briefly talked abt this w/ my friend (hiii @kilowattsons) (dont read this if you dont want too many spoilers) after i FINALLY watched saw (2004) w/ them but i just. i jsut. ii..

throwing my SMG followers a bone rn. but hear me out hear me out. laura and travis + amanda and john parallels. esp in fanon context

I JUST. to preface this i KNOW that amanda canonically refers to john as her father, but that ddef doesnt make the relationship any better fdgkfng butOKAY OKAY. HEAR ME OUT

it pisses me OFF how (outside of that dumbass batch of ppl that ship them ...) fans REALLY tried to make travis out to be some sort of uncle figure for laura and thats just ..... not how things work? kdfgnf no matter HOW you spin it, their relationship will NEVER be healthy, unless you wanna have something so DEVOID of canon, which is just annoying. like. at that point just make up your own characters DSFKGNFDGK LIKE. travis and laura will not and can NEVER have a relationship where things arent icky or bad. and if you say otherwise youre just too indulged in fanon and i recommend playinmg the fucking game again

but the same goes for amanda and john yk... it jjust. their relationship is MEANT ot be one of toxicity and whatnot. its not MEANT to be healthy. but (and i see this a LOT) ppl love to paint a picture that shows them in this normal and loving relationship and to me its jsut ???? dont get me wrong i ENJOY seeing these characters in happy and normal contexts, but sometimes its just.. it becomes so far from canon that it becomes almost .... ignorant? like youre purposely avoiding the canon material and making things that only YOU wanna see? if that makes sense? which, once again, there is no problem with. i of course indulge in stuff like this from time to time as well but its just .... this is fucking saw we're talking abt. its not meant to be happy or w/e

the only reason WHY this relationship exists is bc of the saw world and the in world contexts. outside of it (if everyone and everything were cookie cutter and happy and not Bad) there wouldnt be a need for john to have amanda and for amanda to have john. bc in a "happy" case, john woudlnt have lost his child. and amanda woudlnt have a shitty relationship w/ her father. the NEED for them both wouldnt exist if everythign were ideal

i hjavent rly looked for it much but the whole "jigsquad" thing is just sooo ..... like. i dont want to be mean ! and i get ppl can do whatever they want w/ the media they consume ! but ! it annoys me kdfngfg bc realistically nothing in this world is healthy and its sort of annoying when ppl make it out to BE healthy. like. thats the whole appeal of these characters and their relationships. theyre MEANT to be bad for each other. theyre MEANT to be toxic. theyre NOT meant ot have a normal relationship! and writing it as such defeats its original purpose!

ok back to travis and laura . like. first things first travis being a cop and locking her and max up for 2 months already deters them from having a good and meaningful and normal relationship lmao . but at the end of chapter 9? he manipulates himself and his situation to get laura to help him in his family bullshit. aka . killing a person she knows absolutely nothing about. shes not a shitty person, so of COURSE shes goingn to say "sure" to the person tthats practically begging for her help. and in this line of events, she can even be killed! like! and travis should fucking know this! hes willing to use this girl hes traumatized for his own gain! to solve HIS problems! its fucked up

and do i even need to say how john used a girl hes traumatized for his own gain? its written all over the movies brother. and in canon, he DOES end up killing her! he leads her to her demise! yes i kn ow hoffman's note is essentially what lead amanda to her demise but. john is the one who put this all in motion and who wanted to test her again despite beating her test in the original movie. and for making it through the bullshit of saw ii

but yeah. long story short. ppl making it seem like that these 2 duos have good familial relationships is so just errrghhhh . in laura and travis' case, this is NOT the answer to being a normal person and not shipping them. they shouldnt have a relationship at all realistically lmao. and the same goes for john and amanda, even if amanda canonically relies on and sees john as a ffather figure. if it werent for their pasts, they wouldnt need each other

basically what im saying is that. travis and john traumatize these girls then eventually uses them to further their own agendas, which get them (or can get them) killed. and yet fandom LOOOVES to see them as this normal healthy familial dynamic and it pisses me off and and and

its not by much but! atleast abi has moments where youre like ... oh you actually have flaws and have Negative things associated w/ your character. (her indecisiveness, her going to camp to learn how to interact better w/ ppl, her seeing emma as something shes not etc etc)

