Hello can u do a Rashta X Reader Hcs on how Rashta would act if the reader is a Noble who felt bad for her and Helped her escape
How would she react to seeing the reader again Before and after Rashta Became Empress??
(The first Rashta x reader request I've received, well other than than the yandere one, but a singular Rashta request that only puts spotlight on our relationship with her? I'mma die here but write it up to you!!!! Also Angst warning...)
Tumblr media
Rashta X Reader:
I don't think...I'm ever gonna let you leave...
Tumblr media
♘ Rashta who became friends with you after you saw her seven months pregnant trying to climb a tree in your estate to get some fruits, you instantly stopped her and got yourself a ladder and offered her some of the rarest fruits in your estate's garden, you later on found out she was the slave belonging to Rimwell family.
♘ Though she greeted you informally, she was bubbly, lively and a kind person, along with being beautiful, she was also thoughtful and always though how she could help someone in need, no matter of their status or colour. You would also always keep track of how she's doing in the Rinwell estate.
♘ You were great friends with her and sooner or later, the Rimwell family got to know your companionship with her and they banned her from leaving the estate worrying if she told you about her abuse.
♘ You knew they were horrible people and your assumptions were right seeing how they treated Rashta and soon you got a spy installed there who became the most trusted employee of the family, your spy who knew everything going on inside the place reported everything to you and eventually you learned about Lotteshu going to kill Rashta's child, though you couldn't do anything you allowed her chances to escape in which she succeeded.
♘ Unfortunately, you lost track of her after she began running away, and you couldn't find her for a few weeks after that, until you received a invitation for a banquet in celebration of the emperor's new concubine.
♘ You saw Rashta there, dressed up in a cute blue dress talking with a few aristocratic ladies, but seeing how she was talking and behaving you realised that she still hasn't been educated and still isn't accepted by the empress.
♘ But since you didn't want to take her spot-light, you stayed near your own group, not too far from her, but even through the whole dinner, even when she saw you, she only glared at you, making you all confused, but you didn't interact with her the whole night...
♘ This happened many times and eventually you both didn't even glance at each-other, once Rashta bumped into you on purpose and it started a rumour about you being one of the people who bought her when she was a slave, this hurt you a lot, eventually you stopped caring about how she was doing in the palace and stopped attending banquets held in her honour, including one of her pregnancy.
♘ But you would often have people give you information on her and sooner or later you learnt that the Rimwell family again got into contact with her, but this time you couldn't do anything as you both weren't close anymore.....
♘ The Rimwell family was blackmailing her by using her first child Ian, saying they would reveal her baby and her backstory to the imperial family and so would get her banished...
♘ Later you learnt how the empress's brother sneaked in abortion pills in Rashta's meal form your dear friend working as a servant at the castle, but you couldn't do anything..
♘ Sooner or later, you had to compulsorily attend the divorce of the emperor and empress, where the empress got the permission to remarry and she ended up remarrying Heinry, the king from the Western Kingdom, and Rashta was declared empress.
♘ Everybody in the empire was doubtful of Rashta being the empress, including you, you knew she still wasn't educated enough, how would she be able to handle a huge empire without knowing the basics of it???
♘ Soon, you had biggest gut feeling something horrible was going to happen between the Eastern Empire and the Western Kingdom due to the feud between the emperor Sovieshu, the ex-empress Navier, King Heinrey and Rashta...
♘ Fortunately, you were right, a huge war broke out between the Western Kingdom and Eastern Empire, luckily as you were one of the huge nobles, you were able to store enough supplies to keep you and all your servants and their family healthy and safe under your watch...
♘ The eastern empire was defeated and it became a part of the Western kingdom, making it the Western empire. Luckily all your closed ones and you were safe, but even then you wished you could have the chance to meet Rashta once again as your dear friend.

Is that LUCAS ‘LUKE’ MORRISON? A SOPHOMORE originally from MANHATTAN, NY, they decided to come to Ogden College to study ECONOMICS. They’re THE PROUD ELITE on campus, but even they could get blamed for Greer’s disappearance.
BASICS
Name: Lucas Kellen Morrison
Pronouns: He/him
Height: 6'2”
Sexuality: Straight
Gender: Cismale
Age (current): Twenty
❝ A picture perfect family - THE GOLDEN GIRL and THE PROUD ELITE, both able to charm any crowd they are in. Many would think that they were the Morrison twins with how close they are. But no - Greer is just the eldest, a perfect daughter, and The Proud Elite is the apple of his parent’s eyes. Is there pressure on both of their shoulders? Of course, but they handle it well. Or appear to. And they have each other, which has to help. Right? ❞
Tumblr media
RELATIONSHIP TO GREER...
After the initial years of bickering and childish disdain had worn, Luke’s relationship with his sister had become nothing less than a friend and a confidant. Someone to talk to and to help protect, worse came to worse. After all, who else was more like you in the world than that of a sibling? An occupant of the same row of hanging fruit on the family tree; the only one familiar and understanding of what it was like to grow up and carry the burden all your parent’s inevitable faults; the only other one in the whole world who could help in coping and navigating the world. Kinship was a bond unmatched, but a match Luke and Greer were. They were the centers of the room without meaning to be— two planets in orbit, able to, with ease, converse with anyone. In a way, they were yin and yang— he the fire and her the water, however to his helplessness, his sister naturally had a way of slipping into dark cracks and crevices of which he was not able to reach nor see. It was this time, by the fear of many, including his own, that she was lost for good.
Tumblr media
HOW THEY EMBODY THEIR TROPE...
The proud elite. A golden lion, mane and all, a roar so loud that it deafened his own ears. In a way, Luke and all the other cubs of the 1% couldn’t help it— it was all they knew, and well, the erasure of twenty years of memory from someone’s young adult life was simply hard to do. This ‘lavishness’ and ‘polished’ lifestyle was evident with him, in the way he dressed, in the choices he made, the tone he spoke with and the hobbies he picked, like enacting crutches to a seemingly groomed personality of perfectionism. The thought of being anything less than the best had been instilled as a harrowing fault for Luke from an early age; growing into a man he had acquired a sense of confidence and societal role that made him feel as though he were on the right track, along with Greer. His aristocratic trajectory was fate, as was those less than him. Steadfast he must continue, no matter the unyielding pressure from his parents after she went missing to maintain flawlessness— no matter the way others seemed to gawk at him now, especially in the light of updates on the case— no matter, no matter… He was the proud elite, the lion’s cub rising from the den: exemplary he would remain. Perfect he would have to be.
EXTRACURRICULARS: Lacrosse (attack) & VP of recruitment for Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE)
Tumblr media
PERSONALITY...
♘ confident, charismatic, inclusive, informed, clever, decisive, brave ♞ condescending, arrogant, quick-tempered, blunt
Tumblr media
CONNECTIONS(?)...
THE ICE QUEEN and THE UNFAVORITEare firmly on the opposite side of a familial fault from THE PROUD ELITE and THE GOLDEN GIRL. But these relationships are sure to get more complicated now that they’re all at Ogden with Greer nowhere to be found.
In high school, it didn’t take long for THE GOLDEN GIRL to start butting heads with THE GO-GETTER GIRL… the past (and any lingering awkwardness) between THE PROUD ELITE and The Go-Getter Girl is surely just a coincidence.
Once upon a time, THE BRUISER WITH A SOFT CENTER was friends with THE PROUD ELITE, even though he was employed by their family. But disdain for THE GOLDEN GIRL and all she stood for couldn’t help but complicate their relationship.
THE TRUSTY SIDEKICK has to be at the side of someone, right? While he and THE GOLDEN GIRL seemed to just be surface level, a friendship with THE PROUD ELITE explains why he was always so quick lend a hand to her. Or maybe he’s just that nice!
THE PROUD ELITE is intelligent, there’s no question about it. But he also knows that the truly intelligent use their resources - hence THE GOLDEN GIRL connecting him with THE ERUDITE STONER as soon as he was on campus.
Surely they aren’t friends….but THE PROUD ELITE quite possibly was an even bigger customer of THE SCHOLARSHIP STUDENT than THE GOLDEN GIRL was. Though he’d likely deny it, if you asked.
Well, they aren’t called THE FEMME FATALE for no reason, and despite their loyalty to THE GOLDEN GIRL, even THE PROUD ELITE couldn’t resist them. Poor Greer, with her brother’s previous unfailing loyalty wavering in the face of a hook-up.
THE PROUD ELITE and THE HEDONIST are both extremely privileged for many reasons - the least of which isn’t how close to THE GOLDEN GIRL they are. Not just anyone gets a seat in her inner circle.
If there’s one thing THE GOLDEN GIRL counted on from her circle, it was being everyone’s favorite. So if she learned that THE FALLEN PRINCESS and THE PROUD ELITE had been growing closer behind her back? Well, can’t imagine her liking that.
THE PROUD ELITE has been untrusting of THE PUPPETMASTER and their relationship with THE GOLDEN GIRL…but without Greer, will they manage to get another Morrison on their strings to pull?

♘ ― ❝ ever was or ever will be? ❞ she mumbled the words back to herself, her gaze still fixed on the center console. it was a lot of information to take in all at once. she didn't mind deviating from her own timeline as it was mostly filled with unnecessary war and things she'd rather leave lost to time. it sounded rather simple to avoid that.
she tentatively returned her sights towards the tardis doors. It was a time machine, so if she left, it would be as though she had been gone for a measly five minutes. There would be no harm in escaping for a short time... right?

TOJI FUSHIGURO AND RYOUMEN SUKUNA WERE AN UNLIKELY DUO. One that was only formed by their mutual love for violence and had blossomed into a full-fledged brotherhood. The same could be said for all the boys that they lived with, as they have all managed to go through a lot and still stick together through anything. But this situation Geto’s got himself in, has definitely rocked the boat.
“The hell were you thinking? Fucking someone like Jade?!” Choso cursed harshley the night Wendy and Gojo found out about Geto’s distasteful escapade.
Nanami leaned against the island counter, glasses shading his stoner eyes as he listened on silently, Gojo sat with Wendy on his lap in one of the seats at the table as Choso sat next to them while Geto was at the head. Toji and Sukuna towered behind Geto with their spots against the wall, watching Choso rip into their friend.
“I wasn’t thinking! Just fucking--FUCK man!”
The thick cut table shook from Geto’s fist hitting it harshly, frustration taking over as he shifted uncomfortably in the comfortable chair. Toji could tell that the artistic man felt cornered by everyone in the room. Geto could hide behind his heavily tatted figure and disinterested eyes with most people, but when it came to the people in this room it didn’t work.
“I don’t think you understand, Suguru, Jade is not just some regular bitch you fuck cause you’re bored. Y/n rejected you and you got upset so you slept with her best friend, someone you knew would have no morals about fucking you, why? Because she’s insanely infatuated with you and you took advantage of that. And that, takes some serious fucking thought.”
As Wendy tore into Geto for his shallow behavior and faux obliviousness, Toji wondered how Y/n would take this information. His and Sukuna’s halloween party would be the next night and Y/n was, obviously, invited to attend as well as her boyfriend, which would be a situation in itself. All of them knew of Geto’s wounded heart after Y/n shot him down two months ago, although none of them seriously believed she didn’t have feelings for him. And Toji figured he’d try to move on with someone else but not with Jade.
Nanami’s movement in the kitchen is what caught everyone’s attention as he wordlessly moved to stand next to Geto.
“We won’t say anything--” “You a damn lie! Who is ‘we’?!” “Baby!” “--we won’t say anything because Y/n will find out and when she does, her reaction will be your karma. But, let this be known, we don’t ever want to see Jade around here again. Your actions aren’t supported by any of us and we are not liable for anything that may, or may not, happen.”
Silence stilled the room as they all registered Nanami’s words. The drug dealer never talked much, finding the usage of a lot of words pointless when everyone was trying to speak, but when he did talk it was often worth listening to.
That was yesterday. And today, Toji was seriously regretting this party.
