Even though my requests are technically closed, I did it! This could have been a scenario in its own right but it's bullet points instead!

Zoro with a fem love interest who is afraid of thunder

. The two of you are working out in the Sunny's gym, each doing your own thing while rain lashes the windows.

. You're doing sit ups when the first crack of thunder splits the air outside, accompanied by a searing flash of lightning.

. Despite yourself, you can't help but let out a little yelp, your body spasming in fear at the loud sound.

. At first glance it seems like Zoro hasn't noticed, too wrapped up in his own workout. So you try to pretend like nothing happened.

. You move across the room to the dumbbells, behind him and pick out a set, glancing nervously at the windows.

. Cautiously you start doing some curls, hoping the thunder has passed until another crack resounds around the room.

. You accidentally drop the dumbbell, biting your lip in an attempt to stifle your shout of surprise.

. "You okay, Name?" Zoro asks, glancing over his shoulder at you. He can't have failed to notice the dumbbell slipping from your hand.

. "O-oh yeah I'm fine," you force out a laugh, bending down to rerack the weight at your feet. "I'm being clumsy today. I think I'm gonna call it quits."

. Zoro raises his eyebrows. You never usually cut your training short.

. "Alright," he shrugs, returning to his squats.

. You pack your things away, wincing away from the window as another peal of thunder shakes the glass.

. Zoro continues with his workout, saying nothing about your strange behaviour as you head over to the hatch.

. As soon as you open the trap door, exposing the wild weather outside, another burst of thunder and lightning splits the sky, causing you to shriek and fall backwards.

. Before you hit the ground a pair of thick arms brace you on either side, a solid chest at your back.

. Zoro looks down at you with his singular eye and shakes his head.

. "You're such a baby," he grumbles, kicking the trap door shut and hoisting you up over his shoulder.

. "Oi! Zoro put me down!" You demand, then wrap your arms around him, tucking your face against his sweat damp skin as more thunder rocks the crows nest.

. You hear a different rumble fill the room as Zoro starts to chuckle. A moment later he drops down onto a window seat, depositing you in his lap.

. "I can't believe your afraid of thunder," Zoro snorts, letting his head flop back against the wall, eye slipping closed.

. "If you're going to make fun of me just let me leave," You sulk, not looking at him.

. "You think I'm going to let you climb down that ladder?" He asks, cracking his eye to look at you again. He snorts. "A little thunder and we're scraping you off the deck."

. You huff, but confirm his suspicions when another boom of thunder makes you jump, pressing yourself against him.

. Zoro tuts, but his arm comes up around you and pulls you against his chest where the steady sound of his heartbeat drowns out the rumble of thunder.

Does anybody else get legitimately worried when a fanfic author who was updating regularly just suddenly disappears with no warning? Like, is it a serious case of writers block or are they in a coma? Did they just up and quit? Was it me? Were my reviews not good enough?! Did they die 😳?! Were they kidnapped? Do I need to file a missing persons report? Excuse me officer, there’s been 13 weekly updates and now nothing for months! Find them! What’s their name?! Name!? I don’t know their name but they write 3k+ chapters and I need them safe and back in my life!

6: What do you use to keep your place when you’re reading a book?

I grabbed so many paper bookmarks from my last job over the year that I worked there lol they were just ones we printed ourselves on cardstock but every time I bought a new book (or 12) I would grab like 3 bookmarks so now they're scattered all over my boxes of books lol I also have a cool metal bookmark my previous boss gave me! It's a feather on one end (sorta looks like a hook) and dangling from the other end is a sun and moon pendant. It's really nice so I've been using that now that I'm not worried about losing it lol

7: What color dominates your closet?

Hmm...either black or red I think. Actually probably black just because it goes with anything, I do love picking out the most obnoxiously colored outfits though lol at all times I strive to look like a paint palette threw up on me

19: What’s your favorite Halloween costume from when you were a kid?