AND EVNE JUST.... i could go on and on abt it but even kjust her relationship w/ emma ALONE? better thanwhatever the fuck kaitlyn has going on man. theres SO MUCH substance to emma and abi and i feel its not played upon much in this fanbase (as for a lot of things here :/ esp in relation to th egirls lmao)

HOWEVER . what they did w/ abi was suhc bullshit. her entire arc or story or w/e ONLY revolves around some guy. and if said guy didnt have the plot of turning into a werewolf? abi wouldnt have gotten like anything else. they treat her like shit, like genuinely

and dont even get me started on how like ? abi is one of the main targets for the rest of the group lmao. theres just SO MUCH you can do w/ that! but the game refused to play on it! they have it so in chapter 2 that almost everyone gangs up on her for not being as socially competent as everyone else and nothing comes from it????? play on her insecurities regarding the situation! play on that trauma! I’m kinda surprised that you don’t like Dylan? He seems to be such the fan fav I don’t think I ever actually seen anyone rank him so low on their list- what’s your opinions on his character?

yeaah i just didnt really vibe with him when i played, plus i got pretty annoyed seeing him everywhere before getting into the game (travis too but thats a whole nother thing). like good for all you guys for having fun but i just cant get into it

im gonna be honest about my opinions on him so if you reeaaaaally like dylan i recommend not reading. and i mean that genuinely

1.ive just. i immediately saw dylan as one of those like male characters that get super popular in a fandom bc he: is white.is a guy. is a brunette. is associated w/ a gay ship. and is fit under a "bad boy / mentally ill / misunderstood" trope. i truly and honestly dont care if someone likes these types of characters. as long as you're not a fucking freak, i dont give a shit what you do. its just such a prominent trend that should make you go HMMMMM fandom hates women and people of color! and basically im just sick of that trend! so seeing dylan also fit into it turned me super off lmao

2. in relation to his character, i think its fine, i guess, its nothing revolutionary. especially in regards to other supermassive characters.... i thought about this during work one day and like. emily has a similar character to dylan LOL and ive had this thought before but. dylan and emma are also very similar character wise! in terms of like. compensating ina very negative way due to insecurity! but you know whch characters get the most flack for being dicks? for being bitches? for being the worst? and you know who doesnt?

3. i also particularly hated the thing he did to abi during the camp fire scene. like. i dont care if you compensate by making jokes and shit, you're still an asshole. and so is emma. and so is emily. i dont understnad why dylan should get ANY different treatment. but anyway, that dare was absolutely targeted towards abi and nothing will change my mind on the matter. abi is very clearly on the outside of the group. hell, the entire time everyone (mainly kaitlyn and emma) makes comments about how incompetent abi is when it comes to dating anf shit. and so for dylan to ask what he did? it put her on the fucking spot and humiliated her. i dont care if he "saves" it if you dont interrupt as ryan, there's absolutely no way hes unaware of abi's standing social wise in the group. him asking HER that of all people is just shitty. he fucking knows what abi's answer is gonna be. and even though she never answers the question, the damage is already done.

and before anyone says anything, i know nick also was targeted in diff ways for being "incompetent" in this specific sense. which is another conversation im willing to have. but even so, rthe comment ryan still makes bout not letting that "prep aesthetic fool you"? and the way he kisses emma? he clearly has got some "game" or whatever the fuck. whereas abi doesn't really have any of those moments (except for kissing nick first, which is something kaitlyn ryan and dylan said she wouldnt do LOL). and speaking of kaitlyn? and in association, emma? what they did to abi is one of the things i hate most about them and what happens in game. its actually what made me begin to DISLIKE both of them when it happened. basically what im saying is, kaitlyn and emma arent exempt from this criticism just because i dont like dylan. and i also dont care if thats the "point" of truth or dare. it still makes all the characters involved fucking dicks. they know how abi is like, emma especially, so seeing them all pull this shit is just disheartening and sad.

