🥺 dean forever the self loathing one, glad to see that he got something good 💙🩷
Heart Of Stone
Tumblr media
Dean x reader
Word Count- 1630
Warnings- Angst, Self-loathing Dean (yes, that's a warning 😂), A little fluff
A/N- This fills my "Unexpected Touch" square for @jacklesversebingo
Dean woke with a start, his body and pajamas drenched in sweat. Another nightmare, another sleepless night. You’d think with everything he’s seen in his life, he’d be used to them. But, he has to take deep breaths and try to still his racing heart every time, ground himself to keep from panicking. He hates it. Hates how, after all these years, his fears still plague him.
This dream was different than the usual nightmares. It wasn’t the faces of all the people he couldn’t save or the monsters that had tried to end him. No, this one was worse. It was about her, and those are the worst. He can handle the trauma that comes with his job and take the guilt and sadness that comes with it, calm himself, and push it down. But, when it comes to the nightmares about her, he can’t.
Y/N had carved her way into his heart the last few months, whether he wanted her to or not. She meant so much to him. Just the thought of her smiling face or the brightness in her eyes when she spoke to him always calmed his nerves. Hell, who’s he kidding? She soothed his soul. But she would never know that. She couldn’t. Dean wasn’t the kind of man that deserved a woman as good as her. As much as he wanted to be selfish, open himself up to her, let her in, and let her start to heal him, he wouldn’t. She didn’t deserve to be dragged down by his self-loathing, insecurities, or the inevitable misery that would come with being with him. No, as much as he wanted to be a man she deserved, a man worthy of her love, he wasn’t and never would be. So, as with everything thing else, he’ll push his feelings down and bury them deep.
As he sat on his bed, back against the headboard, his mind swirling with all the negative thoughts, a soft knock on his door made him jump. He would know that sound anywhere. It was Y’N’s knock. Yes, he had it so bad for her that he could differentiate her knuckles on his door from everyone else’s. He sighed, running his hand down his face, and tried to calm himself before she entered his room.
“Come in,” his shaky voice echoed through the silence.
“I thought I heard you scream. Are you okay?” she asked as she peeked around the door. Her hair falling around her face out of her messy bun made him smile softly. Damn, she was beautiful.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m good.”
“Why don’t I believe you?” she smirked, walking into the room and putting her hand on her hip.
He knew he wouldn’t be able to lie to her. She always saw right through him, which made her more endearing and infuriated him simultaneously. He took a deep breath and exhaled loudly, pinching the bridge of his nose. She wasn’t going anywhere, so he might as well tell her the truth. Well, half-truth. She didn’t need to know that he had a nightmare about her. How he had allowed himself to have her, just to watch her die bloody.
“I had a bad dream. Nothing to worry about. You can go back to bed.”
“Dean…” she sighed, walking over to sit beside him, taking his big hand in hers, “You do know you can talk to me. You don’t always have to go through everything alone. It’s okay to let someone be there for you every now and then.”
“I know, but I’m fine. Honestly,” he smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes, the tell-tell crinkles by his eyes not there. She knew he was faking it, and she wasn’t leaving until he talked to her. He was always there for everyone he cared about, shouldering the majority of everything, and he deserved to be cared for this time.
“Let me take care of you for once. You don’t have to be the tough guy all the time,” she whispered, reaching up to cup his cheek in her small hand, caressing it with her thumb as her other hand entwined with his.
His breath caught in his throat, heart racing, as he stared at her. The unexpectedness of her soft touch had surprised him, thrown him off guard, and he was frozen. His head and his heart were in a battle with each other. His mind telling him to back away, to leave now, and to end it before it can go any further. On the other hand, his heart screamed at him to stay, pull her to him, kiss her, and tell her how much he loved her. Casting his eyes down, he tried to decide whether to run or remain where he was when she spoke.
“Dean, look at me,” she pleaded, and when he didn’t look up, she slid her hand from his cheek to his chin, lifting his face to look him in the eyes.
“Y’N, don’t, please,” he whimpered, his willpower slowly chipping away as she stared at him, the longing in her eyes breaking his heart. Because all he wanted was her, to take her in his arms, but he couldn’t. She deserved so much more than a man like him could ever give her.
“No, Dean, you don’t. If I’m wrong, please correct me, but I’ve seen how you look at me. How your eyes follow me when I’m in the room, the longing in them when you think I’m not looking. I know this because that’s how I look at you. If you haven’t noticed, I want you, and I think you want me too,” she admitted, her voice trembling with the anxiousness of how he would respond. She doesn’t know if she can handle his rejection.
“It doesn’t matter what I want.”
“Yes, it does, Dean. It matters just as much as what everyone else wants. You deserve happiness, too.”
“I’m not a good man, sweetheart-” he began to speak, but she cut him off.
“That’s bullshit! You’re the best man I know!” she shouted, her frustration with his self-doubt spilling out.
“It’s not. You want the truth? I hate what I see when I look in the mirror; hate the man that’s staring back at me. You see these hands?” he lifted his hands, turning them around for her to see, “They’ve killed people, Y/N. There’s a dark side to me. You’re telling me that’s a man you want to be with? Because you deserve more, so much more.”
“Dean…” she whimpered, his words breaking her heart. How could he not see what everyone else sees? “First, you don’t get to decide what I want or deserve. And second, you want to know what I see when I look at you? I see a man who raised his little brother to be an incredible man. I see a man who puts everyone above him, no matter what, always putting himself last to make sure everyone else is taken care of. And these hands, all I see are hands that are cut, calloused, and scarred because he puts himself in danger daily to make sure others are safe, people who will never even know what he sacrifices for them. I don’t see that as a bad man,  Dean. I see a man who deserves more than he will ever believe he does, and if you will let me, I want to be the one to prove it to you. You’re an amazing man, Dean. Please stop selling yourself short of what you want, and especially what you deserve. And that Dean Winchester is the world, and I want to give that to you.”
“I can’t, Y/N. I can’t. What if something happened to you because you were with me? What if my nightmares come true?” he choked on his words, the thought of losing her bringing tears to his eyes.
“Is that what you dreamt? That something happened to me?” she asked softly, placing her hand back on his cheek. He nodded as he leaned into her touch, finally allowing himself to feel and enjoy how her palm held him just right as a tear finally escaped and rolled down his face.
“That’s why I can’t. I couldn’t make it if something happened to you.”
“Dean, something could happen to me going to the grocery store, a hunt, or I could slip and crack my head open taking a shower,” she chuckled.
“That’s not funny,” he grumbled, turning further into her touch.
“It’s the truth. Anything could happen to either of us at any time. So, why would you let that stop us from having what we want? Why not enjoy what time we do have together?”
“I don’t know how to be in a relationship, Y/N. The one time I tried, it blew up in my face.”
“Then how about we learn together? We’ll take it slow. Learn how to let go of our fears, the things we can’t change, and love each other the way that works for us,” she smiled, leaning in to gauge his reaction, and when he didn’t pull away, she pressed her lips to his in a gentle kiss. A kiss to let him know that she was and would always be there and would take care of him how he deserved to be.
And that night would be the beginning of something wonderful that he had never thought he could ever have. A relationship with a woman who loved him for him and accepted him and all his flaws. Over time, she had done what he thought was impossible. She had broken through and shattered the walls he had around what he thought was a heart of stone.

SERIES MASTERLIST || DEAN WINCHESTER MASTERLIST
Chapter 1 || Chapter 3
Tumblr media
It had been six months since that day. Six months since you’d lost Leah and Seth. Six months since meeting the Winchesters. Six months since Dean had told you to get out after a week.
You were still here.
You weren’t sure if Sam had managed to convince Dean to let you stay or if Dean just hadn’t had the heart to throw you out on your ass but a week passed, and then two, and now you were on your sixth month.
You hadn’t been idling either. By the second week, you’d started helping Sam with research because as he said, it was the fastest way to learn about all the different kinds of lore. Within that same week, Dean had taken you out to teach you how to shoot. You still smiled when you remembered how his eyebrows ticked up when you’d fired prefect shots. “I was the best shot in the academy.” You told him triumphantly.
You’d pulled your weight and Dean seemed to have relented although he didn’t say much. Sam had cleared out a room for you and you’d forged a pretty good partnership and friendship with the brothers.
After staying back for research for the first month and a half, Sam had pushed for you to go on a hunt with them. Dean hadn’t responded, merely closing the door to the Impala. You’d hesitated until he wound down his window. “You coming or what?”
You still remembered that first time you felt it, a sense of belonging. You hunted with them, you ate with them, you got to come home back to the bunker with them. And you’d be eternally grateful to them for that. Eternally.
Sam walked in with his laptop at that moment, snapping you out of your thoughts. “Hey, I think I got something.”
You nodded, pushing aside the papers strewn across the table that was full of research on demons. Sam gave you a look but didn’t pursue it, instead putting the laptop down on the table.
“We’ve got people vanishing into thin air here.” Sam said, showing you the articles as Dean walked in.
“We got a case?” Dean asked, heading towards the both of you, leaning above you to read the screen, squinting. “You sure this is up our alley?”
Sam pointed. “I think it’s worth checking out.” He paused, “Look, we’re not really heading anywhere with... Let’s just check this out. A case is a case."
Dean nodded. “Alright, we’ll head out in ten.” He eyed the papers on the table before smiling at you. “You good?”
You smiled back at him and nodded.
Dean had intrigued you from the first moment you met him. He’d been a little harsh with his words sometimes, but it hadn't lasted. He’d always struck you as someone who cared deeply about others and you weren't sure when it had begun, but Dean had considerably softened with you.
Sometimes when you watched Dean and Sam’s interaction, it made you miss Leah and Seth so much that you had to tear your eyes away from them.
You looked up to where Sam and Dean were already bickering in the front seat of the Impala now and reached for the tablet to take your mind off anything else.
“Y/N, what do we have?” Dean called, looking at you through his mirror.
You smiled. A part of you knew that he was just asking you to involve you in the case and it was cute that they made such an effort.
“So this guy, Samuel Ross.” You flipped through the papers strewn across the backseat. “He went for a hike and he just disappeared.”
Dean furrowed his brow. “Disappeared, like...?”
You shrugged. “Like no one’s heard back from him for a week.”
Sam looked at Dean. “Doesn’t this remind you of that case at Blackwater?”
Dean just nodded, turning his eyes back towards the road without saying anything.
“Blackwater?” You asked a little cautiously. You were always a little careful about asking questions, just in case.
Sam turned his body slightly towards you and nodded, launching into the story. You liked it when Dean or Sam, usually Sam, told you about their old hunts. You felt like you learnt new things with every story that they told, although Dean said that was impossible since you had to be out on actual hunts to learn new things.
Tumblr media
“Ranger Rory Allen.” Dean flashed his badge. “My partners Jacob Cole and Ava Patel.”
