Khushi shivered in the warm July night. No scar, bruise, fall nor fear hurt her the way Arnav’s silence did.
For a misunderstanding he had ruined her, for her mistake he did nothing.
She had endangered the lives of Anjali, Anjali’s unborn child and Arnav simply out of the selfish need to protect Payal’s marriage. Yes, she could finally admit that she had hoped Shyam to change for her conscience’s sake.
To justify her intentions that stood on wobbly grounds.
And as karma would be, Payal’s marriage was at the brink of irreparable damage and Arnav lost the faith of his sister solely because of Khushi’s silence.
Isn’t silence a friend to accomplice?

thinking about how their married life will be all about him randomly getting her flustered, blushing and all red, treating her w her favourite dishes to cheer her up when she’s sad, bringing her channe while out on his morning jog, random movie outings, cozy dinner dates, making jalebis together, her bringing him his lunch to sneak in those few moments together, teasing each other, days of happiness and sunshine, nights of stargazing, little conversations and passionate lovemaking, of creating memories, home, and a whole lot of love. 🥹

How to be a decent human being
Tip # 1:
Don’t act like you know more than a person when it comes to THEIR expertise (a field they work in or study) when you have never even come remotely close to it (i.e. extremely limited knowledge/exposure)
Some ways to go about it:
Be open to hearing their views instead of slamming your own, with the intention to educate yourself
It is not necessary to agree and beyond your control but it is totally possible to be respectful about it
Do not and I repeat DO NOT compare that to another field because you have no idea how hard/easy something is unless you have tried every option that is being compared. Besides there are a million factors that go into everyone’s experiences so that makes the comparison invalid.
Do not act like you know more just to feed your ego, before anything else it makes you a terrible human being and secondly you couldn’t be more wrong and is pretty much equivalent to digging your own grave
You do not have to respect the field in order to respect the person (its your own opinion and view what you think of that field, but it doesn’t give you the license to be disrespectful to the person)
In order to do any or all of the above you do not have to believe the person in question knows more or less, these measures SHOULD be taken just out of respect and common sense

i think a lot about how arnav was always so intrigued by the affect he has on khushi. he is someone who always believed himself to be unworthy of love and that the people in his life are only concerned because he can provide them w something. it is only w khushi that he kind of realises the power he has on people as an individual w something other than money and his status. it’s so wholesome to see arnav always looking on w awe everytime khushi gets flustered and just trying to pacify her heartbeats around him or looking at him mesmerised. he’s almost playful, teases her, smirks, smiles, he is happy and he isn’t hiding it. it’s like he’s taking it in… the feeling of being wanted just for the person he’s and it’s SO WHOLESOME.

Oh ...the look in his eyes...
*sigh* I love the way Arnav looks at her in this gif:
Tumblr media
It’s “Hi babe, I’m your future.”
It’s “You’re the only future I want.”
It’s “I don’t know what to call this but I’m done fighting it.”
It’s eternity.

Loving all the white lies series..but this one was the best...

The World’s Best Husband
The first time Arnav was confronted with the fact that he was horribly wrong about Khushi was when he heard her spin stories of her happily married life.
The words were hers, so were the stories, yet the man was anything but him.
She spoke of an Arnav-ji who was so foreign that he was instantly shamed and had no words to say. He saw the relief and happiness in his mother in law’s eyes - one that had reflected in his or his Nani’s eyes when they’d hear sweet tales of Shyam or his father.
Today Arnav was clubbed with the men he hated.
And not because of a misunderstanding, solely because of his own actions. He deserved to be there.
Khushi smiled, throat burning in suppressed tears as she told stories of the soft, intense, passionate Arnav who’d bring the stars and moons to her feet if she asked.

“It’s become very apparent to me that the older you are the less praise you’re going to get. When you’re 3 and you paint a picture outside the lines, they give you gold stars. When you’re 10 and you score a goal, they take you out for ice-cream. But when you’re 17 and struggling to fit in, no one gives you a hug just for making it through the day. And when you’re 23 and pulling long hours at the office, no one asks if you’re alright. And you start to wonder if you are, if there’s a point to any of it. The answer is yes. Because good work, real good work that shapes your character, doesn’t need to be acknowledged. You grow in the silences, in the reflections, in the inhales and exhales that let you know you’ve made it from one moment to the other.”

