Most of us use our smartphones as cameras now. The 90s and early 2000s had us carrying around our phones AND cameras!! (The Horror!!) These days, it is easy to take high-quality photos on the go without lugging around expensive equipment. Here are a few tips on how to do just that:⁣ 1.) Balance.⁣ Grids help balance or center your photo. They are the (sometimes annoying) lines that pop up on your camera when you're taking a photo. A photographic composition principle says an image should be broken down into thirds, both horizontally and vertically, so you have nine parts in total. If you place points of interest in these intersections or along the lines, your photo will be more balanced, level, and allow viewers to interact with it more naturally.⁣ -iPhone: Go to "Settings," choose "Photos & Camera," and switch "Grid" on.⁣ -Samsung Galaxy: Launch the camera app, go to "Settings," scroll down and switch the "grid lines" option to "on."⁣ 2.) Focus.⁣ Smartphone cameras automatically focus on the foreground, but not every picture you take will have an obvious subject. To adjust where you want to focus, open your camera and tap the screen where you want to sharpen the view. Spend some extra time setting up the shot. Some professional photographers say that the subject shouldn't fill the whole frame.⁣ 3.) Embrace the Negative.⁣ Not something you see every day, and in life, it would be the opposite — Embrace the positive. In photography, however, "negative space" refers to the areas around and between the subjects of an image that can take a photo from good to great. About two-thirds of the photo should be negative space to help the subject stand out.⁣ 4.) Zoom, Zoom, Zoom.⁣ When you take a photo from a distance, it's tempting to zoom in on specifically what you're trying to capture. It's actually better not to zoom in. Doing so can make the photo appear grainy, blurry, and pixelated. Try to get closer to your subject, unless it's a wild animal, in which case we would advise keeping your distance. Anxiety seems to be a common factor in most lives these days. Sometimes it feels like an epic fail to be anxious, but trust us, anxiety is just another opportunity for victory! Here are a few practical things to keep in mind as you become the master of your anxiety:⁣ ⁣ 1.) Know that feelings are not facts.⁣ ⁣ Negative thoughts cause negative feelings. This one's tricky, because many of our negative thoughts are automatic, deeply internalized, and rooted in the unconscious. Knowing, however, that a feeling is not fact can give you some peace when your feelings are a little out of control.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 2.) Practice gratitude.⁣ ⁣ As bad as your situation is, there's always something to be thankful for. Make a mental or physical note of the positive things in your life. Remember that everything in life is temporary—the good, the bad, and the Tuesdays.⁣ ⁣ 3.) Accept your anxiety.⁣ ⁣ Whether you inherited the "anxiety genes" from your parents, or it's your lifestyle, or both — accept your anxiety.⁣ It's not about giving up. ⁣ Do you want a life you are excited about, one that gets you up in the morning and keeps you going all day long? Of course you do! Who doesn’t want that? I think the question we want to the answer to is 𝐡𝐨𝐰 we get a life like that. We all have to work, pay bills, keep up with home and vehicle maintenance, but where is the spark? Where is the adventure? Where is the part you get really excited about?⁣ A lot of us grow up with families who expect us to go to college, get a degree, and use that degree to land us a nine-to-five job. This leaves a lot of us feeling stuck, and like we cannot or should not trust what we think might thrill us. I had become so programmed to do and become someone I was not, I really had to take a step back and look deep inside of myself. I was scared. We sometimes have to walk away from everything we have become to be who we really want to be. We have to be strong. It is going to require courage. If you spend more of your time unhappy than you do feeling fulfilled and inspired, you probably need to reevaluate your life.⁣ Start by gauging how fulfilled you feel at the end of your day. If your answer is that you do not feel fulfilled, you may want to consider a new path.⁣ Check your values! If your life doesn’t line up to your values, it will be very difficult to love your life. Whatever does not line up to your values needs to be cast away.⁣ Put yourself out there! Do something new. Have you always wanted to try hot yoga, or making balloon animals — DO IT! If your life is stagnant, it will not be exciting.⁣ Serve others. This may not seem like something that will make you jump out of bed in the morning, but serving others is the fastest route to true and lasting joy.⁣ Spend time outside. You don’t have to be an outdoorsy person, but going for a little stroll, or sitting on your porch can bring a new kind of relaxation and happiness to your life.⁣ Basically, you will need to spring clean your life! Get rid of whatever doesn’t belong, and add things that “Spark Joy,” as Marie Kondo would say. A huge group of 633 Eco-friendly scuba divers just set the Guinness World Record for the largest underwater cleanup. Last week at Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier in Florida, they got their swim gear on so they could pick up waste from the ocean floor. They collected an astounding 1626 pounds of trash and 60 pounds of fishing line. City officials say they will be recycling and disposing of all the ocean waste accordingly. The previous world record for the largest underwater cleanup was set in Egypt back in 2015 with 614 divers, but the this group said they’re simply happy to do their part in cleaning up the sea. There are countless reasons why we should care about our oceans. The ocean is the largest ecosystem on Earth, with about 700,000 to a million different species. More than half of these have yet to be identified, named, or described yet. It is the planet’s life support system. The oceans generate about half of the oxygen we breathe and, at any given moment, they contain more than 97% of the world’s water. When water evaporates from the ocean and the clouds come in, rain falls and gives life to everything. This water creates forests, plants, fruits, and vegetables. We’ve all taken a science class in our lives and learned that sunlight and water are what create sustainable life on earth. Without the oceans we would not have nearly enough water to sustain our way of life. How can you make sure your social profiles are hire ready?⁣ ⁣ You should do an overview of all your pictures. Yes, this does include any photos you are tagged in. ⁣ ⁣ Most employers are looking for reasons to hire someone, not the other way around. Employers look at social media accounts for plenty of reasons, but many employers want to make sure a candidate will be a good fit with their company. They want someone who appears qualified, professional, and creative.⁣ ⁣ While the majority of employers may not be looking for reasons not to hire, the following things could prevent them from choosing you: Provocative or inappropriate photographs, videos or information (this includes what you share from other pages), posting about drug usage, discriminative comments, poor communication skills (do a spell check), bad-mouthing previous workplaces or fellow employees - things of that nature. ⁣ ⁣ None of this means you can’t post those cat videos we all love, but keep in mind that the things you do on social media could actually help you get hired — or fired.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ BONUS: Don’t think you’re off the hook once you’ve been hired!
