Today is June 12th, and everyone on the Karasuno Boys Volleyball team knows what that means…

“SUGAWARA-SANNNNN!!!” Hinata and Noya scream while running towards the setter. With that speed, anyone would think they're about to trample over the poor guy.

“Woah there, slow down you two.” Suga chuckles lightly. “You never stop, do you?”

“TOMORROW! IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY RIGHT?” Hinata jumps and practically flies over Sugawara’s head.

“Yeah! Your gettin’ pretty old now aren’t ya? Noya jokes, a large grin painted on his face.

“That’s right” Suga replies. “It’s the last I get to spend with you guys, so I guess it’s pretty special!”

“Y/N-SANNN!!!” Hinata yells, running towards you even faster than he did with Suga.

You were close by, and heard two familiar voices screaming your boyfriend’s name. So, naturally you wanted to see what the fuss was all about. Suga looks up to see you running towards them in the distance and immediately brightens up. “Hey y/n!” He calls out to you. “Whatcha been up to bab-”

“SHOYOUUUU! HAHAHA” Noya calls out and runs to catch up to the orange flash.

“Oi!” Suga calls running after the two of them “Don’t run her over!”

You abruptly stop at the sight of them all running towards you, a worried look on your face hoping they would take it as a sign to slow down.

Thankfully, they did.

The two bullet trains stopped just before hitting you and began springing up and down, as if they hadn’t just been running.

“y/n? Are you okay?” Suga pants, having caught up just moments later.

You manage to slip out a few sentences despite your heart still racing. “Yeah, i’m fine babe” you smile, “How have you bee-”

“yy/nnn!! You know what tomorrow is, right?” Hinata interrupts “It’s your boyfriend's birthday!” he jumps up even higher than before, seemingly having endless amounts of energy.

“Hinata, don’t interrupt y/n please…” Suga huffs.

“You’re gonna get him a cool gift right?! Or maybe even something else..?” Nishinoya jokes again.

A blush immediately comes over your face,”I have a few things planned…” you reply shyly, turning your head away embarrassed. Suga blushes slightly at your words before snapping himself back to reality. “Alright guys, that’s enough… Shouldn't you be using your energy for practice?”

“Oh yeah” says Hinata. “Suga-san, can you throw me some tosses?”

“Sure thing” Suga reaches out for your hand.

“You know I play better when you're watching.”

After Practice

“Hinata, nice kill!” praises Suga while high-fiving the tiny giant.

“That was a good one Hinata! You really will fly high” you smile running towards the two of them.

Hinata beams at you, eyes shimmering like the sun “One more!”

“That was the last one Hinata, I gotta take y/n home now.” says Suga sounding rather worn out.

“But-”

“I wouldn’t mind if you continued, but Suga looks tired, Hinata. Wouldn't want him to be tired on his special day.” you press, winking at Hinata.

“Ohhhh! Gotcha. Well, see ya tmrw!” He replies, waving you two off.

You both wave back before grabbing your belongings, ready to set off home.

“Thanks for that, y/n.” Suga says gratefully, a small yawn escapes his mouth.

You can’t help but giggle at how adorable he is. “You know, you don’t always have to tough everything out you know. It’s okay to take a break sometimes! You put a lot of pressure on yourself when you don’t need to.” you stop walking and look up at him, his beautiful hazel eyes giving you their full attention. “Because you’re amazing, Koushi!”

The setter’s eyes widen and it’s hard to see, but a heavy blush covers his face. His heart pounds in his chests and before he has time to think about his actions, he puts a hand on your cheek, another on your waist, bends down, and kisses you passionately. Your hands reach up to hold him as his other hand drops to your waist. He pulls back for a minute and holds your chin up so your eyes meet. “I love you, y/n. More than you’ll ever know.”

“Make sure your eyes are closed babe!” your call out to Sugawara from the kitchen.

“I’m closin’ em” he calls back, seated eagerly on the living room sofa.

You smile at his words and begin to walk towards him, birthday cake in hand and vocal chords ready! This wasn’t just any birthday cake, it was Koushi’s favourite. About a week ago, he treated you to an expensive cafe that specializes in desserts, knowing full well how much of a sweet tooth you had. Ironically, it seemed like he ended up enjoying himself more than you were. It’s not that you were ungrateful or didn't like the food, no, it wasn’t anything like that.