The park ranger on duty frowned. “HQ sent us.” Sam added quickly, as both of you showed your badges as well.
“Why would HQ send another three rangers?”
Dean and Sam looked at each other. “HQ’s concerned about the missing people.” You spoke, as Dean gave you an alarmed look. You ignored him and continued, “Samuel Ross isn’t the only one missing, is he?”
The ranger looked at you, his expression changing to a sheepish one. “HQ doesn’t miss anything, huh?”
Dean flashed you a thumbs up from behind his back and you had to stop yourself from smiling, working to keep a straight face.
Sam and Dean sat down and asked questions as you looked around the room, studying the map that was pinned up in the room.
“I think that’s all the questions we have for now. We’ll head out tomorrow to start a search party of our own.” Sam stood, nodding at you.
“Do you have a copy of this map?” You asked, pointing.
You walked out of the ranger’s office, Sam and Dean leading the way. You were already holding the copy of the map you’d asked for.
“That was freaking smooth in there, Y/N.” Dean commented, giving you a wide smile.
You grinned back. “Told you I can be an asset.”
“Told you she’s a natural.” Sam chimed in.
Tumblr media
The next morning, the three of you had an early start, heading straight for the trail. You’d spent most of the night committing the map to heart so that the three of you weren’t slowed down by having to refer to it.
You paused at the line of the first trees. This was the first time you were coming anywhere near a forest since that night. Your eyes traced the skyline, the tops of the trees gently blowing in the wind.
“Y/N, you coming?” Sam asked.
You didn’t respond.
“Hey.” Dean’s hand was on your back now, his green eyes trying to read you. Your eyes flicked to his. “You want to sit this one out?” He asked gently.
You shook your head. “No, I’m fine. I just… I just need a moment.”
You couldn’t back out now. The boys were counting on you and besides, you couldn’t be dead weight. Not after everything they’d done for you.
“Let’s go.” You announced, tearing your eyes away from the trees. You’d be fine if you just focused.
Dean looked like he was about to say something but nodded as you picked up your steps to catch up with Sam.
Dean watched you jog to catch up with Sam. Anyone else who met you wouldn’t have known or guessed the circumstances you’d been forced into, they’d never have known this girl with sparkling eyes had seen or experienced things anyone else couldn’t have dreamed of.
Dean furrowed his brows a little, worried. You hadn’t given yourself a chance to grieve, to properly process the fact that you’d lost all your family members in the matter of a few months. Dean knew what it was like, of course he did. Whether it be the first time he felt Sam grow limp in his arms, or the time that he literally watched Sam fall into Hell, he knew. He knew what it meant to be the older sibling and feel like you’d failed your younger ones. But above all, Dean knew the desperation of wanting to bury those feelings. So he'd never broached the subject with you, just watching you carefully and making sure he was close by.
“You coming?” Sam asked, cocking an eyebrow.
Dean cleared his throat and moved, heading towards you and Sam. You knew his eyes lingered on you but you didn’t say anything, waiting until he caught up before the three of you headed deeper into the woods.
Tumblr media
“Do you really think it’s a wendigo?” You asked Sam, as you looked around.
You weren’t new to hiking or even camping. Your dad had loved it, he’d been taking you guys out to treks and mountains since you were kids. And you’d always been proud of the fact that you knew how to survive outside. Or so you thought.
You swallowed down the thought and turned your head up towards the sky. You’d been in here for hours, you could already see the color of the sky start to change.
“Where the hell did he set up camp?” Dean almost growled. His patience had been teetering for a while so you weren’t surprised.
“He had a few days start.” You reminded Dean, as you spotted something between the trees. “Guys?” You pointed.
To anyone else, it might have looked like a wild animal had trampled through the campsite, but new as you were to hunting and the whole ‘monsters are real’ thing, you could tell this was no animal.
You took your gun out. It had been a gift from Dean after you’d shown them what a natural you were with a gun.
After being satisfied that there was nothing still lurking around the campsite, you tucked your gun into your pants and looked around at the carnage. There was a patch of blood-stained grass and an obvious tear in the fallen tent.
“This was no wild animal.” You muttered.
Dean nodded, suddenly swiveling his head towards the trees.
“Dean?” Sam asked.
Dean put his hand up.
The three of you listened. There was definitely something. Something that sounded suspiciously like a growl.
“Alright, let’s get out of here first. We have no freaking idea what we’re dealing with. Y/N, do you know…”
You nodded, glad you’d taken the time to memorize the map. “Come on.” You led the way out, picking up the pace as you headed deeper into the forest.

Tumblr media
You ducked behind a tree, panting and looking around. Your hands were shaking even as your fingers closed around the holster of the gun you were holding.
Just a few months ago, you were just a normal family, with normal problems. You’d fought about stupid mundane things and in the space of one night, your life had shattered before your very eyes.
Monsters were real.
Those three words had resounded in your mind as you took off into the night with your sister, leaving your parents lying in a pool of their own blood, their eyes open and lifeless as your own little brother stood above them, his eyes black as charcoal.
You should have known something was wrong. Your brother had been weird for weeks, you’d just thought it was nothing, that he’d been in one of his fantasy play-pretends and you’d gone along with it. But it hadn’t been nothing.
“We’re only alive because you made it through the police academy.” Leah had repeatedly reminded you over the past few months, as the both of had tried to pick up the pieces but you knew it was useless, at least for you. You’d tried to get the both of you back into as normal a life as you could but it was like the attack had set a homing beam on the both of you, you’d run into supernatural creatures almost everywhere you’d turned.
Just like that, you and Leah had found yourselves stuck in a world that you’d never even known existed - full of spirits, monsters, creatures that had only existed in fantasy novels before that night. So you’d adapted and tried to learn as much as you could - about demons, possession, creatures in the dark, while you tried to piece together what had happened that night, that night that changed your life forever.
Now, three months later the demon had caught up to you and Leah, almost like it was playing a game of cat and mouse with you.
“Heard you were looking for me?” It sounded like your baby brother but it wasn’t. Not those charcoal black eyes or the curl of his lips. It wasn’t him.
You’d lost Leah in the mayhem and you sat panting, pressing your back against the tree trunk.
“Leah!” You hissed into the dark forest where the both of you had ended up, the demon hot on your heels.
You could feel the fear seep into your bones. You weren’t sure if you were more afraid for yourself or for Leah. Maybe both.
You climbed to your feet, taking a deep breath before you felt someone grab you.
You struggled, only making out the figure of a man standing in front of you. You could feel his large calloused hands on your skin as he put a hand over your mouth, his other hand looped around your back.
“We’re here to help, okay?” He whispered.
You blinked back at his green eyes and nodded as he quietly let you go. “Listen, I’m Dean. This is my brother, Sam. We’re here to help, alright? Are you alone?”
In any other situation, you might have noticed how gently he spoke, or how kind his eyes looked but you shook your head, almost feeling tears pooling in your eyes. “My sister…”
He exchanged a glance with the man he's introduced as Sam and nodded. “Alright, I want you to stay here…”
“Dean.” Sam interrupted, throwing his brother a look. “We’re in the middle of a forest.”
Dean nodded. “Right. Stay close, alright?”
You moved through the forest now. Dean and Sam looked like they knew what they were doing as you followed them now, which made you feel a little more confident. You just needed to find Leah. If you could find Leah, everything would be okay.
“Wait.”
You could feel the blood run cold in your veins. “No…”
You saw her now, lying in the middle of a small clearing, bathed in the moonlight. “Weren’t you looking for me?”
Your brother’s voice sent your blood curdling in your veins and you could feel the tears as you almost gasped for breath.
You watched almost in disbelief as Dean and Sam tucked their guns back into their pants. “What…” Were they a part of this whole thing all along?
Dean glanced back at you. “Guns aren’t going to work.” Almost as if he felt the need to explain to you what was going on, as Sam gawked at his brother like he couldn’t believe he was wasting time on this.
Sam pulled out a long knife, as did Dean.
“Now, now, boys. Play nice. You kill me, you kill poor little Seth.” The demon drawled.
Your heart gave a little twist. “Seth…”
Dean stepped forward, his knife held out in front of him like he hadn’t even heard anything the demon had said.
“My work here’s done. See you around kids.” He sneered before Seth’s head was thrown back and a gust of black smoke billowed out his mouth and up into the trees, Seth crumpling onto the floor, his body lifeless now.
You ran, shoving past Dean and Sam straight for your siblings.
“Leah!”
There was blood everywhere, across her mangled chest that looked like it had been clawed apart. “No, no… please… no…”
Leah’s eyes fluttered open and she smiled up at you.
“Leah, no…” You muttered, more to yourself than to her.
Leah grasped at your hand and smiled. “You live.” She whispered. “You don’t ever give up, you hear me?”
Tears were already blurring your vision. “You can’t… Leah, I only have you left. I can’t… Don’t…”
“I love you, Y/N.”
Those were the last words Leah ever said to you before the life left her body. You were shaking, but you turned to go to Seth when Dean held a hand to your shoulder and shook his head.
“But we didn’t…” You couldn’t understand it. The demon had definitely said that Seth would die if you killed it but you hadn’t killed it. None of you had.
Sam raised his head from where Seth lay. “I’m sorry.”
“No…” You lowered your head, feeling the grief overwhelm your body. You were literally all alone in this vast world. You had no one left in this world that had gotten ten times scarier than before.
“Hey, come on. We’ll help you.” Dean’s voice was in your ear.
They helped. Even though you didn’t know them, even though they didn’t even know your name, they carried your brother and sister to the outer edges of the clearing. You didn’t absorb everything Dean was telling you about what they called a hunter’s funeral, as they covered their bodies and lifted them onto a wooden platform they’d made.
You watched as they lit the fire, nodding to yourself as you talked to yourself in your head, turning everything over and over. But nothing was made clearer.
Dean glanced at you before he looked back at Sam. He wasn’t sure what it was about you that was tugging at his heartstrings but he couldn’t just leave you here.
“Hey, listen, is there anyone I can call?” Dean gently touched your arm.
You looked up at him, your eyes pooling with tears as you shook your head. “Everyone’s dead.” You whispered. “Seth… Leah… everyone…”
“Okay, okay, what’s your name?”
“Y/N.” You answered back, like a reflex.
Dean nodded, “Alright, Y/N. Let’s get you out of here first alright?” He moved to block the fire from your view now.
You looked up at him before your eyes rolled into the back of your head and you slumped forward.
Tumblr media
You woke to find yourself in a room and you sat up with a jerk.
“Woah, woah. It’s okay, you’re okay.” Dean held his hands out towards you.
“Dean…?”
Dean smiled a little and nodded.
“Where am I?” You asked.
