials look different, so they can easily be told apart.
Yet another thing that can be done is to fix the culture of the unit so the nurse doesn’t feel rushed to give medications, and will be more able to slow down a bit to make sure she’s grabbing the right drug.
What I’m trying to say here is: if a patient gets a wrong medication given to them, simply saying “The nurse screwed up” is not the whole story. It’s not the root of the problem. There is a failure in the system that caused the problem.
I believe this same way of thinking can be applied to…well, nearly everything that’s going on in the world today.
Why does a white man walk into a synagogue and murder innocent Jewish people? Because of a system of racist and hate-based indoctrination that taught him to fear Jewish people.
Why does a white cop get away with murdering an unarmed Black person? Because of a system error of racism and power imbalance that taught the cop to fear the Black person and see them as inhuman.
Why do conservative politicians strive so hard to deny women reproductive freedoms? Because of a system of religious belief that teaches that sex is bad, women who have sex are bad, women are only good for birthing babies, and that women’s bodies belong to the state.
Why do veterans commit suicide at rates much higher than that of the general population? Because of a system of healthcare that has numerous delays, red tape, and ignorance of the warning signs of a veteran who may be about to go over the edge.
Why do so many white working-class people align with politicians like Trump? Because of a system that has failed them. This system of the “American Way”, that taught for so many years that if you just worked hard enough and played by the rules, you would find prosperity. That system is no longer the default. White people are not in charge automatically anymore. They are responding out of a feral fear that they will be eradicated from the earth. Much like their ancestors (and I include my ancestors in this, as my ancestors on my mother’s side owned slaves) tried to eradicate “those other people” from this country.
So what’s to be done?
Look at the system.
Some tips I learned in a couple places. An English professor of mine said once, “Always ask ‘who benefits’.”
If you want to figure out the root cause of a problem, ask “Who benefits from this?”
A Pagan friend of mine long ago said, “If you want to know the real answer to something, ask ‘Why’ three times.”
Some systems can be fixed simply by inserting or removing a defective part. Some systems have to be taken apart to replace multiple elements. Some systems have to be completely taken apart and reassembled.
Some systems need to be destroyed and abandoned, because they cannot be fixed.
We can all recycle and eat less meat and drive more eco-friendly cars to protect the environment, but unless we get the 100 corporations that are causing 70% of the world’s pollution to fix their problem, you can eat kale until you barf but it won’t fix the system.
We can provide shelters and food pantries for homeless people and people with low incomes (and we should), but unless we make companies provide living wages for their workers and cities make affordable housing for those workers, it won’t fix the system.
And so forth.
Look at the system. The system is what’s broken.

Effective home remedies for scoliosis
Effective home remedies for scoliosis
While scoliosis can’t be cured by any home remedies, you can significantly improve your child’s quality of life with scoliosis. By focusing on wellbeing in key areas, you can soothe pain and discomfort, as well as boost your child’s confidence in his/her physical appearance. Let’s go deeper into these home remedies for improved quality of life with scoliosis.
What’s scoliosis?
Scoliosis is when the spine curves into a “C” or “S” shape. When the backbone has this curvature, it can cause back pain and noticeable appearance differences. In severe cases, it can also lead to disability, or lung and heart damage. Generally speaking, scoliosis can be caused by neuromuscular diseases such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, as well as any injuries or birth defects along the spine. Sometimes it’s also caused by an underlying condition like a tumor. Or, it could be caused by less serious issues such as muscle spasms or inflammation. If these latter conditions can be resolved in time, this type of scoliosis may go away naturally. Otherwise the cause of general scoliosis isn’t known. What scientists do know is that scoliosis usually appears in the body right before puberty, when bones are growing at rapid rates. In addition, scoliosis usually develops more severely in girls than boys. What doesn’t cause scoliosis? There are a lot of myths surrounding scoliosis. Parents are often worried that scoliosis can be caused by heavy backpacks. This isn’t true! (Though you should lighten your child’s load to save them back pain.) Other myths include bad posture causing scoliosis or playing sports too often as a child. None of these activities can cause scoliosis.
What are the symptoms of scoliosis?
