The people who 'uwuify' him get on my nerves a little. You can like Volo and want to make him redeemable without erasing or belittling the bad he did.

He did do bad things. He made terrible choices. He was an asshole, he was manipulative, he could have killed a child. But he regrets it in the end. He's bitter and angry but he let's it go when he's beaten, plot armour of being a video game aside

But "Volo is/was a villain/bad person" and "Volo is redeemable" are statements that can and should co-exist. Villains are not always inexcuable, iredeemable characters and completely erasing or ignoring what they did is not always the best way to get fluffy redemption plots out of them.

C'mon people don't be so scared of complex characters and perosnalities and learn to have a little FUN with balancing those aspects of a muse.

Gerard Keay looks just as he did in death: just shy of thirty, long dyed black hair with outgrown reddish blond roots, smudged eyeliner ( they were traveling, he hadn't brought or cared much ), faint burn scars and eye tattoos... a sunken paleness in his face, drained enough to expose veins... the kind of look that only a sickly person on their deathbed would have, and he's stuck with it. His appearance must match the descriptions in whatever statements he has had the misfortune of appearing in, but he didn't expect this one to recognize him.

"This place'll make you see things, you know how it is." He shrugs, biting back a mischievous grin as he lets his form fade for a few moments— it takes effort, he wasn't meant to have control over his manifestation ( all the time in the world to learn, at least ), but he manages to silently appear behind her, tapping her shoulder and no doubt sending a chill through it. "Dead serious. All these haunted artifacts and you didn't think at least one had a ghost clinging to it?"

His love language is a pretty even split between physical touch and words of affirmation. Both mean a lot and are impactful to him, especially after so many years post-canon spent alone for touch.

And it depends on what he's explaining. Explaining how something works or teaching someone something, yes. He's a surprisingly good and patient teacher, and naturally very passionate about explaining history and mythos.

Explaining himself or his emotions however? Terrible, awful, help him. So much miscomunication or misunderstandings that could be avoided if this poor dumbass knew how to explain himself.
