i have been consuming way too many space and humans are space orcs. have a infodump about a species i've thought about Strongly

probably will keep updating this. because. Yeah. the space obsession comes and goes and i am so incredibly stupid about these guys. no name to their species but i have Thoughts and i am too tired to write half the time

them having no mouth, just like. em big ole eyes, and talking through gill like openings on their neck. they have vocal chords and shit, it's only that the noise doesn't come out of their mouth. the neck thingy is an opening good enough for their vocal chords to send the sounds thru. also them being able to flicker these gill things to make clicks and shit

the clicks are a big part of the language, as well as like glotal stops and other sounds that are just. impossible for humans. i don't know much about the IPA chart nor what tf "parynglear lateral fricative" would be like (i wish). but they do some of those too. very harsh sounding, very glotal and clicky, very rythmic and somehow well timed, everyone has a subconcious rythm they always follow and u can kind of tell when u spend a lot of time.

music would be very percussion based and rythmic.

their sense of rythm and awareness for patterns would be off the rails. as most of their culture and stuff is based around those they'd just. Get It.

aware of vibrations. just. Strongly. earthquake prone planet. biological reason why the rythm senses started, the cultural reasons just amplify and perfect the rythm thingy.

even with all this. Awful imitating other beings in spy missions or shit like that. their rythms, heartbeats and even breathing patterns? sure. speaking and tone? nay.

musical scales? have like 5 tones for the music spectrum we have baby. (by that i mean in the whole 8-scales in a piano bit. condensed in 5 notes. some are able to tell a bit more of a difference (max has been like. 10.) but they Suck), their brain just. never developed the need to develop it yk?