He just happened to try this cake, your cake, and it was ‘superb’.

“Babe, You have to try this! This cake is delicious!” you squeal to your bf.

“Yeah? It’s really that good huh? Then I guess I gotta try.” You placed some on your fork and gestured him to open his mouth so you could feed him. His eyes widen at the taste, “Wow! This cake is superb y/n!” he beams at you, bringing a smile to your face.

You can tell he wants more, but he wouldn’t dare ask. So you offered for him. “You want some more?”

Suga shakes his head. “It’s for you y/n, I can’t just take your cake…”

“But you do want some more?” you tease. He nods shyly, making you chuckle. “Looks like someone has a new favourite cake.” you add.

So thanks to that new discovery, you knew the perfect cake to get him for his special day.

“Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Koushiii, Happy Birthday to youuuu!!!” you positioned yourself in front of him, “open your eyes!” Sugawara gasps, switching his gaze from the cake to you for a few seconds before finally being able to speak.

“y/n… You didn’t…” he says breathily, still in shock.

“I did…” you tease.

“I can’t believe it!” he looks up at you, face slightly switching. “You forgot the candles!”

What? (whadidhesayyyyy) you stood there frozen, the look on your face was indescribable.

Sugawara bursts out laughing at your reaction and stands up, bringing both of his hands to cup your face. “That was a joke y/n” he giggles “you should see your face right now.”

“You’re hilarious Koushi..” you sigh and look up at him, trying to fight off the smirk appearing on your face.

“Thank you for the cake, love. That was really sweet of you.” he smiles down at you, placing the cake down on the coffee table before scooping you up into his arms, giggles escaping your lips.

“Did you want some candles? We do have some in the cupboard.” you joke looking up at him.

“Hmm.. Now that you mention it, they would be a nice touch.” He turns away from you dramatically, “but who needs em’ - - -"

then looks back "- - - when I have you to light up my world.” he pulls you back in and nuzzles his head at the base of your neck.

“That was really cringy Kou..” you giggled. “But you light up mine too.”

“Daichi? Have you been getting enough sleep lately? Your eyes look heavy.” you rush over to the captain, who looks like he’s at death’s door.

He looks over at you and smiles, ”I appreciate the concern but there’s no need to worry. I'm just fine y/n, I promise.”

“Those eyebags are probably from dealing with Hinata and Kageyama” Suga says sarcastically while entering the gym. “Honestly, I don’t know how he does it.”

“Suga-san!” You jog over to greet the setter, water bottle in hand, jumping up and down. “Happy Birthday!!”

“Hey y/n! Wow, you remembered huh? That makes me feel pretty special.” He laughs, one hand nervously rubbing the back of his neck.

“You are special Suga!” you state before your mind can process the words that left your lips.

Then they hit you.

You see, being Karasuno’s manager meant you took care of all the guys! And honestly you loved it. The team felt like a family! Being able to witness Karasuno in their bubble was something you were forever grateful for.

Along with this, It was clear (to everyone except you that is), that you and Sugawara liked each other. You were a scholar student, not dense in the slightest. Yet somehow, his feelings and your own had evaded you leaving you completely oblivious.

At least up until recently…

Sugawara wasn’t so much shy with his feelings, he just wanted to make sure things were mutual, in fear of scaring you off and losing the friendship you had built up. If he was confident in that, he would have no problem making the first move.

Naturally, he told Daichi about his feelings for you. So this interaction you were currently having was rather amusing.

Although over the past few weeks, you've started to become more conscious of your feelings too… (took you long enough,, thinks Daichi. ft the entire team)

“Wait- that came out wrong- im sorry!” you splutter, choaking with embarrassment.

Sugawara laughs and hands you back the water bottle you gave him. “Did you really mean it though?” he inquires.

Of course you meant it. He is special. Does he not know this? You thought.

You look up at the setter to see his confused eyes searching your face for an answer. So he really doesn’t know?

“Of course I did, Koushi” you reply, scanning his face in an equal manner. Then you add “especially to me.” and watch the setter’s eyes pop out of his head. You could practically hear how loud his heart was beating.

There's a moment of silence. Suga decides to break it.