Tumblr media
SHE WAS NOT LIKING THE VIBES AT ALL, as her and Kenji sat in a secluded area with the gang. The party started four hours ago at the industrial warehouse the boys rented out. Y/n was sat on Kenji’s lap, back pressed against his chest as the two of them shared a blunt. It seemed like everyone else was on edge and every time Y/n’s eyes met Jade’s battered face, the question kept raising alarms in her head; What the hell happened?
Wendy seemed extra annoyed, having not touched a single blunt the whole time. Utahime and Mei Mei held hushed conversations with Sukuna and Choso, something about mid-terms and tutoring. Shoko and Toji kept small talk, commenting on random things here and there. Gojo tried speaking with Wendy, but she kept brushing him off. Nanami sat in a seat on his own, man spreading his legs as he smoked a blunt and hand out drugs to partygoers as they came. Jade was stiff as a rod sitting next to Geto, her eyes flickering between Y/n’s curious glare and Wendy’s murderous look.
“Are you guys always this fucking lame?” Kenji’s blunt tone tore through the unsteady atmosphere suddenly.
Y/n moved to pop his hand as a warning, reminding him that he was still on thin ice. Lately, the girl was discovering more and more about her boyfriend that she didn’t like. With that, she also discovered that she compared Kenji to Geto a lot and so far, the latter was winning.
“Depends. Are you always so fucking stupid?” Wendy responded just as smartly as Kenji did, a narrow glare on her face.
Gojo slapped his hand to his face in embarrassment whilst the others hid their poorly concealed laughs at Wendy’s comment. Y/n shook her head at Wendy’s antics but didn’t bother to defend Kenji’s disgusting honor. He had walked into that one himself and he would walk right back out by himself.
Kenji himself let out a chuckle but it held no humor. He bit his tongue for the moment, knowing that if he were to cross a line with his comments, at least one guy was bound to beat his ass. Sukuna would probably jump in just because, so Kenji played it safe and readjusted Y/n on his lap with a tighter grip.
Y/n, however, took the brief quarrel between her best friend and boyfriend, as an opportunity to study the two people sitting across from her. Jade’s makeup did a decent job at covering her bruises but she could tell her face was still a bit swollen from whatever the fuck happened. Geto appeared calm, but Y/n had studied his body language enough to know that he was anxious about something. And it was when he tilted his neck a certain way, that Y/n noticed the purpling bruise peeking through.
“Who you fuckin?” The question was sudden and caused everyone to pause what they were doing to watch the situation unfold.
It wasn’t really Y/n’s business to know who Geto was fucking at this point, but something was telling her that she needed to know. And from the anxious look that passed across his face, told Y/n that it was something she wasn’t going to like.
The tattoo artist scoffed, a hand coming to push his loose hair, back. “The hell? Wha’kind of question is that?”
Y/n raised an eyebrow, finding his defensive behavior questionable. “A question. You the one acting weird as fuck over there, staring at me and shit all night. So, who you fuckin?”
“Why does it matter?” Jade chimed in, speaking to Y/n the first time that night.
Her attention shifted to the girl next to him and she looked at her inquisitively. “And you’re speaking because?? Are you the one fucking him?” Y/n wasn’t prepared for the silence she was met with after her rhetorical question.
And as the silence settled, a realization dawned on her. “Y’all been sleeping together?” Y/n’s voice came out soft and low, her body now leaning forward off of Kenji’s chest as she eyed the two liars.
“Answer me!” She yelled, a feeling of rage beginning to grow within her the longer they went without answering.
Y/n hadn’t felt Kenji loosening his grip on her or notice everyone else slightly shift out of the way. All she could focus on was their lips, watching them in anticipation for their answers.
Jade, with teary eyes and shaky breathing, had answered her. “Yes.”
Her reaction was instant, the smack that rang through the air over the loud music was a sign of her anger. But one hit wasn’t enough and Y/n found herself fucking up Jade’s face even more. She delivered hit after hit after hit, words of disapproval spewed from her mouth in hot rage. She couldn’t believe that they’d do this to her. That they’d fuck around like that and then hide it.
“Fuck you! FUCK! YOU!” Y/n screamed, tears of her own blurring her vision as her hands found Jade’s neck. “I trusted you! And this is what the fuck I get? Huh?” Her grip tightening around the girls’ neck ‘til she was gasping for air.
“Ok, that’s enough. She’s going to kill her!” Mei Mei’s worried voice broke the others from their trance and it caused Geto to move and grab Y/n off of Jade.
But that was a mistake, because soon after he pulled her off, her fist had connected with his jaw as she landed a nasty left hook on his face. “Oh Shit!” Nanami had cursed, watching the blood flow from Geto’s face.
Taking his distraction as an opportunity, Y/n started hitting him. Landing hits near his eye and fucked up nose while he poorly shielded himself. “Fucking whore! I fucking hate you!”
Geto just sat there and took the hits he was receiving, guilt and anguish making it difficult for him to breathe. He’d never seen her this angry, this hurt, before and it had him regretting everything he ever did with Jade. She wasn’t worth this. She wasn’t worth the looks of disgust he’d get from Y/n.
Kenji finally made a move to restrain his hysterical girlfriend, allowing her to get a few punches in before taking her off the man. Y/n have a swift kick to Geto’s dick just as Kenji lifted her off him. The sight had the other guys holding their own in phantom pain.
“I can’t—“ a shaky gasp for air was heard as Y/n struggled to speak. “I can’t believe you. After all i’ve done—oh God.”
Kenji worked to quiet her sobs, Wendy helping him in getting Y/n to calm down and breathe. Jade was her best friend and to sleep with a man she had such close relations with. . .Geto knew better. He could’ve chosen anyone else but chose the person would hurt her the most. And she wasn’t sure if she could ever recover from that.
“Come on baby. Come on.” Kenji ushered gently into her ear, tugging at her waist to leave the section they were in.
“You both are fucking dead to me.” She spat venomously at their bloody faces with a hateful glare. “Dead.”
And that hurt Geto more than he’d know.

Curses and Gangs 2
By now, a week had passed, and you hadn't heard from Baji. However, as you went back to Shibuya hoping to get more information, you passed by a group of people. "Did you hear that Toman's first division captain was in the hospital?"
Now, you weren't one that enjoyed surprises, but hearing this made you glance back to the people now behind you. Pulling out your phone, you sped-dialed Baji's number and hoped to those above he would answer. “Y/N?"
"Where are you right now?" You ask suddenly, which he hesitated to give an answer.
"I'm at home." He lied, though you scoffed and glanced at the hospital building in front of you.
"Then I'll be right over," you said before ending the call, not giving him time to say anything. Walking inside the building, you moved to the front desk.
"Here to visit?" The receptionist asks, which you nod. "What's the name?"
"Keisuke Baji." You said as you put your phone into your pocket.
"Third floor, room 329," they answer before clicking the button, allowing the doors to open up for you. Moving to the elevator, you click the floor number and watched as the doors closed. As the numbers changed, the elevator slowed as it reached the third floor.
Stepping off, you looked at the signs to get to the correct room. Looking over the name within the nameplate, you saw "Baji Keisuke" staring at you. Knocking on the door, you waited for the response of, "come in."
Opening the door, you could see an odd group of people standing around him. Someone with peach-like orange hair and a twin with blue, a blonde kid with an undercut, another blonde with the worst hairstyle, Draken, Mikey, and a kid with silver hair. "Oh, god," Keisuke muttered as he slowly slid underneath the covers.
"So this is your new "home"? Is it cozy? Does it have a nice kitchen?" You ask sarcastically as you pulled the cover back on his face.
"I can explain, (Y/N), just don't be mad," he started, which you nod.
"So, anyone in here wants to explain why he's in the hospital? Or should I just assume the worst?" You asked as you looked at the other boys, though most of them had sweat beading down their forehead or face.
"Funny story, actually," Chifuyu started, which you glanced at him.
"So the story's funny? Okay, continue."
"Kazutora stabbed him because he was manipulated." He answered, which you turned to Baji.
"What's the first thing I told you not to do, Baji? I warned you about this next fight, and how it might be your last. What was the one thing I told you to do?" You ask with minimal patience.
"To not die-," he answered.
"Right," you say immediately. "And what was the one thing you almost did?"
"Died-," he answers again.
"Right! You almost died. Pull some shit like this again and I'm gonna cut off all your hair," you threaten, which he moved under the cover.
"Did I forget to mention he stabbed himself to clear Kazutora's name?" Chifuyu found amusement in the situation, but Keisuke's face turned to dread.
"Did he now?" You ask slowly, which the undercut blond nodded. Turning to the boy in the hospital bed, you grip the cover and pulled it off his head. "Ya know, Baji, my fist and your gut are gonna become good friends the moment you get out of this hospital."
"Sorry," the utter embarrassment coursing through his body was unmatched, especially because you lectured him while his friends were in the room.
"We'll see how sorry you are," you mutter before moving to leave the room. "Draken, if he pulls some shit like this again, just hurt him," then you leave the room.
"Who was that?" Takemichi asked nervously.
"That’s Y/N, the one I told you was from mine and Baji's school. They're a jujutsu sorcerer, like the rest of us. They are aggressive toward Baji because of his recklessness." Draken explained, which most of the others sighed in relief.
"Chifu, you little bitch. You rat me out," Kei scowled, though Chifu just smiled at him.
"They were concerned about you, so I told them what happened," he said innocently, though the black-haired buy just sighed.
"Asshole," he muttered, though that didn't bother him.
"So the whole jujutsu thing is real? Curses exist and they kill people? You fight them off?" Mitsuya asked out of the blue, causing both Draken and Baji to look at him.
"Both of us and (Y/N), as you met earlier. It's a private school in Tokyo." Draken stated as he crossed his arms, though he planned on going after you later and talking. "And it's not something you would want to be part of."
"You make it sound like it's something bad, the whole killing curses thing." the boys' optimism was misplaced, given they thought killing curses would be the only thing to happen.
"That's cause it is, but someone has to do it. If (Y/N) were here, they would tell you what it's like being born and raised as a sorcerer. They didn't have much of a childhood. That's the reason they cling to me and Draken so much. Didn't really have friends and shit growin' up." Keisuke rolled his eyes before reaching for the hospital phone.
Dialing your number, the dial tone rang before you picked up the phone. "Get your ass back to the hospital," he said into the phone.
"Bitch, why?" You asked from the other side of the line.
"So you can talk to the others." He stated before ending the call, giving you no time to say or suggest something else. Either way, given as you were just outside the hospital, you stepped back inside and got onto the elevators.
"Tch, dumbass," you muttered before knocking on the door. "What, Keisuke? What do you want?"
"Our friends are curious about what it's like being a jujutsu sorcerer," Draken spoke up, which you glanced at the other boys in the room.
"Stop being curious, then. It's utter dogshit, but if no one else does it, people die. Even then, people die. Now, your boy Mikey was egotistical enough to come with us last mission, which won't happen again," you reprimand as you cocked your head to the blonde. "Just don't try tangling yourself with the world you don't understand, okay?"
"But-" Mitsuya started, though you rolled your eyes in annoyance.
"But nothing, m'kay? The biggest thing you have to worry about is little gang fights. Keep that as your main focus. Losing petty fights with another boy band is better than almost losing your life to retrieve fingers for a curse that can't die." You correct before taking out your phone. "Is that all? I have to meet up with our teacher soon."
As you move to the door, you hear one question that stopped your motions. "What's so bad about not being a jujutsu sorcerer? It sounds badass!"
"The inability to take back what you've lost." Opening the door, you left the room and heard it slam behind you. If these boys were going to be this much of a headache, you would need to reprimand Keisuke and Draken by telling them to keep their secret life and public life different.
As you approached the teacher's classroom, you knocked on the door, hoping to have a moment to speak with your teacher, Masamichi Yaga. "Y/N, is something the matter?" He asked as he turned to you, which you nodded before sitting at the front desk.
