I posted something way back in September 2019 but then went on a long 9 month hiatus and came back on June 3rd 2020!
Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why?
I write anything except smut and certain themes like disorders or abuse because I’m not too comfortable writing it yet and I don’t want to write it wrong and potentially anger or offend people.
Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc?
I write x readers!
Why did you start writing on Tumblr?
I started writing because I’ve always loved to write and have been doing so since I was little. I got introduced to the writing community on tumblr when I was just aimlessly surfing one day and I remember reading the ‘To All The Boys I Loved Before’ series written by @theboyz-engup and was just so inspired that I made my own The Boyz blog to begin writing. I got into NCT sometime during my hiatus so when I came back from it, I started to write for NCT too.
What inspires you to write?
The feedback most definitely, shows and books I’ve read and watched too but mostly feedback.
What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most?
I like writing angst although most of my works tend to be more fluffy...
What do you hope your readers take away from your work?
Ah, my works are generally pretty simple but I guess I’d want them to just get immersed in the story like how I was as I was writing it!
What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively?
I just watch Netflix or browse through Youtube, sometimes watching videos other times listening to music to find inspo.
What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful?
My favourite (published) work so far would probably be ‘Wedding bells’ on my tbz account and my Doyoung timestamp at 11:11am on my nct account! My most successful generally would be a Sunwoo timestamp at 11:22pm.
Who is your favorite person to write about?
For NCT + WayV, I’d have to say Doyoung. For The Boyz, I would say maybe Jacob?
Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose?
Yeah, I guess so. I think when we write fanfiction, we already have an idea of what sort of personality our idols have and we keep that in mind when we write for them but for completely original prose, you create your own characters so in a way, you have to think a little bit deeper for how you want your OC to act or talk.
What do you think makes a good story?
Sweet and simple description rather than ones that are overly detailed? A story with good flow is good!
What is your writing process like?
Hm, I usually start off with choosing a song on youtube to listen to as I write or I’d have a movie or show playing in the background ( usually it’s Friends these days ) then I’d start writing. I tend to write only at night or have more motivation at night, I’m not too sure why either.
Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story?
Sure, why not? It’d be interesting but also a little difficult to start to imagine a completely original character in the story since I’d be very used to thinking of the idol who was previously a character in the story.
What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand?
I love the enemies to lovers trope! I think it’s really interesting because you start off hating each other and it’s cool to see how that gradually progresses to love. I don’t have a lot of tropes I hate but I’ve never really been able to write about werewolves or vampires? It’s just not my thing at all.
How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you?
Oh, it means everything to me! Sometimes when I’m down or unmotivated, I always go back to checking out reblogs or kind things people have said about my works and I’d feel like writing again. It’s like feeling rejuvenated and gaining inspiration to continue with my wips.
What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)?
I won’t consider myself very successful ^^” although I must say that I’m growing faster than I expected. I think it’s probably because I do update consistently but I’m not sure if that’s going to change once I start school.

Yeah, I guess I would. There are a lot of things I’d like to change.

Oh man, like a 100 chicken-sized horses for sure. A horse-sized chicken? I’d die with one peck.
If you were a trope in a teen high school movie, what would you have been?
That one loner kid probably… I’m generally pretty quiet in school.
Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures? Nope, not really.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’m quite content here in Singapore but I’d love to be able to live in the USA, New York or in the UK, London for once in my life.
Fun fact about yourself that not everyone would know?
I am afraid of the dark.
Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged?
Yeah, and I don’t really understand why.
Do you think art can be a medium for change?
Sure, it can be! I think art is sometimes able to tell stories that can’t be told verbally. It moves people in a way and I think it can be used to truly express the artist’s message to their audience.
Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself?
Honestly, sometimes when I’m unmotivated but mostly no. I love whatever I’m writing when I’m writing it for the most part.
Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times?
No? At least not that I know of.
Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr?
They do but they don’t know my URL.
What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers?
Thank you so much for believing in me and appreciating my work! I am grateful for every single one of you guys and you are all my motivation to keep writing and produce better written works. Without you all, writing is somewhat duller and hearing that you guys like the work I put out means the world to me. I love you guys!!
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there?
Don’t be! We all start somewhere and taking that first step may be a little daunting at first but I promise that what follows is going to be magical. You’re going to be able to gain a lot of inspiration and friends, you are going to be able to greatly improve your writing but what’s best is that you’ll feel like you are now part of a writing family on tumblr! Do not be afraid of showcasing your works because there is always bound to be an audience for it and even if your writing style doesn’t suit someone, there’s definitely another group of readers who will love every single piece of work you publish ^^
Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr?
Nope! I hope I never do.
Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey?
YES and I love every single one of them. Thank you to @jenocakes @atbzkingdom @chaoticdeobi @hae-sicheng @moondustaeil @ihearttbz @badwithten @glossyjaems @lovely-kpop-writer @jopping-to-my-kpop! There are a few more but these are just the ones that pop up in my mind first.