Sam stood from where he was sitting in a corner of the room. “You passed out, probably from shock. It’d be hard to explain to the hospital staff what happened and we didn’t know where else to take you so you’re at our place.”
“You feeling okay?” Sam asked.
You shrugged. “Physically, yes. I didn’t get hurt.”
Dean and Sam helped you out of bed and showed you out of the room and into the hallway, leading you down into another room that resembled a library and meeting room smashed into one.
The brothers exchanged a look as you sat down and Sam cleared his throat. “I know you’ll have a lot of questions but before that you’re in our place so I’m sure you’ll understand if we have our own questions.”
You nodded absentmindedly.
You weren’t sure how long the three of you sat there, talking. You told them selective things about you, about what had happened, about Leah and about Seth. In turn, the Winchesters told you about the demon. They’d been tracking him for a while. All they really knew was that it was a demon called Corson and that he’d been doing this for a while. A demon.
You took this all in, your expression not changing.
“Why?” You asked.
Dean sighed and shrugged. “We don’t know either. There isn’t a clear pattern to anything this son of a bitch does. That’s why it’s so hard to track him.”
“So you guys are hunting him?” You asked, looking from Dean to Sam.
Sam nodded.
“I want in.”
Dean looked at you and looked like he was seriously considering it for a moment before he shook his head. “No, it’s too dangerous.”
You gave him a pointed look. “I’ve done dangerous.”
“That was barely the tip of the iceberg.” Dean snapped. “This will change you.”
“I’ve already changed. Everything has changed.” You answered, although your voice was low now and you didn’t look up at him. “I don’t have anywhere to go.”
“You can stay until the end of the week. But you have to find somewhere else to be.” Dean said, matter-of-factly before he walked out of the room, not even waiting for your response.
Tumblr media
“Dean.” Sam caught up to his older brother. “You know, I can empathize with her.”
Dean looked up at Sam.
“Dean, come on. Look at what demons did to our family.”
Dean gave Sam a pointed look. “And look where that’s got us. A lifetime of hunting evil sons-of-bitches. We’ve died more times than I can count, and that’s not even to mention the people we’ve gotten killed.”
Dean bit the inside of his cheek as he paused.
“I’m not ruining her life. Or getting her killed.”
Sam sighed but knew it was useless arguing with Dean. He turned back in your direction, he could just see the slight sagging of your shoulders as you sat at the table and sighed again. He knew Dean was right, that it’d be safer if you stayed out of senseless revenge fighting.

A Vacation: Dean Winchester x f!Reader (Part 2)
Tumblr media
Warnings: Fluff, slight angst?, mentions of sex/sexual themes
Words: 6.6k
Synopsis: Dean takes you to the beach...
I caved and ended up making this long. Oh well, I hope you all enjoy, I'll try to write more Dean fanfics in the future
Part 1
A small sigh left your mouth as you stared at your computer screen. You were back home in the bunker on your bed looking at beach rentals again just to torture yourself.
You had just gotten back from the hunt but the thought of the beach hadn’t left you. In fact, they were more prominent as you remembered how Sam and Dean didn’t seem too fond of the idea.
They were right. There was no time to go on vacation and there was no way you’d be able to pull it off with the few hundred dollars you had. If you really wanted to go, you would have to save up for a few years just to rent the house.
You could just use a motel, but you wanted to splurge since you never got to.
Maybe you’d be able to go one day.
You closed your laptop and left your room. It was best if you didn’t spend all of your time in your room lamenting over it. You were given a small break since no one wanted to go back out hunting so soon, so you decided you would enjoy hanging around the ones you loved.
“Y/n.” Cas greeted from behind you a few feet down the hallway.
“Oh, hey!” You turned around and gave him a smile as you waited for him to walk up beside you. “What’s up?”
“What kind of sunscreen would you get if you were out in the sun for long periods of time?” He wondered with a serious look on his face which made you raise an eyebrow.
That was an odd question but then again Cas was a little odd. Even if he’d been on earth for quite a while now, he still had that angel charm that made him stand out. You wouldn’t have it any other way though. He was your friend and you would never change anything about him.
“It depends on how long you’re going to be out in it but I’d say 100 SPF or 50 SPF.” You explained and he nodded.
“Thank you.” He gave you a quick smile and went to walk past you but you stopped him.
“Why?”
“No particular reason. I think it’s good for one to protect their skin from the sun to limit the risk of getting skin cancer.”
You stared at him with knitted eyebrows but didn’t press him any further. Instead, you watched him walk past you towards the entrance of the bunker with confusion as you tried to think up of the reason why he was interested in sunscreen.
Someone must’ve said something that made him think about it. It was probably Jack. Since the kid hadn’t been around on earth for very long, he still had a lot of questions and something had to have come up for him to tell Cas.
You hoped he hadn’t gotten sunburnt or if he did it wasn’t too bad. Could he even be sunburnt? You weren’t sure but you wanted to find him and ask if he was okay. This would be the first time it’s happened to him and he would most likely need someone to tell him it would be okay.
You searched through the bunker but there was no sign of him anywhere. You weren’t panicked, but you did feel a little sense of urgency to make sure he was at least not freaking out.
Maybe he was in the kitchen.
When you entered the kitchen, Sam and Dean were at the table with lunch in front of them. They were in the middle of talking about something you didn’t catch, but they went quiet when they noticed you.
“Hey, Sam made lunch.” Dean gestured to the plate of food on the counter for you. “If you like rabbit food.”
“I’m telling you, if you keep eating the way you do you’re going to get a heart attack.” Sam argued with a huff.
You chuckled and shook your head. You weren’t particularly hungry but after you figured out where Jack was you wouldn’t mind trying what Sam made. As long as it was edible you didn’t care if it was healthy.
“Thanks. Do you guys know where Jack is?” You asked them and they both raised an eyebrow.
“No-”
“Hi, Y/n.”
Jack stood a few feet from you with a smile. You swore he had grown a few inches since you were gone those few days. He was in a good mood, which was a good sign even if he was regularly like that.
“Hey, kiddo.” You smiled and studied him. You couldn’t see any signs of a sunburn on his face, neck, or hands which meant he most likely didn’t have a burn anywhere else on his body.
“What are you doing?” He wondered curiously as you turned him around to look at the back of his neck.
“Cas was asking me about sunscreen and I was worried that maybe you had gotten a sunburn.”
“I am. If I had gotten sunburnt, it would have gone away quickly anyway.”
You smiled and nodded. You figured that his body would heal it before it became a problem but you had to make sure. The anxiety and guilt for not checking would’ve taken over your entire day and you didn’t want that to happen.
But now you were curious why Cas asked. If Jack wasn’t burnt and you assumed no one else was, then what other reason would he have to ask you about sunscreen.
“Do you know why Cas was asking about it?” You looked at Jack, Sam, and Dean for an answer.
Sam and Dean shook their heads, but internally Dean was panicking.
He had planned a surprise for you. It was going to be simple; he was going to show you a picture of the beach rental he managed to get through his knowledge of credit card fraud and when you asked him why he was showing it to you, he was going to reveal that’s where you all were staying. He’d watch you burst with excitement and become so happy you would smile at him, and maybe even hug him.
He had planned to do that later this evening to give you the entire day tomorrow to pack and get ready.
But he knew now that the surprise was ruined, especially when Jack opened his mouth, and now he was worried things were all going to fall apart.
“Did Dean not tell you about the surprise beach trip?” Jack wondered and tilted his head innocently.
Dean placed a hand over his face and kept his head down. If he could disappear he would to avoid this as he felt his entire upper half burn hot. He didn’t want to look up to see your reaction and it was a good thing he didn’t.
You raised an eyebrow and stared at the older Winchester. You still found the fact that he had been so hung up on the idea on the hunt weird and now Jack was talking about it as if something was actually going to happen.
Why would something after he had made it known it wasn’t possible? Was this a joke? Dean was known to pull jokes like that before and you weren’t sure if that was happening now or not, but you weren’t too happy.
“No, he didn’t.” You crossed your arms with a serious voice.
You hoped it wasn’t a joke. It was just a harmless idea, one that had been spawned because you had been nostalgic and wanted to have a break. If it was however, you wanted Dean to go ahead and say it now before your feelings got hurt more.
“Um, Jack.” Sam cleared his throat. “A surprise is meant to be kept secret from the person you’re surprising.”
“Oh,” Jack’s eyes widened and he looked at you seriously. “Forget what I said, there’s no surprise.”
Your eyebrows knitted together as you looked between all of them. You weren’t about to let this go one any longer, not when all four of them were in on it. Honestly you were a little hurt that Dean would go this far over something like a vacation.
“I get you don’t like the idea of a vacation, but messing with me about it is rude.” Your eyebrows were knitted together as you gave Dean a slight glare.
Dean’s eyes widened and his head shot up. This was going bad quicker and worse than he expected. He knew why you would come to that conclusion, he hadn’t been very open about the idea at first and then asked vague questions about it. But he wasn’t about to let that continue.
He hated when you were mad at him and this was the first time he had done something this big for someone. He didn’t want to screw this up.
“It’s not a joke.” He pulled out his phone and went to the email he got about the beach rental.
He stood up and held out his phone for you to take, his eyes never leaving you. He hated the way his palms were getting sweaty and he really hoped you would take the phone before it slipped from his shaky hands.
You gave him a suspicious look but took the phone. However your eyebrows knitted together and your arms fell to your side as you stared at the email. The longer you did, the more your stomach flipped and your heart raced.
“What is this?” You looked back up at Dean with confusion.
Dean swallowed hard and tried to play it cool. He cleared his throat and gave you his trademark smirk while he scratched the back of his head.
“The beach rental we’re staying at.” He explained and felt his stomach drop when your face dropped. “I found the website you were looking at last night and booked it before we hit the road.”
“Seriously?” You scoffed in disbelief.
“Yeah, seriously.”
You couldn’t believe it. Dean Winchester rented a beach house because you said something about it. He wasn’t asking those questions to make a joke, he had actually wanted to know what you wanted on a vacation.
The thought of him thinking of you alone made your chest warm and made you feel as if you were floating on cloud nine. But he had actually gone and done something that no one had done for you. He had planned to surprise you with it too.
You could kiss him. You wanted to, but you had to hold yourself back because that would make it awkward and that was something you didn’t want right now. Instead, you grinned and laughed. You pulled Dean into a bone crushing hug that he returned almost immediately.
The relief Dean felt almost made his knees buckle. His shoulders relaxed and he left out a silent sigh as he hugged you back. A smile stretched across his face when you bounced on the balls of your feet.
“I can’t believe it! You actually want to go to the beach?” You pulled back and looked at Dean.
“Yeah.” His heart skipped a beat when you became more excited. “A beer in one hand and toes in the sand doesn’t sound like a bad vacation to me.”
“Dean!”
You pulled him into another hug. This one was quick however because when you pulled away, you were already making a mental list of what needed to be done before you left.