A comprehensive guide to recognizing abuse in the simplest possible word...thank you@jalebi-weds-bluetooth
Hi JWB
Happy New Year
I love ur blog and all your analysis..esp the answer about why we all and khushi fell in love with Arnav.
I had a very odd question and if its hurtful or makes you uncomfortable pls ignore..
Having watched the show multiple times i can't help but feel that Arnav is usually right and I have never found his behaviour abusive..while he may have been unfair to Lavanya most of his abusive behaviour is usually due to Khushi triggering him..
Am I being wired in thinking like that.somethong wrong with my thinking..in not recognizing what everyone does that he was abusive.....
Sorry for being wired
Tc
Hello Anon,
Thank you for being honest about your thoughts and opinions. Hey it’s ok to not understand something - I am super appreciative of the fact that you want to learn.
DISCLAIMER: this post talks about abuse and treats Arnav in a real setting. Pls skip if you wouldn’t like to read further and also this is solely my point of view.
This gifset and the link in it talks a lot of abuse and how Arnav was shown as abusive.
Abuse can be never justified. Yes, triggers explains that why someone flared up, but that flaring up that leads to hurting a person can never be justified nor forgiven.
This comes to human right. Every person has the right to be respected, heard and not be harmed. In Arnav and Khushi’s marriage - her respect was extremely violated.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately as a society, abuse is seen as rape or intentional physical abuse like kicking or slapping - but there are a thousand more things that count as abuse such as intimidation, name calling, yelling, bruising, aggression, blackmail and more.
In general, an abusive man is sketched out as a non repentant person who intentionally tortures their partner.
Tumblr media
So it seems like Arnav does not fall in that category because we all know he loves Khushi from the bottom of his heart. And with the show from Arnav’s POV where justification and rationale is shown for every action he takes - then to the audience, clearly he’s not abusive.
But unfortunately - abusive men are men who can love, shower gifts, apologize for their actions (and mean that apology). Abusive men can genuinely love their partners. Abusive men can and do have rationale for their actions.
So abuse does come with being in love or having genuine regret or having a reason for the anger. Abuse is that when you’re angry, you feel it’s ok to yell at a person to a point of intimidation and squeeze someone’s arms even though the other person is complaining about the pain.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately the show doesn’t show Khushi’s perspective - then it would’ve been easier to understand why living with Arnav at one point is horrifying. Out of the blue Arnav would just insult her, call her a gold digger, call her a characterless woman, slam her against a wall or squeeze her arms hard enough though she yelps in pain. Why? Only because he got a flashback of a moment and thinks it’s ok to behave like that with her.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately he treats Shyam with better respect. Apart from grabbing his collar two times and giving him glares, Arnav unleashes his rage on an unsuspecting Khushi because she’s physically smaller, has lesser status, cannot retaliate to a point that can hurt the family (Shyam can) and is blatantly misusing the physical right they have over each other.
Tumblr media
The reason why I never respect Arnav’s decision of not confronting Khushi about Shyam is because he uses that knowledge to constant verbally abuse her and she has no idea why a man went from dancing with her to locking her outside his room. This is called “contempt” - a form of emotional abuse. It is where a person shows anger, hurts you with their anger, but never says why they’re angry in the first place. It makes one think and rethink of every single decision.
Yes, Khushi unintentionally triggered Arnav multiple times. But so did his grandmother and sister on multiple occasions.
In fact there’s a literal moment in the show when Nani accuses Arnav of being like his father. Does Arnav slam Nani against the wall? No, because there is that inherent respect towards his elders and lines he can never cross.
Then why can he do that with Khushi?
Anjali forces Arnav to think about marriage, despite knowing his trauma surrounding it - Arnav never ends up squeezing Anjali’s arms to give her bruises. In fact the one time he yells at her he begs an apology and never yells at her again.
Why does Khushi not receive that treatment?