Sometimes scoliosis will be so mild that you don’t notice it in your child. Usually, it manifests as an “unevenness” in the shoulders, waist and hips. In severe cases, the ribs on one side of the body will stick out as well. If you notice these symptoms in your child, especially right before puberty, you should contact a doctor for a full evaluation to understand his/her scoliosis and rule out any underlying conditions. How’s scoliosis treated? Depending on the degree of scoliosis, many won’t need any medical treatment at all. For those with moderate scoliosis, a brace or surgery is common, as well as twice-yearly check-ups on the growth process of the spine. If the curves in the backbone are especially severe, show an “S” shape or are located in the central region of the spine, your doctor will likely want to intervene with a surgical treatment. However, if your child has stopped growing, the risk of scoliosis getting worse is fairly low. This means that your doctor will likely discard a brace or operation, and focus on simply monitoring the scoliosis. Often, this is called the “wait and watch” approach. How can I improve my child’s quality of life with scoliosis?  This five-step strategy is a comprehensive way of looking at your child’s health and growth. Depending on your child’s specific medical situation, these points can be adapted for best results. Remember the idea with these strategies is to improve your child’s quality of life by reducing pain, strengthening muscles and gaining confidence.
Daily stretches for pain relief Because scoliosis makes you imbalanced, it’s important to stretch on a daily basis to aid any muscles that might be tense or shortened from use. The idea behind daily stretches is to make sure your muscles stay pain-free and don’t aggravate your scoliosis.
Stretching exercises that are helpful will strengthen your hip and shoulder muscles to be able to turn and twist with greater ease. Some of these stretches are in fact yoga poses that are great for these muscle groups.
Child’s pose: Kneel on the floor with your hips toward your heels. Lift your arms in front of your body with your palms on the floor.
Upward and downward dog: Starting in a plank position, move your hips back and out so that you make a “tent” with your body. For upward dog, lower your hips to the floor as far as you can.
Chest flex: Push your arms behind your back and lace your hands together, if possible. You should feel the stretch in your shoulder blades.
Lunges: Do lunges on both sides. Be sure to do them slowly to really feel the stretch.
Spine: Make a “T” with your body on the floor. Then, lift your knees together and let them fall to one side of your body. Turn your head in the opposite direction. Switch sides.
If you’re looking for other stretches, check out this list of strategies for stretching and posture correction in your daily routine.
Regular exercise, especially core muscles Studies show that regular exercise can have a positive impact on those with scoliosis. Exercise is especially important to maintain strength in your back and core, as well as general flexibility and function in your body.
In particular, exercises that improve core or trunk strength are ideal, according to a recent study that saw improvements in the severity of scoliosis. For children, playing low-impact sports or taking swimming lessons may be a good option for regular exercise that can build strength and flexibility.
Following an anti-inflammatory diet Again, while diet can’t cure scoliosis, it can help prevent inflammation and tension. An anti-inflammatory diet can reduce inflammatory proteins in your body and help you manage pain.
Here’s what a comprehensive anti-inflammatory diet looks like:
Omega-3: Found in fish and nuts, omega-3 can help trigger an anti-inflammatory response and also alleviate joint stiffness and pain. If you’re looking to incorporate more omega-3 in your diet, try eating your favorite fish more often.
Antioxidants: Eat your fruits and veggies. These antioxidant-rich foods are key to managing inflammation. If you’re looking for a big boost of antioxidants, go for leafy greens like spinach, kale and broccoli, as well as berries and beans.
Fiber: Another anti-inflammatory compound. Opt for fiber-packed foods such as beans, nuts, berries and vegetables. You can also get fiber from grain-based foods like whole wheat, brown rice, bran and oatmeal.
Extra virgin olive oil: This is the anti-inflammatory queen of the food pyramid, as it has antioxidants, healthy fats and oleocanthal. Use extra virgin olive oil instead of cooking oils, sauces and dressings.
Avoid processed foods: Processed foods are full of gross compounds that trigger inflammation. Avoid junk food with these unnatural additives!
