At first, I was kinda mad about how the pjo show was making percy seem a little too perfect like during the lotus casino scene. But it just occurred to me that he was always like this. Percy was never dumb, he just thinks he is. In other words, percy in the books is an unreliable narrator.

The show displays his adventures in the third person and we see how smart and powerful he is. But in the books, percy's low self confidence results in him believing he is not enough.

Not annabeth thinking she could pickpocket the god of thieves without him knowing. I just love how the show is really expanding on each of the character's fatal flaws. And also, WHO THOUGHT PERCY WAS THE RIGHT PERSON TO DRIVE?! well, it does make sense that the new yorker is most fitting to drive and crash a taxi.

I think I got my hopes up about percy receiving 4 pearls instead of 3. I swear if this kid does something stupid next episode, i will hide in my closet and never come back out. Rick is an amazing writer but doesn't he just love to see us suffer.

there’s something strangely gutwrenching about the solstice having already passed. there have been minor changes in the “side adventures” of the trio.

they know they’re entering medusa’s house. they go to the arch for sanctuary against echidna and chimera. they go to waterland to help ares and convince hephaestus to stop being like his family. they go to the lotus hotel to get help from hermes.

in the books they’re getting tricked and distracted and losing all of that time on their quest was an accident. but they still made it in the end.

but in the show? they did everything right. they were aware of where they were at all times. but then they go and ask for help.

they try to ask for athena’s help and she lets monsters into her temple because they “embarrassed her.” they try to ask for hermes’ help but he doesn’t tell them until it’s too late that the lotus hotel messes with time.

they basically did everything right on their quest only for their biggest failures to occur because of the gods.

but poseidon gives him four pearls. four, instead of three. one for sally too. but we already know that she gets left behind.

they tried so hard only for the deadline to lapse.

A little mistake that rick riordan made in the book is that he thought the gateway arch overlooked the mississippi river. But in fact the arch and the river were separated by a highway, thus Percy would have fallen much farther away.

It was so cool how in the show poseidon saves percy by allowing a jet of water to guide him into the river. Just shows how this adaptation has thought everything though and is building on the original books to make the entire series a million times better.

My opinion might be a bit controversial, but does anyone else feel uncomfortable shipping percabeth in the first season of the new tv show?? Look, i 100% support percabeth but the characters are 12 in the show! They're kids and it feels so wrong to obsess about shipping them together. Percy and Annabeth are soulmates but as a fandom can we talk about other things? Right now can we stay in the present and admire a blossoming friendship instead of a slow burn romance?

You're ten and you just picked up a book about the Greek Gods and you don't really like reading or you love it too much but you adore the book because look, it's me! It's me, a kid who doesn't do their best in school and has a sucky dad and a sad mom, and look! So does this guy!

So you tear through the series and watch the movies, and they suck. They're just not right and it made you sad, but now you're in middle school, and look! There's a whole other series about the same characters! And a musical and people online love this series as much as you do, and what's Tumblr? What's Wattpad? And there are your characters, in whole new stories!

And now you own the whole series, can recite all the myths, but you're moving on, it's almost high school, life gets in the way, but you still go back sometimes, just to remember.

And now it's high school and there's all these people you don't know and things to learn and a life to plan, and you're getting tired even though things just started.

And then it's the weirdest year of your life and you haven't seen anyone and everything is just a mess. Maybe you're still in school, maybe you just left, but one night, there's an announcement?? And the author of that series you loved is saying that you loved it enough to make a series??

You don't believe it, of course you don't, it's been a year of canceled projects, and you haven't heard anything for a while. But then, out of nowhere, there's a casting announcement and those characters in your head have real life faces, and maybe they don't look quite how they're supposed to, but it's them.

So now you believe it, but things are still going so slow, so it's easy to forget, but then there's a teaser! And it makes you want to cry because there are words that have only been in your head being said out loud and it happening! It's really happening! But there's still such a long wait and it seems like it'll never happen.

And then there's a trailer, a real one, and posters and a release date for this year??

But it's still so long, so you reread all those books that made your childhood, until everything is fresh.

And then it's a month.

A week.

And now it's tomorrow.

It's tomorrow and you can't wait. It's tomorrow and you're terrified. It's tomorrow and everything is different from what it was ten years ago, and you're such a different person, but how can that matter when you're so excited?

Because you won. We all won. And tomorrow, everything is different because you're not just wishing, not just hoping, but living.

So here's to us, demigods. We won.

The worst thing about being a female athlete is that no one will come to watch your school's field hockey team that has never lost a game. But everyone will watch the boy's football team lose 50-0. It sucks when it's more impressive to be a bench warmer on football than for a girl to captain or start on for multiple sports.

I could not imagine anyone better to play annabeth in the new pjo tv show. I knew that leah was not a book accurate reflection of annabeth but I decided to trust uncle rick. As a person of color, i did have doubts about leah and I feel so guilty that I thought such things about her because leah is annabeth on and off screen. Book annabeth struggled with the dumb-blond stereotype. Thus, she needed to constantly prove herself through her intelligence and power. She was big inspiration to many young girls who saw themselves in annabeth. In this modern day, the circumstances are different. The TV annabeth struggles with stereotypes regarding her skin color. THIS IS WHY DIVERSITY IS SO IMPORTANT IN MODERN DAY MEDIA.
