A hero! Impossible to believe that there are still people against sexual education. Don’t believe the lies, they want us unable to move forward and improve our lives.

On this day, 11 February 1916, Lithuanian-born Jewish anarchist Emma Goldman was arrested in New York City for distributing information on birth control. She was technically charged with breaching the Comstock Act, which banned “obscene” material from the mail or from being transported across state lines. Goldman’s arrest came as she was due to deliver a public lecture on family planning, which was a key concern for working class people. Radicals argued that family planning was essential for working class people to be able to have an acceptable standard of living, and believed that authorities opposed birth control so that there would be an oversupply of labour to keep down wages and fill the army. Emma Goldman decided to defend herself in court, and used the trial to generate large amounts of publicity for her message. She was eventually convicted, and rather than pay a $100 fine she chose to serve 15 days in prison. We have a collection of Goldman’s writings on sex and gender available here, as well as reproductions of this mugshot: https://shop.workingclasshistory.com/collections/all/emma-goldman https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1650011538517323/?type=3

This is the picture that John was talking about near the end of the last episode! What a ghastly way to create the colorism that still haunts Mexican culture to this day. It is scary and impressive how these images and ideas continue to have their hold on the minds of old and young Mexicans a like. I urge you to fight against these built-in walls of discrimination in our culture. We have to be better!

Happy 2 months to me and John. We have had a few hiccups for the last few week but we are coming back strong! The MCAT is dawning upon me and what a better way to distract me from my impending doom than by talking about the roots of my country. I had a lot of fun talking about Mexican history during this episode. However, the changes of the past and how they continue to affect the present state of Mexico are things the weigh heavy on my heart.
Lets talk some colonialism and history!

Today I saw some pretty good points on why Apple created a cult for their products. As an Android user I do believe so of the aspects of the Apple user community are cult-ish. They sell you and problem and a solution which is pretty wild.
I wonder what other aspects of regular life have created cult behavior 🤔

On the discussion of cults
Its all fun and games until you’re in one! Remember to not discriminate against others beliefs and to keep an open mind. However, please take care of yourselves and do not allow anyone to take advantage of you and isolate you from your family and friends.

The irony is so real in this picture. It is very hard to believe that these people think of themselves as patriots.