yeah of course! ive already seen my fair share of stuff for that pairing and its fans being annoying so it was bound to happen at some point. i understand what you mean by a "normal" ship, assuming youre referring to the fact that charlie/dumet is a pairing between a serial killer and its victim, but i took it as a .... straight vs gay type thing, w/ the straight being "normal." i hope that isn't what you meant. also the emphasis on the "mlm" part of the pairing just..... doesnt sit right w/ me

i mean... from a lesbian perspective, we've had to LIVE off of pairing up two "obviously straight" characters together in order to get our representation. it's a totally normal phenomenon, especially when the number of canon wlw pairings is very small. so i dont blame anyone, esp men loving men, for searching for 2 "straight" characters to pair together. what IM criticizing is the fact how fandom focuses on mlm pairings, even when theyre toxic or lackluster, before even thinking of considering shipping something between 2 girls, let alone woc. i know im probably repeating myself at this point, but i want to make it clear that i dont have a problem w/ the mlm pairings themselves, its often the people behind those pairings that i have a problem with. ESP if they're like...straight women. so, apologies if it ever made it seem like i was bigoted towards those pairings. because, anon, based on what youre saying to me right now, that seems to be the case. calling all mlm ships "weird" just....isn't right. sticking w/ shipping canon stuff would slash what we engage with in half. i dont know abt you, but ive spent my entire LIFE engaging w/ 2 "obviously straight" girls and imagining what they'd be like in a relationship. you saying to stick w/ canon instead of "making everything gay" also applies to sapphics. we're both the same, we both had to make everything gay and read through a gay subtext to survive

sort of going off my most recent post, copy and pasted something from my notes back in ? october. was inspired to write something due to this post i saw

i obv don’t search out content through tags as much as i used to (for this exact reason i’m abt to discuss) BUT LOL. FUCK. YES it’s very easy to notice that kaitlyn is the most “competent” of the counselor group. she’s smart enough to know what is and isn’t fucking stupid as hell. but even THEN. it bothers me so much when ppl label her as the “normal” one or the ONLY one “who sits and watches while everyone else does absurd crap.” BECAUSE… LOOK AT HOW THIS FREAK ACTS AND TALKS IN GAME… yeah it could easily be attributed to shitty writing, which is something i can def talk abt some other time but. SHES FAR FROM NORMAL…. and i mean this with so much love in my heart i promise, but if we played the same damn game it’s evident something is very wrong with her LOL. she’s not only the group’s damage control. she’s not only there to make sure they don’t lose their fucking heads. she does and says SO many effed up things BC ITS JUST HOW SHES CONDITIONED… and does that paint a depiction of someone who’s 100% Competent and Normal ? she dares emma what she dares bc she thinks it’s the “right” thing for abi, despite it VERY OBVIOUSLY upsetting her. she acts like a dick towards jacob abt emma breaking up with him, despite being apparently very close childhood friends?? she comforts emma after finding out her best friend fucking died by telling her that her death was quick. being blunt and mean as seen from kaitlyn isn’t what society sees as “normal,” unless i’m missing something goddamn huge!!!!! reducing her down to the only “regular” person there rids her of what already LITTLE nuance her character has! it’s not fair to her, and overall it’s just. it’s fucking insulting! because of COUUUURSE it’s the Token Asian Girl right? of course SHE gets to bear the title of Token Normal And Smart One Of The Friend Group😊😊 despite having several moments in canon that CONTRADICT THAT SENTIMENT! let kaitlyn be silly! let kaitlyn contribute to the chaos! just because she knows when to put a end to something doesn’t mean shes incapable of doing stupid and fun shit just cause!!!!!!!