And yes, many can say that Arnav apologizes to Khushi - but his apologies are with a condition. That she must accept the apology. On the two occasions she doesn’t - when he attempts to apologize for yelling at her without knowing she’s an orphan, and when she chooses to walk out even though he called her the biggest mistake of her life - Khushi ends up being forcibly held in his arms or threatened about Akash and Payal’s marriage if she doesn’t listen to him.
Tumblr media
Not much of an apology there, eh?
I am not making Arnav devious, it’s just that he is abusive and I chose not to accept a lot of things as canon because he’s a fictional character and the turn he makes from being abusive to loving... is also fictional. I’m not saying change is impossible, absolutely not. But a lot of work and therapy needs to be involved along with honest apologies. The lack of Khushi’s perspective in this show, especially in the marriage, romanticizes and lessens the blow of Arnav’s actions where in reality he would’ve been a nightmare, not a Prince Charming.
Also, one of the excellent ways to differentiate between abuse and argument is to draw a parallel between the argument Arnav and Khushi have after he learned that Anjali attempted abortion after Khushi went to her despite strict instructions to not go to her, AND, Akash and Payal’s argument when Akash learns that his wife knew very well about what Shyam did and did not tell anyone - it was the gravest breach of trust.
Tumblr media
Arnav and Akash have an extremely valid reasons to be upset on Khushi and Payal.
Khushi should have not gone to that room - at this point it is proved that her stupid actions hold consequences regardless of intention. And Nani literally begged her because she told Khushi that Anjali is traumatized and has associated Khushi with her trauma. Did Khushi respect Anjali’s trauma and her need to be alone? No. Did she listen to what her family asked from her? No. Why? Because she felt this innate desire to fix things because she thinks she can. And she screwed up, royally. Nothing stopped Khushi from calling up Arnav, Akash, Payal or even Mama ji to tell them that Anjali hasn’t eaten.
Payal, on the other hand, had NO reason to hide such a deep secret from Akash. Yes, their marriage hasn’t been off to a rosy start but Akash has fulfilled that one promise he made before their wedding - to not hide things from her. And what did Payal do? She hid about Shyam and the whole matter. Even though she saw right in front of her eyes that Shyam had no intention to change.  Payal was obliged out of duty AND love to tell the truth to Akash. He deserved to know. But she hid it, just like another person Akash trusted - Khushi.
Tumblr media
Arnav and Akash are both suffering from a breach of trust from their wives.
However this is where we see the difference between argument and abuse:
Arnav begins by gripping Khushi’s wrists - which were injured - and dragged her to their room. Akash walks in and stops, seeing a waiting Payal and knows a conversation will take place.
Tumblr media
Arnav intimidates her by yelling, stepping close into her space, leading to Khushi flinch at his tone. Akash always stays at a respectful space, his tone is never loud to hurt Payal or frighten her. Despite having a towering height, Akash never corners her physically.
Arnav blames Khushi for things she shouldn’t receive blame - like she was the reason why Shyam strayed. This is sexist and nothing can justify it. Akash never blames Payal nor Khushi for what Shyam did. He blames Payal for Anjali’s trauma and shock because if the truth had been told sooner than Anjali could’ve tolerated the truth better in the form of family support and not earth shattering revelations.
Arnav never talks about fixing the argument and the hurt he caused Khushi. Akash, equally hurt, is always open to whatever more Payal or Khushi have to say about the matter regardless of his temper.
Arnav blackmails Khushi to make her stay back. Akash, after a couple of days, cools down and talks to Payal about repairing their relationship.
You see the difference? Akash and Payal are having an argument. Arnav mistreats Khushi. Both women were at fault. While Payal deserves the stiffness from Akash, Khushi does not deserved to be blackmailed. At no point in the argument is Payal ever undermined or her self respect is in question (ignoring the Manorama thing here). Yes her marriage with Akash is on the rocks because he sees Payal not accepting her mistake nor attempting to shed light on how they were mistaken to hide the truth.
And what’s beautiful is the moment Payal realised she crossed a line in her tone, she apologizes to him at night and gives him the rationale behind her behavior. It instantly melts him and he talks of fixing their relationship.
