Festive Holiday Decorating Ideas in Red, Green, and Gold
Red, green, and gold are a classic holiday color palette that can create a festive and inviting atmosphere. These colors are associated with the holiday season: they are bright, cheerful, and warm.
The colors of nature. Red is the color of ripe berries, green is the color of evergreen trees, and gold is the color of sunlight. These colors evoke a sense of nature and the natural world, often associated with the holiday season.
Festive and joyous. Red is a bold and energetic color, green is a calming and peaceful color, and gold is a luxurious and glamorous color. Together, these colors create a sense of celebration and joy.
Traditional and timeless. Red, green, and gold have been used to decorate for the holidays for centuries. This traditional color palette is associated with the nostalgia and warmth of the holiday season.
In addition to their aesthetic appeal, red, green, and gold are symbolic in many cultures.
Red is often associated with love, passion, and excitement. It is also the color of Santa's suit, making it a popular holiday decoration choice.
Green is often associated with nature, growth, and new beginnings. It is also the color of the Christmas tree, which is a symbol of hope and life.
Gold is often associated with wealth, prosperity, and royalty. It is also the color of the Star of Bethlehem, which symbolizes the birth of Jesus Christ.
When used together, red, green, and gold create a festive and inviting atmosphere perfect for celebrating the holiday season. These classic colors can decorate your home, Christmas tree, and holiday table.
When decorating for the holidays using red, green, and gold, it's important to balance the colors. You don't want your décor to be too overwhelming, so it's a good idea to use one color as the dominant color and the other as accents. For example, you could decorate a tree with gold ribbon and ornaments and then add your other colors using throw pillows or even when wrapping your presents.
When designing your holiday décor using these colors, there are a few things to keep in mind:
Balance the colors. You don't want your holiday décor to be too overwhelming, so balancing the red, green, and gold is important. A good rule of thumb is to use 60% of one color and 40% of the other. For example, you could use a red tablecloth with green and gold accents or a gold Christmas tree with red and green ornaments.
Use different shades of red, green, and gold. There are many shades of red, green, and gold, so don't be afraid to mix and match. For example, you could use a deep burgundy red with metallic gold and a bright lime green or a matte gold with forest green and cherry red.
Add texture. Adding different textures to your holiday décor can make it more visually attractive. For example, you could use a velvet red throw pillow with a gold sequin cushion and a fluffy green blanket or a matte gold vase with a glossy red hurricane candle holder and a wooden bowl of green pine cones.
Remember the details. The little details can make a big difference when decorating for the holidays. For example, add a red and gold ribbon to your Christmas wreath or place a green candy bowl on your coffee table.
All The Little Details
This present with an oversized velvet bow is such a showstopper. It’s elegant and adds the pop of color you want. Placed on a tablescape or under a tree, it brings a big bold color to your design.
Here is a simple dessert dish with a hand-made ornament and a velvet bow wrapped around the vase with winterberries.
Using festive colors of red, green, and gold can be displayed in your dessert or dinner presentations. What child or adult doesn’t love candy canes or Santa chocolates. This simple charcuterie board works perfectly for a festive dessert tray.
This charcuterie board has red, green, and gold in it by adding holiday cookies, tiny gold ornaments and other delicious treats.
Beautiful red roses in this centerpiece holds evergreens that creates a elegant wow factor to your table design. Add winterberries and gold ornaments to give it an sophisticated look and feel.
"Dining with one's friends and beloved family is certainly one of life's primal and most innocent delights, one that is both soul-satisfying and eternal. "  -- Julia Child
Table Décor
A gold charger on top of a fabric placemat adds contrast and a festive look and feel. It adds a layer of texture and color to your tablescape. You can choose a red tablecloth or table runner or a different color or pattern to add some contrast.
Red ribbons to tie the holiday napkin add a little unexpected detail.
The added detail of using a beaded runner with simple winterberries, small gold ornaments, and some evergreen adds festive touches and elegance to the tablescape.
Beautiful white and gold mixed with touches of red go a long way when designing a tablescape for the holidays. The base color palette is gold and white allowing for adding other pops of color.
In this tablescape, evergreens were placed in the middle of the table to give it a natural feel and additional color.
Christmas Tree
A red, green, and gold Christmas tree is a classic holiday look. You can decorate your tree with red, green, and gold ornaments, garland, and ribbon. You can also add some white, silver, and blue ornaments and lights to create a contrasting effect.
Here is an example of adding an additional color to your red, green, and gold decor. Blue is such a lovely contrast and brings another dimension of depth to the design.
Ribbon is always my go to for decorating for the holidays. I love this red silk ribbon with gold applique on it. I also added another ribbon that was a green, red, and gold tartan. Of course, I love ornaments of all kinds. This is one of my favorites.
The angle tree topper is a vintage Lenox that has been used every year since I was first married.
Mantel Décor
Decorate your mantel with red, green, and gold stockings, garland, and ornaments. You can also add a wreath or mirror above the mantel.
"The true spirit of the holidays is love. "  -- MERZE Lifestyle
Natural Elements
Using natural elements such as pine cones, holly, and berries, can add a touch of elegance to your holiday décor. You can use these elements in your wreaths, centerpieces, and garlands.
Front Door Décor
Hang a red, green, and gold wreath on your front door to welcome guests to your home. You can also place a pair of red and green planters on either side of your door.
This beautiful wreath is from Riverside Nursery in Collinsville, CT. I love the evergreen wreath with light gold ribbon against the red door.
Festive Home Bar
Bring in colors of the season using fresh ingredients for your beverages. Cranberries and rosemary are always great choices.
Festive details such as decorative drink coasters is aways a good idea. They add instant cheer and color to your bar.
"Be able to set a table so that you feel like you're dining, not just sitting and eating. "  -- Marilyn vos Savant
Here are some final thoughts on festive holiday decorating ideas using red, green, and gold:
Don't be afraid to mix and match.
Use natural elements.
Don't forget the outside.
No matter how you choose to decorate, the most important thing is to have fun and create a space that you and your loved ones can enjoy during the holiday season.
Here is a bonus tip: If you have any pets, be sure to keep them in mind when decorating. Avoid using any decorations that could be harmful to them, such as small ornaments or tinsel. Instead, opt for pet-friendly decorations such as chew toys or special treats.
With a little planning and creativity, you can create a festive and inviting holiday home using the classic colors of red, green, and gold.
"May your home be a place where friends meet, family gathers, and love grows. "  -- Anonymous

