Blonde Chocolate, a delicious treat created by mistake
The so-called ā€œblonde chocolateā€ has yet to reach the popularity of its counterparts milk, dark, and white chocolate, but it is already recognized as one of the most ingenious variations of white chocolate ever made. Its history can be traced back to the year 2004, when French pastry chef Frederic Bau was busy showing off his skills during an exhibition in Japan. Apparently he got so carried awayā€¦

Spain has almost 2000 kilometers of land borders with Portugal and France, but also much smaller borders with countries like Andorra, the United Kingdom, more precisely Gibraltar, and the African nation of Morocco. Forgotten Giants - six beautiful wooden giants hidden around Copenhagen.
Ok. Probably hiding giants is a TALL order. However Thomas Dambo, an artist who specializes in reclaimed and recycled materials, has managed to hide six in the area around Copenhagen. And also the Forgotten Giants are no exception to this method, created from scrap wood collected from old, demolished buildings and felled trees. The sculptures were deliberately placed off the beaten track, aroundā€¦

A short trip to Kilmuir Cemetery at Isle of Skye, Scotland
An unpaid bill, a stolen stone, and a famous fashion designer rest peacefully alongside a heroine of Highlands history. This is, in short, Kilmuir Cemetery, in the quaint Isle of Skye, Scotland. Well, most visitors to the site are there for the latter, Flora MacDonald, and the Celtic cross on her memorial fittingly dominates the view. Dubbed not by chance the ā€œHeroine of the Highlands,ā€ she wasā€¦

Rue Obscure, a medieval military street hidden beneath a charming French fishing village
A hidden medieval street stretches beneath the old quarter of Villefranche-sur-Mer, a French fishing village created by Charles II of Anjou, Count of Provence in 1295. The only light to bathe its old stone walls and illuminate its arches comes from the artificial glow of a lamp or maybe from a fleeting flash from a someoneā€™s phone. In fact, as its name suggests, the ā€œRue Obscureā€ is reallyā€¦

Discover the lost tradition of playing ball in church to celebrate easter!
In the nave of Chartres Cathedral, in the Centre-Val de Loire region in France and about 90 km southwest of Paris, the stones of the floor were arranged, already hundreds of years ago, to form a curious flat labyrinth with paths large enough for a person to walk its full winding course. In medieval times, labyrinths represented a union of art and design with a cosmological worldview, suggesting aā€¦

Prince Frederickā€™s chapel - a haunting (and maybe haunted) chapel ruins in South Carolina's woods
Is there anything more hauntingly beautiful than the dusty ruins of a 19th century gothic church? South Carolina has more of them than you can imagine, including the ruins of Old Gunn Church, or Prince Frederickā€™s chapel, in Plantersville. Ok, today it looks a little bit creepy, even if you donā€™t believe in ghosts but, believe it or not, it began with a bout of optimism. It was November 1859,ā€¦

Donner Pass Summit abandoned tunnels: one of the creepiest hike in Northern California
The now-abandoned tunnels were built for the transcontinental railroad on the route where the first wagon train entered California.
Theodore Judah had a dream: build a railroad through the Central Pacific, routed via the Sierra Nevada mountains. It was the mid-19th century when the civil engineer surveyed a large stretch of the route to be used, also finding funds to make the transcontinental railroad a reality. The tunnels at Donner Pass were constructed by Chinese laborers and took more than 15 months of hard work toā€¦
