hello, i'm jules! i write sfw agere content! send in a request and i shall deliver!
there's a criminally low amount of age regression content for a lot of the media i enjoy, so i'm taking it upon myself to change that by writing content for some obscure characters with little to no demand!

The Genpei War and Germa
"Sequel" to my previous Genpei War parallel analysis post.
This one kind of goes into red string pinboard conspiracy, and not as straightforward as the Venus one. Final warning, this is kind of fanciful.
This is also in relation to my previous theory post about Germa possibly being connected to the ancient kingdom.
In mainstream Japanese storytelling, for centuries the Taira/Heike is almost always depicted as evil. Anything from corruption, destroying the nation by their evil deeds, even connections to evil spirits and all that. Naturally it's propagated by the Minamoto/Genji side.
In One Piece, I don't think there's that many entities who gets this "evil evil evil forever" reputation attached to them besides Germa. And based on my previous post, if the Genji side is World Government... there is some similarity there.
Besides, though they were defeated, the Taira weren't destroyed. There were still survivors who remained as smaller clans.
Among the so called descendants of the Taira was Oda Nobunaga, who I saw as the primary samurai parallel to Germa. And this could even branch off to even further conspiracies.
Survivors from the Ancient Kingdom founded or is generally part of Germa royalty.
Germa just wants to continue the "legacy" of the Ancient Kingdom, even if they're not actually personally tied to that kingdom by ancestry.
I'm not going to go that far yet, though. For now I just think Germa is a separate entity, but they know something about the void century and/or the ancient kingdom. Still, there is a connection there.
Also, I want to mention the exoskeleton.
I don't know if this is something I've mentioned before, but one of the conspiracies I had is that maybe the exoskeleton modifications were made based on or using the sea prism stones.
It might even explain why Sanji could block Kizaru's laser beam, since it was produced through Devil Fruit and not machine, and perhaps the exoskeleton can counteract that.
I don't believe we have seen any other example of what specifically happens if the Vinsmoke siblings faces fruit abilities. If it's embedded in the skin, then it's not 100% pure sea stone, so Big Mum and her children being able to touch the Vinsmoke siblings doesn't really mean much. It's like the sea stone shackles in Wano that only takes away special abilities, but doesn't really injure the person.
Well, as it were, I also had theorised that maybe the "sea prism stones" are actually the "exoskeleton" of some kind of ancient animal. My main theory is tortoise and lobster (in Japanese, tortoise shell is included in the broad category of "exoskeleton" too) due to the linguistic analysis (see above link). Since as of now it could be anything, though, crabs are among the list of possibilities.
So, in Japanese mythology, there is a certain water creature called "kappa" that is most commonly depicted as a reptilian creature with a tortoise shell.
Tumblr media
Some legends said that kappa was the reincarnation of the Taira/Heike soldiers who drowned in the sea, when they were defeated in the sea battle in Dan no Ura.
Judge had alluded to the souls of the Germa ancestors having no land to rest. They may have originally died on land, if the Germa empire had land before, but if that land is gone they're then technically "lost at sea" now.
There is also a certain breed of crab whose shells are wrinkled in such a way that it kind of looks like a human face. Heikegani, it's called in Japan, because legend says they're also the incarnation of the ghosts of the Heike soldiers who died at sea.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aside from the exoskeleton parallel, there's also that "ghosts of people who died at sea".
Even suppose I'm wrong, and the exoskeleton has nothing to do with sea stones, Germa still chose to call it "exoskeleton" and not something more straightforward like "iron skin". It still felt like a term that is connected to a still-hidden lore, and in this case, makes me think of the Taira clan.
Speaking of the souls of the dead. If you've ever heard that in Japanese mythology butterflies represent the soul of the dead, it was said to specifically refer to the swallowtail butterfly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The same butterfly is the clan crest of the Taira, worn as a clothing motif by Oda Nobunaga, and in One Piece, it's the design inspiration of Reiju's raid suit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can see the swallowtail's iconic "tails" at the bottom of Reiju's wings there, and you can see how the zero motifs on the upper part of the wings somewhat resembles the circular patterning on the Japanese crest and design versioon of the butterfly. A real swallowtail butterfly does not have "spots" like that.
So again, another possible parallel.
But what is all this convoluted parallels supposed to mean? By the Genpei parallel, the "shogunate" is World Government.
The (supposed) lineage of the Taira nearly succeeded in toppling the shogunate system altogether, and wouldn't you know, it was 300 more years before the shogunate finally came down and the Emperor becomes the supreme ruler of the land again.
All this very convoluted parallel is to say, once again, the Germa empire of 300 years prior knew something very important that is needed for the plot. In which case, they're coming back, and pretty much because of that I think there's no need to worry about Sanji "turning evil".
His issue with the Vinsmokes is not over yet, even if he acts like it's all fine. I feel like he's going to have to confront them truly and properly one more time, and it would go against the theme of the story if it has a bad outcome. Why did we even have all the drama in Whole Cake if it's going to just go poof into nothing?
No matter how it plays out, I just think it will be fine. There'll be drama, angst, sadness, tension, but it will be fine.

Hello hello! 🙌 Some time ago on blue bird app I saw someone talking about a royal guard Genji x a (what if) royal guard captain Hanzo and would like to give a penny for your thoughts on it? :3c I think the idea is fun and has lots of potential to develop but also potential to create plot holes if not careful 🏃
Thank you and have a nice day!