Tumblr media
None of this happens with Arnav and Khushi. Rather what happens is an extremely toxic challenge where a toxic power dynamic is established (literally him a lender and her a slave of sorts) where Arnav freezes all forms of her finances to repay the house rent (thereby effectively taking away the one place she can go away from him), establishes his financial superiority in the relationship, takes advantage of his financial superiority, blackmails her of telling the truth to the family knowing she’ll be afraid of how Shashi can take the news...
And love bombs her the minute they’re home. And love bombing is an unhealthy way of dealing with a relationship. According to Wikipedia, “Love bombing is an attempt to influence a person by demonstrations of attention and affection. It can be used in different ways and for either positive or negative purposes. Psychologists have identified love bombing as a possible part of a cycle of abuse and have warned against it.”
And that is what Arnav is constantly doing in those few days where Khushi ‘might’ leave him. He fills the whole floor and staircase with roses (while also taking advantage of her fear of darkness that came from the death of her parents???), gifts her with jalebis, Salman poster - everything she loves until she relents.
Once she does relent - he’s all fine.
Ok, I know there are more nuances about those moments but at large his excessive affection comes only at a price of her staying at home - and not one of those moments has him truly apologizing to Khushi for what he has done.
He goes from telling Khushi he’ll ruin her, threatens her, to being surprised when Khushi tells him she knows he’ll ruin her because he later said he didn’t mean it.
The issue why Arnav becomes abusive is because he forgives himself in his head. His guilt, his regret - it all plays in his head because that’s what the audience needs to hear. “Oh Arnav is repenting his actions”
But what’s the use of the repent if he’s restoring to mind games and blackmail to have Khushi? Or the basic fact that he flat out never says sorry to her or the only time he says sorry is when she’s going to marry him - therefore it’s a point where he’s completely assured she isn’t going to leave him so saying sorry is safe.
So yeah, it’s why I feel the writers missed the mark, HUGELY, in writing an abusive marriage instead of an angsty one.
Phew, this was a LONG answer. Also I’ve covered similar topics here.
Best wishes!
- JWB

This is the second and final chapter of this two part short story. I have not read the book by E L James mentioned in the story so I am just using it as reference for a book from which a couple may take ideas to spice up their amorous lives...whether Arnav and Khushi are into those things I cannot say...I would like to credit@phati-sari for the lines "mine..mine..mine" I have picked them straight from her works This Story was meant to be a short, funny OS about the misunderstanding regarding a book Khushi gifts Arnav but I am not sure what it is anymore and how many will read it...but if you do...pls let me know how it was...any feedback will be highly appreciated. There are slightly mature themes and innuendos in the chapter.
Chapter 2 Lost is translation The one with books and ideas
It was the tinkling of her anklets that alerted Arnav to Khushi’s arrival. He turned and the world stopped…everything just stood still and raced simultaneously…his gaze first fell on her feet…the dainty golden sandals and travelled up, taking in the black churidar…She is wearing my colors, was all Arnav could think...his eyes travelled up the all black anarkali and finally landing on her face heavily kohled eyes and a tentative smile on her lips…she was stunning and Arnav was stunned…mine ..mine …mine ...was the mantra in his head....the look of pure unadulterated awe and wonder on Arnav’s face brought a rosy smile on Khushi’s…she fidgeted under the onslaught of his gaze and then took a few steps towards him…they were lost in each other’s eyes…everything around ceased to exist… All coherent thought had left Arnav’s brain…and his unabashed staring and a coy smile made Khushi smile back. As she raised her lowered eyes, their eyes met the and whooosh ... the “Hi” hovering on Arnav’s lips just melted away…he was completely floored by what she had done and how she looked…all his yearnings, hopes and dreams wrapped in a breathtaking obsidian package. The concierge approached and asked Khushi about their reservations and it was her softly spoken "Khushi Kumari Gupta Sigh Raizada” that brought Arnav out of his stunned daze…he loved hearing her name…had loved it from that first day …the “Singh Raizada” marking her as his even at a time when nothing else was making sense these five words always righted his world…
They were led to their table and Arnav pulled out a chair and gestured her to sit with a flick of his eyebrow and a nod. She sat but immediately got up and rushed to do the same for him…it touched something deep in him as he got what she was trying to do…this was her attempt to be a part of his world…how she managed to disarm him each time is something he will never understand but always appreciate…
Finally, they were alone and he had his thundering heartbeat under control he uttered the words he had thought of the moment he saw her
“Hi!” said Arnav with a lopsided grin.