Hmm I had this witchy costume in 4th grade that I adored - it had this thin gauzy coat/cloak thing with sparkly purple spiderwebs all over it, and the sleeves draped from the elbows. It was my first instance of feeling like a real witch, and it solidified a lasting love of fancy drape-y sleeves (I don't know fashion enough to know what you would call it, but they are my favorite style of sleeve lol)

48: Do you have a favorite plate or bowl?

All my plates and bowls are brand new and part of the same set so as of right now, no, but I DO have favorite cups and they are the Burger King exclusive light up promotional Fellowship of the Ring glasses lol I had the Arwen glass growing up, it mysteriously disappeared from my dad's years ago when I moved out (I didn't take it with me but it's not there anymore), and when I moved into my new place one of the first things I did was order the full set so I replaced the one I lost plus got 3 I never had 😁 now when I have guests I can break out the fancy cups (sadly the light up parts were...gross lol so they went in the trash, but the glasses themselves are perfectly usable!)

I don't like eggs actually 🙈 occasionally I'll get a craving for an omelet, but I need a ton of fillings or I can't eat it lol

Now that I think about it I don't think I really have any collections? I have a collection of random items that don't go together but I just liked them and wanted to have them lol

9. What sounds or scents calm you down?

Rainfall, thunder, peppermint, lavender. I listen to ASMR at night to help me fall asleep too so basic triggers like tapping and whispering really gets me lol

11. Do you wear glasses or contacts?

Nope! I was somehow blessed with perfect vision (everyone in my family has terrible vision, no clue how this happened, I'll probably just go blind one day lol). My son just had to get glasses though lol

I like that I can erase pencil but I'm a sucker for a really nice pen so I'm gonna say pen lol

This is a tough one lol I feel like I'd wanna be able to observe a lot of ancient history, the things historians still have questions about when it comes to "Why did they do this?" "What was this built for?" I just want to understand everything lol

All of them lmao I'm pretty partial to musicals, Disney, stuff like that. I'm actually planning to audition for a musical this week (local community theatre) so lately I've been practicing for that!

26. Can you cook or bake? If so, what are some of your specialties?

I enjoy both though I'm still learning to do things from scratch instead of following a box recipe lol I make some really awesome chocolate chip cookies though! (I hate to be cheesy but considering it's literally just the recipe on the back of the bag but people have said multiple times mine are the best they've ever had, the secret ingredient really is love lmao)

34. Can you read analog clocks?

Yup! I've got one in my living room actually. It doesn't even have actual numbers on it lol

35. Describe your favorite stuffed animal, either now or from when you were a kid.

As a kid my dad won me a big purple teddy bear with a biker hat and jacket. I named him Purpley (I was 7 🤷‍♀️). Currently my favorite is a shark pillow I bought 2 weeks ago. I call him Sharky, but his legal name is Ronaldo

45. Do you have good handwriting?

If I focus really hard and write slowly I can make it look kinda nice, but most of the time it's a bit of a mess lol I write with some combination of printing and cursive so it all flows together lol

46. What’s the last thing a friend recommended to you that you looked into and actually liked?

The current (as of 2022) cast recording of Into the Woods! That's the musical I'm auditioning for, and a friend who is also planning to audition sent me a link to the album to give me more to practice with. I really enjoyed listening to it, and I like some of the ways the current class sings a bit better than the original cast. Also had a friend tell me where to find the stage version on YouTube since I had only seen the movie. Definitely prefer the stage version 😂

47. Do you like to go on walks?

With other people, yes! Or if I'm walking to a specific destination! I like being outside I just feel weird about being out alone lol

49. What’s your favorite thing to do when it’s raining?

Sit and read a book, light a candle or some incense, just relax lol just last night we had a storm and I sat out on my balcony with a book (the awning is long enough that no rain got in, but the lightning started getting close so I went back inside lol)

Ice cold, fan on, rolled up in a bunch of blankets, rain hitting the window, maybe even having the window open slightly (so long as there's no bugs). Not quite pitch black, but very low light so it's not disturbing. Just enough to keep my eyes from playing tricks on me in the dark lol

Life Update!