Joining a support group for emotional health
The Mayo Clinic highly recommends that patients with scoliosis, especially young teens, join a support group. While this isn’t a direct impact, support groups can be a good way to emotionally handle the pressure of scoliosis and the frustration of changes in appearance. Specifically, finding a formal support or creating close friendships can be emotionally important for your child to accept his/her medical situation and gain confidence in his/her body. This is a win-win situation for young teens facing scoliosis.
Chiropractic care for pain relief and possible correction
Because the science of chiropractic care is relatively new, there isn’t a lot of evidence-based support for the role of chiropractic in helping with a patient’s scoliosis symptoms and pain. However, new evidence shows that chiropractic care helps with pain relief and may even stop the progression of scoliosis. Organizations like CLEAR are creating new guidelines on how chiropractors can create effective care plans for those who suffer from scoliosis. Recent studies show promising results for the future of CLEAR practices. Since 2004, studies on CLEAR patients showed a 37.7% percent reduction in their scoliosis severity. The CLEAR method uses a 3-part approach that they call “mix, fit, set.” The idea behind these steps is to retrain the brain and strengthen the spine.
Mix: In this step, licensed chiropractors warm up the spine to prepare for treatment. A combination of massage and exercises are used to make the spine flexible for treatment.
Fix: Next, chiropractors will make adjustments to the spine. This sounds scarier than it is. The chiropractor will gently and precisely correct specific areas using specific instruments.
Set: Finally, chiropractors will lead the patient through a series of exercises that will enhance coordination and balance. This is where the retraining process really comes to life. The hope is to create new, natural positions.
Many families are now opting to try the CLEAR method or similar approaches. There are clear benefits to using a natural-based method instead of a brace or surgery. For many young scoliosis patients, a brace can be traumatic and may not correct scoliosis properly. On the other hand, surgery doesn’t have high success rates and may cause complications. For this reason, many are turning to chiropractic methods that are safe and natural. Takeaway Trying this five-step strategy to improve your child’s quality of life with scoliosis could be a positive way to overcome pain and discomfort, as well as keep his/her body as strong as possible. Moreover, new chiropractic techniques could have a lasting positive impact on your child’s scoliosis. References:

6 Myths Of Hypothyroidism vs. Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis
6 Myths Of Hypothyroidism vs. Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis Magdalena shares her 6 myths of Hypothyroidism versus Hashimoto’s
Like with most things in life: there is no black or white. With new and complex conditions like a compromised autoimmunity, there are only many shades of grey.
I was compelled to write this article as I get daily emails and calls from people stating the things they have done and how frustrated they are with the results. Let’s get right into them…..
1.  “I don’t have Hashimoto’s, only hypothyroidism.”
Have you been tested to rule out Hashimoto’s if you have hypothyroidism? Most people have not. Doctors don’t like to test for the TPO and TGB antibodies as there is no medication to reduce the autoimmune attack on the thyroid gland.  90% of people with hypothyroidism have it due to Hashimoto’s disease. Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is an autoimmune condition. This means that the immune system gets mutated and starts attacking the thyroid – which causes hypothyroidism. 70% of your immune system lives in your small intestine (duodenum). This is important to know as in the case of Hashimoto’s, it is the digestive tract that needs your help and not the thyroid alone.
2. “I’m already off gluten, dairy and soy but…”
But, you are still not feeling good, right? It’s great that so many of us make these life-altering nutritional changes. For many, however, they do not produce desired results and this is when frustration and doubt step in. If you have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (hypothyroidism) and/or any other autoimmune condition, chances are that you have had digestive issues or infections that triggered this conditions a long time ago. Integrative doctors say that we walk around with Hashimoto’s for an average of 8 years before getting diagnosed. During this time, the digestive tract lining gets damaged by the food we do not tolerate well (see more on this below), pathogenic bacteria, yeast overgrowth (aka candida) and parasites. Any of them can be the trigger for an autoimmune condition. So yes, gluten, dairy and soy are considered big food triggers but for many people there may be more. Read on.
3.  “I eat really well.”
This is one of the first sentences that I hear from people who contact me. It’s not surprising; after all, if they did not eat well and have love and appreciation for good food and nutrition, they won’t be searching for diet and thyroid-related solutions. There are a couple of challenges with this belief: what does “eating well” really mean? Many people would perceive, for example, protein powders, to be healthy food. In my practice I see amazing results every time I switch a person from the miracle product marketing claims to real, unadulterated and whole food. However, the bigger issue is this: for people with autoimmune conditions –
it is not so much about what we eat but what our body does with the food we eat.