She smiled back with “Hi” of her own
“Khushi …” his voice dropped a few decibels, “yeh rang” he paused echoing words from Akash’s sangeet and she gasped “Hawww” anticipating a backhanded compliment, mouth open, eyes wide with mild outrage.
“Khushi…ye rang to mera hai ..toh tumne kyun pehna”
“Toh..!Hum bhi toh apke hi hain” She said incensed and then realizing that she fell for his ploy gave him a steely stare whose effect was ruined by her smiling eyes.
“Really” asked Arnav with his eyebrow raised and the lopsided grin that never failed to set her nerves on fire.
“Koi shak...” she replied joining in the spirit of the banter.
“Khushi ..ye rang tumpe bahut acha lag raha hai..you are beautiful” he whispered leaning over the table slowly moving his hands towards hers as he continued “tumne isliye pehna because it’s my favorite color” stated Arnav with a cocky grin.
“Nahin, humne isliye pehna kyunki aj hum Arnav Singh Raizada hai” she replied, taking her hands off the table and putting both of them on her waist, elbows bent in what she thought was an ASR imitation.
“WHAT!!!!” blurted Arnav perplexed, all thought of flirting wiped out of his mind.
“What nahin, What the!!!” she replied cheekily.
Arnav sighed and taking her hand in his and asked gently, “Khushi, ye kya kar rahi ho tum?”
“Ap hamare liye itne badal gaye, Arnav ji... sab parampareyin dil se nibhayee, ritee riwaz se sab karne ke liye man gaye, mandir aye, itne tohfe diye humein..toh hum bhi apke liye kuch karna chahte the..agar ap hamare liye itna kuch kar sakte hain to hum bhi aisi mehengi jagah akar dating kar sakte hain” Khushi explained.
“Okay!!! said Arnav a little gobsmakced and then smiled feeling the emotion behind all that has happened today..."So what’s the plan…order karien” he asked opening the menu. Khushi nodded, opened her’s and gestured the waiter to signal that they were ready to order. Noticing her confusion with the menu Arnav was about to offer his help when he hears her tell their waiter to bring in “Number 4, 6 and 8”. Arnav read the dishes corresponding to those numbers and was surprised to see that they were all his favorite dishes and a warm feeling washed over him. She chose an Italian restaurant, a cuisine she is not fond of, and is ordering his favorite food. All his adult life he had been surrounded by family who have loved him, unconditionally …Di, Nani, Mami, Mama, Akash…all of them accept who he is but have never tried to be a part of his world and constantly question him and his tastes… that Khushi was embracing his choices without losing her essence touched him in places he didn’t even know existed in his heart till now…
He was unsettled, he was staggered, overcome with a tide of ....never had anyone gone to so much trouble for him....he was the one who gave surprises to people he cared for...was he blushing...NO...clearing his head with a shake ..he took a sip of water and looked up to Khushi with a teasing smile “So you have done your homework, haan, Italian restaurant, my favorite dishes, aur kya surprises hain Khushi?” he asked, his voice a tad husky and raw
She blushed prettily, then shaking her head to regain composure stared right into his eyes and said in clipped tones “Aranv Singh Raizada ka har kaam perfect hota hai” then falling back into Khushi mode “who kya kehte hain…top notch ..top notch”
Arnav is mesmerized by the tinkling of her jhumkas as she moves her head in sync with her to hand signify a top notch arrangement…and it is top notch…the waiter arrived with their food followed by a bottle of Champagne. Khushi popped the bubbly perfectly, poured it and offered him the flute. He was so engrossed in simply observing her that it took him a moment to accept it and ask, “Tum nahin logi?”
