As You Are: Mark shot himself

So, I watched the movie As You Are a while ago. This was mostly because I was depressed because Jonathan's, from Stranger Things, screen time had been cut, and he's about the only character I'm emotionally attached too.

As You Are was freaking amazing, but when I was scrolling through the YouTube comment section everyone was so sure that Jack killed Mark. Why would he ask for a lawyer if he didn't? Well he was high off cough syrup in the woods when it happened, so who knows? But, I think Mark shot himself because of two references in this movie.

The first reference was Kurt Cobain. A major turning point in the movie was when Cobain died. This broke Jack's heart, and when Jack said that things starting to go wrong in their life. When they found out Mark jokingly said, "Well, I guess he did have a gun." This was in reference to a Nirvana song.

The second reference was when Mark was making fun of the song Jeremy by Pearl Jam. He was singing the lyrics mockingly, and Jack was very adamant that it was not Pearl Jam's best song. As some people may know Jeremy is about a fifteen year-old boy who shot himself in front of English class.

In my opinion this is enough context clues to think that Mark had shot himself in the head while in the woods. If it was Jack then why would they add these major references.

If anyone else has enough information to prove me wrong let me know. I would also highly recommend watching the movie.
