internet censorship bill about to pass congress:

ao3 is facing a ddos attack from an overseas right-wing anonymous group because it contains "degeneracy and disgusting things like LGBT and NSFW".

they're not the only right-wing group that is attacking fanfiction sites because of queer & nsfw content. the Heritage foundation, the US right wing think tank that writes laws for republicans, wrote an article about how "big tech turns kids trans" in which they're advocating for the Kid's Online Safety Act to pass because it will give state attorney generals power to sue websites for "potentially harmful content towards minors". in this article they point out websites like wattpad, tumblr, tiktok, twitter as sites that GOP attorney generals can and will target for censorship if this bill passes. all places where fandom, that's mostly queer, hangs out.

if you think this bill has no chance of passing because of all the red flags it poses, think again. it currently has 38 cosponsors in the senate, and is being pushed by the democrats as a "protecting the children!!" type bill.

there are left-aligned orgs in congress rn lobbying for this bill to pass. july is extremely decisive, because if KOSA goes through to markup it'll be bundled with the Earn It act, Restrict, and all the other bad internet bills and passed as a package, completely censoring the internet forever.

My level of insanity is as follows: i invented a fake thing for my fic and it is a thing that I have yet to fully explore in the fic itself because I have plans for it, you see, but because I haven't truly written anything for it yet, I don't have any notes on it so it is hard to plan my upcoming chapters which is why I thought "Oh, OK, I'll just log onto AO3 and search the entire fic for this keyword to read every instance in which it appears to make sure that I don't write new content that retcons current content but AO3 is DOWN so I'm just sat here wondering if I should just go ahead and write about the thing or wait a day which is honestly such a slippery slope for me because the longer I wait to write, the harder it is for me to start writing again but when all is said and done, this all could've been avoided if I just kept detailed notes on upcoming plot points like a normal writer instead of just letting my memory of all things take over things because look where that left me (although if I'm being completely real with myself, I could've sworn I had an ENTIRE DOCUMENT'S WORTH of information on the very thing because I can remember very exact lines of info but it's just nowhere to be found in my google docs so I might be losing it a little). Anyway see you guys next year I guess.

Camping Ask Pt2

This was such a good ask and now I'm back for more. The Hero Reform squad is on a camping trip and there's no signal. Who loves it and who hates it?? If you remember, Phichit left before they could even raise a tent despite Victor's pleas, leaving the hero with Chris who's desperately trying to be OK and Yuuri who's here for a good time, not a long time because his anxiety is telling him it's time to GO once the sun sets.

Oh yes and I'll be telling this story with the help of Schitt's Creek gifs.

Yurio's attitude depends entirely on the fact that a certain someone is also on this camping trip (character dynamic spoiler, so I'm not naming names). He's pouty and quietly grumbly most of the time because he can't use his switch but he would've been FAR worse if this certain someone wasn't also on the trip. He's dragging his feet behind the entire party on their hike to the campsite. He's moodily poking the pile of wood that's meant to be their fire with a stick because he's "helping". He's secretly rolling his eyes whenever the more chipper campers suggest campfire songs to sing. When the certain someone offers to teach him to fish, he reluctantly gives it the old POLITE college try before bowing out, opting for shadowing Victor and grumbling his complaints to his brother. Because he sees right through Victor's act. Chris stays away from Yurio bc he's afraid that the teen is going to out him by being a wet blanket. The only thing that he secretly kind of enjoys is in fact the stargazing. It's peaceful and he likes finding the patterns that make up the constellations. It reminds him of... Animal Crossing.

Yurio when Chris tries to talk himself into being optimistic for the trip:

One time, when Robin and Kenza were new to History Maker, Axle and Felix took them glamping which is like the super cushy and sheltered version of camping. They've been in love with "camping" ever since. They loved the open air aspect of hanging out with their buds and being able to do more outdoorsy things like making smores, fishing, and stargazing. At the end of the day, they could always retreat to their fully furnished tent so it wasn't bad at all! So when the squad camp trip came up they were both like "Yeah OF COURSE we'll go camping with you guys again! This is gonna be awesome! Let's bring everyone!! :DD" But Axle and Felix didn't tell them that they'd be *for real* camping in normal tents at a camp site that they have to hike to.