Meal plans needed to be made, you needed to get better close suited for the hot weather. You also needed beach supplies like chairs and all that stuff but how were you going to transport that in the impala? No, that didn’t matter right now because you needed to get it first.
“Wait, when are we going?” You stopped and looked at Dean.
“A few days? We’ll be there for a week.” He said and your eyes widened as your stomach flipped again.
“A week? Dean, how the hell did you afford that?”
He didn’t really want to tell you. It wasn’t like you would be mad at him for the credit card fraud but telling you that made him feel…embarrassed. He didn’t have enough of his own money to get you what you wanted so he had to commit a crime. There was no other way and for the first time he felt a little shitty about it.
Just a bit.
“Actually, don’t tell me, it doesn’t matter.” You cut him off before he said anything but he was grateful. “We need to go shopping, I doubt any of us has a bathing suit.”
“You’re right about that.” Dean chuckled.
He watched as you excitedly urged Sam and Jack out of the kitchen while you raved on about what everyone needed to get. He went to follow after you when it struck him and he felt his body heat up.
You. At the beach. In a bathing suit.
Why that hadn’t even crossed his mind he didn’t know, but now that it was he couldn’t get the image out of his mind. His heart raced when he thought about your body being exposed to the sun without anything covering your skin except the suit. The water would drip off your skin and roll across it in places he wished his hands could touch.
Dean caught himself before he continued any further. As much as he wanted to feel your skin against his, he couldn’t allow himself to act on any of that. He just couldn’t.
Not when you were about to have your moment, your vacation.
He also would have to excuse himself and take care of business before he left to go shopping, which brought along the risk of you getting suspicious because why else would he be in his room for a few minutes longer than normal.
No, he would take care of that later tonight. Right now he wanted to be with you and maybe see what bathing suit you were going to pick out.
~
This was heaven.
Obviously not literally, but you were damn near close to it because of how relaxed you were and it was only the second day on vacation. You never thought you would’ve been able to hear the sounds of the waves hitting the sand again so the sound brought along extra comfort.
The waves would occasionally touch your skin as you knelt down on the sand. You had a small bag of sand castle making tools by you as you built one alongside Jack, giving him tips every now and then.
Not that he needed them really, he was natural at it. He had already built a castle that rivaled even your best ones in childhood, which wasn’t hard to beat, but he was still good at it.
“Nice job.” You said and he smiled. “You gonna dig a moat?”
“I think I might. It’ll catch the waves.” He began to dig one around his castle with his hands.
You smiled and dusted the sand off your hands. He seemed pretty occupied with playing in the sand which meant you could go off on your own. Not too far of course, since you didn’t want to leave him all alone.
“I’m going to see what the others are doing.” You told him and he nodded. “Don’t go into the ocean without telling one of us.”
“Okay!”
You walked up the beach towards the beach house.
It wasn’t very long before you saw Sam, Dean, and Cas relaxing in the sand a few hundred feet from the ocean. Sam sat under the beach umbrella with a book and Case sat under it while he watched the waves from behind his sunglasses.
Dean sat out in the sun on a chair. He had his head tilted back and his feet buried in the sand with a cold beer in his hand. His eyes were closed behind his sunglasses but he was fully awake as he listened to the waves.
He also felt like he was in heaven. He never thought that he would enjoy the beach this much but he was fully relaxed. This was unlike any vacation he had ever taken before because for the first time, he didn’t think about hunting.
Dean hadn’t thought about a monster in the 48 hours it’s been since you all got there and he was completely fine with that.
You made your way up to them and tried hard not to stare at Dean. You had seen him without his shirt a few times but nothing like this. He wasn’t wearing four different layers of shirts and instead was wearing nothing but swim trunks.
No shirt. Just slightly tanned skin and swim trunks that hung off his hip in a tortuous way that made you think some rather dirty thoughts. The image of what was below the hem of those shorts was plastered all over your mind and you quickly had to push them away as you approached them.
Dean perked up when he heard you. He gave you a smile which you returned as you grabbed a cold drink from the cooler. He was grateful for the sunglasses because they hid how his eyes checked you out when you bent over to pull out a water bottle.
Yeah, you looked really hot in a bathing suit.
“I don’t know why I didn’t suggest this sooner.” You hummed after you took a sip of the drink. “You guys seem right at home.”
“I agree.” Dean nodded and you smiled. “Who knew the sounds of the ocean were this relaxing?”
You chuckled and took another sip of your drink as you looked at the ocean. The waves were pretty calm and the water wasn’t too cold which made for perfect swimming conditions.
You had gone swimming earlier this morning and now you were itching to get back into the water. The only problem was that you had a rule about going into the ocean which was to always have someone go with you. It limited the risk of someone getting hurt or drowning and it was always more fun to be in the waves with someone else anyway.
You could ask Jack to go with you. He loved the water as much as you did, but he was busy playing in the sand and you didn’t want to pull him away from that.
A thought crossed your mind and you glanced at Dean. You hadn’t seen any of the Winchesters get in the water and the one that you could try to convince would be him.
Ever since a few days ago in that motel, you were able to convince him to do a lot of things. He was wearing just swim trunks when he had tried to wear a shirt with it, for one reason or another, when you told him that he would probably get too hot. That was all it took to convince him to go half naked.
“You been in the water yet?” You wondered as you set your bottle down in the sand.
“Uh, not yet.” Dean glanced at the waves and felt a pit form in his stomach.
Dean knew how to swim and he’d argue that he was a pretty damn good one, but the ocean was a lot different than a pool or a lake. There were waves, some that looked a little too big for his comfort, and currents that he couldn’t see.
It was much like his anxiety with flying…well a little more manageable than that but it was similar. He wasn’t sure if he would be okay if he went out into the waves and got carried out.
“Well, I feel like going for a swim? Wanna come?” You offered with a kind smile and Dean mentally cursed to himself.
How was he supposed to say no to that smile? To you?
Before he still had trouble saying no but he at least had some control over his brain when it came to certain things. Now that he knew how head over heels, wrapped around your finger, in love he was with you, all of his willpower to say no had been thrown out the window.
It was a little concerning. You weren’t forcing him, if you were he wouldn’t be having any of it, but the fact that it was you who was asking for things or to do things, he was so ready to do it in a heartbeat.
Love was doing weird things to him.
“I don’t know.” He shrugged and took a long sip of his beer to calm his nerves. “I think the ocean is for me.”
You were a little disappointed but that was okay. You wanted him to have fun and if not going into the ocean was how that was going to be achieved then so be it. You could always sit in the surf and dig for shells.
“Okay-”
“Let’s go.” Dean stood up and tossed his glasses on the chair.
Your eyebrows knitted together. That was strange and you weren’t sure if that was a good thing. You didn’t have time to say anything as he grabbed your hand to lead you to the water.
Dean didn’t mean to change his mind that quickly but the moment he saw that slight flicker of disappointment in your eyes, he panicked. He wanted this vacation to be perfect since it was your idea and if that meant going into the ocean then he’d get over it.
He might end up liking it if he got past the slight fear of it.
The ocean waves washed over your feet and your hand slipped out of Dean’s. You glanced at him to see that he was looking at the water with a clenched jaw. You gave him a sympathetic smile as he fidgeted with his hands.
“We can hold hands.” You suggested and his eyes widened when he looked at you. “I promise I won’t let go or force you to go very far.”
“I’m not a baby.” He grumbled and scratched the back of neck.
“The ocean is scary, why do you think I asked you to come with me?”
That made his heart swell a little more than it should. He wasn’t really sure why that made him proud but now he felt like he could conquer anything which was definitely not a good thing.
“Alright, show me how it’s done.” He grabbed your hand with a crooked smile that made you laugh.
“Don’t get too cocky, Winchester.” You wrapped your fingers around his hand tightly.
The water felt warm when you both waded out. When the waves would hit, Dean would squeeze your hand to make sure he still had a good hold. He was careful to watch what was in the water and to watch you as you guided him far enough to where the water reached his hips.
You let him get used to the water while you splashed each other occasionally. At some point you had moved up close to Dean, enough to where you both were practically holding each other, as waves hit.
It didn’t take long for Dean to feel comfortable to go further out. He was grateful that you were right there beside him to teach him how to dive through the waves and to keep himself from being pushed under.
He was also grateful that he got to hold your hand after every wave.
He was right. Now that he got over his fear of it, he really did like the ocean. Especially now when he saw you in every wave that hit the beach and knew he would be safe.
~
Your hand felt right at home in Dean’s. You were honestly surprised that he had reached out to hold hands before you did on your walk on the beach but you definitely weren’t complaining.
This was a lot considering Dean wasn’t really a touchy person. Sure he gave hugs when saying goodbye but holding hands? No, he didn’t really do that…well not until today that is. Something awoke in him when he held your hand earlier today and now all he wanted to was feel your hand in his.
“So, what are we going to do tonight?” You wondered out loud as you looked out at the evening sun.
“You know my answer.” Dean watched the waves before he looked at you with a smirk. “Whatever you want to do.”
“C’mon! This is as much of a vacation for you as it is for me.”
You were flattered that Dean and the others had given you full control of the plans on the vacation, but you felt a little bad about it. The entire idea of having them come along was for them to have fun and there was no way that was really going to be achieved if it was just you calling the shots. You wanted someone else to decide what to do and who better than the one who actually rented the house.
“I’m telling you, I’m fine with whatever you wanna do as long as you're happy.” He chuckled when you gave him a pout.
“Then you choosing what we do tonight will make me happy.” You declared and he rolled his eyes.
“Don’t play me like that.”
You laughed. Even if you were both joking around, you really wanted him to choose this time. You were honestly excited to see what he would say. Dean could come up with some pretty fun ideas if he put his brain to it.
“But seriously, come up with something.” You squeezed his hand and gave him an encouraging smile. “I’m down for anything.”
He had been truthful when he said that whatever would make you happy he’d be happy to do it, but he also had a few ideas. Namely, ideas that were a little more romantic than what friends normally did and he hoped you wouldn’t notice that.
Dean wasn’t sure what he’d do if you found out he loved you. Die probably. He didn’t want to think of the possible outcomes. What if you were disgusted by it or became so creeped out that you left? He would never forgive himself if that happened, he couldn’t lose you.
So the only thing he could do was pretend. Pretend that they weren’t romantic dates and that he didn’t love you with his entire being.
Unfortunately he was blind to the fact that you loved him just as much.
You watched as he scratched the back of his neck in thought. He had a lazy smirk on his face and you tilted your head with an affectionate smile. Sometimes you couldn’t help but wonder what was going on in his head since he rarely spoke about what was exactly on his mind.
This time however, you wanted him to.
“How about we check out the pier?” He gave you a sheepish smile but relief washed over him when you grinned.
