i am honest to god devastated. something happened and tumblr terminated my new blog, don't know why don't know if it's going to come back but at least i have this one for now. i sent a request for their support but considering the first error (i had created the account with the wrong email, adding @gmail instead of @outlook) was fixed by myself im doubtful of it ever working out.

today i’m thinking about how just before Senna’s last race, TF1 wanted to record Senna driving around the track saying nice things about it on the radio for a Williams publicity thing but Senna completely ignored what he was supposed to do to say ‘i would like to say welcome to my old friend, alain prost, tell him we miss him very much’.

what a soft moment. their rivalry is so glorified but people don’t talk about how good they were for each other, and how good they were to each other, in those last days.

and then when they met after that at a lunch thing? and the race was about to begin soon after but nobody could find senna because he was hanging out with prost? and then he asks prost to meet him at the garage?

how in the words of alain prost himself, senna was just making small talk with him before the race, because in that moment, he just wanted to be with prost, and talk to him. he was nervous and afraid before the race which was so uncharacteristic of him and he went looking for solace in his longtime rival who he called over the phone and begged to return to the sport because he said formula 1 wasn’t the same for senna without prost and he didn’t care about beating any of the other drivers he was only thinking about prost and right after the whole nervous small talk shenanigans happened the fateful crash took place and god i can’t believe this entire thing happened in real life it’s so heartbreaking and tender and SKDKSKKS it’s like 4:30 am in the morning here and i’m just having SO MANY FEELINGS and i’ll write this all down in a less incoherently rambling way but for now HERE ARE MY FEELINGS

Just saw someone tagging this with something along the lines of "just found out senninha means little senna, thats so cute" and it made me remember not everyone might know the story behind Senna's animated character!

Senninha was born in 1994 as a project of Ayrton himself, famous illustrators who worked with "Turma da Mônica" - the most well known series of childrens comic books in Brazil - and Ayrton's mother, Mrs. Neyde. Senna wanted to create charity projects for childrens education, so I imagine his first step was to make a character the kids could relate with.

They released a couple of issues of Senninha's magazine before Ayrton died, but ultimatly his dream of a charity and an educational character for kids had to be taken up by his family. It's quite sad to me he didn't get to see how impactful Senninha would turn out to be.

Senninha is still very dear to Brazilian children and even if they dont connect the tiny brunnete figure to the three times World Champion - yes there are children who don't know who he is but know Senninha! - they can still have lots of fun with the magazines, tv shows, online games and toys!

I myself knew of Senninha much earlier then I recognized who Senna was, and even played at a Senninha car at a shopping mall event once, so I hope this can show to people outside of Brazil how important Ayrton's character is and that he really exists outside of old photos and videos!