Hello all, it's been a while since I really checked in here and I have some good news!

*drum roll*

Finally, after 5.5 months since the breakup, I'm moving into *my own place* this upcoming weekend!! I am so incredibly excited, and also extremely overwhelmed trying to figure out what I need to buy (first time completely on my own - plus the child - and I'm starting completely from scratch. I left pretty much everything with my ex), but no matter what this is going to be such a good thing for us going forward.

As far as this blog and writing goes I'm sincerely hoping this means things will finally settle down for me, I'll be able to get out of survival mode and relax and finally sit down and write (I have so many ideas! So many things I want to write! But it's been such an exhausting few months). I really genuinely appreciate everyone being so patient with me 💕💕 I can't wait for this next chapter!

Incredibly random thought, but: I gave Hazel curly hair because I always wanted curly hair, but it turns out I actually *have* curly hair very close to the style I gave her, which means that if she actually knew how to take care of her hair it would be even more curly...

All this to say that basically Hazel has no clue how to maintain her curls which gives me a lot of creative space for hair-based descriptions lmfao

The anniversary of the day you joined the crew was quickly approaching, and in typical Whitebeard Pirate fashion, they were planning a substantial celebration for you.

There was no one more grateful you joined the crew besides their very own 2nd Division Commander. You were undoubtedly Ace’s best friend among the crew; the two of you hardly ever seen without the other. That’s why Marco left him the utmost important mission of keeping you distracted while they finished with decorations and last minute preparations. Ace tried his hardest to fulfill his mission by keeping you company in your cabin — not too different from his daily routine.

Though, he really wished he would’ve been given more explicit instruction other than just keeping you ‘preoccupied’. What exactly was he supposed to preoccupy you with? The two of you could chat for hours on end. You’ve done so countless times before, but could he actually keep you cooped up in your room for long enough?

The answer was clearly no, since you quickly became eager to sneak into the kitchen — where the chefs were busy preparing your favorite dishes — for an afternoon snack.

“What is up with you?” you wondered aloud as you reached over to check his temperature. “You never turn down food. Are you ill?”

The warmth of your hand against his forehead was surely enough to bring him to feverish degrees. Your touch often did that, as did your genuine care for him. How could he not have fallen for you?

“I’m fine!” he reassured you with a groan. A result of you removing your hand. He didn’t want it to leave just yet. Or ever. “I just don’t want to face Thatch’s wrath again. My head still hurts from the frying pan he threw at me last time.”

You snickered, “Oh, so the frying pan caused you to lose the last brain cell you had?”

Thump. He smirked. Ace was a sucker for your playful banter. He’d often hoped it was flirting, but even though Ace knew you best, he couldn’t gauge your feelings for him. Did you feel the same way? Was he in your head half as often as you were on his mind?

“Yeah, I’m sorry I don't have any for you to borrow now.”

You rolled your eyes with a smile, “Well, I’m starving and Thatch adores me, so I’m going to go grab a snack. I’ll sneak something for you too. You need to eat. You’ve hardly eaten all day.”

Thump thump. You always looked after him and he loved that about you. Ace loved you. He was never more sure of anything.

He hadn’t eaten all day because he was saving his appetite for the big feast, but of course he couldn’t tell you that. You seemed to be convinced that he wasn’t feeling well. Maybe he could use that to his advantage?

As you rose to your feet, Ace thought quickly and clutched at his stomach, doubling over with an exaggerated groan, “You’re right. I’m not feeling so well…”

You released your hold on the door knob and rushed over to him, rubbing circles against his back and cooing at him. He only felt a little bad about faking an illness, but he could really get used to the feeling of you taking care of him. It felt so natural being here with you.

“Here, lay down,” you directed as you helped Ace into your bed. He looked pitiful staring up at you; those all too familiar dark eyes tugging at your heartstrings. You absentmindedly reached out to swipe some hair out of his eyes and nearly melted when he leaned into your touch. “I’ll go get Marco. Stay here.”