basically. it’s fuckin weird that kaitlyn is given this specific title being the only woman of color. she’s literally just emily davis without the “unlikable” parts, meaning ppl are SUDDENLY gonna be much more willing + adamant to place this characterization upon her and reduce her down to it!

wrote all of this b4 seeing how max’s rejection letter explicitly talks about graduate school, so take it w/ a grain of salt. but i still think it makes a plausible case.

showing means more than straight up telling in my opinion, and the writers did a terrible job at conveying that laura + max were supposed to be going into grad school. so here

gonna be talking about this response, ill be referring to the post linked. unless its SPECIFICALLY stated that laura is a college graduate and i just somehow missed it entirely, then ignore this whole thing i guesss

anywho, based on the information given to us IN GAME, there's little to no way that we're meant to interpret laura + max as already graduated college students. (JUST based on how they speak about school, i mean). especially when its said that max is entering school as undecided. and, correct me if im wrong, but i dont believe you're able to graduate undergrad school STILL without a major! i think the most that will happen is the school graduating you as liberal arts, but laura explicitly talks about max being undecided + him needing to pick a diverse set of classes because of that.

and based on the post im currently referring to, its said that both laura and max are currently going into college for their masters / doctorate degrees. which IS possible, except for the existence of max’s undecided major still. in order to get a masters (and ESP a doctorate i assume), you must have prerequisite courses under your belt and so forth to even qualify. youre not able to strive for a masters or doctorate without knowing what you wanna major in! at the very least, max going into his second college experience just doesnt make any sense.

and this is very much so subjective but, the way they both talk about it? it reallt does not seem like theyve already encountered 4 whole years of college. plus laura LITERALLY says that she just needs "the classes that'll let [her] major in veterinary sciences." if she was in school for her postgrad degree then she would already have her major all set and confirmed, would she not????????? YES the writers or whatesvesrg or WHOEVER may have "wanted" both laura and max gto be in their early twenties with a bachelors degree, but trhe game has several pieces of evidence that go against it!

so, no, you can't blame people for seeing both laura and max as fresh out of highschool! because the game SUPPORTS that theory! with ttheir talk surroundning college and the fact that the other counselors are STILL TEENAGERS....

in conclusion. the quarry really droppped the ball w/ this one LOL. i couldn't give less of a fuck if you still see them as 21 / 22, do whatever you want i guess, just don’t be dicks about it. and please be AWARE of how and why someone may think otherwise, especially when this scene in chapter 7 exists and provides much more than needed for us to make a plausible inference. because nothing they say aligns with them being postgrad students, nothing makes any goddamn sense and it pisses me off!!!!!!

yeaaaah fair enough dfgjndg thats exactly why i get pissed off playing the game tbh. it just becomes so convoluted with this romantic whatever bullshit that it gets SUPER TIRING...... but that's ok though bc silas kaylee and caleb need someone to love them unconditionally right?

anywho! i appreciate you wanting to see my other unfiltered opinions on the characters kdfgdfjg bc gosh do i have a lot. especcially for TQ bitches. as i just ssaid,

i AM going to get unfiltered and potentially brutal so if anyone is your ultimate bestie i recommend not reading (abi and laura are safe though of course<3) (mainly because nothing about either of them necessarily irritated me LOL and im easy to irritate)

im going to reference my thoughts on the characters from a note i wrote after playing through like ? chapter 4 for the first time. but honestly not miuch has changed. and just to preface this a good portion of my negative opinions come from the campfire scene in chapter 2 LOL like. when i first played the game i began disliking like more than half the characters here alone

dylan: talked about him here (its not positive)

nick: i just think hes a prick who doesn't deserve abi 🤷 of course he was given the short end of the stick in terms of screentime, but its kind of funny bc kaitlyn has a similar amount of Actual walk around time and she's there like. the entire game LMAO so yeah that pisses me off. nick has 3 moments where you play as him, and kaitlyn has 5/6, depending on how you separate her section in chapter 10. they both have the same amount of Get To Explore And Walk Around time though, which is a whopping total of one thanks guys. anywho. even before he began acting like a creep i didnt like him lol... and no surprise but it all stems from chapter 2...

