☁️ CloudClan ☁️

CloudClan’s cats are gifted with wings and the ability to fly. Residing deep within their forest territory, CloudClan does its best to stay hidden from outsiders. Many members can be incredibly superstitious and even unwelcoming towards strangers. Cats who unknowingly cross CloudClan’s territory border often leave reporting of mysterious patrols swooping down from the branches above to drive them out, gliding back into the shadows without being spotted, and the trees seem to be eerily quiet to any passing twolegs.

CloudClan’s working population is split between the Above and the Below.

Above of CloudClan are similar in most ways to other clans’ idea of warriors. They do most of the clan’s hunting and patrolling. The Above spend the vast majority of their lives above (haha) the ground, resting and hunting in the trees or weaving through their branches in flight to navigate the territory. Above avoid ever touching the ground as best they can - In fact, some believe that if a cat who is Above lands on the forest floor, it’s a bad omen and frowned upon by StarClan

CloudClan’s Below, however, spend the majority of their day on the ground. They complete many different tasks that the Above cannot, such as marking the borders, fending off land predators, gathering herbs for the medicine cats, and guarding the camp while the Above are unable to. Additionally, they are usually the ones who perform general clan maintenance, often teaching the apprentices how to build dens, nests, and defensive barriers around the camp. Below are usually selected by the medicine cat at apprenticeship, as the medicine cat uses the divine counsel of their ancestors to decide who is fit to walk on land.

CloudClan’s main camp is stationed in the uppermost branches of Silverpelt’s Claw, the largest tree in the forest. The Below, however, have a smaller ‘camp’ set up in the lower branches, making it easier for them to get to the forest floor and back. The camps themselves are sheltered by the Claw’s thick branches, or otherwise by barriers of thorns crafted by the Below.

CloudClan doesn’t have a StarClan meeting place like the Moonstone or the Moonpool. Instead, it’s believed that only a senior medicine cat can instigate meetings with StarClan. A medicine cat must traverse up the branches of Silverpelt’s Claw to the highest and sturdiest branch of the tree, and sleep there fully under the moonlight to speak with their ancestors. Other cats usually need a medicine cat to connect them with StarClan. The only exception is leaders’ Nine Lives Ceremony, which must be performed alone.

☁️ CUSTOMS ☁️

CloudClan’s prey usually consists of tree dwelling creatures, such as squirrels and birds, and the occasional reptile. The largest cats are especially skilled at watching out for and taking down the occasional bird of prey, such as hawks, owls, and rarely eagles.

CloudClan kits must learn the basics of flight before they are granted their apprentice names; typically, they start learning to fly at around three moons old and earn their names at six or seven.

Leaders rarely leave the Claw, as they typically don’t join patrols - they spend much of their time overseeing the camp and meeting with clanmates to discuss clan matters.

some story ramblings under the cut!! (aka i found out how to do a read more after four years using this app- :D)

//cw: discussion of cults and a zombie apocalypse!

- after the world went to shambles via parasitic zombie plague, his family rose to power leading a prominent cult out in the countryside, w/ a strict authoritarian grip on its members.

- shriek’s the youngest of the family, and the black sheep - he really dislikes how authoritarian his family is running the lives of their followers, and is planning to leave.. when he gets the chance :3

- he only has a vague idea of what the outside world is actually like - he was young when the infection began to spread, and grew up mostly sheltered from the outside world.

- at least his family taught him to use a knife well!

gave a special lil boy a bit of a redesign! he looks more like a cat now :3

i don’t like being too vague on the story i have for him and shriek (who’s also getting a redesign :D), so! some vague lore drops :p

- he and shriek live on a post-apocalyptic earth; most of humanity’s gone, and what’s left of civilization is being hunted to extinction by parasitic monsters that infect mammal hosts…

- screw all that noise, though- :) myrtle here lives around the suburban/urban countryside as a part of a gang of raiders; groups that ally with the goal of taking over resources and territories with brute force.

- he kinda hates all his fellow raiders- a lot- but he doesn’t have any other company… for now c:

ahem, HEAAAVY quotations on “pet” because he’s… essentially just their roommate who also happens to be a walking talking dog?? think brian from family guy except he’s nothing like him, simba’s 100% more laid-back n chill :3

‘dent and cookie definitely stole him from the government while making their escape and now he just lives with them. nobody in town even questions what’s up with his posture, he’s just that dog that’s friends with all the town’s arcade geeks :D

he’s super chill, just kind of a slacker.. he doesn’t even pay rent >_> also he scares the HELL out of accident sometimes by virtue of being the same height. they’re cool though :3

- he and cookie are both very much well-known government runaways in america - they’re technically on the run as dangerous threats to the public, but..

- they both recently moved into a dingy ol’ apartment complex in a weirdly obscure town called palsburg, deep in nevada… he triple-checked - it’s not even on most maps.

- think gravity falls/regular show for this kind of setting ;3 he and cookie live pretty mundane lives here buuut… no one seems to question their strange looks, and he’s pretty sure things just aren’t quite normal here - weird things just keep happening to him? it’s probably fine- maybe.

meet the lil spitfire herself, cadance doe! don’t call her that, though- everyone calls her “cookie”, just the way she likes it!

she’s accident’s best friend and roommate - technically she’s his only friend, and even then he’s suuuper skittish around her. but they hang out! :0

speaking of, she’s a mutated superhuman like he is! technically, at least - she was supposed to just be a girl spliced with salamander dna, but a lab accident ended up with her being part gummy candy too. watermelon flavor, if you’re wondering :3

i won’t go into too much lore in this post, but she and accident live in a pretty off-radar, backwater suburban town together away from most of society - it’s peaceful and all! who knows why no one seems to question their inhuman appearance, or what’s up with that scythe cookie always carries with her, though…

i’m sure it’s not that important :p

meet shriek and myrtle! :D two kitties who are best buds (myrtle’s words) !!

i have lore for them… i think they live in a post-apocalypse world where nature’s reclaimed most of earth, with animals developing somewhat rudimentary technology (i.e. myrtle’s tattoo n shriek’s bandana) <w>

shriek maaay or may not be in a cult (note: i’ve made sure to properly research cults!) run by his family… anywho. myrtle’s a scrappy city cat who doesn’t have a clue and keeps trying to be his friend :)

it’s smoothie! she’s the mascot for a fictional cartoon series/toy brand (that i’m calling “sugar valley” for now) about a bunch of food-themed animal mascots getting up to typical saturday morning cartoon shenanigans..