"So... Baji and Draken have a friend, creepy guy, probably fakes most of his emotions, but he killed a special-grade and can see cursed energy," You start, causing him to look up from his doll-making. "But I don't want him to go here."
"You said a moment ago you think he feigns his emotions. Is that the reason you don't want whoever this guy is to not go here?" He asked as he continued making the green doll.
"Yep, well, one of the reasons. His name is Mikey, and his name is infamous in the delinquent world. There's just something unsettling about him... and it's not just the emotions part. He may act innocent, but for a 14-year-old, he has something akin to bloodlust." You explain before resting your head in your hands.
"Should Baji or Ken decide to bring him here, I'll tell them he's not fit to be a jujutsu sorcerer. By the way you're putting it, if Mikey were to go here, he would become a curse user like Suguru did," he said casually, though this was information to you.
"Suguru Geto's a curse user now? What happened? He used to be one of the top students in the class." As the information was news to you, you never expected Suguru to be the type to turn to the dark side.
"All I know was that after the second-years failed to bring the Star Plasma Vessel back safely, Geto changed for the worse. He dropped out a week ago." Yaga explained, which you shook your head.
"Has anyone else gone through a dramatic change that I should know? I mean, they are the second-years. I know Gojo was probably the most affected by this, but anyone else?" You ask as you trace your fingers over the desk.
"Not quite sure yet. Why don't you go up to them and ask? It wouldn't hurt to try talking to them," Yaga suggested, though you shook your head.
"They're... I'm not really a people person, teach. I don't think they'll be interested in getting to know an underclassman." You explain before dipping your head.
"On a more serious note, Y/N, how has your training gone? I know it has the toll of disrupting emotions, but have you learned it?" He asked, which you tilted your head.
"Kind of, but I'm still working on it. I know it's an L/N clan thing, but the heartbeat resonance technique is difficult to master. What's worse is that no one left behind anything about it." You mutter before dropping your head.
"Well, there's an age-old book in the library about a technique jujutsu sorcerers would use to keep themselves from passing out. If you look for the title under the historical section, I'm sure you'll be able to find it. Just make sure your technique is under control so something like that bus situation wouldn't happen again." He warned as you got up from the desk, though you rolled your eyes.
"I was six," you defended yourself, though it didn't change anything.
"And you accidentally killed 30 people because you were excited to see a movie," Masamichi reminded as he finished making the cursed doll. As you left the room, he needed to say one other thing. "Some of the other faculty were thinking of raising you to special grade level, but only if you can get your heartbeat under control."
Stepping out of the room next, you sighed and made your way to the library. However, just as you stepped inside, your phone rang, prompting you to step back out. "What do you want, Baji? And before you say some stupid shit, I'm not gonna visit your friends."
"Where are you right now?" He asked, causing your face to contort into confusion.
"Why do you need to know? I'm busy right now," you say with annoyance as you once again stepped inside the library. You were set on finding that book, and no amount of persuasion would change it.
"Then stop being busy. There's something here and we need your help," he said, making you grumble something incoherent under your breath.
"And by 'we', you mean you and Draken only, right? Because if you had Mikey there with you, it would be dangerous, right?" You accent the words, though you didn't hear anything from the other side of the line. "Do not, and I mean, do not let Mikey be there. Take his ass home, Baji." You damn near demanded, though seeing as you hadn't told the others your reasoning for Mikey being untrustworthy, it was safe to assume the looks on their faces were uncertain ones.
"He helped kill the special-grade curse. Don't you think he's reliable?" Kei tried defending his friend, but you pinched the bridge of your nose.
"It's because he killed a special-grade that he's unreliable. Do not do anything while I'm not there. Just wait for me to get there." You say before ending the call and moving toward the door. Your book-hunting days would have to wait until the night.

“What did it look like?”
“Hmm?” Levi looked up from his place next to your sleeping form. “The titan that tried to snack on my darling granddaughter.” “Ugly as fuck.” “Aren’t they all?”
Levi recounts memories of the reader and their shared life together while she recovers from a serious injury.

Breaking the News
↞♞♘↠
Your budding relationship with Levi wasn’t a secret. It just hadn’t been formally announced in a grandiose speech to the entire scouting legion. That didn’t mean you wouldn’t tell people if they prodded you hard enough.
“You told him.” Jean smirked as you walked towards the dining hall. “That stupid grin that never leaves your face says it all.”
It hadn’t even been two full days since you had confessed, of course he would have caught on by now. He knew you too well.
“...I hate how well you know me.”
~~~
“Levi, I just went to your office to find you.” Petra began, tapping her finger idly along the polished wood of the library table. Levi looked up from his book with a raised eyebrow.
“...And I found Y/N lounging in there instead.” Petra’s lips wobbled in a poor attempt to contain her excitement. Levi sighed and blinked up at her.
“Please tell me the two of you are finally together!” She demanded sweetly, leaning over the table in giddy suspense.
“We are.”
Despite Levi’s outward nonchalance, he too was quite giddy. And he thought that word and his name would never have been remotely connected. He felt utterly happy, but that didn’t mean he had to parade this newfound bliss around. The official standing of your relationship wasn’t a new installment in everyone’s lives. It was between you and him.
It was simple. If someone asked, the two of you would tell them. But that casual openness didn’t pertain to Hange and Erwin. Oh no, the two of you wanted to mess with two of the most important people in your lives.
Believe it or not, Erwin had a pension for gossip. Being commander, naturally he liked to be informed on all of the happenings in his jurisdiction. Hange, also having an insatiable desire of the unknown, was the corps worst and most persistent snoop. So, to have a bit of fun, you and Levi decided to make a game out of it. And those who did know were told to keep their mouths shut until you were done.
“ERWIN!” Hange’s bellow was a swift precursor to the boisterous body slam that crashed against Erwin’s locked office doors. Erwin’s eyes flicked up from his desk towards the cacophony. A muffled groan of pain fell upon the commander’s ears as he strode to unlock his office. Once the locks clicked, Hange uncrumpled herself and walked in.
“Sorry, I was trying to be dramatic but your door was locked. She huffed and rolled her wrists as they cracked. Erwin regarded at her as if this was in their daily routine.
“What can I do for you, Hange?” He posed calmly, clasping his hands together behind his back.
“I saw Levi and Y/N having lunch together at one of the outdoor tables.” She said in utter seriousness and leaned in. Erwin raised his brows as she continued to stare at him with wide eyes.
“They do interact, you know.” He responded, unimpressed by this mundane observation. Hange shook her head vehemently.
“Yes yes I know. But Levi took some food from her plate. He never does that with anyone. Doesn’t want their cooties.” Hange elaborated, her tone viscous with conspiracy.
Now this did peak the commander’s interest. His hand came to rub at his freshly shaven jaw at the thought provoking scenario.
"That is unusual.” Erwin mused.
He would have liked to give the two of you the benefit of the doubt on confiding in him the status of your relations-as both your commanding officer and a friend. But he couldn’t deny Hange’s claim. She was right, Levi never shared food willingly.
“Time to investigate?” Hange suggested with a wily grin. An impish half smile blossomed on Erwin's lips and he sealed her proposal with a nod.
Let’s just say...all of their investigatory attempts had failed thus far.
They started out simple; discretely corralling the two of you to sit by each other at meals and watching for affectionate gestures.
Which got them:
Nothing. Save for you taking Levi’s plate to be cleaned…but you did that for everyone else at the table as well.
~~~
Erwin felt he was justified in saying he and Levi had a close relationship spanning many years at this point. Thus he would like to think he knew him well enough to be skeptical that Levi would be the jealous type. Hange, on the other hand, couldn't have disagreed more.
Erwin’s thumb brushed along the ceramic pot of the freshly planted wild daisies as he flagged down a passing cadet.
“Cadet.” He called. His level voice stopped the kid in his tracks with wide eyes. He jogged over and stood straight in front of his superior officer on the outskirts of the training grounds where you were currently waiting for your next batch of cadets. Levi was sitting a few meters away fiddling with a broken 3DM harness in his lap as he too waited for more brats to train.
“Yes sir?” The young man saluted him. Erwin silently extended his floral hand to him. The young man blinked in confusion at the gesture. It only hit Erwin then, what this looked like. He cleared his throat and pursed his lips.
“Go place these next to Squad Leader Y/N.” Erwin instructed without a hint of jest and nodded towards where you were leaning along the fence. You looked like you were dozing off as you waited. “It’s for landscaping.”
Erwin noted the sheer perplexiity that radiated off of the boy, but the cadet didn’t question the simple order given to him. Erwin watched from afar as he approached your oblivious form.
The disorientation of the early stages of a nap mixed with the sudden tap on your shoulder made you startle. You gripped the poor kid by the arm, immediately causing him to drop the potted flowers. You instinctively threw him over your shoulder and he hit the ground hard .
“Oh Ymir, I’m so sorry!” You profusely apologized as the cadet groaned and rubbed his hip. Erwin sighed at his failed plan as you helped the boy back up and explained to him you weren’t usually that jittery.
“Nice throw.” Levi commented when the cadet was out of earshot.
~~~
Hange’s last ditch attempt was to once she was done talking to Levi in his office, suddenly demand she has to use the restroom and insist that it absolutely cannot wait. This was in the hopes of Levi graciously letting her use his and she could briefly snoop around his bedroom and ensuite for any signs of you.
All she got was a gracious shove outside of his office and a request to take care of her business out in the hallway instead.
↞↠↞↠↞↠
Once they had exhausted their plans, Erwin called Hange into his office on a humid summer evening.
Hange swiveled in circles behind Erwin’s office desk, her legs propelling her gently round and round in his chair.  Erwin leisurely reclined on the leather couch after regrouping on their failures thus far.
“There is a festival in town this week.” Erwin spoke up.
“Are you asking me out on a date?” Hange asked on her way around, her head lazily slung against the headrest of the seat.
“No.”
“Shame, haven’t been on a date in so long.”
“If we’re still serious about getting to the bottom of this, I’ll make it mandatory for everyone to go into town for the market fete.” He proposed and chewed at his bottom lip in thought.
Hange pursed her lips as she pondered his suggestion. She halted her spinning and rolled over to him.
“Go on.” She urged at his tantalizing proposal.
“As you know, I usually give everyone the day off during the festival every year in case they want to go. A few of our officers usually volunteer to help out and engage with the community.” Erwin explained.
“This time I’ll require all-”
“For the love of Ymir, minus cadets please. Could you imagine how many babies that would be to manage?” Hange interjected with an exhale.
“Right, only squad members will take the day off.”
“This will ensure that both Levi and Y/N are there. We’ll say it will be a good opportunity to not only volunteer for the community, but create transparency between the military and civilians. There’s going to be dancing, music, and food so they’re bound to sneak off together at some point. We will keep a vigilant watch.” Erwin said eloquently. He then looked at his subordinate expectantly.
Hange blinked.
“I was going to suggest we start a small, controlled fire in my laboratory while both of them are in there to garner a romantic rescue scene. But let’s go with your idea. It’s not necessarily better...but it’s easier.” Hange nodded in affirmation.
“Let’s save the pyrotechnics as our very last resort.” He agreed.
“We’ll have to be resourceful while we are there. Know our environment, and what triggers might expose their everlasting love to us.” Hange said with dreamy determination.
↞↠↞↠↞↠
When Erwin announced that it was mandatory for all upper level officers to volunteer, you had commissioned Oma to send you tulips to sell at the local flower shop’s booth. Your fingers nimbly weaved stems of tulips and other assorted angiosperms into delicate flower crowns while the rest of your body bopped along to the lively fiddle music that flooded the square in front of you.
“Go out there.” Your stall mate, the heavily pregnant owner of the shop, urged when she noticed your little dancing. Villagers were laughing as they line danced to the upbeat music, couples swirled in a whirlwind of giggles, and others preferred to freestyle on their own. You looked from the shop owner to the square and back again in a fleeting moment of contemplation.