long story short, i dont doubt that nick actually cares for abi and likes her but i think in the grand scheme of things it mostly has to do w/ him wanting tits and ass... sort of similar to mike's whole deal... and i believe this based on the bullshit he pulls w/ emma. yeah he says that "tHiS mIgHt NoT bE a GoOd IdEa" and yet he still plays along despite dylan saying that 2 people can kiss AS LONG AS everyone consents. he could've gotten out of the situation. and yet he fucking didnt. i dont care if he didnt realize the consequences of his actions, if he TRULY liked abi he wouldnt have done this shit in the first place. "ive had my moments, im not proud of some of the stuff ive done" DOG YOU JUST HAD A MOMENT AND YOURE NOT EVEN FUCKING APOLOGIZING TO THE PERSON YOU HURT!!!!!! idc if it technically wasnt totally his fault. he still was involved in humiliating and upsetting abi. all he blames it on is playing alonog with emma's plan to make jacob jealous and aside from that just being such a shitty anf fucked up excuse in general, its not even ???? true?????????? GOD. IM SORRY. THE WHOLE SITUATION MAKES ME SO UPSET

jacob: as said in my previous TQ / UD rankings... i really flip flop w/ him alot. however im def leaning towards neutral to dislike NGL. i HAAATED his whole thing w/ emma like incredibly so. however. i did feell real bad for him during chapter 1, despite already knowing that he was the one to bust the truck up and keep everyone there another night. i felt bad despite already having a reason TO dislike him. kaitlyn was being mean for no reason. nick and dylan were being mean for no reason. it's just... it's almost like he was being used as the group's laughing stock. but as time went on i just continually became less and less willing to sympathize . hell, he's just a INFINITELY less sympathetic josh... of course seeing him crying and upset in ch 3 was sad, but at this point i don't really know what he expected im sorry. he really dragged all these other people into his bullshit with emma. and it's more than clear how emma feels about their relationship, of course emma wasn't great either with him, but jacob isn't an angel ... EITHER in this situation. of COURSE he couldn’t have known that the night would go the way it does, but it doesn’t negate the fact that fucking up the truck was a shitty move regardless LMAO as said previously, i HAAATe how fucking possessive he is of her. like when nick tells jacob that he could see what emma wantss? and jacob just laughs it off? it's so fucking stupid dog. character wise though, he of course has a lot going for him and i can see why people find appeal in him. especially seeing hwo many stereotypes theyre subverting, in terms of jacob showing emotions and shit. but for me personally, it's a no

ryan: my man🤝 even after all this time.... i find him very respectable and i very much appreciate him. similar to my deal w/ abi, even his more "asshole-ish" moments / dialogue choices (aside from a few off the top of my head LOL) are like. justified... and in character... like. him being so pissed off at and wary of laura? like????? laura is my beloved but this random girl just popped out of nowhere, killed one of his closest friends, and now wants to kill what he has of a father figure? like yeah id be acting like ryan too if i were put into his situation LMAO yeah you can be annoyed w/ his actions and behavior, but in context? the way he's acting is understandable and justified. it doesnt DESERVE criticism, because there's nothing to criticize! he's acting as any normal person would! of COURSE it's annoying how he doesn't BELIEVE laura, that's a whole other can of worms, but overall he's allowed to be a pissed off little bitch. and him potentially going against the whole party idea? that line of dialogue is just more in character for him i will not accept any other answer. it makes no sense that he'd suddenly go against chris' word. and it PISSES ME OOOOFF seeing how the game still like ? has ryan show up to the party despite being adamant against it.