Take eggs as an example. They are one of the superfoods, in fact they are so rich in nutrients that we can survive eating them and nothing else. However, if our body does not tolerate eggs well they become a toxic substance that will inflame the immune system even further. Sadly, the list of “good food” that many people with autoimmune conditions cannot tolerate is long and can include:
nuts
seeds
nightshade vegetables
legumes
grains
A simple elimination diet would help reveal what food a person is reactive to. For a person with an autoimmune condition, it is of paramount importance to remove food that causes digestive distress.
4.  “I’m already a vegetarian.”
I know I’m not going to get in good books with the vegetarians here but if you want to heal yourself, you need to remain open-minded. Please bear in mind that I’m a big proponent of bio-individuality which honors the distinct nutritional needs of every human being. I’m not saying everybody needs to eat meat. I’m saying: listen to your body if it needs meat. Sadly (or not), I found many of my ex-vegetarian clients turn a corner with even small amounts of animal proteins in their diet. This is why: VITAMIN B12 and IRON – you probably know this part already: we get plenty of vitamin B12 and iron from meat. Both Vitamin B12 and iron are key in converting the T4 to T3. GLUTAMINE – provides cells in the digestive tract with a vital source of energy that is required for regulating their production. Its role in re-building and strengthening the gut lining is critical. TYROSINE – is also the precursor amino acid for the thyroid gland hormone thyroxin, and a defect in this may result in hypothyroidism. I wrote a full article explaining why some people need meat with hypothyroidism to reclaim their health, on my website, ThyroidDietCoach.com.
5. “I’ve stopped eating goitrogenic vegetables.”
This is another highly controversial topic. It is true that food high in goiter will inhibit the thyroid gland’s ability to uptake iodine to produce the T4 hormone. This can be highly frustrating as this food includes some of our all-time favorites like cabbage, broccoli, spinach, Brussels’ sprouts, kale, collard greens, etc. Here is the good news: when cooked, these vegetables lose 70-80% of their goitrogenic properties. Let’s remember that when we have Hashimoto’s, our primary focus should be restoring our digestive tract and detoxifying the body – as they were the original triggers of this condition. Omitting these vegetables completely will not address this concern. These vegetables are richer in vitamins and minerals than any other of their distant veggie cousins. As it stands, most Americans are undernourished, taking out food like these will further make us rely on supplements – which is not the way we should be living and healing. Lastly, goitrogenic vegetables are rich in a substance called DIM (diindolylmethane) which is key in liver detoxification as well as elimination of mutated estrogen metabolites. Most pre-menopausal women I work with have some level of estrogen dominance which is barely surprising given the estrogenic cocktail of skincare products, cleaners, packaging and food we live in today. Keeping a healthy balance of estrogen, progesterone and thyroid hormone is key not only to the overall hormonal balance but also to the immune system.
6. “I lost my thyroid, is there anything that I can do?”
The short answer is: absolutely YES! I want to empower you with some understanding why that is so: a. Even if you lost your thyroid, the meds you are taking depend on your gut and your liver for proper break-down and absorption. b. If you are only on synthetic T4 (like Synthroid), your body still depends on the health of your liver to convert the inactive T4 hormone to the active T3 hormone utilized by your cells. c. If you have/had Hashimoto’s Disease, you have an autoimmune condition. Why would removing the thyroid gland stop this immune mutation? This is why 50% of people with Hashi’s develop other, often far worse, autoimmune conditions like MS, fibromyalgia, lupus, RA and so many more (it’s a pandemic now). In all three points, nutritional changes can make a huge difference. Starting with cleaning up your gut and liver to maximize the drug (like Synthroid) utilization to preventing other autoimmune diseases from developing. It’s true that once you have Hashi’s you have it forever – this includes me. But, you can get to a place of remission, be symptoms-free and live a full life!