“y/n?”

“Yes, Koushi?”

“C-can I kiss you?”

Another moment of silence. Which is now your job to sever.

No words leave your lips, instead you nod slowly while being pulled into his embrace.

You feel his warm smile greet you as he says, “What an unexpected gift.”

Sunset glossed over the skies giving your eyes a tigerish glow as you peered up at the breathtaking view. You stood next to Tsukki, your boyfriend of 6 months, who looked less than amused at the sight. Despite the sunset having taken your breath away, Tsukishima had a view he found much more precious, more heavenly. And that was none other than you. He would never tell this to your face of course. Especially in public. The dinosaur loving man with a tongue that spat more salt than anything else found himself rendered speechless around you. You of course were well aware of this. The effect you had on him was exhilarating, which drove you to want to tease him just a little.

With that being said, it’s no surprise that you confessed your feelings first. Usually you weren’t particularly bold, but you knew if you let the middle blocker slip away, you’d regret it.

Yachi, your best friend, begged you for weeks to join the volleyball club as the manager with her. Not long after, you were sitting at the back of class during lunch when Yachi caught you watching a recording of Karasuno’s latest match. “So you do like volleyball!! Karasuno’s amazing right?!” she beamed at you, catching the attention of everyone in the room. You jumped, face red and emitting a concerning amount of heat. “Hitoka-kun!” you spat out at your giggling bff. “Sorry!” she replied. “Does this mean you’re considering joining?”

Tilting your head down, embarrassed even more, you gave her a small nod before looking up at her. “Really?! Then cmon!” she beamed, grabbing your hand and running through the halls with you trailing behind like a soft toy. “Where are we going?!?” you shrieked. “To Takeda-sensei and Ukai-sensei! We gotta let them know you’re in!!”

For weeks you had been considering joining. Volleyball had interested you for a while now and every game had you on the edge of your seat, but you never thought you were fit to manage an entire team. In fact, the previous year you were in the hallway when Kiyoko asked Yachi if she would be interested in the managing job, and deep down you wanted it too. But you would never be confident enough to put your name forward. So Hitoka bet you to it.

When she suggested you join her the following year, well, you were shocked to say the least. Excited, scared, nervous, happy, all the emotions flooded through at once. So, you never initially responded.

But here you are now. Karasuno’s manager! All thanks to Yachi.

“Everyone listen up!” starts Ukai and the boys gather round. “Takeda-sensei has an announcement.”

“Yachi-kun has been searching for something the past few weeks. Something that will set you straight again.” Takeda-sensei says.

“A leash? Finally... I was thinking of buying one myself if this went on for much longer.” Tsukishima spits sarcastically, smirking at tangerine.

“Hey!” Hinata snaps back at him.

“He does have a point.” adds Kageyama.

“OI!” Hinata barks again.

“Enough.” Takeda-sensei declares, silence fills the gym. “A new manager to work alongside Yachi-kun. l/n-kun? You can come in now.” he calls out to you and Yachi stands to the side to let you through. Everyone freezes and gasps fill the air, all eyes are on you. You look away for a minute, embarrassed, before back up and over towards bench, only to see a blonde male with glasses gazing over at you in awe. As if he's just seen the most beautiful thing ever.

“She’s cute.” Tanaka says shamelessly.

“Heck yeah! Hey there pretty girl!” Noya waves at you. “Bet ya I'll get to her first.”

“Alright alright,” Ukai says. “Introduce yourselves but not all at once. I’m sure you’ve scared the girl enough already. Then it's three laps around the gym, ya hear me?”

“Yes sir!”

The boys introduce themselves one by one, but one in particular stands out. Tsukishima jogs away to start his laps, Yamaguchi trailing behind. “Tsukkiiii! She’s really pretty, right?” no reply. Not even a minute later, Tadashi tries to break the silence once more. “You went a little quiet back there Tsukki, got a crush on-”

“Yamaguchi, urusai.” Tsukishima interrupts him while they jog. “Gomen, Tsukki!” Yamaguchi adds, bringing a slight smirk on Tsukki’s face.

