When David discovers Gwen, instead of deleting her, he let's max go because not only is Gwen able to help him see when test subjects are truly distressed and he sees that max deserves freedom, but because he has a friend with him now

I’ve seen references to something along the lines this but haven’t seen it fully developed so I tried my hand at it (it’s very angsty I hope you like it)

Okay so!

Portal Portal but it takes place after the events of Camp Camp.

Aperture science bought the camp and very

quietly took everyone there and covered it up.

They wanted to use the kids as test subjects but had to put them in cryosleep so a testing initiative could be developed. Gwen was labeled as “too un-motivated” and put in cryosleep aswell but would not be used as a test subject.

Aperture realized how enthusiastic David was about learning and figured they could probably use him for the testing initiative; However, he was rather uncooperative seeing as how they were kidnapped. Taking the blue sky approach David was converted into an ai and altered to be more enthusiastic about the aperture cause. They erased his memories to prevent him from going insane (as you do) and replaced his love of camping with that of testing.

Waking up the children and putting them into the new testing initiative, aperture soon realized that leaving them with their memories of the camp and David probably wasn’t the best idea. It had been assumed that the encouragement of their old counselor would provide the kids with extra motivation for testing (DaVID was programmed not to inform them about the fact that he didn’t know them.) Instead, the children were so chaotic in their rebellions that they caused more damage than good to the scientific method. A certain child, by the name of Max, was considered so unruly that he had been labeled as “too stubborn”, taken off the initiative, and put into cryosleep indefinitely. To add to their troubles no matter what they did DaVID still refused to risk the kids lives in any way (it’s not that easy to remove one’s humanity.) in short, all test data was pretty much unusable. The rest of the kids were put into temporary stasis until Aperture had fixed the issues.

Aperture erased the all the kid’s memories of their prior lives to (hopefully) stop rebellion and went to the drawing board with DaVID. One of their attempts included taking out Gwen and using her as a voice for him to follow all test peramiters exactly. This, clearly, did not go well.

Eventually Aperture found Daniel, a sadistic cultist hell-bent on destroying David and the campers. Promising Daniel a chance at revenge they turned him into the Morality Dampening Sphere, also known as the Cult Core. This, went terribly. When they turned DaVID on with the newley installed Cult Core as an event during the first annual “bring your daughter to work day” Daniel managed to convince DaVID to flood the Facility with a highly concentrated dose of Laughing Gas, killing every scientist.

Eventually the Cult Core was removed. DaVID’s memories of the scenario and knowledge of what is considered dangerous or uncomfortable to humans became corrupted and inacessable. Gwen stuck around but she faded to a background voice in the mainframe. DaVID one by one woke up the test subjects and tested them until they died of old age, exhaustion, or the many deadly elements Daniel and managed to leave behind in the chambers. DaVID did feel guilty when they died, preserving their minds in cores and turrets, and putting their bodies into little cubes with hearts on them

after decades, maybe centuries, the only remaining subject, max, was awoken and the testing began again.

Wait why did people think you're an ass? Is there some drama I missed?

Nah, there hasn’t been any public drama, it’s more private interpersonal stuff, I’m assuming. (Unless someone just really hates me based on the content I make lol, which is fine) Like I said before, I can count around two to three people (counting angry friends) who have “calling you an ass on anon” vindictive tendencies towards me on my fingers. Most of these things happened years ago before I started backing off trying to make friends with literally everyone I met online. And I think they’re just expressing hurt at how I had to cut off contact. I wish better for them if that’s the case, and want to assure there’s no ill will.

Depends on what you call being an ass, I guess. The only people I can think of who were angry at me online in the past were people who were mad I broke off contact. Still don’t hate them, though. That’s just how it gotta be.

Hope whatever pain you’re in heals, anon. Haven’t met anyone online that I hold a grudge against. People I probably shouldn’t talk to for my mental health, sure, but no hate.