HEY THERE <3
sooooo i'm not sure if you wanted this to be like a list of headcanons but i got a little excited and wrote a little drabble lmao
I LOVE THIS IDEA!!! like i didn't enjoy questwatch as much as i thought i would tbh but including hanzo and shimadacest in the story just made it so interesting LOL
i think genji would give hanzo so much work just because he knows hanzo wouldn't punish him, it would be hilarious. and the shit genji and tracer would get up to, to queen emily and hanzo's dismay? blizz should've gone with that angle XDDD
anyway, little drabble coming up under the read more, and anon? thank you!!! hope you enjoy <3~
-
Hanzo is but a child when they meet
The King has a nasty habit of taking in unruly children whose parents can’t or won’t care for, and training them to be knights. Genji comes in a scoop of scrawny 8-year-olds about three years after Hanzo himself is handed over by his father, except that Genji’s parents don’t try to get rid of him like Hanzo’s dad did; no, Genji's father was a knight himself and died in the long running war, and his mother, or so the gossip goes, died of heartache upon hearing the news.
At this point Hanzo has made himself a bit of a top dog among the other kids. He’s only 12, but there’s already so many ugly feelings inside him that he pushes and pushes on the training grounds, until when he goes to bed at night he just blanks out. Wakes up the next day and does it all over again. The kids fear him; the knights who train them, love him.
So when Genji arrives full of toothy smiles and snarky responses, they clash. He gets under Hanzo’s skin fast and he enjoys doing it – revels in the looks of wonder the other kids save for him, because he’s the only one who stands up to Hanzo.
It takes less than a week for Hanzo to lash out at him during training. Adults have to step in and push them apart before he beats the younger boy to a pulp. He gets weeks of cleaning duties for punishment and hates Genji even more.
But time does its thing; they learn to get along if only to avoid problems. Hanzo finds that Genji is fun to be around and as they grow older, when he realizes that boys are more than just stinky and prone to fight, he sees beauty in Genji’s smile and a similar desire in the hands that search for him after nightfall.
Genji is his first kiss when he’s 17 and shaking with cold and anxiety.
But they’re not alone, that night. There’s a knight doing safety rounds and he sees them hidden in the forest. It’s nothing more than kissing, but he takes them in and punishment comes hard enough to drive them apart. Hanzo is made knight early and sent to war on the far eastern front; Genji stays to finish his training.
The war is long, merciless, horrifying. Hanzo learns that while boys might enjoy a little spar, men are more destructive than any monster he’s ever encountered. He’s forced to forget Genji because he knows he might never see him again; just hopes they can end this carnage before the younger man is sent to fight alongside him and either has to watch the other die.
Years later, when he returns victorious in spite of everything, one of the few survivors, the King is dead to old age and Queen Emily, a much more benevolent creature than her father, is ruling. Her hand is kind and her smile is easy, and she crowns Hanzo Royal Guard Captain for his merits in the war.
He doesn’t think he deserves it, but when he stands before the crowd and sees the proud joy in Genji’s eyes, he forgets all the horrors and all the time passed fades away, and they’re kids hiding in the woods to experiment love for the first time all over again.
They run off that night to that same place, and Genji tells him they were going to make me Captain if the war never ended when it did and Hanzo says he’s sorry, that he deserves it more than Hanzo does, and Genji laughs and tells him thank you, I didn’t want it, you were born for this.
Hanzo cries when they make love for the first time because he’d forgotten, for years and years, what good feelings were like.
It doesn’t take long for the word to spread out, that the Captain takes one of his knights to bed every night, that this was the whole reason they got separated in their youth. Queen Emily calls them to a private meeting one cold afternoon and Hanzo wants so bad to hold Genji’s hand, he’s terrified that they’ll never make it out of here alive, but they kneel before her with pride and resilience, and she sighs.
Before he died my father told me a story about the two of you, she says gravely. About why he arranged to send you away. It wasn’t because of your love… You should know my father, albeit harsh and strict, had no problem with men like you, or… Women like me.
The Queen seems to blush, bowing her head gently to glance at her own personal guard, a lively brunette who’s far too quick on her feet for anyone’s good, Hanzo has learned since his return.
And the soft tone of this conversation finally clicks. He chances a quick look in Genji’s direction and finds a knowing smirk.
However, she resumes a minute later, the truth is that… Well… Though you weren’t raised together, my father told me you two are actually related. It was a matter of forbidden love between your darling mother, Captain, and your heroic father, Knight Genji. Now, we have no way of knowing how much of this is true, but… You understand his reticence to allow a romantic relationship to bloom between you. Here I am no one to stop love when it’s so clearly written before my eyes. But I thought you deserved to know.
Her words fall flat at Hanzo’s feet; they might be half-brothers, he thinks, but as the Queen herself said, they weren’t raised as such. He feels no fraternal affection towards the man beside him. And life and war have thrown so many horrors towards him that he wants to grab the good and the love while he has them.
Genji as well doesn’t seem at all unnerved by the news. Instead, later that night when they retire to Hanzo’s sleeping quarters, he claims love to his big brother and laughs when Hanzo blushes, and things seem to be just fine.
So in the years that follow, the kingdom of Overland becomes a place where people like Hanzo, Genji, Queen Emily and Tracer, the knight, go to find peace and acceptance. They don’t start new wars and the knights fight to protect the Queen and the goodness that she sows. Hanzo still assists training squires and Genji becomes his right arm on the field.
And together, they’re unstoppable.

Super Temporary Links to the pokeirl plural server post (ooc post) (ic post)
low(-mid?)-stakes RP with an outsider's view of rotomblr. the Legion's world is vaguely based on SMT Devil Survivor 2 mechanically, and historically there was a japanese empire instead of a roman empire so england has more japanese influences, notably using yen (and macca when demons are involved)
the Legion is an ever-shifting group of people moving in and out of one apartment due to capitalism being a heck. Known Residents of the Legion: Human: Blackthorn Legion - she/her, ace/aro - the primary poster, accountholder, the one actually renting the apartment the Legion live in. has a bad habit of revealing that she knows people's history if they're in a game she played. snarky but has a soft spot. slightly a wanted hacker but don't worry about that. yes her surname is Legion she changed it to heck with genji overwatch. her sibling/good twin is Literally madeline celeste (no her last name is not celeste) Simon - he/him, masc-leaning bi - the butt monkey castlevania stan. came up with the legion name. Blackthorn's most tolerable apartmentmate. often the voice of reason except when it comes to wall chicken. has a boring horsesona and is salty about it. TWC - any pronouns - joined as The Wiggles Cultist (<(:0)OOoo>) but changes what the initials stand for pretty often. or basically every post at this point. They Speak In All Capitalised Words Legion Resident - any other human resident.
