The Island of Sea Women Review: Resilience, Friendship & Tradition
This book has taught me more about women hood, resilience, joy and gratitude of living, than any other I have read before. Photo by: NOLITETHOUGHTS I am so so happy that I have found an author whose work I can follow from now on. Last year there were many like the amazing Leah Angstman (Shoot the Horses First), the brilliant Pip Williams (The Dictionary of Lost Words), the magical Laura Purcell…

Reading and Writing Journey; Weekly Thoughts#1
Weekly Thoughts #1 Hi Folks, This is my first Weekly Thoughts to post and I’m just trying out new things to see and feel how they evolve with time. I would also like to let people in (if they are interested) to witness my ‘fight’ with writer’s block that’s been going on for some time now (approx. 16 years) There are some things that I would like to try out and see if they have any effect on…

November Reading List #7
the long way to a small angry planet by Becky Chambers
The first book of the Wayfarers series and I'm pumped up to start a new science-fiction journey after (and in between) the Expanse. By the way I saw that a new series is coming from them so I feel like 2024 is going to be a good year regarding books and games too.
I love the fact that first this novel was self-published by a Kickstarter campaign and I also love how the author basically grew up to be a science-fiction author. To my little Astronomy and Planetary Science undergrad self with writing ambitions this is way more meaningful than just simply being inspirational.

Demon Copperfield by Barbara Kingsolver
The Winner of the Women’s Prize for Fiction,2023. One of the members of my never ending to be read pile and I bought it as an ebook in November.
Reading its synopsis made me aware that it is probably going to be an emotionally turbulent story for me to engage with. Which usually makes me feel unprepared and uneasy, but I also know that these types of books help me to get over a few complicated and traumatic events coming from my life so I should embrace it instead of being afraid of it.

November Reading List #8
What you are looking for is in the library by Michiko Aoyama and translated by Alison Watts
I have actually received this book as a gift from my other half and I wasn’t expecting from him to know me this well. I was very happy when I saw it and I can’t wait to get to it at some point in my life.
It’s an uplifting coming-of-age story which I haven’t read much in these past months so it is needed by now. The book is centered in Tokyo, in a library, where Sayuri Komachi, a librarian with amazing people-reading skills, recommends just the perfect book to each of her visitors. Reminds me of the bartenders who always know what drink you should have based on your actual misery mixed with your personality.

November Reading List #5
Hokusai Art Book; Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji
I think Hokusai came back into people’s lives and minds in the past few years. His print can be seen everywhere from book covers to tote bags even sneakers you can basically find it everywhere.
Personally, I have a kindle cover and a tote bag so I’m not an exception either. But what I don’t have is proper knowledge about his work so when I saw this book I really wanted to know more about Hokusai’s art and also about Mt. Fuji or Fuji-San as I call it myself as well.
If you are interested in another but I think even more interesting version of Hokusai’s art follow the link above.
Happy Reading!

Unveiling the Soul: A Journey Through Alan Rickman's Diaries
I’m putting a mild spoiler warning because I plan to be honest, raw, and from the gut in my review. Without any constraints so if you thought about picking up the book but you don’t want to know anything about it, please read forward keeping this in mind. Photo by: NOLITETHOUGHTS I want to do it in an unrefined way to honour his memory and to reach back to the part in me who was living and…

November Reading List #3
And I'm embarking on the long-awaited journey of reading Brandon Sanderson. What made me realise I want to, have to, must read his books?
His lecture series on creative writing on youtube.
He was the only one who actually opened up my eyes as to why I am struggling with writer’s block so much.
Actually, I’m going to write about this a bit more in detail on my website, when it’s ready.
Probably, knowing how busy I am with life in general, by the time I finish READING Elantris, he will finish another 5 and simultaneously, help to finish another 3 author’s series as well, while he host 4 podcasts, teaches a few more generations of pupils and probably sail away with the elves in the end. And I would love to have a ticket for that ship myself as well.
I was seriously invested in the thought process as to how, from which book should I start to dip my little toe in his ocean of words, and I have decided that it is best to start chronologically. Why? Because I am curious as to how he as an author evolved, and evolves through time. So if I read the info correctly on the net, I’m supposed to start with Elantris. So here we are.

November Reading List #2
The Wind Knows My Name by Isabel Allende
I have actually got this book as a gift from my other half, so I’m extremely excited about it. There is nothing better than getting a book as a gift. Not knowing about what lies under the wrapping paper, the anticipation for the unknown. To see what other people would think I would love to read, or even better when they give me a book that they would love to put their teeth into.
“The Wind Knows My Name” is a powerful and poignant novel from the author of ‘A Long Petal Of The Sea’, masterfully intertwining the lives of two children, from different backgrounds and historical times, who are connected by the traumas of war and immigration.
If you are interested about the book, head to my bio, and check out the November Reads link. It shows all the books I have read or was interested in reading in that month.

November Reading List #1
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
This haul was a complete impulse buy and I don’t regret it.
I adore small pocket books, one of my all-time wishlist items is a leather pocket version of the LOTR and the Hobbit altogether.
Also, I really need to step up my classical reading skills which were pretty discouraging these past years.
This little book fits my small hand perfectly, and it has a hard cover which is just perfect. It also has a fabric bookmark which matches the pale blue colour of the dust cover, and! the hard cover, it has illustrations and gold sprayed edges.
I mean I want to open a shop where I re-print all my favourite books in this manner. Heaven, paradise, parallel universes unite!

Changeling by Matt Wesolovski
Autumn is here. Cosy weather, fluffy socks, hot chocolate and a good horror book are what I usually need for the season to officially kick off for me.  Photo by: NOLITETHOUGHTS This time I have chosen Matt Wesolowski’s third six stories book: Changeling. I have read many praises about him and how good his books are so I gave in to the temptation and I chose this particular book mainly I have to…

Greek Lessons by Han Kang
Tumblr media
✨🔷⚪️ Greek Lessons by Han Kang and translated by Deborah Smith and Emily Yae Won is finally here. I got the first signed edition (swipe for the signature) because I am a signature loving creature. It’s a must. This time it is from @toppingsedin because they put a little rain coat 🧥 on the dust cover and I appreciate the love to keep the books in their pristine condition. It happened before that I got delivered a book and by the time I have managed to bring it inside it was a lettuce because of the rain. Mind you it was my fault because I ask them to leave it at the back door. She is still alive but I’m talking about a 600 pages long chunky bk turn into a whole garden salad after drying. I’m too scared to read it just in case the whole book disintegrates in my hands. So yeah… 😮‍💨
Back to the book: The synopsis is captivating. “In a classroom in Seoul, a young woman watches her Greek language teacher at the blackboard. She tries to speak but has lost her voice. Her teacher finds himself drawn to the silent woman, for day by day he is losing his sight.
Soon they discover a deeper pain binds them. For her, in the space of just a few months, she has lost both her mother and the custody battle for her nine-year-old son. For him, it's the pain of growing up between Korea and Germany, being torn between two cultures and languages.” From @penguinukbooks
Also it has fairly small dimensions so if you love #koreanlit but maybe you don’t want to commit to read something massive. Or you don’t have much time on your hands but you still want to engage in the beautiful process of reading, I highly recommend it.