Spicy head cannon
Lol also kinda silly...it was meant to be
KALE X CHAI
Phone sex times I guess also irony it was supposed the be chai that ended up fapping huh go figure. With a splash of attempted after care
Also sorry for it not being that good ^^;
(added note , it got spicier than intended...and Chai is 25 and Kale is 38 they're both consenting adults got a problem just block me or unfollow shrugs. )
One point Kale totally called Chai after watching him beat up his security and destroyed Rekka, he couldn't get the man out of his head at all, like he shouldn't be impressed...that... natural ability and strength, despite him calling him a defect, he hates how Chai's defect actually makes him perfect.
He loosened his tie and swallowed thickly he couldn't believe he was about to...ask him for this but it wasn't as if the staff had been exactly capable of capturing Chai in the first place...so he couldn't...make a proposal or a favourable trade in person.
....
Chai had been in the hideout, thankfully there was a spare room that he'd made his own when he got the message through his phone....a call from an unknown person... without thinking (cause come on it's Chai) answered it only to stare dumb foundedly as he saw Kale looking... flushed and a little dishevelled, odd considering he always looked so proper.
"Are you calling to make a deal dude, want us to stop and you'll put an end to Spectrum."
"Spectra and no, but I am willing to trade something for a favour."
Chai sat up, still not exactly sure what was going on...but Kale seemed a little... breathless.
"What kind of deal we talking about , I don't know how to fix the coffee machine, I know someone made it decaf on purpose though, god you gotta he a real asshole for that."
"Yeah...and what else am I besides that Chai."
Kale pressed him , while Chai completely missed the hitch in his voice
"Oh I'll tell you what you are Mr Vandelay, a no good, capitalist bastard that-"
Chai blinked face going red
"Dude are you?!"
Chai noticed the shoulder movement of Kale's right arm and the intense stare and how bright and beautiful Kale's eyes looked against the crimson hue of his cheeks
"I swear to god Chai, if you hang up, I'll hunt you down and face fuck everyone of your insults back down your throat."
Shit...Chai had not expected to find that so.....hot...the growl, the fact that Kale had called him, needed to get off to him...
"Don't get shy on me now... please..."
That near whine in Kale's voice put a shit ton of confidence in Chai, more than he should have as he leaned forward
"So Kale...let me get this straight...you want me to tell your that you're just a piece of shit... huh, nothing more than a desperate pathetic needy brat that needs a Defect to look after him?"
Where the hell had that come from, Kale didn't know but he didn't care Chai had hit his kink right on the fucking head, leaning back he finished undoing his tie, exposing a teasing hint of his metal plating.
He had an arm up above his head waiting for more.
"My favour , you get close to catching us...you let us run."
"Once... I'll let you run once Defect."
Kale spat out but , there was no real venom , he was just getting impatient.
"You're lucky I'm not there."
"Oh and why is that?"
"Am I connected to your blue tooth head piece?"
He asked casually, which drove Kale insane, how dare he be so nonchalant in this , but those eyes still staring at him, still watching him, Chai's focus was solely on him.
"Yes of course."
And then Kale froze as he heard Chai's voice just go a little deeper, how...how could he be such a dumb ass and still do THAT.
"You're lucky I'm not there, I'd have my fingers around your throat, remind you just how pathetic you really are..."
That little sigh Chai followed with , the kind you gave when you appreciated what you saw before you had Kale squeezing his cock a little tighter listening waiting for more
"I'd force your head back against that ridiculous pretentious seat , fingers trailing down your body, you'd have your hands bound, but not with your tie..."
"What with ...what..what would you use?"
Kale glanced at Chai's scarf as he watched him pull it from his neck and wind it between both hands , making it taut in the middle
"The thing that helped me when I didn't have this tech, what supported me would be binding you heh or maybe I'd gag you with it, make it nice and tight so your pretty mouth couldn't say a single fucking thing..."
Kale watched eagerly as Chai leaned in a little closer
"After all the only thing that mouth is good for is sucking my cock....and you'd like that wouldn't you, you little slut, look at you panting over your enemy, begging for me to get you off."
Kale couldn't believe for all of it all those puns , those insanely stupid fucking remarks he'd heard on the camera footage he was getting to see a side of Chai none of them knew about , this was his , this moment was his, pre cum was spilling past his fingers , smearing along the length of his cock, it throbbed, completely engorged, glowing orange lines pulsed.