Non-Human: Aeros - pronouns unknown - air elemental who is generally either trapped in a vacuum cleaner or chasing people (aka simon) around. Aeros' location is unknown after being sent to pokemart manglement and released somewhere Bonk - they/he - a Beldum who true to their name can and will headbonk people as a main form of communication. trained service mon :) Nickit - he/him - a Nickit slightly longer than average, who is white with black accents and green markings on their face. (art source) naive and nods off a lot, can talk to humans, name currently unknown. has gmax meowth/furret/(hisuian?) zorua ancestry (source | longcat trace) Dr. Slushy - he/him - a Jack Frost. he's in the pokeworld now but he may still send messages through here for convenience Ghost - a ghost who's basically hanging out here possessing random people. name and pronouns vary based on host body
Associates: free to ask about, may not appear much Angy - weird stripey floating dude who gave Blackthorn the base for the MVSP. knows Something about world administration. Pixie of Amala - the Uberpixie who helped Demi-fiend (aka Sir Not Currently Appearing In This Universe He's Just Vibing)
any posts without a --blackthorn or whoever don't have who posted them defined; either it doesn't matter or i forgor. assume blackthorn but may get retconned any brackets like (simon: something) are a cut-in from someone else. ooc is marked with // or ooc: or both
The MVRS.py: stands for 'MultiVersal Reverse Summoning', pronounced 'movers'. Blackthorn's method of accessing rotumblr, which she's hacked to Try and send items through. it isn't the most reliable - anything she sends with it may get... altered at receiver's will. it's a py file because python my beloved

Blackthorn Legion - 27 - she/her (gender sucks. i just use what i'm used to) - autism/adhd/fibromyalgia - ace/aro - picrews
i live in an apartment with like 20-30 other people. any stupid comments it's probably them. or the demon internet cafe i've basically set up at this point my place is basically just. for people to come get back on their feet. why is capitalism making /me/ the best option.
if you're reading this i probably freaked you out by knowing something i 'shouldn't'. see, my universe turned a bunch of events from other worlds into games and other media, so i know more history of your world than i do mine. so that's fun
yes my surname is legally* legion. yes i changed it to heck with someone *in the sense that it's what the authorities/most wanted list etc. know me by. birth identity doesn't exist any more and civilian identity is under the radar
---
Simon. bi (masc-leaning) he/him. too old to have a boring horsesona are you kidding me--- picrews i guess.
okay it's basically out at this point - hecker - YES i used to have a crush on blackthorn that is Not why i am here we are still friends and honestly i prefer guys these days anyway.
i somehow get the feeling that angy is trolling me. doesn't he have anything better to do?

It's been a while since I've posted any sort of character analysis, and I'm bored, so... here we are! I was mildly inspired by this post, but I've had the following on my mind especially since this video came up in my YouTube recommendations a while back.
Can we talk about how STUPID the chronal accelerator is? I hope that the Overwatch Declassified book sheds some more light on it, but I don't think the narrative teams across the franchise's lifespan ever really put much thought into it.
In Reflections, Lena wears her chronal accelerator out by zipping all over King's Row.
Tumblr media
Notice how there's still a slight blue glow. So, does it have enough power to keep Lena anchored in time but not enough to let her control her "own personal timeline"? I honestly don't mind that as an aspect/caveat to the chronal accelerator. I promise I'll get back to this point.
In Alive, Lena uses her chronal accelerator to recall JUST before the bullet that killed Mondatta hit her.
Tumblr media
One could argue that she anticipated Widowmaker's shot and got lucky. Still, this scene is set in slow motion. Is it purely to make it more dramatic, or does Lena perceive everything around her to be slower as she controls her own personal timeline? I think the latter would make her more interesting as a character, because it would mean that she had more than a split second to decide to dodge the bullet, only adding to her survivor's guilt.
Okay, deep breaths. We're treading into what I would argue are the most annoying portrayals of the chronal accelerator.
I'll get the first bit out of the way: London Calling has a lot wrong with it as a story. I've given my complaints on this blog before, but I'll give a recap. No offense to Mariko Tamaki, but her experience of writing for Marvel and DC comics is apparent. They tried to lean into the superhero aspect of "Tracer", and it misconstrues Lena as a character here and there.
As for the chronal accelerator, it starts electrocuting Lena after Widowmaker slams her into a wall at the end of Alive. After Lady's funeral, Lizzy follows Lena home and sees her being electrocuted half-to-death on the sidewalk, and they use parts sent by the one and only S. Paceape to repair it. Lena doesn't hear Winston's warning that the fix is temporary, and she blinks all the way to Iggy with no hiccups. Then, as she snatches Iggy from Kace, she says "Just need the chronal accelerator to hang in there for... got ya!" and it suddenly starts electrocuting her again. Obvious inconsistency there, as Lena shouldn't have known the chronal accelerator was about to electrocute her when it was most convenient for the plot, but why are THESE parts from Winston temporary? She gets them right after Mondatta's assassination, and she doesn't get electrocuted before then. She speaks about Winston as if they're not in regular contact, and Winston simply mails her parts on occasion.
Tumblr media
Why did Babs Tarr draw her like this? Why is it that these parts are suddenly temporary? Winston would know that Lena uses her chronal accelerator REGULARLY. She prefers to use it over taking the tube, for example. All of a sudden, his parts can't handle a short walk to the Underworld? The writing did BOTH of them dirty in this comic. I can't lie.