Larkmead Vineyard: A Hidden Gem in Napa Valley
Larkmead Vineyard is a Napa Valley oasis for relaxation, wine tasting, and scenic beauty. It is a hidden gem in Napa Valley. It is a small, family-owned winery in the heart of the valley. The winery is known for its elegant and complex wines, its beautiful estate, and its warm hospitality.
I’ve visited many wineries in Napa Valley for a few years now, and although the wine is always amazing and certainly a beautiful destination, it can get quite busy, especially during the summer months. However, there's one winery that I've fallen in love with: Larkmead Vineyard.
It's uncrowned on purpose, the staff is delightful, and the wine and scenery are amazing. It's the perfect place to spend a day in Napa Valley if you want an unhurried wine-tasting experience.
I first discovered Larkmead Vineyard by my daughter, who visited a few years ago, after researching wineries in the region. She absolutely loved it, and recommended it to me.
When I visited, I was immediately drawn to the winery's beautiful estate, which is located in the heart of Napa Valley. The winery is surrounded by vineyards, rolling hills, and oak trees, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery.
When I arrived at the winery, I was greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff. They took the time to learn about my preferences and recommended wines that I would enjoy. The tasting experience was very relaxed and informative, and I felt no pressure to rush.
After the tasting, I had the opportunity to take a tour of the winery and learn about the winemaking process. The tour was very informative, and I was impressed by the winery's commitment to sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices.
Larkmead Vineyard is a special place for several reasons.
History: Larkmead is one of the oldest wineries in Napa Valley, dating back to 1895. It has been owned by the same family, the Solari family, since 1948. This long history gives Larkmead a deep understanding of the Napa Valley terroir and a commitment to producing world-class wines.
Terroir: Larkmead's vineyard is located in the heart of Napa Valley, on a unique site that features a diversity of soils. This diversity of soils gives Larkmead's wines a complex and nuanced flavor profile.
Winemaking: Larkmead is committed to producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the vineyard. The winemaking team is led by Avery Heelan, who has been with Larkmead since 2016. Heelan is known for his meticulous attention to detail and his commitment to producing wines that are both elegant and powerful.
Sustainability: Larkmead is committed to sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices. The vineyard is certified sustainable by the Napa Green program, and the winery uses a variety of sustainable practices, such as solar panels and water conservation measures.
The gardens at Larkmead are a sight to behold, with a variety of flowers, shrubs, and trees that bloom throughout the year. The gardens are also home to a variety of birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
Visitors to Larkmead can take a self-guided tour of the gardens or participate in a guided tour led by a Larkmead staff member. The guided tours are particularly informative and provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the gardens and the wildlife that call them home.
The vineyards are farmed using sustainable practices, and the gardens are maintained without the use of pesticides or herbicides. Larkmead also supports a variety of wildlife conservation organizations.
If you are looking for a place to enjoy the beauty of nature, Larkmead Vineyards is a must-visit destination. With its stunning gardens, vibrant wildlife, and commitment to sustainability, Larkmead is a place where you can relax, rejuvenate, and connect with nature.
The day we visited, we saw hummingbirds, monarch butterflies, and so much more.
"“A perfect destination to slow down and be in the moment” "
What to do when visiting Larkmead
Wine tasting: Larkmead offers a variety of wine-tasting experiences..
Tours of the property: Visitors can tour the vineyards, winery, and other parts. Tours are offered daily and last approximately one hour.
Meander the gardens: Larkmead has lovely gardens where you can just slow down and enjoy the stunning countryside views.
Larkmead wines are known for their elegance, complexity, and balance. They are made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and other Bordeaux varieties grown on the winery's estate vineyard in the heart of Napa Valley.
Here are some descriptions of Larkmead's most popular wines:
Cabernet Sauvignon: Larkmead's Cabernet Sauvignon is the flagship wine of the winery. It is made from a blend of grapes from different blocks of the vineyard, and it is aged in a combination of new and used French oak barrels. The wine is typically full-bodied and complex, with flavors of black currant, blackberry, cedar, and spice.
Merlot: Larkmead's Merlot is a more elegant and refined wine than their Cabernet Sauvignon. It is made from grapes from the winery's Merlot block, and it is aged in a combination of new and used French oak barrels. The wine is typically medium-bodied and velvety, with flavors of red plum, red currant, and cherry.
Sauvignon Blanc: Larkmead's Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp and refreshing wine that is perfect for a summer day. It is made from grapes from the winery's Sauvignon Blanc block, and it is aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve its freshness. The wine is typically dry and acidic, with flavors of grapefruit, lemon, and lime.
The Solari: The Solari is a limited-production wine that is made from the best grapes from the Larkmead vineyard. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The wine is aged in new French oak barrels for 24 months, and it is then bottled without filtration. The Solari is a full-bodied and powerful wine with flavors of black currant, blackberry, cedar, and spice.
Larkmead Vineyard is a special place because of its history, terroir, winemaking, sustainability, and hospitality, however, best of all, it is unhurried, you can meander the gardens and enjoy the day with a fabulous glass of wine. It is a must-visit for any wine lover visiting Napa Valley.
An absolutely beautiful covered pergola on the grounds.

Here are some tips for planning your visit to Larkmead Vineyard:
Make reservations. Larkmead Vineyard is a popular winery, so it is important to make reservations in advance, especially if you are visiting during the summer months.
Dress appropriately. Larkmead Vineyard is a casual winery, but you should still dress appropriately for the occasion. Avoid wearing high heels, as the ground can be uneven.
Wear sunscreen and a hat. The sun can be strong in Napa Valley, even on cloudy days, so it is important to protect your skin.
Bring a water bottle. You will be doing a lot of walking and standing, so it is important to stay hydrated.
Take your time. Larkmead Vineyard is a beautiful place, so take your time to enjoy the scenery and the wine.
"It's not just a vineyard, it is a destination." "May your home be a place where friends meet, family gathers, and love grows. "  -- Anonymous