“Yeah! They probably got some good food there.” You cheered and he grinned back.
“Then let’s go.” He took the lead and held firmly onto your hand.
He hadn’t even thought about the food and he just realized he was hungry. This would be a good plan as long as he kept his cool and didn’t let his feelings get the better of him.
~
“Jesus this is amazing.” You exclaimed around a mouthful of ice cream.
“Are you eating or having sex over there?” Dean took a bite of your shared ice cream with a smirk as you lightly punched him in the arm.
“Shut up!”
The two of you stood at the end of the pier with a plastic bowl of ice cream. Your voices carried across the air as there weren’t that many other people. The sun had gotten a little lower in the sky and created a golden glow across the surface of the water that reflected the clear sky.
Dean glanced at you as you stuck the spoon in your mouth to eat the ice cream. In this lighting you looked like a goddess. He always knew you were beautiful and he would fight anyone who disagreed, but lately he found himself being awestruck by you. There was just something about you that captivated him and made him have to take a few moments to take it in.
Even when you had a melted spot of ice cream on the corner of your lips you were beautiful and god did he want to kiss you in that spot now.
“I know we only just got here but thank you.” You said softly as you wiped your mouth and gave him a smile. “This…it means a lot to me.”
“It was nothing.” Dean nonchalantly shrugged but on the inside he was having the time of his life.
He had never felt so proud before until now.
“It is though.” You set the ice cream down and leaned on the railing of the pier. “I know it’s not easy for you to take breaks, so I’m really happy that you’re having fun.”
You were being honest. Even if you had wanted him to come along, you worried that maybe he wouldn’t be able to turn off his hunter instincts. It definitely would be stressful if he was looking out for a potential case instead of enjoying himself and you didn’t want that.
You really wanted him to see that there was a lot more to life than just hunting monsters and you hoped this did the job.
Dean scoffed and looked out at the ocean. You were right about your worries of course and he kinda hated that. Being able to relax like this gave him the time to reflect a lot on himself and he had to agree that taking breaks was like pulling teeth for him.
He wasn’t sure why he struggled with that and he wasn’t ready to unpack those problems just yet. But he had you to thank for even considering working on it.
“It was all you really.” He looked at you with affectionate eyes. “Just don’t expect me to be a beach bum because of this.”
“You’ve already got a tan!” You pointed out and he chuckled.
“I’m just adding onto my sex appeal.”
Dean smiled when you laughed. Now would be a good moment to kiss you or to ask you out on a proper date. It was like a scene out of a movie; the two main leads on the pier having a moment and then they fell in love with just one kiss. It would be perfect and he so desperately wanted to make it happen.
But he couldn’t. Not when you finished off the rest of the ice cream and not when you asked him what he wanted to do next.
‘I want to kiss you’. That’s what he wanted to do but his fear had a tight hold on him.
“Just walk on the beach.” His smile was sad but he tried to make it look normal. “We’ll take it slow going back.”
“Sounds good to me.” You tossed the ice cream bowl in the trash and grabbed his hand without asking.
You were making this so hard for him.
But on your end it was going great. Not only was the ice cream the best you ever had, the beach looked breathtaking and you got to spend it with your favorite person. It just proved your point that Dean could come up with good ideas and that he should do it more often.
You were also a little ecstatic that this was starting to feel like a date. You were sure it wasn’t intentional but you were getting romance vibes that were welcomed with open arms.
The atmosphere definitely helped with that as well.
The waves curled around your feet as you both slowly made your way back to the beach rental. A comfortable silence fell over you two as you listened and watched as the tide left.
Your eyes began to scan the sand. You could see pieces of broken shells scattered on top of it but you were searching for whole shells. It was fun to pick shells especially when you planned to find one for each of the boys because then it became a game.
So tell me,” You began and he raised an amused eyebrow. “What kind of shells do you like?”
“Shells?” His eyebrows knitted together and he looked at the sand with confusion. “I don’t know…I don’t have any.”
“Well you’re in luck, there’s always shells at the beach!”
You broke away from him and stepped over to a patch of broken shells. There were always good ones hidden within the fragments and if there wasn’t one suited for him there, then the sand closer to the waves had to have one. You bent over to look close as you gently sifted through the pieces with your fingers as you beckoned Dean to join you.
Dean came up beside you and mimicked your movements. He watched you carefully and began to search through the shells too. He wasn’t really sure what he was looking for but if you wanted to do this, he didn’t have any complaints.
There were tiny ones and a few good sized ones he could see. A lot of them were plain and looked to be part of a clam, but they held a sort of wonder to them as he picked them up to look at them. The ones that really caught his interest were the small spiral ones that looked like something may have lived inside.
He held one that was intact in the palm of his hand before he showed it to you.
“What about these?” He wondered, as if there was a right or wrong answer, but you smiled.
“The spiral ones are cool.” You stood up straight and scanned the sand near the waves.
Now that you had type in mind, you were on the hunt. Determination fueled your search and nothing was going to stop you.
Dean watched you with curiosity. He continued to hold the shell in his palm as he stood up with his eyes stuck on you as if you were the most interesting thing in the world. He noted how meticulous you were in combing through the sand and scoffed when he realized you didn’t put that much effort into cases sometimes.
He wondered if you would even need their help if you did. At that thought he hoped that you would never be this thorough with cases ever. He didn’t want to go on a case on your own ever again, not after you being gone for months with little contact.
You watched as your footprints and the small holes disappeared with the waves. It was possible you wouldn’t be able to find a shell that was worthy to give to Dean right now but you’d be damned if you didn’t try. You at least wanted to make sure you wouldn't miss any if there were any.
Just as you were about to give up, you saw a piece of white poking out of the sand. With a smile on your face, you dug your fingers in the wet sand and pulled out a good sized shell.
It had brown stripes on it and it was in pretty good shape with only a few chips in it. It was the perfect shell for Dean.
You hid it behind your back as you made your way back towards him. You couldn’t keep the smile off your face as you approached him and he looked at you with adoring eyes.
Dean knew you found something. He saw you pick it up but it was cute that you were treating it as if it was a surprise.
You were so goddamn cute.
“Mr. Winchester.” You tried to fake being serious but it wasn’t working. “Would you like a present?”
“Present? What’s the occasion?” He smirked as he leaned in close but was careful not to ruin the ‘surprise’.
“No occasion, just that I think you’re wonderful.”
You presented the shell out for him to see and take. Your heart thumped against your chest as you looked from the shell to him. You knew he would take it but it still made you nervous as he stared down at it with wide eyes.
He wasn’t upset, far from it, he was ecstatic. He was on cloud nine just from the fact that you called him wonderful and you were giving him a seashell that you just spent fifteen minutes to find. You made him feel so good, so full of life that he couldn’t take this anymore.
Dean didn’t care about the consequences right now. He needed you to know how much he loved you and if that meant turning you away so be it. He wouldn’t stop loving you if you left.
“Dean?” You looked at him with concern until he cupped your face with his hands.
Was this really about to happen?
“You make me feel a lot of things that I didn’t know I could feel.” He huffed as he looked you in the eyes. “I don’t know how to tell them to you but I need you to know.”
“Then show me.” You whispered as you leaned a little closer.
Dean closed the gap and the world disappeared.
There were a lot of things in his life that didn’t feel right but this was not one of them. Everything about your lips against his, how soft they were, how you kissed him back just as passionately, to the way you sighed.
He felt a weight lift from his chest. All of those stupid thoughts that kept him from doing this earlier meant nothing anymore. You were kissing him back like he was water in a desert.
You were also relieved. You never would’ve thought that the older Winchester would harbor these feelings for you. It just didn’t seem plausible, but as his lips moved against yours and his hands moved to your hips to pull you closer, you understood everything he couldn’t say.
You never expected him to say it out loud, not now anyway. That just wasn’t how Dean was but you knew it. Deep within your heart you knew that he loved you.
Dean Winchester loved you.
The both of you broke apart. You stared into each other’s eyes as you caught your breath before you both broke out into grins like idiots.
“Don’t know what I was worried about.” He chuckled softly as he kept you close.
“You were worried?” You wrapped your arms around his neck and gave him a gentle look. “Why?”
“I didn’t think you’d want me and I want you in my life so…”
He trailed off but you understood. You wanted to make sure that he knew you wanted him in your life and that you weren’t going anywhere. You were going to stay with him for as long as you could, just like you already have.
The only thing that was different was now you could do it while being openly in love.
Dean pressed a kiss to your forehead before he kissed you on the lips. He took his time as he gently bit your lip and explored your mouth with his tongue when you let him. His hands roamed down where he squeezed your ass which caused him to smirk when you gasped.
“You know,” He began as he moved his lips to your neck. “There’s something else we can do tonight.”
“Preferably in a place where sand won’t get stuck?” You smirked before you let out a breathless moan when he left marks on your neck.
Dean chuckled and he leaned back to look at you as he felt his heart swell. He definitely had never felt like this right before sex but god was it welcomed. He smirked as he pulled your body against his.
“Good thing we’re sharing a room.”

A Vacation: Dean Winchester x f!Reader (Part 1)
Tumblr media
Warnings: little bit of angst, fluff, mutual pining
Words: 3.7k
Synopsis: You want to take a vacation and Dean is going to make it happen...
I tried writing in 2nd pov for the first time so I hope it's good! There will be a part 2 soon I just couldn't put it all into one part bc I hate posting things that are super long on here.
Come back for the next part!
Part 2
Rain hit the windows of the cheap motel you, Sam, and Dean were staying at on your latest hunt. The smell of greasy diner food and beer filled the room but it didn’t bother you. You had gotten used to it over the years of hunting with the Winchester brothers and wouldn’t have it any other way.
You had missed when you went hunting on your own for a few months just to think about things. It had been difficult for you to come to terms with Jack and everything that came with him when he first arrived. During that time you really missed the brothers, mainly Dean, so knowing that nothing had changed in the routine when you got back was comforting.
Now things were better with Jack and you were starting to miss the boy too. You doted on him and everyone knew it. You were just another parent to him and he loved you just as much.
Which made you even more excited about your current fantasies.
You and Sam were sitting at the table looking at your laptops. You were supposed to be researching for this case but your mind had focused on something completely different.
You were looking at beach rentals. The idea had come to you when you were reminded of how Dean had made the off comment of taking a vacation to a beach somewhere. You weren’t sure if he had meant it seriously or not but it had sparked a nostalgic feeling in you.
And now you were curious if you could actually pull it off. Judging by the prices, there was no way that you could, but that didn’t stop you from hoping that it could happen.
The image of Team Free Will 2.0 at the beach made you smile. Everyone relaxed on the sand, listening to the waves without a care in the world and not a single monster in sight.
The perfect vacation.
“I’m coming up with nothing. What about you?” Sam sighed and brought you somewhat back to reality.
