Let’s start with, how are you this fine day? Jet-lagged—I just made a six-hour time jump—but good!

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books? With the Blood Oath series, I’ve drawn a lot of inspiration from research I did while at university in pursuit of a history degree. My focus area was the late Roman army, and you can definitely see that influence in the world of Blood Oath. But ideas and inspiration can really come from anything, anywhere, at any time.

When did you write your first book and how old were you? The first book I wrote, revised, and queried with serious intent to publish was actually a fantasy novel set in the same world as Blood Oath. I was twenty. I eventually self-published the manuscript, but it’s thankfully out of print now.
