This charming church, built in 1854 in rural Oregon, was where my father became a pastor in his senior years to our close-knit community of farmers & ranchers. No one cared what denomination people adhered to or how they voted. What we cared about was praying for each other, being there for each other, and lifting up one another in faith & grace. We put on original plays for Christmas & Easter, held Harvest Festivals, and entered children on floats in the nearby Lamb Parade. We put out wildfires on each other’s farms, delivered each other’s calves & brought in hay bales before thunderstorms, never forgetting to make meals & visit the sick or lonely. We only passed a donation plate for those in need, not to pad the coffers of distant corporations. But most of all, we LOVED. We laughed & cried with those we loved & welcomed anyone who wanted to experience that love. Maybe it’s time for modern churches to remember such values that linger in the heart long after the torrents of dogma & politics wane. Love is what remains. 💛 🌈☀️

It’s the HOLY GRAIL of wildflowers! I’ve lived in Colorado for 10 years & never found the rare Fairy Slipper Orchid until a hike last weekend. Fairy dreams do exist! The magic is real…🧚🏻‍♀️ 🌸

Welcome Summer Solstice! We greeted the dawn at the practice run course for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race on top of “America’s Mountain” at 14,000 feet (the finals take place this weekend). Nothing like seeing a sublime sunrise while race cars swerve by with gigantic motors grinding at a hundred miles an hour! The boys were thrilled—vroom! 🏎️ ☀️

Stunning hike yesterday to 11,000 feet! I always remember my father in such places, a WWII veteran who took us on many hikes & taught us a love of the outdoors. Hope your Memorial Day is filled with joy, remembrance & deep gratitude 🏔️💛

Dear May, I thought we discussed this—can spring include warm temperatures & sunshine now? You know, maybe a flower or two? 🌸🌼

This just in (I noticed they didn’t include Bigfoot sightings—that would be off the charts!). But hey, it’s proof that unicorns & dragons are peaceful & don’t steal picnic baskets. 🦄 🐉 🐻

We went to the “DaVinci Machines & Robotics” exhibit yesterday, where artisans from Florence, Italy recreated models of DaVinci’s inventions from his 15th-century manuscripts. Of course, his flying machine ideas were an engineering favorite! 🎨

Another stunning hike—this time to the alpine lakes at the base of Mount Harvard (at 14,421 feet, it’s one of Colorado’s “fourteeners”). Gotta love this sunny September weather! 🍁 🍂 ☀️

Trip of a lifetime! We finally got to see Antelope Canyon & Monument Valley, both within the Navajo Nation (the rez had been closed for years due to Covid & still requires masks). Words can’t do these magnificent sites justice! And the kindness of the Navajo people always touches our hearts 💛 🌵☀️