“Uh,” You glanced at the beach rentals on your page before you shook your head. “Nothing.”
You heard a groan and glanced at Dean.
He had been sitting on the edge of one of the beds eating after you took over researching for him. His eyebrows were knitted together and he took a long drink of his beer before he looked at us with disbelief.
“Does this ghost even exist?” He grumbled. “This thing kills people every year and barely anyone’s talking about it.”
He was starting to get antsy. All three of you had been on the case for three days too many without much progress. He was ready to get this over with so he could spend some actual time with you.
He had planned on it before you all were roped into this. He had expected you to not go since you had just gotten back, but you were more than happy to join them which he didn’t mind.
Any time spent with you made it worth it, he just wished it was in a different way.
Dean stood up from the bed when he realized his beer was empty. With a heavy sigh he made his way over to the fridge.
“If you thought ghosts didn’t exist, you wouldn’t talk about them either.” You pointed out but his eyes narrowed.
“Only an idiot wouldn’t believe in ghosts.” He mumbled as he opened the fridge.
You snorted and shook your head before you went back to your laptop. You were pulled back into your search in beach rentals, accidentally tuning out the two brothers as they spoke to each other.
“I mean there has to be something about it here.” Sam pushed his hair out of his face.
“We might have to check some files at the police station, me and Y/n can go?” Dean suggested and expected you to say something.
However you hadn’t because you were busy looking at a beautiful beach house right on the sand.
His eyebrows knitted together and he shut the fridge with a fresh beer in his hand. He looked over your shoulder and when he saw what you were looking at, he raised an eyebrow and stepped closer.
You never struck him as someone who wanted to rent beach houses.
“Beach rentals?” He wondered out loud.
Your eyes widened and you saw Sam give you a confused look before you hid your face behind the screen. You sent a quick look to Dean behind you and tried to hide the webpage with your hands.
“Why are you peeking over my shoulder?” You cleared your throat but Dean didn’t answer as he got closer to get a better look.
“Why are you looking up beach rentals?” He turned your laptop to get a better look before you could protest. “You don’t even like the beach.”
You placed your hands in your lap.
“I like the beach.” You said matter of factly.
Both of the brothers looked at you incredulously as if you had said something completely absurd. They had known you for years and practically knew everything about you since you were an open book or so they thought.
“Since when?” Dean looked at you and you raised an eyebrow.
You rolled your eyes.
“Since like four when my parents took me to the beach for the first time.” You explained and their expressions fell for a moment. “I enjoyed going there the times I could.”
“But that was decades ago now, why the sudden interest?” Sam wondered and you shrugged.
“I don’t know, it just came to my mind when I was thinking about a vacation.”
Dean’s face fell into confusion again. You also didn’t strike him as someone who wanted to go on vacation. Of course, all of you needed breaks from time to time so he wondered why you had gone with them if you really wanted a break.
“If you needed a break, you didn’t have to come with us.” He said and you sighed.
“I’m fine.” You assured him. “I was actually thinking about if we all went to the beach.”
Dean’s eyes widened slightly and he glanced at Sam. A vacation with all of them? The two of them had done that once but it didn’t last very long before they were called back into hunting. He wasn’t sure if that was a good idea.
Dean could see that Sam wasn’t exactly on board with the idea at the moment. You all had a case you were still working and at the rate you were moving at, who knew how long it would take.
“After this maybe we can find a case near the coast.” Sam suggested but you quickly shook your head.
“No, if we were to go, I’d want it to be a true vacation.” You stated firmly and his lips pressed into a line. “No hunts whatsoever.”
“Well, where would you get the money for it?” Dean looked at you and your face fell.
Though you had gone down this search knowing that it would never happen, having Sam and Dean not as interested hurt a little more than expected. You had hoped that maybe they would be since you all were dealing with a lot on your plate, but the two weren’t exactly ones to want to step away from hunting.
You took back your laptop and shut it before you stood up. You walked over to your bed before you set it on the mattress and then went for your bag. You sifted through your clothes and other items for your fake FBI badge.
Unfortunately your mood had been slightly ruined by their scruintity but now you were back into hunter mode which meant you would be more focused on the case.
“I don’t know.” You said absentmindedly as you searched. “It was just a thought.”
Dean’s face fell and his eyebrows knitted together as he watched you. When he saw the disappointment on your face, he looked at the ground and scratched the back of his neck while a pit formed in his stomach.
He hadn’t meant to put you off the idea but he just couldn’t really wrap his head around it.
Hunters didn’t take vacations. There was always somebody that needed saving so it was off the table. None of you exactly had the means to make it happen since hunting wasn’t a paid job.
But you looked happy when you were searching through the website so Dean had to fix that.
“Dean?” You called out to him again and pulled him out of his thoughts.
“Huh?” He looked up at you expectantly.
“If we’re going to the police station you need to change from lumberjack to federal agent.”
His eyes narrowed and you smiled. He didn’t say anything as he chugged the rest of his beer and tossed it in the trash while giving you a look.
~
The police station was quiet as you clicked through the files on the computer with Dean hovering over your shoulder. So far, there was still nothing on the ghost you were looking for even when you looked through the recent victim’s files.
It didn’t help that the computer was ancient and took nearly fifteen minutes to open one file.
You rested your chin on your hand while you waited for the next file to open, completely oblivious to Dean who was looking at you instead of the screen. You were slowly becoming more and more grumpy from the slow computer.
It wasn’t how he wanted to spend time alone with you, but at least now he had something else to think about other than the case since it was practically a dead end. With this newfound knowledge, he could get somewhere.
“So when you say the beach, you mean like the whole package?” He asked in a low voice to keep the quiet.
You raised an eyebrow and gave him your full attention. You weren’t sure why he was bringing this up all of the sudden and part of you really didn’t want to talk about it with him again.
“Whole package?” You questioned and he gestured vaguely.
“You know, sandcastles, big umbrellas, sand in places where it shouldn’t be.” He explained and you couldn’t help but scoff.
“I guess. If you want to put it that way.”
Dean nodded. He watched as you looked back at the screen when the file opened but he didn’t pay any attention to it as more leading questions filled his mind.
“What kind of beach rental?” He continued as he leaned on the desk.
“I don’t know. Something affordable but big enough for all of us.” You shrugged without looking away from the computer.
The beach wasn’t a concern to you right now. You were starting to get annoyed with how this case was turning out with all of it dead ends and Dean not helping was…well not helping the situation.
“Makes sense.” He mumbled to himself. “We could share rooms too.”
“Yep.” You huffed.
But Dean couldn’t focus on anything else. He wanted your idea to really work even if you both knew it wouldn’t happen. He barely noticed the annoyed look on your face as he leaned closer to you with his hands in his lap.
“What would we do?” He wondered and you placed a hand over your face. “I mean I know we’d hang out on the beach but would you want to do anything else?”
Your eyebrows knitted together as you studied the files. You could see a pattern in the victims now and the more you looked, the more prominent it became. How did you miss this before?
“I’d be up for getting authentic seafood if you want.” Dean continued and you tapped him on the hand.
“Dean.”
“I’ve never swam in the ocean before so I can try that.”
“Dean-”
“I’ll only get on a boat if I get to drive it-”
“Dean!”
You yelled a little louder than you wanted to which caught the attention of a few officers. You gave them a sheepish smile and a quick wave, trying to make them turn their attention away so you could show Dean then get out of there.
Dean’s ears turned a little red when he realized he had been rambling and ignoring you. He hadn’t meant for that to happen but he wouldn’t admit to you or anyone that he had got caught up in the idea of going to the beach with you.
Once the officers lost interest, you tugged him down closer so he could get a better look at the screen.
“I figured it out.” You said and he studied the screen for a moment. “Call Sam.”
“We’ll continue our conversation later.” He mumbled as he pulled out his phone and rushed out of the station.
You watched him disappear with knitted eyebrows. Why was he so hung up on going to the beach now? The case had been boring up until just a moment ago so there was no reason to continue it.
You shut down the computer and rushed after him.
It didn’t matter. Right now, you needed to get to the ghost before he killed another person.
~
Your muscles ached, specifically your back, as you shuffled into the motel room. You didn’t say anything as you flopped face down onto your bed with a long sigh.
The hunt was over. Finally.
After burning the body and then finding out that the body was not enough, the past however long it took you all to find the attached item had ended up with you a little bruised and tired. The ghost had managed to get a few good hits on all of you but luckily no one had died.
It was a successful hunt and now you didn’t have to sit staring at a screen for three days straight anymore. You couldn’t wait to be back at the bunker in your nice mattress instead of the crappy motel one.
The Winchesters walked in after you, also a little sore but they were in good spirits. They got the job done and compared to a lot of other ones in the past, it had been pretty easy.
Now that it was out of the way, Dean found he was a little excited to talk to you about the vacation you wanted again. He was ready to make it happen after having another close encounter with death.
That was until he saw you laying face down on your bed unmoving. At first he thought maybe you had been seriously hurt and he resisted the urge to force you to sit up so he could look you over for any wounds.
“You okay?” Dean wondered as he stared down at you.
“I’m tired.” Your voice was muffled as you spoke into the pillow. “And sore.”
He let out a silent sigh of relief before he smirked. He always found it cute how quickly you got tired after a hunt. You were an excellent hunter and an excellent sleeper. But that meant your talk would have to wait until the morning.
Unless…
“You want to shower first?” He asked and his smile grew wider when you perked up.
“Please?” You gave him and Sam puppy dog eyes even though you didn’t need to.
They always let you take a shower first unless one of them was absolutely covered in grime or blood.
“Fine with me.” Sam sat down on the edge of his and Dean’s shared bed.
“Thanks!”
They watched as you gathered your bag and rushed to the bathroom. When the door shut, Dean waited until he heard the water turn on before he grabbed your laptop and turned it on.
He had an idea. If he wasn’t going to be able to talk to you about it, why not take it into his own hands. This could be a good opportunity to do something nice for you, as a surprise rather than something completely planned.
You would like that. At least, he hoped you would but he would deal with it if you didn’t.
“What are you doing?” Sam’s wary voice cut through the silence.
“Seeing if that website is still on here.” Dean mumbled as he quickly searched through your history.
“You actually want to go to the beach?”
Dean didn’t say anything as he found the website and quickly searched it up on his phone. When he found the right one, he made sure to close out everything on your laptop and put it back where it had been like he hadn’t touched it.
He then walked over to the fridge and got a beer while staring at his phone.
There were some reasonably priced rentals on here, but none that were cheap enough with the money you all had combined. That wasn’t a problem anymore though. Dean didn’t mind breaking a few laws to get you the house that you wanted.
“We don’t even know if we like the beach.” Sam pointed out a little loudly and Dean shushed him.
“Can’t find out unless we go and if she wants to, this is our chance.” He argued back without looking up. “C’mon, I was talking about that one time.”