note: this gets suggestive at parts/has mentions of sex, there’s alcohol
he can’t stop staring.
mark has virtually no alcohol in him, mainly because he knows he’s a giggly drunk and he doesn’t want to make a fool of himself. not in front of you, at least - you, with your bright smile and a faded leather jacket hanging over your shoulders. you look different under the dimmed lights of the bar, though mark supposes it’s because he only ever sees you hovering over him, blending in his concealer as best you can. the you he sees everyday, armed with eyeliner and makeup palettes, is very different from the you he’s gazing at from across the bar counter, a small glass of some amber liquid between your fingers.
he doesn’t know why he’s surprised to see you - this joint is well-hidden, frequented only by music industry professionals and those adjacent. you should be expected to be here, frankly - it’s close to your workplace as it is. that, and it’s a friday night. you have to let loose some time.
as you talk and laugh and take sips from your drink, mark can’t help but trace your features with his eyes. he finds himself wanting to sink his teeth into your lower lip, place kisses along the column of your neck. you’re always above him, watching him like a hawk at work like it’s your job - and he supposes it is, since you don’t want him to mess his stage makeup up. he wonders what it’s like to be on top of you.
it’s easier said than done - where he can get awkward and stumbly and rambly, you’ve always been calm and collected around him.
“you don’t have to keep staring, you know,” jaehyun mutters directly into mark’s ear, forcing the younger to tear his gaze away from you. “just walk over and say hi. otherwise you’ll spend the rest of your life wallowing over the fact that you didn’t even try to understand (name). quit acting like your attraction is some code you have to decipher. i’m gonna go find johnny, i’ll see you later.”
before mark can protest everything that’s just been said to him, his bandmate - and drinking partner for the night - is pushing off of his stool, already starting to walk away. mark watches him go, his own brow starting to furrow, and wonders if there’s any way for him to get back at jaehyun in the near future. once ‘the deserter’, as mark has mentally deemed him, is fully out of sight, mark glances down at his own almost full bottle of soju, wondering what to do with himself.
a gentle hand on his forearm forces him out of the starting to wallow in self-pity.
“hey,” you say, shooting him a small smile. your glass is now empty, he notes, mostly because he looks at it instead of you. judging by your soft, lilting laugh, you see this. that’s probably also why you set your glass down on the counter, the gentle thud of its weighted bottom hitting wood forcing mark to look away from your hands and to your face.
“oh-uh, hey,” mark manages to get out, tongue twisting clumsily over his words as he tries desperately to act like a normal person around you. he hadn’t felt chic enough to be at a club before - he’s just in a pair of skinny jeans and a black button down, the top two buttons undone and his sleeves rolled up to his elbows to make it look like he tried at least a little - but now, beside you and your stunning self, he feels as if he’s out of place just by existing. just as you start to say something, the song that’s in the background - a mellow, sultry one - changes to what can only be described as a bass-boosted trap beat, forcing you to lean in to speak.
your lips brush mark’s ear, and he knows he’s a goner.
“i know we don’t know each other too well,” you start, breath warm against his neck. his grip on his drink tightens, and his cheeks feel like they’re on fire. “but i saw you staring at me from across the bar. figured we should... talk.”
you lean back to look him in the eyes, to let him see your teasing smirk as he mulls over what you’ve just said. his own eyes are darkening under your gaze, and as his blush recedes into something more unplaceable, you’re surprised to find mark placing his hand on your waist, tugging you even closer. for his part, his fantasies have just presented themselves to him. he isn’t one to let go of opportunities easily.
“i’d prefer it if i did the talking,” he murmurs, teeth barely, but surely, grazing your earlobe. “it would be great if you listened to me. is that okay?”
this time, he pulls away from you, and you find your wide eyes directed at the exposed bottom of his throat while your mind is stuck on how his fingers drum against your waist. he’s waiting on a response, you realize, and you nod before speaking, tone slightly - though not entirely - meeker this time.
“my place isn’t far from here...” you trail off, not bothering to finish as mark grasps your hand in his. he pulls some cash out of his pocket, places it on the counter, flicks his eyes towards the exit, and you’re both halfway across the bar when he realizes that he still has one thing left to do before he can leave entirely.
to jaehyun hyung: don’t wait up. gonna be at (name)’s
before he can get a response, he pockets his phone. even when it pings not two minutes later, he ignores it in favor of hungrily pressing his lips to yours in the back of a taxi. he won’t be looking at his phone for the rest of the night.
as his fingers make dents in your black leather jacket, he doesn’t even think about his text messages.

