The music floated over the speakers, complimented by the sound of the waves crashing and the overlapping chatter of people at the bar. The afternoon air was warm, a promise of spring and warmth soon to come. Maia added a little swing to her hips to the beat of the music as she finished up a drink and handed it to a blonde who walked away with a quick thanks. She turned her attention to the next person leaning across the bar to get her attention. "Hey there." She glowed. "What can I get for you?"

Wekapipo and Magenta Magenta had been bickering on their way - nothing unusual for the two of them really. It seems that they might have ended up going in the wrong direction... Again.

“I really don’t think this is the right way, Magenta.” Wekapipo sighed in an attempt to mask his annoyance with the other man.

“I checked the map three times. It’s gotta be this way!” Magenta insisted. 

With the snow out, it seemed to be getting harder to see the path in front of them... until Wekapipo noticed someone else on their path. Maybe he could ask them for directions..

VERY IMPORTANT a dam in the Netherlands, the weerdsluis lock, is directly on a migratory path for spawning fish. They have a worker stationed there to open the door for the fish, but they can take a while to open it. So to keep the fish from getting preyed on by birds they installed a doorbell. Only, the fish don't have hands to ring the doorbell. If you go to their website, they have a LIVE CAMERA AND A DOORBELL that YOU RING FOR THE FISH when they're waiting, and then the dam worker opens the door for them! I can't express how obsessed I am with this. look at this shit. oh my god.

Please check on the fish doorbell once in a while :)

Of course Jotaro is going to sound as if he’s ‘displeased’ by Moira’s comment, it was so much easier to try and put up a wall between himself and his emotions. If he distanced himself from those he cared about then they’d be easier to protect, right? They wouldn’t end up becoming a target... No. Moira was able to handle herself, but, still. It would be even worse if an enemy found out about the way they made him feel.

continually awed by how american states function like separate countries

I held back on getting my gender changed in the state of Georgia because it required filing a court case and appearing before a judge to prove that I had transitioned enough to warrant calling myself male on my documents. there was a strong possibility they could deny me because I hadn't undergone any type of surgery (a requirement under Georgia law that is waived only sometimes), despite passing as male 100% of the time.

this morning I went to the Maryland vehicle administration building and they had a touch screen with buttons that said "male" and "female."

I paused and asked the lady "I can choose male, right?" and she looked at me (again, I'm just some guy with a beard) (and I think she misheard me) and she was like "Oh! Do you want to be female now?" I said no, my Georgia license (directly in front of her) says female, they wouldn't let me change it, can I be male now?

she said to just pick whichever I wanted. I got my updated license in 5 minutes.