“No, I couldn’t. We came here to volunteer, not dance.” You politely declined her offer with a warm grin. “Maybe later tonight.”
She shrugged and resumed arranging a bouquet of peonies. You had placed your crown out for display and had just barely reached for a fresh tulip when a distantly familiar voice called your name over the merriment.
“ Luca ?” Your breathy voice rose with your shocked smile. “No way, it’s been ages!”
Across the counter stood the remnants of a boy you had been acquainted with at banquets and other high end events before enlisting into the corps. To say he was quite different from when you last saw him would have been a grave understatement.
“It really has! Walls, it’s had to have been since we were 17 right?”
From the perpendicular side of the square, even Levi had to forcibly admit...he was handsome as fuck.
Sickeningly handsome.
Perfect teeth of the highest bleached marble. Perfect hair the shade sunbaked bronze bricks. Perfectly pressed suit jacket and trousers. Perfectly annoying how he garnered such sweet laughter from you.
How would he like a perfectly undercooked, scalding pancake all over his perfect face?
Levi took pleasure in holding the title as reigning king of outward indifference.
Keyword: outward .
Levi didn’t generally think of himself as jealous or walls forbid over-possessive. But when he finally allowed himself to acknowledge his affections for you, irrational feelings of abandonment surfaced more than he would have liked. Possessiveness would pick at his insides and fester there until your imprint was felt in his waiting arms. He would never act on it, unless it was someone clearly making you feel uncomfortable, especially not before you two made your feelings known to each other. But now that he was yours and you were his, any false threat that could take you away from him was an intrusive thought he couldn’t shake. His past self would have snickered at how his emotions had him whipped into a constant cycle of elation and fear of deprivation. But he would now rather feel that than nothing at all without you.
Levi was quite the sight himself. There he resided behind his booth, situated at the long iron skillet with a frilled apron (courtesy of the crepe shop and unwillingly placed onto him) cinched around his waist. He simultaneously burned a hole right through the jubilant townspeople and the bubbling pancake batter sizzling on the griddle. Hange would later say he resembled a small gremlin who didn’t take his job seriously enough.
“Two strawberry crepes, please.” An older woman requested politely. Levi made a noise of acknowledgement, only looking down briefly to flay the batter out in a thin circle. His fingers flexed in the direction of the strawberries, missing them by an inch as he continued his eagle eyed spying.
Don’t inch closer to her.
Erwin, stood next to the goblin in a matching apron, watched as the woman watched Levi who was watching you. He sighed, shoving the tub of berries within range of Levi’s grasp. His eyes finally snapped away from you at the smell of burning batter. He rolled the poor crepe and plopped it onto the woman’s plate.
Those soft hands wouldn’t ever be able to make you feel as good as mine.
“Um-these are burnt.” She accused, her voice still ringing pleasantly despite her disappointment. Levi blankly took the whipped cream and gave her a heaping dollop.
“There, now you can’t tell.” He said simply. The customer looked at Erwin and he gave her a cringed smile.
“I apologize, ma’am. Let me make you another one.” He offered.
~~~
“When I heard you and the kid you used to sometimes bring as your date to events-” Luca began, his bright grin never wayining.
“Jean.” You clarified.
“Yeah him! When I heard you guys joined the survey corps I gotta say I wasn’t surprised with you, given your Oma. I was a bit devastated that I wouldn’t get to see your beautiful face for awhile, though.” He smoothly slid the flirty comment over the counter to you.
You did a double take, chuckling softly before he started speaking again.
“It’s good to see you unscathed. You’re so brave, you know that?” His dazzling boyish smile and clear attentiveness towards you made the pregnant woman giggle from the other corner.
“Thank you for saying that.” You replied sweetly. His compliments were coming on very strong and out of nowhere. Your mind buzzed with ways to politely accept them without leading him on.
“But what are you up to? The last time I saw you, you were my height and wanted to be a lawyer.” You chuckled nostalgically, seeing that now he was a good head taller than you.
His bright laugh made Levi want to gag on the sunspots that seemed to come out of his mouth.
“I’m actually a banker now. I’m training to take over for my dad when he retires.” He said with enthusiasm.
You were about to continue the conversation when the pregnant woman interjected.
“Young man, would you please take this young lady to dance? She disobeyed my orders to go enjoy herself for one song after helping me with this stall all afternoon.” The woman winked at you and you gaped. Luca held out his hand to you.
Levi thought of himself as a collected person. He really did. He wasn’t controlling. He trusted you. What he didn’t trust were sharp tongue nobles who clearly had a history with you by the way you were reacting.
“You heard your boss, Y/N. The flowers won’t miss you for one dance.” Luca’s sweet lopsided grin and the innocent insistence of the shop owner urged you to reach out to take his hand.
“Fine, one dance.” You said with a growing smile of your own. You felt bad about leaving your post, but your legs had been itching to dance all afternoon. And it might be fun to catch up with Luca. You glanced over towards the one who you would rather be side stepping around the cobblestone with, only he wasn’t at his booth.
But when you stepped around the corner and reached out for the hand extended to you, another found its way to wrap at your side.
“Ah, Levi-” You noted in surprise, but didn’t fight the tender hand at your waist. It was an unusually bold statement for him, his close proximity catching you off guard.
“Are you another friend of Y/N?” Luca asked with a candied voice that made Levi’s organs want to shrivel up. He stared at him for a moment, while you waited in anticipation for his answer. Your heart excitedly beat against your chest and his fingers twitched against your hip.
“The boyfriend actually.” His voice dripped with a supple bitterness that made Luca’s eyebrows shoot up. You regarded Levi with your mouth agape; his cheeks were blushed a soft red and his lips were raw from toying with them. He looked utterly adorable.
“I see. It was nice catching up with you, Y/N.” He gave you an understanding smile and backed off. You said your goodbyes and turned to Levi.
“Well does my boyfriend want to dance with me, then?” You teased. Your heart was fluttering viciously at his use of the word.
Levi felt the curve of your waist under his palm, saw the love that swirled in your irises, and basked in the affection of your rosy cheeks and excited grin.
Fuck it. He wanted to experience life with you, no matter who saw or what others thought. It was time to live.
“One dance." He mumbled, cursing the rosy flames of affection that baked his face.
You gasped when he led you into the square and began leading you in time with the music. You melted into his embrace, blowing a kiss to Erwin and Hange who were situated near the pancake booth, gawking at the two of you.
“Well, Erwin, looks like we didn’t even have to exercise our other plans.” Hange sighed, leaning against his booth and grinning as more soldiers joined in dancing after seeing you two go.
“Indeed. I like seeing him happy.” A genuine smile unfolded on Erwin’s lips. Hange hummed in agreement and looked over to her booth. Under the table she had stashed a box of assorted fireworks and other merriment explosives.
“Well, shit, what am I going to do with these fireworks now?” She exclaimed.
“I’m sure you will think of something.”
Assumptions
↞♞♘↠
“It’s dumb.” You admitted sheepishly. Levi wasn’t dissuaded by your weak dismissal.
“So? I hear dumb shit on the daily.” He countered.
The two of you were having a friendly, celebratory tea break the week of your promotion to squad leader when the topic of the beginnings of your interactions casually came up.
“Once I realized you were tough on me and the other cadets because you needed to be, I didn’t take it personally anymore. I guess I was just a bit distant at first because…” You trailed off, trying to place your words correctly without offending him.
Levi waited patiently as the tick tocking of his office clock filled the pause in conversation. His chest clenched as he explored all possible responses you could give him.
“I assumed you wouldn’t like me because of my background. That you might have thought I was pretentious.” You admitted, meeting his gaze for a brief moment before turning them downwards towards your tea cup. His stomach dropped at your confession and at the bashful way your beautiful eyes wouldn't meet his.
“Why would you think I would hate you just because you grew up more well off than me?” He asked gently. His heart stung with a small tinge of offense. Not at you, but at himself. He could be quite a distant p;erson, and he knew that. But he would never want you to think he hated you.
“I dunno, Petra mentioned to me how you came from the underground and I know-well I don’t know-actually how…” You said bashfully. You had never enjoyed discussions about the monetary values of your upbringing. You wanted to be known for you , not any price tag associated with you.
“How write and disgusting it is?” He added. You nodded slowly.
Levi felt a prick at his pride that you once thought he would have judged you as such and would have written you off entirely. He took a generous sip of his tea and let the space between you ferment.
“...That is pretty stupid.” The harsh words left his lips with a honeyed coating. You felt momentarily idiotic, but it was immediately washed away.
“If anything, you’ve shown me that not all people with money are assholes.” He continued.
“The underground made me who I am, just as Krolva made you how you are. It’s by chance what we’re born into. If I hated you for that then it’d be like hating you for existing.”
His sincerity spanned from his words to his eyes that now regarded you with inviting tenderness. His openness gave heated kisses to your cheeks as you settled into a bittersweet silence. Your nerves had been dissipated, and Levi’s had been ignited with his increasingly unbearable feelings for you.
“...And I don’t.” He added quickly, the heat of his cheeks rising with the steam of his drink.

[ under the cut is the entire history written out on my blog. all 7000+ words of it. i figured it would be better to have it all in one place, so here it is! ]
[ WARNING: this is a summary of the all of the story of tales of legendia, as well as chloe’s past pre-game and her character quest, all recounted from her perspective ]
[ i genuinely commend everyone who sits through this <3 ]
chloe valens was the only child of lord and lady valens, esteemed nobles from the holy kingdom of gadoria, known all throughout the world as both a family of great nobility and of skilled, unwavering knights. she grew up in a happy household environment, learning swordsmanship and etiquette from both her mother and father, steadily becoming the perfect heir to the valens line.
of course, nothing perfect can last long.
it was on their way back to the valens household, with rain pounding against the roof of the carriage, that they were attacked. she could do little other than watch as the bandits raided the carriage, clashing swords with her parents; she could do even less as, one after the other, her parents fell, life drained from their eyes. that spurred her on, however, her legs moving seemingly on her own. as she took up her father’s blade, she felt no fear– yet, she froze as the threat left the bandit’s mouth, fear rearing its ugly maw in the back of her mind.
chloe valens was weak, that day, and the image of a serpent tattoo remained burned into her brain.
that was the last time she would ever be weak.
she swore her revenge, even as her world crumbled around her. even as the valens name fell onto her shoulders, and even as she cracked under the pressure of maintaining her family’s honour– a task simply impossible for a child. despite the whispered words of doubt and the quiet mockery, her head remained held high.
it was all for nought in the end; the valens name was stripped of all its power and influence.
as a simple knight, she had no duty to her name any longer. instead, she had only one goal– revenge. failure to avenge her parents that day stuck at the back of her mind, gnawing at her every thought, an issue desperate to be resolved. her mind turned to revenge, and it became her only goal ( for no matter where she would travel, what good deeds she would perform, the darkness that enveloped her would not be banished until the day she took revenge– no matter what she did, the question would be posed to all she met; “do you know of a swordsman with a snake tattoo?“ )
she felt no regrets as she requested her hair to be cut, and similarly felt nothing as her eyes found the long locks on the floor of her bedroom, the only tie to the girl she once was now severed.
that was her oath, her determination; she would not rest until her parents were avenged.
she didn’t quite imagine that, several months after beginning her search on the legacy, she would be drawn in by a gigantic pillar of light and subsequently in a mad dash to retrieve a brash, white-haired fighter’s younger sister from the various powers desperate to have the merines’ power for themselves.
her sense of justice spurs her on, despite coolidge’s brazen and inconsiderate nature, not letting her turn her back on someone in need. initially, she thinks not of the people she would ally herself with, instead thinking only of the scared young woman trapped in the bandit’s lair, separated from her only family. she would be a terrible knight were she turn her back and walk away upon hearing such a plight.
while she didn’t expect that the girl, shirley, would be whisked away by a blonde with pitch-black wings and a foul attitude to match. upon seeing it happen, however, she didn’t once hesitate to give chase alongside coolidge and raynard. norma soon joins their ragtag group ( and gives out absurd nicknames, she thinks, though she makes only minimal complaints )
they corner him in the secret passage– the resulting brawl leaves the winged man injured, and returns shirley to her brother’s side. the simpler part comes now, returning to werites beacon, though even that proves to be less cut-and-dry than expected. the appearance of the oresoren ( positively adorable creatures, she’ll admit ) and their tearful request for their group to defeat the “long long demon” proved to be something necessary for them to progress back towards the town–
though she hadn’t expected coolidge to be such a fool, splitting off from the group with shirley and losing her to vaclav’s forces.