Shit. You’d nearly made him forget why he was faking being sick, let alone what he was supposed to be doing in the first place. Ace struggled in stopping you from walking out the door, struggling even further with getting out from under your covers. He tripped and fell onto the wooden floor, scrambling to his feet as he stumbled down the hallway chasing after you.

“No, wait!” he called after you. You were a few paces ahead of him and quickly made it out onto the deck, stopping only when he caught up to you.

You turned to him with your brows furrowed, “What are you doing? I thought you didn’t feel well?”

Ace was well aware he wouldn’t be able to fool you twice, but you were out in the open now. Exposed to any and all potential spoilers of your celebration. He wasn’t sure he’d be able to lure you back into your room in any normal manner. What the hell was he supposed to do now?

“I’m going to go see Marco to figure out what the hell is wrong with you. I thought I heard him a second ago.” You swivelled your head to find the ship’s doctor.

Ace caught sight of some crewmates behind you, under Marco’s direction, carrying a giant balloon arch along the other end of the main deck and attempting to sneak it into the mess hall. Marco met Ace’s eyes with wide ones, panicked. He shook his head violently as he tried to hurry the crewmates out of your sight. Just as you were about to turn around to catch them in the act, Ace instinctively pulled you closer.

His warm hands cupped your cheeks, positioning your face mere inches from his. He could hear you, feel you gasp against his lips. Your warm breath fanning his own lips left him dizzy, wings fluttering madly in his gut he thought they might lift him off the ground. Having you this close to him was new, intoxicating, intimate. He felt near breathless as he continued to hold you still and you showed no sign of leaving his embrace.

“Don’t go,” he whispered gently, a calloused thumb grazing your cheek.

You sighed and Ace expected you to offer more defiance, to push him away, but instead you stared up at him expectantly, eyes blinking slow. Were you pulling him closer or was he leaning in?

He was surely running a fever now.

Your breaths mingled, lips hovering, noses brushing. The way Ace’s eyes would shamelessly drop to stare at your lips left you wondering how you were even still standing. You’d suddenly forgotten where you were or why you were even there in the first place. All you knew in this moment was him. Just you and him.

“Ace…” you sighed; a helpless plea for him to be closer.

Your name dripped from his lips like honey. You wanted to know if he’d taste just as sweet. Just as you were about to taste for yourself, a teasing voice pierced through the gentle thrumming in your ears.

“Are you two going to keep canoodling each other out on the deck or are you going to come join the party?”

The tension quickly dissipated with Thatch’s voice, causing Ace to drop his hands and you to take a hasty step backward. You turned to look at Thatch who was grinning mischievously. A crowd of crewmates behind him giggled like school girls. When you turned back to Ace, staring at him quizzically, he could only smile.

“Party? What are we celebrating?” Your voice sounded hoarse; unfamiliar. You were still jittery from the anticipation. You were actually going to kiss your best friend.

Though the tension was gone, you could tell something significant had changed between the two of you from that briefly intense moment. You’d always known your feelings for Ace were deeper than friendly, but looking at him now was like looking in a mirror. Ace stared at you in a way akin to lovers and though he was no longer caressing your face, you could feel a warm hand around your own, and another grip around your heart, squeezing as he replied,

“You, of course.”

Opinions Needed!

I can’t figure out how polls work (is that a feature only some people have so far? I have not been very active on here lately lmao), but I can still just ask a question and have y’all inbox/reply what you think lol so, the question:

I don’t want to make any promises yet because I don’t know what’s gonna happen, but to those of you who read Together With Fruit: hi, I apologize that it is taking me so damn long to update. In light of my long-term hiatus, would you prefer a longer chapter when I eventually update? Or, rather, would you be ok with a longer chapter? Or is it preferred that I make it shorter despite how long it’s been? (note that it being longer won’t have any impact on how long it takes me to finish it! It’s not like asking for a shorter chapter will make it come out faster, that’s never really been my style or method of writing lol this is just to help me determine where I need to end the next chapter!)