There you both are. Next to the gym, eyes towards the sky. Tsukishima shifts his gaze from the sunset to you and out the corner of your eye, you see him smile. You find Kei’s soft side adorable, and register this as the perfect opportunity to tease him just a little. “Shouldn’t you be heading inside, Kei? I saw Noya and Hinata run in a few minutes ago. Wouldn’t wanna keep them waiting, would you?” you made sure to use the tone that made him weak. You notice his cheeks redden a little, signifying your success. But unfortunately for you, despite the level of power you have over him, Tsukishima would never go down that easily. So to cover for himself, he hits you with “Now, now young lady, shouldn’t you be heading inside too? You are our manager afterall. Karasuno’s manager would never get so easily distracted by a view that she forgets her place now, would she?”

You were speechless. Unable to muster up any kind of comeback. His words on repeat in your head… ‘young lady’... ‘Karasuno’s manager would never get so easily distracted’... ‘forgets her place’ like a broken record. You wanted to hear him say it again. The worst part is, he read your mind. “Speechless - are we, my love?” he bends down to whisper in your ear, “Or maybe you want me to repeat mysel-”

“Tsukkiii! l/n-san! What’s taking you so lon-” Yamaguchi stops as he sees Tsukishima bending down to your ear. You freeze. Tsukishima doesn’t flinch, instead, he fixes himself upright and shoots Tadashi a look. What was it exactly? You couldn’t see, but it was enough to make Yams run back inside.

Without saying another word to you, Tsukishima parts from your side and walks on inside.

“Gomen, Tsukki! Did I interrupt something?” Yamaguchi whisper yells to Tsukishima, running towards him nervously. You walk inside the gym to see them standing next to each other. You immediately stop. Yamaguchi sees you arrive and shoots you a worried look, causing Tsukishima to turn back and look at you.

Kei then looks back at Tadashi, mustering up the best fake smile he could, and says “Not at all.”

'I knew you could hear me!'

You awoke to the tender warmth of your boyfriend behind you, flowing comfort and security through your body. Foggy brained and still half asleep, it took a few seconds to realise the two if you were cooped up in bed on this cozy night. But how did you get here? Soon enough you began to recall what happened earlier.

You had come home from work after an understatement of a 'rough day', dropping all you had equipped by the door before crumbling onto the couch, falling asleep within minutes. Akaashi heard the front door from his office and called out 'Okaeri, y/n.' to receive no response. He hurried downstairs in the fear of something having happened to you. Have you fallen? Were you hurt? No one else was outside were they? It was 7:30PM and due to the time of year, sunset was usually around 6, meaning it was highly likely for people to be prowling around. Even in a neighborhood like yours which was considered 'relatively safe' there have been a few incidents in the past of robberies in the area. So Keji made sure to be that much more protective of you and the house. The ability to work from home helped with that.

Yet all his worries melted away at the sight of you dozed off on the sofa, half hanging off and phone about to fall from your back pocket. He reached for the phone, grabbing it just as it fell, slipping it into his pocket and let out a slight giggle followed by a smile. Akaashi watched over you in awe, a gaze that could only be described as pure love and admiration. You wore your favourite (and his favourite) black top with frilled sleeves and a lace adorned neck. Along with a simple pair of jeans, paired with matching black heels and a large camo green jacket, both of which you had left by the door. An outfit that you cutely presented to Akaashi earlier that morning "How do I look? Do you think the jacket's too much? It's chilly today so I just thought I might - - Idk.." you trailed off. Even you could hear the lack of confidence in your voice, despite having tried your hardest to hide it.

Akaashi noticed. There's very little about you that he doesn’t notice. He made sure to take note of the small things. He could tell when you were upset over something when no one else could, if you felt even the slightest bit uncomfortable around certain people, he would make an excuse for the two of you to leave or he would shelter you if it was a specific person who disturbed you. If you needed some extra love, he was on it. Akaashi did whatever he could to soothe you with his comfort. And it made you love him even more than you thought possible. “No, not at all, Dear. The jacket ties it all together. You couldn't look any more beautiful right now, my love.” His reassurance bought a slight blush over your cheeks and you hid your face with embarrassment, earning a chuckle from your partner. “I mean it.” he says, “Every word.”

There you lay, lips slightly parted as you huffed the cutest breaths and noises while wriggling sheepishly as if you could sense his presence near you within your sleep. Right when he thought you couldn't get any cuter, there you were. Akaashi's heart pounded in his chest at the mere sight as he was once again reminded that he was the luckiest man alive.