( the next time she sees him, she has to bite back a snide “i told you so” )
she can’t bring herself to be surprised when, even after she departs with raynard in search of jay the unseen, coolidge and norma appear soon after with harriet in tow. she’s reluctant to trust him, considering both his previous attitude and stunts– but she’s always preferred trust over doubt.
chloe valens places her faith in not only coolidge, but all of them.
their plan ( courtesy of jay– an ally for sure, they’ve established ) is an expertly-crafted one, with little that could pull it apart. lady luck proves to be against them, however– after all, who could have foreseen the bandits’ interference?
in the carnage that follows, she catches a glimpse of a snake tattoo on the masked terror’s arm, and all those thoughts of revenge come flooding back. stingle the vicious, one of vaclav bolud’s three terrors. it hits her, however, that she is no longer alone– no, coolidge is fighting by her side and shirley has already broken free and entered the waterways.
( with a part of her screaming to continue fighting, she disengages and enters the waterways herself. )
the name doesn’t properly settle in her mind until it’s far too late, until shirley has once again just barely evaded their grasp and the rushing water sweeps them all away. it crosses her mind as she flails and gaps out pleas for help, that she really should have known something like this would happen– nobody would name a ruin ‘the waterways’ without reason. regardless, she finds herself soaked and at the base of a waterfall, one of her best-kept secrets now known by another.
( why, oh why did it have to be him )
sandor becomes the next unlikely member of their unusual group, much to the chagrin of most ( if not all ) of the existing members. she quietly laments how loud their group has become, though their progression is not hindered by the new addition– they find themselves outside the ruins of frozen light soon enough, and then descending into the great hollow ( where she desperately attempts to drown out the thought of underwater travel by listening to raynard’s monster-related babbling and the bickering between norma and sandor )
to her credit, she looks far less ashamed than she feels upon coming to inside the ruins of frozen light after passing out as water flooded into the popo mk. II. nevertheless, she continues on, and they soon reach vaclav and shirley in the ruin depths. though she doesn’t exactly understand the events that unfold there ( the name “stella”, she’s certain, still rings in all of their minds ) not until later, she still wastes no time in rushing forward into battle– even after their loss, she moves with purpose, escaping the ruins and entering the forest of no return.
( she remains ashamed of her actions, of how easily she lost herself upon seeing stingle in the smouldering bandit camp,of how determined she was to take the man’s life– so determined that her friends’ welfare left her mind entirely, and once again revenge found its way to the forefront of her mind )
their luck appears to turn as maurits makes his appearance, once most of the ragtag group has calmed and they’ve been brought into the ferines village. they agree to aid him in his search for “the whisper crystal”, somewhere deep in the man-eating ruins ( and why oh why does she feel no surprise as norma falls for a natural trap, very nearly being eaten )
upon reaching the end of the ruins, they find the crystal, yes– as well as a woman, an amnesiac named grune. it’s a simple matter, deciding that they can’t in good conscience leave the woman ( who asks strange, strange questions, she thinks ) in such a dangerous place. grune ends up accompanying them as they return to maurits, handing over the whisper crystal.
the talk of war grinds any happiness, any contentedness into the dirt, however, as they learn of vaclav’s intentions ( and chloe herself is nothing short of furious, for nobody dares lay a finger on her homeland without incurring her w r a t h )and the feeling only intensifies as raynard firmly forbids them from involving themselves in the oncoming war.
she knows the way to clear her irritation is a good training session– she’s not exactly adverse to the idea of training alongside someone. she ends up opening up to coolidge, spilling her past ( because while people may know the public story, few know the details– and for all her grandeur as a knight, in truth she’s little but the same scared girl from all those years ago )
it’s a sigh of relief, when she finally puts her full faith, her full trust in someone– and she knows that, in turn, senel has also put that same faith and trust in her.
( it’s something that means the world to her, without a doubt )
raynard should have known, she thinks, as the four younger members of their group ( herself included, of course ) stubbornly demand to fight. they all have their own reasons, in the end, and no more doubts linger. it seems as though he can tell, considering his quick acquiescence.
they storm the battleground together.
the allied force comes together under maurits’ and jay’s strategy, automaton backup forces being steadily assembled by the ferines; their group is named as an independent platoon, their orders specific. break the enemy’s lines, don’t focus on weakening their forces. as they move along to their orders, skirting the edges of the battlefield– even the oresoren join in the fight, as much as jay would prefer they didn’t.
( and even despite their next adversary being very much of the draconic variety, they don’t let up for a second– it soon lays defeated, and their panic over the oresoren is quelled when jay himself stomps the enemies cornering them. )
jay becomes their next ally, the next member of their strange group– though he joins to fight in place of the oresoren, he is one of them all the same.
they reach the bridge with little complication.
even she can’t deny her amusement at hearing melanie’s infuriated yelling as they slip past her ( nor can she deny her disappointment upon seeing her before her as they continue their mad dash up the legacy’s bridge )
everyone is impressed, without a doubt, by jay’s show of skill against cashel ( though perhaps even more so by moses’ incredible display of self-control in the face of such cruel taunting ) and there’s a sense of satisfaction, seeing the cocky ninja being repeatedly outdone by one of their own team.
the breath she takes in upon catching sight of stingle is so sharp that she actually feels lightheaded for a moment. she knows she has to keep herself under control, that she can’t snap, not now, not now not now–
( once again she’s brought back by her friends, and even though her anger is undeniable as he flees, she knows she has a duty to carry out their mission.
she is a woman who will never abandon her duty )
the rush of emotions upon reaching the bridge is almost too much for her– the horror of seeing mount zeriques obliterated in a matter of mere seconds, terror at the prospect of the exact same thing happening to baltoga, on top of the urgency to remove stella and shirley from the nerifes cannon, her anger towards vaclav for his countless horrible deeds…
she forces her emotions under control, and draws her blade.
the battle is an arduous one, yes, but in the end they emerge victorious. stella and shirley are removed from the machine, though their relief is short-lived– vaclav fires the cannon once more, and briefly, the pit of hopelessness that opens within her threatens to swallow her whole–
until her vision is blindedby pure golden light, and her own eyes watch on as the cannon’s beam is forced up into the air by that light, in an eerily familiar shape.
the threat of the cannon may be no more, yet the mood does not lift an inch. instead, the seven of them cannot tear their gaze from their true saviour– stella, laying far too still on the bridge’s floor, gathered up in senel’s arms. as she watches on, idly listening to walter’s explanation of stella’s power and her existence as the legacy itself, she doubts that any single one of them could hope to even force a smile in such a bleaksituation.
when all is said and done, the war is over– yet they exit the bridge with their heads held low, despite shirley’s presence at their side.
slowly but surely, peace returns to the legacy. each member of their strange group remains in or around werites beacon, all pursuing their own individual goals while staying close, aiding the efforts of returning peace to the legacy.
two weeks have passed since the war.
she has since negotiated with the werites beacon hospital director, who so kindly offered her a spare room, a place to live, given that the room remains vacant. she's grateful for how accepting and kind the people of werites beacon have proved themselves to be, truly.
of course, she wasn't quite expecting to be met with harriet and coolidge outside the hospital, nor for the smaller girl to present to her a gleaming medal, a smile just as bright plastered across her face. despite her protests, it ends up in her hands ( and she can't quite hold back the mournful stare she gives the item )
all seems fine when she, norma and moses come across fenimore in the city, and head to raynard's house-- though that image is crushed as the gadorian knight captain steps out from the main room and speaks in the same belittling tone ( and once again she bites back her rising fury and instead bows, forces out words of gratitude despite her friends' outward horror )
they soon journey to the ferines' village, finding themselves in conference with maurits ( despite walter's certain displeasure at such a fact ) and, later, in a room prepared for them. while she can't help but wonder what occurs as senel leaves their room late at night, and though she attempts to offer words of comfort the group's 'leader' stubbornly hears nothing any of them have to say.
the next day, they depart for a supposed hideout of remnants of vaclav's forces, led by walter. she should have known, she thinks when walter turns on them with a sharp tongue and a venomous tone to match; though he soon leaves, an ominous warning in his wake.
their return to the altar is a swift one, made in haste-- and both the lifeless bodies of ferines and the gadorian blade driven into the ground at the entrance only serve to intensify the dread that pools in her stomach. ( it hurts, when she pleads for her friends to listen, to believe her, that she would never do something of the sort, nor condone it. it hurts when they turn away without a word of belief. )
the journey up the alter, to where shirley waits without a doubt, only fuels that sense of dread. more bodies, the faint sound of an argument far above them, the threatening zephyr that appears alongside two fearful ferines as they near the summit; all of it drags together the image of a truly bleak situation. ( one look at fenimore tells her exactly what fate she has met-- and she feels sick knowing that it was her countrymen that committed such an atrocious deed )
( she can't quite stop herself from feeling guilty )
she relishes in being able to yell, to reprimand the self-absorbed captain for his horribly twisted views. she hates the fact that he can so easily make her freeze. not even senel and walter's argument, in all of its angry yelling and furious arm-swinging, garners no reaction.
( she knows she will surely be branded a traitor for disobeying the order, an order directly from her king-- yet she wouldn't ever lift a hand to harm shirley, let alone take her life )
walter is suddenly far more threatening than he ever has been, with his hair glowing a bright blue ( like shirley's, like maurits' ) and his eres significantly more powerful than ever before. they're defeated too quickly.
it all happens far too fast-- shirley's words make no sense, and her blank tone does little to ease the situation. she barely blinks, and when she glances to the side she sees shirley's arm raised and senel trapped in an eerie-looking orb, writhing in pain. she can't quite stop herself from shouting at shirley, voice sharp and clear. it does little good, though-- she soon ends up kneeling on the ground, feeling her strength sapped out of her after shirley's ominous words ring through the air.
they hold a strange sort of gravity to them.
she's certain that all of them are grateful for the freak snowstorm ( though it ends up being grune's doing... maybe? ) that whisks them from the peak. the relief is short-lived as they are soon chased out of the area by all-too-familiar sentinel guards, leaving little time to consider the reason behind grune's conversation with her imaginary friend-- the revelation that their eres are no longer available is a worrying one, and the gravity of the situation only intensifies as they return to the city, finding that their predicament is shared among all eren.
the group is soon pulled apart by different duties, though senel faints soon after, and the remnants of the group soon have him safely in will's house, with harriet's help. harriet and grune soon take their leave, and she is called into the room-- though she would rather not, all things considered, and her apology comes sooner rather than later. she can barely look him in the eye, despite his insistence, and the yelling match that follows after only stirs her worries further.
in the end, she needn't have worried at all. it's apparent that war is not the answer, and they pledge to work together to find a solution. only after norma and grune barge their way into the room does the image of the lighthouse flash through her mind, and it soon becomes apparent that the others have experienced much the same thing.
her suspicions from the altar become fact, she soon finds, as the gadorian knight captain draws his blade at her, declaring her under arrest for treason. while she's flattered at senel's defense of her, the captain also declares him under arrest ( and she's never been more thankful for the bantam bouncers and their interventions-- the captain's plans of arrest are foiled and they continue on the path to their destination, now unhindered. )
their group is reunited at the lighthouse's open entrance, and when they enter, the elevator they unwittingly step onto descends without warning into the darkness below while norma and moses' panicked yells fill the air.