ANYWAY.... ppl don't appreciate his autistic swag like i do. "he has no character" "he's boring" TO YOU. y'all rly see a character mainly speak in a monotone voice and rarely smile / show expression and go. yeah he's boring . do you not see the like . connotations of that. like be for real. he’s like. one of the only few genuinely good ppl here lmao and seeing how chris says that ryan is one of his fave counselors and how he TRUSTS him enough to hold all this responsibility + have all these in depth talks w him it’s just. you see what kind of person ryan is just from that. and how so far ryan is the only character (while you’re in control) who’s able to interject whatever bullshit is being said at the moment it just. i’m sorry. he’s just a good guy. i respect how he’s willing to go against the bulk of the group during the whole party or lodge thing. i also respect that he’s willing to put a fucking end to dylan’s invasive fucked up truth question. i KNOW that it all depends on the Player to choose these specific options BUT. they just fit ryan’s character more so🤷 what can i say. fuck everyone else

THERE'S LITTLE TO NO SUBSTANCE TO HER CHARACTER.... AND THERE CERTAINLY ISNT MUCH TO FEEL SYMPATHETIC FOR..... i say this bc. almost all the other TQ characters have this moment of ): aw, here's why i should care about and feel bad for you. BUT KAITLYN????? ANYWHO. this person basically said smth along the lines of. old game jill was noble and kind yet still human. while remake jill ws just a bitter bitch w/ a shit personality. [jill voice] ARE YOU KIDDING ME? ARE YOU /FUCKING/ KIDDING ME?

LIKE. i dont know what goddamn gamesw e played but jill in re1? her personalitu is nonexistent!!!!! maybe its the misogynistic tendencies of the game maybe its the subpar voice acting and writing thats throwing me off BUT. i reaaaaaally dont think there's anything special that stands out abt re1 jill

and just saying but it would’ve been Looooooads better and funnier if jill remained a little bitch for the entirety of the game. like. it’s just ? more in character for her, esp for what little character / context we’re given at the VERY beginning. her remaining snarky and shit would’ve made more sense… especially considering her situation AND how we’re meant to perceive her… she doesn’t seem like someone who’d just throw away her initial (CORRECT, BTW) opinion / instinct all because of one (1) save from some dude… it just doesn’t make sense

any normal human being would’ve acted the way jill did towards them?????? like? especially after reading about and only IMAGINING the intense and awful shit she must’ve been subjected to both while in and out of stars. i’m SORRY but one gesture (even if it WERE saving her life) from some random guy i just met isn’t going to magically erase all the trauma i faced from umbrella themselves???? like UGH god fucking hell. i understand that you can only make something such as a video game so long or so short but come ON man!!!!!! if you SERIOUSLY want to include this sort of development in a game like resident evil, ever heard of this thing called good pacing? FNSHCJSKKFS like??????? even within game this all would have occurred under 24 maybe even under 12 hours???????? it’s just. in no way in under ANY circumstances is this sort of change of opinion realistic! esp not for jill and what she’s had to go through! like [jill voice] BITCH your corporate overlords have been making my life HELL for the past who knows how long! i may be fine with Carlos the Person, but i am NOT fine with Carlos in UBCS. and until that title is separated from your name, i will Not be associating with you outside of this mission!

like it makes sense that jill would so quickly comply bc 1. her life is in danger and sticking w these guys may increase her survival thus getting the truth That Much Closer to exposure and 2. her cooperation may help tons of lives… and of course she’s not going to turn away from saving others. soooo. and just to clarify, jill’s own life is obv the LEAST of her concerns here. like. the only reason why she’d prob want to stay alive is bc. she has all this dirt on umbrella! dirt that NEEDS to reach the light of day! that’s prob one of the ONLY reasons why she hasn’t given up completely, the information that ONLY she has and so it HAS to make it to the people!!!!! if it’s Huge and Important enough for umbrella to create a whole ass fucking buffed BIOWEAPON bitch to hunt down the remaining stars members? yeah. i have a feeling it’s incredibly important for the world to know

and just. in a writing sense? i think it would’ve been much more entertaining if jill kept that act up until like idk they realized that hm. i don’t think i wanna be associated w these bitches (umbrella) anymore. regardless, on the other hand, i still can def see jill’s demeanor softening as the game progresses (esp after she bonds w the people themselves and NOT the platoon members. and after they help each other out) but like overall? i just. i can’t see her letting her guard down that easily! it just isn’t fucking right! or realistic! it’s a bunch of bullshit actually!