Chinoiserie Blue and White with a Pop of Autumn: A Stunning Tablescape for Fall
Chinoiserie is a timeless style that can be used to decorate any room in your home, but it is especially well-suited for the fall season. The classic blue and white color scheme is elegant and sophisticated, while the intricate patterns add a touch of whimsy.
To create a stunning fall tablescape using chinoiserie, add a pop of autumn color with natural elements such as fall flowers, pumpkins, gourds, and berries.
Here are a few tips for creating a chinoiserie blue and white tablescape with a pop of autumn:
Start with a neutral base. A white tablecloth or runner highlights the blue and white chinoiserie elements. I chose blue and white as base colors, using my chinoiserie vase as my inspiration.
Using this lovely salmon and white fabric, I made a runner to add color to my tablescape. The fabric is not too vibrant and still adds color and visual interest.
Add other autumn colors with natural elements: Place pumpkins, gourds, and berries in bowls and vases along the table’s center. You can also add sprigs of fall foliage to each place setting.
.These are all the lovely colors I wanted for this table. As I design a table, I generally add items and then remove them as I start to get a theme going. This was my work in process.
Use chinoiserie blue and white vases or dishes. This will create a cohesive look for your tablescape.
I chose these beautiful French mini blue tureens as additional blue that I could bring to the place setting. I layered using white and blue. The chocolate was added as a treat for everyone who sat at my table and had additional color.
I have been collecting these Hot Skwash pumpkins for a while now and love to bring them out for Thanksgiving. They add a beautiful velvet texture to the table that I love. I mix them with natural elements like real pumpkins and flowers.
Add touches of gold or silver. Gold and silver will add a touch of luxury to your tablescape. You can use gold or silver chargers, placemats, or flatware. I chose to add my sterling silver flatware.
Centerpiece: Place a blue and white chinoiserie vase in the center of the table. Fill the vase with a mix of autumn foliage, pumpkins, gourds, and berries. These centerpieces were removed before dining since they were a bit large. I place them on my sideboard as a decoration, still keeping all the pumpkins on the table for accents.
A chinoiserie blue and white with a pop of autumn tablescape is a stunning way to celebrate the fall season. The classic blue and white color scheme is elegant and sophisticated, while the intricate patterns add a touch of whimsy. Add a pop of autumn color with natural elements such as pumpkins, gourds, and berries to create this look. You can also add touches of gold or silver to add a touch of luxury. With some planning, you can create a stylish and inviting tablescape.

Warm and welcoming interiors help to foster connection and community. When people feel comfortable and at ease in their surroundings, they are more likely to invite others and spend time together.
It is a way for us to express our style. Homeowners can create unique and memorable spaces by choosing colors, materials, and furnishings that reflect their taste.
The top interior design trends for 2024 are:

Sustainable materials: More and more people decorate their homes with sustainable materials. A growing awareness of the environmental impact of the home design industry drives this trend. Popular sustainable materials include reclaimed wood, bamboo, and recycled glass.
Why are these trends popular?
These trends are popular for several reasons. First, they reflect a growing desire for stylish and functional homes. People want spaces that are comfortable and inviting but also reflect their style.
Second, these trends are a response to the increasing stresses of modern life. People are looking for ways to create homes that are an oasis of calm and relaxation. Biophilic design and earthy hues can help to create a sense of peace and well-being, while bold colors and textures can add a touch of excitement and fun.

