Special Spicy Scenes
Easy does it, as the saying goes. Today is my day off so here I am, trying to make some progress with the game. Today's main focus: sexyness.
Since the first poll resulted in most people wanting explicit sex scenes, let's talk a little about that.
I'm introducing a new stat for the ROs— Desire.
Just like you can identify romantic choices because of the heart attached (♥), choices that increase desire with a character are marked with a flame (🔥). It's important to note that choosing the flame option doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to read a sex scene. It's just a... charged exchange.
There are a couple of those already in the demo, some of them only available after certain choices.
On another note, we've also touched on the ROs turn ons before so I really want to add little variables within scenes that make the characters go at it only under very particular circumstances. What I mean is, most sex scenes you can get anyway, with their respective different developments depending on your choices, but I also want special, exclusive scenes in which the sole way of letting characters to go all the way is doing that very particular thing that makes them lose their head.
For example, for Margot, only obtaining a specific sex scene if you've managed to take your time to get her all hot and bothered during the course of a day or event. Same thing with the others' weaknesses. That would make the Desire stat skyrocket for a certain amount of time. Once the scene is done, or you've failed to get it, the stat will go back down and things will cool.
Let's see how it all works out when we get to those!

I know, I know, "where have you been? What about the demo?". I've been working. Both on the demo and in my real life. Which sucks. Real life. Not the demo. That'll be for you to judge when it comes out. Whenever that is, I'm done making estimations XDDD
Anyway, I keep making changes and adding things. We've come to a point in which the demo is about 25k (excluding coding). Not too bad for 3 weeks of work! I'm happy with it though it's not really that long of a demo since most of those words are variations and flavour text.
Even if it takes long to make a game like this, it's very important to me that choices and stats make a difference in a playthrough. Even if it's just a few sentences in an intereaction. As of now, I think every single choice has its own development in the scene, so I'm quite proud of that.
The mentioned additions include:
•The possibility of an oblivious romance path. I'm a sucker for those. Right now it's only available for Abbie, since I don't think it would work that well for the others, whom you didn't even know until you got in the show.
•Different scenes and exclusive paths depending on the age you choose. Abbie is the only character whose age will change according to yours, so I thought it'd be neat to make the other character react to considerable age differences. Like, Vega is the youngest and she'd be reluctant if you chose your MC to be in her 40s. This also means that if you're both in your 40s, Abbie, the poor thing, has been head over heels for you for a looong ass time. So, more pent-up longing there.
•I've decided to change the Kind vs Dismissive stat for "Kind vs Mischievous". That way you can be a bold sweetheart and a shy menace, too. This one will probably have as much of an impact on the ROs relationship scenes, much like the shy vs bold one already does. This is the one thing that's taking most of my time right now, because I'm not sure how I'm going to go about it and coordinate the two.
•My favourite addition might as well be the "How the Audience Views You" stat. Here for y'all to admire:
I'm also considering adding some ROs pov scenes and also confessionals, but I'm on the fence about those so... Incoming poll, I guess.

Damn, my laptop did something weird and I when I tried to delete a post that got uploaded twice I deleted the ask about the ROs kinks. Sorry Anon, here you go again.
ROs turn ons under the cut!
Abbie is into hair-pulling. She also loves her hair being played with lovingly, but likes it rougher when she's feeling a little frisky. If you help detangle it after messing it up, she's good to go again.
Irene has a thing for biting. She enjoys nibbling on every part of her lover's she can reach, but if you bite her neck while you ride her she's a gonner. Knowing that she can make you lose control like that is a turn on.
You can actually fluster Joanna if you are deft with words. Let her know how good her hands feel when she touches you, describe all the pleasure you'll give her when it's your turn and she's already getting there.
Vega's thing is voyeurism for sure, whether she's the one putting up a show for you or the other way around. Undress slowly for her, take your time rubbing some sweet smelling lotion on your legs, up your thighs. She's won't need long after that.
For Margot it's all about the build-up. Dress up for the ocassion, set the mood and make it clear where you want it to lead. Regale her with a dragged out foreplay session. She'll beg if needed.

As expected, explicit scenes win by a landslide. The people speak and the people are heard.
I think it's a little unfair how one can write sexy scenes without being sexy, and sad scenes without being sad, but not funny, witty scenes without being funny and/or witty.
Like, someone should have told me...
But let's go back to the first topic of this entry, sexy scenes. There are quite a few people following this now, so I'd like to know your opinion on how spicy narrative should be handled.
A day should probably suffice, but I'll let the poll open for a week, since there's no way I'm writing spice for Chapter One.