upon disembarking, chloe can't quite believe her eyes.
the place they've stumbled upon can only be described with one word: calm. the golden sand is perfectly soft, the air clean and fresh, the sea lapping at the beach without a threatening wave in sight. it's all too unreal, too good to be true. while the closed-off sky is intriguing, it is soon explained by jay-- the most important thing is the familiar itch at her fingertips, the strength flowing back into her form. her eres have returned, undoubtedly, and it appears to be the same for the others.
upon pondering their next move ( after moses' grand attempt at engaging the sentinels aboveground, which fails spectacularly-- as expected ) the same phenomenon appears. an image flashes into her mind, a compelling tug-- she knows she has to go there, and quickly. jay's suggestion spurs them on, and they begin their exploration of the underground they've found themselves in. once again her eyes fall on a familiar location, the ruin seen in her mind. the others raise similar thoughts, recognition of the red-highlighted ruins they stand before. the panel at the entrance proves useless, written in a language none of them can comprehend ( though norma makes quick work of their predicament with a simple swing of her foot. she's lucky her 'plan' didn't backfire )
inside the ruins, the heat is nothing short of stifling. briefly, she debates removing her hat and cape, though she decides against such actions. the decision to explore is made swiftly, and it's not too long before they find themselves before a glowing crystal-- upon making contact, another image floods her mind, an image of a gigantic white rectangular object floating on the ocean's surface. such an event repeats itself twice. the second image is one of an ominous light enveloping the white rectangle, and the third being a diamond-shaped mass of land. upon returning to the main room, they continue on-- a fourth crystal presents itself, and instead of an image they are pulled into a vision of the past. it soon passes, and the swirling vortex they find themselves in proves to be home to a gaet, much to will's delight. soon enough, the beast is defeated, and voices flood her mind in place of images. the earlier images are strung together in her mind, the sequence and connection now clear. it soon passes, and they find themselves outside the ruin, exhausted and confused. the oressoren's appearance is indeed a surprising one, as is the strange tablet-- they put aside their thoughts, however, and return to the newly-set-up camp.
( their discussion that night not only reviews their findings in the ruin, butestablishes that they are in the quiet lands of oresoren legends-- as well as that, according to jay's beliefs, someone both guided them there and continues to guide them, listening in on their conversations. they agree to be wary. )
this process repeats itself three more times.
before they can enter the next ruins ( blue highlights, she notes ) they are met with a very familiar face-- walter makes his appearance, though short-lived. the main room this time is so cold she wishes she had at least five more layers. once again, gleaming crystals bring visions-- the first depicts the rectangular ship next to land. the second, shows the ship setting out to sea, and the third is an image of the mainland, unnaturally damaged. upon reaching the fourth crystal, they are transported into a vision of a horrible warground, littered with the bodies of the ferines. they find themselves in the same vortex, and a gaet appears all the same. their reward for victory this time is more voices, angry and confrontational for the most part, with a desperate plea at the end. once again, the images are joined together in a coherent sequence, and upon returning to her senses she finds herself outside the ruins, exhausted, faced with another mysterious tablet.
( that night, shirley's location is confirmed at mirage palace. once again they review the images they've seen. more questions are asked, more visions are given-- the mysterious entity remains present however, and jay admits to having his own suspicions. he asks if senel is prepared, and she can see the beginnings of tension forming between the two )
the third ruin is one with vibrant yellow highlighting its walls, and intense humidity within the main room-- she can't quite hold back a terrified yelp when, of all things, thunder strikes indoors. their investigation soon begins ( after norma decides to stop embarrassing her, that is ) and concludes in much the same fashion. this time, the first image depicts what appears to be a shooting star. the second is of a still ocean, and the third shows a colossal pillar of water ( and, upon reaching the main room once more, she decides she's sick of norma's meddling ) the fourth crystal draws them into a vision of floating above the ocean-- and she can't help the fear that overtakes her, clutching onto the nearest thing ( which happens to be senel, she realises far too late. ) what she feels upon seeing the vortex is without a doubt exasperation, in the face of will and moses' enthusiasm. confused and awed voices fill her mind before the images are strung together, the shooting star crashing into the ocean. she barely blinks and they are outside once more, musing over the meaning of the visions and the appearance of yet another strange tablet.
( the night brings more discussion-- another review of the day's events, leading once more into the identity, the beliefs of the mysterious identity. she objects vocally to the prospect of the orerines and ferines being too different for peace. jay's words strike a chord within her, and while moses confronts the ninja, she contemplates her stance. the tension grows once more. )
( it's then that jay reveals his suspicions; that nerifes, the will of the sea, the sea itself, is the mysterious entity guiding them-- and that there are two separate nerifes, one above and one below, one quiet and one raging. through this revelation, they ascertain shirley's possible intentions as the merines )
( the thought of the kindhearted ferines purging mankind is not one chloe relishes )
finally, they reach the fourth ruin, a temperate zone that offers far more comfort than the previous three. norma's outbursts are yet again ignored, and their exploration commences. the first light brings about a strange image, pillars surrounding a central unit, all rising from a body of water. the second shows the legacy, the ocean surrounding it shining, not unlike the ferines' hair. the third depicted a tidal wave, courtesy of the legacy's power. returning to the main room brings them little other than norma and grune's attempt at a comedy act ( appreciated, though not necessarily well-received ) and soon they find themselves in the fourth crystal's vision-- an unknown location, surrounded by ominously glowing lights and a woman who is surely a merines of the past. it's gone all too quickly, however, and soon enough yet another gaet lays defeated at their hands.
this time, the voices are strong-willed, speaking of becoming one with nerifes, eradicating the land. she barely has time to ponder this before she watched the images strung together, the so-called “wings of light” ( or so she assumes ) proving to be the cause of the tidal wave, the cause of the destruction of half of their world’s landmass.
( at the thought of shirley doing much the same, ridding their world of the rest of its landmass, another cataclysm–her blood runs cold )
after jay speaks, no, taunts, she finds herself forcing out words of comfort as the tablet appears at senel’s feet. their return to camp is somewhat solemn, and their discussion is much the same– the word 'enemy’ in reference to the ferines is used far too much for her comfort ( though senel is, predictably, the first one to stand and vocally object, pleading for them to listen. she only does the same when jay’s words become too scathing, though even then she finds herself motivated to do little else )
nerifes’ glow interrupts them, however, and they waste no time in heading to the source– a raised image in the sand, four indents present. the tablets are soon ordered chronologically, depicting their history, the creation of the kingdom of terises.
she can’t help but raise an eyebrow at jay’s initial suggestion as the ocean glows before them– yet as will’s fingertips glow and he steps up to the water’s edge, speaking his answer clearly to nerifes and receiving a brighter glow, more powerful eres ( sacred, moses insists as he is asked next, and steps up– he doesn’t hesitate to declare his opinions, proud and strong as always. )
norma is next, and her reasons are more honest than anything, admissions that she desires simply to find the everlight– if stopping the cataclysm allows her to continue, she’ll do it. jay steps up, and his answer is steeped in fondness for the legacy, for his home. more speculation is thrown out as grune is selected next, and no words can quite grasp their collective confusion as the woman’s cheerful greeting appears to be enough of an answer for nerifes.
her own nails glow next, and she steps forward resolutely. each word that falls from her mouth is one that she sincerely believes in– so she may want peace, so she may believe it is possible. where is the fault in such hopes? her answer comes naturally.
❝ what i want is the power to stop the cataclysm, and to open a path to peace. ❞
admittedly, she feels a rush of relief as nerifes accepts her despite her overwhelming ideals, as she accepts the responsibility of nerifes' power.
( yet as nerifes refuses to hear senel's answer, she can't help but feel somewhat saddened by his outburst-- his anger, while in a way understandable, need not be directed at them. there's no reason for him to imply that he is the only person in their group that can do something about their situation )
she leaves the camp as hastily as she can upon their return, words of concern for their so-called 'leader' as she does so, following norma's lead. their group meet once more at the elevator ( because, in truth, she didn't depart to train-- she tested her eres aboveground, and was met with a very successful result, as were the others )
it's a private meeting, purposefully leaving senel out. while surprised at the somewhat harsh words from will and jay, she can see the sense in them-- at least, until the purple-clad ninja speaks of their alternative solution; killing shirley ( and her shock at the suggestion is only bolstered by his far-too-nonchalant comment, "if it comes to that, i'll do it myself". silently, she prays that it doesn't come to that as jay and moses begin to bicker once more. )
when night falls, she finds a moping senel at the water's edge. she isn't expecting him to listen to her and her perspective, despite her overwhelming sincerity-- yet he does, and he admits to her things she has never heard even the slightest inkling of as she holds the book in her hand ( operation report: merines capture. his name is there. he was one of vaclav's soldiers. his past spills out, the honesty and emotion in his voice as he reveals the dark truths of his life to her are something she has never heard from him before )
he blames himself, he admits, and for a brief moment she sees herself in him. ( the moment is shattered seconds later, when he starts talking about shirley's confession and him 'choosing' stella. she didn't quite expect the satisfaction she gets from slapping some sense into him-- literally. )
this time, she can't quite stop herself from yelling at him, because she can't quite stand seeing someone else running away from their feelings, hiding behind excuses ( and though he may not want to hear the truth, from her mouth or otherwise, it's what he needs to hear. how can he expect nerifes to understand him if he doesn't understand himself? )
her anger manifests itself in the form of another slap to the face, and the emotion in her voice when she expresses herself, how she feels in the face of his words ( "i know you so well it hurts" )
the advice she gives is sincere-- and when he tries to hide behind his excuses again, she doesn't take it, no. she repeats his weak excuses in a mocking falsetto ( later, she laments how strange that was of her, even in the heat of the moment ) before, of all things, she has to remind senel of how much shirley means to him. ( senel, who was so hell-bent on saving shirley from the forces who would use her power for evil. senel, who abandoned the prospect of help to get her to safety faster. senel, to whom shirley means more than the world. )
chloe watches on as he overcomes his doubts, as he steels his resolve-- and, when his fingertips begin to glow much the same as the rest of the group's had, she can't help but feel proud. the jovial atmosphere is quick to return as the rest of the group rush up-- the tension between senel and jay disappears as the ninja speaks of reworking their strategy ( with unwanted additions from moses, as per usual ) and, upon having the plan laid out for them and being shown to the tram, they set out for mirage palace. they reach the end of the tracks far too quickly, she thinks, and as they step out they find themselves on the winding pathways of mirage palace's courtyard.
with a last-minute pep talk from will, powerful words spurring them on, they begin their assault on mirage palace.
they fight their way through countless zephyr and automata guards, until they finally find themselves faced by walter. though their battle is exhausting, they prevail-- yet, as expected, he refuses to give up, despite his state. he can barely keep himself upright, kneeling before their group, and for a moment she finds herself understanding him and his devotion ( for in the end, he is only carrying out his duty-- something she can respect, as a woman who does much the same )
yet, despite his injuries and exhaustion, his teriques is summoned and he retreats, likely to warn ( or remove ) shirley. they catch up soon enough, and their pleas are shouted across the large chamber, desperate to reach not the merines' ears but her heart. each word of hers is a warning, but senel doesn't back down. by some miracle, as he approaches his is not lashed out at, moving until he stands at the edge of the activation circle. from where she stands, with the rest of them, few words can be made out-- the lull lasts long enough that there's hope that he has gotten through to her, though such a thought is quelled when the light brightens, and chloe knows that she hasn't given in. when shirley's teriques manifests as bright blue wings behind her and senel prepares himself for battle, walter moves to stand before them once more, defiant as ever. they don't take action-- instead, they speak of the merines' expression ( doubtful, so doubtful despite the words she so confidently spoke )
a blinding light rings out, and then both the throne's light and shirley's teriques disappears, refusing to appear despite her desperate tries.
they move closer to the throne, hopeful until maurits' voice rings out, revealing the truths senel had only ever admitted to two people: herself and stella. shirley's voice becomes dangerously blank, then pained. she speaks her doubts and grievances aloud--
and her teriques returns, as does the throne's light.