No matter your style, there's a way to incorporate the top interior design trends 2024 into your home. With some planning, you can create a stylish, functional space that reflects your unique personality.
Here are a few of the most anticipated design trends for the coming year, along with images to help you visualize them:
Biophilic design
Biophilic design is a holistic approach to design that emphasizes the connection between humans and nature. The biophilic design originated in the 1980s with the work of biologist Edward O. Wilson, who proposed the theory of biophilia, which states that humans have an innate connection to nature and other living things. Biophilic design is a way to incorporate elements of nature into the built environment to improve human health and well-being.
Biophilic design can be implemented in a variety of ways, such as:
Using natural materials, such as wood, stone, and plants
Incorporating patterns and textures that mimic nature, such as wood grain and water ripples
Providing access to natural light and views
Creating spaces that encourage people to connect with nature, such as outdoor terraces and green roofs
Biophilic design has become increasingly popular in recent years for several reasons.
First, a growing body of research shows that biophilic design can have several benefits for human health and well-being, such as reducing stress, improving mood, and boosting creativity.
Second, biophilic design is a way to create more sustainable and resilient buildings. Biophilic design can help reduce energy consumption, improve indoor air quality, and create more comfortable and productive spaces by incorporating elements of nature into the built environment.
Finally, biophilic design is a way to connect with nature and to bring the outdoors in. This especially appeals to people who live in urban areas or spend much time indoors.
Here are some additional reasons why biophilic design is so popular today:
It is a reaction to the overly sterilized and artificial environments of the 20th and early 21st centuries. People are looking for more natural and human-centered spaces.
Biophilic design is a way to create a sense of place and to connect with the local environment.
Biophilic design is a way to educate people about the importance of nature and to promote environmental stewardship
It incorporates natural elements, such as plants, wood, and stone, into interior and exterior spaces. Biophilic design has been shown to have several benefits, including reducing stress, improving mood, and boosting creativity.
Japandi
Japandi design originated outside of Japan, in Scandinavia. It is a fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian design styles, which share many similarities, such as a focus on simplicity, functionality, and natural materials.
Clean lines and minimalism, natural materials, neutral colors, and functionality characterize Japandi’s design. It is highly influenced by the Wabi SABI aesthetics that celebrate the beauty of imperfections and the passage of time.
Japandi design has become increasingly popular in recent years for several reasons.
First, it is a style that is both stylish and functional. Japandi interiors are often described as being clean, airy, and inviting.
Second, Japandi design is a sustainable choice. Japandi designers often use reclaimed materials and traditional construction methods. This is because they believe respecting the environment and living in harmony with nature is important.
Finally, Japandi design is a way to express your individuality. Japandi designers embrace the imperfections of objects and believe that these imperfections add to the beauty and character of an object. This makes Japandi design a great way to create a unique home that reflects your style.
Here are some additional reasons why Japandi design is so popular today:
It reacts to the overly decorated and mass-produced interiors of the 20th and early 21st centuries. People are looking for a more authentic and personal style of interior design.
Japandi design is a way to connect with nature and to bring the outdoors in. This is especially appealing to people who live in urban areas.
Japandi design is a way to slow down and appreciate the present moment. This is important in our fast-paced world.
Mid-century modern
Mid-century modern design aesthetics emerged in the United States and Europe in the middle of the 20th century. It is characterized by its clean lines, simple forms, and use of natural materials such as wood, metal, and glass.
Mid-century modern designers were inspired by the Bauhaus movement, emphasizing simplicity, functionality, and beauty. There are several reasons why mid-century modern design is a trend in 2024. One reason is that it is a timeless style that has never gone out of fashion. It is well-made, durable, easily mixed, and matched with other styles.
Additionally, mid-century modern design is often seen as minimalist and uncluttered, appealing to many people in today's fast-paced world.
Another reason why mid-century modern design is a trend in 2024 is that it is a sustainable style. Mid-century modern furniture is often made from natural materials and designed to last. Additionally, mid-century modern design is often associated with biophilic design, which focuses on connecting people with nature. Biophilic design has been shown to benefit human health and well-being, including reducing stress, improving mood, and boosting cognitive function.
Scandinavian Modern
Scandinavian modern design is a style of interior design that emerged in the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland) in the mid-20th century. Its simplicity, functionality, and use of natural materials characterize it. Scandinavian modern design is often described as being "clean," "minimalist," and "airy."
Some key features in Scandinavian modern design include simple, clean lines, functional furniture and decor pieces, natural materials, neutral colors, and natural light. Scandinavian modern interiors often incorporate pops of accent color and typically use natural materials, such as wood, leather, and stone.
Wabi-sabi
Wabi-sabi interior design originated in Japan in the 15th century. It is a Japanese aesthetic that celebrates the beauty of imperfections and the passage of time. Wabi-sabi was influenced by Zen Buddhism and the tea ceremony, which both emphasize the importance of simplicity and the appreciation of the present moment.
Wabi-sabi interior design is becoming increasingly popular today for several reasons.
First, it is a style that is both calming and inviting. Wabi-sabi interiors are often described as being serene, tranquil, and relaxing. They use natural materials, simple designs, and a muted color palette.
Second, wabi-sabi interior design is a sustainable choice. Wabi-sabi designers often use reclaimed materials and traditional construction methods. This is because they believe respecting the environment and living in harmony with nature is important.
Finally, wabi-sabi interior design is a way to express your individuality. Wabi-sabi designers embrace the imperfections of objects and believe that these imperfections add to the beauty and character of an object. This makes wabi-sabi interior design a great way to create a unique home that reflects your style.
Minimalism
Finally, we get to Minimalism.
Minimalism is both an interior design aesthetic and a style. It is an aesthetic because it is a particular way of approaching design, focusing on simplicity, functionality, and clean lines. It is also a style because it has its own unique set of characteristics, such as the use of natural materials, geometric shapes, and neutral colors. You can see that minimalism runs through each design described in this blog.
Minimalist interior design emerged in the 1960s and 1970s as a reaction to the excesses of mid-century modern design. Minimalist designers sought to create simple, uncluttered, and functional spaces. They emphasized using clean lines, geometric shapes, and natural materials.
Minimalism has become increasingly popular in recent years as people seek ways to reduce stress and create more peaceful and calming home environments. Minimalist interiors are free of clutter and distractions, which can help to promote relaxation and well-being.
Here are some of the key characteristics of minimalist interior design:
Simplicity: Minimalist interior design is all about simplicity. Minimalist designers focus on creating spaces that are uncluttered and free of distractions.
Functionality: Minimalist interior design is also about functionality. Minimalist designers create spaces that are comfortable and easy to use.
Clean lines: Minimalist interior design is characterized by its clean lines and geometric shapes. This can be seen in the furniture, lighting, and accessories used.
Natural materials: Minimalist designers often use natural materials, such as wood, metal, and glass. These materials create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Neutral colors: Neutral colors, such as white, beige, and grey, are a staple of minimalist interior design. They create a clean and uncluttered look.
You can do a few things if you want to create a minimalist interior design aesthetic in your home.
First, start by decluttering your space. Get rid of any unnecessary clutter and organize your belongings.
Second, focus on using simple and functional furniture. Choose pieces that are made from natural materials and have clean lines.
Third, use a neutral color palette. This will create a clean and uncluttered look.
Finally, add some pops of color and personality with accessories. This will help to make your space feel warm and inviting.
Minimalist interior design is an excellent option for anyone looking for a timeless, stylish, and functional aesthetic.
No matter your style, there is an interior design aesthetic out there that is perfect for you. Experiment with different aesthetics and find one that makes you feel happy and at home.

The Healing Power of Nature: Why Spending Time Outdoors is Good for Your Health
Imagine walking through a forest, surrounded by towering trees and lush greenery. The only sounds you can hear are the birds chirping and the wind rustling through the leaves. You feel a sense of peace and calm wash over you. This is the power of nature.
Spending time in nature has been shown to have several health benefits, both physical and mental. Nature has been called "the best medicine.”
""Nature has a profound impact on our well-being. Spending time in nature can help to reduce stress, improve mood, boost cognitive function, and lower blood pressure. It can also help us to feel more grounded and connected to something larger than ourselves." "  -- Richard Louv
Here are some of the specific ways that spending time in nature benefits our wellness:
Reduces stress. Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce cortisol levels, the stress hormone. This can lead to several health benefits, including improved sleep, a stronger immune system, and a reduced risk of heart disease.
Improves mood. Nature can also help to improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. Studies have shown that people who spend time in nature are happier and more optimistic.
Boosts cognitive function. Nature can also help to boost cognitive function and improve memory. Studies have shown that people who spend time in nature perform better on cognitive tests.
Lowers blood pressure. Spending time in nature can also help to lower blood pressure and improve cardiovascular health. Studies have shown that people who spend time in nature have a lower risk of heart disease and stroke.
Promotes physical activity. Spending time in nature often involves physical activity like hiking, biking, or swimming. Physical activity is essential for good physical and mental health.
Enhances social interaction. Spending time in nature can also provide opportunities for social interaction. For example, you can walk with a friend or family or join a hiking group. Social interaction is essential for our overall well-being.
In addition to these specific benefits, spending time in nature can also help to improve our overall sense of well-being. Nature can help us to feel more grounded and connected to something larger than ourselves. It can also help us to appreciate the beauty of the world around us.
If you're looking for ways to improve your wellness, I encourage you to spend more time in nature. Even a short walk in the park can make a big difference. It certainly does for me!
Here are a few tips for connecting with nature:
Find a place in nature where you feel comfortable and relaxed. This could be a park, a forest, a beach, or even your backyard.
Spend time in nature without any distractions. This means turning off your phone and putting away any other devices.
Be present and mindful of your surroundings. Pay attention to nature's sights, sounds, smells, and textures.
Take deep breaths and relax. Focus on the feeling of the air coming in and out of your lungs.
Enjoy the beauty of nature. Appreciate the plants, animals, and landscapes around you.
Another way to connect with nature is to bring it into your home. Using natural materials, such as wood, stone, and bamboo, often characterizes botanical design. It may also incorporate botanical elements such as plants, flowers, and leaves. Botanical design can create various looks, from rustic to modern.
There are many ways to add botanical design to your home interior. Here are a few ideas:
Add potted plants to your home. Potted plants are a great way to bring nature indoors and add a touch of green to any room. Choose plants that are easy to care for and fit your available space.