"You'd have to beg me before I'd let you climb on me Vandelay."
Kale went still and stared at him , something predatory in his eyes and for a moment Chai wondered if he'd gone too far.
"You'd let me ... wouldn't you? You wouldn't make me beg like that and then not let me...I don't beg for anyone Chai..."
Kale felt a sense of pride as he saw Chai's cheeks go red and nodded.
Chai was sat in the darkness off his room with only the phone screen to light it up, but the way he felt now he might as well he ablaze , Kale had handed him control, given it to him willingly... to him of all people.
"Can I see?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because I want to look at you Chai, I want to see the way you look at me, if you ever get caught...I'll have my head of security send you to me personally...and you'll be mine Chai...you do realise that don't you kid."
"I'm an adult , twenty five to be exact thank you."
And there it was that usual Chai charm that pouting stupidity of a man who was a brat just as much as he could be one.
"Fucking idiot of course I know you're an adult, I wouldn't be doing this with you if you weren't."
Kale snapped at him, getting frustrated.
"How old are you?" Chai grinned enjoying that Kale was indeed getting pissy.
"Thirty eight got a problem with that? Can we please resu-"
Oh shit the look Chai just pulled , he'd just loaded the proverbial cannon and Chai was about to degrade him to the end, it seemed no, Chai didn't mind at all...not one bit
"Look at you, not only are you a pathetic ass, but you're a dirty old man, twinks get you off huh? Bet you'd just love it if I pushed you back on your desk and fucked you raw huh..."
Chai looked him up and down biting his lip.
"I'd gag you and have your thighs spread, you'd ache and whine like a desperate whore who hasn't been fucked in years and I'm the best fucking thing you've ever had, that wouldn't be your hand around your cock right now Vandelay.."
He flexed his robotic fingers one by one smirking
"I'd make you cum Kale, until it hurt...and you'd be the one begging for me not to stop because let's be honest, the moment you realised I'd decimated Rekka you wanted me to destroy your ass and ruin any pride you had."
Shit he hoped he'd used decimated in the right way, he wasn't that good with certain words but he got his answer as Kale bent over , fighting to look up at him, moaning, lips parted , wincing as a streak of cum actually splashed across his cheek and nearly hit him in the eye.
A shaky breath left Kale's lips, ha what pride, he'd just called his enemy to degrade him over the phone and loved every moment of it, he thought it'd get him out of his system...but now it was an itch under his skin, his plating, someone who's had a taste of something and they needed more.
"Hey Kale..."
Chai said softly which caught the older man by surprise as he watched him reach a hand forward, and realised...Chai was mimicking the motion of stroking his face and brushing back his hair
"What are you doing?"
Kale asked, still dazed but a little confused.
"After care...you did such a good job, here let me just..."
He motioned his scarf as if he were wiping Kales cheek clean and Kale was lost... he'd lost and he knew it ...he'd keep fighting him but...he'd lost because...now he felt how big the office was, how alone he was and the idea of Chai making a genuine fuss of him after all of that....
"Thank you...Chai."
Chai blinked owlishly, that was the first time Kale had said his name without malice or it sounding like he was still calling him defect.
But before he could say anything Kale had already hung up.
But it was not the last time they had a call like that.

How Should I Eat Now that I’m Pregnant?
Eating a healthy diet while pregnant is one of the best things you can do for your baby and yourself. This can help prevent too much weight gain, along with avoiding gestational diabetes, anemia, premature labor and a low birth weight baby.
When considering a “healthy diet” while pregnant, emphasize a balance between food quantity (in the form of calories and grams of protein per day) along with food quality. Food quality (aka nutrient-dense foods) is just as important as food quantity because the foods you consume not only impact you but will impact your fetus, too.
The exact amount of healthy weight gain during pregnancy varies, but in general, could be 25–35 pounds for a normal weight woman, 10–20 pounds for an overweight woman and 35–45 pounds for an underweight woman. (These are only ballpark ranges; please seek more specific advice from your healthcare provider.)
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO EAT IN BALANCE?
