Podcast Jam!

The PBC’s 2024 Podcast Jam is a collaborative event running from early February to May for anyone interested in creating an audio drama, both prior creators and newcomers to podcasting. Inspired by game jam events, teams of writers, voice actors, editors and artists will collaborate to create the pilot episode of a fiction podcast from start to finish, with the last weekend of the event dedicated solely to recording and editing of the episodes.

We know that, while the barrier of entry for podcasting is low, it can still be intimidating to jump into a show alone without any experience in the field. Thus, we hope this event will encourage new folks to try their hand at creating in a relatively low-stress, community-based environment, alongside giving current podcasters a fun change of pace from their ongoing shows. Though only a pilot will be created for the jam, participants are welcome and encouraged to continue their show beyond the event if so desired (we would love to have some new shows to keep up with!)

With the ripe fruits sold at the store, they create the fruit sandwiches in-store🍓 Its so good you can only find it at the super market………

If you look at the photo of fruit sandwiches line up,

From the product name, Can you tell what I was into lol Everyone think about it its cute😂🫶🏻

Buying it here today, I ate a grilled fruit sandwich for the first time, it was suppperrrr delicious! It was slightly salty!

At Muranushi-sans's, I helped out with e new product ideas and,

I decided on a theme☀️ fufu

Choco x Banana x Cornflake x Cream That is, we came up with a sandwich that was certainly a combination of these🤦🏻‍♀️

and, we actually made it

I'm satisfied I didn't make the mistake in the 7th photo

Fruits sandwiches are difficult to make!!

Also I got to see them being made, They add in a luxurious amount of cream, it was a really happy scene for customers!!

The Women's Prize for Non-Fiction Shortlist is here!

I have always said that I'm not a massive non-fiction reader, hence the name of this blog. I am very selective about the non-fiction I read but some of it has been fantastic, so I'm open to reading more of it. This new book prize has been a brilliant gateway into non-fiction for me and my interest in some of the longlisted titles does seem to be growing day by day. However, to date, I have only read one of them (Wifedom) and am currently reading another (Doppelganger).

I have recently become more interested in reading Matrescence by Lucy Jones too, so I'll pick that up when I get a copy.

As you can tell, I'm not massively enthralled by this shortlist but I'm looking forward to seeing the winner being picked on 13th June. What do you think of the shortlist? Have you read any? Do you want to read any? Let me know!

It is easier to make the arrangements (now) with the host school while you are still attending the school, rather than after you return to your home school. A WES Canada evaluation is not required if your home school, on its own transcript, will grant credit for the exchange/study abroad. Typically, the home school does not list on its transcript, the performance grade from the host school.  

Applicants whose WES Canada evaluations are currently in-progress,  should also arrange for an updated official transcript to be sent to OLSAS directly, while they await the WES evaluation. .

What to Know About TPS Renewal for Venezuela

If your country has been designated for Temporary Protected Status, we may be able to put together the strongest TPS case on your behalf. Recently, the Department of Homeland Security extended and redesignated the country of Venezuela for TPS. Over the years, we’ve helped those eligible to be able to successfully apply for TPS as well as TPS renewal. If you are from a TPS-designated country and want to know more about your options, we encourage you to reach out to us for a free case evaluation.

Re-Designation and Re-Registration On September 29th, the USCIS published a DHS preview of a Federal Register notice covering extension of Venezuela’s 2021 TPS designation in addition to a redesignation of Venezuela for TPS. The reasons for this, according to the USCIS, are “extraordinary and temporary conditions in Venezuela that prevent individuals from safely returning”.

This designation lasts for 18 months, starting on March 11th, 2024 and ending on September 10th, 2025. This means that existing beneficiaries can retain their TPS through September 10th, 2025 provided that they continue to meet requirements for eligibility.

When to Submit In terms of re-registration, that’s limited to beneficiaries of TPS under Venezuela 2021. Should they re-register (as well as continue to meet the eligibility requirements), roughly 243,000 people can retain TPS through that September 10th, 2025 date.

Those who are interested in re-registration have to re-register in the time between January 10th, 2024 and March 10th, 2024. That way, they can keep both their TPS as well as their work authorization.

If you’re eligible and don’t already have TPS, then you can submit the proper documentation between October 3rd, 2023, and April 2, 2025, the initial registration period.

Throughout, the USCIS will keep processing applications that were filed and pending under Venezuela 2021.

Of course, if you have any questions about the proper documentation, do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Who’s Eligible and Who Isn’t People who have continuously resided in America on or before the date of July 31st, 2023 and have been continuously, physically present here on or before October 3rd, 2023. It’s estimated that, on account of Venezuela’s redesignation, roughly 472,000 more people will be able to file for their initial TPS application.

That’s not to say that everyone is eligible, of course. An example of a group that isn’t eligible: is Venezuelan nationals who came to the United States after July 31st, 2023.