Nature is home to the soul.
No matter where you live, you can always find beauty in your surroundings. This lovely path brought me down to the gorgeous Indian Ocean off the shores of Perth, Australia.
Nature can help us realize that we are part of something much larger than ourselves and that our problems are not as big as we may think. This can help us to feel more grounded and at peace.
Nature can also make us feel like the whole world is ours. When the beauty of nature surrounds us, we can't help but feel a sense of wonder and awe. We can do anything, and anything is possible.
If you want to improve your wellness, I encourage you to spend more time in nature. Even a short walk in the park can make a big difference. You can also bring nature into your home by adding plants, fresh flowers, or natural materials to your decor.
Nature is our gift, and it is there for us to enjoy. So, please make time for nature today and see how it feels. You may be surprised at how much it can benefit your health and well-being. Spending Time Outdoors is Good for Your Health.

The design of the Porticcio kitchen towel is a 2-inch stripe running down both sides of the oyster towel. It’s ideal to dry dishes and glassware without leaving streaks or fluff. Makes a great hostess gift.  100% linen
This linen becomes softer as you use it through time.  It is a very sturdy high quality linen made with long fibers. Just a beautiful product for everyday use.

With all its intrinsic qualities, linen is a classic in the kitchen. Its strength and absorbency make it the ideal material for kitchen towels, guest towels and aprons. Because flax can absorb up to 20% of its weight in water, a linen towel is ideal for shining glassware.
Our kitchen linen is available in a wide range of colors, and makes a great gift! It is made with pride by Belgian artisans, for the past 150 years.

Authentic French Linen Tea Towels
29” X 21” 100% imported French Linen.
The french tea towel
Made like a french family prepared the meal, these beautiful tea towels give us a taste of yesterday.  The towel is focusing on the table universe, made of 100% stone washed linen. Screen printed of vintage photographs, the collection is entirely printed in Paris, FRANCE on natural and sustainable materials. Each product is handprinted one-by-one, using ecologically friendly water-based inks. Each vintage photograph is found in flea markets in and around Paris, focusing on french family pictures that depict memories, moments of joy or typical french posture. They will accompany your everyday life, meals, recipes and many other things...
These dish cloths are just lucious and soft from the start. They are not only beautiful but also very durable. Each has a tab on one of the ends where you can hang them off a hook for styling, storing or drying.
Linen Care
Washing Linen:
Use a gentle detergent without bleach or any type of bleaching agents. Pre-treat stains prior to washing.
Never wash with dark clothing.
Drying Linen:
Linen can be machine dried at low to medium heat but it is not necessary if you prefer not to.  Linen dries very quickly either inside or outside.  If you do use a machine dryer, do not over drying since this can cause shrinkage and cause damage to the linen fibers themselves.
Ironing Linen:
It is recommended that you iron linen while still damp to assist in ironing. Iron the reverse side of the fabric on medium / high.  The use of a spray bottle with water to iron works best in removing wrinkles.
Storing Linen:
Linen should be stored in a cool dry place.  Avoid placing linen in plastic since it can cause yellowing.
Please see MERZE Blog for more on the care of linens.

Impromptu Gatherings Made Easy with Blue and White Decor
Blue and white is a timeless classic perfect for any occasion, including impromptu gatherings with neighbors. This color combination is elegant and inviting, and it can be easily dressed up or down to fit the mood of your event.
Blue and white is also a versatile color scheme that can be used to create various looks, from casual to formal, and a great choice for decorating for any gatherings.
Whether expecting company at the last minute or hosting a potluck dinner, blue and white decor can help create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere.
Here are some tips for using blue and white decor to create a beautiful and inviting space for your next impromptu gathering:
Start with a neutral base. A neutral base, such as white walls or furniture, will allow the blue and white decor to pop.
Add pops of color. If you want to add a pop of color, try using accessories in shades of blue, white, or other complementary colors.
Use a variety of textures. Textures can help to add interest and depth to your decor. Try using a variety of fabrics, such as linen, cotton, and lace, as well as different types of wood and metal.
Don't be afraid to mix and match patterns. Mixing and matching patterns can help to create a more interesting and visually appealing space.
Use fresh flowers. Fresh flowers are a great way to add a touch of nature to your decor. Try using a variety of blue and white flowers, such as hydrangeas, lilies, and irises.
Candles. Candles can help to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Try using a variety of blue and white candles, such as tapers, votives, and pillar candles.
Table settings. Use blue and white table settings to create a cohesive look. Try using a white tablecloth, blue napkins, and blue and white china.
Décor. There are many different types of blue and white décor available, from vases and figurines to plates and bowls. Choose décor that reflects your personal style and taste.
By following these tips, you can easily create a beautiful and inviting space for your next impromptu gathering. So don't be afraid to mix and match blue and white décor to create a space that is both stylish and welcoming.
"“Be faithful to your own taste, because nothing you really like is ever out of style.” "  -- Billy Baldwin
This is the color palette that I used when designing for this event. I used the basic blue and white and then added shades of orange and brown. The use of brown then allowed me to use a pink rose that is muted with some brown tones it is.
Design tip about color: Colors have varying degrees of other colors. This is because all colors are made up of different wavelengths of light. When two colors are mixed together, the wavelengths of light from each color overlap, creating a new color. The new color will have the wavelengths of light from both original colors.
For example, when red and yellow are mixed, the wavelengths of light from each color overlap, creating orange. Orange is a new color with wavelengths of light from red to yellow.
The amount of each color in a mixture will determine the overall hue of the mixture. For example, if you mix equal amounts of red and yellow, you will get a pure orange color. However, adding more red to the mixture will make the orange more red.
The same principle applies to all colors. When two colors are mixed together, the amount of each color in the mixture will determine the overall hue of the mixture. This is why colors can have varying degrees of other colors in them.
An example I used is the pink roses and the different blues I used in the design. The pink roses had a very low brown tone, and the blues were muted with white tones.
INterior Design Tip:
Not all colors are created equal when designing an event or interior space. pay attention to the overall value of the color, A color may work great with other items in the space, but another may not.
"I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order. "  -- John Burroughs
I started with a few blue and white pieces and then added pink and orange items that all had shades of blue, white, and brown.
An impromptu gathering often doesn’t give you much time to go to the store to purchase things you would generally serve at your party. Since I didn't have much time to prepare. I decided to make a quick charcuterie board with the items I had in the refrigerator. I started with a large cutting board and arranged a variety of cheeses, fruits, and nuts. I added some crackers and bread, and I was done! My guests loved the charcuterie board; it was a great way to feed a crowd without much effort.
Charcuterie boards are a great way to impress guests with little effort. They're also a fun and easy way to snack on your favorite meats, cheeses, and other treats.
Here's how to create a simple impromptu charcuterie board:
Start with a large cutting board or platter.
Add a variety of meats, cheeses, and other snacks.
Arrange the items in an attractive way.
Serve with crackers, bread, or fruit.
Choose a variety of meats, cheeses, and other snacks, adding visual interest and flavor to your board.
Arrange the items in an attractive way. You can do this by grouping similar items or creating a visually appealing pattern.
Serve with crackers, bread, or fruit, allowing your guests to enjoy the different items on your board.
Here are some ideas for meats, cheeses, and other snacks to include on your charcuterie board:
Meats: salami, prosciutto, chorizo, pepperoni, ham
Cheeses: cheddar, gouda, brie, mozzarella, goat cheese
Other snacks: nuts, olives, grapes, figs, dried fruit, crackers, bread
With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and impressive charcuterie board that will surely please your guests.
Here are some additional tips for creating a charcuterie board:
Use a variety of textures. This will add interest to your board and make it more visually appealing.
Use a variety of colors, and this will also add visual interest and make your board more festive.
Don't be afraid to get creative. There are no rules when it comes to charcuterie boards. Have fun with it and experiment with different combinations of ingredients.
I had gone to the store the day before and bought a lovely lemon rosemary bread and a sundried tomato baguette. I sliced them to serve for my charcuterie board. I seasoned them with lemon olive oil, fresh rosemary, garlic, and some salt and pepper. I put them in the oven and baked them for about 10 minutes. Once they were cooled, I put them on my charcuterie board to have with my brie cheese and other hard cheeses.
It was so simple to do and the results were delicious! The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The lemon and rosemary flavors were so fragrant and the garlic added a nice touch of savory flavor. It was the perfect accompaniment to the cheeses and other charcuterie items on my board.
If you're looking for a quick and easy way to add some flavor to your charcuterie board, I highly recommend trying this recipe. It's sure to impress your guests!

