maybe “baited” is the wrong word; i meant in the books, percy tries to challenge luke to a fight but luke refuses, knowing it’s not worth his time. it shows a control over his emotions that ares clearly didn’t have and makes luke seem like a silent threat. and it wasn’t so much as what i wanted annabeth to say, more like her reaction in general. a major part of her character revolves around her being in denial of luke and trying to see the good in him, but here she just pulls her weapon with a rather blank, stony expression. she didn’t seem as heartbroken over his betrayal i guess.

am i the only one who wasn’t a big fan of the luke reveal? don’t get me wrong, charlie and walker ate it up; i just don’t like that luke got baited into fighting percy when that’s the opposite of what he’s supposed to do?? like the whole point was that ares got baited into fighting percy and lost, and then we see percy try the same thing with luke but he’s too smart for that. also annabeth was there?? and she didn’t say ANYTHING about it after????? like that should be a massive deal holy shit

plz don’t kill me but i thought this last episode was kind of bad 😭

like why kill the suspense and mystery of the lotus casino at the very beginning? why is there no zebra in sight even though the title is “we take a zebra to vegas”?? why is there soooo much exposition dumping? why does he get four pearls?? WHY HAS THE SOLSTICE ALREADY PASSED????

i will standby the fact that i don’t think authors should be screenwriters because some of these changes (the exposition dumping and lack of stakes specifically) are just poor book to screen choices rick riordan made. genuinely nothing against rick, i just think he should’ve given the screenwriters a bit more control personally. im also not a fan of how he criticizes the movie for making changes but then changes things the movie got right? and then insults the movies for making changes?? like i hate the movies as much as the next person but let’s not pretend the show is a page to screen perfect adaptation. it’s not! which is FINE, it’s his work, he’s allowed to change what he wants, but why are we pretending like it is?

and in regards to the pearls and the solstice already passing, i just feel like it ruins the stakes?? like WHY ARE WE STILL GOING SO SLOW?? your quest is done! you failed! why aren’t we running??? WHY DONT WE CARE? and zeus will now accept his bolt after his deadline? i feel like that takes away from his authority/trustworthiness in a way; like the most powerful of all the gods will alter his word after the fact? doesn’t seem like he’s all that menacing now

gotta say though, the casting throughout the whole show has been spot on. like lmm ate up as hermes sorry not sorry!