AND ITS ONLY WITH THE GIRLS TOO..... GIRLS CAN NOT ACT IN RESPONSE TO THEIR LIFE AND BRAIN ALTERING TRAUMA WKITHOUT BEING DEEMED AS ABUSIVE OR BITTER OR A BITCH..... THE SAME FUCKING THIGN HAPPENED TO THE FANDOM'S PERCEPTION OF MIA IN RE8 LMAO......

i WANT more girls to be bitter! to be upset! to be assholes! to be nasty! to be little shits! whether justified or not! i WANT more girls to be different from the cookie cutter safe depictions everyone EXPECTS a women to be! and don't get me wrong resident evil is FAR from accomplishing this goal LMAO i just believe jill is and COULDVE been such a great example

this went all over the place (i copy and pasted another note of mine discussing the topic while also adding new thoughts) but in conclusion: let jill valentine be a little bitch. there's nothing wrong w/ her being a little bitch. i ENCOURAGE her to be a little bitch. it makes sense for her character and what she's gone through, and while criticizing her demeanor is valid, taking her behavior out of (very much needed) context isn't ok or right. and sayinf that she lost all her nobility and sense of justice is just straight up wrong. jill did everything she did in the re3make BECAUSE she cared more for the lives of others, her own personal feelings clearly meant nothing, seeing how she still helped UBCS out despite her inital harsh reaction to them.

ive seen someone else mention this and its just soooo dumb how like. john's whole thing is like "vengeance is bad!" as if his entire fucking thing isnt inspired by vengeance. one of the first ppl killed was cecil was is not? the one who basically killed his child? its just. and i KNOW thats probably done on purpose, but i dont doubt that there are some ppl out there who like ???? genuinely side w/ his thinking. the hypocrisy is os just... it makes me so upset LMAO once again, i know thats probably the POINT but GOSH it pisses me off how some ppl can still "like" him despite the clear hypocrisy in how he acts and thinks

inm genuinely so fucking upset rn. just based on a brief browse of jasons wiki, hes in such a similar boat to ingrid fire emblem but holy fucking shit you know whose character gets reduced down to racism? and you know whose doesn't? and you know wha tth ebiggest difference is between the two of them? im going to fucking kill someoobe

Saw your latest post and I just want to add that the people who do ship Charlie/Du'met are some of the most toxic people I've seen in SMG fandom. If you dare to bring up the issues with their ship (Especially in the way it overtakes the WOC wlw ship AND the other interracial ship) they'll attack you about it 💀

And not only do they act like this (most of the time) but the fact that they're more willing to ship a man with the guy who is TRYING TO KILL HIM AND HIS EMPLOYEES over the actual romantic relationships in the game is insane to me. People will ship the most horrendously toxic mlm ship before even thinking about the canon wlw ship and it's infuriating. Funny thing is I liked Charlie just fine before but these people are making me hate him lmao

Oooooh yeah that's not surprising to me 😭 of course the shippers of an inherently bad pairing are going to bad themselves LMAO so sorry if youve ever had to deal w/ any of them in that way :/ i remember seeing something happen under a mutuals post (lazylesbianbear hiii) and its just.... things really start to show when they get SO defensive over someone giving (well deserved, mind you) criticism for their pairing. it sucks that they attack over something like that bc it shows how guilty they are lmao. it shows that they truly and honestly dont care abt those issues OR the fact that their ship is overtaking erin / jamie and mark / kate (who i totally forgot were a pairing for a sec. sorry mark and kate) aka 2 pairings that are LEAGUES above whatever charlie / dumet is. what im saying is, they dont give a fuck abt poc or women, even if they try their best to "prove" it

