my boyfriend waving to me as he passes me on the lift. he’s teaching me how to snowboard but if you’ve ever been snowboarding you know how terrifying it is. i go down the bunny slope then i get on the lift to watch him have fun. and there is nothing like a view of the mountains on a lift!!
it’s so insane to me that most of the people you meet in life are just passing moments. you’ll know them for a brief period of time before they’re a stranger again and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it because that is just how it’s meant to be..
after using tumblr for the first time in five years, i realize that i forgot what it was like to enjoy posting on social media. like it has always been For The Vibe and i lost sight of that
a good beginning of the year writing exercise. i’m forgiving myself in advance for any goals that may not have been completed this year. it honestly doesn’t feel like it’s going to be a very transformative year in terms of my physical, spiritual and emotional position in life. it feels like i’ll still be living at home, paying my loans, working (hopefully at a job that i enjoy at the very least), not do nearly the amount of traveling that i have done in the last 2 years, and probably not be much closer to financial or spiritual independence. and that’s all okay because not every year is meant to be some big transformation where everything i have ever wanted to do works out, but that has always been my mentality towards new years. this year i’m taking everything slowly, paying extra attention to what fulfills me and what is simply excess, and not let disappointment in things not going the way that i thought they would turn into disappointment in myself. life is hard enough as it is.
such a beautiful wonderful day. my boyfriend is insane and got me a snowboard for christmas so that we could have a fun “couple” activity to do together. he loves it, i suck at it but i enjoy the views and the laughs with the inevitable pain that comes with falling down a mountain.
Once again its the day we all wait for, public domain day. the day some thing get ripped out of the clasps of the claws of corporations. This year is notable for many things becoming public domain but specifically a certain mouse in the united states. Here's an example of some of the things but note that this is only a sampling of what's become public domain
In Europe and other life of author + 70 years areas:
The Wind Has Risen by Tatsuo Hori
The polish Koziołek Matołek comics by Kornel Makuszyński
Mr. Weston's Good Wine by T.F Powys
In New Zealand and other life of author + 50 years areas:
J.R.R Tolkien's work, but only the ones published during his lifetime. Things published by his son Christopher are not public domain
Margaret Wilson's The Able McLaughlins
The works of crime writer Lucy Beatrice Malleson (Anthony Gilbert)
In the US:
All things published in 1928
The big one of course, Steamboat Willie and the earliest incarnation of Mickey Mouse. Disney still owns trademarks so be careful and theres some things like his gloves that didnt appear until later and im sure the Mouse's lawyers are watching like hawks
The House at Pooh Corner, first appearance of Tigger
Orlando: A Biography by Virginia Woolf
Theres much more. Take a peek over at Project Gutenberg or The Internet Archive