Until the trial proceeds next September 2024, Mashinsky will remain free on $40 million bail, however, will continue to face travel and financial restrictions. In an October 3rd hearing held in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Judge John Koeltl set the criminal trial date for former Celsius Network CEO Alex Mashinsky for September 17, 2024. The legal proceedings will also involve three pretrial conferences scheduled for March, July, and September. Throughout this period, Mashinsky, who is facing allegations of misleading Celsius investors and defrauding users, will remain free on a $40 million bail, albeit with significant travel and financial transaction restrictions. Additionally, in a September ruling, the court froze several of Mashinsky’s assets, including bank accounts and property. Celsius Network filed for bankruptcy last year and currently holds substantial debts amounting to billions owed to its investors. In July, allegations were raised by prosecutors against both Alex Mashinsky and Celsius, suggesting they had artificially boosted the value of the company’s native token by utilizing customer funds. Furthermore, they faced accusations of repetitive deceit towards their client base. In a related development, Roni Cohen-Pavon, Celsius’s Chief Revenue Officer, confronted criminal charges and reportedly entered a guilty plea just last month. Last month in September, Roni Cohen-Pavon, Celsius’ former chief revenue officer, pleaded guilty to four criminal charges. Until the December sentencing hearing, Cohen-Pavon will be free on bail. He will also be available to testify in the Mashinsky trial next year. Former Celsius CEO Mashinsky Faces Charges from the SEC and the CFTC The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit against the cryptocurrency lending platform and its former CEO, alleging deceptive and unregistered sales of “crypto-asset securities.” Furthermore, the SEC accused both parties of misleading investors regarding Celsius’s financial status and manipulating the price of CEL, the company’s flagship token. In parallel, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) also lodged fraud charges against Alex Mashinsky and the company. In response to these allegations, certain assets belonging to Mashinsky, including his Texas residence and holdings at prominent institutions such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and SoFi Bank, were subject to freezing orders. Amidst the legal disputes, there is a glimmer of hope for Celsius’ creditors. They have approved a restructuring plan that ensures they will be compensated with major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. I’m repeating what I just said in the tags of that ask (so I can find it easier), so take this with a grain of salt, but I've convinced myself that Taylor is playing Sydney Feb 23rd - 25th and Melbourne March 1st - 3rd. 

My basis behind this?

1. The newest rumours say late February to early March and that she will only be going to Sydney and Melbourne, so that implies one date has the be the last weekend of February and the other the first week of March. February being the timeframe has been the subject of rumours for months now with a number of supposed insiders from the MCG and Accor (+ businesses near by who would have to prepare for more traffic) using that timeframe so it makes sense.

2. It also makes sense in regards to Perth and Brisbane. Assumingly we never heard anything about Perth because there was never a Perth show to hear about. I would assume, given the rumours of other countries pulling out due to the cost of moving the stage being too expensive, that’s what’s happened here. I also think this was a big consideration in why Taylor opted to play the MCG over the Marvel Stadium where she usually plays in Melbourne because the MCG has more capacity. In terms of Brisbane, using this timeline, it’s clear to see why the show has fallen through if the rumours are correct.

February 2023: The Queensland government announces that the Gabba, where Taylor usually plays, is being renovated for the 2032 Olympics. Though the renovations themselves will likely start later, the preparation to that may make it unusable. Given it sounds like things fell apart pretty recently in terms of Brisbane, I imagine that both sides were trying to either make an exception or push off the preparation of the renovations until later but for whatever reason it couldn’t be done. This leads the main other stadium that can be considered to be the Suncorp Stadium. February 17th 2024: P!nk is playing at the Suncorp Stadium. The next two weekends (if I’m right): Taylor is playing Sydney and Melbourne who likely confirmed first because there’s no practical concerns like renovations and whatever. March 10th 2024: The Oscars are on. Given Taylor is currently working on her own movie, I would not be surprised to see her attend March 19th 2024: P!nk is playing the Suncorp Stadium again.

Having Brisbane’s date be any earlier or later than this would likely be more expensive, especially if she was coming just to do one city given a lot of people think Perth isn’t booked. And to be honest, even if she did skip the Oscars, I would imagine that moving the stage from Sydney to Melbourne then back across the country to Brisbane would be more expensive than moving its way down the country from Brisbane to Sydney to Melbourne. Given that rumours are saying that other places are being cut due to costs (potentially including Perth), I imagine it was a big enough consideration here.

3. So why Sydney then Melbourne and not vice versa? Simply put, P!nk is playing in Melbourne on the weekend of February 23rd and while it is at the Marvel Stadium, why have that competition if you don’t have to? It’s a situation where both artists can have their cake and eat it too.

Again, this is an educated guess at best and speculation at worst so we’ll see how it goes, but yeah, if you asked me to put money on it right now, this would be my guess based off of the information we have.

“Later this year [2024]”: Jeff Grubb’s latest on the anticipated release window for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is that last he heard, it’s planned to be released later this year. This isn’t a guarantee and it could still slip, but he reported that internally this is when BioWare expect to release the game and that they are feeling pretty confident about this. Given that DA:D is officially slated to have its full reveal in Summer 2024, that would likely  place “later this year” in the second half of 2024, after summer (so Fall/Holiday). further, EA currently plans to release DA:D at some point in FY25, which runs from April 1st 2024 until 31st March 2025 (see “March 2025″ entry below).

March 2025: the latest possible time that we can currently expect DA:D to come out, as the Earnings Slides in EA’s Q4 and FY 2024 earnings conference call stated that EA has one unannounced owned IP title planned to release in FY25 (financial year 2025). Jeff Grubb confirmed then this title is DA:D. FY is April 1st 2024 until 31st March 2025.