IT IS INSANE !!!!! AND ITS SOOO SAD..... we already get jack shit in terms of representation (both wlw and interracial relationships) so of course its gonna suuuuck so bad when the most popular pairing is some serial killer and his victim. but i suppose i expect nothing less of fandom :/ and you're right, they'll gravitate towards the worst / most lackluster mlm pairing before ever even considering a wlw one, let alone w/ woc. and its so disappointing. sorry that these ppl have made you dislike charlie a lot more than before though. ive experienced the same shit so you're def not alone in that

Okay no but like I LOVE my lesbians HC for my fav girls and Kaitlyn is my fav but it rubs me so WRONG when the one women of color in this game who canonically shows interest to the other half of the popular MLM ship gets labeled the lesbian in rylan fics and then just?? They don’t even do anything with that. They don’t do more they just go “she’s lesbian she’s not interested in Ryan!!” And it makes me :))))). Like hmmm

NO ME TOO !!!!!!! i love headcanoning my fave characters as lesbians..... and i LOVE seeing it in fandom. but there are just certain times where it DOESNT work and can be seen as just straight up malicious. esp if they themself are not a lesbian lmao

i personally would see kaitlyn as a lesbian bc the way they portrayed kaitlyn and her "crush" on ryan? it just... the chemistry and whatnot is nonexistent to me. and thats at the FAULT of the game! bc they never even bothered to have a scene where its JUST ryan and kaitlyn on screen! its SOOOOO goddamn obvious which side of the """"love triangle"""" they were rooting for, hence the lack of attention they gave kaitlyn and ryan and bc of that, her attraction to ryan could absoolutely be seen as comphet. but youre absolutely right. of course the one woman of color who DOES show interest in a guy is reduced down to a lesbian JUST because she "gets in the way" of ry////lan

literally saw someone refer to ry////lan as a "canon" queer couple and like LMAO I CANT STAND IT HERE. its insinuated YES bc fuck you supermassive but kaitlyn is STILL THERE...... and evne if you choose all the ry////lan directed choices, THEY STILL DONT CANONICALLY END UP IN A RELATIONSHIP. and i dont give a FUCk if supermassive THEMSELVES have said something otherwise. they already droppped the goddamn ball w/ kaitlyn in SEVERAL different ways, so if they did? fuck them for real. kaitlyn deserved better. i could go on and on about specifics if you for some reason dont believe me when i say the game favors ry////lan, so let me know i guess. may just make a post about it regardless. and dont even give me that "im closer to dylan" bullshit

im very glad im not the only person who it rubs the wrong way though, in fact, it makes me very happy that im not being over dramatic or w/e. youre totally allowed to be put off by it bc it IS simply meant to toss kaitlyn to the side and get her out of the way of their WAY more popular MLM pairing

and it sucks bc like....of COURSE ry///lan being a queer interracial relationship is a great step into the right direction and very good, but so is kaitlyn / ryan. ryan is still a bi black man and its SO easy to also make kaitlyn bi. ryan being in a "straight" relationship doesnt erase his queerness. and like? w/ kaitlyn and ryan, itd be a interracial relationship between TWO poc and thats like......barely seen. which is another reason why erin / jamie is so fantastic, especially since theyre a queer relationship on top of it. AND YET. THEY GOT JACK SHIT COMPARED TO EVERYTHING ELSE HUH? GOD. i wont sit here and lie i have yet to get into TDIM and make art / stuff but. im not shocked that they have SIGNIFICANTLY less

but yeah... them not even doing more w/ kaitlyn being a lesbian is HMMMM absolutely suspicious. it rly exposes their TRUE intentions real quick. it just shows to me that they dont actually care abt portraying a lesbian, let alone telling their story