shirley herself disappears.
they move to the balcony, and can do little other than watch as the wings of light rise from the legacy, a presence grand as it is ominous.
their thoughts turn to infiltrating the wings of light after they all say their piece-- after all, what can they do with a depressed 'leader'? everyone assures senel that his promise to them is not broken, that they are all determined to save shirley, to halt the cataclysm. jay's sharp eyes catch the beams of light that extend towards the wings of light ( his suspicions are soon confirmed-- the famed 'trail across the heavens' is what they all behold. soon they are back in werites beacon while jay tests whether the tram can run across the light trail, and norma declares her intent to throw a party to the rest of them )
( though she says attendance is optional, it certainly sounds mandatory )
she ends up wandering into the fountain plaza, finding only senel to be present. they talk about people; their interactions, how difficult it is for them to understand eachother, why it's so difficult... senel asks her, a heartfelt request, to be friends with shirley when she returns-- and she's more than happy to accept such a request. the missing members of their group soon file into the fountain plaza ( as do the bantam bouncers ) and the party begins, and ends, in high spirits.
the next day, they set out for the wings of light.
while the journey across is exhilarating, they all know what they must do.
before long, walter lands in their path, alongside an automaton robot far bigger ( and likely far more dangerous as well ) than any other they've seen before. it would take a blind person to not notice how pained each word he speaks is, how even now his injuries are taking their toll. he doesn't stop, however, despite knowing well that he will likely lose his life if he continues. ( he spills his story to them, voice laced with hatred for senel, and he draws his last breath in front of them )
maurits meets them as they finally reach shirley. he proves to be more powerful than any of them could have predicted. even as the others proclaim the battle to be over, she is not so foolish-- there is more to be expected from one who concealed such power, and as his strength increases they launch into battle once more ( this time, they are left exhausted, and maurits' body is pushed past its limits. he collapses, and she can't help the quiet sigh of relief )
they rush towards her and are promptly stopped by the familiar teriques-- each of them is encased in the same ominous ball of energy ( it's painful upon activation, yet maurits is speaking with such conviction that she fights through it, listening to him reveal things they shouldn't have missed upon learning of their ancestors )
( yet he also reveals that if the wings of light activate, shirley will die, and she hates that she can't bring herself to fight, too shocked at the realisation that her ancestors were the invaders from so, so long ago. she fuels that hatred into a blast of her eres at the teriques that hold senel, because someone needs to get to shirley, and he is without a doubt the most determined. the others follow suit. )
it breaks, and her face lights up. they did it.
the threatening hum of the wings of light dies down, and the threat of the cataclysm is no more. shirley, now of her own mind, frees them all from the teriques and makes her was down, alongside senel--
yet the hum begins once again as maurits takes shirley's place, as nerifes' power rushes to him and he attacks, vicious and unyielding. shirley's pleas fall on deaf ears, and maurits makes his disdain clear.
but, in the end, shirley was right. he lost his mind to the raging nerifes.
yet she finds herself unable to stand, even with shirley in nerifes' grasp, life threatened. she feels far too weak, too weak to even stand-- she can do little but watch as senel stands, rushing forward without hesitation, using the quiet nerifes' power to free shirley.
she watches the two nerifes' powers clash-- and she doesn't hesitate to remind the duo that the rest of them are there, too. that they're all ready to fight, to carry out the quiet nerifes' will.
adrenaline pumps through her body long after maurits, after the raging nerifes, is defeated.
chloe valens gazes out over a calm ocean at her friends' sides.
( for the first time in a long while, chloe departs from the legacy. she visits her parents grave, and faces them this time with her head held high. even so, she’s remorseful, and admits to them that she has to go back. the legacy is her home now. )
as the boat sails across the vast ocean back to port-on-rage, she thinks that her parents understand her reasons, her motivation.
( she would even dare say that they would be proud of her )
she hadn’t quite expected the situation facing the legacy when she returned from the mainland, from visiting her parents’ graves. the strange mist, unnaturally powerful monsters; however, she continues with her life as normal, patrolling the outer walls of werites beacon, living peacefully on the giant ship–
at least, until she met him.
alcott, a doting single father, and his sweet daughter elsa. she had no reason to suspect him, not until they locate his previously missing person in one of vaclav’s abandoned fortresses, not until her sharp eyes caught the unmistakeable serpentine shape peeking out from beneath his sleeve.
everything she had tried to suppress came rushing back. that night, her parents, revenge.
her blade is drawn moments before the grand gaet appears and distracts the others, and though she fights she does so absentmindedly– recklessly. not once does she study the beast and its attack patterns, no, her mind had kicked into overdrive ( because she knows, she knows she has to take revenge– and she should have known from the beginning, she reprimands herself, what a fool )
she barely notices as that same ominous mist takes hold of her, and all of a sudden she is once more a young girl escaping gadoria’s capital, a sword in hand and revenge on her mind.
everything that happens under the influence of the mist is a blur, however. it’s unclear, incomplete– almost as if she were looking in on another’s memories. she knows they are her own, though. she remembers the bandit, the fear in his eyes as she growled her threat over her shoulder, his frantic footsteps as he scrambled away. she remembers snapping at her friends, at coolidge, even as he attempted to calm her down, understand her reasoning despite her frenzied state–
( she’ll never forgive herself for what she did to him. she wants to forget yet the memory is too vivid– at times, when she closes her eyes, she can see the heavy rainfall and the blood staining the floor, senel struggling to find purchase on the dampened ground with the little strength he has left. her blade bit right through his side. there’s a part of her, somewhere, that feels utterly sick. )
she finds the runaway stingle, alcott, soon enough, though their duel is short-lived. they, her friends, find them in the clearing, shouting their support despite knowing what she’s done ( senel is there with them, after all ) and drawing her slowly back towards the light. to say she was surprised upon seeing the mist manifest herself as an image of her in her younger years would be an understatement of impressive magnitude, nonetheless, she fights alongside her dear friends, and overcomes the darkness that had taken hold of her once more.
despite swearing off of revenge, however, the regrets still linger– though she puts on a brave face and spends time with those she cares for as normal, what she has done weighs heavy on her mind.
nevertheless, she suppresses those dark feelings as best she can.
instead, she smiles.

Curses and Gangs
Manga Spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Revengers. Post Star Plasma Vessel arc, mentioned. You (reader) are a jujutsu sorcerer, so is Baji, so is Draken. A one-shot of a mix between Jujutsu Kaisen and Tokyo Revengers.
Not exactly mentioned, but reader is black-coded. Can be read either way.
Tumblr media
(Y/N), a first-grade jujutsu sorcerer, and is in your first year in high school. Now, admittedly, you didn’t tell anyone besides her parents, considering they were also jujutsu sorcerers. Seeing as you had stayed at the high school dorms, you thought for a moment. Either you could live a normal life on their own, or you could live on campus knowing you wouldn’t have a chance of a real life.
This is why you chose the latter. As you went through her classes for the day, which most of them just helped her to learn more about curses or actual knowledge from high schools, they would have something in her hand to help her focus. Now, because one of her teachers was Masamichi Yaga, you didn’t have many cases to be assigned on.
For today, you wished that were the case. While you made your way back to the dorm, one of the teachers caught up to her. “Kimiko, there’s a mission I need you to take up. You’ll need Ken and Keisuke with you,” though they were still in middle school, both boys were also jujutsu sorcerers.
“Aren’t they in middle school? Are you sure you want someone so young like them to take on curses?” Since Takeuchi needed to get ready, you knew you would have to get the tools needed.
“Yes, but that’s not all. All of our special-grade sorcerers are either on another mission or dead. It has to be you, and if you need the not-yet-high-schoolers, then you can go get them. I’ll send you more information about the mission in a bit. Let me know if you decide to bring them with you.”
“Don’t worry, teach, I won’t need them unless I absolutely need to.”
So, come to find out, you would need their help. High chance they either weren’t in school and doing gang things or were waiting for everyone to leave school. Knowing it would be a while before nightfall set in, you sat on a huge branch from a tree and waited. In the meantime, you had to worry about what the mission would be.
Pulling your phone out of her pocket, you unlocked it and glanced at the small screen. Considering it was 2005, there weren’t many students within the jujutsu school. Honestly, her upperclassmen like Gojo, Geto, and Shoko could’ve handled the mission, but for whatever reason, they already had other things to deal with.
As your eyes skimmed over the information on your screen, you thought for a moment. Either you could wait out for the boys’ little chat with their gang or you could interrupt and call it a day. The one you had to go after was a special grade, and though you were considered a grade 1 sorcerer, you couldn’t handle it by yourself. That’s why you got down from the branch and made your way through the city, trying to find where the special grade would be.
With the backpack on your shoulders having Draken and Baji’s fighting weapons, you made your way to the park. For some reason, it was almost always a breeding ground for curses or their main home. However, as you couldn’t feel anything nearby, you moved away from the park and to another building. Yes, having cursed energy was a fun thing, note the sarcasm, but it also meant you could see the below-grade-four curses that clung to the average student.
Making your way through a neighborhood, you thought there would be something here, and at first, you couldn’t feel anything at all. However, once you stopped in front of an old building covered in graffiti, you could see the dark purple aura pouring out of the building. If it was here, and curses didn’t like leaving, you could trust they wouldn’t try walking away suddenly.
Glancing toward the sky, you could see the sunset. If you weren’t mistaken, which you hardly ever were, the boys and their “gang” would’ve met tonight, and it would’ve been at a shrine. All of this walking throughout the city was a hassle, but you had to do it, considering you couldn’t drive yet.
Now, because of poor communication skills, you actually didn’t know which shrine it would be. But seeing as you passed a hill with a bunch of bikes parked at the bottom of the stairs, you had a feeling this would be their meeting point. Kids these days were weird, weren’t they? Kids a year or two younger than you were driving motorcycles and meeting for gangs.
Knowing you couldn’t go up the hill from the stairs, you went through nature. Going up the hill and being hidden in the bushes, you stayed hopping from tree to tree, careful to not make too much noise. Since you had a feeling Draken could feel you nearby, mostly because of your cursed energy, you didn’t have to announce yourself just yet. “We will now officially appoint the new 3rd Division Captain of the Tokyo Manji Gang.” You heard him shout, involuntarily lifting your eyebrows.
It sounded like he was serious about this whole gang thing after all. You couldn’t assume just yet. Right about now is when people would start muttering out of confusion, but you weren’t close enough to hear it. “3rd Divison Captain! Step up!” Now, this was something you had to watch. At first, you could hardly see anyone, not until someone with funky glasses and a dangling earring came into your sight.
At first, you couldn’t place it, but something about him felt off. Watching as he sat down in front of Mikey, which was apparently a bad thing, there was a bit of unheard conversation. “Sitting behind me is the new 3rd Division Caption, Kisaki Tetta!” There it is. Now you recognized the name, the family name, at least. Kisaki… how unsurprising.
You see, the fun thing about the Kisaki bloodline was how much of their involvement in the jujutsu world caused issues. Back in the Heian period, the Kisaki bloodline was one of the main reasons behind the fallout of jujutsu sorcerers. Since then, they’ve not been in the jujutsu world and considering you couldn’t feel any cursed energy from him meant he wasn’t a sorcerer.
By now, you could hear the crowd erupt as they didn’t appreciate someone from “Moebius,” whatever the hell that was, coming into the gang and taking over a high position. “Shut up! If anyone’s got a problem with Mikey’s decision, step up!” Draken shouted, which inherently shut the crowd up.
“We’re eventually gonna butt heads with Valhalla. To defeat them, Toman needs to grow, too! We need Kisaki if we’re going to fight Valhalla. The 3rd Division Captain is Kisaki Tetta!” The shorter blonde, Mikey apparently, turned away and began walking from the group.