This is my quick, straightforward charcuterie board using a favorite walnut serve board. A lovely wooden board adds to the aesthetics of your design. The board’s texture brings interest to your charcuterie board, bringing an organic look and feel to my gathering without sacrificing elegance.

The blood orange simple syrup added a touch of sweetness and tartness to the cocktail. The blood orange slices added a pop of color and flavor. The rosemary sprig added a touch of herbaceousness and elegance.

Garden Themed Table Design For Easter
I think that Easter has to be one of my favorite holidays. It has always been a laid-back afternoon celebration where we invited a few family or friends for a small intimate brunch. We set up a pretty table on our patio and enjoyed the weather if the weather was warm enough. It is a nice way to welcome Spring.
On this day, I decided to create this outdoor garden themed table design for Easter using ideas from my trellis, garden roses, and other things I find in my yard. I like to start my designs using a theme since it helps me with the initial direction of my table.
This collection of spring flowers just is so sweet with the calla lilies, tulips, and roses.
"“don’t Wait For Someone To Bring You Flowers. Plant Your Own Garden And Decorate Your Own Soul.” "  -- Luther Burbank
I made this tablecloth using a lovely fabric with a pink/orange trellis design, and I found the material in a wholesale fabric warehouse in Massachusetts.
Hint: Designers love to rummage through antique stores, warehouses, and the like to find exciting things they can use for decorating.
I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING PORTMEIRION’S BOTANICAL GARDEN DISHES for years. They are perfect for a BOTANICAL garden party since they have flowers, butterflies, and other critters on them. I never get tired of them.
On top of my Botanical Garden dish, I’ve placed a linen napkin with gorgeous embroidered spring and summer flowers. The colors are just so sweet, adding to the texture and theme of my tablescape.
"“you Can Cut All The Flowers, But You Cannot Keep Spring From Coming.” "  -- Pablo Neruda "“I just love Easter. It’s just the best holiday ever. I love Peeps, and jelly beans, and I love chocolate covered bunnies, but I really love Peeps the best.”"  -- Reese Witherspoon
Pink Lemonade Mimosas
1 cup pink lemonade
2 cups of prosecco or any champagne or sparkling wine.
Just a few drops of Grenadine (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
Assemble time - 5 minutes.
Serves 2
Chill all of your ingredients
Pour pink lemonade into two coupe or flute glasses. (I used pre-made pink lemonade from the grocery store. It saved me time and was just as good as if I made it myself.)
Gently add prosecco to the lemonade.
Add Grenadine for additional color and a hint more flavor.
Garnish with fruit such as raspberries or strawberries. I added a few edible viola blooms for color.

Summertime Garden Entertaining Using Roses and Citrus
Midsummer weather is the perfect time to gather in the garden. When entertaining outside, I love to design around the season’s colors. August is the perfect time to use vibrant colors from roses growing in the garden and add a little surprise to my table.
I had this gorgeous array of pink, yellow, and white roses that I thought would make an enchanting spray along the center of my table. Laying flowers in the middle of a table looks fantastic if you group them in bundles, leaving very little negative space between them. As with a garden design, your flowers do not have to be perfect on your table. I simply placed a few bundles here and there along the center of my table and filled the negative space with citrus and other flowers.
Since living in California, I have become much more aware of all the citrus in this region. Did you know that vineyards will at times grow lemon and lime trees? Weather is a huge factor in growing grapes; the grape is affected by the climate changing faster. Using trees will cool down and shade and increase the moisture in the soil.
Climate change has raised average temperatures, which speeds up the ripening of grapes. This leads to lower acidity and increased sugars in the fruit, yielding higher alcohol levels in wine and altering other compounds in grapes that affect aroma and flavor.
"The growing of woody perennials like trees in combination with annual crops and fruits, in a system that increases cooling and moisture levels while sequestering atmospheric carbon — from wine grapes to grains and fruits. "  -- Earth Island Journal "“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.” "  -- – Luther Burbank
These English roses are just so beautiful to look at. Why not make them the centerpiece of a garden party table design?
Creating a table design using white on white can be elegant. You don’t need to put a ton of color on your table if you use contrasting dishes that have different textures and patterns.
Layering your dishes on top of one another and adding a napkin in between one of the layers is a great way to bring color to your tablescape. Take one of the colors from your flowers and use that color ON your napkin. It will bring a more cohesive look and feel TO your tablescape.
These imported French champagne glasses are absolutely adorable. I first saw them when going to lunch at a restaurant in Santa Barbara, CA. I ordered a Prosecco, and they served it in this glass. I had to have them. They gave a little bee on the side of the glass, which I love! The presentation was adorable and fun to drink out of. I looked high and low for them the next day and finally found them. I ordered six of them and plan to add them to my inventory in my boutique as soon as they are available again. Hopefully soon!
Before serving, I place the glasses in the freezer to get them super cold. Once they were filled with a sparkling Prosecco, they became frosty on the surface. Perfect for a gathering in the garden on a warm summer day.