Now, onto the thing that frustrates me the most: the Doomfist Origin Story. Remember my point about it being interesting concept for Lena to be able to slow down her perception of time? I feel like, with this origin story, they focused so much on portraying Akande as the cold and calculated warrior that he is that they made Tracer look ESPECIALLY inept.
Tumblr media
It would've made more sense for Akande to study the fighting patterns of Genji. He very clearly dislikes Asa Yamagami in that one OW2 interaction he has with Genji. Surely, a light bulb would've gone off like "Ah, this cybernetic ninja fights quite like a student of Asa Yamagami. I might be able to predict his next move."
Time to bring this essay full circle! Remember my point about Reflections kind of implying an interesting concept of the chronal accelerator having just enough power to keep Lena anchored but not enough for her to control her own timeline?
Rewatch the Doomfist Origin Story. Seriously, look at how much Lena is blinking here. I think it would've been more fitting for Lena's character if her overconfidence led to her burning her chronal accelerator out and leaving her defenseless, frozen like a deer in headlights. It would also fit Akande's character, as he would know that Lena would eventually tire herself out (maybe not to the extent of her life support device giving up on her, but my point stills stands). Akande would still be able to destroy Lena's chronal accelerator, presuming that it would take her out of the fight for good, and the plot would move on the same way.
Now, I don't know how to end this, so I'm just going to say that Lena "Tracer" Oxton is my original character. I'm taking her from Blizzard's grasp. No one understands her like I do. 😔

Wait wait wait - Umineko AU sounds very cool… how would it work?? Who’s who?
By AU I mostly mean like all the AUs running through Harrow's head at the end of Harrow the Ninth, so it works about as well as a fever dreams brought on by brain surgery undoing itself, but:
Battler: Gideon (duh) Shannon and Kanon: Harrow, with the servant name Harron George and Jessica: Ianthe. Though unlike George she isn't going to propose secretly, she's doing it in front of everyone because she's a messy bitch who loves the drama. Beatrice: Alecto Kinzo: John Natsuhi: Pelleamena (which I guess makes Priamhark Krauss by default?)
The Cousins/Uncles/Aunts: All the Canaan House postulants, instead of a "Family Meeting" it's a Nine Houses Meeting.
G1deon, Mercymorn and Augustine would play similar roles Genji, Kumasawa and Nanjo, in the sense of being John's "inner circle" more than anything. Crux and Aiglamene are there too (or, Crux might be off sick and fuming about not being there). Pyrrha might be alive, and off the island.
So: Harrow is an orphan, the miraculous survivor of a deadly gas leak at Fukuin House (as far as she knows). Because she was the only child at the orphanage, she was brought into The Ninth House as a servant at a very young age, where she showed a startling necromantic aptitude. At some point a young Ianthe and Coronabeth are orphaned and adopted or fostered to the "childless" Ninth House. Coronabeth runs off to join BoE, or is kidnapped by them in an attack that kills Naberius, I'm not sure. Gideon is G1deon and Pyrrha's kid (as far as she knows) and after she ran off as a teenager to join the cohort (without bringing Harrow with her, as they'd agreed) Harrow kind of, lost her necromancy. It came back a few years ago, when the Body started appearing to her, but she's kept quiet about it.
I do have a vague outline of an actual full "game" with serial murders, where a whole bunch of stuff with Jod's revenant and embryo swapping and secret conspiracies comes out, but more likely it would just end up a Harrow the Ninth style AU in which, after Harrow tips over the wheelbarrow and Gideon helps her meetcute style, she sees Alecto the Golden Witch standing atop the rose arch asking "Is this how it happens?"

Once overwatch is public again (in canon at least) I wonder how the citizens are going to handle bastion being with overwatch. As well as the null sector them selves. I get the feeling Echo, orisa, zen, and bastion might be in danger of being pulled to other side. But back to bastion, I can only imagine the public view of them on Overwatch's roster. ESPECIALLY the survivors of the first crisis. Looking at Bastian through his interactions and comic lore. It feels like its gonna be like a found family situation with overwatch. Souljrn(can't spell), tracer, rein, pharah,Torb( bastion grew on him like a rash) mercy, genji, mei, Winston, and Cole have seen the damage they can do and the lives they lose. Y'all remember that trailer with rein charging bastion in Torbs workshop? I wouldn't be surprised if that's how ALL of them (more or less) react to bastion. And it'll take them a while to warm up to him. Their PR is gonna be off the charts with showing the world he's a new bot.

Biolight, Kitsune, and the Sun(thoughts on the OW2 support heroes)
Okay. Rewatching the origin stories and cinematics of the OW2 exclusive heroes after playing them in game gave me a few thoughts.
Tumblr media
Firstly, there's Niran aka Lifeweaver.
TL;DR: Niran was an incredibly smart rich kid with seemingly endless resources, a proclivity for disobedience, and distaste for perfection. Somehow, he basically made himself a god - being able to turn hardlight into real living matter - and is wanted by evil corporations so they can steal it. He also was Symmetra's roommate.
Pretty boy, super smart, super rich, loving parents, god powers.
Tumblr media
Second, there's Kiriko.
TL;DR: Grew up with Hanzo and Genji (She should be in her late 20s-early 30s, if that's the case, but she's not) by her mother and grandmother, both of which having opposing views. Modernity vs Tradition. Instead of settling for one or the other, she blends the two in order to protect the people of Kanezaka from the Hashimoto mafia with her band of freedom fighters called the Yokai. She also has a fox spirit that makes her strong and keeps her young/healthy.
Pretty girl, natural leader, another ninja, loving parents, god powers.
Tumblr media
TL;DR: Illari was groomed to be the greatest of the Inti Warriors, powerful fighters who used the energy from the sun to bolster themselves. She was slated to join the Inti after receiving her solar threading, but a blast of power during the ceremony destroyed the chamber and everyone in it - everyone but her. Living with the guilt, she refuses anyone's sympathy and continues striving to earn forgiveness for a slight she doesn't truly know was her fault.