“Commander!” Tetta called out as he got up from being on the stairs. “Thank you, sir!” He even bent at the 90-degree angle, showing he was serious. However, within a few seconds, some other blonde clocked him in the face. Serves him right, but you would have to find out more about the Kisaki family before you could assume the descendent was like his ancestors.
“You ain’t even in Toman, so what the hell are you doing?!” Draken shouted at him, and as a few of the other captains stepped up, a certain someone walked through the crowd. Honestly, you thought about going to get Baji first, but searching would be such a hassle, anyway. Luckily, he was here. Keisuke Baji, a second-grade jujutsu sorcerer.
Watching as he quickly punched the blond who punched Kisaki, you silently chuckled to yourself. It was probably a ruse, anyway. Someone stopped him before he could land another punch. Moving closer to the conversation, you had to know what all they were saying. “I’m goin’ to Valhalla,” Baji stated.
“Baji!” Mikey seemed to be against the idea.
“I’ll go ahead and quit.” Baji turned to leave, but that was as close a cue as any. You moved from the tree and whistled at the boys, which seemed to catch their attention.
“Baji, before you leave, I need you for something,” that made him stop and look at you. Having a feeling he knew what you wanted, he scoffed.
“Handle it yourself.” He blew off, kind of hurtful, really.
“If I could, I would. Ken, I need your help, too,” of course, considering other people don’t call him Ken, he looked pissed by you calling him his first name.
“I’m busy with something,” he blew off, though you shook your head.
“Then make yourself available.” Since you didn’t care for whatever the hell went on there, you almost didn’t see the little one, Mikey, you thought, turn to you. “Before you say anything, it has nothing to do with you.”
“Can it wait?” Now it sounded like they hid something from the others, and understandably so. Not everyone wanted to tell their childhood friends they were jujutsu sorcerers, curse-hunting students dealing with human-made monsters.
“Considering how severe this is? No, it can’t. I’ll wait for you down the stairs, don’t take too much time,” forcing yourself through the crowd, you didn’t care for the muttering of the boys who looked at you. Making your way down the stairs, you pulled out your phone and thought for a moment. You could tell the teacher that having this sort of mission would be too dangerous for you and the others.
As you heard two sets of footsteps coming down the stairs, you glanced at both boys and gave a sarcastic wave. However, you almost didn’t see the short blonde from earlier. “I’m tagging along,” he announced, and though he thought that didn’t leave much room for discussion, you looked at Draken first.
“You know he’ll be a liability if he can’t see them or can’t fight,” despite how vague your sentence was, you knew the jujutsu business wasn’t something anyone should be tangled into.
“They don’t call him the “Invincible Mikey” for nothin’.” Though it was supposed to be assuring, you got up from leaning against the railing and looked at the short blonde.
“Alright, Invincible Mikey, do you know how to fight with weapons?” Now was your turn to sound serious, and though it wasn’t intimidating him, that wasn’t your goal. “Are you okay with killing and the sight of dead bodies?” Expecting a quick answer, you lifted your eyebrows at him.
“I don’t want to kill anyone,” he only answered half of your question, which wouldn’t be acceptable in normal conditions. “And I know how to fight with weapons.”
“I didn’t say anyone, per se. I implied killing anything. Can you see what’s surrounding my hand?” You ask as you channeled curse energy into your hand. A blue aura outlined in black surrounded it, which he nodded once he pried his eyes off your hand. Moving away from Mikey, you thought for a moment. “Follow behind Baji. We have to go now.”
As Draken got onto his bike, you got onto the back. Once he revved his engine, followed by them, the four of you took off. “How bad is it?” Baji asked over the sound of the engines.
“At least two special grades and maybe more. It’s in an abandoned building, so it wouldn’t leave its home.” You answer before looking back over Draken’s shoulder. “Turn on the left up here.” It was a good thing you had the backpack safely secured on your back because the driving of a 15-year-old without the motorist driver’s license needed was a next-level fear.
As the group pulled into a neighborhood, she glanced at the roads. “Next right up here.” You tilted your head in the turning direction, which he obliged before turning onto the street. Once they got to the source of the energy, Draken turned his bike off first. Baji then Mikey did the same.
“I hate it when you call us in for missions,” Baji muttered, which you sighed and set the backpack on the ground.
“I wouldn’t have to call you in for anything, had you actually attended the classes. Here, Draken.” You handed him his tools, which included a metal bat with nails drilled in. Each of the nails held his cursed energy, so each hit with it would do more damage than without it.
“Here, Baji.” You said next as you handed him two hair ties. Ironically, he knew how to make things out of cursed energy using an object as the base. That’s why those two specific hair ties could turn into swords at any time he wanted. “Here, Mikey,” since he said earlier he knew how to fight with weapons, you gave him the polearm. “Assuming you can’t use cursed energy but can only see it, that’s infused with cursed energy. Use it to kill the curses inside.”
“And what is a curse?” Mikey’s question stopped you in your tracks, considering you would’ve thought either Draken or Baji would’ve filled him in.
“Something born from negative or cursed energy. Fourth-grade curses are easily killed by a wooden bat, third grade by a shotgun, second grade by a shotgun maybe, first grade could survive a tank’s hit. Special grade could potentially be killed by cluster bombs. Anything between each grade could kill both the grade it’s below and the grade above.” If Mikey could hold information, which you assumed he could, you hoped he would have the right mind to turn away from this.
“Don’t you think we’ll need a veil?” Hearing Baji as you grabbed your curse tools, twin daggers the size of your forearm, you thought for a moment. "Emerge from the darkness, blacker than darkness. Purify that which is impure." Watching as the veil formed above them, both boys went in first and you followed behind.
Looking behind you, Mikey seemed to have a dead look in his eyes. As much as you wanted to question it, you left it alone. Once everyone stepped inside, the door behind Mikey closed on its own. Looking around, you could tell this must’ve been an innate domain. “What type of curse is this, again?” Draken asked, considering only one type of curse could form such a large domain.
“Special grade. Come on, wherever it is, we have to get it and kill it.” Seeing as you were the only one to move forward, you went to the stairs and walked them first. There was one other thing you forgot to mention about this curse: it was a fingerbearer of Ryomen Sukuna. Now, the second and third years already collected four of them, and this was the fifth one to collect.
As you got to the next floor, you could tell this was where the source of the curse. Flipping the way you held your daggers to as if you were to stab someone, you moved around the floor. Something was off as you could feel the pure cursed energy, but you couldn’t see the source.
Suddenly, something flung you across the room, causing your back to hit a wall. As you groaned in pain, you could feel the curse charging up another blast. “Up here!” You shouted to the others, hoping they would hear you. However, the first person you saw was Mikey.
Aiming pure cursed energy at the boy instead, you quickly jumped in front of him and put your arms in an X shape with the daggers shielding your forearms. However, because of how much pure cursed energy was aimed at you, your tools broke and the building mass behind you crumbled.
Once the blast stopped, you look down at your broken weapons. Mikey however, rushed toward the curse with the polearm in hand. Reaching to the ground, you pulled out a cursed tool: Playful Cloud. Once the tool was in hand, you rushed toward the same curse.
How you and Mikey seemed to be on the same wavelength would be surprising if neither of you wasn’t busy. As he went for the head, you went for the arms. Of course, when it tried to shoot another cursed energy blast, you moved away. Mikey did not, and seeing as he knew about the cursed energy, how he didn’t stop was beyond you.
Watching as the polearm went through the fingerbearer’s chest, forcefully ejecting the finger. As the curse quickly caught fire, Mikey moved away and beside you. “Don’t worry, that’s normal. How the hell did you take down a special grade curse?”
“I just did, I don’t know how,” that didn’t help. Maybe you could bring him to the school… oh, never mind. That wouldn’t be the best idea. One look in his eyes told you he wouldn’t be suited for this type of thing.
“We need to meet up with the others, come on.” Though he didn’t know about the jujutsu world as a whole, it would’ve been better to keep it that way. Grabbing the finger from the ground, you tucked it into your pocket and went downstairs. When you came downstairs with Mikey behind you, Baji’s nearly unconscious body flew past you both. “Damn,” you muttered before rushing down with Playful Cloud in your hands.
Rushing toward the creature, you could see Draken trying to fight one of the special grades with his bat. “Switch with me,” you said to Mikey, which he tossed you the polearm in exchange for Playful Cloud. Chucking the weapon at the curse killed it instantly. This left one more curse before the veil could be lifted.
Taking the polearm out of the wall, she tossed it to Mikey in exchange for the nunchucks. Once she got them again, Draken was the one to kill the last cursed spirit. This made Baji lift the veil as he nearly collapsed from exhaustion. Rushing toward his side, you place a hand on his chest before activating your reversed curse technique. “So this sort of thing is why would leave sometimes, Kenny?”
“Unfortunately, yeah. This line of work, it’s not for the faint of heart. I didn’t want to tell you because… well- I didn’t know how you would react.” Draken couldn’t find the words for it, but you could understand what he meant.
“I think what he means to say is that this line of work will either get you killed or drive you insane. Be glad there wasn’t a mutilated body here, or anyone killed for that matter.” As you knew people who got involved with this sort of thing didn’t last long, you wanted to keep their business between them.
Once Baji was healed, you got up and helped him up. “Unfortunately, my daggers broke, so I’ll have to get the school to make me some more.”
“Baji, why did you leave Toman?” Mikey asked lowly as he handed you the polearm. Putting it back into the backpack, you looked between the three before leaning against the wall.
“Because I don’t like Toman anymore.” Was his boring excuse.
“Liar,” you muttered, catching their attention. “Mikey, I’ll be the first one to say this. Kisaki Tetta is not the type you should trust. The entire Kisaki bloodline isn’t one to be trusted.” You knew a bit about their family history, but you also knew there would be things he wouldn’t understand. “Long story short, Kisaki was the name of the person second-in-command to help Sukuna in the Heian period.”
“You’re kidding.” Draken knew a lot about the Heian period, but he didn’t know as many intricate details as you did.
“If I was, I would be laughing by now. Kisaki was the surname of the woman that gave birth to the nine cursed death wombs. Kisaki was the person that referred Toji to kill the next star plasma vessel for Tengen a few months ago. Do you see where I’m getting at?” You knew a lot of your words would be gibberish to Mikey, but you didn’t pay much attention to him.
“So keeping him around Toman is an obvious problem, but we’ll need him for the fight against Valhalla.” Mikey knew the strength that came with him, but you had a feeling something else would’ve been wrong if he stuck around any longer.
“Yeah, you would think so. That might come around and bite you in the ass.” Your phone went off in your pocket, which you looked at the new message. “I gotta get back to the school and keep the finger under the protective wrapping so it doesn’t attract any more curses. Just stay safe, both of you.”
“Do you have that little faith in the both of us?” Baji had sarcasm in his voice, but seeing as you moved to the door, you shook your head.
“Once you learn the reversed curse technique and how to heal with it, then I’ll put a little more faith in you both. I have to go,” closing the door behind you, you walked toward the sidewalk, though the sound of someone leaving the building caught your attention.
“Let me drive you back to the school. And while we drive, we need to talk.” Baji had a feeling what you needed to say would be about him. Once he started the motorcycle, you both drove off.
“Do you know how I’ve been getting visions? How each time I had a vision, it would come true?” You knew this would’ve been a weird thing to say, but you had to get it off your chest.
“You’d said it was deja vu or somethin’,” he muttered, but you continued anyway.
“Well, recently, I’ve been getting a vision of you… dying. You were in a blonde boy’s arms, someone with an undercut. And someone with a bell earring is the one that kills you. Please tell me you know who these people are.” If he didn’t, then you would have to interfere with his boyband group again and that would be a nightmare.
“Then how do I not die?”
“Learn how to use reversed curse energy, positive energy. That would mean you know how to heal yourself in any situation. You’re a semi-grade 1 sorcerer, Kei. I don’t want to hear it from our teachers that you’re dead, alright? So don’t die on me.”
“Don’t plan on it.”