My First Days In California
It is a warm sunny day here in California, and I wanted to make a quick non-alcoholic beverage and sit outside to enjoy the day.
I found these heart-shaped Linzer cookies at a local shop here in San Luis Obispo (SLO) and had to pick them up. They are my favorite type of cookie, and having raspberry jam in the middle makes them even better!
Most of you who follow me know that I am from Connecticut and have recently moved to California. My company is now located both in Connecticut and California. I will spend some time on both sides of the country throughout the year. For now, I am enjoying the fantastic weather, topography, and people here in SLO. It’s truly a wonderful place to live.
Here in SLO, you have the massive Pacific Ocean just a stone’s throw away and outstanding boutique vineyards even closer. What’s not to love!?
"“She stood there bright as the sun on that California coast.” "  -- Bob Seger
SLO has a huge festive farmers’ market every Thursday evening in their downtown. It is filled with fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other goods that local artisans sell to the public. There is music and shopping along the way. It is a very good time.
As I was shopping for flowers, I found a vendor that told me about Eufloria Flowers and recommended I go there to find beautiful roses. The following day, I traveled to the distributor, and I was not disappointed in the least. I couldn’t be more delighted to see the large varieties of roses they sell, and they will undoubtedly be one of my leading suppliers for MERZE Lifestyle. The bouquet I picked when I visited was an array of large blooms to sweetheart roses.
This tea rose is gorgeous. It is small, but what a statement it has!
The next day, I decided to make a beverage for my husband and me and sit on the patio to enjoy the summer day.
The beverage I made has four ingredients:
Raspberry Lime Rickey
INGREDIENTS
1 cup raspberry simple syrup
1/2 cup lime juice
48 ounces club soda, or you can use Ginger Ale if you want a sweeter drink
Lime wedges or other fruit for garnish.
Mix all in a pitcher and add ice.
That’s it!
Recipe for the raspberry simple sugar
3/4 cup of raspberries (6oz)
3/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups cleaned raspberries
In a small saucepan, add together the sugar, water, and raspberries. Over medium heat, bring to a simmer for about 3 minutes.
Reduce the temperature to low and simmer for another 5 minutes. Take the pan off the burner.
Let cool
Strain the mixture so that you only get the raspberry juice.
Once all the liquid is strained, place the liquid in a container.
You can keep the rest of the simple sugar for one week.
NOTE: You can also freeze the simple syrup in ice cubes to be used later
That’s it!
This is the bouquet I made with the roses I purchased. The array of roses IS just spectacular. This confit pot is an antique, and I didn’t want to add water to it. The trick is to PLACE a smaller vase filled with water into the confit pot. then place the flower stems into the vase that is filled with water.
Note: Ensure the vase inside isn’t too filled with water. I tested it before I placed it in the confit pot. The water can splash into the confit pot and ruin the vase if it is filled too much. Antique confit pots are truly precious and should be treated with care.

Edible Flowers On An Early Summer Day
I have been using edible flowers for years to decorate and flavor food and beverages. Working as an event stylist for years, I’ve found tricks to make meals, appetizers, and drinks look and taste amazing.
Presentation is so important. There is something about a beautiful tray with a simple orchid flower as a garnish. The pop of color and the gorgeous organic bloom brings any presentation to a whole new level. It elevates the dish to appear more elegant and sophisticated.
There are four edible flowers that I like to use the most. They are pansies, violas, lavender, and orchids.
pansies and violas are late spring blooms that come in various colors. I grow them organically with no pesticides to use in any dish, a salad, appetizer, dessert, main meal, or drink.
This is lavender goat cheese that was rolled into an oblong shape. Pansies and violas were placed on top with a few herbs for a pretty presentation and added color and flavor. The goat cheese was rolled in a plastic wrap once the flowers and herbs were set on top. The process helps the flowers and herbs adhere to the cheese without fingerprints all over the goat cheese. It was then unwrapped carefully and placed on a dish. I drizzled lavender honey on top and added a few lavender sprigs as a garnish to the plate. It was served with thinly sliced baguettes roasted with garlic, olive oil, sea salt, and ground pepper until crispy. A few rosemary crackers were added to the dish. The appetizer was both savory and a bit sweet.
Lavender has such a fragrant scent, and the taste is somewhat sweet. Infuse the flavor into a simple sugar by using the flower blooms. You can use the finished lavender liquid in baked goods and beverages. The flower buds are a lovely shade of purple or pink. Using a single stem of the lavender flower resting on the rim of a cocktail glass makes a lovely statement. The presentation is simple but elegant.
This is a prosecco cocktail. Prosecco was poured into the coupe glass, and a teaspoon of infused lavender simple sugar was added. A sprig of lavender and a lime slice was added for color for garnish.
The orchid has many different sizes and vibrant colors. The flower bloom is not toxic or harmful, but you should not eat too many. I will often use the bloom as a garnish for drinks and appetizers or place them on serve boards for a pop of color. If I host a dinner and have appetizers that I pass around, the orchid is the first flower I will choose to use as a garnish on my trays. The presentation is simplistic yet sophisticated!
This beverage is all about presentation. The glass is filled with Prosecco, and added just a drizzle of Grenadine was added to it. You can also use a delicious sparkling rose to substitute for the Prosecco. An orchid was added for color and to create a more elegant presentation.
To read my blog on this presentation, click on the picture.
"The orchid is Mother Nature’s masterpiece. "  -- Robyn
Pansies, violas, lavender, and orchids can be used on charcuterie boards to create a spectacular visual presentation. Whether using an organic-shaped burl serve board or an antique sterling silver tray, the blooms bring a presentation to a whole new level.
Remember, people, take in food with all their senses. When serving a dish, color, texture, and patterns are the first thing we see. Visual appeal is almost as important as taste.
Spring blooms are always a favorite when decorating with edible flowers.
The pop of color for a backyard garden party makes this presentation much more festive.
"Can words describe the fragrance of the very breath of spring? "  -- Neltje Blanchan
Add spring blooms to an ice tray. Fill them up with water. Once they are frozen, add them to cocktails or mocktails. It is a lovely presentation.