A smile washed over his face as he bent down and scooped you up in his arms whispering softly, “I love you, y/n. More than you will ever know.” then bought you close to his chest and carried you upstairs to your shared bedroom. He gently placed you down and planted a soft kiss on your forehead, wrapping you in the duvet and closing the blinds surrounding the room with a comforting darkness. You were none of the wiser, sound asleep as your boyfriend left for a few minutes and then returned with a glass of water, a change of clothes along with your bags and phone from downstairs, which he placed on the nightstand next to you. Just in case you wake up, he thought. Everything is here for you.

Akaashi's office was right next to the bedroom, so he continued his emails and conference calls while regularly checking in on you to make sure you were okay. Hours had passed and it was now 11:27PM. You had been sound asleep this whole time and Akaashi finally decided to join you. “Hey sleepyhead, mind if I join you?” he whispered to your sleeping figure before crawling into bed next to you and pulling you into his chest, resting his face in the crook of your neck, humming in delight, swiftly falling asleep.

You softly giggled at the memory of how you exhaustedly flopped to sleep, and after realizing Akaashi had carried you up to bed, a soft blush covered face and your heart pounded with glee. You loved each other deeply, and it showed. But now you faced a new dilemma... You needed the bathroom. Of all times your bladder decided to give up on you, it had to be now. Left with no other rational choice, and as smoothly as you could, you snaked your way out of his arms and off the bed. Looking back at Keiji to see he was still asleep, you silently congratulated your success and began the search for your phone to check the time, hoping Akaashi had brought it up since it was no longer in your pocket. (luckily ya boi was one step ahead). But… Navigating in the dark suddenly seemed impossible, mimicked by your bumps, kicks and ‘ouch’s as you fumbled around. You finally located your device. It read 2:34AM. Flicking on the built in flashlight, dimming it with your fingertip and creeping towards the ensuite, you shuddered. “Where are you going, baby?” the words startling you so much, making you flinch and drop your phone on your foot “ah itai!” you squeak and turn back to see Akaashi sitting up rubbing his eyes, half asleep. “Is everything okay, y/n?” He croaked. “I'm so sorry babe!” you scrambled for your phone and turned off the torch. “I didn't mean to wake you up- I just need the bathroom really badly”

“No no your fine babygirl, don't worry about me. You go.-” he continued, “- Can I get you anything?” Despite being woken up his words were coated with endless love. “No thank you baby, I'm alright.” you shot him a loving smile which was quite pointless in the pitch black room, but you were sure he sensed it. “Please go back to sleep, I'll be back in a few minutes.”

“Ahh that was close.” you muttered to yourself as you shut the door and flicked on the light. “That was about to end really badly and on top of that my clumsy ass woke him up!” Could I be any stupider? You thought. The situation wasn't that bad at all and if any accidents had happened, Akaashi wouldn't make you feel bad about it in the slightest. He wouldn't dwell on it trying his best to rid of any embarrassment.

You made sure to try and be quieter this time in case Akaashi had fallen back asleep. You flicked off the light and slowly opened the door, readying your dimmed light source again. Shining the light forward towards the bed, eyes following the path. You caught a glimpse of forced open heavy eyes peering back at you. “Awh baby, I told you to go back to sleep” you uttered to him. “Sleeping is always better with princess, so I figured I'd hold out. Please, come cudd-” his words were interrupted by his own yawn and you couldn't help but giggle a little. How is he this cute? Climbing back into bed and snuggling into his arms earn’t you a hum of approval “mmm.. Much better” making you giggle once more. “Thank you for bringing me to bed, Keiji.” you whispered sweetly. But just as you did, a strange noise echoed through your ear. “Keiji? Can you hear me?” your voice laced with slight concern before you registered it was your boyfriend snoring. He rarely ever snored, so this took you by surprise. “Goodnight, my prince.” you started. “I'll be sure to thank you tomorrow with Nanohana no Karashiae.” you whispered. “Mmm my favourite” Akaashi added then pulled you in closer. “You were awake! - - - I knew you could hear me! Tch.” you tut in disapproval and feel the setter smile into your neck “Aishiteru, y/n.”