“Yeah, but not this seriously.”
Dean sent him a quick look as he sat on the edge of your bed. He didn’t care if he didn’t like it as much as you did if you were happy and having fun. You had been so excited talking about it that it was only fair to let it be about you, even if you wanted everyone to come along.
“If you don’t want to go, that's fine.” Dean said and Sam grumbled.
“I didn’t say that.” He huffed as he tossed his jacket to the floor. “Maybe it should just be you two though, so you can figure your feelings out.”
Dean paused his scrolling and gave Sam a confused look. What did he mean by that? Feelings? What kind of feelings? His stomach flipped and his heart began to beat a little faster as he stared at his brother.
“What are you talking about?” His eyes narrowed as Sam raised an eyebrow.
“You can’t be serious.” He shook his head and when Dean shrugged he scoffed. “You love Y/n, Dean!”
Dean’s eyes widened and he immediately felt hot. His stomach flipped a few times and he had to set down his beer before the smell made him nauseous. Then his heart began to beat just a little faster and he looked away from his brother with the shake of his head.
“That’s…That’s not what’s going on.” He stuttered and cleared his throat. “Y/n is a friend.”
“Right and Jack isn’t a nephilim. You have feelings for her, what’s wrong with that?” Sam rolled his eyes.
“I don’t have feelings for her!”
Dean had never felt this hot before. He would be angry at his brother if he hadn’t been caught off guard by what he said.
Sure, he liked to hang out with you a lot more than he did with others and whenever you were upset he always wanted to be the one to make you happier. He liked having your opinion on things and whenever he saw you it made his day just a bit better. And maybe when you laughed he felt queasy and when you hugged him he never wanted to let you go. So what if he got a little jealous when you had talked about other men in the past, he just didn’t like that you would end up spending less time with him.
He couldn’t imagine his life without you in it and whenever he thought of the future you were always there, with him…
Oh.
Oh no.
Dean’s face fell and he swallowed the thickness in his throat.
He would do anything for you. Of course he would! He was renting a goddamn beach house for you like it was nothing, like he was a normal person. Christ, he was head over heels for you and he hadn’t even realized he was.
Dean Winchester loved you.
He cursed under his breath and rubbed his hands over his face. He hadn’t meant for this to happen. He didn’t regret loving you, not at all, but it wasn’t right to have these kinds of feelings for a friend.
He knew that much.
Did you love him back? That was doubtful and that was the bad part. He was used to unrequited love, to lack of attachment, but this time it really hurt to think that you would never feel the same.
He wished he hadn’t come to this realization right now.
“It’s not a bad thing, Dean.” Sam said after silence but Dean shook his head. “Just tell her you love her.”
“Yeah, well it ain’t that easy.” He huffed and stood up from the bed.
“I get it, but you’ll feel better if you just do it.”
Dean opened his mouth to say something when you stepped out of the shower. He hadn’t even heard you cut off the water but he hoped you hadn’t heard what they had been talking about.
Judging by the content look on your face, you hadn’t.
Which was true. You had been preoccupied with drying yourself off and brushing your teeth, you didn’t notice their muffled voices behind the door. You were so used to being around them that when they spoke to each other, it was the perfect white noise.
“Gotta say, this motel has better showers than most.” You sighed and made your way to your bed.
Sam and Dean were giving each other looks as you walked by. Sam was trying to get him to confess but Dean was giving him a glare for even suggesting that. You were everything to him and he didn’t want that to disappear. He could lose you if he told you how he felt and he needed you. He couldn’t do it.
They stopped when you sat on your bed and looked at them both curiously.
“Did I miss something?” You tilted your head.
Sam opened his mouth to say something but Dean cut him off.
“I was just heading out to get some food.” He shoved his hands in his pockets and gave you a quick smile. You want anything?”
It wasn’t strange for Dean to get food out after a hunt and honestly you were grateful he was this time. All the action had made you hungry.
“Same as what you get.” You smiled.
Dean’s heart skipped a beat. He was definitely taking you to the beach no matter what.

Heart of a Hunter TAGS
Heart of a Hunter Saga TAGS
One last chance to join the tags!
Tumblr media
I'm closing the tags for the series (may not be permanent), but as the story has found quite a few new readers recently, I wanted to give one last chance to those people to get on the Tags List before I close it.
The tags will close for the Heart of a Hunter series on August 25th.*
*Please note, that adding yourself to my Dean Tags after that date won't get you tagged in the series. I'll be preparing chapters to post and queuing them for release without adding additional new tags due to time constraints from the real world keeping me busy. You know how it is.
I've had some delays in posting Act VII, but I'm hoping those will be resolved come September 2022. As of now, I'm shooting for the beginning of September to start posting the chapters weekly on Sundays, but there's a possibility I'll post sooner than that if all goes well.
Add or remove yourself from my tags HERE. Or you can always message me to do it for you.
New to the story? Get caught up on the Heart of a Hunter Saga here.
I love you all, and I can't wait to share the continuation of this crazy journey with you all in Act VII.

A/N: I'm now slowly starting to get into a routine of writing again. But don't expect this to last. I'm trying not to make promises. And I know I posting slowly but some months I just don't have the motivation to write.
By the morning, Y/n woke up groggy. Her head was pounding as the room still spun, a weight on her back kept her on the bed. Slowly lifting her head, eyes desperately trying to open, she peered around the room. The morning light was starting to shine through the curtains of the motel room, heavy snores filled the room as she realized she had somehow made it back to the boys.
Though she thought she was sleeping in the bed closer to the door than the bathroom. Confused, Y/n slowly turns her body around, only to see the Alpha she had argued the night before with, curling his arm around her waist, his face now buried in her neck where her mating gland is.
Freezing in her place, Y/n didn’t know what to do. She could feel his breath on her neck as he slept. She had never seen Dean look so peaceful. Laying there for a while, Y/n had snuggled back into the big Alpha.
Movement was heard from the other side of the room as Sam had now woken. The beta had gotten up and stared at the couple in the bed. A smirk fell on his features as he made his way to the bathroom. The Alpha never stirred from his sleep, not noticing that both the beta and Omega had awoken, with exception that Y/n had chosen to continue laying there with her eyes closed of course.
By the time Sam had gotten out of the shower and gone to get coffee for the trio, the Alpha had started to stir in his sleep, and Y/n had fallen back to sleep. Comfortable and warm in his tight hold.
As his eyes slowly opened, his nose started to smell the sweetest things, taking a big whiff of it, he snuggled into the smell before realizing what it was. Pulling his head away from her neck - though he did not want to - he stared at her beautiful features. He didn’t expect that they would be curled up this morning, but he couldn’t make himself move. Something alluring about her was pulling him in.
“Morning.” Sam said as he walked in the door with the coffees and breakfast, making Dean jump at the noise. He was so caught up in staring at Y/n that he didn't hear Sam walk through the door.
“Morning Sam.” He replied as he slowly unwound himself from the Omega, trying not to wake her before getting up to grab the coffee from Sam. A smirk played on Sam’s features but he never said a word. “Don’t.”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“Well your face said everything. Nothing happened.” Dean attempted to explain.
“Oh yes, the cuddling didn’t mean anything.” A glare formed on Dean’s face as he turned his head in Sam’s direction.
“Will you shut up! Nothing. Happened. And anyway she hates me. So yeah nothing happened.” He whispered, trying desperately not to wake the omega that was still deeply asleep.
Instead of responding, Sam simply rolled his eyes, drinking his coffee. Not long after, the Omega finally stirred. No longer feeling a weight around her waist, her head still pounding from yesterday's drinking, she could feel the boys staring at her.
“Morning sleepyhead. How’s your head?” A smirk lying on Sam’s features as Y/n groans, hiding her face in the pillow. A chuckle erupts from both of the boys at her reaction.
“Come on, we got a house to check, with all your drinking and moping yesterday.” The now brooding Alpha pointed out, making Y/n grimace. Still, she slowly made her way out of bed, holding her head as she went to the disgusting motel bathroom.
After getting ready, the trio make their way to the victims house, the silence that fills the car is awkward. Y/n not wanting to mention yesterday. And Dean, well, he didn’t know what else to say. Avoiding the whole entire thing seemed to be the right call for both of them. If they don’t acknowledge it, then what is there to talk about?
The fact that he got extremely possessive and controlling over an unclaimed omega last night is not the conversation he wants to be having. No. She's not his, he has no claim over her. But yesterday just made him so angry, he couldn’t believe that as an unclaimed omega she would go to a bar and get drunk, alone.
After a while, Dean pulls into the driveway of the victims house, the trio swiftly make their way through the taped up front door, no cops in sight. The house was a mess, whatever killed one of the victims tore them apart. As blood splattered the walls and floor.
“Well I guess this was where Adam Undergrove was killed.” Dean said, his head tilted towards Sam.
“Actually, no. He was found at the park near the woods.” Sam replied, the beta’s face filled with confusion.
“Well, what if he was killed here and then the body was dropped near the woods.” Dean started to explain.
“How would you explain the massive pool of the blood found next to Adam’s body then?”
“Well… I, I don’t know, okay.”
During the whole exchange, y/n kept quiet, only slightly nodding her head when she agreed with someone, mostly Sam. After the past couple of days, the omega realized that she didn’t want to fight the Alpha any more, she never won one argument against Dean. And Sam would barely back her up, but she understood why, when Dean was beyond angry it makes anyone want to curl up into a ball, be submissive. She surprised herself most of the time when she would fight back.
“Hey, Y/n?, Y/n?” Dean said, snapping his fingers in front of her face as she was brought away from her thoughts. “You ok?”
“Fine.” She breathed a fake smile, slowly walking away from the boys as she wandered around the house, leaving the boys with confused looks and sharing glances of concern with each other.
“Um, right. Ok, Well what about his wife, what's her name? Sally?”
“Sarah.” Sam told the Alpha, giving him a pointed look. “Her body was found at the cemetery.”
“Pool of blood next to it?”
“No, the report doesn’t say any of that.”
“So she could have been murdered here, body taken to the cemetary and dropped off there.” Dean explained, as he every once in a while looked over to the omega who was staring at all the items and photos on the fireplace. She hadn’t been paying much attention since they got to the house, and it did worry him, even if he wouldn't admit it aloud.
“Would explain the blood.” Sam said, “You wanna take upstairs or downstairs?”
“Huh?”
“I said do you want to look upstairs or downstairs? Or you could continue to stare at Y/n more if you would like?” The smirk that laid upon Sam features as he called Dean out on it. Dean couldn’t help it though, he was worried for the Omega who had stayed silent the entire conversation.
“Can it. I'll stay down here.”