Entertaining Idea’s for a Memorial Day Backyard Gathering
Memorial Day is considered the beginning of summer here in New England. It is when it’s finally warm enough to go outside, and we can barbeque with friends and family after a long winter season. Everyone is excited to breathe the fresh air and gather with loved ones.
When hosting a backyard barbeque, I like to decorate more casually while paying attention to the little things that make a complete design.
A savory charcuterie board is one of my favorite go-to’s when I want first to serve appetizers. It can encompass so many different foods, and the presentation is both visually delicious and festive to look at.
"Barbecue may not be the road to world peace, but it's a start. "  -- Anthony Bourdain
This is a roasted tomato, ricotta, and basil crostini that I made. I got the recipe from the Food Network. Click on the link below or the picture to bring you to the recipe. It is delicious!
Roasted Tomato, Ricotta, and Basil Crustini
I love using little hints of red throughout my design. I am not a big fan of using too many red colors because it can overwhelm the design quickly. For a patriotic presentation, I will often use primarily blue and white and add hints of red here and there.
Here, I let the tomatoes and strawberries represent the red and added blue and white napkins for a patriotic look and feel.
If your server board is large enough, you can add all your appetizers creating a grazing table. This serving board is giant, and I was able to add some of my crostini to it and meats, cheeses, and crackers.
The little displays of red, white, and blue flags create a more festive Memorial Day celebration. The summer flowers were purchased at my local nursery. The summer
I placed my little arrangements here and there throughout the dining area. The pop of colors using yellow sunflowers and blue hydrangeas bring some color into the space where I am entertaining.
Always keep with your specific theme when designing for any event. Don’t forget the interior of your home. Small arrangements in your kitchen or bathroom are a nice touch.

Sentiments of a Daughter on Mother's Day
I love Mother’s Day. I do! It is a time when my extended family gathers to share a lovely brunch, sip delicious cocktails and remember all the mother’s in our family. We get dressed up, share gifts, talk of memories of days gone by, and solidify our love for one another on Mother’s Day. You walked away knowing you are deeply engrained in the beautiful heritage of so many women before us. I love that.
"A mother is your first friend, you best friend, your forever friend. "  -- Amit Kalantril
In my home, we had some particular customs on Mother’s Day. It started when my daughter was just a petite redheaded little girl. She loved flowers of all kinds and often would pick dandelions or other flowers and bring them to me when she was 1 or 2 years old.
When she got a little older, my husband would bring her out for an exertion the day before Mother’s Day. She would become excited and try not to look like she had a secret she was hiding. They would go to White Flowers Farm in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut, where you could find a vast collection of flowering shrubs, trees, and plants. It is a place where you can meander for hours just looking at the gorgeous landscape and blooms. They have a fantastic host of unique flowers to choose from.
Once there, my daughter., Alex, picked out a flowering tree, shrub, or another type of bloom to give to me as a gift on Mother’s Day. After she picked her favorite plant, they would go to the Litchfield center to have lunch and return home. She was always giddy and excited about her secret, and of course, I never let on knowing what was to come.
On Mother’s Day, Alex would gift me her unique selected plant, and we would go outside to plant it once we were finished with brunch. Today, I have beautiful flowering lilacs, peonies, hydrangeas, dogwood trees, lavender, many roses, and daisies. All bloom at different times of the year and have grown just as she has through the years. It is a thrill to see them come to life every year in the springtime.
Today, it is no surprise that we share the love of gardening, whether planting a vegetable garden or caring for blooms.
This blog is dedicated to all the colors of the lilacs, peonies, roses, lavender, dogwoods, and other assorted plants she has given me through the years that grace my home today.
All of these photos are just some of the shrubs, trees, and other plantings she has GIVEN me through the years. As you can see, many are thriving and still give us amazing blooms.
This table design has many of the different colors found outside my home. It is filled with different shades of purple, pink, blue, and creams. Put together; IT is a garden of delight.

Some of my favorite colors are blue, pink, green, and purple. They are represented here in my centerpiece.
Floral centerpiece filled with roses, hyacinth, delphinium, and orchids, to name a few. Between the roses and the hyacinth, this centerpiece has a fantastic scent.
The centerpiece's different colors are also found throughout the tablescape, creating a more cohesive table design.
I adore these cocktail glasses! They are paisley etched glass with a platinum rim around the foot. They are elegant but have a bit of a romantic casual feel to them. Perfect for my table!
I played around with the plates that I wanted to use. At first, I thought I would use just the cream colors since they have so much texture, but when I added the blue vintage Spode, oh la la…I love the contrast and color combination! That pop of color and the floral rim around the plate made my heart sing. The blue in the plate picks up all the blue hues around the tablescape. Who doesn’t love blue and white?!

There are a lot of layers throughout this design. I have an antique white linen tablecloth, a purple runner, a charger, and three other plates. It isn’t necessary to have so many layers, but I recommend layering at least a little. It gives your table a more interesting look and feel and keeps your eye traveling throughout the design. Without layers, your design can come across as flat. It’s a designer’s trick!
Here are just a few little design details that I added to my table design to make it more interesting. The color of these French Jacquard linen runners and napkins has a gorgeous pattern, and the texture of the linen is a nice weight. It represents the lilacs and other purple hues in my flower selection in my centerpiece.
Of course, I had to serve a delicious cocktail. I poured some Prosecco into the glass and added just a drizzle of Grenadine to it. The orchid is spectacular, and the bloom is edible as long as you get them without pesticides. To me, orchids are one of the most beautiful blooms you can use for garnishing drinks, appetizers, and the like. They are elegant and colorful. What a presentation!
I placed this tiny cake dish on my table to create a little drama. The color connects with the centerpiece and pulls out the pinks in the runner and napkins.
These are little arrangements I designed and placed around the taller centerpiece. Once we sit down for brunch, I will remove the larger centerpiece; I like to have other flowers around to keep with the look and feel of the table design while we enjoy our meal.
The pink English roses are my favorite. They are David Austin Roses, and honestly, their scent is just spectacular!