Trained warrior but also prodigy, riddled with survivors guilt, loving community, god powers.
There is only one of these 3 I have no complaints about. Can you guess who?
Now, we get to the fun part, aka the part where I complain. Take everything I say with a grain of salt; this is my personal opinion that I am entitled to.
Yes, there is nuance and hidden details about every hero in Overwatch. As someone who has been following the games lore since way before the content drought, I am well aware of the hidden details. But when it comes to some of the new OW2 heroes, particularly the supports, does it feel like the new heroes have been relegated to "Mary Sue" status to anyone else?
With the exception of Illari, who is probably the best written OW2 support (Note: I specify OW2 support because the OW1 supports have good lore), the other two supports feel like they were made to be perfect and plastic.
Kiriko "I have the power of god and anime on my side" Kamori and Niran "actually a god" PruksaManee have this way about them that feels... too smooth. Niran was naturally ridiculously smart and somehow figured out how to become a god, I guess? How else do you explain crafting organic life from... nothing, basically? In fact, he is probably the most egregious example of what I'm referring to.
As for Kiriko, she is shoehorned into the story of Hanzo and Genji, made out to be a troublemaking child turned responsible adult... like Genji, just without the attempted murder, and has access to a spirit. The spirit thing is connected to an even bigger issue with the lore regarding the Shimada's dragons. No one explained what they are, and the fact they resemble hardlight doesn't feel like a coincidence. Is it supposed to be magic or not? At least in the case of Zenyatta and Rammatra's Iris, that could be explained by means of code. The spirits, not so much. Anyways...
A common argument I get in favour of their characters is "you just want them to be gritty and edgy." They don't need grit to be good. Yes, almost every hero in Overwatch has some form of grit, but it's not totally necessary to make a good character. Take Brig for example.
Tumblr media
This is an example of a well written character with virtually no grit in her backstory. She's not a prodigy; she had to work hard for her skills. She has no god powers - no matter how busted she can be in game - and she didn't have to go through horrible traumas to get where she is. Yes, her father and godfather are both in the game and important to the lore, but that's not what makes her relevant and interesting. She feels distinct from them, and yet connects with them easily.
Her attitude isn't abrasive or annoying, her voicelines are consistent and fun ("Mace to the face!"), and she embodies her character type comfortably without being stereotypical. Brig feels her age, not overcompensating or a meme generator. And even beyond the squire archetype, she has shown a sensitive side in regards to art and poetry in the same way a tomboy would. While she is pretty (OW team make an ugly hero challenge: impossible), she isn't plastic like Lifeweaver and she doesn't look like a child the way Kiriko does. Brig is built like a young woman and probably one of the most realistic bodies in the game.
Brig is relatable.
Brig feels like me.
She is frankly a very well written character, both in and out of game, all while maintaining the futuristic fantasy of the OW2 world. You can make more characters like her without making them suffer some trauma or commit war crimes, Blizzard.

1. When was the rifle used in your theory?
2. Why would that put it currently under the culprit’s control?
1: i'm pretty certain the rifle was used to posthumously mutilate the six corpses in the storehouse
2: the rifle was kept inside kinzo's study. kinzo has most likely been dead since at least a few days before the family conference, meaning that whoever had a key to the study had full control of everything within the study (this would be genji). the rifle could at any point have either been stolen or removed of ammunition by the culprit to neutralize it as an option to the survivors but keeping it around is indicative of a psychological pitfall where giving them a physical material weapon means that the threat itself must also be a material physical thing. also by putting it in natsuhi's control early on helps in taking the suspicion off any servants since in a murder situation that would be the first thing you turn to, so i think the rifle is exactly where the culprit wants it to be

Overwatch Story Predictions!!
Since Story missions are coming next season I thought it would be a good idea to discuss what my key predictions are!!
First one is a common one and that is either Solider or Cassidy are going to kill Reaper. If Solider is the one to kill Reaper it's going to be both of them dying but if Cassidy kills him I see it being a moment when Reaper wants to die, like he doesn't fight back or anything. Either way we are all going to cry.
Someone in the Overwatch team is going to start going down the same path Reyes did, idk who, my prediction is Pharah since they have a similar moral of "change the system/change the law". Which honestly scares me cause Cassidy is on Talon's hit list and we all know what happen with Gerard in Retribution.
Reinhardt's dying, not only because it makes sense but a lot of the characters have had a handing down of the torch moment, Cassidy and Ana being an example, so if Rein dies I defiantly see this being that moment for Brigitte and Rein.
Widowmaker redemption. I don't need to explain this.
Moira is going to be killed by Angela, Widow, Reaper, Sigma or Pharah, depending on the person I will either enjoy her death or be very frightened about the aftermath.
Sombra getting hurt by Talon and Sigma loosing his shit because of it. This ties into a possible Moira death.
Cassidy and Solider having a talk on what they're going to do about Reyes, this could also possibly a moment where Cassidy helps Morrison move on from the past.
Cassidy and Tracer being the main focus of dealing with Talon and the Old Soldiers trio and Cassidy helping Tracer through her survivors guilt.
Angela is going to be tempted to do some morally questionable stuff.
Kiriko isn't going to forgive Hanzo, at least not quickly.
Roadhog dies, idk why I think this will happen, he's just giving me vibes.
Also I saw someone else say this but I do believe Junkrat is going to join Overwatch while Roadhog joins Talon, or the other way around, I honestly just don't think they're going to stay on the same side.
Lifeweaver join Overwatch fairly quickly after meeting everyone.
It's going to be revealed that Viskar were the ones transporting Echo.
All the Omnics and possibly Genji are going to be hacked/controlled at some point and we'll have to fight them.
Something with The Conspiracy happens.
