I have so many thoughts about traditional published books right now.

I need to share this one.

In my country, yesterday was „Tag des Buches“ means „Day of the book“, and what did I do? As a person moving around in fandom? I read a fic. An amazing fic btw. A fic I wouldn’t even know it existed if not someone, maybe the author theirself, had send me the link of the fic over tumblr when I posted the first chapter of my own fic last year.

So, I’m reading this fic now.

This amazing, beautiful, sweet, romantic as hell, deeply lovebale fic about Dean and Cas located in Omegaverse.

And while I’m reading it and deeply fell in love with the story, I found out, just in the middle of the fic, that the author wrote 3 other stories from different POV‘s, which you can read in the middle of their fic, as a junction if you so will to get other perspectives to dive more deeply into the story itself.

First, I was sceptical, to be honest. Conditined on „how to read“ and „what you have to read“, which I learned over the last years, but definitely since I’m in fandom, to finally question what I expect and want from stories, I was forced to either read an „incomplete“ story or just do it, and read this junction, which isn’t a big thing per so, you could say OR it means a world, a milestone of how storytelling is working.

Because if I‘m completely honest with myself, when I read a traditional published book, a book I‘m deeply in love with, a book I want to read a second time or more, I miss other POVs sometimes.

Now I wonder if this is the reason (or might be one reason) why I read these novels more than once in the first place. To find a glimpse, just a small sign of another perspective in the story.

I understand, thats one, if not THE reason why people start writing fanfics anyway: to give themselves (and others) another perspective of a movie, a show, a book they like.

Here: it’s the author theirselve doing this and I‘m thrilled, fascinated, enlightened, whatever word you would use to describe this emoji: 🤯

It’s mindblowing finding this out in a non traditional published fic. A fic I deeply love.

There are other ways of telling stories and I guess the options are endless!

2.My total wordcount for English fanfic is 249.825 and for German: 101001 (funny number, but, it’s correct 🤓)

3.My fandom is Supernatural. I‘m a 100%destielshipper (while I‘m trying to establish some ships which includes side characters like Gordon Walker or Ellen Harvelle🥰) AND I wrote a mashup, so technically I have another fandom: It’s a wonderful life (1946)

4.My top 5 by kudos are: 1.Boxed in (in the box of truth),2.Thursday is for the lonely people,3.The Holiday Episode,4.Damn Witch!, 5. Having Scars (…with the amount of 13 kudos 🫣)

6. I don’t get too much comments anyway, so yes, I totally can afford the time to answer them. 🥸 I furthermore think, it’s a matter of mutual respect to answer comments in general. I like to write comments too. Whenever I read a good written fic and/or a sweet fic, when I see there‘s a person who laid their heart in their work, me, as a reader I feel the need to say „Thank you“ to give me that.

For me, this is fandom. To be in contact with the writers.

7. The happiest ending? That’s simple: Thursday is for the lonely people!! It’s a Christmas fic, so it needs to have a happy ending, otherwise I would have been a cheater, but, yeah, definitely Thursday!!

8. Yeah. I had two Trolls on Having Scars. One was devastating, mean and unfair, the other one made me write „Thursday…“ AND made me rewrite „Having Scars“, which was one of my best decisions EVER!

9. Smut… Yeah, I write smut: On Having Scars, there are two smut chapters with explicit smut inside, and right now I‘m working on my first BDSM story 🥳

10. I wrote a mashup between Supernatural and It’s a wonderful life, so - yes, but I wouldn’t say this is what I generally would like to do. My fandom is Supernatural and I ship destiel. That’s my thing.

11. Nobody steel my stuff. I barely have readers.

12. 3 of my fics are translations. I‘m German

13.No I never have cowritten a fic. I‘m a loner basically

14. My all time favorite ship? Simple: Destiel 💚💙

15. Everything I start I will end. Otherwise my brain will be blocked with an unfinished fic and my head starts scratching me. ☹️

16. My writing strengths? I work my ass off. That’s my strength. I need my sentences to be as perfect as they can be. I ask for help and work with Betareaders (and totally appreciate their amount of help! What they are doing is amazing!)

