"Are you positive you don't want me to come with you?"

The building you were standing outside of was only a couple of stories high, but to the man next to you, it was as daunting as the world's largest skyscraper. While his expression couldn't be observed through his bangs or in his stiff stature, he was radiating with the anticipation of a student approaching their final test. His raccoon companion didn't seem that optimistic as he sat on his shoulders.

"Of course, dear! It won't be long until I've reigned in my victory," Poe exclaimed, jostling a stack of freshly written books in his arms. "Go wait in the car. I'll be with you in five minutes!"

You remained waiting outside for a bit as he walked inside, his boots stuttering against the entryway before the door slammed against him from behind, allowing Karl to slip back through and into your arms. He purred as you scratched his back, getting back in the car and exchanging a knowing look with the chauffeur.

"The tissues have been restocked, and the blankets are underneath the seat."

You nodded. "Thank you."

One minute went by. Then two. Three.

"(Name)!" a muffled voice whined from outside the car.

There it was.

Poe flung open the door before crawling into the car, drawing himself into your arms as he let out a series of dramatic murmurs. You ignored the way the chauffeur drew up the window separating the two halves of the car, instead focusing on swaddling the Guild's master architect into a blanket and haphazardly lying him on your chest as Karl nestled around your shoulders, one hand nestled in his hair while the other held out tissues for him to use as his leisure.

"Shh, it's okay, my love."

Your position would've undoubtedly looked hilarious to anyone who could see through the car windows, with his lanky legs too tall for the seat and his entire body drowning out yours—luckily, the windows were tinted.

"He solved them before he even finished the first page!"

You couldn't hold back a little snort, wiping his bangs away to see his exasperated expression. "That's the world's greatest detective for you."

He pouted as he nuzzled into your chest, mumbling that this was 'his greatest failure' and that 'he would never succeed.' You sighed, rocking him back and forth, hand braced against his back.

"That only means the satisfaction of beating him will be twice as sweet."

It was as if those words, sifting through his mind, made him snap out of his self-loathing. Like that, everything clicked, and he shot up with vigor, pen already in hand.

"I'll just need to make the next novel even better!"

"Mhm," you hummed, pressing a kiss against his cheek as you swept another hand through his curls. "I'm certain you will."

The flush returned to his face, and he hid his expression away from you. "Thank you, dear."

okay rambles but i started creatively writing in like ... 5th grade? and. oh god just a little encouragement to anyone looking to get into writing or insecure or whatnot, but HELLS, maybe it's to he expected with my (obviously) very young age and inexperience with writing then, but my writing was really. yeah. Yeah. but then i'm what... a lot older now, obviously, and my writing has gotten leagues better. i'm probably not a good example for this bcs childhood years development stuff are different etc etc BUT practicing writing more and whatnot really does go a long way :]

#⋯ ꒰ა starry thoughts ໒꒱ *·˚#my writing in 2020 is a lot different than my writing now even! especially so compared to my writing from 2010s #reading a lot of media is also really important :] i always read a lot of books BUT i only started to really read poetry since the pandemic #which were uh basically my early teenage years so idk if i'm a good example for this bcs childhood brain development and stuff (???)#BUT STILL ..... playing games like ffxiv and being really invested in the lore and writing + reading more poems and being fascinated with #more authors and pieces of literature + expanding my general vocabulary knowledge whatnot ... it all really goes a long way!#oh man i'm pretty proud of myself actually. i do love my writing. as imperfect (as all things are) it is.#i had a lot of Pauses with writing throughout my uhh relatively short life thus far since i'm NOT yet an adult and all aha but yeah!#so bless ffxiv again for bringing back my writing spirit... and other medias and whatever <3 #rn i have to thank bg3 for bringing back my Creative Spirit bcs i've been writing a lot more again and having/working on my creative ideas!!#okay i just wanted to ramble a bit lol ^_^ there!#idk my being a writer is very important to me. and my journey as one too.#i want to make a book one day! most feasibly would be to make a collection of short stories :] a bit similar to 'm is for magic' maybe bcs #i grew up with that lol neil gaiman i adore you <3 #i have a very special original world in my head but i am a little selfish and want to keep them all to myself... oops. or who knows!#anyway i have a lot of ideas and i adore writing and literature sooo much <3 #anyway. okay. leaving it here.#cheering on every writer author whatever out there !!! unless you're a sucky person of course yuck bigots but yeah ^^ <3 #huge writing inspo for me is uhhhhhhhh. thinking #ffxiv! does ffxiv count. esp drk quests. and shb as a whole. and then... edgar allan poe? neil gaiman? yeah?#can't remember anyone else good gods but i love vivid and imaginative storytelling and writing descriptively :] a bit of prose but also #quite simple in its eloquence (???) unsure honestly oh gods anyway BYE rambles over apollo signing off beep boop AGHHHHH (screams)