B.O.B sacrifices himself to save Ashe, causing Ashe to join forces with Overwatch to get him back.
Sojourn and Cassidy are going to be the default leaders of this new Overwatch. Through them we are also going to find out more on what happened between Jack and Gabe.

genji shimada, who can flirt well enough to turn the most stoic man to a puddle of stammering embarrassment, weak at the knees.
genji shimada, who holds himself tall and doesn't back down, no matter how much he wishes he could lie down and stop having to fight for a chance to be himself and alive.
genji shimada, who has used his past experience as a playboy to bring the most stubborn, hard-to-catch HV targets to their knees or better yet, trick them right into a trap.
genji shimada, who utilizes his old talents for the good of others.
...genji shimada, who sleeps in a common room when he doesn't like how alone he feels in his barrack.
genji shimada, whose heart beat so fast when the cowboy compared his scars to tiger stripes that he forgot for a moment he wasn't entirely flesh and bone anymore.
genji shimada, who likes helping the nurses and doctors clean the medical bay when he has the time.
genji shimada, who melted into ana the first time she hugged him, to the point where she swore he was purring.
genji shimada, who watches helplessly as his dragon demands to sit on his commander's shoulder off-duty, and avoids eye contact when he laughs and interacts with her purring, chirping form.
genji shimada, who quietly pledges himself to an organization he doesn't even believe in, because he loves the people so much, he doesn't mind being the bad guy for once, if that's what they need from him.
genji shimada, a sparrow, and a survivor.

Finally beat All the question arcs for Umineko! While I’m waiting for the answer arc to boot up, I wanted to go over my thoughts so far, tho they’re probably a bit scattered and all over the place lol
Bro, the Ushiromiyas are so fucked up. It’s awesome. All of them are desperate, willing to stoop to disgusting lows. Their upbringing by Kinzo to be as coldblooded capitalists really fucked up their relationships growing up, but there’s also a side to them where they do want to be better. It’s.. a lot, they’re very multi-faceted.
Speaking of family, when people say Ryukishi07 used to be a social worker before working on his games, all the scenes with Maria and Rosa definitely prove this. Their scenes are very uncomfortable, and hit a little to close to home.  It’s incredibly tragic as well. Rosa really does love Maria, and wants to be a better mother for her. But she also despises Maria, with the stigma of being a single mother.
Along with that, it is intriguing that sexism is a rather blatant aspect within the writing. There is plenty of focus on Rosa, Eva and Natsuhi all being mistreated due to their status of being a woman. Eva in particular had to deal with the harsh misogyny from her brother and father, but as a result perpetrates that same cruelty to her sister and in-laws.
Beatrice is so fun. It’s surprising how naturally she went from a sneering, cruel and prideful woman that eagerly busts battlers balls at any given moment to a pathetic sopping beast by the end of Episode 4. Her dynamic with Battler is very fun, and I’m always having fun whenever they’re on screen together.
Finally, There’s the overall message of the series: Without love, it cannot be seen.
I’m not sure if Ryukishi was ever into true crime, but reading through the games during the current hype for the genre is fascinating, especially in episode 4. The bizarre murders of Rokkenjima becoming a focal point of rumors and gossip, constant theorizing as to what happened, in a way turning a tragedy to a plaything for armchair detectives. The survivor and their families are dehumanized, constantly being pestered for answers instead of being looked at sympathetically.
The element of love is important. Without love, or sympathy, finding the true nature and motives of the massacre will be impossible.
Very intrigued with how the answer arcs will play out. I was vaguely aware of how the question arcs went since I was first exposed to this series via the terrible DEEN anime, but from here on it’s all new territory. I’m very excited!
Entering the answer arcs, here are my theories so far;
Beato is definitely one of the servants. If I had to guess, probably Shannon with Kanon backing her up. Those two always felt off, especially during the third game where they somehow “came back” near the end. Plus, considering both of them are using pseudonyms the whole time, any declarations of their deaths in red can be moot if its not using their real names. With Virgilia being a possible stand-in for Kumasawa and Ronove for Genji, Shannon being a stand-in for Beato is possible.
Instead of 1 culprit behind all murders, it's likely there are multiple murders that are happening concurrently. All the siblings have a strong enough motive and quite a few have enough combat experience it's possible some of them really were trying to take others down for the inheritance/the epitaphs gold.
Anyways, onto new ground!

Between Magic and Mirrors
Would you believe me if I told you that this character
Tumblr media
is like this
Tumblr media
and this?
Tumblr media
While I watched Neo in RWBY, I couldn't help but notice the similarities she has to Umineko's Beatrice and Bleach's Sosuke Aizen and I'll explain all of these in more detail here:
NEOPOLITAN AND BEATRICE - IMAGINATION, MAGIC AND ESCAPISM
Beatrice is a character of Umineko who is known to be the Golden Witch but her true identity is Sayo Yasuda, Kinzo's illegitimate daughter born by incest who after Natsuhi accidentally pushed the servant who was holding Sayo causing Sayo to lose her private parts, being saved by Genji and Kumasawa who raise her in secret to avoid another incestuous episode by Kinzo. This caused Sayo to have insecurities about herself and her own gender and to make matters worse the other maids start to pester her for her clumsiness in her work as a maid and her only friend was Kumasawa with whom she develops a love for mystery stories and magic in general. Sayo was unhappy and always alone so she started creating imaginary friends to make up for her loneliness and because of her love for magic she created Proto Beatrice (later know as Gaap) to explain her own clumsiness and later creates Shannon persona, the perfect servant girl. Sayo's imagination becomes her refuge but also her prison because it gave relief to her loneliness and made her feel good about herself but in turn this isolated her from others. Later she meets Battler and for the first time she doesn't feel lonely for long but due to her loneliness she trusts Battler too much to the point that she takes seriously Battler's promise that he would come back for her but when he doesn't come back which makes Sayo feel betrayed but to make matters worse she discovers her true identity as Kinzo's illegitimate daughter, she goes mad, takes Beatrice persona as her own and think that she's a real witch.
Tumblr media
Later Sayo causes Rokenjima incident as a way to get revenge on the family that hurt her and especially Battler for leaving her alone but in turn she feels bad for everything she has done and chooses to commit suicide by drowning in the sea.
In the meta world Beatrice plays the killing games with Battler so that he knows that the reason for the Rokenjima incident is so that he would remember the promise he made to her when she was Sayo.
Do you know who more was born in a rich and toxic family that hurt her for her disability, used her imagination as a form of freedom and escapism and ended up loving a man just so that when that man disappears she goes mad and seeks revenge as a result?
Tumblr media
Beatrice and Neo are adults who act like children so they lash out at others but they don't take responsibility for their actions nor do they realize how their actions hurt others, they only care about their own pain. This is even seen when Sayo and Trivia create their imaginary friends (Gaap or Proto Beatrice and Pink Neopolitan) not only to feel accompanied but also to blame them for their mistakes.
Beatrice's actions led to the terrible situation that Eva was forced to live in as the sole survivor of her family and having to deal with the media accusation that she killed everyone on the island when in fact Eva was suffering for the loss of her husband Hideyoshi and her son George and the rejection of Ange and Ange herself had to endure being bullied at school for being the daughter of Rudolf and Kyrie, alleged murderers of Rokenjima, and also in her desire for her parents to return, rejected Eva believing that her parents and brother would come back for her. Battler was also hurt by Beatrice's actions because by trying to follow her and stay with her in her death, he survives but doesn't remember anything and is found by Ikuko Hachiyo who he marries and is tormented by memories that come to him through nightmares. Neo for her part wants revenge against Cinder but she is manipulated for her to help her and unload her anger against Ruby which makes Neo help Cinder to destroy an entire kingdom without mentioning that her actions are indirectly helping Salem to destroy the world because Salem's plan is to make the world a chaotic place so that when the Brother Gods are summoned they will destroy the world as a result of the chaos that exists.
Another thing that both have in common is their powers and how both are based on the manipulation of reality through imagination to some extent. Beatrice is a witch whose powers basically consist of making what she imagines come true, forcing reality to make what she believes to be real be real because Sayo, her true identity, dealt with loneliness through her imagination. The above can be seen from the fact that she didn't ask to revive Sakutaro because she believed that Rosa denied it but Angel revives him simply because she believed that Sakutaro was alive by having a spare stuffed animal.
Tumblr media
Neo's semblance allows her to manifest whatever she imagines into reality in illusions made of glass that everyone can see.
Both powers force reality to operate under the rules of Beatrice and Neo and even said powers are enhanced in places linked to the imagination (the Golden Land is a kingdom created by Beatrice where everything she thinks comes true and Neo is in Ever After, a magical place where it reflects the psyche of the characters and therefore also reflects the imagination). Beatrice's golden magic and Neo's semblance are perfect powers for a lonely and imaginative child and for deadly assassins, imagination is a double-edged sword because although Beatrice and Neo deal with their loneliness with their imagination (they create imaginary friends) and it gives them the freedom they feel they don't have with their original identities (Beatrice - Sayo Yasuda, Neopolitan - Trivia Vanille) in turn they get stuck in their own heads who just can't accept reality and instead look for reality to be as they want or believe it should be.
Beatrice and Neo are witches, Beatrice, as I said before, is the Golden Witch and Neopolitan is based on Trivia, the Roman goddess of witchcraft and there is something interesting about the concept of a witch in Umineko which is that a person becomes a witch by feeling rejection of their reality but they puts aside their humanity and their ties to other people and this also applies in RWBY: Sayo couldn't stand her life as a human and took the identity of Beatrice to feel free and take revenge and in the end she ends up in the Golden Land and in RWBY while team RWBY looks to get out of Ever After and Jaune can't get out until he gets help, Neo seems rather comfortable in Ever After and may even want to stay there.
Tumblr media
Beatrice dies in real life not accepting the blame for her actions and ends up alone in the Golden Land until the end of Umineko where Battler finally reunites with her and Neo is running the risk of ending up just like Beatrice: ending up as a lonely witch in an imaginary world.
Tumblr media
NEOPOLITAN AND SOSUKE AIZEN - LIVING MIRRORS
If there is something we know about Neo, it is how she is essentially a living mirror, not only because she creates illusions made of glass that everyone can see, but also because she is a mirror for the characters, especially for Ruby, but they know that another character curiously share these same traits with Neo?
Tumblr media
Sosuke Aizen is a character from Bleach and one of the main antagonists of the manga. Not only does he share some physical similarities with Neo, but his powers are illusions visible to all who have seen his Shikai's activation and something curious is that Neo's and Aizen's illusions are made of glass.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glass is an element that in fiction represents fragility, which gives us clues that Aizen and Neo's senses of identity are as fragile as glass itself: Aizen's identity is fragile because it is only based on what he can do (his intellect and his powers) to the point that he feels that morality does not apply to him, he feels that only he can change and rule the Soul Society and Ichigo even speculates that the reason Aizen wanted to conquer Soul Society was because of his desire for an equal, that his extreme power and intelligence only served to isolate him from the moment he was born (this can be seen in his effort to strengthen Ichigo as well as his respect for Kisuke Urahara stems from seeing them as equals) and Neo feels oppressed by her own family for not accepting her because of her disability and she unconsciously feels that no one is going to accept her and takes refuge in her idealized identity (Neopolitan) where she is powerful and free to do what she wants without being nobody oppresses her but she defines herself only by her bond with Roman (after their relationship goes from transactional to something genuine, Roman is the only one who respects her and wants her) and her life as a criminal that gives her freedom makes her dependent on Roman and unable to form bonds with others. Aizen and Neo were born with physical and/or mental conditions (Aizen - high intellect and enormous spiritual pressure and Neo - muteness and her semblance) that made them feel different from others, which caused their actions and their identity to be based on said conditions to the point that their powers they serve to reflect that sense of self that both have of themselves: sharp but fragile.