“Haan lenge na, bilkul”
“Khushi tumhe Arnav Singh Raizada banne ki koi zaroorat nahin. Maine woh sab cheezein ki kyunki I don’t have a probem with them, but you don’t have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable… I love you just the way you are…”
Her eyes glisten at the emotion in his voice, “Hum, wo bas apke liye kuch karna chate they, par hum samjhte hain ki aap kya keh rahien hai…waise bhi hum advitiya hain..zyada badalna nahin chahiye” a teasing tint appeared in her stance.
“That’s true…You are unique”
“hawww …ap kab se inti hindi samjhne lag gaye” she asked surprised.
“Ab thoda KKGSR toh main bhi ban hi sakta hoon” he replied smugly and then gesturing towards the forgotten food he asked “shuru karein?” but as she was about to dig in he stopped her, added seasoning to her serving and in response to her startled “What the?!!!” replied gently “Trust me, It will taste better this way,” and her “mmmmmmm” with eyes closed as she savored the first bite was all he needed to feel utter bliss and contentment. Watching her enjoy her food has always been a double edged experience for Arnav, he loves the unabashed joy that lights her up when she eats something she likes and he can just feast on that sight all day but the little moans of appreciation stir another hunger in him, he aches for her, he burns for her…
“Arnav ji”
“Hm!!?”
“Dekh kar hi santushti kar lenge ya khuch khayenge bhi... lijiye na?”
Unable to deny her and unable to look away from her, Arnav ate his food distractedly as she excitedly talks about the upcoming days and tells him about the plans she has made and he just takes her all in, he has had her all to himself after a very long time... his smile broadened with each passing moment and he reaised... He was Happy...
As their table was cleared up Arnav handed over his card to the waiter but Khushi stopped him her hand on his arm, “Nahin!!! hum denge, nyota hamara tha na Arnav ji”
“Khushi, mujhe karne do” and he handed over the card a little anger seeping into his mien.
“Aap aise kaise kar sakte, hum paise de rahe they na” she asked, hurt.
“Biwi ho tum meri, main bhi de raha tha” realizing his tone, Arnav reigned in his anger and softly cajoled “Khushi, it’s the least I could do, aur agar tumhare liye itna imprtnat hai, toh next time you pay”
“Pakka?” She asked, mellowing a little.
“Sure” he replied and then got up to help her out of her chair and they walked out of the restaurant holding hands “Seedhe ghar, ya thoda drive pe chalien?”
“Mmm... apse kuch bat karni hai, toh lambe raste se cahlte hai..drive bhi ho jayegi”
They get into the car and Arnav sees her fumbling with her seat belt and leans over to help…her aroma invades him and he is hit by wave of desire …he looks up to see her eyes reflecting the full force of what they both are feeling…she is ready but he knows with all that he has felt today, it will take just a caress for him to unleash the full force of his longing and he will not be able to stop. So he tries to lighten the heavy expectation floating in the air by muttering
“Ye gadi change karni padegi, iski seat belt hamesha tumhe pareshan karti rehti hai”
“Khabardar!!! ye gari shuru se hamari choti si duniya rahi hai..ap isse hath bhi mat lagaiyega” she warned, turning towards him index finger raised.
“Tabse?” Arnav asked smilingly, eyebrow raised, head titled , his index finger pointing back over his shoulder, reflecting the question but understanding the meaning behind her words and love hidden in them,
“Tabse” Khushi answered with a smile of her own and interlocked their fingers together. He turned towards her, looked down shyly and then back up, "Arnav ji, Chodiye na" he said in a poor imitation of khushi...and then a teasing smile appeared on his face.
"Hamari awaz aisi nahin hai" huffed Khushi in mock affrontry.
"I know" winking at her he started the car. The stopped on a clearing overlooking a ridge which showed a beautiful visual of the city.
“So, kya bat karni thi?” Arnav asked after a while looking over at her
“Who, apne humein choodian di thi aur, phir abhi kuch din pehle bhi itne sare tohfe, toh hum bhi apke liye kuch laye hain, kitaab hai” she said handing over a neatly wrapped, beribboned package.
“Ek aur Car maintenance manual hai, seat belt nahin theek hogi use” he asked, incredulously.