The thing is, Robin is by no means an outdoorsy person. They only agreed to go on the 1st camping trip when they were promised that they'd have all the comforts of home with the added benefit of being surrounded by nature. So they and Kenza are trying to cover up their distress and disappointment (much more successfully than Chris and Victor) as they hike through the woods, swatting bugs and avoiding animal poo. Kenza enjoys nature a bit more than Robin who is a homebody, but not by much. She's a "jog through the park and stop to admire the ducks on the pond, maybe sit on the grass for a while" girly. Not a "roughin it" girly. They end up enjoying themselves a bit more once they can sit down and make smores under the stars. They're stressed but you'd never know it. They even come up with cute songs to cheer up the other party poopers.

Kenza behind Felix's back when he says it'll be a 4 HOUR LONG HIKE:

Robin to Kenza when they're 2 hours into the hike, covered in bug bites, and still haven't reached the campsite:

Felix and Axle are responsible for this little excursion. They were actually only aiming to have Kenza, Robin, and Yurio come but they lucked out; Kenza and Robin asked Victor and Yurio to come and Yurio couldn't say no since it was 2 against 1. So Victor begged Yuuri K. to come who gave him an easy yes. And then Yuuri K. asked Phichit to come who said "lol sure," and Phichit asked Chris to come. Felix and Axle barely had to lift a finger.

Anyways, these boys love the great outdoors. Hiking, mountain climbing, white water rafting, you name it. They've been trying to get Kenza and Robin into the more natural side of life which is why they started soft with glamping. And that's how they trapped them. They are so ECSTATIC that everyone came along, so much so that they are not too upset when Phichit decides to leave. They're not totally aware that everyone else isn't having the best time because they're just excited that they were able to get such a large party to come with them. For Axle, he's just thrilled that he gets to spend time with everyone away from the stress of work. He misses everyone :')

Felix is checking out the birds, pointing out snakes, finding animal tracks, teaching the squad how to do camping stuff, and picking out the mushrooms you can eat. Whole time Axle is beside him hiding happy tears.

The cast of HR go on a camping trip together, somewhere with no signal. Who absolutely loves it and who absolutely hates it?

I'll answer this with Schitt's Creek gifs.

Phichit hates it. Like. "What even are we doing out here? What's the point? You want to go to sleep? We have beds for that? Beds that are inside and away from bugs??? And Dirt??? Where am I supposed to pee? Why are you drinking river water I'm—"

The point of camping is LOST on him because if he wanted better versions of the things he has on a camping trip (food, water, toilet) he could find it in a fraction of a second with his super speed. So the idea that he's just supposed to NOT go seek these better things in favor of you know. Traditional Camping Things. is just bonkers and wildly inefficient to him. It makes no sense. Connection to the outdoors? He's seen trees before. He's not missing anything. In fact, He's left the campsite the moment your party has arrived. Because you know what he IS missing??? Insta.

Yuuri K. is not necessarily look forward to this trip but he's also not complaining. The thing is, the only time he's been in the wilderness is when he was training with Minako or on official Thief Business. So, the prospect of being in the woods with Friends for Shits and Giggles is kind of interesting to him. He's got what it takes to be a good camper: high endurance, accustomed to spartan conditions, and very resourceful. He's up to the task of starting a fire, pitching a tent, fishing. He's interestedly watching his more experienced friends navigate the wild and taking notes. But you know, after the gang has roasted their marshmallows and sang their campfire songs, he's gonna start getting antsy. There's no signal. How is he supposed to know if his parents are ok back home? What if something happens in the city without him knowing about it?? What if something happens to Phichit (he left early, remember?) and his friend can't reach him??? Yuuri is the first to rise at the crack of dawn so that they can get BACKKK to civilization.

Victor and Chris are being such you-know-whats about the whole situation. Because they've got big boss energy, they don't wanna be complete downers and disappoint all their friends that look up to them (like Phichit) by just dipping. So they try to "cover up" the fact that they are just. Not here for any of this nature business. Except it's SUPER obvious that they're miserable because they're both being total divas about it and everything they say is incredibly passive aggressive and everything they do, they do with the nth degree of reluctance.

"Oh are we stargazing tonight? Wow. So beautiful. I'm sure I saw that constellation over my apartment building too. Yeah no, it's gorgeous."

*while hiking to the campsite* "Yay, fun! What good exercise you guys! I've been DYING to get in a good workout like this!" says the international superhero who goes through daily strenuous training and is constantly faced with battles of life or death.