Hi!
As stated, Abbie is the exception, and the romance path is already halfway there on her part, no matter how you choose to go for it. She finds comfort in your familiarity and strong bond.
Irene would enjoy a kind partner the most, and would be harder to romance if you're a flirt with anyone else but her. She's very emotional, too, so a chill MC would be a great match.
Joanna really enjoys charming people. If you pair that up with a shy MC, she'll struggle not to swoon. Romance would be slower with a bold MC, but you'll bed her faster. Choose your battle, soldiers.
Vega is better suited for genuine and chill MCs that keep a cool head when she closes up but still tell her, calmly, that there's no fixing problems by innaction.
Margot would do better with an emotional and genuine MC. She feels very deeply but struggles to express herself so having someone who doesn't repress themselves would be liberating.
Dawn would appreciate a sarcastic and bold MC when she's getting to know them, but need them to be more gentle and honest when she's feeling vulnerable. In other words, easier to get to know as a bold [mischievous] MC, easier for her to fall for a shy [kind] MC.
I should mention though, that being dismissive will always make it harder to romance an RO, for obvious reasons. I mean, all the other traits you can find attractive in a healthy way but... I can't think of a non-toxic way of being treated with disdain and the RO thinking "uh, I love that one". I'm thinking about saving dismissive MCs for a hoe route with lots of kinky 'I hate you but you're so hot' sex...
Either that or changing "dismissive" for "oblivious".
Much like when I was a teen and started noticing how nice girls were, I have some things to figure out XDDDD

So... stats are kicking my ass. Hard.
Like, it's not difficult per se, but checking that every single option is doing what it's supposed to do is way more time consuming than I thought it would be.
There are lots of variations both in the story (flavour text) and the friendship/romance stats depending on your choices and personality, which means I have to read through at least two different versions of the same choice or page to make sure they are all properly labelled, and check the stats page often to see they're having an effect there.
I've also re-written some scenes that didn't flow quite as well when I actually played the game as they did when I was just writing them as separate bits of the story.
I'm happy at how it's all turned out, but it made me lose a lot of time. Like, it's ridiculous. I even made it so that the default names you can pick if you don't want to input one of your choice have different scenes. I'm a goddamn moron XDDD
I'll keep working on it to try and make the demo happen tomorrow but... It's not looking good. My day off is on Wednesday, so a Thursday release seems more feasible.

Not particularly athletic, she enjoys reading. Novels, essays, comic books, poems. You name it. She's goofy and has a blast bantering with you, though she always keeps an eye out as not to overwhelm you and promptly backtracks when she thinks she's making you uncomfortable. She's (not really) subtly touchy with you, always resting a hand on your back or patting your leg. The other contestants see through her from the start.

Can be stiff in a conversation with someone she's not familiar with, and is often much more relaxed when she can move while she talks, which is why dinner like first dates are certainly not for her.

Most well-travelled of the bunch, Joanna is in love with language and shows love through it. She can smooth-talk you and flirt with you relentlessly, and she's the one out of all the contestants who will want to try it out with all of the others. When she feels like things are getting serious for her, though, she'll won't keep it to herself.

*Bads you get: dismissive, a little self-centred, commitment issues.

Hooded black eyes. Short, black hair, long enough at the top so that she can style it a little with wax. Could easily become an afro if given time. Dark skin, tats on her arms highlighted in white ink. Average height, a little on the slim side, but has a toned build.
Laidback and calm. Really enjoys movies and series, has a thing for animation and dubbing. Very good at drawing and impersonations. Voice actress / Music producer
Always humming or whistling, she's content to spend her time looking for shapes in the clouds. She's more sentimental than she cares to admit and often struggles with her feelings when she knows that they don't respond to a logical behaviour, which often leads her to close off and avoid important conversations.
*What she wants in a partner: chill, no over-the-top romance, no pretence.
*Goods you get: honest, creative, independent, loyal.
*Bads you get: trust issues, reluctant to talk, ignores problems.

Gruffiness born out of social anxiety. Surprisingly family oriented. High salary at an important firm. Stiff but compassionate, she's a bitter realist. Lawyer.
A little rough and forceful, she'll make you feel as if you're applying for a girlfriend position instead of organically getting to know her. She's so concentrated in discovering if she's compatible with the other contestants that she overlooks the fact that she has to open up and allow them to get to know her, too.
*What she wants in a partner: family oriented, mature, understanding.
*Goods you get: family oriented, devoted, nurturing, tough love.
*Bads you get: impatient, approaches dating as an interview, not willing to compromise. …Tough love.
Route: romance bureaucrat turned softie

Deep set brown eyes, dyed blond hair in a wavy pixie cut, but it's naturally a soft chestnut brown in colour. Sharp features, thin nose and lips. Dimpled cheeks.
Confident, master of the innuendo. Loves good (and bad) wordplays and puns. She'd be the intersection in a Venn diagram between Witticism and Self Awareness. Her ability to both fill silences and end discussions in an entertaining manner make her an invaluable asset for any TV show.
Her bold nature lead many to mistake her openness for invitations to go further, which can end badly if anyone dares put a hand on her without her explicit permission.
Openly queer, Dawn is a big fish in the little pond of reality dating shows. Her newcomer label didn't stop her from making a splash from her very first episode. Now a coveted host in the reality world, she turned now the chance to renew her contract with the show that saw her become famous in favour of the upcoming Soul Sister.

*Goods you get: intelligent, dependable, romantic, sensible.