I could rewrite and rewrite the whole day long, just to get a paragraph fixed.

I do a lot of research. As much as the text needs.

I‘m aware that me and my ego is unimportant compared with the text itself.

My writing strength is, that when I‘m writing a fic, all my senses, whatever I‘m doing, is nothing compared with the fic in my head that needs to be written down.

17. My writing weekness I would say is that my origin language is German. I mostly write my texts in my mothers tongue, because I can express myself more better in this language and than I translate it. This takes time. I‘m grateful to have Betareaders who don’t complain in checking my grammar.

If I could turn back time I wished I could have been more focused in learning German Grammar AND to learn better English as well.

18. Does Scottish count as another language? I also put some German words here and there in „Thursday…“ Playing with different languages is kind of my secret kink I would say.

19. First and last fandom of my heart: Supernatural 💚💙

20. My fics are so much under the radar. At least I know they are existing, but to name one them? I can’t choose one. They are my baby‘s, my heart and soul.

I‘m so damn proud of „Thursday is for the lonely people“ and I personally think I wrote a real good fic. I „nailed“ it I would say. And than came „Having Scars“ around, which is not as perfect as Thursday I think, because of the difficult start, but I worked my ass off for this fic and my Betareader‘s (god bless them! 😇) were so supportive! So, yeah, I would like to name „Having Scars“ as well.

I learned so much about me during the writing process of Having Scars and Thursday… and this is my personal highlight.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Only if I have a comprehensive online dictionary I can use and even then I only do dead languages that will be less jarring to readers if I get grammar wrong

19. First fandom you wrote for? I am very not proud of it but I wrote a (now orphaned) DSMP fic back in april 2022 that is one of the cringiest fics I have ever wrote

It’s true that, originally, Cas only rebelled in one universe. But it’s not true anymore.

The second that story was shown to us, countless amounts of Fanfiction, Fanart, and literally just thoughts, created new realities. The love Cas expressed was so powerful and beautiful that it inspired us to bring more universes into being.

Every time a fanfiction is written, Cas rebels again. Every time fanart is drawn, Cas loves again. Every time an idea is thought up, Cas feels again.

And maybe one day, those will outnumber the ones where he obeys, if it doesn’t already.

being in the supernatural fandom is so funny. there are pages-long essays about characterization, metaphors and picture. there is a lot of crack. the fandom is divided whether you ship world's biggest age gap or incest. one of the main actors has an ao3 account and has probably read the fanfiction. another one of the main cast made his own fanfaction and turn it into a tv show. your favourite characters dies, you laugh bc it wont last, the stay dead for a little bit too long and you start to get worry, they get resurrected and damn, these writers dont know when to stop, its the third time they died and came back, fucking commit to it. we all hate the writers and producers. literally invented queerbait and we all fell for it. a random character from a totally unrelated show is canon bisexual and wow, we are trending. you want to defend your fav character and your main obstacle is your fav character (you gaslight yourself into "all fault is on the writers not my baby"). we out-trended the us elections and contine to trend on every anniversary of that day. we discuss which season is the best like they arent a recycled plot we already seen. the show was meant appel to conservaties and the fandom is made of gay people somehow. the main characters are alcoholic murderers that do extremely questionable stuff every season and we love them for it. someone outside the spn fandom finds out you are in and they look at you like you are insane and you cant even blame them.

The Selbstbestimmungsgesetz (self-identify law) allows trans and intersex people to change their name and gender in the civil registry much more easily than before by submitting a self-disclosure form. This will be possible starting on the 1. November 2024 while the self-disclosure forms can be submitted as early as 1. August 2024 because of the 3 month waiting period in the law. After a name and gender change the person will be barred from changing it again for one year. People of ages 14-17 will need the approval of a legal guardian to change their gender and name while for children under 14 the legal guardians can submit a form for the change.

it's funny how much more blatantly ROMANTIC Dean and Cas' relationship gets when you compare it to the relationship between Cas and Sam. 

Just this simple comparison that highlights the stark difference between these two bonds makes one go: oh...
