Hello! Thank you and thanks a lot for your question it's a good one! Truth is I'm not some experienced veteran or anything and only really got into the job(s) this very same year.

This is gonna sound crazy but really I was just shooting emails to small youtubers I enjoyed, it's a bit tougher with bigger ones (Unless they blew up overnight and are still fresh) because those tend to have already a established branding and style (Although this may depend on the channel since I've had people who wanted a light rebrand of sorts). However don't be afraid to ask anyways, the worst thing you can do is not try and at worst you don't get a reply back which is totally fine or it may take some time (I landed a big gig thatll you'll hear more of in January but It took like 2 months to get a reply for that one) I answered to an open call for an artist for that one though which is also something worth keeping an eye out for.

Don't get demotivated if you get turned down or don't get a reply at all, if you want a job keep looking for an appropriate channel you'd like to work with, it's also likely that initially on your first few takes on a channel it may not do well but this ties into the having a stablished style and brand, once you work more with that person (and they understand that it's also kind of a transitional period for the channel) things should smooth out over time.

Also the most valuable things I can say as tips for the job is that regardless of the quality of your craft I think good staging/composition and colors are king. Organize something neatly and know your colors and you'll be golden! Also remember you're making something with an intention and purpose and the input of the channel owner may be valuable too. I may get a bit rambly but often with these things (And graphics design generally) you're told to just completely agree to anything regardless of if you think it's better or worse for the intention the thing is being created for. Don't be afraid to discuss ideas, propose stuff and explain why you think something may or may not work, your perspective as the artist is as valuable as theirs as someone potentially more knowledgeable in the YouTube landscape.

I've still been doing studies and the like to improve on my own but I definitely wanna get around doing stuff for myself more but it's been a little busy and sometimes I'm not always in the mood. I hope to make a thing or two by January since I'll be gone for new years