where it all began...
(1k special)
“Rise and shine, dear! It’s another day of school!”
You winced as the sunlight from the world outside streamed in through the open windows, feeling disconcerted by the sudden brightness in the room. Rubbing at your bleary eyes, you groaned as you watched your grandmother clear out your desk from the night before. Your homework was sprawled all over the table and in your fatigue, you had forgotten to even turn off the lamp before turning in for bed. The room was an utter mess with clothes, textbooks and stray pieces of papers scattered over the floor and empty mugs of instant coffee on your table.
Shaking her head, your grandmother tutted disapprovingly at you.
“How someone can live in such disorganisation is beyond me. For heaven’s sake, clean up after yourself!”
You waved a hand carelessly, still feeling sleepy as you buried your face into your pillow.
“I’ll clean up later, grandma…”
“You always say that.” She rolled her eyes before she asked, “Aren’t you supposed to up by now?”
“What… What time is it?”
“It’s 7:34am.”
Instantly, you were wide awake, shooting up from your bed with your hair sticking out in all directions and drool on your cheek. You scrambled through tangled sheets to make a mad grab for the clock and very nearly screamed out loud when you saw the time for yourself.
“How could I have slept past the alarm?!” You thought as you leapt out of bed, almost tripping over a stack of books on the floor. Behind you, your grandmother could only look at you with a bemused expression on her face before she shrugged and continued to clear out your table for you.
“That child… When will she learn?”
For the longest time, it had just been you and your grandmother. While both your parents worked overseas, they entrusted you into your grandmother’s care ever since you were little. You didn’t see your parents very often except for the occasional video and phone calls you would have with them but that was about it. They weren’t usually very present in your life and as much as you hated it, you knew it was necessary for them to do so in order to support both you and your grandmother though over the years. All in all, they might not be very good parents but what they did was necessary to keep the home afloat.
Within a record timing of 7 minutes, you were dressed albeit haphazardly with your shirt barely ironed and hair still somewhat messy and bolting out the front door with a piece of lightly charred toast in your mouth. The bus would have left about 10 minutes ago so you had no choice but to take your bike. The thing was rusty, collecting dust as it sat unused in the garage but you paid it no mind.
Cycling down the street, the chilly wind from the heavy storm the night before that lapped against your face cleared off any traces of sleepiness you still had in you and you could feel your cheeks beginning to sting a little as the cold bit into your skin. Maybe this was why you overslept. Storms were always the best kind of weather to sleep in. Up in the skies, there were still overcast clouds that loomed over the earth and the smell of rain and freshly mown grass hung in the air as you rode on. Rainwater sloshed against your shoes and socks as your wheels rolled past puddles and you couldn’t help but wish you were back in bed.
Every day, the one thing you always looked forward to was the precise moment where you would flop into your warm, soft and inviting bed and proceed to delve into a deep, dreamless slumber. Sleep was truly the love of your life and a much needed break from school. As you entered the premises and parked your bike, the first thing you noticed was how spruced up the campus was.
Glittery streamers were draped everywhere, with bundles of balloons taped on trees, pillars and walls. Among the trees, the decoration committee also had the idea of hanging up fairy lights and they must have forgotten to switch off the power supply because as you walked by, the lights were still flickering. The lights made the school seem so much brighter despite the gloomy weather. As you approached the double doors to the hallways, you found yourself staring up at a huge, paint splattered banner that hung from above.
Creker High ‘REVEAL YOUR INNER STAR’ Prom.
You didn’t even cast it a second glance before walking in.
“A week in advance? Isn’t that a bit too early?” You mumbled under your breath.
You never were interested in prom or school dances. While many were trying to find a date for the dance in these past few weeks, you were largely unbothered, preferring the solace of your own room and surrounding yourself with books and papers. As your classmates were discussing dates and outfit ideas, you were reading and doing homework and when everyone began to sign up for committee roles in organising the prom, all you were concerned about was going home much to the frustration of your friends.
In a way, you never did see proms and school events as something worth your notice. Academics were what you were really interested in.
Just then, you realised that the hallways were almost empty. Were you so tired that you failed to notice? Blinking, you turned and observed your surroundings. There were a couple of students scattered along the hallway but it was far from the teeming throngs of students that would fill up the hallways at 8am in the morning. Smacking your forehead, you almost wanted to kick yourself.
Of course. School was supposed to start later on Fridays and being the careless person you were, you had forgotten. Now, what do you do with an hour to spare before classes start?
You thought of the geography report you had in your backpack. You could possibly pay the library a quick visit to find some books on the topic you were supposed to write about but did you really want to spend the one hour you had free studying when you could be sleeping? The classrooms must be empty at this time, so if you really wanted to take a quick nap, you would be undisturbed. Though, there was also the option of going to the football field outside to relax and listen to some music. There is a chance the football team might be there early today to practice and you could watch them while you’re at it.

I'm doing okay at the moment, I've been able to get a lot of stuff done for uni the past week and now I'm a bit in recharge mode (and hoping I can continue reading the book I've started) because while I did have enough energy to get everything done, it still exhausted me a bit, so now I'm trying to take it easy a bit before I get the next chunk of work done :D

#ask#juyeonzz✨#mutuals💞#i've also managed to meet and call some friends again the past two weeks#i've been isolating myself for most of the year and while that usually doesn't bother me since I'm introverted and love being alone#i suppose i've been doing it to an extreme this year and it negatively affected my health#i think i was very disconnected from reality and lived mainly in my head#and through being practical for uni and talking and meeting my friends again#i feel much more grounded and back in the real world again so that's great🥰🥺
