It's been eight years since the last Kung Fu Panda movie was released; during that time, Jack Black had been kept in the dark about whether the series was dead or alive. Of course, he'd hoped he would get a chance to play Po again, but with each passing year, he figured the franchise was over. And then, he got the call about Kung Fu Panda 4, and said he could barely contain his excitement

Mariska Hargitay was born and raised in Los Angeles, but when she answered a casting call for a new Law & Order show in 1999, the show would be filming in New York City. When she won the starring role, little did she know she'd be spending the next 25 years (and counting) working in the Big Apple. We've spoken to Hargitay many times over the course of the show, and she acknowledged that her work on SVU has changed her not only professionally, but also personally.
Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC, and episodes start streaming the following day on Peacock.

Casting for a new television show is always an interesting process. Sometimes, producers have an actor in mind when they've created a character; other times, the process can be long and arduous. When actors respond to a show's casting call, they know there will be plenty of competition, so they often brace themselves for disappointment. When the show Ghosts was casting a few years ago, Richie Moriarty took his chances. Spoiler alert: He got the role on the show. But, as he told a Comic-Con panel audience a few years ago, landing the role on the comedy series didn't come without some drama.
Ghosts airs Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS, and episodes start streaming the following day on Paramount+.

After joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Steve Rogers and his alter ego, Captain America, in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, Chris Evans made 11 appearances in the MCU films, culminating with the finale of the Avengers saga, Avengers: Endgame. When that film was released in 2019, the stakes -- and expectations -- were high, after the shocking finale of Infinity War. When Endgame was released, Evans was confident that the filmmakers had struck just the right note with the Avengers' swan song.
Avengers: Endgame is currently streaming on Disney+ and available on DVD, Blu-Ray, 4K, and most digital platforms.

Many of the film roles that Robin Williams took during his career were either based upon or tailored to the comedian/actor's manic persona. So, when he was given the chance to "play it straight" in a movie, he relished the opportunity. One of those films was the 1995 adventure film Jumanji, in which he played the grown-up version of a boy who'd been sucked into the Jumanji game as a child. When the film was released, Williams told us -- in his own inimitable way -- why he was so happy to get the role. 聽
Jumanji is currently streaming on Hulu and available on DVD, Blu-Ray, 4K, and most digital platforms.

聽It may sound strange now, after he's been in the role for more than two decades, but Ice-T never intended to be a series regular on Law & Order: SVU. So how did he wind up playing Fin Tutola on SVU for 24 years and counting? Well, he'd built up a relationship with producer Dick Wolf over the years, and when Wolf asked him to take a "small" role on SVU, it was an offer Ice-T literally couldn't refuse.
Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC, and episodes start streaming the following day on Peacock.

Even though she was never a series regular, Carrie Preston became a fan favorite on The Good Wife with her occasionally recurring character, Elsbeth Tascioni. In fact, her appearances on the show earned her a pair of Primetime Emmy nominations as a guest actor, and she won the award in 2013. After The Good Wife signed off, Preston reprised the role on the first Good Wife spinoff series, The Good Fight. Now, Preston's character is getting her own spinoff series, Elsbeth. While The Good Wife and The Good Fight were dramas with some comedic elements, Elsbeth is more of a comedy with dramatic undercurrents. It's created and produced by the same team that created the previous series, Robert and Michelle King, and Preston says she's grateful to be given the chance to expand the role beyond the guest shots she'd previously gotten.
Elsbeth airs Thursdays at 10/9c on CBS, and episodes start streaming the following day on Paramount+.

By 1991, the late Whitney Houston had already conquered the music industry, scoring nine #1 hits, selling more than 50 million albums worldwide, and earning 10 Grammy Awards nominations (winning twice). And while she'd made a few appearances on episodic TV shows -- mostly playing herself -- an acting career had been something she'd had on her radar for a long time. It looked like that would come to fruition when she was approached to play the lead role in The Bodyguard, a film that had been in development for many years. As much as she wanted to land a movie, though, Houston almost turned down the role. When the movie was initially released in 1992, she said it was her co-star, Kevin Costner, who ultimately convinced her to make the film.
The Bodyguard is available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and most digital platforms.

Deal or No Deal, of course, was a popular game show that was part of NBC's primetime schedule for four seasons, from 2005 to 2009. Now, the show is returning, but with a twist: It's been reconfigured as Deal or No Deal Island, and it features 13 contestants in a Survivor-like race to be the last one standing, then being able to choose a winning briefcase with what could be the biggest payout in the show's history. Though original host Howie Mandel is once again involved as an executive producer, Joe Manganiello is hosting the show, and he talked about what viewers can expect.
Deal or No Deal Island airs Mondays at 10/9c on NBC, and episodes start streaming the following day on Peacock.

Back in 2004, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt were announced as the stars of the movie that would become The Departed, although Pitt later bowed out of his on-screen role (though he stayed on as a producer of the film). It wouldn't be until 2019 that the two made a movie together, Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. That film, of course, went on to become a box office hit and earned 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and acting nods for both DiCaprio and Pitt (Pitt won for Best Supporting Actor). At the time of the film's release, we spoke to both DiCaprio and Pitt, who talked about what it was like for the two of them to finally work together.

When he wrote the novel more than 160 years ago, Victor Hugo never could have imagined the life that Les Miserables would have beyond its pages. Over the years, it's been adapted into hundreds of works, including dozens of films and, of course, the famous musical, which has been running in London's West End since 1985 and has played all over the world. Of course, the musical adaptation was, itself, transformed into a movie, the three-time Oscar-winning 2012 film starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Anne Hathaway, who won one of those Academy Awards as Best Supporting Actress. When Hathaway took the role, she was well aware of the musical's large and enthusiastic following; when the film was released, she told us she'd never been involved in a project that had been so eagerly anticipated by so many fans.
Les Miserables is available on DVD, Blu-Ray, 4K, and most digital platforms.

Starring as the title character in Argylle, Henry Cavill reunited with director Matthew Vaughn -- they'd previously worked together on the 2007 film Stardust. How long can The Rookie be a rookie? After all, the show is now in its sixth season, which would make Nathan Fillion's character a veteran now, right? Well, not exactly -- at least, that's what Fillion says. As long as John Nolan keeps encountering new experiences in his life, Fillion said, he'll always be a "rookie."
The Rookie airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC, and episodes start streaming the following day on Hulu.

Ordinary Angels is the latest film to feature Hilary Swank playing a real-life character, and it's directed by Jon Gunn, who's made a name for himself both writing and directing films that tell real-life stories. He's written American Underdog, the film about former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner; I Still Believe, a film based on the life of Christian singer Jeremy Camp; and Jesus Revolution, based on a true story, while the last movie he directed, The Case for Christ, was also based on a true story. According to Swank, Gunn was the perfect choice for a movie like Ordinary Angels, and she really appreciated his approach to filmmaking.
Ordinary Angels is now playing in theaters.