“With Y/n-”
“Yes with Y/n. Will you just go look upstairs?” Dean exasperated as he pointed towards the bloody stained stairs. Sam quickly pulled his infamous facial expression before reluctantly going upstairs. Slowly turning back to the Omega in the living room, he watched her as she moved around the room taking every bit of detail in. With a sigh he entered the living room, trying very hard not to get too close to the omega.

Selling my OrlandoCon Tickets
So I have been MIA on tumblr due to the fact that my husband and I are expecting baby number 2 in late June early July. This lands right in the middle of the Supernatural Orlando Convention.
If anyone is interested it is a GOLD TICKET along with a J2 Op, a Jensen Solo Op and a Men of Letters Op. I am very sad that I can’t go to this as I have been holding on to these tickets since 2019 when they wer being sold and then the pandemic hit.
If you are interested please contact me and we can talk about how to transfer the tickets and payments. Keep in mind that the total would be over 1K as that’s how mush I spent for the tickets with the ops.

A/N: Finally got around to writing chapter 1. Sorry it took this long. Its been a long couple of months and I just haven't had the time or inspiration to write. But finally got back into the swing of things. hopefully people are still interested.
Once getting settled at the motel the trio finally took a look at the case. Sitting around the dingy little table in the center of the room, Sam and Dean sifted through online articles of the incident that occurred a few days ago, while Y/n was laying on one of the beds.
“Right, so get this. The man found a few days ago-”
“The guy without a heart” Dean interjected, leaving Sam pulling his ultimate bitch face.
“Yes, the guy without a heart. His name was Adam Undergrove. 26 years of age, good health. The only thing that was missing was his heart. Nothing else.” “So werewolf.”
“It doesn’t fit in with the lunar cycle.” Y/n’s voice popped up from behind them, leaning on her elbows against the bed. “The Full moon was two weeks ago. So not a werewolf.” Dean rolls his eyes at her, a little scoff abrupts from the omega.
“Yeah well what about Purebloods?” Dean says, fully turning around to meet her gaze.
“Yeah well what about Skinwalkers?”
Dean opens his mouth but nothing comes out, confusion set upon his face. “Ok so it could be anything that eats your heart.” Dean says before he is interrupted by the omega.
“No shit.” Dean immediately starts glaring at Y/n, Sam who has kept his mouth shut so far can feel the tension getting thicker between the Alpha and Omega. An argument is going to start between these two. And at the rate these two are going at, this day is not gonna end well.
“How about we get some food, Dean? Wanna go grab us all a bite?” “Fine.” Standing up quickly, Dean roughly grabs his jacket and the car keys before leaving, not sparing anyone a second glance or asking them what they want.
“Y/n, you've got to lay off Dean.” Sam tells the Omega as he hears the Impala roar to life, before smelling her reaction, anger quickly flows through the room before rolling into confusion.
“What do you mean?” “I mean, stop antagonizing Dean.” “Me! I did not start this fight, he did. Why are you siding with him? Is it because he is the Alpha?” The omega pulls a face, annoyance and frustration.
“Yes, he is in charge of this pack. You’re on the hunt now, there’s no need to make Dean any more angrier than he already is. You know how protective Alpha’s are, and you know what Dean is like.” Sam sighs deeply.
“I’m not trying to make him angrier. I know what happens. He just. He has been getting on my nerves all day.” Y/n shifts uncomfortably on the bed, crossing her legs over then uncrossing them before standing.
“What's new…” A scoff falls from Y/n’s lips as she starts to pace the room.
“Don’t be like that. This is different. I don’t know how to explain it. The last two hunts we have been on, he’s just been getting angry. No, agitated, that I’m on the hunt as well. I know I'm an unclaimed omega but that doesn’t change anything.”
“I know that, so does Dean.” “Does he? Sometimes I feel like he thinks i’m weak or stupid.”
“Do you really believe that?”
“Yes. No. I don’t know. It’s just the way he looks at me. Remember the words you told me?” Y/n whispered at the end, scared that Dean might still be here.
“Yeah I remember. I also remember you saying that we wouldn’t speak about it again or what was it, oh yeah, you would chop my balls off. Remember that.” Sam said, leaning forward, his elbow on the table with his chin leaning on his hands. Sighs fell from both of them as Y/n fell back down on the bed.
After a few hours, Dean returned with food and coffee. During that time that Dean was gone, Y/n had joined Sam at the table, going through the laptop looking at articles, looking through the lore to see if anything matched up.
“Ok, I got food. Burgers and Fries. And yes Sammy, I got you a vegan burger. Even though it shouldn’t exist.” Dean said as he started grabbing the food out of the bag. Plonked in front of Y/n was her favorite burger and her coffee was exactly the way she likes it. Strange. She doesn't even remember Dean knowing about it.
“You got my favorites?”
“Yeah.” Scratching his head, Dean sat down slowly next to her digging into his food to avoid conversation. Sam on the other hand gave Y/n a look, but she just shook her head and also dug into her food, avoiding Dean's stare. The tension between her and Dean was so thick a knife could cut straight through, looking back down at his laptop, Sam notices something strange.
“Um. Guys. Take a look at this.” Turning his laptop around for the others to see, a news article clear as day shows another murder. “Sarah Undergrove. Married to Adam Undergrove, went missing around the same time as Adam. Body shows up, heart missing, at guess what? The entrance to the cemetery. Looks like it was this morning before we arrived.”
“So this thing is going after couples.” Dean asked, tilting his head slightly at the thought.
“No shit.” Y/n mumbled, believing that the boys didn't hear her.
“Can it Y/n.” The Alpha’s voice rumbled with authority, the omega inside of her wanting to immediately back down, shrivel away from his dominance. But she didn’t, she held that part of her in as she scowled at the Alpha.
His brooding face never fails to show her how much he hates her. Guess him being nice is now over. What did I ever do to make him hate me? Shifting slightly under his gaze, avoiding looking at him, Y/n looks straight past him toward Sam. “So what's next, Sam?”
With a quick side glance to Dean, “Uhm, we should probably check out the morgue, see if there is anything else about the bodies. Might help to figure out what we are actually looking for. We should also check their house as well.”
“Right, so we split up?” She asked quickly. “I can go check out the house while you two-” “No.” There’s the authority of an Alpha again. “Not happening. Not alone.”
“What? Why not?” The omega in you wanted to whine.
“You’re an Omega. What if that monster, which we still do not fully know what it could be, is still there, lying in wait.”
“Ok for one that’s crazy. It’s a crime scene. Why on earth would the monster still be there? Two, using my presentation to make me look weak is just pathetic.” Y/n spat as she got up from her seat on the bed, grabbing her phone as she stormed out, leaving Dean with no room for a dispute. The Alpha left in his seat, anger and shock mixed as one.
Upon leaving, Y/n hears Dean talking to Sam, “Unbelievable. What the hell is she thinking?”
A scoff falls from her lips as she rushes to the nearest bar. Her presentation be damned, not really caring that her, an unmated omega, was going into a bar of all places, alone. Usually she is with both of the brothers and with Dean being an Alpha, it mostly warded off all Alphas going near her. But today she just needed to get away. She couldn’t expect Sam to stick up for her against an Alpha, after all he is only a Beta.
And being Alpha of the pack means that he has more in the decision making. Which she hated. Obviously. But she’s a capable hunter, and this whole Alpha brooding that Dean has got going is setting her off.
This is where it led, sitting in the bar drinking a bottle of whiskey in hopes to drown her anger and sorrows. Dean Winchester. A dickhead. An Alpha Asshole. Why did she ever think that hunting with an Alpha would be a good thing? It was just asking for trouble.
Her half bottle of whiskey sits in front of her as her phone lit up for the hundredth time. Sam. Several voicemails left, all saying the same thing. ‘Come back to the Motel where it is safe. Dean has calmed down now’ Well if there was something to know about her, she was stubborn. Stubborn enough that she would ignore these voicemails. And to think that she would believe Dean had calmed down when he is as stubborn as she is.
If he thinks for one second that she is going back to the motel where Dean is currently lying in wait, probably to start another argument between the two, then he is not as smart as he thinks he is. Sam is a Beta, he doesn’t understand the grudges Alpha’s have when they are mad, angry, irritated and so forth. And with Dean’s added stubbornness it just makes it worse, if the omega side of her had it her way, she would be submitting to the Alpha there and then. But she doesn’t.
By the time night falls. Y/n has gone through a bottle and half of whiskey. The drunken state she has fallen into leads her to dancing with strangers, Betas and Omegas so far, luckily. And by the time that the Alpha brute, Dean has walked into the bar, she is far to gone to notice his entrance. Though his stoic eyes scan the room for her. The deadly stare that could kill anything in his path. He’s pissed off, for sure, and any Alpha in the room knows not to mess with him. Not in this state.
As soon as she is in his sights, he stalks towards her, pushing everyone out of the way. Grabbing her arm tightly, she whines at his strength, not realizing who has grabbed her. Looking up at his tall puffed out chest, she knows she’s in trouble. His heavy breathy doing all the talking as he snarls to anyone who comes towards them.
“Motel. Now!” He orders. And with her drunken state, the omega inside her abides. Moving swiftly and quietly  with his strides out of the bar into the safety of his sleek impala. “What the hell do you think you were doing?”
“Was i- wasn’t it that obvious?” Y/n slurred, attempting to frown at the Alpha whose death glare had not left him since the bar. “I was drinking, jackass.”
“You’re drunk. You’re an Omega and you’re pissed out of your mind. Could you be more irresponsible?” He shouted, his voice practically shook the car as he drove down the street towards the motel. The omega inside of you shook with fear, from the loudness and anger that laced his voice, one you even knew not to argue against.
“I’m. I’m sorry.”
“Omega. This world is not safe. Especially for you. Hunter or not. You need to be more aware. This has got to stop.” She knew as much, though kept her mouth shut. There was no need to piss off an Alpha. Especially one that hated her.
“Why do you hate me so much?” Y/n mumbled, but was only met with silence as Dean barely took in her words. Glancing at her quickly before paying attention to the road, Y/n stared out of the passenger window, looking at the world that moved past her, the dark night and the moon shining brightly upon the car.
By the time they reached the motel, Sam was laying on the bed waiting patiently as the Alpha and Omega walked through the door. The awkward silence filled the room as the trio didn’t know what to do with themselves. Sam had quickly explained to the omega that he and Dean had gone to the morgue and checked out the body. There were no other signs that would suggest anything other than a werewolf. Probably a pureblood pack.
It was decided that once the Omega had sobered up in the morning the trio would go check out the victims house. Question neighbors and so forth.
Y/n quickly fell into a drunken sleep on the first bed she clambered into - which so happened to be Dean’s bed. But he didn’t say a word, only pulled off her boots, chucking the covers over her. Sam offered to swap beds so that Dean could have his own, but the Alpha declined, moving swiftly under the covers and falling asleep next to the Omega.
