It’s such a fun, unique story and everyone I’ve convinced to sign up for ARCs has loved it. Theres political intrigue, a cheeky/horny werewolf, found family, a sassy redhead and a stubborn alpha male. There’s spice but it in no way takes away from the drama or angst of the plot. What disabilities, neurodivergencies, chronic and/or invisible illness, etc. would you want to see more of in books? For me personally, ever since I lost most of my hearing, I am always on the lookout for any books involving characters with deafness or those that are hard of hearing. My favourite is definitely Only When It’s Us by @chloe_liese bc it was the first time I’d felt seen. Chloe also writes about neurodivergent and atypical characters, anxiety rep, and those with chronic illnesses and it’s so refreshing. Do y’all have any favourite authors like that? “For every Nesta out there — climb the mountain” Fuck. I almost cried when this arrived, it was one of those hard days. I have another hard day today but I put this on bc I know if I need the encouragement I can always look down at my sleeves as a reminder. This story means so much to me. Imo it’s one of the most well-written pieces on overcoming trauma in YA/NA fantasy, and I’m so proud of my girl Nesta. I find it ridiculous that there are people who still just see her as a bitch, especially because I can relate to having worn that kind of cold persona myself. I reread this series when I need comfort, when my anxiety is so bad I can’t stomach anything new, but there’s something about ACOSF in particular that just feels like home. This is my found family and I will be a Nessian simp for the rest of my days.