“I just want ki tum jaldi se ghar wapis aa jao, bahut papad belne pad rahein hain, You are all the gifts I need, Khushi”
She leaned over and put her hand on his chest, looked up and whispered coyly “Toh sochiyega ki ye hamare liye gift hai, bahut dhoondne pe mili aisi kitab, isme kafi ache sujhaav hain, agar ap unme se kuch try karenge to humein bahut acha lagega”
“Okaaaay, lemme see” he wrapped his one hand around her and pulled her closer to gently place her head on him and with the other tried to open the wrapping.
“Nahin” Khushi got back up and stopped him “Abhi nahin, ghar jake kholiyega..hum nahin chahte ki ap soche ki hum apko badalna chate hain…bus kuch sujhav hain, unme se jo apko achein lagein ap azamiyega... toh humien bhaut acha lagega, who kya kehte hain… it will spice things up”
Now very intrigued, Arnav couldn’t wait to see what she had chosen for him… “Okay…mmm.. Khushi ..Thanks…for tonight…” he looked down and then back up his throat clogging with the some unnamed feelings about how she had gone out of her comfort zone so he could be comfortable. Something no one had ever done for him.
“Hum samajhte hain, apko kuch kehne ki zaroorat nahin, but agar thank you bolna hi hai toh, please inme se kuch try kijiyega” she urged, pointing towards the book.
“Okay” he started the car and drove towards Laxmi Nagar.
As Khushi got off, this time the seat belt gave her no grief, something she regretted immediately, she turned to wave him off “Bye Arnav Ji, aur ramnchi mat kariyega..ghar jake hi kholna”
“Okaaaaaayyy…bye”
He drove off speeding a little in his hurry to reach home and for a moment decided to open it now but then dropped the idea... he did say he will wait till he was back home and Arnav Singh Raizada was a man of his word.
Arnav ripped open the gift paper as soon as he entered the room and what he saw made him go week in the knees…Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James…”Whaaaat” he is freaked out...he was flabbergasted…
He goes from super excited to super angry and back to thrumming anticipation in a matter of seconds
“She wanted to me try this stuff?”
“How the hell does she know about this book? ”
“She did say, it will be a gift for her”
“Who told her about this book?”
“She said she would like it”
All this yo yoing had him light headed and he thought it best to call her. She picked up the first ring
“Hel…”
“Ye kya kiya tumne? “he interrupted her mid greeting, his voice dangerously low
“Arnav ji, sirf sujhaav they… nahin ache lage to rehne dijiye”
“Aur agar ache lage toh” he asked filled with anticipation
“Mmmm dekha humein pata tha aise ho hi nahin sakta ki apko hamara tohfa pasand na aye” she said in self-congratulatory tone.
“Khushi, tumhe pata hai ki iss book me kya hai” He asked, just to be sure
“Isme pata hone wala kya hai Arnav ji, naam se hi clear hai... aur agar apko nahin samjh aye toh photo bhi toh bani hai…” she replied matter of factly.
“Photo... what photo?” Aranv was enraged that Khushi might have seen something she might not like and then intrigued that she did say she liked it
“Ohho, lagta hai hamare sath reh reh ke apki English khrab ho gayi hai…Fifty shades of Grey, Arnav ji...apke sabhi suits ek hi rang ke hain, toh mujhe laga is book se apko alag alag shades ke ideas mil jayenge…zada rang biranga to ap pasand nahin karenge, isliye bas thoda sa change…bola toh tha it will spice things up”
Arnav was speechless and then just kept on laughing...shoulders shaking, uncontrollably... laughing out loud...something only she had the ability to make him do.
“Isme hanse wali kya bat hai, hum jante hain apka apna fashion hopuse hai par, ap kaha wahan se ideas lete hain... isliye hume apko di ye book..wo mmmm... han inspiration ke liye…aur tie aur suit ki photo toh bani hain uspe..itna simple hai….”
Tumblr media
Arnav bit his lips and shook his head to control his mirth and said “OH Yeah!!!... pretty straight forward”
“Aap karenge na” she asked softly, a little unsure...
“Tumne kaha i toh karna hi padega...Saadi ke bat dhekta..saat me decide kargenge...OK?" he replied hopeful, teasing and happy
"Arre wah" Ye theek rahega" she said totally oblivious of the roller coaster Arnav just went through.