WHAT DO I USE TO DRAW ?

the app i use is ibispaint x ! the brushes i use are the default ones alr there like dip pen (hard), felt tip pen (soft/hard) and marker!

for traditional, i literally js use a cheap ass blank notebook and a 0.7 tip mechanical pencil. lineart is done using brustro pens or a cheap black pen if im lazy :P

i might take breaks randomly, highschool is CRAZY rn and i have to actually start focusing on my studies cuz i cant be a silly lil kid that draws silly guys anymore 😢

my blog will contain spoilers, not much as i myself am still in book 6 but ill make sure to tag it all properly :).

Y/N thrived on pursuing her goal to be better than everyone else; perhaps this was because, no matter what was put in front of her, she could master it in the same time it took for her to sign her name. However, there were just one elusive person who managed to best her at almost every turn, constantly sending her into a state of extreme frustration.

xavier thorpe.

It has been test after test, assignment after assignment, esoteric research project after obscure test to show this seemingly faultless monster that you are better in comparison to him, yet you have consistently fallen short by a single point.

Your professor declared their team the winners of the debate as you watched fuming and glared at the towering brunette as he quickly offered his counterargument. When you heard footsteps coming your way and saw his well shined shoes approaching, you huffed while packing your bags and the hairs on the back of your neck stood up.

"well hey, better luck at the poe cup tonight's maybe you'll get second? again." xavier chuckled at the murderous glare that adorned your face as you watched his own smug smirk.

however, your stare down was cut short by a sneeze from the boy in question. drawing your attention to his previously forgotten red nose, stuffy, and cracking voice and his pale complexion as he placed a hand on your shoulder for balance while fighting against a coughing attack directed into the arm not holding your own.

xavier never ever got sick.

he had an excellent immune system, he ate well, was relatively active, and slept his full 8 hours.

so when he began to lose his voice, constantly sneeze and sniffle, felt dizzy and looked paler than his usual healthy shade, xavier was pissed, and ignored it, he had an annoying girl to beat, and a poe cup to win.

"uh xavier? you sound a bit.. si-"

"no! no i don't, just need some water! okay!" xavier's words were barely intelligible to you due to his continuous and brash coughing.

"you sound like a tuba xavier, go to the nurse."

that was the first and last time you ever thought he would require you to give him any sort of serious and slightly friendly advice, yet later that night he still showed up at your dorm, accompanied by that same coughing and a fever.

and slurred words, due to his choice of medicine. that being 6 shots of tequila.

"what- kind- of- hggfh- logic! is that xavier thorpe!" you spoke, with paused between so you could wack him with your pillow, as you tugged on his clammy hand to pull him to rest on your bed.

"well i thought that y'know it would work okay!" xavier was a surprisingly sensible drunk, just so sick he could barely stand.

seeing your questioning look remained, he fought his sickness to explain himself, still trying to seem smarter even with the amount of alcohol in his body, and the fever running through it.

" m'thought i could drown the sick out with drinks.. clears surface wounds s' why not internal?"

despite his current state of sickness and drunk, you couldn’t withhold the boisterous laughter from hearing his reasoning.

xavier didn’t appreciate being laughed at, eyebrows pinched, tone sharp,

“and why are you laughing at me?”

"because that's dumb."

"you're dumb."

xavier continued his insults despite you attempting to lull him to sleep in your own bed, "you're stupid,"

the insults kept flying out of his mouth,

“stupid pretty" he seemed to have changed his tune, head lolled to the side on your pillow, facing a funny angle as he dopely reacher out his lanky arm to poke his finger at your face repeatedly, muttering assorted compliments and insults.

"no hey hey hey!" xavier protested way too loudly as he saw you begin to set up sleep for yourself on the floor.

he tapped the snug spot beside him in your single bed, signalling you to join him. you sighed, knowing that fighting with xavier, drunk or sober, he always gets what he wants.

and right now he wants you.