The main rule to remember is: Eating for two definitely does not mean eating twice as much food. Overall, pregnant women need about 300 extra nutrient-dense calories per day. Where these calories come from matters. If you consume sweets or junk food, the extra calories don’t provide the nutrients your baby needs. As a result your growing baby will not get the vitamins and minerals it needs from your body.
Ensure every meal is balanced to make sure you are getting adequate nutrients and calories for both yourself and your baby. Eating in balance also helps you stave off food cravings. Aim to have some form of protein, fat and slow-release carbohydrates with every meal and snack. Also aim to have about half of a plate of non-starchy vegetables for two meals per day.
TARGET CALORIE GOALS
For most normal-weight pregnant women, the right amount of calories is:
First trimester: About 1,800 calories per day
Second trimester: About 2,200 calories per day
Third trimester: About 2,400 calories per day
TARGET PROTEIN GOALS
During your entire pregnancy, try to get 75–100 grams of protein per day. Aim for approximately 6 ounces per meal. Good sources of animal protein are chicken, turkey, fish and omega-3 eggs. Plant-based options include beans as well as organic tofu and tempeh.
TARGET FAT GOALS
It’s important not to skimp on your fat intake during pregnancy. Fats (and the fatty acids they contain) are especially important during pregnancy because they support your baby’s brain and eye development — both before and after birth. Fats also help the placenta and other tissues grow, and studies show that some fats may help prevent preterm birth and low birth weight.
In general, you’ll want to aim for at least two tablespoons per meal. Healthy fat sources include: nuts and seeds of any kind, unsweetened coconut, coconut oil/butter, nut or seed butter, olives, olive oil, ghee, cocoa butter and avocados
TARGET CARBOHYDRATE GOALS
Out of the three major macronutrients discussed here, carbohydrates have the biggest impact on your short-term blood glucose levels. When foods containing carbohydrates are consumed, the hormone insulin is released into the bloodstream to help move glucose from the blood into our cells, causing blood glucose (or blood sugar) levels to rise.
High blood glucose levels during pregnancy are associated with an increased risk of the mother developing gestational diabetes during pregnancy and Type 2 diabetes in the future. However, carbohydrates should not be feared or avoided. Aim to include a variety of more nutrient-dense carbohydrates into your daily diet including 100% whole grains, 100% whole-grain breads, beans, fresh fruit and starchy vegetables (potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, beets, winter squash) and non-starchy vegetables (asparagus, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, carrots, cauliflower, leafy greens, etc).
In general, aim for 150–250 grams of carbohydrates per day — less if you have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

ADDITIONAL NUTRIENTS TO CONSUME
FOLIC ACID
Folate is a B vitamin that helps prevent neural tube defects and serious abnormalities of the brain and spinal cord. The synthetic form of folate found in supplements and fortified foods is known as folic acid. Folic acid supplementation has been shown to decrease the risk of premature birth.
Aim to get 400–800 micrograms a day of folate or folic acid before conception and throughout pregnancy. Good sources: Fortified 100% whole-grain cereals are great sources of folic acid. Leafy green vegetables, citrus fruits and dried beans and peas are also high in the nutrient.
CALCIUM
You and your baby need calcium for strong bones and teeth. Calcium also helps your circulatory, muscular and nervous systems run normally.
Aim to get 1,000 milligrams of calcium a day.
Good sources: Dairy products are the best absorbed sources of calcium. Nondairy sources include broccoli and kale.
IRON
Your body uses iron to make hemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to your tissues. During pregnancy, you need double the amount of iron that nonpregnant women need. Your body needs this iron to make more blood to supply oxygen to your baby.
If you don’t have enough iron stores or get enough iron during pregnancy, you could develop iron-deficiency anemia. You might become fatigued. Severe iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy also increases your risk of premature birth, having a low birth weight baby and postpartum depression.
Aim to get 27 milligrams a day.
Good Sources: Lean red meat, poultry and fish, as well as iron-fortified breakfast cereals, beans and vegetables.
*Consider seeing a registered dietitian nutritionist to discuss a more personalized eating plan during your entire pregnancy. Also reach out to your healthcare provider to discuss appropriate supplementation during your pregnancy.