"Thanks Khushi …mujhe tumara gift, aur aj ki ye sham dono bahut pasand aye…”
She smiles into her phone and he sense that she is about to say something so he adds
“Ab so jao..kal sangeet me milte hai…good night and Khushi..”
“Hmm”
“I will wear some shade of grey as a gift for you…” he promised smiling wickedly imagining the fun he will have teasing her sometime far away or may not so far in future about the suggestions she wanted him to implement
She smiled and went to sleep with dreams of a Arnav who was happy because of her.
He stayed awake smiling whole night, he couldn’t wait to start the rest of his life…with his wife.

Fifty Shades of Grey
This is my first try at writing a fanfic or fiction of any kind...I usually just write my thoughts on whatever I feel like...I am new to Tumblr and only recently discovered this awesome world of IPK fanfic and the beautiful writings of so many people had me itching to create something of my own...each time I re-watch the show I get so many ideas but as they say, its the execution that's the key..so here I am presenting one of the earliest ideas I had..it had started as a small, funny One shot in my head but has grown into something else as I put it into words...Hope whosoever reads it, enjoys it...I am not sure how many people will read this but if you do, I would love some feedback...any feedback ..positive or negative...I would like to thank @phati-sari @jalebi-weds-bluetooth @featheredclover and @dimaagkadahi as their blogs introduced me to IPK fan world and then inspired me to try my hand at it... so here goes nothing
Chapter 1- Vorfreude The one with anticipation and realizations
“Arnav ji, aap ayenge na?”
Intrigued and amused he had replied with an “I guess so”, but the anticipation mingled anxious tinge to her voice told Arnav how important today was for Khushi. She had planned a date for them.
Their first date…that it had taken them six months of being married, and almost a year of being in some kind of a relationship to actually go out on a date, and that too on the eve of their second marriage, amazed Arnav and he realized, once again, how unusually turbulent their journey had been. He also acknowledged that most of the issues could be laid down at his feet. He had repeatedly hurt her, accused her of imaginary slights and unimaginable crimes, manhandled her and used deliberately targeted words to slice through what he thought was her façade of innocence. If he had been an outsider viewing their relationship, he would have advised Khushi to stay the hell away from him. He himself had tried to keep distance, whichever way possible, tried damn hard do so for a very long time but failed spectacularly and miserably…and when he gave up fighting what she was doing to him, he was a changed man…her personal brand cocktail of charm, tenacity, madness and the sheer large heartedness had at first chipped away gently and then bulldozed its way through the walls around ASR to reveal Arnav and his heart which had an ocean deep capacity to love.
As all these realizations swept through Arnav’s mind, and not for the first time, he was just grateful for who Khushi was …no one else could have loved him and made him feel the way she did… Arnav turned the car towards his rose garden to thank Ma, as was his habit whenever the realization hit that his behavior could have lost him his Khushi, for literally dropping her into his life, because who else would send such a gift his way.
Realizing he was already late, Arnav ran towards his wardrobe and was interrupted by NK as he chose what to wear for tonight. NK was up to his usual antics and banter and Arnav ignored him for most part before picking a black suit, black tie coupled with a lavender shirt. He wanted Khushi to know that he could a little color to his wardrobe and NK’s comment “Black is better than black" had rankled a bit.
He was excited for tonight and really looking forward to what Khushi had planned. It smarted a little that she came up with the idea first, and he decided to take her on an outing as soon as possible. He will take her to the Derby, Arnav thought. She loves outdoors and his heart skipped a beat as he imagined asking her to wear something in white to combat the heat of the day. She looked ethereal in white. He started on a run outside the room a smile playing on his lips as he imagined Khushi in white, hair flowing, eyes wide, jumping in excitement of the races, a rosy glow on her cheeks ...his heart started on its now familiar rhythm of anticipation… He was brought out his musings when he saw Di…she was about to head out. After ensuring that she wasn’t going out alone Arnav left for Blue Orchid. Arnav was excited, he was nervous, he was happy…he was going on his first date with his wife…Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada
