So, Ronnie’s a given for you! I can totally picture you both nerding out having a movie marathon in printed pjs. Teaching him about all the outdoorsy stuff you’re into would be so much fun too! He’d try so hard and be such a good sport, but be such an awkward klutz about it too! Then he’d gimp around the next day being sore and milking it for your attention lol.

I also see you with Clyde! Definitely a mountain man who would love to go hiking, camping, swimming, etc every weekend if you want. He’d be great at cooking over a campfire with you and one of the best of making the most of quiet evenings outdoors! He’d also have a chill energy that would always keep you grounded and an outlook that will always keep you beaming! He’s the best at doing all the little things just right.

I ship myself 100% with Flip. We’re both sarcastic jackasses who give people hell but are loyal and devoted. Both good under stress and pressure and would know how to unwind together. I think he could put up with me better than most and have a complimentary personality lol. He’d be down both for having some adrenaline junkie sort of fun if I’m in the mood, or just unwinding around a fire with some movies. I’d live for the teasing and banter and hot ass nights lol.

I love some Kylo AUs that I’d totally ship myself with too, but honestly the first time canon Kylo threw a tantrum, I would smack the shit out of him lol.

So, I’d say out of the canon guys, Clyde would definitely be my runner up. Even if I’d drive him nuts half the time, he’d probably be too laid back to say anything about it and he’d think of a more creative solution to keep me relaxed 🤣

new weekly post thing I’ll start doing until I forget to do it and give up: RAM / Random Arcade Memory Monday so I got plenty of arcade memories and plenty time to talk about em, so let’s get started. in celebration of Sega Saturn NA anniversary today, I have several arcade games to talk about that ported over to the Saturn, but for now I’ll talk about the first time I played Capcom’s first mega crossover hit X-Men Vs. Streetfighter.  Location: CiCi’s Pizza Buffet, Tampa FL (now closed) Games: X-Men Vs SF, Hydro Thunder (I think) & Off Road Year: 1996 / 1997

It may or may have not been the first time I’ve been to CiCi’s pizza buffet (which was like $4.99 for all you can eat ‘za, a frequent spot for birthday parties or post soccer practice munchdown), but it was certainly the first time I ever saw or knew about XMvsSF. Back then, even with the rise of internet browsing at home, it was more likely to not know about a new arcade game until it arrived at your local mall / stomping grounds unless you had subscriptions to every game magazine (I only recall the Sega and Playstation magazines to ever mention arcade releases, which I didn’t have). it was always an exhilarating feeling the first time you see something like Top Skater, Crazy Taxi, etc and playing it with no set expectations. so when I finished stuffing my face with cheap slimass alfredo pizza slices (and dessert ‘za!) I peered into the arcade and was floored by seeing both X-Men (which I obsessed over through the 90′s cartoon, comics, toys and trading cards) but..... STREET FIGHTER characters. it took me a min to process it while my friends or whoever I was with were already going at it. I jumped in on them greasy ass joystick and buttons and selected Charlie and Cyclops who I was familiar with from playing X-Men COTA at another arcade. playing Alpha games on Saturn pro-ed me up so I knew how to do specials but didn’t know how to switch characters to regain health until the next time around.

I loved this one too cause of how balanced the character roster was. there weren’t 50 people to choose from like a KOF game or later Capcom crossovers. also the pairing of characters they chose to show for the intro and when fighting the CPU made sense (ex: Cammy with Rogue, Zangief with Juggernaut, etc). if I don’t know who I wanna pick before time runs out, I just stick with the suggested pairings depending if I’m feeling team femme fatale or team tank at the moment. not much else to say really, other than how much I enjoyed the overall presentation of dat sweet attract mode showing X-Men and SF characters budding up and doing joined supers together. there was no other arcade fighting game that much on speed until Capcom continued topping themselves with the next beast. after visiting this same CiCi’s a couple more times I finally mastered the team battle mechanics and got to Apocalypse and beat the game. I absolutely adored it for combining two of some of my favorite childhood interests, and figured it wasn’t gonna be ported to anything anytime soon for how good it ran. little did I know that it DID get ported but only on the Saturn in Japan which required the 4MB RAM expansion cart (which I’ve never seen sold in America to begin with). of course I’ve got all the works going for me now to show my devotion and still play this game online regularly via Fightcade if anyone wants in on it. And here’s the ROM set to download everything you can play on Fightcade if you are interested.

Retro: ATLA in 2005

The world was a different place back in February 2005.

Avatar: The Last Airbender was released on February 21, 2005. It would be the first time that mass audiences tuning in would see the intro sequence above for the very first time, marking the beginning of a highly popular and critically acclaimed show.

It was also winter in the States, snowing in some areas. It was a Monday. It was a school day for many kids and teens, the start of a long week of studying. For the adults, it was the start of another work week. Ads on TV hyped up the show as a crisp, action-packed, martial-arts inspired adventure with fantastical fantasy elements. A fresh new show with a fresh new take on the genre, one that had potential to be a runaway hit with budding new fans.

In that same month, during that same week, American singer Mario Dewar Barrett, a.k.a. “Mario”, and his #1 single "Let Me Love You", would continue to stand at the top spot for best single for that week, becoming his best-performing single in 2005.

Earlier that month, February 13th, marked the start of the 47th Grammy Awards. Held in Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Britney Spears would go on to earned her first Grammy in the category of Best Dance Recording for her hit single “Toxic”.

Also earlier that month, on February 10th, Kim Jong Il, then the leader of North Korea, announced his country’s possession of nuclear weapons in response to the hostility his nation perceived to feel from the United States.

The same day ATLA was aired, then President George H.W. Bush, inaugurated for a second term back in January, was visiting Sri Lanka with Bill Clinton to observe the devastation of the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami.

February 6th marked the day of Super Bowl 39 (or XXXIX), pitting the New England Patriots against the Philadelphia Eagles. After the game, the very first episode of American Dad!, titled “Pilot”, aired on Fox.

Nickelodeon’s TV show Spongebob Squarepants was on a long hiatus by February of this year after the release of the Spongebob Sqaurepants movie in November 2004, amid rumors and speculation that the show would end, which it supposedly was originally. Its revival would occur later in the year.

February 2005 would see the release of numerous video game titles. Games like Star Wars: Republic Commando, Streetfighter III: 3rd Strike, and Star Fox Assault all released this month.

And with the release of popular and critically acclaimed titles such as World of Warcraft, Halo 2, Half-Life 2, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metroid Prime 2 back in November, with Resident Evil 4 following in January of 2005, gamers were still riding the waves of a reasonably strong winter gaming season.

In the following month however, March 6th of 2005, amid growing concerns of video gaming being harmful to children and teens, 60 Minutes would produce a segment attempting to address the issue of violence in gaming, which would later go on to be highly criticized by gamers for encouraging video game censorship.

And in February, as elections for the Iraqi Transitional Government were underway, 15,000 U.S. military personnel would have their tours of duty extended to provide election security, being pulled out of Iraq the next month. February had seen a relative lull in insurgent activity despite the continuation bombings and small scale attacks. This was considered an improvement compared to the months prior, where in November-December of 2004 U.S. Marines and Coalition forces would fight in the Second Battle of Fallujah, one the bloodiest battles during the U.S. led Iraq War and one of the bloodiest for the USMC in recent history up to that point.

Its against this backdrop that Avatar: The Last Airbender first aired on TV for Nickelodeon.

This is just some of the stuff that was going in that month, and in some cases it was very much a period of experiencing the aftermath of many significant events just in the previous year, just as the new year carried on.

okay so this is Ja Ji-Roo he is 23 and he’s the medic for The Wildlings and he was raised by an underground fighter for a father and a mother who was from a line of big gang masters, her father had been the boss of a huge gang so she learnt most of her parenting technique from him

newsflash: it was clearly shit parenting bc she treated lil Ji-Roo here like cRap. his mum used to rent him out to older men in order to get money and bc she’s a ruthless bitch didn’t care one bit how rough they went with him or shit they treated him she used to lock him and trap him in rooms and no matter how much he pleaded for his ma or screamed he was locked in there till he gave in.

he only really had a good relationship wifh his dad but his mum was evil af and was all like “his dad’s a good for nothing and jiroo is turning out the same being prissy tending to his dad all the time so I’m going to make him at least seem pretty and like he has a purpose”

anyways he was extremely good at science and health care and his dad always took him to the underground fights so he had a passion for medicine from a young age and everything and used to tend to and fix his father up after his fights

as he got older he learned more and improved and has saved his fathers life multiple times from lethal injuries. He has a kind of dark tint in the fact that the whole atmosphere of underground fights never scared him even when he was young af and instead he was just fascinated by how the body was wounded and recovered and everything so none of the gore bothered him

his dad didn’t know what his mum made him do and he knew jiroo was hella talented and so when he found out he was like I don’t want this life for him but he’s not exactly normal anymore so I can’t give him a normal one either so he got in contact with the recruiter of the Wildlings and they took on Jiroo and they had quite an emotional farewell where his father told him to show people forgiveness could be lethal as well

the gang trained him up to do fighting even tho his dad already taught him a decent lot of hands on skills they made him more deadly as a fighter and wanted to give him more purpose than just the medic so he’s also pretty educated and usually is a big part in helping the gang win in streetfights and also strategic planning

he also is a menace with the other gangs and they are annOyed by him bc he’s such a skilled medic and thinker that he constantly gives his gang the upper hand in stuff and they’re like gOd he’s such a rAt he doesn’t even do shit heS just thE meDiC plus the gang always babied him at first so highkey they hate his ma as much as he does and he often steals from her since money is so precious to her, ruins her business deals and mysteriously her rent boys go missing hmm naH Ji-Roo wouldn’t have shit to do with thAt 👀👀

i love him he bugs the shit out of people purely by existing lmao and his personality is like he’s kind of like the stern grumpy dad iM he isn’t grumpy he just is quite serious and doesn’t rlly joke around but he’s expressive af and sometimes very snappy and usually shows his emotions through his expressions and actions more than he does words

he’s pretty chill and good natured but everytime the gang does some dumb shit and gets lethally hurt aGain he’s like reprimanding them and pretending they’re a burden on him and making his life ten times harder when he treats them like “ffs give me a break u dumbasses” but he loves them bc without them he’d have no role in life and still be forced to do shit he hated

his ass is asexual very strictly plus he’s a gay bean but he doesn’t mind making out with girls sometimes usually drunk tho cause that’s the only time he can handle it and when it’s to save them from creeps but anyways when he finds the right one and he’s absolutely certain there’s connection and commitment he’d probably end up easing into the sexy time with them

he’s not a very good artist but he loves expressing himself with paint, it’s mostly abstract but queue that muse post where no matter how long it’s been theres probably still dried paint somewhere on him

being an only child in a small town where he wasn’t exactly that talkative meant he had a lot of hobbies and spend most of his time alone but he came on this show because he knew his town was too small to meet someone