Aizen and Neo not only have a glass motif because of their fragile sense of self but also because they are mirrors that reflect the characters.
Aizen is a reflects that reflects Kisuke, Toshiro, Starrk and even Ichigo himself:
Aizen reflects Kisuke because they are both renowned geniuses for their great intellect and even looking to create something new just because they could just because Kisuke has moral boundaries that he dares not cross and Aizen just doesn't care about morals.
Aizen reflects Toshiro in the sense that they were both born prodigies having extremely enormous power and were ostracized because of it but Toshiro didn't let their power define him as a person but saw it as a part of himself and he managed to bond with the others while Aizen saw his power and intellect as his complete identity, which made him unable to have a bond with anyone.
Aizen reflects Starrk because they are both extremely powerful beings but this distanced them from each other because the others were weaker than them, making both wish they were weak in order to bond with others or meet people who were as strong as them or mlre. Starrk created Lilinette and found people (including Aizen himself) for him to be with without being overwhelmed by his power, relieving his loneliness while Aizen is unable to bond with anyone because he finds no one he considers an equal or that they are powerful enough that they are able to withstand his own power.
Aizen reflects Ichigo because they are both extremely powerful but both just want to be normal, the difference is that Ichigo knows that this is his wish, he expresses it openly and in the end lives a normal life with his family while Aizen does not recognize or realize it of that desire and seeks to be superior to others.
Neo is also a mirror that reflects other characters, in her case, Team RWBY and Jaune:
Neo reflects Ruby in that they both deal incorrectly with the loss of a loved one, refuse to examine themselves so they can't face said loss, and dress like said loved ones (Ruby wears clothing resembling the ones her mother Summer wore and Neo wears Roman's hat and gray cloth) to feel close to them and/or to feel that they are still alive in some way. Ruby suppresses everything she feels and decides to move on and Neo gets carried away by her emotions to the point that she doesn't care if she and others get hurt.
Neo reflects Weiss in the sense that they both grew up in a rich but toxic family and wanted to be free but Weiss grows as a person because she had the support of Winter and then she has the positive support of RWBY which allows when Weiss goes down in Ever After After losing her father and her home, she doesn't lash out at anyone but rather seeks to leave the place while Neo has no personal growth because she did not know anyone, she loses her parents who oppressed her and Roman is left, who does love her but his support it's not positive and when she loses him Neo gets angry and lashes out at others and doesn't seem to be concerned about staying in Ever After.
Neo reflects Blake because they were both born with conditions that make them different from the others (Blake is a Faunos and Neo is mute) and they were strongly discriminated for it and they both get together with a man (Adam and Roman) who lead them astray but they stay with them for accepting them only Adam becomes more and more violent and Blake leaves him to have a better life and manages to have healthy relationships with other people while Neo stays with Roman and she doesn't form bonds with other people and Roman, unlike Adam with Blake, he truly respects and loves Neo but being a criminal he led her down that same path and when Neo loses him she has no one else.
Neo reflects Yang in the sense that they are both proud of who they are and violently attack all those who hurt their loved ones and don't think about the consequences of their actions. The difference is that Yang learns that she shouldn't live and show only her idealized self but must accept that her vulnerability is a part of her identity and that she shouldn't reject it and she also learns that violence is not the answer to everything but has to to think things through before doing them and pay attention to the big picture while Neo clings to her idealized identity but puts aside his share of Trivia (her vulnerability) and Neo in her eagerness to lash out without thinking doesn't think about her actions which makes her easy for Cinder to manipulate neither does she think that what happened to Roman was partly his own fault and partly just a circunstance that could have happened at any time nor does she think about the bigger picture and how their actions affect that big picture.
Neo reflects Jaune in the sense that they were both seeking revenge for the death of a loved one (Pyrrha and Roman) at the hands of Cinder (only Roman didn't die directly for Cinder but he die by agreeing to do her plan) because they have no idea how to deal with the pain of losing a loved one and in turn cling to an idealized identity that gives them a sense of purpose (Jaune as a knight and Neo in his current Neopolitan identity). Jaune tries to take revenge on Cinder but everything goes wrong until he discovers his semblance and saves Weiss and puts aside his revenge, later in Atlas he learns to improve his defense and embraces his identity as a knight until he is forced to kill Penny because she asks him and from what we has seen, Jaune will have to examine himself, accept Penny's death and also accept the fact that he hurt her in order to reconcile with himself and find a new purpose and grow as a person while that Neo tries to take revenge on Cinder but she manipulates her into helping her and attack Ruby, and later betrays her and Neo instead of examining herself and her purpose that has her current identity, she simply chooses to stay with her current purpose which is to continue attacking Ruby and probably against Cinder, doesn't accept Roman's death and she doesn't care if she or others get hurt because of her which makes Neo have no personal growth.
The fact that Aizen and Neo reflect the characters is so true that they can even literally become reflections of the characters as if they were mirrors. They reflect what the characters hide from themselves or what they can become if they give in to their flaws and even Aizen and Neo use their powers to confuse their enemies and turn them against themselves.
Like I said earlier, Neo, Beatrice and Aizen have powers that influence reality to make it whatever they want but they don't get what they really want. Basically their powers make them writers but they are writers who don't know write a story that they like, being writers of their own tragedy: Sayo ends everything and just wants to die, Aizen wants company but never realizes his wish and ends Sealed in the Muken and Neo can't accept Roman's death and lashes out at everything and everyone, leading to a bad ending for Beatrice and Aizen and Neo runs the risk of ending up having a bad ending like Beatrice and Aizen.
